Hello Simon, I am a dv 2017 winner and now in America with my green card. Unfortunately, I got married in February 2017 after my ds260 had already been processed and an interview was scheduled. So I could not add my wife. We are expecting a baby in November. So my question is, can I file for my wife and the baby early next year to come to America
September 9, 2017 at 11:45
You can file for them and it will take about 2 years.
September 11, 2017 at 11:37
Hi Brit, what is your expectations for Egypt in 2018 dv 2nd visa bulletin??
September 11, 2017 at 14:05
I don’t have an expectation.
September 9, 2017 at 09:49
Hi Simon, how many times can one be allowed to unlock ds260 form.
September 9, 2017 at 11:49
1328
September 9, 2017 at 11:53
Dear Brit, I am from Southern Cameroon, Africa. And My CN is 38xxx. I also filled the DS260 form in late May.
I wanted to know if KCC will send me an email for the interview
Also I don’t know if my number is safe.
Thanks Sir
September 9, 2017 at 11:59
You will get an email for an interview – but not until next spring/summer.
September 9, 2017 at 12:02
Thanks Mr Brit
September 9, 2017 at 12:03
Hello , Do i have to proof a sponsor in my interview who lives in USA? And if yes , is my sponsor going to fill only I-864 Form? Does she need any other documents for proof?
Many Thanks for you time.
September 9, 2017 at 12:28
I-134 not the I-864.
PLus Photo ID, W2/1040, Payslips.

September 10, 2017 at 06:32
Hello Simon,
when does I-134 needs to be filled? Is it after receiving the 2NL?
September 10, 2017 at 14:04
Yes – so you present it at interview.
September 9, 2017 at 12:45
Dear Brit, i was filling DS 260 with the correct name GYESI-ADDO, as you told me not to use the mistaken name, that is GYASI-ADDO, but the system is not allowing me to use the correct name. please what should i do. THANKS
September 9, 2017 at 13:59
It is probably not allowing the hyphen. Use a space.
September 9, 2017 at 13:15
Hi Brit ,
My wife has an bank account but i won the lottery. Do we need to share account both of us for proofing. Or only her account is acceptable?
thank you
September 9, 2017 at 13:58
No problem to have only her account.
September 9, 2017 at 13:19
Hi Britt how are you!!! I keep you informed about our case. I just left my fifth infopass appointment and the files were sent yesterday to the local office. we must wait for them to arrive so we can be assigned the date for the interview. with the favor of God let us hope that they hasten the whole Process and achieve approval before September 30
September 9, 2017 at 13:56
Glad to hear you are making progress!
September 9, 2017 at 14:08
Thanks to you Britt, you have been an important piece in this process!!! God bless you
September 12, 2017 at 17:24
Contact your local office ASAP. Try a walk in. Ask them to adjudicate the case now because visas are running out.
September 14, 2017 at 01:06
Thank you for let me know! Today they contac me and my interview will be this Saturday. I hopefully we are on time to get it!
September 9, 2017 at 13:38
greetings sir.i requested for my ds260 to be unlock.
1.concerning the present work/educational entry in ds260.i own a small shop n it does not have a name. at tge level of name of employer should i give my name.
2.what is meant by secondary phone number.
3.am from africa/cameroon n u said in a post that most african countries form of affidavit of support can be a close relation who resides in the US n is a citizen. i have a big cousin who has been there for about 30years can i count on him as my affidavit of support provided he does not file in the i-134 form? wish u the best of health
September 9, 2017 at 13:58
1. Self employed
2. A second phone number (if you have one)
3. The embassy will probably ask about where you plan to stay in the USA. Your cousin could be your “host” and that will probably satisfy the embassy.
September 10, 2017 at 19:13
Hi brit.pls a quick question here. Does the addresse I wrote down for where my green card has to be sent the same place I will live wen I enter America?
Cos I think I won’t be living in the address I filled in the form. How can that be corrected?
September 11, 2017 at 03:25
Your last chance to correct is when you enter the USA for the first time.
September 9, 2017 at 15:03
Hi Brit,
My name is my high school certificate has Four name while in my passport it only has three names. The forth name is not in the passport.
I just realesed this. (The joy of having my dad fill my applications when I was a kid).
Should I be concerned?
September 9, 2017 at 15:28
No problem. Your DS260 name should match your passport (which ideally should match your birth cert)
September 9, 2017 at 15:12
dear / britsimon
I am made several mistakes in edv 10/2016 winner dv2018 and I want your advice.
1- I am an Egyptian living in Saudi Arabia and my family lives in Egypt When I registered the title i was registered the title Saudi Arabia to all of us
2-photo requirements Did not materialize Where I am photographed them by myself in the house and the background was colored
3-I have a postgraduate diploma “two years of study after the end of my bachelor’s degree” but I chose a master’s degree . it can be the same academic level in the American education system – the source
I think I should going to my interview alone without my family ” dont lock ds260 for them and chose no when ask ( Is this spouse or child an immigrating to the U.S. with you? ) in my Application . thus I have avoided first and second error .. note :- i am principal applicant
thanks mr / britsimon
September 9, 2017 at 17:40
1. I assume you have an AF number. That is important. Your family will interview with you – so that might mean they have to travel to SA with you.
2. Probably not a problem.
3. I’m confused by all your questions – but this the most. Make your questions/points clear.
September 9, 2017 at 19:11
I am sorry Mr BritSimon I will be writing again because I am bad in english
September 9, 2017 at 15:44
hi Simon. I wish a happy life. I have a big problem relation to affidavit support. I want to settle at Baltimore with my best friend, he lived there but he is a student currently. and he might can’t fill the affidavit form due to his income status. so I requested my uncle to fill form 134 as sponsor. He has accepted my request on phone. Thus my question is;
Is it possible to present the affidavit support different from the will be permanent residence place? what is your suggestion to handle this problem?. from Ethiopia.many thanks
September 9, 2017 at 17:41
No problem. They may be satisfied with your host alone – the I-134 will be a useful back up.
September 9, 2017 at 18:05
Thanks dear
September 9, 2017 at 15:51
Hello Simon ! How are you ?
I have a question about the sponsor .
I have a sponsor who is the aunt of my brother’s fiance .
Is there any problem with this relation ?
I mean , should i count on him ?
Thanks in advance
September 9, 2017 at 17:42
They put more value on relations and close friends. So – it is up to you – I can’t answer with certainty.
September 9, 2017 at 16:17
Thanks Simon, will do that and get back to you
September 9, 2017 at 16:19
Hi brit,
How r u doing? I came again.
1. I am hoping to arrive to US early october. My question is my sposor told me that changed his location but didn’t send me his new address and I couldn’t reach him. Can I give other person’s address? Or what can I answer to immigration Officer?
2. Is my sponsor supose to come to take me from airport?
Thank you
September 9, 2017 at 17:43
1. Change the address at the port of entry (airport). That is where your Green Card will be sent.
2. That is up to you and your sponsor – no one else thinks about your plans once you leave the airport.
September 9, 2017 at 18:02
Thank you brit

Hi Simon
Sir I’m from Sri Lanka. I’m 2018 dv program selectee,my case number is 12xxx. I also filled the DS260 form in late June.
I want to know,
Q.01) If KCC will send me an email for the interview ?

Within the next week.
September 10, 2017 at 11:24
sir / britsimon
I’m sorry for any inconvenience for you .
IN eDV when asks what is the highest level of education you have achieved as of today ?
I chose a Master’s degree but i dont have it . i have post graduate diploma and it is a “two years of study after i got bachelor’s degree” it can be the same academic level in the American education system – This explanation is mentioned in https://nces.ed.gov/pubs2016/2016100/app_a19.asp
is i am in a problem ?
September 10, 2017 at 13:57
That should be OK.
September 10, 2017 at 14:27
Thank you for your interest You are a good man
September 10, 2017 at 11:28

September 10, 2017 at 13:34
Hi Britsimon,
Please i wanted to ask if i get low marks in my High School Examination, will it going to affect or prevent me from getting a VISA into US ?.
September 10, 2017 at 13:55
For DV lottery, there are minimujm requirements that vary by embassy, but include satisfactory High School grades. So yes – it can be a problem.
September 10, 2017 at 14:06
OMG!..
I didn’t have Mathematics so that is going affect me right ?….
September 10, 2017 at 17:10
Hi Simon,
I hold a French baccalaureat from high school with a total of around 10/20 points average. So what do you mean by “satisfactory grades”? Does it mean holding the diploma or diploma+ good grades?
I also hold a Msc with honours but I know that is not the requirement.
Thanks
September 11, 2017 at 03:21
I don’t know the grades required in each embassy/school system. Check the embassy website, or use your best judgement. Take the advanced degree proof to the interview also.
September 10, 2017 at 14:10
Can we expect to have visa bulletin for November in this month?
Thanks
September 10, 2017 at 14:16
Obviously yes.
September 10, 2017 at 15:38
Hello
I am a winner DV 2017 Iranian and hear this bad sound that Iran quat currently is finished but I dont belive this new,
Becuase we can find this data which all 3 embassy issues 1974 and the rest is around 1500 visa number .
May I ask is it possible and do you have any news.
September 10, 2017 at 16:20
No I do not believe Iran has hit the country limit.
September 10, 2017 at 15:48
Hi Brit I have harder question
1.we havn’t included our litil douther in both our initial application & ds 260 is it possible to receive her after our move? If it is yes after how many time?
September 10, 2017 at 16:20
No. You broke the rules. You will be disqualified if they know you have a daughter, and you will NEVER be able to bring her to the USA since that would reveal your lie. It is best to not continue with the process now. You can enter DV-2019 – but this time – follow the rules.
September 10, 2017 at 17:48
Halo Brit Simon. Thanks for all the helpful info and God bless. I got a few questions.
1. Is it necessary to fill Primary school education or just fill High school education and above? I filled 1 (high school) in my DS260 but a’ve also attended college.
2. For my host in USA my cousin who used to live at our home in kenya and is now in USA for more than 5years adviced me to fill his wife’s name (whose American). Do i still need to ask them to fill the I-134 form as a backup prior to the interview? And what if they are unwilling to fill the form can i just attend the interview without it?
3. As my CS no is AF201800029XXX and i already submitted DS260 form in mid May according to the info i’ve gathered my interview will probably be in April 2018 or earlier (not sure). Would you recommend i unclock my D260 and adjust the education part if my file has not been scheduled for interview? That’s all if i have more questions willl be back. Thanks sir!
September 11, 2017 at 03:23
1. Age 12 and up.
2. Having the I-134 is best – but attend the interview in any case.
3. Unlock. It won’t delay as you have time to wait.
September 10, 2017 at 17:44
Hi Brit , I was completed Associate degree Diploma and i was going to Bachelor’s Degree Diploma at the same time while i was filling out Ds260 form. I was completed Bachelor degree now ,but Assiote degree is written on the Ds260 form. Is this bad or i have both diploma i can show both of them.
thanks.
September 11, 2017 at 03:22
You can show both – it’s not bad.
September 10, 2017 at 17:56

September 11, 2017 at 01:52
Hi Brit, thank you for all your help two years ago. I’m living in LA now. I made a very small donation to your forum. Regret that it took this long. But things have not been too great. I am working now and going to apply for citizenship in couple of years. There aren’t enough words to thank you for your service. Best of luck! Natasha
September 11, 2017 at 01:59
Thank you for the support Natasha. Sorry it’s been tough – it’s harder than people think to start in a new country. Best of luck to you!!
September 11, 2017 at 02:28
hi Brit,
from yesterday they told iranians in abu dhbi that visa is finished for iranians 2017 winners, is that true?
September 11, 2017 at 03:34
I haven’t heard that.
September 11, 2017 at 03:07
Hey Brit is it possible when filling in the DS260 to say we want our son to come after 2 years?he’s on our initial entry 17yrs.
September 11, 2017 at 03:32
If you don’t include him in the DV process, you will have to sponsor him once you are in the USA. That process takes around 2 years.
September 11, 2017 at 07:21
Dear Briet
I and my husband both face interview on sep1 2017, still we doesnot get visa. I checked our status one is issued and another is ready. If only I get visa my husband doesnot then what should we do? what is process for taking my husband with me or as soon as possible ?
September 11, 2017 at 13:51
Be patient.
September 11, 2017 at 07:38
Dear Simon,
Once again I am back. Thank you very much for your support and assistance.
I am from Nepal, DV 2018 Selectee (AS1***) and expecting interview in November 2017.
Recently, there are changes in names of many Municipalities due to implementation of new Constitution of Nepal.
I got my Birth Verification Certificate (BVC) from my Municipal and Police Clearance Certificate (PCC) from Police Headquarter on same date. However, my BVC shows NEW NAME of my address and PCC shows OLD Name of my address.
My question:
1. Will there be any problem due to difference in my address in 2 certificates issued on same date? (the difference is ONLY because of change in Name of Municipality)
2.If yes, then what documents should I submit so the visa office will satisfy?
Thanks!!!
September 11, 2017 at 13:53
1. No
September 11, 2017 at 15:52
Thanks Mr. Simon for your clarification.
September 11, 2017 at 07:43
CN 2018AF58XX.
SUBMITTED DS-260 FORM ON 29th June.
I requested my form and for derivative to be unlocked on 8th Sep but has not been unlocked yet. I need to correct surname for my mothers because I wrote the current surnames instead of the surnames at birth.
QUESTION
1. Incase they don’t unlock can I correct it at interview. (am suspecting may be I can be scheduled for November interview).
2. Can it cause denial.
September 11, 2017 at 13:54
1. Yes
2. No
September 11, 2017 at 14:59
THANK YOU
September 12, 2017 at 06:21
My conscious was true. They have replied that they can’t open my case cause is current for interview processing. either way I can make changes at the interview or email the consular section at my interview place. I will just go your way. THANK YOU ONCE AGAIN.
September 11, 2017 at 08:23
Hello Britney,
Thank you that you have been solving out all my queries.
I came to USA on September 8, 2017. At arrival ( port of entry) , the immigration officer asked for the passport and an immigration packet that I was provided in my home country with passport and visa. He then put a stamp on my passport. Kept that immigration packet with him and ;
September 11, 2017 at 08:24
Hey Brit
1-In eDV (not the ds-260) I posted 2 photos for my baby (My son and my daughter, their age is 6 months) that doesn’t match USCIS photo requirements ex. Colored background and not taken in a full face view directly facing the camera , I’m afraid that all our 6 applications would get rejected because of this so, taking the safe side , i was thinking to apply as a married and have kids but traveling alone in the ds-260 and dont lock ds-260 for them and when i get my greencard I’d bring them by applying for k3 / k4 visa . Do u think it’s a good idea or shall i reconsider adding them to my ds-260 form and take the risk ?
September 11, 2017 at 13:57
It’s not a problem. Relax.
September 11, 2017 at 14:27
THANKS BRIT

November 20, 2017 at 15:11

Hello Brit,
Thank you that you have been solving out all my queries.
I came to USA on September 8, 2017. At arrival ( port of entry) , the immigration officer asked for the passport and an immigration packet that I was provided in my home country with passport and visa. He then put a stamp on my passport. Kept that immigration packet with him and ; and told me that my Green card packet will be delivered to the provided address.
I heard that a certain fee has to paid from the USCIS website to have my GREEN CARD issued but I have not paid the fee required to get the Green card issued. To pay that fee, I need to have my Alien Number, I dont have any document with me where i can find the Alien Number. Is there any way from where I can find out my Alien Number to pay the fee required to issue green card? Can I find out that number from my Visa?
Thank You
September 11, 2017 at 13:58
Yes it is on your visa.
September 11, 2017 at 09:48

my case # 2018AS00011678
thanks in advance
September 11, 2017 at 14:03
Your number is high, so you will wait until summer next year before hearing anything. They email and you check the ESC page.
September 11, 2017 at 10:43
Hi Britt,
I have been scheduled for an interview next month, i have a 5yrs daughter i included in my DS-260 but now i’m thinking of not traveling with her. Can i be refused a Visa if i’m asked during the interview and i and i answer that she wont be traveling with me? reason is, i dont think i can have enough time for her since i plan on working and going to school. Please advise.

No – the final published number was 7450. That will not change, so any Nepal case from Nepal of 7450 and above has no more chance.
