2NLs are starting to be sent for June interviews. Again, as has been the pattern for the last two months, these are earlier than normal, I expect we will see similar unusual process this month, so the 2NLs might be spread out over a few days, or even the next couple of weeks – I don’t know for sure. So – look out for the email – and check the ESC site.
Last month, some people got 2NL emails but then had to wait days or even a couple of weeks before the interview letter showed on the ESC page. Other people waited until the beginning of the following month to get their 2NLs and ESC page update. So – be patient, stay calm. If your 2NL is delayed, it has nothing to do with President Trump and doesn’t mean aliens have invaded. Just relax and be patient. Some physicians won’t schedule the medicals unless you have the 2NL in hand, BUT these interviews are for JUNE, so there is plenty of time.
The email itself has no useful information. It simply tells you to check the ESC site for the interview details. Some people that receive the email will find the ESC site is not ready, those people should try again after a few hours. Also, some people find the email itself goes to a trash or spam folder or somehow miss it. So – if you think you may have been scheduled but missed your email, you can check the ESC site, just in case. The 1NL (you have been selected letter) is replaced by a new letter which gives the appointment details.
*** please for our willing scrapers – let’s get scraping (as we can then identify the cases that have been scheduled, and that tells us how many interviews are being scheduled per embassy/region ***

Hi Simon,
Greetings!
One of the police certificate that i got has my old passport number on it. I guess the police department had my old passport details so they put that on pcc.
Would that cause any problems?
Appreciate your help as always.
Thank you
April 25, 2018 at 13:35
No problem.
April 25, 2018 at 11:55

April 25, 2018 at 22:25
Are you asking me or telling me?
April 25, 2018 at 22:29
Hi Simon.
I just have a question, I realized I filled my primary occupation under “other” yet it’s supposed to be under manager or communication. because I thought the job would be listed as a stand alone. I already received my letter. I wanted to know is it risky to unlock the form and correct or should I explain this day of the interview? Thanks
April 25, 2018 at 22:32
If you are already scheduled, you cannot unlock the DS260. So – just bring this up at the interview.
April 25, 2018 at 22:38
So sorry brit
April 25, 2018 at 22:54
Hi Simon
Unlock the DS-260 before being called in the visa bulletin would delay the interview date?
April 25, 2018 at 22:57
Typically, no.
April 26, 2018 at 01:46

April 26, 2018 at 15:36
I don’t think so – check with the embassy.
April 26, 2018 at 15:53
Hi Mr brit simon!
When KCC sending 2NL as my case number is 2018AF25xxx from Burundi ? but not receive the 2NL. . I am worried.
April 26, 2018 at 16:06
Maybe later this month. Be patient.
April 26, 2018 at 19:18
Hi Simon,
I planned on doing an AoS for a long time and therefore did not submit the DS-260, does it make sense to still submit it? I started to worry as in consular processing they “save” a spot for you in case you get the interview and therefore that seems to be a better chance than AoS. My number is in the 10,000s for AS. Advise appreciated.
April 26, 2018 at 19:24
There is time to wait and see what comes in the next VB, and perhaps the travel ban decision. Until then, you can hold off your DS260, whether you do CP or AOS. Incidentally, even for AOS I recommend submitting the DS260. Though not strictly necessary, it warns KCC and probably speeds the response to the FO when the FO request the file later.
April 26, 2018 at 19:54
Thank you for the reply. In general, would you recommend AoS or CP (given my situation)? And how would the next VB result determine my decision about DS260? Thank you!
April 26, 2018 at 19:59
You must decide your process choice. I won’t do that.
Regarding the next VB – well maybe you could be current by then – who knows. So – the smart move is to wait and see.
April 26, 2018 at 20:02
Thanks and understood.
If I was current, then AoS is the way to go, if not, then i better do DS-260..?
April 26, 2018 at 20:23
Re-read my earlier reply.
April 26, 2018 at 19:20
Thanks Brit
just now after ask you question
i got e-mail from kcc on my phone to check status
i have 2nl.
again thank you very much
April 26, 2018 at 19:21
Cool. KCC probably read the blog. 😉
April 26, 2018 at 19:44
Hi Brit,
Just got my 2NL yesterday. I was trying to register my appointment online as requested but the site was saying case not ready to schedule. What could this mean?
April 26, 2018 at 20:00
It means “case not ready to schedule” – so wait a week and see if that changes.
April 26, 2018 at 20:32
Thanks.
April 27, 2018 at 15:35

April 27, 2018 at 23:41
Hi Brit my sister is Dv 2018 Af21xxxxxx her interview is May 3 and she may error on her birth certificate and system is down. What can we do please answer me brit
April 28, 2018 at 04:40
If she doesn’t have the documents she will be placed on AP pending the production of the document. So – she should attend the interview.
April 28, 2018 at 09:01
Hi Brit.
I was reading through comments on previous posts you made. There was this guy who was arguing with you about Egypt’s “unfair” chances. During this you said that Cairo is far more lenient in their interview than places like France, Germany and South Africa (where I am from).
My question is what makes the embassies in SA strict compared to say Cairo?
Thanks in advance.
April 28, 2018 at 14:57
I don’t know “why”, but the effect is obvious – see link. As for the how, it means less strict application of the rules.

Hi Simon,
My number is AS9xxx. Not sure if there will be interview in August or Sep, but now reviewing documents needed. I saw they require you to bring unexpired passport valid for six months beyond intended date of entry. But my kids’ passports will expire March 2019. My question is, should I renew their passports before interview? But do I need to unlock DS260 to update their passport number which I’m afraid might be risky to cause delay. Or I just renew passport and just bring the new and old passports to interview without updating DS260? Do they accept this? Please advise. Many thanks!
April 29, 2018 at 14:33
You can take old and new to the interview.
April 29, 2018 at 23:39
Thanks! So I just go ahead renew my kids’ passports and no need to update their DS2016?
April 30, 2018 at 02:37
Correct
April 30, 2018 at 05:17
Thanks!
April 29, 2018 at 18:59

April 30, 2018 at 06:09

April 30, 2018 at 13:49
I don’t know. Wait and see.
April 30, 2018 at 22:45
I looked at April 30th file and would like to share few reflections for EU region for which I would like to get feedback/comments by you Brit and others who analyze data regularly. I also have one question down below for which i apologize in advance as I am sure it was answered but I could not easily find the response. I also do belong to group that believes power is in being informed (THANK YOU Brit FOR EVERYTHING!!!!) and apologies to those that would rather not look at the data.
It seems that Europe region as of this date has total of 11816 visas issued of which 1793 was issued in month of April. For reference on April 16th count of issued visas was 10970 which means that in about two weeks they issued about 850 visas which is a lot given that we have 5 more months to go. Here is the breakdown by Month of visas issued based on Month of the status update.
Oct 1273 + Nov 1615 + Dec 1271+ Jan 1320 + Feb 2218 + Mar 2326 + Apr 1793 = 11816 Total
So with 58% of time passed (7 months out of 12) they issued 66% of visas which fully explains why the numbers slowed down (especially since numbers of visas issued exceeded 2000 in both Feb and Mar).
I also noticed that number of ready cases from Oct to January stayed constant (no updates) so I assume that majority of these 176 cases will not get visas (for various reasons) – maybe few cases end up getting them but majority will not. February cases are now at 92 (compared with 150 on Apr 16th) so I assume only handful of these will get visas. Does this sound logical? Could it be that we are not getting some updates since we might not be checking all numbers every month!?
The challenge is to analyze deeper the remaining ready cases (1873) but I would like to understand the exact trigger for when is status date column changed and if all embassies are following consistent logic or there could be variations. Any help or guidance is appreciated.
By looking at remaining 5 months and the fact that EU can only accommodate about 7184 more visas, it seems that equal distribution would require pace of about 1435 visas issued every month. While equal distribution is not realistic we need to watch more closely pace of visas being issued and number of ready cases as that will give some indication on what to expect in months ahead. My sister has EU264xx and hope we get to this number by July 15th so that she gets chance for interview.
I apologize in advance if this is totally off but thought to share and learn from your feedback and reactions!
Best,
Goran
April 30, 2018 at 23:16
There seems to be 2 questions in there.
1. Ready cases sometimes indicate a “no show”, meaning the applicant submitted their DS260 – but then did not show up for the interview. In some cases those will be rescheduled, but many will always remain at “Ready”. Some cases are marked as ready after AP waiting for the next status (issued or refused).
2. We cannot know all the reasons for the status date updates – so honestly – it is best to ignore that date, or at least don’t try to infer something from it.
I agree that Feb and March issued number probably caused them to put on the brakes. Now there are less interviews per month, BUT there are cases already interviewed either in AP or ready status which will keep the issued per month at a pace more like April. We cannot be certain of the cutoff at this point – the ONLY sensible answer is “wait and see”.
May 1, 2018 at 20:23
Thanks Simon for clarifying that status date is not reliable to make any conclusions out of it as if there was some consistent logic it could have been useful. And yes I added second question at the end so forgot to update text above 🙂
Let me also just correct that there is only 6484 remaining visa for EU which means about 1300 issued for the next 5 months (i made mistake in my earlier calculation) … and yes I see that there are 361 Visas in Administrative processing (which is significant decrease from 928 as of Apr 16) of which some will be issued by end of year … I am assuming that these month end data extracts are a lot more reliable compared to the ones during the month since some embassies could be only updating their records once a month.
Yes fully agree and understand that we just have to wait and see but I will still look for pace of visa issuance to understand what numbers to expect. While it is impossible to determine new numbers one could understand if there is danger that in the last month they do not give any increase if number of issued visas ends up being very high and they choose not to increase overall quota (from 18300) … some nervous times ahead
May 1, 2018 at 22:08
Yeah – there are too many things we don’t know to determine what will happen next.
May 1, 2018 at 03:07
Brit,is there any hope for dv2020 application?
May 1, 2018 at 03:34

May 1, 2018 at 10:31
Hi Simon..many thanks for your help. I received my 2NL and currently preparing for the interview. Few questions if you don’t mind;
1. Vaccinations – what if we don’t have any way of getting them? My family and I have been residing. outside our home country for over 6 years and I am not sure we would be able to get the vaccination book.
2. Visa payment fee – can we pay via card or its only cash? The website sometimes mention cards are accepted and sometimes they say cash payments.
3. My son is less than 3 years. Should he do the medical exam as well?
Many thanks for your support.
May 1, 2018 at 13:18
1. The physician will administer vaccinations if needed.
2. Cash
3. Yes
May 1, 2018 at 11:49
Hi Mr Brit is difficult for me to start without to thank you for all .
May I ask because of email I can be disqualified .
1)First email it was not operating but in the DS-260 I apply the new email but the difference is only the number . (ex:1)moussa50@ xxxxxxx and 2) moussa@xxxxx)
2) I did send email to kcc but not answer now is one month ?
Please Mr Brit what to do in this situation?
I appreciated to much for all your sacrifice .
Thanks again

No problem. Relax
May 1, 2018 at 18:32
Hi sir what is NACRA visas
May 1, 2018 at 19:11
NACARA is a program (NOT DV) that was allocated 5000 of the original 55000 allocation for DV. So – DV now only gets 50000. Since NACARA doesn’t use all 5000 it is possible that DV is allowed to use some of those visas. Not certain. Possible.
May 1, 2018 at 19:34
Thanks a lot

Good day Mr Brit, I’m John from Cameroon, my case number is 262xx, I called the KCC office and asked why I haven’t received my 2nl up till now, and they lady said I should check my ESC page as from the 15th of May, and prepare for July interview. I submitted my ds260 since December 2017. Please sir, is this normal for all people with AF26000 or I’m I the only one?

Hi Britsimon! My sponsor, in the I-134 form, part 3 number 38 ticked “do not intend to provide specific contributions to the support of the person named in part 2” and he told my that it will not affect. Is that true?. I am a single and I save around 18 thousand dollar. What is your advice?
May 7, 2018 at 05:42
Can I submit this I-34 with my documents?
May 7, 2018 at 14:30
Yes take it to the interview.
May 8, 2018 at 09:52
Thank you so much
May 7, 2018 at 08:33
Can I submit this I-134 with my documents or it will be useless? I can not get a new one.
May 7, 2018 at 08:57
hi Bret I hv this to ask 1) is there a reason for the slow pace in the AF region( Cameroon in particular)? 2) is it possible for current cases not to b invited for interview?
May 7, 2018 at 16:20
1. Pace is about the region, not the country. There are various reasons for the pace, some we know, some we don’t. I have written much about it – please read…
2. Yes – typically though it just means a delay to the following month.
May 7, 2018 at 15:55
Sounds like you must use it then and see what happens.
May 7, 2018 at 14:29
THat is the wrong answer – so it will affect how they judge the I-134.
May 8, 2018 at 09:53
Thank you so much
May 8, 2018 at 00:07
Hi Mr. Brit,
Hope you are well. I just got a job offer in Case western reserve University in Cleveland. In my DS260, I wrote my address will be in north Carolina. You can update the permanent address at the interview or the POE.

Hello Sir
I got a reply earlier today from KCC regarding my 2NL delay. They said “Your forms have been received and pending further embassy review for the continuation of your visa processing”
As I Know from ”FAQ” This one means your DS260 forms have completed processing. If your case number is already current, you will get scheduled for interview in the next batch. If your number is not current you will get scheduled once your number goes current.
but my case number is already current (2018AF26XXX MOROCCO) so why I have not received the 2NL yet ?? i am so confused right now.
I am so sorry for bothering you.

The “next batch” could be July interviews.
