August 26, 2017 at 03:27
A Sales Manager would normally have enhanced duties greater than a sales representative. So – you need to look carefully and be honest with yourself whether your job aligns with that role.
August 26, 2017 at 04:38
Thanks brit.yes sales manager role is matching my current job role.my job duties are administrating and supervising 6 salesman and 10 merchandizers , settings sales targets and motivating them to achieve the targets and maintaining sales force discipline.Brit what should I do?unlock and correct it or explain in interview? Because am planning go through my working experience .is SVP level is effect on working experience Base interview?
August 26, 2017 at 04:52
Yes unlock. To be approved you will have to prove your job aligns with the sales manager role.
August 26, 2017 at 05:40

August 24, 2017 at 12:35
Hello Brit. My GC case status indicates that it has been mailed to me on the July 12, 2017 to and address I provided at the interview which I did not go there. But I provided a new address to the CBPS at the point entry, so I called the person if the card has been delivered but the person said no. I contacted the USCIS at their office but the officer told me it’s has been mailed and just handed me a form to fill for replacement and pay $540 as a processing fee. Am confused now on what to do so I need your advice. Regards
August 24, 2017 at 13:21
It most likely was delivered at the address you had at the interview. Contact USCIS again and explain you changed the address at the POE, if they have the record of that, they may do something.
August 24, 2017 at 13:27
Thanks. The new address was on their system and the stated it.
August 24, 2017 at 13:31
OK – then argue that it should have been where the card was sent.
August 24, 2017 at 14:35

Hi Simon,
my case is 2018AF88xx and i had submitted the DS-260 on 25th of may, after that i had unlocked the ds-260 form on 22th august and resubmitted on 24th of august, so i would like to know does this causes a delay for the schedule of the interview appointment as am supposed to be scheduled on November.
Thanks
August 24, 2017 at 17:08
No delay – although some DS260s take longer than others anyway – so wait and see.
August 24, 2017 at 16:55
Hi simon Im from Iran and Im maine applicant. I don’t have any family in america but my wife’s uncles are living in washangtone dc and support us can I use bonafide?
August 24, 2017 at 17:10
Possibly. In reality – nothing is concrete as these procedures are new (and possibly temporary).
August 24, 2017 at 18:20
What is DS260 pls
August 24, 2017 at 21:26
It is the application form for an immigrant visa.
August 24, 2017 at 21:01
Hi Simon,
First of all thanks for everything you do.
I have just realized I made mistake while filling in my current address in ds-260 as well as the dv entry form. My husband did the same for his entry. We have abbreviated apartment number like app. in stead of apt. as it is the correct way in north american way. Do you think this might cause a problem, should I ask for unlocking the ds 260 or better wait till interview.
Thanks very mcuh for your help!
August 24, 2017 at 21:26
It’s not a problem.
August 25, 2017 at 03:03

August 25, 2017 at 04:58
To be scheduled for interview, the DS260 must be processed *AND* the case must be under the number shown on the visa bulletin (lower of region or country)
August 25, 2017 at 11:19
Hello Simon,
I have some confusion regarding couple of questions in DS260 form:
1. About the primary occupation: I used to study abroad but now i am back to my country but still writing my thesis for masters degree from home which i will hand in around early September. I am confused if my primary occupation should be ‘a student’ or ‘other’ with an explanation regarding my situation.
2. About the vaccinations: I have taken most of the prescribed vaccinations as a child but i have lost the documentation and I have failed to obtain it back. what should i write as the question specifically asks if I can present the documentation for it.
Thanks.
August 25, 2017 at 13:30
1. There is no wrong answer. Make an accurate choice.
2. No
August 28, 2017 at 22:19
Hi brit , about the vaccination question i answered YES . does it make any problem?
August 28, 2017 at 22:32

August 25, 2017 at 12:49

ok,sample case no 2018AS13000 is not coming visa bulletin before next year September 2018,what he do?he need to wait more time? how he will notified?
August 25, 2017 at 18:37
If a number doesn’t become current and get interviewed/approved before September 30 of that year, the chance is over.
August 25, 2017 at 16:49
Hey Britt,
Me and my husband got visa on 22nd aug for 2017 Dv lottery and my husband is the main applicant. I wanted to ask you few things.
1) He has Class A or B(TB) req. ATTN. Of USPHS at POE as annotation on his visa. I came to knw that he has to undergo some medical examinations at our POE, so do we need to worry abt it?
2) A friend of mine who lives in Texas sent the welcome letter for us but now my husband’s brother wants us to land at Newyork. So, will there be any problem if our POE is Newyork?
August 25, 2017 at 18:38
1. Why worry? Does worrying help?
2. No
August 25, 2017 at 18:46
No it doesn’t but I was worried if he is detected with active TB bacteria then we will be sent back to our country. Or is it just follow up examination? Btw we are from Nepal.
August 25, 2017 at 21:56
Active TB is a problem. The medical will check for that.
August 25, 2017 at 23:03
Hi simon, Do you know if there is any second draw for 2018? thanks
August 25, 2017 at 23:18

August 26, 2017 at 06:43
Hi Brit,
I have been selected for the Dv lottery 2018,i filled up the ds 260 form and submitted last June.
However i am pregnant and due early October. My question is should i email KCC to unlock my form and submit after delivery so as to include the baby? There was no option to update the pregnancy on the form and i thought the interviews will be done before i deliver.
Thanks in advance.
Florence
August 26, 2017 at 14:00
The answer depends on your case number range – what is it?
August 26, 2017 at 07:15
good Brit, thanks for all the assistance so far. i still have some worries:
1. from my case number i may be programme for interview early. what should i do if am called for interview when my passport or other documents are not yet ready?
2. can i ask for an extension?
3. If yes, how long can it take to be called again for interview.
Thank you
August 26, 2017 at 13:59
1. You get at least 6 weeks notice of an interview – and you can be preparing documents now. That should be enough time!
2. You can ask to reschedule – but that carries some risk.
3. It varies – there is no predicting that. I know cases that reschedule without problem, I know of a case that took 8 months delay for rescheduling.
August 26, 2017 at 08:40
Hello brit ı am curious about my interview date. Case no 2018eu38xx
Resubmit August 17. Do you think that ı will get 2NL late october??
August 26, 2017 at 13:50
Wait and see.

Hi Khadija sister,
I am also a winner from Afghanistan, what is your case number close to? My case number is close to 13000. Thanks!
August 26, 2017 at 12:36
Hello Brit!
I moved to a new apartment a couple of years ago but cant remember the actual month. Its a gap about 2-3 months.
Is this level of accuracy (2-3 months insecurity) a problem in DS-260?
August 26, 2017 at 13:44
No
August 26, 2017 at 12:48
Hi Brit,
Need a bit help based on your knowledge and experience.
My wife is a DV2017 winner and we had an interview in the consulate at August 2nd. All went fine during the interview and in the end we were told all went fine and we need to complete few documents. We were given 221g that request more documents to be completed. Were were asked for: medical exams (we didn’t managed to get the results before interview so we didn’t had them at the interview). a detailed resume for me (because I work in technical field, software engineer) and passports for all. It was told to hand over all those in one piece when it will be ready.
I have sent the resume in that same day via email to the consulate, while hoping that it will help them to start and do background (or any other) checks. All other documents (including passports) were handed over August 21st.
I check the CEAC website every day and see that the “case last updated” date is regularly updates each day, but status still remains “AP”.
1. Is this a regular/standard procedure?
2. On the 221g where all applicants listed I see alien registration number near each of them, is it a good sign?
3. How long should it take before visa is issued?
4. Is there any limit in time how long they can hold our passports?
5. Based on your knowledge/experience, how long should I expect it to be?
Thanks.
August 26, 2017 at 13:44
1. Standard when someone arrives at the interview without all required documents – yes.
2. Not good nor bad.
3. Times vary.
4. The end of the fiscal year (September 30) is when your case must finish by – so if they did not conclude by then, they would give back your passports then.
5. See 3.
August 26, 2017 at 12:51
am a 2017 dv winner and I received my visa but I want to change my sponsor address. can I change my sponsor address at this point?
August 26, 2017 at 13:40
If you mean the address where the GC will be sent – yes – you can change that at the POE (arrival airport) the first time you enter the USA.
August 30, 2017 at 00:01
Hello Brit, thanks for the assistance. I have two questions:
1. Do we have to post documents to NVC after filling the DS260 form?
2. My me is Julius Ohanza, filling Ohanza as my surname and Julius as my given name will change the order of my name with respect to my other documents. Can this be a real problem during my interview?
August 30, 2017 at 00:19
1. No
2. That is not normally a problem.
September 4, 2017 at 11:41
Hello Britt, thanks for the assistance. I would like you to help me with this situation:
1. I have been working as an administrative assistant for about 12 years now and that is what I wrote on my ds260 form but on the job I will like to while in the US I put Management because I hold a diploma in logistics and transport management. Is that alright.
2. As u earlier mentioned, it is easier as a student but the ds260 form did not request if am going as a student or worker since all the information were needed. What do u advise me to do to be on a safe site.
3. Should you unlock your ds260 for modifications or correction, will your confirmation number change?
Thanks once more.
September 4, 2017 at 14:05
1. It won’t affect your case.
2. Just be honest. That’s all.
3. No it does not change your case number when you unlock.
August 26, 2017 at 16:38
Hello Simon,
I am a DV2018 winner and I have my interview in October, if everything goes well and after I “activate” my green card in November how long will it takes to receive the green card ?
thank you
August 26, 2017 at 16:46
It can take up to 3 or 4 months.
August 27, 2017 at 13:39
How was it possible for a DV2018 selectee to have the interview appointed so early ( october 2018) ?
August 27, 2017 at 15:16
THe DV2018 year runs from October 1 2017 to September 30 2018.
August 26, 2017 at 16:49
My mum is dv2018 winner. I already sent dv260. If she comes to America on visitors visa to visit me can I file adjustment of for her. If I can what can I do about my brother who is dependant on dv260
August 26, 2017 at 16:59
Coming to America with the intention to adjust status is an easy way to get disqualified. Don’t do it.
August 26, 2017 at 17:19
Hello simon.
in the ds260 where it sayswhat languages skills do you have I wrote that none. but I have basic English. do You think that the consular officer can deny the visa based on not possessing abilities in English?. I need to unlock the ds260 and change it?
August 26, 2017 at 18:03
No problem, no need to unlock.
August 26, 2017 at 20:24
Hi Simon ,last time I asked u if me and my family living in d/f country, can we do interview differently u say u have to do together p/z clear it more .
Second my children do not have passport and in DS 260 I filled it other travel document ,what if they come in the interview DATE with passport.
Thanks Simon please cLear it for me.
August 26, 2017 at 21:25
The interview of the family must be with the winner. How can I be more clear?
The passport is no problem.
August 26, 2017 at 20:59
Hello simon!
At my family information
I made state/province : Do not know
Because i thought it was like my personal details
State/ province : does not apply
Is that a problem ?
August 26, 2017 at 21:23
Maybe – you should just answer the questions accurately, rather than trying to guess what does/doesn’t apply.
August 26, 2017 at 21:28
Because in my section is different from parents section.
In my section is DOES NOT APPLY ,so i checked this .
In parents section was DO NOT KNOW . I checked this . Because i thought it was Does not apply.
August 26, 2017 at 21:31
In Albania , we dont have province or states . Thats why i choose does not apply .
August 26, 2017 at 21:36
My case number is 3xxx EU . Can you give me an opinion what should i do?
Thanks
August 26, 2017 at 22:03
If you believe it was accurate to the best of your knowledge, then there is nothing you need to do.
August 27, 2017 at 02:49
Simon, please someone has my information and the case number and logging in to my ds 260 forms to unlock it and change my information and resubmit it again.but the person don’t have my confirmation number. What do I do
August 27, 2017 at 06:33
The only thing you can do is ask KCC to lock it permanently, but that means not even you can unlock it.
August 27, 2017 at 04:46
hello Brit,
thank you so much for your information.
i have already scheduled for October interview, i saw a mistake on my wife 260 form, there are some mistake on spelling of her father name. I can’t unlock her ds 260 form because we already scheduled.
what do you think this is big mistake or no problem.
August 27, 2017 at 06:34
No problem.
August 27, 2017 at 06:56
Hello Brit, We really appreciate the help. I had a question regarding my GC
I am DV 2017 winner and I am in USA now and I received my
Plastic GC but when I check the GC I found some mistake in my
Place of birth which is switched with my son place of birth I contact USCIS they told me To file I 90 form for replacement the GC plastic card with correct information, my question is
I already filed I 90 form and the USCIS send me schedule date for biometric check and I need to Go Back to my home country after the finger print and before receive my new GC and then return to USA with my Immigrant visa Can I do that without risk at POE. I preciate your advice.
August 27, 2017 at 15:06
Your temporary visa was endorsed upon entry and is good up to one year. If in doubt, ask USCIS.
August 27, 2017 at 08:19
Hello Brit is there any possible notice of next VB ?
Thanks
August 27, 2017 at 15:07
No
August 27, 2017 at 08:28
Hi brit,
Thank you for your help. We really appreciate it.
Im currently in the US with F1 visa, and i will be here 2 years from now.
Is it eaiser to choose the interview here in US or better in my Home country?
– do you think in the US interview, they will ask me about financial proof? I have a schoolership to study abroad.
August 27, 2017 at 15:10
You can adjust status in the USA. Yes they will ask about finances, so you should obtain an I-134. Read the link below and look at the spreadsheet linked from the first post on that link for an understanding of AOS.
http://forums.immigration.com/threads/dv-2018-aos-only.336256/
August 27, 2017 at 20:06
Very helpful.
When I can adjust my status?
Since I did not submit the 260 form yet. You advised me to wait becouse I have a higher number AS11xxx.
To make sure To be interviewd and not loose my F1 visa
August 28, 2017 at 02:49
You have a long time to wait. There is no need to submit your DS260 for now – and in the meantime learn more about AOS. You will need to process fast if you become current – so make sure you know about the early submission policy. All in the link I gave you.
August 28, 2017 at 05:28
Do you mean I submit the 260 and 134 after I become current?
August 28, 2017 at 14:33
You need to learn about AoS. Although you do submit the DS260 for Aos, it does not drive the process like it does for CP. THe I-485 is the paperwork you need to be concerned with.
August 27, 2017 at 09:54
Hello Simon,
In DS260 form i don’t understand this question,
-Do you seek to enter the United States for the purpose of performing skilled or unskilled labor but have not yet been certified by the Secretary of Labor?
How do i get this certificate?
August 27, 2017 at 15:10
You don’t. Answer “yes”.
August 28, 2017 at 02:24
For a child the answer is NO right?
Thanks
August 28, 2017 at 02:55
It doesn’t matter either way.
August 27, 2017 at 13:03
Hi Simon,
We had our interview last August 22,2017 but i’m not sure if approved all I know is that the consul advise that there will be no sending of passport until end of this month due to backlog instead it will be release on 1st week of September, then he gave me the small piece of paper in which it has website to confirm my delivery address he told me to check my address if it’s correct to where I want to receive the visa.
1. Shall I consider this approved?
2. Do they follow their timeline?
3. Does that mean on or before August 8, 2017 we will have our visa?
Thanks,
Lhae
August 27, 2017 at 15:14
1. No – wait until you have the visa in your hand.
2. Not always.
3. Patience.
August 27, 2017 at 18:16
I didnt understand that question and I answered no, do I have to unlock?
August 27, 2017 at 18:18

You don’t. Answer “yes”.
That’s what I’m talking about
August 28, 2017 at 02:47
Yes is more accurate, but whether you answered No or yes – doesn’t matter.
August 28, 2017 at 05:47
I think the answer MUST be YES for an adult outside USA. If a CO asks how to survive without skilled or unskilled work? Your opinion of unlocking since expecting interview next JAN/FEB/MAR ?
August 28, 2017 at 14:32
Like I said – either answer does not matter. Leave the answering to me please.
August 27, 2017 at 13:49
Hi Simon,
I read FAQ,but didn’t find an answer about travelling as a family.I understand that we must travel before visa expires and I read somewhere that principal applicant must either travel first alone or together with family.Derivatives can’t travel before principal applicant. My question is :
Providing we get visa at the same time can I (principal)just travel alone and then my family joins me few weeks later or do I need to tell CO at the interview that I am planning to travel alone first and my family will join me later for them to perhaps make notes of it in the system?
I would like to sort accommodation, job, school etc on my own and then wife and daughter would come when everything is in place to not affect daughter’s school study very much and to make transfer easier.
Thank you
August 27, 2017 at 15:16
You don’t need to tell anyone.
August 27, 2017 at 18:46

August 28, 2017 at 02:48
Nothing. That has been reported by others so it is “normal”.
August 28, 2017 at 14:18

Hi simon my brother was dv 2017 winner and has been granted US visa last week, the issue is
1.there is complete street address, city, state and Zip code but no apartment number in his ds 260 and neither in the welcome letter and the application form for greencard that he already filled up from nepal. So will he be in trouble at the port of entry because of the incomplete address? 2.How can we contact to request USCIS to send the greencard, social security card in the correct address?
3.In the immigration which address he should tell to the officer? Correct one or the one in the ds-260?
4.can he tell the officer he forgot to write the correct address in DS-260?

All questions: This should be corrected at the POE (arrival airport in USA).

Hi simon
I’m from Iran and 6 months ago me and my wife passed our interview. After Trump executive orders Yervan embassy asked us to send bona fide documents if we have it and we send bona fide documents (my wife’s uncles are living in Washington dc and I’m main applicant) 9 days ago we send every documents they asked ( tow new photos of each person, updated medical tests, updated fainancial support documents) in 25th Aug we got new update in ceas website but still NOTHINGS happened no issue or update.
My question is, based on this events and these processes untill now, is it possible they won’t issue our visa?

Hi Britt good morning! We already did another infopass Appointment and they still saying: the files we did not receive it!!! What else can I do? Is there any option to call at KCC or any else?
August 28, 2017 at 14:20
You can call KCC and ask if it has been requested. But it is up to the FO to request it. As a precaution, make another infopass.

Hello Brit,
A. “For purposes of the immigration medical examination, the flu season starts on October 1 and ends on March 31 each year. If your immigration medical examination is during this period, you are required to have the seasonal flu vaccine. If you have an immigration medical examination completed between April 1 and September 30, when it is not the flu season for immigration purposes, you are not required to document that you have received the seasonal flu vaccine”.
My country is currently in Winter and I need to organise a medical, either Sept (Winter) or Oct (Spring).
Q. Would I follow the USA requirements as answered above from a Q&A?
Thank you,
Donna
