2NLs are starting to be sent for September interviews (DV2019). Please note – I am saying STARTING to be sent, some 2NLs will be sent right up until the end of the month.
This relates to DV2019, and does not concern DV2020 in any way.
Please also understand that 2NLs are only sent to cases which are current, had submitted their DS260 so that processing has been completed on that AND they have sent their documents some time ago. If someone only sent their documents in the last week or two, that was probably not in enough time to get on the list to be scheduled this month. Given that this is the final month we have to wait and see whether many cases will have been unable to be scheduled.
Some people previously got 2NL emails but then had to wait days or even a couple of weeks before the interview letter showed on the ESC page. Other people waited until the beginning of the following month to get their 2NLs and ESC page update. So – be patient, stay calm. Some physicians won’t schedule the medicals unless you have the 2NL in hand, BUT there is plenty of time before these interviews, no need to stress out!
VERY IMPORTANT. 2NLs will be sent during the remainder of the month. If you do not get yours today – no need to freak out, just wait. There is no need to ask me or anyone elseabout specific regions or countries, assume any country or region could have 2NLs as late as the last day of the month (last day in the USA, not where you live).
Also, you will not get the 2NL if you have not submitted your DS260 AND your documents to KCC AND your case number is not current (lower than the VB number for your region). If ANY of those three things are not true you will not get the 2NL, and there is no need to ask me about that – it should be clear (especially as I have repeated this information many times before and a couple of times in this article).
The email itself has no useful information. It simply tells you to check the ESC site for the interview details. Some people that receive the email will find the ESC site is not ready, those people should try again after a few hours. Also, some people find the email itself goes to a trash or spam folder or somehow miss it. So – if you think you may have been scheduled but missed your email, you can check the ESC site, just in case. The 1NL (you have been selected letter) is replaced by a new letter which gives the appointment details. You log in to the ESC page with your original confirmation code (from when you entered the lottery.
If you want to know more about the 2NL – you can watch this video

July 23, 2019 at 03:03
This is becoming a little worrisome for some of us who KCC requested our documents a little late, mine was requested June 17th and ready for scheduling email received on the 27 of June. I’m praying that the Almighty God take me through.
Brit, KCC delay in sending the documents request email to certain cases and always said your documents were not in their system when you trying sending it without receiving their request email. This became so embarrassing to lot of us. I send documents April 30th, may 16, may 25, June 4, and June 10. But everytime I called KCC I was told no documents found until June 17, when their documents request email came. We will wait and see what will happened. God is in control. Thanks always
July 24, 2019 at 22:42
At the end ur docs is ready now so dont complain plz

Hello Mr Brits , Hello Mr Brits ,
You have done it for us oooooooooooooooh.
Thank you very very very very much Sir . Your did it for us Sir . We received our visas two days (Sunday)ago from Emirates post UAE after giving a temporal refusal to get police certificates from our home country.
We did that and our passports were collected stamped and returned to us by post . Sir ,thank you very much .
Please , those reading this post kindly go through Britsimon post read within the lines because there is no time again and arrange any little document require example there is a form concerning Social media do not neglect it , there might not be an opportunity for temporal refusal for some of you now.
Advice you to follow Britsmonsays .com , he is the BEST. Thank you once more Sir .
July 23, 2019 at 19:52
Congratulations!
July 23, 2019 at 07:26
Hi Mr Brit,
Kindly advice me on what to do.
We have received the Visas , thanks again.
We want to arrange it in a way that as we enter America my husband has to be with me and the kids just for three weeks , come back here in UAE for work for sometime before finally joining us in the states.
If he is leaving out of state back to uae ?? without the green card with him and he plans to be visiting us every two or three months in the United States.
Sir , kindly advise me on what is require of him to have free entry in America and of America without complications . Hope he can not be denied too not to enter America after keeping us there.
Sir thanks for understanding and waiting for your kind reply in advance .
Best regards,
Emel
July 23, 2019 at 10:07
The entry stamp (if he won’t be having the physical GC at the time) would serve as a GC for multiple entries for 1 year. I also don’t see any issues in him leaving and re-entering every few months during the 1 year after activation since the Immigration Officer and the authorities do expect new immigrants to go back to their country to wrap things up before moving to USA permanently. So in short, I don’t see a problem there.
July 24, 2019 at 05:24
Hi Mr Brit ,
Thank you for your kind replied .
Please ,can you clearly let me know whether for my husband to establish a home in USA for us to stay there and represent him as he will come in and go out before joining .
Are the below OPTIONS Possible:
To establish this home does it means he needs to buy a home or a flat immediately within his two or three weeks stay with us in USA before returning back to uae ?
Or possibly to rent an apartment in his names within his two or three weeks stay with us to stay there and represent him ?
Or is there a particular FORM Sir to fill as well before establishing that home in order not to lost his status as he will be entering to see us and going back to uae ?? for sometime before joining us .
Sir,I’m confuse , kindly guide me on the above questions let me know exactly what to do in advance .
Thank you in advance and best regards.
July 24, 2019 at 05:44
I answered this already. It’s fine. No need to overthink it. No form to fill out. Just use some common sense.
July 23, 2019 at 19:54
He will have to show that he has established a home in the USA. You and the children will represent that – so no problem.
July 23, 2019 at 07:38
Hello brit.. my parent are Nigeria but I was born in Benin republic.. can I stil play the next visa lottery.. won’t there be any problem
July 23, 2019 at 19:55
No problem. It’s based on YOUR place of birth.
July 23, 2019 at 07:42

July 23, 2019 at 11:55
Dear Brit,
i received the mail below but no 2nl as at date (CNAF46*20). so whats the way forward?
Thank you for your inquiry.
Your case number is now current for interview processing. Once the interview date has been scheduled, you will receive notification via email to check http://www.dvlottery.state.gov. If you need to make changes to your DS-260 you should contact the consular section where you will be interviewed, or bring the information about your changes to your interview appointment. Because your case is ready to be scheduled, KCC can no longer unlock your application.
In order for the Kentucky Consular Center to assist with inquiries regarding a specific Diversity Visa (DV) case, you must provide the Principal Applicant’s full name, complete case number, and date of birth in the following format (MMDDYYYY) as entered on the original entry. Please remember that the Kentucky Consular Center does not have the authority to tell you whether or not your specific case will be disqualified. Only a consular officer can do that at the time of your visa interview. Do not send any paper documents to the Kentucky Consular Center.

Sorry Brit because I think I asked this once before and I can’t find your answer. In my DS260 I said that I can provide a list of vaccines, but I can’t. My interview is scheduled for 18th of September. What should I do?
July 23, 2019 at 13:07
I just received an email from the embassy with the details of my interview and they say, if necessary, they can unlock my DS 260? Should I unlock and modify my answer?
July 23, 2019 at 20:18
No
July 23, 2019 at 14:28
You will need to do the Medical Tests which will include all the necessary vaccinations, and these medical tests will be the ones given to the U.S authorities.
July 23, 2019 at 20:17
Have the vaccinations at the medical.
July 23, 2019 at 12:51
Hello Simon,
My interview is due in middle of August, all my documents are prepared, photographs taken, medical done, savings in bank account, I-134 on the way.
As I follow your blog, couple of times you did mentioned to other people that sometimes on the interview they require some other information like the DS-5535 form. My interview is in August and I do not want to be put in AP.
1.) Is there any other documents you think can be useful? (like DS-5535), and I should take then just in case?
2.) I recently applied for new passport should I take both new and old one for the interview?
3.) Any other advices?
Many Thanks
Lukasz
July 23, 2019 at 14:30
Hi Lukasz,
I had my interview 20 days ago and went overprepared. I would suggest you definitely fill the DS5535 and take it with you, and also take both the old and new passports. So the answers to your questions would be the following:
1) Fill the DS5535 and take it with you
2) yes take both passports with you
July 25, 2019 at 12:39
Hi Tarek,
Thanks for the advice.
I am just trying to check if there are any other forms or documents that I can possibly prepare just in case like the DS-5535 form
Did you had any beside the usual documents like school certificates ect. ?
Maybe some of other documents or forms that Simon did recomended but I overlooked I only mean an unusual ones like DS-5535 form.
I understand that your visa was approved, well done.
Thanks for all
July 23, 2019 at 20:18
1. DS5535 might be useful. As for anything else – use your own judgement.
2. Yes
3. No
July 23, 2019 at 20:45
Sorry for the ignorance but what is DS-5535? I’ve never seen it mentioned in your articles or anywhere

Will you have your interview in Warsaw, Poland? If yes, I had mine in the beginning of July, and it was a very pleasant experience. The whole thing took about 1,5h, and the actual interview was literally 5 minutes (if not less). I was the first person in line for interviews that days though. At first, one of the Polish employees aksed me for documents (she basically prepared everything for the consular officer). She asked for my birth certificate, diploma, photos (etc.) and asked whether I have a job offer to which I said no. She then asked whether I have documents regarding finances. I had a bank account statement, so she said she will mark that I have other proof. I wanted to give it to her, but she said I will show it to consular officer if they ask. I might add that I said in my application that I will be staying with a friend. Then she asked me to go pay the fee, and then come back and wait to be called again. When she called me again, I gave her the receipt, she took my fingerprints, and then told me to sit down and wait to be called by the consular officer. It took some time, before I was called, but probably 15 minutes. During the interview I was asked about my education, how I know my friend, where I will be staying and the rest was just a pleasant conversation. She then apologized that I had to wait. I had DS-5535 with me just in case (because like you, I didn’t wanted to be put on AP), but was never asked for it. My advice would be to relax, and know that nothing unpleasant will meet you there – everyone is very helpfull, and they explain everything if you have any questions. Make sure you registered with TNT to have your passport sent back to you. Oh, and before you enter the embassy they will want to see the TNT registration document (I also had the 2NL with me), so make sure you have those two on top of other documents (just to make sure you don’t have to search for it, and that the wind won’t blow other documents) 🙂 It may all take time if there will be people before you, so patience might be required, but then, you have already experience with that waiting for the interview 🙂 Nothing to stress about if you have all the required documents. Of course, each interview is different, but remember that it’s not Polish “urząd” where you always feel like presonan non grata 😉
July 25, 2019 at 12:36
Hi Ewa,
My interview is in London, England as I live in UK from years now.
Thanks for the advice about the passport confirmation I will print it out today.
I am just trying to check if there are any other forms or documents that I can possibly prepare just in case.
Did you had any beside the usual documents like school certificates ect. ?
I assume you visa was approved which is good.
3 weeks left till my interview so I am very excited.
Thanks for your advice
July 26, 2019 at 06:16
Nope, no additional documents. The embassy in Warsaw has a list of documents they want, and didn’t ask for anyy additional ones. Yes, my visa was approved. Good luck with your interview 🙂
July 26, 2019 at 06:22
Alos, in case you have never been at the US Embassy in London there is a video on YouTube ” “A walk through visa appointments at our new embassy” prepared by the embassy. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n8izBqdcJ4w) I did watch the one prepared by the warsaw embassy to know where to go 🙂

Following Saturday’s request for information here is what I received as response from the KCC on Monday at 17h Morocco
I hope to have my 2NL very soon … Thank you brit for the support!
Thank you for your request.
Your file number is now up to date for interview processing. Once the date of the interview is scheduled, you will receive an e-mail notification to verify http://www.dvlottery.state.gov. If you need to make changes to your DS-260, you should contact the Consular Section where you will be interviewed or provide information about your changes to your appointment. Because your case is ready to be programmed, KCC can no longer unlock your app.
July 23, 2019 at 18:50
I’m a DV2020 winner, my case number is among the highest I’ve seen in AS region (btw, from your experience, how much do the maximum numbers reported here correspond with the real numbers?).
At first, when I saw only 83,800 were selected this year I rejoiced, as it’s almost certain that my region would become current. But reading your articles about the late 2NLs and seeing people’s comments here I got really scared. The reason is, that if I make it next year, it will almost certainly be in September. I see the mess going on with KCC, requesting documents in the last minute and delayed processing them and it looks like many people are going to miss out just because it took forever for KCC to proceed with their cases. Problem is – I know that next year I’m gonna be in those people’s place. From what I see, until now only about 30,000 visas were issued and it’s NOTHING, and yet KCC is still not able to schedule for everyone even though all regions are current for some time now.
What do you think? Am I wrong somehow?
Thanks
July 23, 2019 at 21:22
Hopefully the chaos will be improved by then.
July 24, 2019 at 03:41
Do you think it will?
And from your experience, how much do the maximum numbers reported here correspond with the real numbers?
July 24, 2019 at 05:52
1. Possibly.
2. Usually pretty close.
July 23, 2019 at 19:13

Hi Brit,
I’m with DV 2020 winner. I have completed my degree in Dec 2016. On degree certificate completion date of degree is 25th of February 2017.
When I was applied DV Lottery in Oct 2016(DV2018), I was in final year in the university. But I have mentioned as my highest qualification is a degree on my entry.
Does that mistake is effected for my DV2020?
Hope you’ll reply to my question
Thanks for the advices.
July 24, 2019 at 15:05
Shouldn’t be a problem.
July 25, 2019 at 08:02
Oh my God……..
Do they consider the previous entry details ?
It means no chance to continue my process due to above reason?
Thanks

Hello Brit. I watched your video on ds260 and please I have some inquiries. Pardon me if it will be long. So it goes thus, i filled my ds260 on august 1st 2018 and i edited on June 2019. While filling the form, on the educational information, the question there was “Have you attended any educational institution at a secondary OR above? I answered yes and on the number of Educational institution attended I answered 1 immediately I put University Degree as the highest level of Educated completed. I didn’t mention any secondary school or high school where i obtained my advance level. Reason being that on the HELP side it says ” you must answer yes yo this question if you have ever…. High school OR university.” So the reason i put 1 was because i thought we were to fill depending on the highest level of education completed. So Brit my question is
1. Can it Cause denial at interview since I did not provide information about where i completed high school??
2. What do you advice me to do on this case please??
3. Should I just present the high school diploma at interview or ask the embassy to open so i can correct??
Will I be put on AP???
Once again sorry if it is lengthly. Hoping to hear from you soon.

Hello Chop Jeff, since I had the same situation like you, I would like to help you with my answer (experience)
I did the same when filling DS260, I just wrote my highest degree and I didn’t mention high school.
1. I do not think so, but since you’re in African region, i can not be certain, just make sure you take all your proof that you completed high school and diploma with you at the interview.
2. I will assume you are already scheduled for the interview, so there is nothing you can do, as I said, take all the proof with you at the interview.
3. Present ALL the diplomas and everything you have which is related to education.
4. It is Africa, it is possible, but the risk may be low (if any). -I am from EU region.
All the best.

Thank you @MNE.
July 24, 2019 at 14:51
1. Usually not.
2. Nothing you can do now as it is not possible to unlock your DS260 now.
3. Take all documents to the interview, yes.

July 24, 2019 at 15:07
Well if you had asked a few weeks ago I would have said to contact KCC but now there is no point. All you need do is wait to see if you get scheduled. The last 2NLs will go out in the next week.

Hello Simon!! My wife won a DV 2020 from Europe, but she used a picture from DV 2019. Do we need to apply DS 260? Or there is no reason?
July 24, 2019 at 18:11
I don’t know whether that will cause disqualification this year or not. Watch what happens in other cases.
July 24, 2019 at 18:40
Is there a way to see what picture I used this year and last year? I can’t remember :\
July 27, 2019 at 00:36
No – there is no way.

Your case number is now current for interview processing. Once the interview date has been scheduled, you will receive notification via email to check http://www.dvlottery.state.gov.

Dear Brit,
What is the order of interview scheduling?
In documents confirmation letter they say:
Interviews are scheduled numerically based on case numbers that have completed processing.
But I see scheduled interviews for case numbers eu30*** and mine is eu24***. I’m still waiting.
My Docs confirmed on 21 of June, maybe they order 2nls by this date?
July 27, 2019 at 01:06
I have explained this many many times. You were too late for June scheduled interviews – whereas others with higher numbers submitted documents before you. Nothing mysterious. The final interviews will be scheduled in July – again, as I have explained over and over again.
July 24, 2019 at 23:08
I am starting lose hope to get 2NL ?
July 27, 2019 at 01:09
Did July end yet? No.
July 27, 2019 at 02:13
Hi Simon,
I called the KCC today with a question and they told me all interviews have been scheduled last week. So yeah it’s over :/
I got the demand of documents just a few days earlier and was still waiting to receive one… so unfortunately I didn’t make it. She said it’s of no use to send documents or call or anything: everything in the 2019dv is finished (or at least the scheduling).
Best of luck to all!
July 27, 2019 at 04:09
It’s over for people who did not submit the DS260 or documents in time. Others WILL be getting 2NLs early next week.
July 25, 2019 at 06:46
Thanks a lot Mr.Brit ,finally I got the 2NL I would like to thankful to helping me and other members.
My case number is 2019AS11xxx and scheduled to 10th of September.

Hi brit what happend when .we dont know anybody in usa so no affidavit of support can we be approved visa ?
July 27, 2019 at 01:54
That represents a risk. Some COs will deny a case with no financial support.
July 25, 2019 at 10:55
Hi brit, is this the final 2nls.?
July 27, 2019 at 02:09
Up to the end of this month – yes.
July 25, 2019 at 11:01
I have also noticed that 2nls were been sent according to the time you submitted the ds260 .like my case,Af406xx. I was asked to send docs in febuary.receive 2nls in may.cameroon
