Generally these come out as in batches over a period of a few hours or a couple of days at most. If you expect your 2NL and you have NOT had it within a day or two, it probably means you submitted your DS260 late.
It would be GREAT if those that received their 2NLs would add a reply to this message saying when they submitted their DS260. A survey like that helps us understand the processing time for the DS260 and let’s us understand the backlog.
***** UPDATE*****
*** READ THIS BEFORE ASKING WHERE IS YOUR 2NL****
Having had some feedback, it looks like DS260s submitted up to mid to late May have been processed in time for October interview. I have only heard of one June submitted case and a couple of late May cases that have not processed in time.
NOW – not all cases are processed at the same pace – some take longer than others. So – there may be some more 2NLs sent on 8/26, but if you submitted your DS260 from June or later, you are probably too late for October interviews. As a rough guess, Next month (November interviews) will probably be June submissions, and then submissions in July will be for December submissions.
Being late is not a problem – if you are interviewed in November or December and so on that is not an issue – so please relax.
August 29, 2015 at 18:15
my case number has also changed with asterisks.
August 29, 2015 at 21:08
Is it safe to put ur 6yr old child in ur ds260 form being that he wasnt a part in the original registration form?
August 30, 2015 at 03:42
That is certain disqualification. Why on earth did you not list the child? The instructions are completely clear! That is the end of the process…. you will be disqualified.
August 29, 2015 at 23:52
Hello Brit
Please do you think KCC stops further processing of DS forms i.e background checks etc once request is made to unlock forms or various checks on information provided would still continue even after unlocking as long as the forms had been previously submitted.
August 30, 2015 at 03:38
It depends on the timing.
August 30, 2015 at 07:51
Hi..Simon sir ..I am grom Nepal … and my ds260 form submitted on june month… andd my case number is AS000055** and when I got interview notification and 2NL…which month i will appear the interview sir..
August 30, 2015 at 15:06
Summer 2016.
August 30, 2015 at 08:18
Hi Brit. i have submitted my DV 260 by 16th August 2015 when would i be scheduled for interview?
August 30, 2015 at 15:04
ell it depends on your case number, but also on when your DS260 is processed. Your DS260 will not be processed before October, so the earliest you could be scheduled is January interviews, but your case number could make that later.
August 30, 2015 at 10:02
Hi Bikram,
please go through this link
https://britsimonsays.com/when-will-i-have-an-interview/
As i am also DV winner and want to know the 2NL and interview date but it depends upon the case number that goes current and DS-260 process completion.
So even if you have submitted DS-260 on june you will not get 2NL within couple of months as KCC sends these letters before 6-8 weeks of interview.
I guess your interview will be scheduled in may-june 2016. Its just guess.
August 30, 2015 at 14:55
correct – thanks!
August 30, 2015 at 20:20
Hi Simon!
I submitted my DS on May 8th then had it reopened to add my father’s details and old UK address. Sent it back on august 4th.
I have a EU number between 10K and 11K. Which date do they usually use. 1st or 2nd?
Thanks a lot!!!
August 30, 2015 at 21:28
That depends how significant the changes. You aid old UK address. If they already knew you resided in the UK, that change is not significant, and would cause no delay, but if this was the first they knew about you living in the UK – that would increase the scope of their checks, and thus could cause some additional checks. Don’t stress either way – it is still early in the year…
September 1, 2015 at 18:39
HET! I din’t mention it because I didn’t wanna make any mistakes in regards to the dates and my different working place. I thought that to make lots of changes would raise unnecessary suspicious questions.
But thanks! I will let you know how things are going on. ๐
August 31, 2015 at 09:17
Hi Brit
My CN is 2016AF00027xxx and I submitted my DS-260 on the 21st of July. So I want to know at what point in time of the processing of my case will KCC request the AOS sponsor to file the I-134 form? Will I need to have a copy of my sponsor I-134 form or what?
August 31, 2015 at 15:21
You present the I134 at the interview.
August 31, 2015 at 11:45
Hi Simon,
all my family ( mom, dad, sibilings) are living in us except me. I win in dv 2016. Do you think it’s better to prepare I-134 ( by mybrother) or getting a bank letter that I have enough money for living in us?
Thank you
August 31, 2015 at 15:17
Why not do both – there is no harm in being over prepared.
August 31, 2015 at 16:03
Hello Brit Simon
I am having difficulty determining if my case is current or not and when can I expect to get my 2NL for the interview.
My case number is 2016AF00028*** and I have submitted my DS260 at first may 19th and again at 24th may but didn’t get any 2NL yet. I was just wondering is my case number current and if so when can I expect to be interviewed?
August 31, 2015 at 16:46
You are not current – here is how that works.
https://britsimonsays.com/read-visa-bulletin/
As for when you will interview:-
https://britsimonsays.com/when-will-i-have-an-interview/
September 1, 2015 at 01:48
I didnt get my second letter ,however by checking esc site i found my interview date arranged on october loaded on site ..so any one who didnt recieve a second letter also try checking esc site in order not to miss your interview
September 1, 2015 at 03:58
Your 2NL email might have gone to spam.
September 2, 2015 at 18:35
Can you please give us this web site link. Thank you
September 1, 2015 at 08:39
Hi Brit,
Pl,i’d like to know which email address do KCC send the 2NL? Is it the one we put in the DS260 form?
Pl can u also send a sample of the unlock letter u send to KCC coz i got a reply from KCC that my information was inadequate for them to respond to even though i put my full name, case number and date of birth
September 1, 2015 at 14:53
I have told you before to make sure you quoted full name, full case number and dob in the correct format (mm/dd/yyyy). If you changed the email address on the DS260 I think they might use that.
September 1, 2015 at 10:28
hi brit
i submitted my ds260 on 20 June . Is it the 2NL i revived by case no or by my submission date? i am confused. so when can i expect my 2NL? my case no is 13,XXX

September 1, 2015 at 10:30
If someone misses interview what happens next? i mean he will get another chance or he is just out of the game?
September 1, 2015 at 14:44
Some embassies will reschedule, others won’t.
September 1, 2015 at 18:46
Hi Brit
Hey sorry if this question comes to you again kindly bear with us. My wife is current, when we checked on the marriage certificate we noticed a printing error as I consider it MMary instead of correct spelt Mary but all the rest are spelled correctly, should this be a worry? We are treating it a normal typing error, is that safe? Thanks once again Britsimon for this great site.
September 1, 2015 at 19:17
I already answered that – I said:-
“Sounds like an obvious typing error โ so I donโt think it would be a problem.”
September 1, 2015 at 20:08
Thanks…
September 2, 2015 at 09:30
hi simon, thank your for supporting many many dv lottery winners 2016, god bless you.
i have a case eu10xxx and submited it 1 settember (i am single no children ect). i read about the interview date on your forum, i understanded that possibly i have to wait up to 8 weeks or more for the 2nl and generally my case nr was interviewed on december. do you think it might get a delay,if so they schedule the interview the following month or when there is a free visa number. what are your expectations. i dont know if kcc works on date submission or by case nr or something mixed.
thanks in advance.
September 2, 2015 at 13:09
Your date will depend on your case number, but can be delayed if you submitted your DS260 late (late in comparison to your case number). DS260s take about 3 months to process – and until they are processed the case cannot be scheduled, even if the case is current. So – the schedule is by case number, SUBJECT to the DS260 having been processed. If someone submitted the DS260 late and missed their current month, they will be scheduled in the next monthly batch after their DS260 is processed.
September 2, 2015 at 13:32
What do you mean by monthly batch? I am very anxious about this “problem”, i don’t want to miss this oportunity to get to the usa. Do i nave to worry about this?
Thank you
September 2, 2015 at 13:57
They schedule interviews in a batch, once a month – sending the 2NLs (appointment letters) toward the end of each month (about 6 weeks before the actual appointment). Don’t worry – everything will be fine. Relax.
September 2, 2015 at 14:09
Example: if my CN become current in november, but kcc finished reviewing ds260 on january i Recive 2nl, this means that my interview will be scheduled something like February march even if visa bulletin for february shows a higher CN. right?
September 2, 2015 at 14:45
Right.
September 2, 2015 at 19:29
I too have received my 2nl .I received it on the 25th of August .I submitted ds260 over a course of 4 days for my family of four. The first ds260 was submitted on the28th of May and the last one was submitted on the 31st of May. We have an October 6 Interview.
September 2, 2015 at 19:56
Great – thanks!
September 3, 2015 at 08:18
Hallo again Ms Simon is me MJ i have my interview in oc so i have to contact usa embassy but i do not no what to write
September 3, 2015 at 14:09
I don’t understand your question.
September 5, 2015 at 09:19
Yahh yes.. My interview is scheduled on October and I want to continue my process I mean…
When will I have my medical exam appointment..
I read from 2nl it’s a week earlier my interview date…
So in 2nl it stays contact with the embassy for ur interview
September 5, 2015 at 14:30
You need to schedule the medical, so Follow the instructions you were given.
September 15, 2015 at 09:13
Sorry…. Cause u misunderstood. I wrote twice what I want to not what should write…..
What’s important THANKS again yes I have made and appointment with the embassy Physical and I conformed the embassy I will attend the interview I sent an email and they answered me and told me to come 15 min prior
In additio for my information I asked my host in us to send for me a form shows that he will invisit me in his home
do u think that enough
September 15, 2015 at 10:51
I am struggling to understand your English.
September 3, 2015 at 12:33
Hello Simon.
I have checked the ceac site and entered the correct details ie case number without any zeros- dd/mm/yyyy. And applicant.
message that pops up says something like the information does not match there records please contact KCC.
This did not happen last week.
Should I not stress or what do you suggest.
Thank you for your time
September 3, 2015 at 13:51
There is some confusion. In the ESC site, you enter your confirmation number (plus dob and name), not case number.
September 3, 2015 at 23:32
Hey BritSimon,
I am really sorry if you have answered this already, i have tried looking through the comments but did not see anything similar.I submitted my DS-260 form on the 7th of May and since then have not heard anything back other than the DS-260 confirmation email. Is this normal as after reading through the comments there is alot of talk about the AOS stuff which I have not heard anything about. My case number is AF00020xxx.
Again sorry if this has been answered, just after reading through some comments I’ve started getting quite nervous thinking that i may have missed something.
Thanks for all the help you do, I really do appreciate it.
Regards
Jason
September 4, 2015 at 00:01
It is normal – nothing went wrong. Your case will not be scheduled until your case number is below the number on the visa bulletin.
Here is how you read the VB – https://britsimonsays.com/read-visa-bulletin/
And this is a rough guide on when you will get interviewed – https://britsimonsays.com/when-will-i-have-an-interview/
Hope that makes it clear.
September 4, 2015 at 03:49
does KCC send confirmation email after submitting DS-260? I have not received one. Some people say they have received confirmation email but i got only confirmation number after submitting DS-260.
September 4, 2015 at 06:05
Some people report getting it, as you say, but not that many do – don’t worry about it.
September 4, 2015 at 06:58
hi britsimon.i would like to appreciate your help in giving dv related information to individuals.
then i want to ask you one question.i am a dv 2016 winner from Ethiopia,is it mandatory to have the affidavit of support form i-134 in addis abeba embassy.am a little worried
September 4, 2015 at 16:28
The I-134 can be requested in Addis – but it is rare.
September 4, 2015 at 23:15
Hi, I won the DVD 2016….my cn is 2016AF000063**
But I unlock my Ds 260 and resubmitted it on the 15 of july, pls can u tell me wen I should be expecting interview?
September 4, 2015 at 23:25
Maybe November, more likely December.
September 5, 2015 at 05:45
Hello Brit,
When will 2NLs for November interview start?
September 5, 2015 at 06:07
About 3 weeks time.
September 5, 2015 at 07:42
thanks for your reply.you told me that it is rare to ask a i-134 form in Addis.so, shall i make ready or no need, what your advice me?
September 5, 2015 at 14:33
I would have one anyway – it is your call.
September 5, 2015 at 18:54
Hi Brit,
I just checked the visa bulletin for October and saw cutoff to be 9100 for Africa but I remember someone was complaining he has not received 2NL even though he submitted DS-260 forms in June and with CN of 68**.Please what culd be the problem
September 5, 2015 at 23:42
The DS260 takes time to process, so people that submitted in June onwards were too late for an October interview and will get a later date.
September 6, 2015 at 05:30
Hi Simon
03 September I Unlocked and resubmitted ,apromixetly when I’ll get second NL? My case number EU000044xx
September 6, 2015 at 14:08
Well again, you haven’t told me what you changed or when you submitted – so again I have no idea.
September 6, 2015 at 19:42
My case no is 8** for 2016, ds-260 submitted at 28 July . Now I want to ask you , when should I get 2nl and will held interviewed ?
September 7, 2015 at 05:06
I’m not sure, but I would guess your interview will be December with 2NL in late October.
September 9, 2015 at 08:26
Hi Brit. I had not braided my hair when entering the lottery so I looked young in October 2015. I have a long hair now and looked slight different from the pp I used for the entry. I have all my civil documents. Will the differences affect me. Was in high school then in Ghana. Learnt on yr wall that Accra is strict. Should I shave my hair for interview
September 9, 2015 at 14:01
Hair won’t make that much difference if the photo is recent that is fine.
September 9, 2015 at 14:19
hey Brit,
I had a nosee job done so I look little bit different when I entered DV2016
is that a problem? or should I just bring a new Photo to frankfurt?
and what do you think about my case DV2016446**
September 9, 2015 at 17:10
Well there is nothing you can do – so don’t worry about it. You will need photos at the interview anyway.
Your case is quite high – it will be a toward the end of the year before you are current.
September 9, 2015 at 15:49
Hi Simon
When do October current CNs receive 2NL – after November current CNs OR at the same time?Does KCC give priority to November current case numbers or it goes in accordance with case numbers?Hoping to get your response…Please
September 9, 2015 at 17:04
The 2NLs are released in batches. If a case was current in October but not scheduled because of a late submission, that case would be scheduled with all the others for the next available month, once the DS260 is processed. No preference.
September 9, 2015 at 17:20
Thank you so much

September 9, 2015 at 19:12
Hi Brit,
With this cutoff for Africa it means my CN 97** will be current for November since I submitted my DS-260 in June. When can I get 2NL ?
September 9, 2015 at 19:33
Answer here:- https://britsimonsays.com/october-visa-bulletin-released/
September 13, 2015 at 20:47
Hi Brit
Thanks for this unique site. I always enjoy your posts. My Brother and his wife were successful in their interview a week ago. My brother was the principle applicant but has a semester in school to complete by early January before leaving.
My concern is that is it possible for his wife to leave without him and then he follow later? Please advise…
September 13, 2015 at 20:57
The derivatives cannot enter before the principal. They must be together OR the principal must have entered/activated beforehand. The activation trip must be before the visa expiry printed on the visa – which is up to 6 months after issuance.
September 14, 2015 at 22:59
Hi sir.
Can you tell me when 2NL-s for this month will start?
My case is EU7** DS 260 form on 9 July
Thank you
September 14, 2015 at 23:05

September 15, 2015 at 16:08
Thank you!
September 15, 2015 at 21:19
Hello Sir,
Do you know in which date of September will start KCC to sent the interview date for November.
September 15, 2015 at 23:59
Not exactly – but about 1 to 2 weeks.
September 16, 2015 at 00:06
Hello Brit,
I just found out that I have been selected for the 2016 DV lottery. My case number is AS79xx. I have not submitted the DS 260. My question is if i can print out the completed DS 260 later if I do not have a printer at the time I finish submitting it.
Thank you.
September 16, 2015 at 01:18
Yes you should be able to do that…
September 16, 2015 at 04:56
Thank you.
September 16, 2015 at 18:40
Hello Brit,
My case number is 2016SA000003XX. I sent my DS260 form May 15th requesting to have my interview in my home country, Venezuela.
Right now Iโm in USA with my F1 visa for a master degree program.
I asked the KCC to unlock my DS260 form (August 18th) to change my principal address and put the USA address Iโm currently leaving and also I asked them to have the interview here.
I know that my case number is short and that I should already have receive my 2NL but I havenโt
Base on your experience what do you think about my case?
Thank you for your help
Amanda G.
September 16, 2015 at 21:27
If you are now doing AoS you follow a different process and do not need to wait for a 2NL. You need to know what you are doing to make sure you process the AoS case correctly. You are already current and could already have filed your I-485.
Go to the thread below and look at the spreadsheet linked from the very first post. That explains the process.
http://forums.immigration.com/threads/dv-2016-aos-only.326148/
September 17, 2015 at 01:32
Thanks for the link looks very useful!
They say that I have to wait to receive the 2NL from KCC saying that mi intention is to make AOS.
Do you know if the KCC assign the interviews with a patron, I mean if the send emails one day of the week or every two weeks or so?.
Once again thank you for your help
Amanda G.
September 17, 2015 at 04:46
KCC do not schedule AoS interviews, and no you do not have to wait for the 2nl. Read the thread and you will see that seems to have changed.
September 17, 2015 at 05:29
Sorry that I insist Mister Brit,
This is a fragment from the last email that I receive from the KCC:
“Based on the information you have provided, your interview location has been changed from Caracas to adjustment of status. The new interview location will not appear on your DS-260, but will be used by KCC for scheduling purposes. When we have scheduled your interview, you will be required to log into the Entrant Status Check (ESC) to view your appointment notification. At that time, please verify that your appointment is scheduled for the correct post. If for any reason it is not, you may contact KCC again at [email protected].”
What do you think?
Thank you
Amanda G.
September 18, 2015 at 11:58
Hello,i submitted the ds260 earlier this month and my case number is 2016AF00012743 and i would like to know whether kcc will send the 2NL through the email address i provided in the ds260 or the one i used during the initial application cos they different.i would also like to know approximately when i should be expecting the 2NL cos i emailed kcc and in the right order but i haven’t had a reply yet the only reply i get is the auto response.i am Eleonora from Ghana
September 18, 2015 at 13:54
It takes around 3 months to process your DS260, so you might get a 2NL in November for a January interview, but more likely a December 2NL for a February interview.
I’m not sure which email they will use – but if you can’t get the email that is no problem. You simply waity until you hear the November and December 2NLs are going out and then check the ESC page to see if you got scheduled.
September 18, 2015 at 17:28
Hi Sir, my CN is EA00048 BUT AM having some passport problems which will be resolve in mid October 2015. If I fill in ds-260 by mid October 2014 will it effect my case

September 22, 2015 at 15:43

September 22, 2015 at 16:11

Hi Britsimon
Can you tell me when I will get 2 NL, if first time I submitted DS260 on 5 June, after I unblocked my ds 260 on 01 September and again submitted 05 September. Coz I mistake my given name with first name, first name with given name, that is why KCC unblocked my form
Thanks a lot for your reply and great job!
September 23, 2015 at 21:17
I don’t know whether the changes you made will require reprocessing. In a few days 2NLs will go out for November interviews. You may be in that batch.
September 23, 2015 at 17:28
My case number is EUxxx4050
September 23, 2015 at 21:38
Thanks a lot Simon for your reply, I will wait my 2 NL, I hope that interview will be in November, when I recive 2 NL ,I’ll inform!

September 30, 2015 at 15:17
Good luck!
September 24, 2015 at 13:34
Hey Brit,
My case number is 2016SA000014XX. I sent my form DS260 May 15 to ask my interview in my home country, Venezuela. I know my case number is a little high but I wanted to know if I’ve submitted my form as soon help me and if he thinks that is likely to go to the interview, and I saw previous years and can not guide me in because in a numbers sometimes grab more and sometimes less. I’d love your help
September 24, 2015 at 14:58
This was my answer to you in the immigration.com forum.
The speed of submitting your DS260 has no impact on a high case number case – you cannot be interviewed before your case is current.
Your case number is a bit high, with some risk – but we don’t have an accurate understanding of the highest case numbers per region yet, so it is too soon to have a good idea – and in any case – all we can do is estimate/predict. SO – you have to wait and see what happens. I suspect you will be waiting to find out until as late as July 2016 – so prepare yourself for a long wait.
September 25, 2015 at 18:03
Hi Simon,
Im really concerned because my son turned 21 years old in August this year, he was 20 by the time I submitted the DS260, (May 15th by the way) I’ve read that there is like a time frame for those cases and are still allowed to get an interview, like 300 days or something. Is that true? Im also waiting for the 2NL my case # is SA2016000006xx,Could i get an interview in November?
Thanks beforehand, keep your magnificent work on this blog!!!
Regards.

He will be protected under the child status protection act (CSPA). You will need to arm yourself because a CO might not understand that – you might need to argue. He is protected for 216 days past his 21st birthday – all explained here:-
