Index
OK this is a blog, meaning I write the articles and they appear on the website in the order in which they are written – but there are enough posts now that I thought it would be helpful to group/organize the posts – hence this index of dv lottery information.
Also this is a work in progress – I am adding posts as I think about topics, but I would be delighted to get requests/suggestions for topics that would be useful.
Please subscribe to this blog and or LIKE my facebook page to make sure you get updates as I add them.

Please I submitted my DS260 form in March 2015 when do you think I will receive my 2NL????? And also, about the education qualification for my country the requirements states that A1=Excellent C6=Credit D7=pass(WASSCE) university requirement and previously students with that(D7) gained admission to tertiary institutions not untill 2013/ 2014 academic year that the unversity requirement for all schools said A1-C6 is the actual grades for university admissions. But my year batch was 2012/2013 academic year and our batch was the last to be considerd for tertiary admission. Am now in my final year at the polytechnic and i will be completing the school this june/ july and my graduation will be this December or early next year. My question is do think this can lead to the denial of my visa??? Or I may be asked to bring my polytechnic transcript???

I’m not 100% sure on your education question as it is country specific. At the end of the day – the CO decides.

Kindly provide your predictions of cut off points for Africa after the release of may bulletin
April 14, 2015 at 17:16
I will do that again once I see the 2nl in a week or two.
April 14, 2015 at 09:35
The cutoff for africa appears to take a downward trend. What do you predict to be the final cuoff point for africa
April 14, 2015 at 17:17
Forget the downward trend that is not how it works. Final number will be over 60k

I was selected for dv lottery 2016 from nepal as cn 6726 . When will i receive my 2nl & what is the last cn of nepal? Plz
July 2, 2015 at 05:29
You will probably get your 2NL in the next few days. You case is being heard at Abu Dhabi – correct? Make sure you prepare well – and consider taking financial proof.

im being selected for this years lottery and i want to know why they are asking me to pay the processing fee within seven working days?
July 20, 2015 at 13:04

July 27, 2015 at 00:13
I am unable to get my dv results for 2015/2016, I have been trying to get the result since it was released but they kept telling me invalid. Don’t understand cos I enter info correctly. What is wrong?
July 27, 2015 at 00:43
Well millions of people checked their results, so the most likely thing is that you are doing something wrong but with the little information you have given I cannot possibly say what is wrong.

Hi simon, love your site. i’m from New Zealand and was selected for DV2016 with a very low case number (2016OC00002X). but i have a little issue with a question on the submitted DS260.
My name at birth was “lang smith” but when i was two years old my parents gave me a middle name “john” and legally changed my name to “lang john smith” on my birth certificate my name is “Lang john smith” but also contains a notation of name changed from my original name “Lang smith” in 1985.
On the DS260 i selected NO to the “have you used any other names” question. and it has only just occurred to me that i have had another name when i was two years old. it was so long ago i completely forgot that my name was changed when i was two years old.
my question is should i unlock and change this? or would it be a non-issue.
August 3, 2015 at 13:50
It won’t get you disqualified because the explanation makes it obvious why you don’t remember – and I don’t suppose you got into trouble before the name change. Up to you whether you unlock the DS260 – the ideal would be to unlock – but it isn’t a big deal if you don’t.

Hi Brit,
I am going to apply for 2017-DV lottery. I gathered all the information I need, yet I have a dilemma in regards with the education/work experience. At first I wanted to use my work experience in my application, but after I’ve seen on the O*Net database that my SVR Range is just (6.0 to < 7.0) I realized that I have to use my education. My problem here is that I don’t know what option on the application I have to choose. On top of the High School Diploma, I have a College Degree (NOT a University Degree) and on the application form they don’t have the option for College Degree. If you know, can you please tell me what the equivalent for a College Degree is on the application? What my choice should be?
Thank you in advance for your time and consideration.
God’s bless to you and all yours!!!
Best regards,
Melida

It depends on your definition of “college”. For example, a Bachelors degree is generally 3 or 4 years and is done at “college” in the USA or a “University” in the UK and many other parts of the world.
In the UK, college is attended between 16 and 18 years old and completion of college is equivalent to US High School.
So – it depends.
Now – is it important for the DV-2017 entry – NO. Whatever you choose will not matter. So – make your best guess…

Thank you very much for your help, Simon.
And… Good Luck to everyone applying!!!

Hello i am in usa now.arrived yesterday ,do i need to go to social security office and fill the form to get my social security card?if yes what document do i need?
January 21, 2016 at 18:04
You may have selected the option for USCIS to apply for the SSN for you. Many people do that and in that case you don’t normally need to doing anything – your SSN would normally arrive in 2 to 3 weeks.
However, you can also go to the SSA office after a few days if you want. You can check what is needed on the SSA website – https://www.ssa.gov/
