2NLs are starting to be sent for August interviews. Again, as has been the pattern for the last few months, these are earlier than normal especially given the 15th as a VB release date, I expect we will see similar unusual process this month, so the 2NLs might be spread out over a few days, or even the next couple of weeks. So – look out for the email – and check the ESC site.
Last month, some people got 2NL emails but then had to wait days or even a couple of weeks before the interview letter showed on the ESC page. Other people waited until the beginning of the following month to get their 2NLs and ESC page update. So – be patient, stay calm. If your 2NL is delayed, it has nothing to do with President Trump and doesn’t mean aliens have invaded. Just relax and be patient. Some physicians won’t schedule the medicals unless you have the 2NL in hand, BUT these interviews are for AUGUST, so there is plenty of time.
The other thing that happened last month was that some people did not get scheduled as they thought. This is especially true in a number of AF region embassies (Cameroon, Ivory Coast, Algeria, Morocco and Liberia are just a few of the embassies experiencing delays). Hopefully the people waiting from June and July, will now get August interviews – but there are a LOT of people waiting, so I expect some problems.
The email itself has no useful information. It simply tells you to check the ESC site for the interview details. Some people that receive the email will find the ESC site is not ready, those people should try again after a few hours. Also, some people find the email itself goes to a trash or spam folder or somehow miss it. So – if you think you may have been scheduled but missed your email, you can check the ESC site, just in case. The 1NL (you have been selected letter) is replaced by a new letter which gives the appointment details.
*** please for our willing scrapers – let’s get scraping (as we can then identify the cases that have been scheduled, and that tells us how many interviews are being scheduled per embassy/region ***

Dear DV2018 lottery program fellows who have high case numbers in Europe region, we have written this kind letter to KCC just for them to know that we are here, waiting and looking forward to see August visa bulletin. You can use this template to let KCC know you are also waiting to hear good news next month. We know this is unlikely to have any effect, but we thought sending this letter is still better than waiting and not doing anything. At least at the end of DV2018 program, we could tell ourselves that we have tried what we can. Please feel free to add, delete or modify sentences and expressions in the letter depend on your mood and thoughts.
[email protected]
——————————————-
Dear Sir/Madam,
We are writing this letter to you as FY2018 Diversity Visa Program Selectees from European Region, and would like to kindly express our thoughts regarding your decisions that will shape our future.
It was one of the memorable and happiest moments of our lives when we did find out that we have been selected for 2018 Diversity Visa Program for a chance to immigrate to the United States. Unfortunately, we all have EU region case numbers above 23.325, which is the cut off number announced for the month of August. There is only one month –September– left for DV2018 program to conclude and we are hoping to get our cases to be allowed for further processing in September and wishing that as many of us as possible will get chance to immigrate from Europe to United States.
We are aware not all selectees will get chance for visa interviews. During the past one year, we have been glued to our computers each month for visa bulletin announcements to see our cases are allocated a visa number. This year, many regions seem to have luckier year compared to European region, we are aware each year monthly cut-off numbers does not have to follow similar trend, but we are worried to see many regions to go “current” in visa bulletin but not European region and hoping to see good news in August bulletin, which will be the last chance for us.
We know there are 50.000 DV visas available this year and of course we do not know currently how many visas have been given so far in the program and how many are left. And we are aware that you are making what you need to do according to laws and also know that you are trying to distribute all available visa numbers in each region with some priorities, in order to meet program expectations.
This year, we felt that some people who are given chance to continue diversity visa processing might be still undecided whether to immigrate or not, might be preferring not to continue their applications or for other reasons they might not get visas independent of their intention; we assume for those people that their cases remain open until there is a clear decision given by Consular Officers. We are afraid this unknown situation or possibility may affect cut-off number that will be announced next month dramatically and at the end with all unfinished cases, program expectations will not be fulfilled since less than 50.000 visas will be distributed overall. As you can guess, this is our fear since this will result in some of us losing chance to get visa interview although there might be available visas in the program.
We believe it is pretty fair to select more people than visa numbers since not all will be eligible for visas. And we believe this is done to maximize distributed visa numbers that are available and use all of them if possible. We are a group of highly motivated people, and very eager to immigrate to the United States, and we are meeting simple but strict eligibility requirements for DV program and we are from European Countries with low rates of immigration to the United States. And we would like as many of us as possible to get visas and immigrate to the United States.
We have seen Diversity Visa statistics that belong to previous years on DOS official website, and realized that by courtesy of Kentucky Consular Center there have been years where more than 50.000 visas have been used for the program. We also have seen DV2018 instructions regarding maximum visa numbers available on the page 15 of the official DV 2018 instructions document, where it was indicated that law allows up to 55.000 visas to be used by Diversity Visa program, for which up to 5000 of 55.000 could be used for NACARA (Nicaraguan Adjustment and Central American Relief Act). We have indicated our concerns about the situation that not all available visas will be used for the program, therefore we are wondering whether these 5000 visas could be used this year for DV program and could be distributed to European region. From “Yearbook of Immigration Statistics” which is available on DHS official website, we could see that in recent years there have been less than 1000 visas used for NACARA program and we are deducing that the situation will be similar if not the same this year. Since immigration laws let these 5000 visas could be used for DV, with our limited knowledge, we are thinking that by courtesy of Kentucky Consular Center using these 5000 visas allocated for NACARA might compensate undistributed visa numbers for waiting cases and these visas might give flexibility to Consular Officers to decide on open cases and reduce the visa numbers that could be unused otherwise. Therefore, program could reach its purpose by allowing 50.000 people to immigrate US.
Please be aware that we just want you –as KCC– to know that we are here, waiting patiently and looking forward to see the cut-off number that will be announced in “Visa Bulletin For August 2018”. We are not trying to make a different point, we are not trying to point out any mistake or misregulation, we are not trying to teach anyone anything, we have no other intensions but what is indicated in the first a few sentences of this letter. We hope to see as many of us as possible could get visa appointments next month.
Thank you very much,
King Regards,

June 25, 2018 at 15:25
I would like to send this letter but I’m worried if they take it the wrong way!!!!
I’m thinking to send it though….
June 25, 2018 at 16:32
Sending this letter won’t change anything – no harm, no advantage. The only purpose it serves is to waste precious time of people that should instead be scheduling interviews. There is no need to let them know people are waiting – they know that already. The letter cannot change anything for the positive.
June 25, 2018 at 16:47
Ok….. get it ?
June 26, 2018 at 02:14
People at KCC have priority. If you have high CN be fair and play along.
In life, a lot of times you need to let things happen instead of make things to happen.
June 26, 2018 at 04:40
some people just can’t ‘wait and see’ and instead prefer to do unnecessary things.
Hope is a dangerous thing. Hope can drive a man insane. It’s got no use on the inside. I’m sure you’d heard that before.
June 26, 2018 at 13:14
The whole world runs on hope!!!! There is nothing wrong with it . If you didn’t have hope you would not be in this blog…. but your are hoping to hear something, something good

Hi BritSimon,
Thank you for your invaluable help.
I currently live in the US. Because of my high case number, I requested a change from adjustment of status to an interview appointment at the US Embassy in Bogota, Colombia.
I received my appointment letter on Monday. My appointment date is August 6, but I got a big surprise as my appointment was scheduled in Georgetown, Guyana. I emailed them asking about the change and they said that a lot of people scheduled initially for Bogota were reassigned to Guyana. No further explanation.
This is for me a real game changer, as I need to rush to get all my documents translated into English. My budget is now compromised due to flights and hotels costs being twice as much as the ones for Bogota. Also, we are required to get a visa to visit Guyana, therefore I need to schedule a trip with my family to New York or Washington DC to the Guyana Embassy/Consulate to get it (more money).
This past few days have been stressful due to the change in plans and all the things that I need to start from scratch.
Money is really an issue but I will have to figure it out.
My main concern though, is that when I called the Guyana Embassy to ask about the visa, they said that processing times are typically 3 weeks, so it could take 4 weeks to get our passports back after our Guyana visa interview. That means that if there is any delay and I can’t get my passports on time, our chances of processing our US DV would be in jeopardy.
Given this situation, I have been thinking about emailing KCC again, explain my situation and ask if there is a possibility for our visa appointment to be assigned to any other south american country, as a visa is not required for us to visit. However, I am concerned about contacting them again, fearing that they may say something like they will give my visa spot to someone else because it seems that I am not interested, or something like I have made too many requests and I will no longer have a chance to process it.
Maybe it’s just me being paranoid but, would that be possible?
If I was certain that the worst that can happen is that they will say not to my request, I would not hesitate to contact them, but if there is a possibility that they can get annoyed and retaliate I would not ask.
Do you have any advice for me?
I will really appreciate it.
Best Regards,
Luis Ojeda
June 24, 2018 at 06:06
KCC cannot now reschedule. The embassy has your case. Switching at this point is risky – but you can try if you want.
To reschedule you ask the embassy you want to move to first. If they agree, you contact the existing embassy and ask them to move it. There are mistakes and delays possible.

What happens when Sept comes and my CN is not in the bulletin ?
Will i not get a chance for an interview even i got selcted in the first place ?
I am worried as Aug just shows CN 23325 as cut off . . Thats pretty damn low compared to last years. Any prediction what the cut off for Sep might be ?
Cheers

If your case number is not current in July (when September interviews are announced), then you won’t get a Green Card.
June 24, 2018 at 11:23
Hello Brit,
As we saw the last batch of 2nls came earlier that we thought, and that makes me wonder when they are likely to send the next batch.
Will it be in July or early Aug?
Blessings.

Dear Brit,
Thank you for your efforts. I do not understand the way they send out 2NL ! Does it go out on batched or spread over the weeks ?? I did not recv. my 2NL 2018AF33xxx when we went current KCC told us to call back after the 15th of June to have our 2nls which did not show up at all and now again they have a new VB we did not recv, our 2nl and when we call they say check at the end of this June.. we are worried u know. Bear in mind that my ds260 were submitted on the 27th of May 2017 and as I see some cases submitted the ds260 on nov.2017 and have the 2nls now!!
June 24, 2018 at 22:21
For the past few months there have been batches of 2NLs – the last being around the end of the month.
June 24, 2018 at 20:44

AS11xxx
June 24, 2018 at 22:21
You follow instructions from the embassy.
June 25, 2018 at 11:30
Hi Mr.Brit
First, I want to thank you a lot for your help and guidance during this hard times.
I’m from Morocco and I completed my DS260 on 28 August 2017
My case number is 2018AF524xx, it will be current for August
I emailed the KCC to check on my situation and they give me “Your forms have been received and are currently processing. Allow several weeks for processing” answer (i know what this response means thanks to your post “What does this KCC email mean”)
but my questions are :
1) Do the KCC wait until the month when the CN is current to send the case to the embassy? (assuming that the DS260 have been already processed)
2) how much time NORMALLY takes between the month were you went current and the one of the interview?
3) do you consider the time of processing my DS260 as normal? knowing that I’m single
Actually, I know that the only reasonable and accurate answer to my questions would be “To wait and see”, and that what I have been doing for over a year.
But now I’m too desperate because I HAVE TO DO some very important personnel decisions right now, and any piece of information from someone how have been through this would help, even if it’s not that accurate, cauz I’m taking thous decisions anyway.
Thank you again for your help and time
June 25, 2018 at 14:46
1. Yes
2. This isn’t a normal year
3. Your DS260 is processed. You are waiting to be scheduled. This isn’t a normal year.
Don’t make any decisions based on the lottery.
June 25, 2018 at 13:12
Hello Brit,
I am from Liberia and my case is 434xx when I should expect my 2NL? since others are getting their especially from Cameroon with high case Number Like 48xxx….
June 25, 2018 at 14:35
All remaining AF numbers are current – so KCC are scheduling as many interviews as possible this month, and in July (for September interviews). It remains to be seen whether they can schedule all cases or not.
June 25, 2018 at 13:32
Hi Mr Brit, I received my visa for more than 3 weeks and I trying to paid my immigrant fee but this message appear ” We could not find the A-Number and/or DOS Case ID you entered
If your immigrant visa was approved recently, wait five days before attempting to pay. If the problem continues after five days, contact the USCIS Contact Center for assistance.”
I’m sure that i write the DOS Case ID and my A-Number correct and put “0” after A letter.
can you help me. Thanks
June 25, 2018 at 14:08
You can pay before or AFTER you travel. No rush. Wait and pay it later, or if you still can’t pay it after entry, contact USCIS once you enter USA.
June 25, 2018 at 18:33
Hi BritSimon,
My case no is 364** and can not Received 2NLs
June 25, 2018 at 19:08
Patience.
June 25, 2018 at 20:39
Hi BritSimon
I contacted KCC about my case and I received the following answer—>
Your forms have been received and are currently processing. Allow several weeks for processing. Interviews are scheduled numerically based on case numbers that have completed processing.
What do they mean by “processing”? Is there still a hope to get scheduled for august?
Thanks in advance.
June 25, 2018 at 21:00
These replies are standard. I have laid out what each reply means in a FAQ entry. In the past, forms were processing, until someone got current – then they scheduled the interview and occasionally people would get a slightly different reply when the cases was scheduled but the 2NL wasn’t sent yet. They don’t have a standard reply to describe what is currently happening. DS260s are FULLY processed. Cases are current but not being scheduled. Because they don’t have a standard reply for the real scenario – they send the one they have. So – I don’t believe for one moment that your forms are still actually being processed.
June 25, 2018 at 21:09
Thanks for the reply. I guess I’ll have to wait and see.
June 25, 2018 at 21:05
Hello sabe,
How long does KCC takes to respond to your enquiry.
June 25, 2018 at 21:12
a couple of days.
June 26, 2018 at 05:25
Hi dear Brit,
I am a dv 2018 winner CN is 2018AS127XX as we all know Asia is current, but i still did not get my 2NL
1. Should i wait or email to KCC ?
2. how many days more should i wait?
3. Does 2NLs for August interviews have a due date?
I am really worry for not getting my 2NL please help, Thank you very much.
I am from Afghanistan.
June 26, 2018 at 05:29
1. Either
2. Up to you, there are no rules.
3. I expect more 2NLs to get sent this week.
You should understand this though. Currently cases by Afghans are experience LONG delays after interview. There is a chance that you won’t be approved before the end of the year (September 30, 2018). So – decide carefully whether you want to risk the fees etc.
June 26, 2018 at 05:43
It means that cases who are interviewed and if they don’t get their visa before Sept 30 the green card is over for them?
June 26, 2018 at 11:43
Yes!
June 26, 2018 at 18:11
Yes
June 26, 2018 at 07:51
Hello
I have a child who is 21 and protected according to cspa as july got current and we have interview on July. When I check the ceac case status, my wife and I got cases ready but my son didn’t. But he is in the 2nl as bebeficiary. Why is that?? Can he get a visa.
June 26, 2018 at 18:44
That is normal. Contact the embassy and inform them that your son will be attending. Print out the CSPA info for the interview – they may not understand how it is implemented and giving them official info will help avoiding AP for that issue.
June 26, 2018 at 12:25
Hi sir!!! Excuse me, I’m from Ivory coast, last week I wrote to KCC then they sent me this message “Your case number is now current for interview processing.” Up to now I have not reveiced my 2NL yet. Should I call my embassie or wait? Thank you for all.

Hello Brit. My case number AF52xxx from Cameroun. When I check my status I get this. Really can’t interpret what is means. Please follow the instructions you received from the National Visa Center (NVC) that list the six steps you must take before NVC can schedule your visa interview appointment. This includes submitting to NVC various fees, forms and documents. Once NVC has received all the required items, they will let you know if anything is missing or incomplete. You can also find these instructions online at http://nvc.state.gov (English) and http://nvc.state.gov/espanol (Spanish). You will find contact information for NVC at http://nvc.state.gov/ask.
But I haven’t received any mail yet.
June 27, 2018 at 04:05
IGNORE all of that. You are waiting to be scheduled – that’s all.

Hi Brit,
Thanks for your valuable information. I got married 25/6/2018. My case no 2018OC127X. Four days ago I emailed KCC to unlock my DS260 for adding my wife. They replied me with below email-
Thank you for your inquiry.
Your case number is now current for interview processing. Once the interview date has been scheduled, you will receive notification via email to check http://www.dvlottery.state.gov. If you need to make changes to your DS-260 you should contact the consular section where you will be interviewed, or bring the information about your changes to your interview appointment. Because your case is ready to be scheduled, KCC can no longer unlock your application.
In order for the Kentucky Consular Center to assist with inquiries regarding a specific Diversity Visa (DV) case, you must provide the Principal Applicant’s full name, complete case number, and date of birth in the following format (MMDDYYYY) as entered on the original entry. Please remember that the Kentucky Consular Center does not have the authority to tell you whether or not your specific case will be disqualified. Only a consular officer can do that at the time of your visa interview. Do not send any paper documents to the Kentucky Consular Center.

KCC won’t unlock now since you are about to get your 2NL.
So – once your case is at the embassy (a couple of days after the 2NL) you can ask the embassy what you can do.
June 27, 2018 at 15:28
Thank You Very Much…!?
June 27, 2018 at 09:28
I have contacted KCC thrice since my cn became current, twice I got the “your form have been received ……allow several weeks,”
Last week I contacted them and I got “pending embassy review” reply.

June 27, 2018 at 12:58
Hi Brit. I have the following question. A few days ago I received my 2NLs with my interview date scheduled at August 2. Today I checked my case status but the result shows that my case is still at NVC and currently I cannot register at the US embassy site for my interview. Should I worry? Or should I wait a couple of days and check my status again? Thanks in advance.
June 27, 2018 at 15:19
Wait a few days, and make sure you are checking the right case in CEAC
June 27, 2018 at 16:50
Hi Brit,
I am the DV2018 winner of Asia. My case number is 11XXX and had submitted my DS 260 last year in May. However, I have not received 2NLs yet and since I see someone who already got her 2NLs left msg in this website saying her number is also 11xxx which is similar as mine, I am worried about not getting 2NLs. I also check my status on CEAC and it shows at NVC.
So below would be my questions:
1. At what point do you think I should email KCC or the embassy to double check my case?
2. Does sending email to them help on accelerating the process?
3. What should I do if I don’t get 2NLs in the end of this months?
4. Given that Asia is Current, do people not in banned country in Asia all get interview?
Please kindly reply. Much appreciated.
Thanks,
Chichi
June 27, 2018 at 17:20
1. After this week.
2. No
3. Contact KCC
4. Banned people can have an interview if they want because there are a few (very few) cases that may still be able to proceed.

You can do it either of them but i think if you already decided to go to the new address update the embassy at the interview is batter because you be honest about any questions given to you about the US address you will go to
Just opinion and make sence

June 28, 2018 at 10:06
Hello suresh are you from nepal that u got 2nd letter? in which range was your case number?
June 28, 2018 at 11:29
Hi Darshan,
I’m from Sri Lanka. CN range AS12XXX. As from what I saw all the AS case numbers are current and interviews being scheduled. So if you are from AS range you will have to just wait patiently as Brit says. I did the same. Now it all depends on the interview.
June 28, 2018 at 15:24
I share my email sometimes for messages that must be communicated privately. britsimon3 at gmail
June 28, 2018 at 20:48
Thank you Brit. I have mailed you with certain pointers which I wanted clarifications. Appreciate if you could have a look and respond when time permits.
June 29, 2018 at 06:39
Glad to hear that, GOOD LUCK for your upcoming interview suresh ?
June 29, 2018 at 06:41

June 28, 2018 at 13:45
Sir in my ds 260 I wrote my previous work and I do not have a permanent job I work i work substitute teacher since 2013 each year I only work for three to five months and I wrote the names of the supervisor S in that time I mean in 2013 2014……and now some of this director are retired when I went to schools to get my work experience certificate the name of supervisor are different than in the ds 260 because they was supervisor in 2013 now 2018 they are retired but the period is the same will this be a problem and is it necessary to bring my work experience to the interview because I have high school diploma thank you
June 28, 2018 at 15:41
Prepare as best you can.
June 28, 2018 at 17:53
The period of time that I mentioned in the ds 260 is the same as the work certificate but the supervisor names changed 2013 supervisor is not the 2018 supervisor will this cause a problem
June 28, 2018 at 21:46
I don’t know.
June 28, 2018 at 21:31
Hi brit,
Firstly I would like to thank you loads for guiding and helping thousands on DV matters.
Few questions:
I might have to change the address I intend to stay in US which I mentioned in the DS-260. Will that be a problem? Also is it ok to put a hotel address or a friends address?
I am a Sri Lankan currently residing in Australia doing my postgraduate studies in IT while doing part time IT related work. Will that have any negative impact on my interview?
Any other tips you think I need to keep in mind at the interview?
Regards
Suresh
June 28, 2018 at 21:57
1. The address is where the GC will be sent – so a friends address would be OK, but not a hotel.
2. No
3. Be honest. Answer simply to questions you have been asked (don’t give answers to unasked questions). Overprepare paperwork.
June 28, 2018 at 22:34
Thank you brit. Will reply after the interview on how it went.
June 29, 2018 at 04:33

June 29, 2018 at 09:06
Knowing that you can’t change the outcome, which do you prefer:
Feel anxious or relax?
June 29, 2018 at 08:55
Has any cameroonian received 2nl during this second batch please I don’t really understand what is happening to my case.
June 29, 2018 at 21:31
I am preparing my documents and in the form i-134 there is a section asking about the beneficiary information and I have one kid her name was written in different letter wrong but I changed her passport and didn’t have enough time to unlock the ds-260 and change it so should I give the sponcer the name as written in form ds-260 or the corrected one
June 29, 2018 at 22:24
Use your own judgement.
