People have started receiving their 2NLs for October 2017 interviews – meaning the first DV2018 interviews. This will take a few hours – and possibly even a couple of days before all have gone out.
The email itself has no useful information. It simply tells you to check the ESC site for the interview details. Some people that receive the email will find the ESC site is not ready, those people should try again after a few hours. Also, some people find the email itself goes to a trash or spam folder or somehow miss it. So – if you think you may have been scheduled but missed your email, you can check the ESC site, just in case. The 1NL (you have been selected letter) is replaced by a new letter which gives the appointment details.
For those that received their interview notice, now is the time to start preparing for the interview. Gathering documents, scheduling the medical and so on. To learn how to prepare please view my guide on preparing for the interview.
August 14, 2017 at 18:58
thanks Simon.
Some selectees from Yemen chose Malaysia to be place of interview. But in 2nl letter, KCC put Djibouti instead. why that happened?
August 14, 2017 at 19:14
I don’t know. You need to check whether you can travel to Djibouti, if you cannot – then you will need to rearrange it.
August 14, 2017 at 19:40
you are great. thanks

Hello,
CN 3800 DS-260 Sent on 11/05 2NL not recieved yet, while CN lower then mine but their DS260 sent until mid-juin they recieved 2NL, is it normal!
August 14, 2017 at 20:10
Always quote your year/region.
August 14, 2017 at 20:11
Oops Sorry, 2018AF3800 From Morocco
August 14, 2017 at 20:14
OK – so it is slightly unusual, but not unheard of. Some DS260s take longer to process – that often happens with residency of some countries, but can delays can also be by certain studies/professions, and even a random “match” on the name to the no fly list. There is no need to worry – just wait.
August 14, 2017 at 20:21
Thank you for your quick response, another question please, Does KCC send 2NL by pool of Case Numbers, because from what i understood, in my country only some folks with CN lower than 1900 recieved their 2NL today!
Should i expect 2NL for the upcoming days? Or maybe until Next months.
All the best
August 14, 2017 at 20:37
Like the article says – you either have yours in this “batch” or it will be a later month.
August 15, 2017 at 13:01
Hello Dear,
Do u suggest to e-mail KCC to check if i will recieve 2NL for october since my CN is current?!
Thanks in advance
August 15, 2017 at 13:29
No – I recommend patience.
August 15, 2017 at 10:33
Hello ASYY
I’m also from morocco, although my CN wont be up any soon…
I saw you have an idea about the situation here, can you direct me to where I can find moroccans sharing experiences and case situations related to Morocco/casablanca consulate?
Thanks a lot, and best luck for you in the upcoming days
August 15, 2017 at 10:39
Here’s my fb https://www.facebook.com/y.dkhissene you msg me
August 15, 2017 at 10:48
Great thx !
August 17, 2017 at 20:11
Good evening dear,
I’m sorry i couldn’t be more patient, i contacted them yesterday, and they replied with:
“Your forms have been received and pending further embassy review for the continuation of your visa processing. Interviews are scheduled numerically based on case numbers that have completed processing.”
Which it means that my DS260 forms have completed processing and they foward it to the embassy.
I read your article here: https://britsimonsays.com/communicating-kcc/
Do you think that next batch would be sooner this month or until september.
All the best.
August 17, 2017 at 21:10
Patience.
August 14, 2017 at 20:26

August 14, 2017 at 21:02
Hi,
Thanks for every informacion that you put on your blog.
I’m searching informacion on your blog for my situation but not finding.
My situation is: I’m form Europe with CN306** and after the answer i’m married and in 31 July submit the DS260 but here i write my living address and my supouse their living address (we submit the DS260 seven days after the marriage and have no opportunity to live together).
Some people says me that situation (that we live in different address) is a problem and some others says there is no problem.
What do you think and what do you suggest me to do?
Thanks from Europe
August 14, 2017 at 21:24
It is a risk. It gives the impression you only married to get the additional Green Card. So – yes – it will add to the suspicion.
August 14, 2017 at 21:52
Thanks. And what do you suggest me to do?
have 3 years relationship and have some proves like photo, messages ect..
August 14, 2017 at 21:56
You should take such proof to the interview.
August 14, 2017 at 22:02
Do you recomand to reopen the DS and write the new address (the address when do we live together before the intervist date)?
August 14, 2017 at 22:56
Yes
August 15, 2017 at 08:47
Arti where are you from friend? the name seems that you are from Albania or RKS
August 14, 2017 at 21:49
Hi Brit,
I am DV 2018 winner and I have long submitted my DS260. I included both my tertiary and high school qualification but I have lost my tertiary certificate. Can this affect my chances at the interview even though i have my transcript and testimonials ?
August 14, 2017 at 21:58
Yes it can cause a problem – and you might need that in the USA. Get a replacement certificate.
August 15, 2017 at 06:24
I contacted my school and they said they don’t give replacement certificate. I have my Attestation, Testimonial and Transcript from the school, will this help or without the original certificate there is still a problem for me?
August 15, 2017 at 06:32
It i up to the CO. I can’t predict their decision.
August 15, 2017 at 01:24
Hi Brit
I’m from the south American region.
I saw that the number of dv 2018 winners were increased in the region.
My question is this….based on your knowledge of past years, do you expect the case numbers being called for interview to be increased?
For persons like myself who have case numbers in the 2200s will this mean there is a chance to be called?
August 15, 2017 at 02:17
I expect some increase – but possibly not enough to get your number to be current. All you can do is “wait and see”.
August 15, 2017 at 03:45
Has anyone from Cameroon received 2NL for October interview already? Please let me know.
August 15, 2017 at 12:10

Hi simon
I’m from ethiopia and
my case number is 2018AF93XX. Please tell me i have a chance to be interview on november or later.actually i submit my ds260 after 2 week.
August 15, 2017 at 15:40
You will get your chance – probably later than November.
August 15, 2017 at 09:28
Hello, i have not received 2nd notification letter. Am from Cameroon. Case number is Af5xxx
August 15, 2017 at 10:12
Hello Brit
I just received my 2NL this morning from Ethiopia. I have been appointed on October 02,2017 8:00 AM for interview.
One thing I want to be clear about AoS, as far as I gathered information from those being interviewed in ADDIS ABABA , ETHIOPIA no one has been asked for AoS. Is the AoS not requested by all embassy?
Thanks
August 15, 2017 at 14:21
Some embassies rely more on your relationship with a host. Having an I-134 avoids delay if they do ask for that.
August 15, 2017 at 20:01
Brit, I just e-mailed the embassy in Addis Ababa Ethiopia about the AoS and they replied me this:
Please be aware that Affidavit Of Support(I-134) is not required for DV applicants. More information is available on https://travel.state.gov/content/visas/en/immigrate/diversity-visa/interview/prepare-for-the-interview.html
Sincerely,
Immigrant Visa Unit | U.S. Embassy Addis Ababa
[email protected]|http://ethiopia.usembassy.gov
Thanks for your advice
August 15, 2017 at 21:23
Be a little wary of what they say. Saying it is not “required” doesn’t mean it is never requested.
August 16, 2017 at 13:47
Hi moa, Am also from ethiopian dv 2018 winner (80xx)and eagerly waiting for 2NL after i submitted my ds 260 in may. My question is what is ur case no and when did u submit ds260 if really had 2NL for october interview?

August 15, 2017 at 21:24
If you haven’t had a 2NL you might not be appointed for October and would therefore get an interview in a following month. To be sure you haven’t just missed the email – check your ESC page – http://dvlottery.travel.gov/esc
August 17, 2017 at 08:12

August 15, 2017 at 10:45
HI BRIT
For how long will it take KCC to send 2nls and what are the chances of case no AF46** getting an interview this october if ds 260 was submitted in mid june
TOO
August 15, 2017 at 14:19
Read the article.
August 15, 2017 at 11:02
Hi!
It seems higher case numbers that are current in the African region are not receiving 2NLs for October interview yet. I submitted DS260 on June 05 2017, and my case number is 2018AF60** . i have not received 2NL yet.
August 15, 2017 at 14:16
It may be that DS260 processing for AF region seems to be slower. Due in part by the unsophisticated IT systems in some African countries, low standards of documentation, high levels of fraud, and various conflicts that have happened in the region.
August 16, 2017 at 16:52
Hello brit. I have a similar problem . Af53**.been trying to submit the ESC site info but they keep telling me there is a problem. What could be wrong ?
August 16, 2017 at 22:08
You are probably using your case number when you should be using your confirmation number.
August 15, 2017 at 11:54
Hello Brit. Am from Cameroon and I have not received 2nd notification letter. My case number is AF57xx
August 15, 2017 at 13:41
So maybe your DS260 isn’t ready – patience.
August 15, 2017 at 13:47
Hi Brise!
When did u submit your DS260 form?
August 15, 2017 at 12:03
Hi Brit!!
I am 2018 selectee from Nepal.
Could you please suggest what could be the cut-off number for Nepal in September Visa Bulletin?
August 15, 2017 at 13:40
I don’t have a prediction.
August 16, 2017 at 11:19
You mean it is still too early to talk about next visa bulletin?
August 16, 2017 at 15:01
I mean what I said.
August 15, 2017 at 14:15
Hi Bez. I submitted on the 16 may 2017. Am in buea.
August 15, 2017 at 19:14

My case number is so high,i am so worried?
please give me ur opinion!
August 15, 2017 at 19:44
I don’t know where the final cutoffs will fall – and I don’t have a prediction. Wait and see.
August 15, 2017 at 19:22
Hello brit I’m liban from Somalia I submitted ds260 on June 4th and did not receive my 2nls my case number is above 40xxxx af
August 15, 2017 at 19:43
If your number is above 40,000 you will not hear anything for months yet.
August 15, 2017 at 19:59
Why make me understand please
August 15, 2017 at 20:08
What do mean you will not hear any thing please make me understand Mr brit
August 15, 2017 at 21:26
You won’t get an interview for months – and because of that there will be no emails or updates sent to you. You just have to wait.
August 15, 2017 at 21:39
Good evening Dear,
Despite of the fact that many people with low case numbers didn’t recieve their 2NL for Oct Interviews, do you think that we will be able to recieve it next days, does this ever happen to someone via your experience?!
Thanks a lot, sorry if a kept disturbing, i’m worried about my case.
August 15, 2017 at 22:00
No – that would not normally happen – wait and see.
August 15, 2017 at 22:54
Hi brit, am from ghana and my case number is AFI42****. Is it likely to be interviewed before next year January.
August 15, 2017 at 23:10

August 16, 2017 at 00:23
Hi,my case is AF34982 can i be interviewed in November for DV 2018 ?
Do any of selected people who have a higher case number ,have been notified to take the interview ?
Thank you All .

No. Your number won’t be ready for interview until summer 2018.
August 16, 2017 at 01:16
Hi Brit, my case number is OC5**. Is it likely to be interviewed in November or December?
August 16, 2017 at 01:41
Wait and see.
August 16, 2017 at 03:05
Hello Brit,
As per the Visa Bulletin, do you consider AS40** (Nepal) to be a risky case number?
Thanks in Advance
August 16, 2017 at 04:21
https://britsimonsays.com/dv2018-selectee-numbers-published/
August 16, 2017 at 03:53
Can anyone tell that you got your 2NL despite of photographs being repeated from past year?
I am worried coz I have that problem and waiting for 2NL.
Congrats everyone who got 2NL.
August 16, 2017 at 04:20
People that re-used their DV2017 photo WILL get their 2NLs. That is certain. What happens at the interview – well that is what we don’t know yet.
August 16, 2017 at 05:15
I have reuses the photo from DV 2016, ( DV2017 i did not apply somehow). Do you think this will have any impact while on the interview for DV 2018. AS4*** interview schedule to be in Sydney.
August 16, 2017 at 06:19
Probably not
August 17, 2017 at 02:27
Thanks Brit
August 16, 2017 at 14:30
Oh!!
Thank you Brit for the information
I really appreciate your readiness for help.
August 16, 2017 at 08:13
Hi Sam. My husband and I have the same problem…could you post here what happened with your case once you go to the interview? If your case number precedes ours, that is…we are EU17xxx. We would really appreciate it, thank you very much.
August 16, 2017 at 05:30
Hi Brit,
My CN is AF77**. I am still waiting for 2NL. Since it is likely i get interviewed in october (even if it could be november as well), i have checked the ESC site since yesterday noon with no success. It asks for a 16 digits CN while the one on my 1NL has 15. I even added a zero to match the site requirements but nothing changed.
Any recommandation please?
Thanks in advance.
August 16, 2017 at 06:18
Use your original CONFIRMATION number – NOT the case number.
August 16, 2017 at 14:08
oohh my bad. Did not pay attention AT ALL on confirmation and went directly for case number. Still 1NL when i access ESC Site. We are the 16 today, i think my DS260 is still being processed. i hope i will receive it next month for November. Thanks again for your support Brit, it’s just HUGE, i won’t say it enough. 🙂
August 16, 2017 at 09:39
Do any of selected people who have a higher case number for DV 2018 ,have been notified to take the interview ?
August 16, 2017 at 14:11
Hi Jane, i am still waiting, CN AF77**, even if my number is below last visa bulletin, as my chargeability Country is in Africa, it takes more time to process DS260. Which region are you?
August 16, 2017 at 15:05
NO ONE with a number above the VB numbers released can be interviewed.
August 16, 2017 at 11:07
Hi Simon, trust you are well. By your experience and knowledge of others, can you please tell me ( an estimation) of how long it takes the Embassy to process the visa when one is successful at an interview session. Thanks.
August 16, 2017 at 15:01
1 to 2 weeks.
August 16, 2017 at 12:37
Hi Brit,
My case number is 2018AF62xx and Submitted DS260 on 12 May.
My case number is within VB, but I haven’t received 2NLs yet.
My simple question is :
> If I haven’t yet received 2NLs. It will not be October or is still there a chance to be interviewed in October?
Thanks.
August 16, 2017 at 14:57
A later month.
August 16, 2017 at 13:16
Dear Brit
I came across the following box ‘ DS-260 Number ‘ when registering for courier service. Is it the same with Confirmation Number?
Regards
August 16, 2017 at 14:57
It is a number on the final confirmation page of your DS260
August 16, 2017 at 14:39
Hi BritSimon
My interview has been scheduled in the US Embassy in Kartoum Sudan in 04/10/2017, and I residence in Riyadh KSA.
Do you recommend to reschedule it in the US Embassy in Riyadh KAS, or go ahead and go to Khartoum to the interview?
Thanks in advance
August 16, 2017 at 14:45
I want to inform that I enter my residence address in DS 260 as Riyadh KAS
August 16, 2017 at 14:52
Rescheduling is hard and somewhat risky. If you can attend the interview in Sudan, that would be safer.
August 16, 2017 at 15:43
Thnks … In any way if there any paper missed or some thing happens and my case be in administration process. Do I need to come back to the US Embassy Khartoum Sudan again
August 16, 2017 at 22:11
Yes, possibly. But then you will prepare well and take everything you need – right???
August 16, 2017 at 15:44
Thanks
August 16, 2017 at 18:01
Hello Mon St I’m also from Sudan residence in ksa pls contact me at [email protected] badr osman
August 16, 2017 at 16:16
I Brit base on your response to my question yesterday on why the embassy replied when inquire about my case, that my case is pending embassy review. You reply that it means my case is ready for interview. I thought i should expect 2nl for october but not yet. should I still expect for october or later month? my case is AF30XX
August 16, 2017 at 22:10
You are ready for interview now – but the question is whether you were ready for interview a couple of weeks ago. So – your interview will probably be in a later month – but wait and see.
August 17, 2017 at 14:44
THIS IS REALLY WAIT AND SEE. BECAUSE I WONDER IF KCC SAY MY CASE IS DONE PROCESSING AND PENDING EMBASSY REVIEW WHY I SHOULD NOT RECEIVE 2NL TO BE INTERVIEWED IN OCTOBER SINCE MY CASE IS FOR 2018 AND AM IN FREETOWN SIERRA LEONE. ALL THE SAME THANKS FOR YOUR RESPONSE.
August 17, 2017 at 14:40
THIS IS REALLY WAIT AND SEE PROCESS. BECAUSE I WONDER IF MY CASE HAS DONE PROCESSING WHY TILL NOW I SHOULD RECEIVE 2NL TO BE INTERVIEWED IN OCTOBER SINCE MY CASE IS IN 2018 AND AM IN SIERRA LEONE. ALL THE SAME THANX FOR YOUR RESPONSE.
August 16, 2017 at 19:40
Brit! Why some case number which are crurent in VB have not receved thèir 2nl is this normal?or they should still have hôpes for october interview..bécause in dont see the reason why they decided to publish all those cases while they are not done working on them.
August 16, 2017 at 21:50
Yes it is normal. Some cases and DS260s take longer to process.
August 16, 2017 at 21:04
hello mr brit thanks for helping us my question is when the cases above 40 like my case will receive their 2nls as your experience
August 16, 2017 at 21:47
https://britsimonsays.com/dv2018-basic-questions
August 17, 2017 at 00:12
Hi brit alot of thanks for your efforts ,can l guess that africa next cutoff will be 20500
August 17, 2017 at 00:29
You can guess whatever you want!
August 17, 2017 at 07:04
LoL……that is by definition ….I mean ur opinion in that mentioned figure?
August 17, 2017 at 08:18
I don’t have an opinion or prediction.
August 17, 2017 at 20:36
dealing with all of us must have given you great sarcasm :))
August 17, 2017 at 21:08
That was already a skill I had…
August 17, 2017 at 01:12
Hi Brit, I applied for dv2017 and on the form, I indicated that I was married because I had plans of getting married to my fiance soon. I wasn’t selected and I didn’t get married either. I applied again for the dv2018 but this time indicating that I am single because I had giving up on settling down with him. Luckily for me, I won. Do you think they will get to know that I once indicated that I was married in the dv2017 when I go for my interview and what could be the consequences?
August 17, 2017 at 01:49
They will know – whether that will cause problems or not – I don’t know.
August 17, 2017 at 03:03
Thanks for the response brit. But any advise on what to say in case am asked about it?
August 17, 2017 at 03:59
The truth.
August 17, 2017 at 05:52
Hello Brit,
I got 2NL and date of interview. Thanks for your support and guidance.
I did not understand following lines while preparing the documents for interview. If you give me it will be very helpful for me.
1. Create a profile at http://ustravelsdocs.com/np
All immigrant visa applicants must create a profile at http://www.ustraveldocs.com/np.
This will enable applicants to further process their case for inquiries, document submission, and
visa collection. If you do not create a profile, or if your profile is incomplete or inaccurate, you
may face difficulties and unnecessary delays.
(Can you give me guidelines on this topic so that I can do without mistake)
2. Affidavit of Support/Tax Returns:
The Affidavit of Support (form I-864) (AOS) is required for all immediate relatives. The sponsor
has to meet the minimum income requirements (at 100% or 125%) of the poverty guidelines. If
the petitioner cannot meet the income requirements independently, a joint sponsor may submit an
additional an AOS.
Visa applicants should check with their sponsor(s) to confirm whether they have already
submitted an Affidavit of Support with a copy for each derivative to the National Visa Center. If
so, it is not necessary to submit another one. If not, bring one of the following forms with a copy
for each derivative family member:
3. I am travelling alone no derivatives what type of AOS I should need. I don’t have any relatives and friends in America. Please make me clear about sponsor things.
August 17, 2017 at 06:03
1. Just follow the instructions.
2. For DV cases the I-864 is not used. Some embassies ask for the I-134.

August 17, 2017 at 06:21
thank you for your quick response

Hello sir,
Sorry ,this is my query not the above one.
In ds260 everything is correct except in degree or diploma I wrote WBHSE in full form but my board name is WBCHSE, C for council…. and I missed council.
Is this sufficient for my visa denial?
Tensioned n interview is on 1st week of Sept…
Thanking you…
August 17, 2017 at 08:21
That won’t cause denial.

You don’t need the email 2NL. Just check your ESC page. If the 2NL isn’t there, it will be in a later month.

Some cases take longer to process the DS260 than others. Patience.

Dear Brit,
CN: 2018AF16000, from Algeria.
I have completed my high school diploma in 2009 and my master degree in 2014 in Algeria. I have answered the question (Number of Educational Institutions Attended: “2”).
Currently I am doing another master in the UK and I have answered the question (Primary Occupation: “Student”).
My question is: Should I answer the question “Number of Educational Institutions Attended” with 2 or 3 ??
August 17, 2017 at 19:14
2. Your 3rd is your CURRENT occupation.

Should not we include all schools starting from Age 12?

That is best.

Hi Simon, TY for your amazing website and taking the time to create and respond to people. I won the DV lottery this year in May 2017 (I entered Nov 2016). I have not yet submitted my 260 form. I delayed my application but now I have decided I would like to apply. I live in London (obtained British citizenship in 2013) but was born and raised in New Zealand. Is it too late for me to get through and get a Green Card – will I simply be too late in the queue? It seems a very complicated timing system. Thank you for any help and advice. Sarah

It’s not too late to submit your DS260 – not at all. The question is – what is your case number range (like 2018OC12XX for example).
August 17, 2017 at 23:51
Hey! I just have been reading and re-reading your website. I think I finally understand what it is all saying. Unfortunately that isn’t good for me 🙂 I am 2018OC000017XX …. my heard sank!!! I can’t believe it … all this hope and now it looks like OC is totally oversubscribed 🙁 …. do you think it is worth applying still (you think it is safe only under 1300) – I don’t know why they do this. Am a little disheartened. I’ve realised I probably won’t get interviewed now!!! 🙁 Thank you for your prompt answers. Sarah
August 18, 2017 at 00:08
Yes – you are certainly at risk. It’s not impossible for you to get current – but it would take something very dramatic (such as widespread denials from re-used DV2017 photos). Because of your number, there is no reason to rush to submit your DS260. You could wait until May and see how things are going – because it is certain that you could not get current before the last couple of months of the process – if at all.

*heart sank not heard! 😉
August 17, 2017 at 23:59
ps – why do you do this!! thank you. you saved me a lot of money and I am so glad I did not pay an expensive lawyer especially now that I am 2018OC000017XX … my heart is breaking!!!
August 18, 2017 at 00:10
I do it because I was in your shows not so long ago. There wasn’t much understanding about the process at that time, and I have managed to almost completely understand the process – so I’m just paying that forward.

Sir, does the unusually low october cutoff number for Ethiopia necessarily suggest more winning case numbers below the cutoff number (2100) from the country, especially in light of the increase in the number of entrants?
August 18, 2017 at 09:35
I’m a bit concerned that my CN is higher!
August 18, 2017 at 11:23
Hello ,Nao im also from ethiopia adv2018 winner, the exceptional article for ethiopia regarding vb is not clear for me too, for more information my email [email protected] keep in touch …
August 18, 2017 at 14:33
Ethiopia has a high concentration of winners in the lower numbers.

God bless you! So thankful.
