2NLs are starting to be sent for August interviews. Again, as has been the pattern for the last few months, these are earlier than normal especially given the 15th as a VB release date, I expect we will see similar unusual process this month, so the 2NLs might be spread out over a few days, or even the next couple of weeks. So – look out for the email – and check the ESC site.
Last month, some people got 2NL emails but then had to wait days or even a couple of weeks before the interview letter showed on the ESC page. Other people waited until the beginning of the following month to get their 2NLs and ESC page update. So – be patient, stay calm. If your 2NL is delayed, it has nothing to do with President Trump and doesn’t mean aliens have invaded. Just relax and be patient. Some physicians won’t schedule the medicals unless you have the 2NL in hand, BUT these interviews are for AUGUST, so there is plenty of time.
The other thing that happened last month was that some people did not get scheduled as they thought. This is especially true in a number of AF region embassies (Cameroon, Ivory Coast, Algeria, Morocco and Liberia are just a few of the embassies experiencing delays). Hopefully the people waiting from June and July, will now get August interviews – but there are a LOT of people waiting, so I expect some problems.
The email itself has no useful information. It simply tells you to check the ESC site for the interview details. Some people that receive the email will find the ESC site is not ready, those people should try again after a few hours. Also, some people find the email itself goes to a trash or spam folder or somehow miss it. So – if you think you may have been scheduled but missed your email, you can check the ESC site, just in case. The 1NL (you have been selected letter) is replaced by a new letter which gives the appointment details.
*** please for our willing scrapers – let’s get scraping (as we can then identify the cases that have been scheduled, and that tells us how many interviews are being scheduled per embassy/region ***

Thank you britsimon.
Just got my 2nl for August interview am from Cameroon. Thank God almighty
June 21, 2018 at 17:05
Hi Paul, on the CEAC website does your status show At NVC or in transit?
June 21, 2018 at 17:10
CEAC shows at NVC until the 2NL is sent. Then it briefly shows in transit.
June 21, 2018 at 17:14
Still show as at NVC but I got my 2nl with interview date. Only only thing that has change is my status when checking the results the other form has been replaced
June 21, 2018 at 20:55
Hello Mr. Paul,
First of all congratulations!
I have a few questions If you don’t mind:
– Are you a 2018 or a 2019 DV lottery applicant?
– In which month and year did you send your DS260?
Thanks a lot.
June 21, 2018 at 20:58
For goodness sake. He is a DV2018 applicant – DV2019 hasn’t started yet.
June 23, 2018 at 09:10
Pls paul, whats your case number? . Im also from cameroon with case n0. 2018af33xxx. Submitted my ds 260 on the 12th of December 2017 but till date no appointment. Each time i contact kcc, they say my case is still pending further embassy review. Whereas my friend who submitted on the 20th of may 2018 with case no. 2018af35xxx has been given an appointment in August. Can anyone help me out with what’s happening ? Thanks
June 23, 2018 at 15:00
What’s happening – chaos I would imagine.
Let me explain. Cameroon had 3720 selectees (including derivatives) at an original derivative rate of about 1.35 . So – there are probably about 2700 Cameroonian cases. I don’t think Cameroon was limited, so the winners are spread out throughout the whole 52k number range. So – for each 1000 case numbers there would be 50 winning cases from Cameroon.
Let’s assume only half of them submitted their DS260. It could be higher – but let’s go with a low number.
We have seen scheduling problems in Cameroon (and some other embassies) since June interviews. So – there are 25 cases to schedule for each 1000 numbers between 25000 and 52000. That is 675 cases. All to be scheduled within August and September.
Honestly – I suspect there will not be enough time to schedule all those cases. For those that are scheduled – BOOK the medical ASAP – because even if the interviews can be scheduled, booking the medicals will be a problem.
June 21, 2018 at 15:41
congratulation MR PAUL.
what was your CN?
thanks
June 21, 2018 at 15:52
AF290XX
June 21, 2018 at 16:00
Congrats Paul, good news at least for you .. I hope for every other African who’s suffering will get their 2NL.
Mr. Brit
Should I call them and see what they say to me? I think it’s going to be the same thing they told me the other day (2NL get several weeks to process and you should wait for it at the end of the month) or something close to that just to get rid of me .. what do you think?
June 21, 2018 at 16:01
I forget (cn34000) Algerian embassy
June 21, 2018 at 16:46
Up to you.
June 21, 2018 at 15:43
Hello Simon, sorry for asking same question but I am a little bit worried as I am supposed to have my 2nl for July interview and did not get it yet! My number if AF36xxx and I am from Tunisia.Do you have any information? They started sending the 2nl for August and am looking everyday in the esc page and still nothing!! Am afraid that they miss my number and start from AF38xxx for August!thank you for your understanding 🙂
June 21, 2018 at 16:46
Just be patient.
June 21, 2018 at 16:00
Hi Brit! My CN is EU22xxx and finally I got my 2NLs and my interview is scheduled at August 02. I just want to thank you for all the info you have provided us during this months. THANK YOU!
June 21, 2018 at 16:58
I called them directly
June 21, 2018 at 16:03
Paul, what did you say to them in the email to receive your 2NL?
June 21, 2018 at 16:59
I called them directly to check my status
June 21, 2018 at 16:38
Hi Brit,
Please I submited my DS260 in August 2017 as Married, and unloked it and submited it again at April 24 2018.
the problem is that I didn’t yet receive my 2NL.
is it too late for me to get my 2NL? or I’ve all my chance to have an interview ? if yes it will be for August or septembre ?
Thank you very much.
June 21, 2018 at 16:48
I don’t know your case number, region or year….
June 22, 2018 at 17:17
Yes sorry,
Africa dv2018
CN: 33800
June 22, 2018 at 17:30
OK – so you are current – you just need to wait some more.
June 28, 2018 at 21:42
ok Thank you
June 21, 2018 at 17:14
Does CURRENT mean there is no risk for the case number in Africa for example?
June 21, 2018 at 17:23
The risk for Africans at the moment is that there are a lot of cases to schedule.
June 21, 2018 at 17:44
You see Brit there is now a risk for African numbers to be schedule it means this is very dangerous for dv winners 2018 but at the same time you say people should wait and be patient finally we are very confused
June 21, 2018 at 19:04
Yes there is a risk, and yes people should be patient. That means there is a risk, but nothing can be done except waiting.
June 21, 2018 at 18:12
Hello Mr. Brit
My case number is current for june ( AF26XXX Morocco) but I have not received my 2NL so far, so I sent an email to KCC and their response was ” Your case number is now current for interview processing. Once the interview date has been scheduled, you will receive notification via email to check”
So please can I know what does this email mean ? does it mean I will get my interview in August or Septembre?
I’m waiting patiently!!
June 21, 2018 at 19:05
That is a good response – it means they are working on the scheduling of your case. Be patient now.
June 21, 2018 at 21:54
Thank You Sir!
June 21, 2018 at 21:05
Hello Maria,
I’m from Morocco too and I was wondering:
– Are you a 2018 or 2019 DV lottery applicant ?
– Which month and year did you submit your DS260?
Thank you!
June 21, 2018 at 21:13
Again – this is a silly question. Stop asking people.
June 21, 2018 at 22:44
I am a 2018 DV lottery applicant and I submited my DS260 in August 2017
and if you are a 2019 DV lottery applicant this situation has nothing to do with you!! DV2019 hasn’t started yet.
June 21, 2018 at 19:21
Hello brit,
I am Hem
excuse me,I can’t understand this meaning .what is the meaning of

June 21, 2018 at 20:10
Hello Simon,
I am from sri lanka and my case is AS125XX. i see some of the candidates with AS13XXX also have received the 2NL. Should i be worried about this and call KCC or just wait? I filled my DS260 in june 2017. I am getting worried now because i am a single candidate so have this fear of my application being thrown out.
Please advise
June 21, 2018 at 20:53
Patience. Really.
June 22, 2018 at 05:18

June 21, 2018 at 21:08
Hi Brit. Do they send a 2NLs to adjustment of status applicants?
June 21, 2018 at 21:11
Yes, but it is simply a receipt. Interviews are notified direct from the FO.
June 21, 2018 at 21:15
Thank you. Greatly appreciate your service in maintaining this blog and answering our questions.
June 21, 2018 at 21:23
Hi Brit
Finally received my 2nl after an year of waiting. Thank you so much for your continuous guidance. OC13** here☺
June 21, 2018 at 21:53
Great!
June 22, 2018 at 03:26
Hey Brit, I am also OC13** and haven’t received 2NL as of yet and my ds260 currently still at KCC, do I just be patient for the time being? Is there anything I should do?
June 22, 2018 at 05:20
Just be patient.
June 21, 2018 at 21:27
Good and interesting news from Cameroon… I am 2018AF48XXX… I just received my 2NL for an August interview. We thank God for this miracle.
June 21, 2018 at 21:59
That is good news indeed. Hopefully they can accommodate all the interviews backlogged.
A word of advice. Book your medical ASAP. All the people about to get 2NLs all have to book medicals – and that will mean they will run out of appointments.
June 21, 2018 at 21:32
Good news !! Congrats brother ..
Here they is a proof that KCC is doing their best to schedule the interviews ..
June 21, 2018 at 21:46
Ok I stand down. I really really don’t understand how this works! Congrats Gerry and good luck to everyone waiting for their 2NLs!
June 21, 2018 at 21:37
Simon, how are you? after seeing the latest data what’s your guesstimate for SA?
The ready cases how should the be calculated, as a 50% or in total?
Honestly this is such a roller coaster for everyone, I don’t understand the purpose of over selection and specially in SA such a high number for a small quota
Also i want to take the time to publicly thank you for this Blog, the time you dedicate its such an amazing thing what you are doing for people you don’t know but gain your trust, and rely on you
Thanks once again
June 21, 2018 at 22:01
I really don’t have final numbers – I will just wait and see…
June 22, 2018 at 02:24
Do you think SA can go current?
June 22, 2018 at 05:18
No
June 21, 2018 at 21:59
Dear Simon;
I have a question
I have to register my appointment/schedule and the form I am filling they are asking the passport number; the problem is i have two passport the one which i used in my ds 260(which is not valid anymore) and the new one which i intend to bring to the interview. I didn’t correct it in my ds 260 because it was too late.
So which one should I put on this form? the one i filled on ds 260 or the new one?
Thanks
June 21, 2018 at 22:02
New one.
June 21, 2018 at 22:00
Hi Mr Brit, hoping that you’re doing great, I just wish to notify your office that I received my 2nl . From Cameroon.
God Bless You Sir.
June 21, 2018 at 22:01
My office said thanks for the update. Congrats.
June 22, 2018 at 07:13
Hello Dihno, congratulations, did you receive an email or you checked directly online for your 2nl.
June 22, 2018 at 07:38
He CLEARLY mentions receiving the 2NL.
June 21, 2018 at 22:26
Thanks for your appreciation and support my brothers. I pray you succeed too.
Brits, thank you for making me understand the process
One question Brits… my son’s name is not included in the 2NL… do I need to notify my embassy or I just take him to the interview without prior notification?
Thanks
June 21, 2018 at 23:04
2NLs are sent with the original entry names.
Once you see the case as ready – I expect that it should include him too. If it doesn’t, (or if it makes you feel better), you can contact the embassy to confirm they expect him too. The only problem you might experience is being able to book the medical for the child as he is not on the 2NL so for that you might have to show the DS260 confirmation pages to the physician.
June 21, 2018 at 23:33
Thanks very much for the quick response Brits. No need calling the embassy then.
June 21, 2018 at 23:08
Kenyan people, any progress
June 22, 2018 at 00:00
Waiting..51k but hopeful
June 22, 2018 at 00:12
hi simon sorry for all this crazy questions maybe make your mind in high pressure.
so please sir can you explain me that message from Kcc.
Thank you for your inquiry.
Your forms have been received and pending further embassy review for the continuation of your visa processing. Interviews are scheduled numerically based on case numbers that have completed processing. Interviews for the DV 2018 program will begin in October 2017 and conclude on September 30, 2018.
THANK YOU A LOT
June 22, 2018 at 00:43
Read the FAQ. It’s in there.
June 22, 2018 at 00:15
Hi Brits. 2018AF of 51k range. Originally submitted DS for me n derivatives in June last year. Unlocked early April n re-submitted in mid May this year.
1.Can leaving the DS open for over a month n submitting just last month delay processing of our forms?
2. What does KCC look at? The original submission date or the re-submission date?
3.For September interviews, the 2nl comes in July or August?
Thanks in advance.
June 22, 2018 at 00:43
1. No
2. Original – but in any case – RELAX!
3. July.
June 22, 2018 at 01:08
Thanks for prompt response Brit. Always tops! Be blessed!
June 22, 2018 at 00:25
Hi Brit, is there any update on 2NLS for July and August for Liberia/ Monrovia?
June 22, 2018 at 00:39
People in Cameroon were getting 2NLs late today. Over the next few days I expect people waiting for interviews at other backlogged embassies to get their 2NLs. Patience.
June 22, 2018 at 00:43
Hi bits greetings am from Cameroon and my case number is 2018AF44××× and I am seeing numbers from Cameroon higher than mine and have already received their 2NL and it’s being said that interviews are scheduled numerically from KCC. how can one understands this. thanks
June 22, 2018 at 00:52
“it’s being said that interviews are scheduled numerically”
That’s only being said by people who are not listening.
Visa numbers are released over time numerically. That is true. However, once a range of case numbers are current, the case number NO LONGER determines the priority of interviews being scheduled. So – now that ALL of AF is current – interviews are no longer following case number order. The order of scheduling is not clear – I have previously tried to correlate it with date of submission or other things that would make sense – BUT there is no firm correlation. So – it remains something of a mystery – but so what. The idea is that all people current should be able to get an interview. That, at least, is supposed to be how it works.
June 22, 2018 at 01:27
Yes it is logical and clear that current means all cases will have interview date ,this dv2018 they selected few people about 56000 or less so this is why VB seems slow but in fact it is logical following 56k who are selected.
If a case was delayed ,it will be later scheduled so no worries at all .
Your thoughts sir ?
June 22, 2018 at 05:16
I am NOT saying no worries at all. They have a lot of cases to schedule. I don’t know if all can be scheduled. So – WAIT AND SEE.
June 22, 2018 at 01:41
Bonsoir ,does any one from MOROCCO got 2NL?have you heard from any moroccan ?any news from or about Morocco?

Hi Mr BRITSIMON,
2018AF39*** and not yet received 2nl. My husband is the principal and for cote d’Ivoire embassy
I e-mail KCC and they answered this:
“”Your forms have been received and pending further embassy review for the continuation of your visa processing. Interviews are scheduled numerically based on case numbers that have completed processing. Interviews for the DV 2018 program will begin in October 2017 and conclude on September 30, 2018. Please refer to the visa bulletin at http://www.travel.state.gov to locate the current numbers being processed. This bulletin is updated after the 15th day of each month. Once an interview date has been scheduled, you will receive notification via email to check http://www.dvlottery.state.gov.””
As I read in your FAQ, we will receive 2nl in the second batch.
1- Would you Kindly explain how the second batch is working ?
2- In my case, is the second batch for the current month (august) or for the next month (september) ?
June 22, 2018 at 13:33
Due to the delays mentioned above, I cannot predict what will happen. Wait and see.
June 22, 2018 at 14:26
Thank you sir for your reply.
June 22, 2018 at 13:24
Hello,
I got 2nl for August visa bulletin. When I check the ceac data, it shows 4 cases ready. (5 member family) and
1) what are those case number mean? eg- 2018AS12XXX 01 is this for principle and beneficiaries cases?
2) my son got 21 and not protected by child protection act, so is this the reason my 21 year old son didn’t get ready?? (Because only 4 ready)
3) so does he can’t get a visa? Due to not ready in the ceac data.
Thanks.
June 22, 2018 at 13:57

June 22, 2018 at 19:09
Hi i ask kcc for my 2l and anser me
Date :
22 juin 2018, 17:48
Thank you for your inquiry.
Your case number is now current for interview processing. Once the interview date has been scheduled, you will receive notification via email to check http://www.dvlottery.state.gov. If you need to make changes to your DS-260 you should contact the consular section where you will be interviewed, or bring the information about your changes to your interview appointment. Because your case is ready to be scheduled, KCC can no longer unlock your application.
In order for the Kentucky Consular Center to assist with inquiries regarding a specific Diversity Visa (DV) case, you must provide the Principal Applicant’s full name, complete case number, and date of birth in the following format (MMDDYYYY) as entered on the original entry. Please remember that the Kentucky Consular Center does not have the authority to tell you whether or not your specific case will be disqualified. Only a consular officer can do that at the time of your visa interview. Do not send any paper documents to the Kentucky Consular Center.

Hi Brit,
CN : AS12XXX
Country Sri Lanka
Interview location requested: Sydney, Australia
I wrote to KCC requesting a status update and below is the response I received.
“Your case number is now current for interview processing. Once the interview date has been scheduled, you will receive notification via email to check http://www.dvlottery.state.gov. If you need to make changes to your DS-260 you should contact the consular section where you will be interviewed, or bring the information about your changes to your interview appointment. Because your case is ready to be scheduled, KCC can no longer unlock your application.”
1. Does this mean I WILL SURELY get an interview scheduled?
2. Since I have requested a different location for the interview will that impact my chances?
3. Should I wait for the 2NL for the medical and police reports?
Thank you in advance
Regards
Suresh
June 22, 2018 at 21:44
1. It means they are scheduling it.
2. Wait and see.
3. Yes for the medical – you can start the police cert now.
June 23, 2018 at 00:20
Thank you Brit for the clear, precise responses. Will update the thread IF I get an interview scheduled.
Regards
Suresh
June 22, 2018 at 22:27
Hello simon i have a new born i didnot add him to my ds260 form is it ok if i mention him at the interview?
June 22, 2018 at 23:00
Why would you not have included him on the DS260 or completed a DS260 for the child? Are you trying to create problems?
June 23, 2018 at 05:51
Is it too late to add him now since Africa is current?
June 23, 2018 at 14:37
It depends whether you are scheduled or not. You could contact KCC to ask to unlock to add the child. That would be easiest. If you are scheduled you could contact the embassy and see what they suggest.
June 23, 2018 at 07:06
Hi Brit,
Am seeing numbers higher than my cn AF41xxx receiving 2nl from Cameroon and I begin to wonder if all is well and I also want to ask if it cameroonians who are working in the embassy or Americans??
Am very tense since 20th I get running stomach because of tension within me, I have choose to call Kcc first thing on Monday 2 pm Cameroon time
June 23, 2018 at 08:08
Calm down bro am also from Cameroon but no 2nl yet, let’s hope and trust in God that’s all we can do now. I called kcc yesterday bro and they said I may get a September interview of which they are not sure but I am trusting in God that I will be scheduled, CN AF35xxx

I think its becoming more conspicuous that most Cameroonian case numbers are concentrated in the high case number as I suspected, reason why this delay has become an issue lately.
June 23, 2018 at 14:22
That isn’t true. The draw process is known and there is no way for a country to have a concentration of cases at higher numbers.

I really can’t answer those questions – I don’t have a Crystal Ball.
June 23, 2018 at 15:04
Dear Mr. Britsimon,
I am a derivative of a DV 2018 winner whos interview is scheduled for August. Since I am no longer below the age of 21 I have aged out according to the CSPA calculation. Do you think I should still attend the interview and if there is any chance I would get approved? I belong the Asia region.
Thanks in advance for your reply.
June 23, 2018 at 15:17
There is no point in your attending the interview. No chance of getting approved.
June 23, 2018 at 17:38
Thanks you for the reply. As for the primary applicant, what documents should they take to interview to prove that they are financially fit to migrate?
