Hi Brit,
After the last visa bulletin, 2NL has been already sent for case around 7200-7300 in Nepal as per the groups I am in but not above that. Could there be a reason for 2NL not being sent from 7300 onwards to 8500?
April 15, 2024 at 11:06
It’s the 15th of the month. Patience.
April 15, 2024 at 10:55
Does that mean its performing badly? Or could it have mean they just have small number of winners or maybe they winners have larger case numbers that are still to come?
April 15, 2024 at 11:07
They only have 9 selectees in that country – probably 4 or 5 cases. For the year.

Hello BritSimon
As the results for the DV 2025 lottery approach, and in case we are drawn, I wanted to ask whether it would be a better idea to stay in the USA [we have a non-immigrant work visa] or to book a visa appointment abroad. I also wondered if our work visa expires before a DV interview [assuming one gets to that stage] can USCIS grant you the ability to stay while you wait for this to happen.
April 15, 2024 at 16:31
The specifics on that would really depend on your case number, home embassy and so on. It’s best to wait until you’re selected, and then evaluate which way to process your case. I processed my own case via adjustment of status – so that is an option (with pros and cons versus Consular Processing).
April 16, 2024 at 07:51
Hi Sir.
When do you think the DV lottery results are made and done, before its made to the applicants in May? Do you think everything is prepared and finished a month before, 2 weeks before, or even sooner?
Sincerely!
April 16, 2024 at 10:35
The draw is performed in December/January, then they spend some months on screening out many of the entries for various reasons.

Hello there Simon!
Do you know where I can see how many where selected for a certain year from a certain country? Do you have any stats on that here on your site? I would like to see the selection stats and how many of those selected who actually got the Green Card. I am very curious about Sweden. Also, I would of course like to see how many applied from a certain country as well. So applicants, selectees, and those that get to be the holders in the end. That is what I would like to see if possible.
Thank you!
Best regards.

April 16, 2024 at 19:08
Hi brit simon I have my interview on May 28 but I have a concern when registering for the dv lottery due to lack of concentration I made a mistake on the day of my birth I was born on May 24 but when registering I was due on the 25 May but by filling out the DS260 form I corrected the error and put the correct date which is May 24. My question is to know if this error could cause a disqualification of my application or cause me a problem on the day of the interview. Thank you
April 16, 2024 at 23:14
You have asked this before.

April 16, 2024 at 23:57
Hi Simon,
I have been getting bad sleep for a few days since I realized that the photo I uploaded for dv2025 is 10 pixels short on head size (it is 290px from chin to top of the hair). Am I disqualified already or are they flexible on this? At human sight, the picture looks good, good background, no smile and size is also correct…
April 17, 2024 at 09:53
Your chance of being selected is probably one in 100 years. So relax.
April 17, 2024 at 10:14
I know that winning DV is extremely rare, but still, am I disqualified right away for being 10 pixels short on size from chin to hair? Thanks.
April 17, 2024 at 11:11
You can read the requirements here:
https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/visa-information-resources/photos/photo-composition-template.html
I don’t know if your particular photo will fail the requirements or not.
April 17, 2024 at 03:50
Dear Brit, mine is not a question per say but actually a suggestion to help current and future winners. Please inform winners that the medical exam for the DV could take as long as 2 months if the panel physician suspects a TB. This is particularly so because of State Department Guidelines on TB Exams. By the time you get the results after two months you might not be able to obtain your visa for various reasons including the quota for your country being exhausted. This is a critical information and I suggest every winner get his medicals ready as soon as possible after getting the 2NL.
April 17, 2024 at 09:52
Well that wouldn’t be good advice for most people.
TB is only common in a few areas of the world, and in those areas the physicians should inform people. No one should book medicals before they get the 2NL, so there is a natural limit to how many weeks before the interview the medical can be scheduled.
April 17, 2024 at 05:01
Good morning Brit.
I really appreciate your dedication to help people involved in this process.
I want to ask if you have any guide on which things we have to once the DV is being approved. like pay a USCIS fee, or any other fee, prepare any specific paper work to present…
Also, if I arrive to the US, how long do i have to stay to activate my green card to be send physically to the address I gave?
Again, thank you so much!
April 17, 2024 at 09:49
You will get instructions when issued. But basically there is a fee that can be paid just before or after entering the USA. The fee being paid and your entering the USA is what causes the GC to be sent to the address in the DS260. They will do that regardless of how long you stay after the first entry.

Hello, Dear Simon. I’d like to know how can I check whether my case number is about to be scheduled or processed for an interview. Is it recommended to check it in ceac. Can I check it multiple times or what should I do? Thanks!
April 17, 2024 at 09:47
CEAC will only change when you are scheduled. So you can check multiple times, or just wait…
April 17, 2024 at 06:34
Hi Simon!
I have 2 questions which I hope you can be able to answer please!
On the Travel State Gov site, it tells us the following:
( Selected entrants are encouraged to complete the online DS-260 application immediately to schedule an interview appointment at the appropriate U.S. Embassy or Consulate. )
–
I have an ongoing appeal in the court after I got sentenced to 4 moths in prison, last year. It is dated 4th of June, I will get the whole sentence somewhere between 18th and June the 20th. Will there be a problem if I would wait till then to fill in the DS-260 form? I am asking because I don’t know yet if I will be acquitted in some of the offenses/violations, and thereof don’t know what to put in the crime section of the DS-260 form.
I live in Sweden.
Second question, do you think it would be a problem with this sentence if I would win? Everyone tells me my sentence will get reduced since it was my first crimes, I am indicted of 4 crimes, not so serious really, but still…
I’ve heard that if it is under 6 months, there is usually not a problem, but that can also depend on how long time ago it was or so?
Best regards!

Your chance of being selected in the lottery is about one in 100 years. It is pointless to worry about this until you are selected.
April 17, 2024 at 08:02
Hello, assist me please. I’m from Armeina, Yerevan
My case number is 2024EU426**
I would like to know, do I have any chance of interview this year?
Thank you,
Regards.
April 17, 2024 at 09:43
Honestly, I think your case number is too high.
April 19, 2024 at 08:39
I am disappointed 🙂 Thank you anyway.
April 17, 2024 at 09:59
Hi sir,
Asia with cas number 16019×
Any chance for interview?
April 17, 2024 at 10:04
Maybe.
April 18, 2024 at 08:33
16019* has chances, but EU426** don’t?
How?
April 18, 2024 at 08:37
Because the AS region number is (I assume) 16K (not 160K) out of 43K while 42.6K is out of 67K. Plus EU increased selectees by 25% over last year while AS increased by “only” 16%.

Hello, Dear Simon. KCC sent me this email, what does it mean, and what should I do? Thanks!
“Thank you for your inquiry.
Records indicate you have submitted a complete and valid DS-260 application for each family member to the Kentucky Consular Center. Interviews are scheduled numerically based on case numbers that have completed processing. Please refer to the visa bulletin at https://travel.state.gov to locate the current numbers being processed. This bulletin is updated after the 15th day of each month. Once an interview date has been scheduled, you will receive notification via email to check dvprogram.state.gov.”
April 17, 2024 at 11:12
It means your DS260 is processed. No need for you to do anything other than wait.
April 17, 2024 at 13:13
Hi Brit Simon
Hope you are doing well!
I’m Iranian and I’m refugee in the UK and I hold travel documents passport which issued by home office UK, been in UK around 6 years and I just travelled once to Turkey last year!
I’m Male and I’m hoping for 2025
My question?
1- Do you think US embassy will except travel document as passport ?
2-Do you think the processing DV lottery will be the same person in Iran?
April 17, 2024 at 15:07
1. Yes
2. Not sure I understand that question.
However, your chance of being selected is TINY. About 1 in every 200 years. So – no need to think about this further until you find you were selected.

Hi Brit,I am a dv lottery winner from Zambia, my interview date was 16th of April 2024 .The interview went well for me but unfortunately my beneficiary who is my husband was requested to present more documents which are:
1.Court documents associated with his deportation from USA.
2.Travel history
3.Evidence of his last departure from the U.s..
My husband overstayed his student visa in the US before but that was 13 years ago.The issue is ,he left the U.S voluntarily before his court date and no such documents where given to him .
How do we go about this situation.
We have managed to retrieve his travel history through filling I-94 .
The main issue is the court documents
April 18, 2024 at 08:29
The answer to question 1 is “no documents exist because he left voluntarily”.
April 18, 2024 at 16:58
Hi Simon, hope u doin’ good. Is there fixed time between 2nl notification sent date and interview date? And how many days? Thanks Simon.
April 18, 2024 at 19:32
Not a fixed time – it’s typically 4 to 8 weeks.
April 19, 2024 at 04:08
Hi Brit! Many immigration websites are contradictory about whether or not you should include nicknames in the ”other names ever used” section of the DS260. Some say nicknames count as other names, others say it’s only about names that ever appeared on official documents and IDs.
Based on your experience, what is your take on it ? Is it more risky to include it or to omit it ?
Thanks a lot!
April 19, 2024 at 07:15
If you have used a name in “public life” then it has become an alias, and you should list it. THat does not include nicknames that you are only called by immediate family/friends.
April 19, 2024 at 09:34
Hi Simon, My case number AS 15449, Do you think we still have a chance for interview? We transferred our case from Djibouti to Nepal. I wrote my question on your youtube live stream but no luck of answers . Thank you.
April 19, 2024 at 11:00
You still have a chance.
April 19, 2024 at 11:37

April 19, 2024 at 12:49

Hello, Mr.Simon. I received the following message from the KCC. What does it mean and what is the next message will be about, will they send other message after it, or what? Please help me to understand.
“Thank you for your inquiry.

Hi Brit, My case AF14XXX is current for interview but not yet scheduled. I just moved to Canada as an international student and I need your advice on how I can request for a transfer to Canada in my situation. Thanks and I look forward to hearing from you soon.
April 19, 2024 at 15:20
Contact KCC and explain you moved and show them proof that you moved.
April 19, 2024 at 15:24
Please any idea of how I can draft the email? For example the subject and body of email. Just a brief one please
April 19, 2024 at 16:35
Your English is fine. Use your own words.
April 19, 2024 at 16:46
Hi Brit, if my country of chargeability is an African country and I reside in a European country can I interview where I reside (in the European country) or do I have to return to Africa for the interview? I am conscious of the fact that they are two separate continents etc.
April 19, 2024 at 18:07
You generally interview where you live, regardless of where that is.
