Hi Brit

Only one thing i have one usa visit visa rejection
If we will get narvous during the interview will cause rejection because controling the feeling some time difficult
July 20, 2017 at 17:25
It is normal to be nervous – but the interviews are not to TRICK you or CATCH you – the interviews are very short and easy. So – relax, tell the truth and you’ll be fine.
July 21, 2017 at 15:50
Hello Brit
I wanna ask you-
What will happen if the sponser changes his mind just befor the interview date.
July 21, 2017 at 17:13
That is unlikely to affect the case.
July 23, 2017 at 07:23
Hi brit, please i have just two questions.
1. I bear three names. Example
Daniel(first name) Adjei(middle) Darko(Surname).i have all the names on all my certifactes. My worry is that each institution that I attended arranged it in different way. For instance, on high school certificate, it is arranged (mid-first-surname), on my diploma cert(first-mid-surname) and on my degree cert( first-surname-mid). Sir, can this cause a problem?.
2. I am a teacher by profession but in the ds 260, I selected Health as the area I want to work when I am successful with the process and go to the US. Can that also cause a problem since I didn’t choose the education field? Thanks
July 23, 2017 at 12:49
1. Possibly.
2. No
July 23, 2017 at 18:48
Dear brit, sorry to interupt this comment but didnt know how to post?, i’ve a valid visa which will expire soon but am changing my birthdate on my passport , as i had a wrong date on my old passport, will that be a problem to apply for a new visa as i already entered the states with the wrong date?
July 23, 2017 at 18:54
No – as long as you have evidence of the genuine date.
July 23, 2017 at 19:28
But am changing all my documents, even my birth certificate since that where initially the mistake happened, but the fact that i entered the states already with the wrong date, they wont consider it as fraud?
July 23, 2017 at 20:37
I already answered.
July 20, 2017 at 20:48

July 20, 2017 at 22:36
Hi Simon,
When I filled out my DS260 (sept 2016) i was residing in the US under a student visa and the first question on it was if I wanted to handle the process in the US i marked yes. In February (2017) my visa expired and I had to move back home. The Latin American region became current in May and I had been waiting for an interview notification ever since.
Since I was not receiving the email (i kept checking the webpage as well to see if my status changed) I called the KCC and they said that since I had answered that in the DS260 form they hadn’t sent me an email with the interview appointment because they thought i was still in the US and had to make my own appointment with USCIS. They said that i should write them an email explaining the situation and asking to have my case changed and ask if i could get an appointment at the embassy in my country (I did send this email).
Finally, my question is: this late in the game how likely do you think that this will happen? Them sending me an appointment for an interview at my embassy i mean.. I just sent the email today and have not heard back yet. Do you know of any other cases similar to mine?
-Carolina.
July 20, 2017 at 22:45
Hi Carolina, sorry to interrupt your question. I just wanted to ask if you applied for a VISA after winning the dv lottery ?. And was it approved? Thanks.
July 21, 2017 at 00:06
And by VISA i mean Vistor/Student visa.
July 21, 2017 at 02:32
Hi, since i won the dv lottery i have not applied for any other visas.
July 21, 2017 at 02:38
Thanks for the reply. I was just curious because i fear that people who win the dv lottery cannot get granted any other VISA.
July 21, 2017 at 04:21
That is not true.
July 20, 2017 at 23:14
Wow, you might have thrown your chance away. I have known KCC rush through a case for scheduling this late in the year – but it is by no means a certainty that they can or will do that. It will depend on how fast KCC can process your DS260 background checks, and whether they can get your embassy to co-operate to schedule an interview. I would not expect you to hear anything for at least a week or two – but check with them in a few days.
July 21, 2017 at 02:36
thanks so much for your prompt response, ill let you know what happens!
August 22, 2017 at 21:36
Hi!! I just wanted to update you on what happened with my case just in case somebody else ever runs into the same issue! I actually just the email today that they assigned an appointment at the embassy in Caracas for september 5th. Its cutting it really close to the deadline (im a dv2017) but hey they made it happen! thanks for all that you do for everybody!!
-Carolina.
August 22, 2017 at 22:25
They seem to be finalizing the September interviews for the last few cases and late submissions like yours. I’m glad you got scheduled.

I read from previous posts about marriage.
My parents actually got married (Traditional marriage)in 2016 of July that’s is before the entry time.they later received their marriage certificate in 2017 of june.but during the initial entry they played as married couples.
1.Will the CO need additional proof apart from the marriage certificate n photos?
2.Can this cause any denial, since they later got their certificate in 2017?
We are from Liberia.
Thanks sir,I await your kindly reply.
July 21, 2017 at 00:41
1. They might ask for proof of the relationship existed prior to the entry. You are part of that proof.
2. The risk is low.
July 21, 2017 at 00:47
1.proof like what apart from the certificate n photos?
What other proofs ?
July 21, 2017 at 00:56

Hi Britsimon. My husband is an dv lotto winner 2018AF7xxx. We have concerns as he was involved with petty theft when he was 17 in 1993. He was acquited but to our horror we discovered that he was charged instead of his then friend when we did a background check. We are going to appeal this but can’t say how long it will take. We are abviously going to put the truth on the ds230 form but we are very concerned of what the outcome will be. What would you suggest we do in this case.
July 21, 2017 at 11:59
It depends on the severity and nature of the crime. If it is something very minor, then it won’t be a problem.
July 21, 2017 at 12:19
Hello simon, 24 days are left before my visa expires, Any problem if i travel?
July 21, 2017 at 12:32
If you want a sensible answer you have to give me more idea what you are asking…
Travel where?
Have you entered the USA before now?
Are you talking about entering the USA for the first time to activate your status.
Be clear.
July 21, 2017 at 12:36

July 21, 2017 at 13:09
Hello Brit
I went to your article ” Dv 2017 Selectee counts released ” Would you please make clear the following ( what does it mean )
1. May be a few cases in Nepal
2. Other than Nepal
July 21, 2017 at 13:26
You have taken these words out of context – but What I was saying then (in June 2016, before the second draw) was that only Nepal high case numbers would be disappointed. That turned out to be an exactly accurate prediction.
Nepal already had too many selectees *before* the second draw. The second draw Nepal selectees were all left out and in the end there were a few 1st draw cases in Nepal over the cutoff – exactly what I had predicted.
Egypt had a cutoff too – but that cutoff was within the second draw range, which hadn’t yet happened when the article was written.
For anyone else to read and understand what I had predicted, the article is here – https://britsimonsays.com/dv2017-selectee-counts-released/

Good day dear Simon,

July 21, 2017 at 13:52
You can live anywhere,. but the GC/SSN will be sent to the address on your DS260 – unless you change it at the POE when you first arrive.
July 21, 2017 at 14:34
Hello simon, appologies. Me and my wife have been followig your blog since we started the process. Its been a great guide and we have no words to thank you. We will happily donate as soon as possible.
We have few questions. My wife is 2017 dv lottory winner. We attended the interview and the visa was issued on april 11 with expire date of october 12, 2017. My wife travelled on may 23rd and i stayed To finish educational study. Now that i have finished my study, i am plannig to travel on august 16th & join my spouse. Our medical date was on march 10th. And interview date was april 4. This means i have 24 days to the expire date of the visa from the medical result day. I have never entered to US before.
my question is, is there any problem to travel on august 16? I have 24 days before my visa expires with 6 months validity. Thank you sir.
July 21, 2017 at 15:31
No problem.

Hi Simon! I want to ask you a question about the embassy. I have been selected to DV Lottery 2018. I´m Venezuelan. My question is if the embassy (for political or any other reason) leaves the country, I lost my opportunity to apply and submit the DS260 for the Green Card? Or can I have the interview in other place or another embassy?
Thank you for your help
July 21, 2017 at 17:29
You would be able to switch to another embassy – however, this takes time and in cases where an embassy is closed it would normally reveal a pretty difficult position inside that country, which would make travel complicated anyway. This did happen in Yemen, and people were allowed to switch to other embassies, although not everyone found it easy to travel to be interview.
July 21, 2017 at 19:18
Hi simon, I entered US 7 weeks ago and received SSN in the course of first week. We have not yet received the green cards. I checked the status and found that they were mailed on July 5. Should I continue waiting or visit USCIS offices. I changed our address online one week after arrival. Waiting to hear your thought. Thank you.

Hi Brit, I hope you are well.
One question: If the interview did not ask for the affidavit, does it mean that they did not ask for it anymore? In immigration at the airport for example? Grateful xlya
July 21, 2017 at 20:55
No – it would not be requested at the airport.

Hello Simon and I’m very grateful fot the work you’re doing here for all of us.
My husband’s case number is EU000079.. and we have filled the DS260 form on the 9th of May. My question is should we hope to hear from KKC in late August? And having said that i want to know please, does it make any difference, will it take longer, because we’re currently living in Australia and we selected to be called for an interview in Sydney ,not in Europe?
Thank you and keep up with the good work.

Hi Brit,
First off, I must express my appreciation for this well-informing website on DV-Lottery.
I’m one of the selectees of DV2018. While filling out the application, my spouse and children were derivatives. Unfortunately, I’m divorced at the moment. And I won’t be able to take the children with me. What are the steps to take in order to remove them from the derivative list when filing out DS-260? Are there any pitfalls by doing so?
Thank you very much!
July 22, 2017 at 10:56
You list them all on your DS260, but don’t submit the DS260 for each of them. No problem.

July 22, 2017 at 13:25
Hi Brit,
In the DV Lottery entry, I think I made a mistake, so in the second address, I added another address besides the one I am from. I did this just to make sure my card doesn’t get lost(now I know I get it in the US) and I met an American friend and he told me that the second address doesn’t mean another address, rather a better explanation of the address.
How I entered:
Address: My original address
Address 2 (Optional): Here I added an address of my Fathers business.
I do have a good number (low) for the application, I’m planning to apply the coming week for DS-260. Am I too late?
July 22, 2017 at 13:28
The addresses don’t matter. Just enter correct details in the DS260. You are late, but not “too” late.
July 22, 2017 at 14:05
Hi Brit thank you for all the help. i want to know if the affidavit of support form for a joint sponsor is the same form to be used by the original sponsor
July 22, 2017 at 16:49

July 22, 2017 at 20:16
Dear Simon ,
I have some concern . Before my spouse has been rejected for DV lottery as a derivative to her previous spouse who has been the principal Applicant . The reason. For rejection was document Fraud or misrepresentation. It has been six years since then. Rightnow , she is my wife and we have two children. I won DV 2018 . I am the principal Applicant. Do you think the reason for her refusal can still make her ineligible for the application as a derivatives.
Regards
Ronald
July 22, 2017 at 20:24
It depends on the nature and circumstances of the misrepresentation. In the end, only the CO can decide.
July 22, 2017 at 20:35
Dear Simon,
It was a birth certificate which was genuinely issued from birth registry but poor print quality with shades on them . Been the base for rejection.
Second question
Is the Reason for rejection affects only the principal or derivatives future visa applications.
Thanks again.
Regards
Ronald
July 22, 2017 at 22:48
As I said – only the CO can decide. In the circumstances you describe, the derivative might not have any problem.

July 23, 2017 at 13:46
Hi simon, how are you? The last dv i played i wasnt selected. I wanted to ask how can we know if we made errors in the application form and disqualifued cause i was really unsure abt my form. And i dont want to repeat the same mistake next time.
My name in my passport is written as Abel kahase berihu, my name, father’s name and grandfather’s name respectively. And i have no median name. My qn is what i should write in last name or surnname? ??
Other qn that confuses me always what is exactly to write on the address quwstion? ?
Am just asking all this to becarefull nxt tim
July 23, 2017 at 14:08
The DV lottery has a low chance of selection – average chance of winning is once in 200 years. As for the form – just answer the questions honestly, and according to the instructions.
July 24, 2017 at 20:22
I know that really well, i jus want to clear this confusion , please answer my two q
July 23, 2017 at 14:01
Hello Brit,
How are you?
My wife is 2017 winner, after we performed our medical examination the hospital asked her to do a test for TB and she did it. She was given a report, which was attached with other documents shown during the interview the in US Embassy in Cairo on April 18.
In the interview, the consular told us to send the medical examination as soon as we receive from the hospital and told us that his acceptance to give us the visa depends on that medical examination.
After the interview (April 18), our Visa Status in (ceac.state.gov) was “Administrative Processing”. The medical report was sent on June 11. When checking the website, it indicates that the last case last update was on June 12. Therefore, I guess that the US Embassy received my medical examination.
Until now, the Visa Status of my case is still “Administrative Processing”
I sent three emails to them and they reply the same answer “The file with the officer for his review, once we finish our procedures, we will process the case to conclusion”
I want to know
* How long will administrative processing take in your opinion.
* In the interview I understood from the consular that is all our documents are complete so I’m confused about the reasons of Administrative Processing, what is your opinion?
Thanks
July 23, 2017 at 14:06
I don’t know the reason, or how long it will take.

Hi Brits
I wish to ask if I can use my wife’s and daughter’s ID details in the section
asking for passport details on ds260 form. This is due to the reason that they need to do new passport documents and this can take 2-3 months. In order not to delay the filling and submission of ds260 form, can I go ahead with there ID details. Thanks

Hello Sir,
1# I’ve already submitted DS-260 n’ i’m concerned about Date of Attendance of HIGH SCHOOL “from” year is not correct, but the Date of Attendance “To” is correct but since it’s not mentionned in the diploma is it okey, or should i request to unlock the form?
2# I submitted the form on 11/05/2017, does it cause a delay if i re-open it?
Thanks,

Good evening Simon, pls is the dv lottery cancelled?
July 23, 2017 at 23:33
No.

Hello Brit can you pls clarify this to me. It says, parents and siblings of the entrant are ineligible to receive DV visas as dependents, and you should not include them on your entry.
1.Are they talking about twin brother n sister with the same parent or what?
July 23, 2017 at 23:33

My mother is a green card holder and my name is on her case to get a visa but she said she have to get a call from Barbados embacy for my interview
How long will that take?

Hi Simon, I just findout that I won dv 2017 and someone uses wrong information in filing the DS260 to KCC which I was not aware of from what I understood from the cafe guy he said an interview date was even set for me.
I didn’t no anything, and in June I applied for business visa/Conference which I was denied. My issue here is can I start my process all over and apply to KCC? Please help me Sir.
I are surprise and thinking where I played and left my confirmation they are the one who did this to me. Advice please
July 24, 2017 at 00:53
My advice is to be more careful about who you trust. As for the lottery win, it is probably too late to do anything but you can ask KCC.

Good morning I’m in a state of confusion and needs your good advice.
During the initial entry in October of last 2016, I used the last name of my new Dad who married my mother a year ago .will it not cause me any denial during interview because I have his name on my birth certificate as my father like wise as mother name as mother.pls I need your brilliant idea.
I await your reply sir .

It sounds like you have fraudulent documents and have used a name that is not legally your name. Of course there can be a problem.
July 24, 2017 at 15:24
So can I filled in the DS260 with my former last name or write KCC?
Pls don’t be mad at me sir.

Honestly – I don’t know what you should do. You will have to decide the best way to proceed.
