Generally these come out as in batches over a period of a few hours or a couple of days at most. If you expect your 2NL and you have NOT had it within a day or two, it probably means you submitted your DS260 late.
It would be GREAT if those that received their 2NLs would add a reply to this message saying when they submitted their DS260. A survey like that helps us understand the processing time for the DS260 and let’s us understand the backlog.
***** UPDATE*****
*** READ THIS BEFORE ASKING WHERE IS YOUR 2NL****
Having had some feedback, it looks like DS260s submitted up to mid to late May have been processed in time for October interview. I have only heard of one June submitted case and a couple of late May cases that have not processed in time.
NOW – not all cases are processed at the same pace – some take longer than others. So – there may be some more 2NLs sent on 8/26, but if you submitted your DS260 from June or later, you are probably too late for October interviews. As a rough guess, Next month (November interviews) will probably be June submissions, and then submissions in July will be for December submissions.
Being late is not a problem – if you are interviewed in November or December and so on that is not an issue – so please relax.

Can somebody write to kcc to unlock a file just because he knows the case number? Thanks
August 27, 2015 at 01:29
You need full name, date of birth and case number. With that, yes they will unlock.
August 27, 2015 at 08:08
What should I do to prevent that
August 27, 2015 at 15:03
Don’t give anyone your case number etc.
August 27, 2015 at 19:00
Please, what should I do? Someone who has my details is threatening me that I should give him some amount of money else he would write to kcc to unlock my file. This means he would alter the information I submitted which would go against me.
August 27, 2015 at 19:03
You could contact KCC, but really there is not much they can do about your mistake.
August 26, 2015 at 17:43
Hi
2nd letter they will send it one time every month or can send again after few days some letter
August 26, 2015 at 23:57
Hi Britsimon,
Is says: Invalid Immigrant Visa Case Number. Do you have any instruction on how to sign in?
August 27, 2015 at 01:25
Sign in to where?
August 27, 2015 at 02:30
to where it tells me the 2nl notification? All I see is the log in into my case and I see the Completed Ds 260.
August 27, 2015 at 03:33
Well, if you received an email from the KCC you should be able to see your 2NL at the “DV Entrant Status Check” website, you know, the website where you had your 1NL which was the letter that said “Dear AlbGC, You have been randomly selected….”
This is the web address: https://www.dvlottery.state.gov/ESC/
August 27, 2015 at 04:11
By the way, the ESC website is down for selectees and non selectees. As far as I know, the onlu ones who aren’t getting a ‘request time out’ message are the ones who were sent their 2NLs.
If it isn’t loading don’t worry or don’t assume you’ve made it to the 2NL. No email means no 2NL.
This is a patience game after all.
August 27, 2015 at 03:14
Hi Brit. I just discovered I put my father’s date of birth as 1 June but it’s 1 January. Am current for October but I delayed so am sure my interview will be in November. Do I need to unlock my ds 260 or is it not a big deal?
August 27, 2015 at 03:44
I know this question was addressed to Simon, but I might as well answer it:
Yes, you should unlock it and fix it.
Why?
Because when you submit your DS260, the KCC will send all the information to the FBI to perform a “Name Check”; the purpose of the “name check” is to make sure that the applicant is not abusing the immigration system or is a potential threat to the U.S. That process takes from 30 to 120 days, depending on the applicants country and previous travel history. During the name check they also process family information.
Also, I don’t know what information is on the birth certificates from your country, some countries print the full name of the parents and their DOBs. In order to avoid any miss matching info, I’d unlock it and fix it.
August 27, 2015 at 03:47
Thanks
August 27, 2015 at 05:49
Honestly, it isn’t a big deal, but it won’t harm (or delay you) to update it. The advantage of updating it is that it will match up more accurately if you ever decide to sponsor your father to live in the USA.
August 27, 2015 at 05:17
Dear simon…
I have receive an email tell me to sign in ESC but when I try… I got TIME SISSON OUT. What do u think.. I also use my smart phone
August 27, 2015 at 05:45
Seems like people are having issues – just wait a day or two…
August 27, 2015 at 06:02
Yahh.. Thnx I guessed so stay well
August 27, 2015 at 07:31
AFTER GETTING MAIL FROM KCC I TRIED SO MANY TIMES BUT
I AM AS WELL CAN’T LOG IN TO THE https://www.dvlottery.state.gov/ESC/ WHAT IS THE PROBLEM
August 27, 2015 at 15:06
There is a technical problem affecting a lot of people – just wait a day or two.
August 27, 2015 at 15:53
When did you submit your DS260. Also, what geographic area is your case assigned to?
August 27, 2015 at 07:49
I am not clear with ‘unlock’ in diversity visa processing? What do it mean? Once if I sent my Visa application and Alien Registration to KCC and received confirmation, how did unlocking works?
August 27, 2015 at 15:04
The DS260 is the form submitted online with all the details. When you submit, it gets “locked” to not allow changes. You can UNLOCK it by emailing KCC.
August 27, 2015 at 16:20
I open ds260 site many timesjust opne n close but I didnt change anything that is a problem ?huh
August 27, 2015 at 17:02
No problem.
August 27, 2015 at 11:48

August 27, 2015 at 14:54
DV lottery teaches you patience….
August 27, 2015 at 13:32
Hello Brit,
Do you know if during this period of time that the dv lottery website hasn’t been working, somebody has received the 2NL? I am just curious if they also stopped sending the 2NL due to technical issues….
Regards,
Lara
August 27, 2015 at 14:20
We don’t know – it is hard to tell when they DON’T do something why they didn’t do it.
August 27, 2015 at 13:40
Just to clarify my question, I specifically refer to the reception of the email that notify the change of status at the ECS website…..has somebody received that email while the website has not been working ?
August 27, 2015 at 13:47
I wish someone could answer her question, that could relieve some stress
August 27, 2015 at 15:15
Dears

August 27, 2015 at 17:06
Hi Simon
Will there be any problem if we enter CEAC just to see current processing site?Or we should not do so?
August 27, 2015 at 17:26
It is there to be checked…
August 27, 2015 at 17:51
Thank you for your reply
August 27, 2015 at 17:43
Hi Simon!
I submitted my DS on May 25th. My case number is EU18XXX. I checked and til now I don’t have an interview date.
August 27, 2015 at 18:06
Of course you don’t – your case number is not current yet.
August 27, 2015 at 18:10
Please what is the subject of 2NL email received from KCC. Can someone help me with it ?
August 27, 2015 at 18:19

It is sent from [email protected]
August 27, 2015 at 18:21
Thanks
August 27, 2015 at 19:20
My cn 2016AS1xxx, so im current for October
I submitted my ds260 on 20 may
Unlock twice in June, my last submit was on 30 June, unfortunately i didn’t get the 2nl 🙁 , hopefully I’ll get it next month
August 27, 2015 at 19:48
It sounds like you either changed something that required some reprocessing, OR the unlocks were timed at a point that slowed your processing down.
Doesn’t really matter – you will just be interviewed later….
August 27, 2015 at 20:02
Is it possible to get 2Nl after few hours or tomorrow ?
August 28, 2015 at 01:26
They have probably all gone out now.
August 28, 2015 at 14:08
I sent them an inquiry, and after one day they answered:
“Your forms have been received and are currently processing. Allow several weeks for processing. Interviews are scheduled numerically based on case numbers that have completed processing.”
August 28, 2015 at 16:04
OK – yes – still processing.
August 27, 2015 at 20:07
Simon…. I told u that I couldn’t sign in ESC to see my 2nl ( I got an issue) know I got my 2nl and my appointment interview on 28th oc Big thanks simon

August 28, 2015 at 01:22
Great!
August 28, 2015 at 01:23
How do you guys sign and how does it look, please?
August 27, 2015 at 21:50
Hi ,
I checked through ESC again and all I can see is the letter of winning info.
Do I need to check again somehow?
August 27, 2015 at 23:14
Nope. Your DS260 wasn’t processed soon enough for your case to be scheduled (only if your case is below the threshold, otherwise even if you had submitted it in may you wouldn’t see a 2NL if your case number wasn’t current.)
August 28, 2015 at 01:20
No, it sounds like you submitted your DS260 too late (after late May was the rough cutoff) OR your case number is not current. So – it will be in a later month.
August 28, 2015 at 01:22
All right then. I just need to be sure that I am not missing the interview date notification letter. How does it look anyway?
Thank you
August 28, 2015 at 06:57
alright now saw my sec letter ystrday for intervies scheduled on 19th oct.
now what all i have to next?
August 28, 2015 at 13:17
Prepare your documents, schedule the medical.
Instructions for that – here:-

August 28, 2015 at 09:29
Dear Simon
Is it possible to happen that DV selectee sometimes do not receive 2NL from KCC despite of being current and ds260 form processed completely?Hope you don’t mind….Thanks
August 28, 2015 at 13:12
Nope. They don’t “forget” people.
August 28, 2015 at 13:14

Dear Simon I put my chargibility Bhutan as It is my birth place. But I summit travel document of Nepal as iam the citizen of this country. Iam the winner of DV 2016. Iam selected from Nepal or Bhutan ? I am so much worried why my 2NL letter not come yet ? As my case number is not so far and I summit Ds260 form in 7 June
August 28, 2015 at 16:06
You would be counted in Bhutan. 7 June was probably too late – you will get your 2NL next month.
August 28, 2015 at 14:45
when they send out the next 2NL for November interview…… any pridictions..
thank you in advance
August 28, 2015 at 16:06

August 28, 2015 at 14:53
Can some help and answer my question plz
August 28, 2015 at 17:20
Hey Brit,
When is the i-134 form from our sponsors needed? How do they get the form from KCC?
August 28, 2015 at 17:30
You take the form to the interview yourself. And you can download the blank form from the internet. Google I-134.
August 28, 2015 at 17:51
So my sponsor should fill it and send it to me ASAP? I ACTUALLY THOUGHT KCC WUD SEND THE FORM TO THEM ND THEY IN TURN SEND IT TO ME
August 28, 2015 at 19:25
I have done it in the past for a previous visa. The sponsors need to print it and fill it up for you and send it to you, so that you take it with you to the interview.
You will also need to ask them a proof of their income, that can be a 1040 tax form or the W2.
August 28, 2015 at 20:33
OK THNX DEAR..WATS THE TIME GP THAT MY SPONSOR SHUD SEND IT? I WILL BE CURRENT MOST LIKELY AT THE END OF THE YEAR,DNT WANT ANY DELAY..PL ANS
August 28, 2015 at 20:42
Anytime before your interview. Don’t forget the tax forms (1040/W2) and official photo ID.
August 28, 2015 at 21:10
CAN I ALSO CHANGE MY SPONSOR?
August 28, 2015 at 21:14
Yes.
August 28, 2015 at 21:38
Hi there, I submitted my DS260 on June 11th, with CN 2016EU000065xx and today I got a response from KCC that my forms are still processing. What date in September is approximately the deadline for the forms to be processed in order to get 2NL for November?
August 28, 2015 at 21:55
By the time the VB comes out – around the 10th.
August 28, 2015 at 22:26
Hi Brit,
Please tell me more about sponsors. Do everyone need sponsors ?
August 28, 2015 at 22:35
https://britsimonsays.com/all-about-public-charge-affidavit-of-support-i-134/
August 29, 2015 at 17:50
Thanks Brit for the reply, I thought the same because of my IT background.
August 28, 2015 at 22:42
Thnx dear…but av sent two letters no to KCC to unlock my DS260 form but they havent done that yet..
August 29, 2015 at 03:29
Patience…
August 28, 2015 at 23:40
Buenas Noches!
Tengo mi cita programada para octubre, soy de Venezuela, pero creo no poder tener todos los documentos para la fecha pautada. Es recomendable reprogramar la cita? Cual es la manera más recomendable de pedir la nueva cita?
August 29, 2015 at 03:31
I do not recommend you reschedule – there is a risk that you get a big delay. Are you sure you cannot get your documents???
August 29, 2015 at 00:58
I submitted my DS260 application 2 weeks ago, so I am guessing its going to be a few months for me. I am getting my head around all of this so I don’t even know what a 2NL is?! Will keep reading your website.. 🙂
August 29, 2015 at 03:33
2NL = 2nd notification letter – the interview details.
August 29, 2015 at 01:58
Hi Simon.
I put wrong studies dates on the ds260 which I already submitted is there anyway to correct that or shall I just notify that on the intervew day. Thanks for your help
August 29, 2015 at 03:35
If it is a minor difference – don’t bother changing it.
August 29, 2015 at 03:05
Hey Simon
While filling up for DV-2016 lottery I put my year of birth one year small. And I happen to put that same year of birth in my DS-260 form. It happened due to confusion. And now that i have received my 2NL with my interview date. And all my documents have the same year of birth but my DV has a year less! What should I do? Is there anything to solve this or are they gonna reject my visa after they come to know the year of my birth that I submitted while filling the form is wrong?
You have been such a help. Thank you so much! I hope you can help me in solving this too.
August 29, 2015 at 03:37
There are some embassies that might let that pass, but the fact that you did that on two separate occasions is going to cause suspicion. I strongly advise you to correct that date on the DS260 to match the truth.
I should say that some embassies (like Ghana) would almost certainly disqualify you for this.
August 29, 2015 at 05:43
But i have already submitted my DS260 form and received 2NL. My interview is on oct. And I am from Nepal. Is there anything to sort this out? Just anything??
August 29, 2015 at 15:04
Yes of course – you need to prepare your documents and arrange your medical. All explained in the instructions you should be reading – dvselectee.state.gov/
August 29, 2015 at 08:12
Hi Simon, I know that it’s the best to have the high school diploma, but I finished high school many years ago and had my Bachelor degree in the US. And my high school has closed down and i can’t find my high school diploma due to several movings. Is it possible to just bring my Bachelor degree to the interview? Do you think it is acceptable?
August 29, 2015 at 14:54
Some COs have accepted that, others have stuck to their guns and insisted on secondary school info even when a Higher degree was presented. THat is because they are following the rules more accurately. For this reason I recommend you take High School certificates.
August 29, 2015 at 17:55
Thank you for the prompt reply Simon. I checked the link from the government instruction: http://travel.state.gov/content/dam/visas/Diversity-Visa/DV-Instructions-Translations/DV-2016-Instructions-Translations/DV_2016_Instructions_English.pdf
It says on page 9 that “U.S. immigration law and regulations require that every DV entrant must have at least a high school education…”
As it says “AT LEAST a high school education”, do you think it will help me with my case if I print this government instruction out and bring it to the interview?
August 29, 2015 at 18:08
No – you are misunderstanding. If you read the law concerning this it becomes clearer. There are ways someone can get permission to enroll in a University and achieve a degree – even though they did not meet the level of “US High School graduation”. So – the fact that you have a Bachelors does not (legally speaking) overcome the need to have passed high school. As I already said – some COs are more relaxed about that, but it is not something you can argue if they decide to stick by the letter of the rules and laws that govern the process.
August 29, 2015 at 08:45
Dear Simon when I check 2NL letter I see everything is same as in first letter but my case number is higlite and written in head and at the bottom also. What does it mean ?
August 29, 2015 at 14:51
Hi Simon.
My case no is 2016AS000020XX But I Submitted my DS-260 in june 30. so i know i am late to get 2NL. today when i checked my 2NL i got Same first letter but there is my case number extra added and highlighted in head and bottom . Like *2016AS0000020XX*. please it is making worry. i need your suggestion.
August 29, 2015 at 15:07
I have no idea why you are worrying about this…. and I am not clear what it is that is making you worry. If you like, take a screenshot and send it to my email address ([email protected])
August 29, 2015 at 14:53
I don’t know what you mean.
August 29, 2015 at 10:05
Hi Simon,
My number is current in October but I have intentionally delayed my submission to win some time.
If I want to have the interview in February, when should I submit? Also, do you think it is risky to intentionally delay it? For example the risk of running out of visas.
Thanks,
Mike
August 29, 2015 at 14:50
No risk of your plan. February interviews will be scheduled in December. So – your case should be processed by then. So far they seem to be taking 2.5 to 3 months to process. That could get slower (or possibly faster) in the next couple of months. So – if you submitted today you might just sneak in to January interviews – so wait a couple of weeks more. Now – there is a chance you miss February and get into March interviews – I can’t be certain of the timing since every case varies a little depending on your history. Visas will not run out until August/September of next year.
August 29, 2015 at 16:31
Many thanks!
August 29, 2015 at 13:05
Sorry to ask but I am new on this… What is 2LN?
August 29, 2015 at 14:42
2NL – 2nd notification letter – interview date.
August 29, 2015 at 13:06
Hi Simmon I am from Nepal. I was current for Oct ( my case no is around 240), but did not get the 2NL. I belived I could not get because I submitted a bit late ( mid June). As mentioned by Sabitra on earlier comment about the hilighted case no on the top and bottom of first letter, I have the same changes on my letter as well. Is this normal and should we expect for sepetember 2NL. I am just wondering if some one has similar experience. It would be great help and relief if some one could answer it.
Many thanks.
August 29, 2015 at 14:41
Yes if you read other messages you will see that almost everyone who got an interview submitted in May. There are not many (only 1 that I know of) June submissions. Your interview will hopefully be ion the next batch (November interviews) or, if your papers are still not completed by then, possibly December.
August 29, 2015 at 15:11
Dear Britsimon
I have a same changed in my first letter as Sagar. There is icon( case no- *2016AS000020xx*) head and bottom highlighted. I submitted my DS-260 application in june 30. what is the reason to do so?
Please.
Thank you.
August 29, 2015 at 15:32
Someone else is telling me the same – so that is 3 cases. I have not seen it myself – but I am guessing it might be a case that is processed, but not yet scheduled.
August 29, 2015 at 16:09
Same here i completed my DS260 in mid June. On my 1nl, the barcode is replaced by my case number enclosed in asterix ie. *2016AF00005xxx*
August 29, 2015 at 16:16
Me the same *2016AS00001XXX*

August 29, 2015 at 17:48
Thanks Brit for the reply,I thought the same because of my IT background. But I hope to get the 2NL next month
August 29, 2015 at 16:33
My 1NL has the same change. *2016EU00011xxx*, highlighted who replace the “bar code” in the head and in the bottom of the letter.
a second question: every one who is current will have the 2NL after his/her ds260 been processed?
August 29, 2015 at 17:40
https://britsimonsays.com/about-change-in-1nl-showing-highlighted-case-number/
Once people are current and their DS260 is processed, everyone gets scheduled. KCC do not disqualify anyone.
August 29, 2015 at 17:44
Thank you Simon
August 29, 2015 at 16:36
yaa Bar code has been changed in case number. I submitted june 30. case no. 2016AS000020XX.
