People are receiving their 2NLs for April interviews, it will take a few hours – and possibly even a couple of days before all have gone out.
The email itself has no useful information. It simply tells you to check the ESC site for the interview details. Some will find the ESC site is not ready, those people should try again after a few hours.
It would be GREAT if those that received their 2NLs would add a reply to this message saying when they submitted their DS260 and their case number. That helps us understand the processing time for the DS260 and let’s us understand the backlog
Please add your first submission date, and if you unlocked please add that resubmission date and the data you changed. That is helpful for all.
Now – if you do not get your expected interview, please come back here and read updates to this page to see the feedback I will have received.
Based on comments I have received, I suspect we will see some people with DS260s as late as December and even early January in this batch. The backlog is reducing somewhat, so whilst there will always be some backlog, we might be seeing slightly faster DS260 processing times.

February 22, 2016 at 18:15
Just got it! Very happy. Case EU21k. I added a newborn baby 15 days ago on the DS260 but she´s not in the 2NL. Should I contact KCC or just pay the fee and bring her to the interview?
February 22, 2016 at 19:04
No need to worry – it is normal the added name is not on there. Just prepare as normal (including medical for the child).
February 22, 2016 at 18:17
A friend just received her 2NL for April interview
Case Number 2016AF000054**
Submitted her ds260 on 5 January, 2016
Never unlocked
February 22, 2016 at 18:18
Hello Brit,
just got my 2NL for AS 54XX and got to know the interview date.
First submitted on May 31, 2015 , unlocked Jan 12 and resubmitted on the same day.
But i have a little problem here, i unlocked 260 and resubmitted successfully after adding my newborn baby, but in the 2NL, only my husbands name appear, as the beneficiary. what can i do now?
Many thanks for your guidance
February 22, 2016 at 19:01
That is normal – don’t worry about it. Just prepare for the interview and make sure the newborn gets a medical also.
February 22, 2016 at 19:21
sounds great then, thank you again for your guidance and advice.
March 1, 2016 at 18:09
Hello Simon,
I’ am little bit worried about this case now. I emailed the embassy and inform them i have added my newborn as a derivative. But they replied back to me saying that they can’t find my baby’s DS 260 and i MUST fill a new one for her.
But in my CEAC summary page there’s a DS 260 for the baby and there’s no other option to add a derivative or make changes in it.
i have emailed them about this situation and no reply (almost a week) from the Embassy (SL) and it’s very difficult to contact them via phone as well.
1. How to handle this situation?
2.Can i get any support from KCC regarding baby’s DS 260?
Many thanks
March 1, 2016 at 19:21
Stop worrying needlessly. The embassy can’t access the DS260 – probably because they don’t know what they are doing BUT they have given you a solution by telling you to complete a DS260. Just follow their instruction and attend the interview as scheduled.
February 22, 2016 at 18:19
Exciting. Have the numbers been released yet for Africa?
February 22, 2016 at 19:00
The next VB will be around the 10th of next month.

Interview April 5
AS4xxx
DS submitted May 25
Never unlock.
I have two questions please
1- do we have to do anything to confirm the date of interview? “online appointment schedule like non-immigrant visa ?” or we just we go at time in the letter?
2- at the end of the letter they wrote “If any documents are listed below as incomplete, please present the completed documents at the time of interview.” i can not find any comment or documents needed bellow. is this okay ?
Thanks in advance 🙂
February 22, 2016 at 18:59
1. No confirmation needed.
2. Yes its ok.
February 22, 2016 at 18:46
Hi Simon,
Received my 2NL an hour or so ago! I completed my application on the 31st of July 2015 and then had it reopened late January to add my now Husband. Hope this helps! Nicky.
February 22, 2016 at 18:58
Awesome – so adding your husband didn’t delay you at all. Great!
February 23, 2016 at 14:46
No it didn’t delay it at all – thank goodness! I have another question for you… Are you able to tell me where on ‘prepare supporting documents’ that it says to provide financial stability, etc? Am just trying to find something on the website that is more concrete.
Cheers,
Nicky.
February 23, 2016 at 15:24
It doesn’t list it there. The most obvious place you could have seen so far is on the FAQ for the DV lottery instructions – question 37 I think. However, it is part of standard immigration law and it is covered legally in the 9 FAM document which is the “bible” for how immigration is handled.
February 22, 2016 at 18:52
Received my 2 NL – submitted in June, re-opened also in June.
Thanks!
Oh, and I’m from Europe.

February 22, 2016 at 19:56
Personally I would get a newer police certificate if possible.
February 22, 2016 at 19:39
Hi britsimon
Actually we recieved both the e-mail and the interview date. My father was the principle applicant and my mom and i were the beneficireis. On the ds-260 we filled all the things as they requested. My sister whose birthday was at 21 May 2014 is now listed as the beneficiary, she was never listed as a child under 21 on either the first form, but on my father’s and my mother’s ds-260 she was listed as their child over 21″ But she is now listed as the beneficiry with my mom and i. What should i do?
February 22, 2016 at 19:59
A child over 21 (and outside the CSPA additional period) cannot be a beneficiary. It sounds like someone submitted a DS260 for her – but that cannot be approved. You could call the embassy in a few days (not yet) to clarify.
February 23, 2016 at 18:19
Dear Simon, do you think that case will not be denied as the child born on 21-May-2014 was not mentioned on the initial form?
Thanks
February 23, 2016 at 18:24
So the child was about 5 months old, but not listed on the initial entry? That case will be disqualified at interview.
I think you are referring to the case above which is about a person who turned 21 – not a newborn.
February 22, 2016 at 19:44
Thanks Britsimon for all your help , I received 2nl just 45 minutes ago
initial form submit was 01/10/2014

inquiring about my form processing telling me its finished and waiting for the embassy further review
14/11/2015
2NL : 22/02/2016
February 22, 2016 at 19:46
Interview date : 04/07/2016
February 22, 2016 at 19:48
Hi Brit I am so happy for 2NL and here there is DHL registration required. So, in creating account shall I use new password or my existing email?
What to be filled at DS- 260 number space? Thank you Sir!
February 22, 2016 at 20:00
Use whatever you want for email/password. You can use your DV case number
March 1, 2016 at 16:28
Dear Simon how long does the status stay in transit cos ever since i received my 2NL my status is saying in transit and i cant register for DHL or interview confirmation?
March 1, 2016 at 17:51
The in transit thing is simply because the embassy hasn’t updated CEAC. It doesn’t mean anything.
The DHL system never recognizes DV cases, so work around that message by choosing a different option of visa/appointment.
February 22, 2016 at 19:59
Dear Britsimon;
On october 22, 2014 I submitted the first dv lottery form in the name of my father. On his form my mother and i( 05-01-1995birthday) was listed. On 5th of may the results came and on the 22 of May we submitted the DS-260. When we opened the form there were three forms available for my Father my mother and I. In my Father’s and my Mother’s DS-260 my sister whose birthday is May 22, 1994 was listed as their child over 21. Now in the coming form she is listed as the beneficiary. Please help me what should i do?
February 23, 2016 at 07:33
Hello Sayed
Based on the date in your submission your sister was actually 20 years during the eDV application.
Brit – if that is the case, will there be a problem
February 23, 2016 at 16:24
There is some protection for someone that turns 21 during the process – but in this case she has aged out.

Hi Simon
Just got my interview date – 13th April, my number is EU22k and I submitted 29Jul15.
Thanks for your blog!!
Chantal
February 22, 2016 at 20:08
I am having issues with the confirmation number. On my form it is 10 letters and numbers Instead of 16….what am I doing wrong?
February 22, 2016 at 20:14
I’m not sure what 10 number coide you have. If you are talking about the ESC site – it is the original confirmation number you got when you entered the lottery, not your case number.
February 22, 2016 at 20:14
Dear Simon
No one has submitted a ds-260 form. I did the procedure.
February 22, 2016 at 20:32
I received an email …went to the website …just telling me thank you its been forwarded to the embassy ..no dates for the interview though
February 22, 2016 at 20:41
That is unusual. What embassy is that? Perhaps it is one that prefers to schedule their own appointments??
February 22, 2016 at 20:47

February 22, 2016 at 23:52

February 23, 2016 at 02:05
Hello Mr. Simon, the patron of success seekers,
Kindly address this question for me:
Will it require a DV Interviewee/DV visa applicant to get a new passport if s/he changed the address in the passport that s/he provided info of during the submission the DS260
February 23, 2016 at 02:33
Not usually. Many countries use a passport that does not contain the address…. so it is not important to the USA.
February 23, 2016 at 02:56

Hi Siom,
My interview is on April 2016 and I got married after DV result and have unlocked my form and added my wife’s name name in Oct 2015.I have a question is it necessary to fill DS-260 separately for my wife and how should I proceed it if so. Can I get clear instruction on this ??
February 23, 2016 at 16:06
Yes she must have a DS260 You should have done that in October. Log back in to your DS260. There is a button to add a derivative. Click that and complete the form.
February 24, 2016 at 01:40
Thanks much for the info..but my ds 260 is already locked i cant see the derivative options and have interview on april..is it ok?
February 24, 2016 at 03:36
Well you should speak to the embassy in that case. I don’t know how they will respond.
February 23, 2016 at 04:43

CN: EU16XXX
Submitted: 15 December 1015
Unlocked: 8 February
Never resubmitted and my form is still open. Despite of that I’ve got 2nl.
February 23, 2016 at 16:25
That is the second case I have heard like that. KCC have implemented some new system I think…
If it is a problem for you you can contact KCC or the embassy to discuss.
February 23, 2016 at 18:58
I did contact KCC and they sent me a generic response that my form is now unlocked. Also that my case has been forwarded to the embassy and further inquiries must be directed to them.
I would prefer my interview to be May instead of April. Do you think changes can be made at this point? And if I talk to the embassy to postpone the interview, does it lead to negative implications for my case?
Thanks for the help!
February 23, 2016 at 19:18
Postponing can cause problems – so you have to weigh up your options. But yes, once the case has been sent – it is up to the embassy to talk about rescheduling etc.
February 23, 2016 at 08:33
Hi Britsimon,
I am a green card winner 2016 my number is 37xxx when is likely to be my interview and another quiz is that am pregnant outside wedlock what can i do coz am not planning to get married.
February 23, 2016 at 16:16
I’ve answered this same question from you TWICE already.
February 23, 2016 at 08:37
Dear Simon,
I just received my 2 NL. DS filled in late October and unlocked first week of NOV and submitted the next day 201621xxx.
I have one question if you don’t mind. In my 2NL letter it is stated that my wife and my son as a beneficiaries, but when I filled my form (Ds) I filled as my family will not go with me but they will join me at a later time. So I am confused here what this exactly does this beneficiary thing mean, am I suppose to take them with me to the interview or what, and they haven’t even filled a Ds form?
February 23, 2016 at 16:16
Well read the link below about your decision. But to address the notification. it came with their names because that is how you entered the DV. It does not mean they have to attend the interview.
https://britsimonsays.com/faq/dv-process-versus-family-based-immigration/
February 24, 2016 at 05:10
Thank you dear Mr. Brit,
I have one more question is it possible to fill to fill the Ds form for them now after my 2NL and make an appointment for an interview before the fiscal year?
thanks once again
February 24, 2016 at 07:03
You would have to discuss that directly with the embassy.
February 23, 2016 at 09:25
Dear Mr. Brit,
Case No. AF00023XXX
I have submitted DS 260 on 20th December 2015. My interview date is on 12th April 2016 in Kuwait along with my wife and son.
My son is studying in USA and we need him to attend the interview in USA. So please advice me how can my son get an interview appointment in USA.
Or else I would like to attend the interview with my wife only as he has examination schedule during that time.
Awaiting for your kind reply.
Thanks & Regards
Adel
February 23, 2016 at 16:12
You have made that much more difficult. There is a form I-824 that you will need to complete and submit to the USCIS in Chicago. However, it will be hard to get them to take action before September 30, and that would mean your sone will not get a visa. You would then have to sponsor him through normal family based immigration. I would have advised you to delay you own appointment and have him fly home – but it would be unwise to delay now that the appointment is scheduled.
The I-824 link is below. Discuss this with the embassy and see if they can help at all or have a different suggestion.

Dear birtisimon!
I have been current for the interview, but on the Ds-260 form my daughter’s birthday is listed wrong. Her birthday was on 1993 but on the ds-260 we filled 1994. Could i unlock it and make this mistake correct?
February 23, 2016 at 15:26
You have been scheduled for interview I believe so you cannot unlock now. She is aged out anyway, so there is no need to correct before the interview – correct it at the interview.
February 23, 2016 at 15:00
hi sir, thanks for your hard work. please as the 2NL are out now, when are you going to make your previsions for the next VB? we really appreciate that and it is very useful. best regards.
February 23, 2016 at 15:21

February 23, 2016 at 15:27
And I would like to know what you think about Lomé embassy. is it one of the embassies that have a high rate of denial? sorry to disturb you.
February 23, 2016 at 15:38
Sir my sponsor is going to buy a new house soon . So he is saying me that he will mail me the welcome letter with his new adress in it. So will it be ok? Welcome letter with new mailing adress.is there anything to worry about it??
February 23, 2016 at 16:00
That will be fine.
