2NLs are starting to be sent for September interviews. Again, as has been the pattern for the last few months, these are earlier than normal especially given the 15th as a VB release date, I expect we will see similar unusual process this month, so the 2NLs might be spread out over a few days, or even the next couple of weeks. So – look out for the email – and check the ESC site.
Some people previously got 2NL emails but then had to wait days or even a couple of weeks before the interview letter showed on the ESC page. Other people waited until the beginning of the following month to get their 2NLs and ESC page update. So – be patient, stay calm. Some physicians won’t schedule the medicals unless you have the 2NL in hand, BUT these interviews are for September, so there is plenty of time.
The email itself has no useful information. It simply tells you to check the ESC site for the interview details. Some people that receive the email will find the ESC site is not ready, those people should try again after a few hours. Also, some people find the email itself goes to a trash or spam folder or somehow miss it. So – if you think you may have been scheduled but missed your email, you can check the ESC site, just in case. The 1NL (you have been selected letter) is replaced by a new letter which gives the appointment details.
*** please for our willing scrapers – let’s get scraping (as we can then identify the cases that have been scheduled, and that tells us how many interviews are being scheduled per embassy/region ***

Hello Brit, after so much waiting looks like I have been scheduled for an interview in first part of september (EU). In the first two weeks of august I have also my wedding planned since last year. Last year in May when I completed the DS160, I completed as unmarried, now I have two question on which I would appreciate your opinion
First one is, I will have to wait until after the wedding to announce at the embassy that my marital status has been changed? and request to recomplete the DS?
Second one, Can I do the doctor appointment together with my future wife, even thought she isn’t on the DS?
Third one, After the wedding her name will be changed, should we wait until she issues new travel documents and ID with the new name? and after that should inform the embassy? Or should inform that her name has changed, but for the interview go with the old IDs.
Thanks.
July 23, 2018 at 17:02
Why on earth have you left the wedding plans that late!!! That was so foolish. If you had married earlier, this would have been easy. As it is you have created a mess.
The embassy may or may not allow you to add your wife – and that decision affects all your other questions. In reality, I think it is highly likely that even if they allow you to add her, there will not be a visa for her because your case has been setup as single.
So – you will probably need to sponsor her once you are living in the USA. It will take two years – you will have to be working ion the USA, and she will have to remain abroad.
So – when you get married – contact the embassy immediately.

This is a very interesting dilemma, I think everyone would like to know how this turns out. Keep us posted.

Well no one else should deliberately get themselves into this scenario!!
July 23, 2018 at 21:05
Brit please help.
We are stuck at https://cgifederal.secure.force.com.
I am the winner of DV 2018, and already I have my 2NL.
We need to use profile to set TNT curier where to send our passport after interview. Warsaw embassy.
Profile was made by my husband in 2015 when we applied for touristic visa. Now we have to use that profile again cause webside shows me an error when I am trying to create new one (I got information that “Your personal details match the profile which already exists in our database”).
So my husband logged into that old account. At homepage was information about him (passport details and adress) and only adnotation about “Family Details: members 2”. We marked “schedule apointment”—> imigrant visa—>city—>Appointment scheduled by NVC or KCC Registration of delivery address without scheduling an appointment.
Also marked DV1. Because that form was already filled by my husband details I changed that for mine. Cause I am the winner of lottery – not my spouse. Probably it was wrong idea.
When I confirmed, webside asked me if I want to change details without opening new account (or something like that i do not remember exactly). I marked YES, and now we are stuck. They want picture of passport and we can’t even come back to homepage, when we log out and log in it is still the same page. https://imgur.com/a/SeqP6G1
What have I done? I thought it was OK but now I see I made mistake. Can I fix that? And how? Please Brit, let me know what to do?Is it over for me, will they disqualify me?
July 23, 2018 at 21:32
Creating the courier account has nothing to do with approval or denial of your case. It is simply about getting delivery after the interview. So – relax and bring it up at the embassy. They may let you pick up the passports.
July 23, 2018 at 21:57
This will drive as all crazy!!!
After doing translations of all the documents, I noticed that i really got married in another date!! meaning that on the D260 I wrote the date of my religious marriage its the only one I have in mind for 35 years but revising my documents I realized that my legal matrimony was 3 months prior the church, so I hope this won’t be an issue and they will be kind enough to correct it on the interview
what do you think!
The most important part of this message is to let everyone know about it for the future
Thanks
July 23, 2018 at 22:13
It’s not a problem. They are not looking for excuses to deny anyone!

Hi Birt..!
Thanks for your information. I m a dv 2018 winner & I got schedule for interview on August 14 in Sydney. I am a Australian Citizen. I got married on 25th Of June 2018 & I included my wife into my application. She got another DS260 filled by herself with same case number. My case number is 2018OC12XX. I am trying to get the information from us embassy in Sydney , where will be my wife’s interview will held & they reply me with below information:
My Question US Embassy In Sydney:
I am the primary applicant. I got married 25th Of June 2018 from Chittagong, Bangladesh. Last week I included my wife into my DS 260. And she filled DS260 for herself with same case number. I requested my wife’s interview place & they sent me email today that, our interview established in Sydney 14th Of August 11.30 am. I already booked my medical in sydney but my question is my wife , she doesn’t have any visa to travel in Australia for visa interview. Could you please explain me how she can attend in interview? Or can she attend DV interview in US Embassy in Dhaka, Bangladesh? Could you please explain me the procedures for that.
Their Reply:
Thank you for your inquiry.
We have scheduled an appointment for a visa interview in the Immigrant Visa section for you and your wife on the date printed below.
Each person immigrating, regardless of age, is required to have a medical examination in connection with an immigrant visa application. An immigrant visa will not be issued without the results of a full medical examination. Please refer to the following website for further information on the medical exam.

Could you Please Explain me what necessary step I have to take for my wife’s interview & where she will be get a interview, Sydney or Dhaka, Bangladesh? I am bit worreied about that.
Thanks…..!
July 24, 2018 at 05:26
It is not up to the US embassy to figure out a visa for your wife. They have setup an interview appointment, you AND your wife should attend. If she doesn’t attend it she won’t get a visa. You would then have to sponsor her once you are in the USA – and that takes around 2 years.
July 24, 2018 at 07:45
Hi Brit..!
Thanks for your quick response. I understand your point but how could she attend a interview in country, where she does not have a visa to go. I got married from Bangladesh but I am an Australian Citizen & my wife from Bangladesh. Is not that easy to get an Australian visa from Bangladesh. But Bangladesh have a US consulate centre in Dhaka, Bangladesh. My question is that can she attend a interview in Dhaka? If yes where should I have to contact for necessary step.
Thanks again…
July 24, 2018 at 13:55
No.
July 24, 2018 at 15:20
Were you born in Australia? Being a citizen of Australia and not born there means you shouldn’t have an OC number and will be deny for the DV visa.
July 24, 2018 at 11:17
Hi Brit,
I have not received my 2nl yet, so by going to the embassy help to know whether it has come but its not in my mail or maybe whether their is a delay of any kind? Thanks
July 24, 2018 at 14:04
The embassy don’t know anything about you until your interview is scheduled.

Hi Brit!
Our cn is 2018EU240xx and we haven’t gotten a 2nl yet . Are there any chances we don’t get 2nl?
July 25, 2018 at 14:20
I have to say Yes – even though that should not be likely.
July 25, 2018 at 09:49
Hi Britsimon,
Has ever happened in history of DVL that someone is current for september and didn’t received 2nl?
Thank you!
July 25, 2018 at 14:24
Yes
July 25, 2018 at 12:18
Hello Brit,
Last time I disturbed you was November 2017!
This time I need to ask you one important question that I couldn’t find answer anywhere else.
I live in India since 2012 at that time my passport was handwritten and now it’s computerised Afghan passport.
When I applied for police certificate they issued a clearance certificate based on my recent computerised passport. Is it fine or do I need the clearance for the handwritten passport as well?
Important to mention that I have already submitted that old passport to Ministry of externals Affairs in Afghanistan.
Please guide me on what to do?
July 25, 2018 at 14:29
I have never come accross that situation before – so use your own judgement.
July 25, 2018 at 15:09

Why are you asking?
July 25, 2018 at 22:27
Thanks Brits,I have received mine.Liberia 346**
July 25, 2018 at 22:32
I have one question. Lets say, during interview, I forgot one important document. Usually (USUALLY) how many days the consular officer would give me to bring and show him the forgotten document. P. S. I mean if the interview in late September, that sucks, if the mentioned time will be longer than 2 weeks.
July 25, 2018 at 22:36
Everything stops on September 30, so cases that are missing required documents are highly likely to miss out completely.
As for other times of the year – they give you as long as needed – BUT a delay in providing the documents can create a significant delay in getting the case approved.
July 25, 2018 at 23:40
Hello Brit,
I received the appointment letter today and the interview will be on September 13, 2018 in Morocco. Can I ask to change the place of interview to Tunisia? Will the date of the interview change if it asks for change to Tunisia?
What’s the best in your opinion? ?
July 25, 2018 at 23:54
Changing the location at this point would probably cost you your visa. The date of interview ouwl certainly change and there is no guarantee that you will get an interview at all.
July 26, 2018 at 00:20
I SEND DS 260 FOR ME AND ALL MY FAMILY BUT I WILL GO ALONE .
IS THERE Problem IN THAT?
CAN I GIT VISA JUST FOR ME?

Dear Simon,
your information is very useful for of us and appreciate with your help.
i have 1 more concern about travel to USA.
For Apply Green Card we have to pay and fill the resident address before we go US but have any problem if the address we filled is different state we plan flight to?
Ex: We filled the address is at Florida for green card but we flight to Texas.
July 26, 2018 at 14:23
No problem
July 26, 2018 at 14:27
Thanks
July 26, 2018 at 06:49
Dear Brit,
Do you maybe know what background check (after filling out DS260) is done for a derivative who lived in the US for a while on F1 visa and later H1B, but left the US more than 10 years ago – IRS tax reports, credit report, criminal background…? Thanks.
July 26, 2018 at 14:24
I don’t know.
July 26, 2018 at 07:20
Hi Brit
Got my 2NL an given an interview appointment date but was wondering whether i should visit the embassy before to know the medical day coz its always before the interview day
July 26, 2018 at 11:38
I don’t know how it works in your country (and what country it is), but where I live you schedule medicals yourself. I believe normally you’re expected to obtain and provide all paperwork (medicals, police records, bank statements, etc etc) on your own.
My suggestion is to go to your US Embassy website, find the immigrant visas section and read it _very_ carefully. Twice. And then once again, because it’s important to not miss any requirement and is very easy to do so. All the requirements and instructions will be listed there.
If there’s nothing about Embassy scheduling your medicals for you – which I suspect is the case, then find and call your local IOM office or whatever medical services your US Embassy authorizes to perform examinations (search for this information). Ask to schedule the exam, ask for anything not clear to you about the process, undertake it. Depending on how things are set up in your country, they’ll either send your files to embassy directly (so schedule appropriately!) or you’ll get the sealed envelopes that you’ll need to bring to your interview.
Good luck.
July 26, 2018 at 14:24
You schedule the medical yourself. Read the instructions!
July 26, 2018 at 07:27
It is always good to come back and provide the information when we seek advice and receive same on this forum. I think it make this forum MOre informative and educative. Finally, my friend case af34255 got 2nl yestaday and interview is set for September 13 I will be back with up date from the interview. thanks to Brit. The country is Liberia
July 26, 2018 at 08:01
Thanks Brit for your tireless supports. I am DV2019 winner and have already submitted my DS260 form. I have observed few date errors especially with year of graduation. I want to request to unlock the form for review. Is the timing ok? Please also assist me. what is the best answer for below security question?
Do you have document to establish that you have received vaccinations in accordance with U.S. Law? I answered “yes” because I have my vaccination card. However, all the required vaccinations are not recorded in the card. What is the answer for this question?
Thanks
MB
July 26, 2018 at 14:26
Yes you ca unlock.
Answer no.
READ THE GUIDE.
July 26, 2018 at 18:15
Thanks. I have another question. I have earlier applied for B1/B2 visa for me and my family. I planned for a vocation in USA. My interview date was May 31 but when the DV2019 result was announced, I checked and was over excited to be one of the winner. I therefore immediately submitted my DS260 on May 22, 2018. Out of ignorance, I never made any research before going for the B1/B2 interview. Though, I do not have any intention of immigrating unlawfully, I was denied due to this submission. My question is, If I unlock the form, should I indicate that I was denied B1/B2 VISA ?. The denial actually came after the submission of the DS260 form. I planned to leave it “No” since DS260 form was submitted before the denial.
Thanks for your professional supports.
July 26, 2018 at 19:13
If you unlock for any reason, update that answer, but otherwise your answer was correct at the time of submission.
July 26, 2018 at 18:50
Hello Brit . Thank you for your helping . My case number is AF38XXX and i got my 2nl yesterday . I have 2 questions I hope you can answer it :
1. when checked my CEAC Visa status it give me ready and i got this massage :
” Your case is ready for your interview when scheduled at the U.S. Consular section. If you have already scheduled an appointment for an interview, please prepare your documents as directed in your appointment letter and appear at the consulate on the appointed date and time. Otherwise, please wait until you have been notified of your interview appointment. Additional information about how Immigrant Visa interview appointments are scheduled can be found at:http://nvc.state.gov/interview.
Is it important massage or i just ignore it ?
2. My interview will be in Riyadh empassy
when I downloaded the Riyadh empassy PDF in the steps it tells me to register an appointment online , is that for dv applicants (means: does i need to register an appointment ?) or it is for other people ?
And thanks .?
July 26, 2018 at 19:14
1. Ignore
2. Follow the instructions.
July 26, 2018 at 19:08
Dear Brit,
In my eDV application, my name was as per passport. Morris Brown Jones and my School documents carries Morris B. Jones. As per the guild, should I also include Morris B. Jones in other name area on the DS260 form though I said “NO” in the eDV in other name? Is this significant?
MB
July 26, 2018 at 19:18
No.
July 26, 2018 at 21:33
Should i go to the embassy (Nairobi Kenya) to shedule medical or i should wait till my interview date..? Thanks
July 26, 2018 at 22:01
The fact that you are asking this question tells me you are not reading the instructions. DO THAT!
If your interview is scheduled it is YOUR responsibility to schedule the medical – in plenty of time to make sure the report is available for the interview.

July 27, 2018 at 06:53
Mr John please book your medicals before attending your interviews at IOM.
or book thro [email protected]
July 26, 2018 at 21:55
a question, can I have two sponsors? kind 2 person who sends me the “I-134, W2,1040), obviously I will only presented one during the interview, just if it will not pose a problem?
July 26, 2018 at 23:24
That is not a problem.
July 27, 2018 at 04:31
Thank you for your inquiry.
Your request to unlock the DS-260(s) you indicated is now complete. Unlocked DS-260’s can be edited on the Consular Electronic Application Center website. You may now make any necessary changes. Please note that unlocked DS-260s should be resubmitted as soon as the necessary changes are made. The failure to resubmit an unlocked DS-260 may affect the processing of your case, including the scheduling of your interview
I sent email to KCC,this what they sent to me..
I wanted to change the current status where I live,when I was submitting ds260,by mistake. .I wrote I live USA,N I didn’t realize .
I requested first email, asking if they have scheduled my interview, they told me they did not schedule my interview since I live usa, Bri..can I unlock my ds260 now to my status? My case no is 30k
July 27, 2018 at 14:01
The email is saying they have unlocked – so now you can correct the errors.
July 27, 2018 at 04:34
Am 2018 winner
July 27, 2018 at 14:03
2018 winner?? Oh wow – you have probably ruined your case. AS KCC told you, your address gave them the impression you did not need an interview. The final interviews have now been scheduled. You may not be able to get an interview. But correct the error, submit, and contact KCC to see if there is a way to get scheduled. Do that immediately or you won’t get a Green Card.
July 27, 2018 at 11:01

July 27, 2018 at 13:10
Hi Simon
Have you ever heard of a case which is below final cutoff but received 2nl.
July 27, 2018 at 13:14
Sorry I mean above cutoff numbers.
July 27, 2018 at 14:23
Normally no – but this year about 120 cases are like that because the AF was current for August interviews.
July 27, 2018 at 15:00
I have received 2nl letter. EU here, bellow 24500. The interview will be in September’s first days. Thank you Simon for your support.
July 27, 2018 at 15:16
Hi brit
Did updates on ceac site mean something. Is it a good sign?
July 27, 2018 at 15:34
Neither good nor bad.
July 27, 2018 at 16:11
In short it’s meaningless
July 27, 2018 at 18:31
consulates and embassies and KCC r finding obstacles to process ds260 so many interviews have been delayed because if CEAC does not work, did you notice so?
July 27, 2018 at 18:37
I’m not sure what you are saying – but I have written many articles about the processing problems this year.
July 27, 2018 at 19:19
i mean many cases have been delayed ,they may still call more winners in the first week of August
July 27, 2018 at 21:02
No more winners will be called.
July 27, 2018 at 20:52
Hi Birth
Got my 2NLs for interview but my question is We included my wife son name on our Ds260 forms but we didn’t play with him.
Q1. Is your child immigrating with you to the U.S at later date to join you. YES
Q2. I’m thinking if he is needed at the interview because his name on our appointment letter.
July 27, 2018 at 21:19
Explain what you mean.
Was this child born at the time of the DV entry period?
Was the child not on the eDV entry? If not – why not?
The fact that the child’s name is on the 2NL suggests he WAS on the eDV, but you are saying something different.
July 27, 2018 at 21:30
Q1. YES
Q2. NO and why? The child was on vacation.
July 27, 2018 at 21:49
If these answers are correct you are CERTAIN to be disqualified at the interview. The instructions are very clear and inflexible.
July 27, 2018 at 22:08
Dear Brit,
Thank you for all your help! I have been scheduled an interview for September. I just have few questions. Do I need to register an interview at the embassy for the courier service or is it just optional? I mean, after I have been already scheduled, I don’t need to register for anything else, just the medical and prepare documents, right?
And also, am I gonna receive any email/mail before interview? I mean something like a list of required documents for my case or do I just need to follow instructions online? Thanks!
Veronika
July 27, 2018 at 22:58
1. You follow instructions from your specific embassy.
2. Again – varies by embassy.
July 28, 2018 at 05:42

July 28, 2018 at 06:22
Hi. Is there still any chance for giving out remaining visas for Asia region in DV2018
July 28, 2018 at 13:22
There are more visas available for Asia than people who can take them.
July 28, 2018 at 10:06
Hi Brit. I tried appreciating before but didn’t get trough. Hope this one reach you. Glory be to God for his Blessings in our program. I want to appreciate you for your numerous help with information and instructions throughout this process. My prayer for you is that God will bless you and increase you in wisdom that anything you do will prosper. Thank you again and God bless you. Got my 2NL July 25, 2018 Liberia.
July 28, 2018 at 11:25
Hi Birth, I just realized that we included his name on the eDv entry
Q1. Will there problem any problem because is picture was not taken.
Q2. Is this child immigrating with you to the U.S at later date to join you. YES
July 28, 2018 at 13:31
I asked you that before and said it was strange his name was on the 2NL.
Now you don’t think you added his picture. For goodness sake – you need to get it straight in your own mind, and when you have done that – ask me a sensible question.
July 29, 2018 at 14:01
Brit I have a friend with a similar case.
The principal did not include her 2 step sons.
She included them in her ds260 but she said that they won’t go to usa.
Her 2 step sons appear in her 2nl

So – we are talking about a married couple with the husband having two sons under 21 from a previous relationship. The wife is the winner, but she failed to include them on the eDV. If all that is correct, then disqualification is certain.
The instructions say this:
~Include ~
all living step-children who are unmarried and under the age of 21 on the date of your
electronic entry, even if you are no longer legally married to the child’s parent, and even if
the child does not currently reside with you and/or will not immigrate with you.
And then:
Failure to list all children who are eligible will result in disqualification of the principal applicant
and refusal of all visa applications in the case at the time of the visa interview.

Hi BritSimon,
First of all i thank you for your efforts…
I have received my 2nl and interview id on 19 Sept.
Q1: I made a mistake by filing a wrong middle name which is not part my official name at first Entry. Honestly this was done unknowingly.
Q2: If i will tell the Consular to consider the names which are written under my civil documents and ignore the one appearing on 2nl. Do you think that this can be a reason to lose a VISA?
Your advise plz
Thx

1. That is a risk. Did you correct it on the DS260?
2. I cannot be certain. It is up to the CO.
