You seem to have a problem in discerning the truth. In most things, but particularly in immigration matters, that is not a good thing.
September 11, 2017 at 16:24
my husband and and i have received our visa but my worried is that my children are here. the consular ask if i would go with them but i answered no. but now i have realized that i should go with them since no one can take proper care of them for me so in this case can i still process their visa for them or my case is close.
September 11, 2017 at 16:51
You have probably left it too late. You can contact the embassy and see what they say.
September 11, 2017 at 16:59
wont it be too risk for me to lose my visa, please.
September 11, 2017 at 18:04
You need to use your best judgement. You made an unwise decision – and now need to make the best choice for your circumstances.

hey simon, how you doing.please I got a problem. I am a dv winner 2018.i made a mistake with my names when I was playing the lottery.i put MBAH PETER BOH instead of MBA PETER BUH.I FILLED the D260form with the correct name.i am worried please help me.i am from Africa specifically cameroon.my case number is 3×××.i filled my form on the 26 of may and I am worried because I have not gotten the 2NLs from kcc.coukd it be the name problem?
September 11, 2017 at 19:45
The difference between your name on the eDV and the DS260 could have caused a delay, yes, but delays in DS260 processing are common in AF region anyway because the systems are not up to modern standards. Worrying doesn’t make things better. Just be patient.
September 11, 2017 at 19:58
hello Simon,
thanks for the great job. am in a dilemma. i have three names, but my passport and birth certificate has two (eg Brit Simon) however, my high school has my sur name and my other name (eg, Jon Simon and not Brit Simon). do you think its wise to only submit my degree certificate which has the names that apper on my passport and birth certificate? i however declared my third name on the DS form, tho i havent yet submitted the form.
thanks and looking forward to your feedback
Wesley
September 11, 2017 at 20:08
Your DS260 should match your passport/birth cert. For education documents, the main thing is to show they are YOURS, not someone elses’. Think about that.
September 11, 2017 at 20:13
Dear Mr.Simon,
I want to ask you about DV, if i was single at the time I applied for DV lottery as well as the time I submitted my DS-260 application but after that I got married or engaged, what exactly should I do then??? can i add him with me on the interview?? can he come with me or not?
Thank you in advance.

My wife born in Egypt (she is eligible to apply DV-201). i am born in India, can i apply for DV-201 based on my wife birth country (chargeability) . So me and my wife both apply it? is this valid ?

Once you are a citizen – yes.
September 12, 2017 at 02:40
Hi Brit
Me and my wife got married on 2016 after dv selection and we both are here in USA. We had 1 child before marriage but we did not mention her in our case because i had played dv single. So what àre the process to apply for her visa. I am from Nepal.
Thanks.
September 12, 2017 at 03:55
So you lied on your DV entry – and then lied on the DS260 to get the Green Card. That is immigration fraud – it is very serious. You cannot fix this, and could lose your Green Cards. You could discuss it with a lawyer if you want.
September 12, 2017 at 18:34
Hi Brit.
Is there any other way to bring my child to USA either in non-immigrant visa. Can i apply for a tourist visa for her. Or is there any process for her. I am very much worried.
Thank you
September 12, 2017 at 18:37
I already answered. There is nothing more I can say.
September 12, 2017 at 03:28
Hi Britsimon thanks once more for the great job u are doing. im a 2018 dv winner from cameroon and have been scheduled for interview in oct but recently i received a mail from donotreply stipulating i had to register my appointment via this link (https://ais.usvisa-info.com/en-CM/iv/account) prior to the interview. but have tried using the site to create an account for these purpose several times to no avail the feedback i get is ” This site does not provide any support services for Immigrant Visa applications. Our call centers and support team cannot help you with an Immigrant Visa application”
PLS what can you advice me do to go through with this process.
September 12, 2017 at 04:00
I don’t know that system, but you are going to have to use your own judgement and figure it out.
September 12, 2017 at 03:39
Hello there,
I would like to thank you for the great service of yours on DV matters.
I am a DV 2018 lottery winner. I haven’t proceeded further so far because my son will be sitting for the G.C.E. (Advanced Level) examination in August 2018. We believe it’s a problem if visa is issued on such a date that we have to enter US before this exam. I would not like to leave him behind for entry later, which could take long time. So,
1. Do you think I would be able to get the date of entry to US adjusted to fall on a date after that exam is over?
2. Please give me a suggestion on any other (safer) way of going about this.
Thank you very much.
September 12, 2017 at 04:01
Delay your DS260 submission until around May of next year. You will get a July/August interview (assuming your case number is current by then), and then 6 months after that to enter the USA

Hello,
I am keen on making sure my AOS package meets the USCIS’s expectations. Kindly advise about the following:
1- In USCIS forms filing tips web page, under supporting documentation, they ask to write my name on each attached page, and number them. So this applies to all the documents in the page, including diplomas, birth certificate, etc.? If yes, from your experience where on the page this information needs to be located?
2- In form I-485, on page 2, Q 23b. my I-94 expiration date is D/S, whereas the question format is date. What do you recommend to write?
3- Form I-485, on page 2, Q 23 c. Is it correct to write F1, as that is what is in my I-94? Or do I need to add an other precision?
4- For Form I-485, for questions that don’t apply to my case, such as spouse’s infos, is it ok to leave these fields empty? Or should I type N/A in each one of the questions?
I count on your usual support.
Thank you a million

There are instructions for completing the package here –

September 12, 2017 at 05:31
Hi Brits
My wife and I entered the lottery last year as married. The reason being that I had paid her dowry/bride price. However when entering for the lottery she used her surname since we were yet to register our marriage in accordance to the civil rights as at then. This year we found out that we won and filled the ds260 but we filled in her surname as the maiden name while we filled in my surname as her current surname since we have been able to register our marriage.
September 12, 2017 at 13:05
Make your question clear.
September 12, 2017 at 06:14
Maybe this is a stupid question one but I really want to know,Sir.
Are both green card and SSN card hard like an ATM card or thin soft like a cut paper?
Thank you
September 12, 2017 at 13:05
HARD plastic
September 12, 2017 at 17:41
My social security card issued back in the 90’es is made of paper, and I have never seen a hard plastic social security card. Are you positively sure they started issuing plastic Social Security Cards? If you are, I will update my DS260 to say I want a new Social Security card issued!
September 12, 2017 at 17:53
Sorry – I should be more clear. The GC is plastic, the SSN is paper.
September 12, 2017 at 06:52
Hi Brit
My uncle has prepared Form I-134 to sponsor us. My question is, does my uncle have to lodge Form I-134 with US Immigration for approval first or can I just take the Form I-134 to embassy without it filed for approval when my case number is scheduled for interview? I read somewhere that Petitioner for Form I-864 has to file for approval first. Does this apply to Form I-134 also?
Thank you
September 12, 2017 at 13:04
No – just take it to the interview (with proof of income and ID)
September 13, 2017 at 06:23
thank you so much for your reply.

September 12, 2017 at 08:33
Hi,
We are DV2017 winners (2017EU13XXX), we were interviewed on August 2nd. Wife and Kid were issued a visa on August and already got their passports back, I was put to AP until yesterday because of TAL.
So today the consular called me and told that my case finished AP and was approved but my number that was saved for me in August was given to someone else because each month they get a new batch of numbers only valid for that month. So they asked for a new number for me.
Can I rest assure that because DV2017 in Europe is current there are enough numbers for all, and I will get a number?
Thanks
September 12, 2017 at 13:02
No, it looks like visas are almost exhausted for DV2017. Since Friday I am starting to get reports of people in situations like yours where they are being told there are no more visas. Your embassy might have some visas available from other cases that get refused in this month, but otherwise, there is significant risk that you will not get a visa.
September 13, 2017 at 08:25
Just wanted to let you know that they called me and said that they managed to get a number for me and my GC is issued.
Thanks for all the moral help!

B. DIVERSITY IMMIGRANT (DV) CATEGORY FOR THE MONTH
OF OCTOBER
Section 203(c) of the INA provides up to 55,000 immigrant visas each fiscal year to permit additional immigration opportunities for persons from countries with low admissions during the previous five years. The NACARA stipulates that beginning with DV-99, and for as long as necessary, up to 5,000 of the 55,000 annually-allocated diversity visas will be made available for use under the NACARA program. This resulted in reduction of the DV-2018 annual limit to 50,000. DV visas are divided among six geographic regions. No one country can receive more than seven percent of the available diversity visas in any one year.
For October, immigrant numbers in the DV category are available to qualified DV-2018 applicants chargeable to all regions/eligible countries as follows. When an allocation cut-off number is shown, visas are available only for applicants with DV regional lottery rank numbers BELOW the specified allocation cut-off number:
RegionAll DV Chargeability Areas Except Those Listed Separately AFRICA8,500Except:

very slow processing!!! for asia last year they covered 2500 for the first month of Oct. now its nov and still they will process 1750!
September 12, 2017 at 12:55
No – they did not “cover 2500” last year – the backlog gave a false effect. Calm down, read this.

September 12, 2017 at 10:26
Nov vb has released
September 12, 2017 at 12:25
Hi Brit
The VB was published for NOVEMBER and I observe that unlike other years in the region of SA, the calls have been low, in previous years began calling from the number 400 and for this year began for 190 for October and 325 for November , you will know the reason?, and you think this will continue during the process or you think they will grow stronger during the next months.
also I observe that in previous years they began with a higher number, but later they were reducing the amount of call during the fiscal year, you think that for this year may be different?
and finally for you the DV2018 of the Region of SA, looks more like DV2014 or DV 2015
Thx

September 12, 2017 at 13:22
I mean we use my wife’s maiden name to apply for dv lottery last year because as at then we had not registered our marriage but when filling the ds260 form we use her new surname and used her former surname as the maiden name because we finally registered the marriage before filling ds260 form. Am asking if this could be a problem?
September 12, 2017 at 13:38
Normally that would be OK.
September 12, 2017 at 14:21
Case number: Eu 55xx. My sponsor is traveling to my country ( Albania) in 2 weeks. Do u think he should bring the affidavit of support when he comes, or should I wait until I get my interview date and then tell him to mail it?
Your support is greatly appreciated
September 12, 2017 at 14:31
Hello Brit
It is wonderful for not receiving yet the letter of appointment for final interview against Dv 017 ( case no 2017AS4255 Nepal at present in USA )
What may be the correct reason Brit ?
September 12, 2017 at 14:42
Hi Brit,
Thank you for all the valuable information that you have been providing to all of us. My question here is about the address change in US.
The US address which I used on DS 260 is going to change withing a month. By seeing your blog and the trends of getting the 2NLs, I have enough time to unlock and change it. My case number is 2018AS00003xxx. The address which I used is belongs to my close relative but now they are planning to move somewhere else, do you think its better to change the new address or I can keep as it is (the old one)?
My relative replied me, it doesn’t matter because the address change in US is very common and it can be changed during interview or before coming to US.
Please advise me what will be the best solution.
Thank you.
September 12, 2017 at 16:10
Change the address at the interview.
September 12, 2017 at 16:50
Thank you for your prompt response.
September 12, 2017 at 16:15
Dear Brit,
When your case number is current, how could you know if it is processed by KCC or not, so that I should expect 2NL.
Thanks a lot
September 12, 2017 at 16:28
The best way is to exercise some patience and just wait for the 2NL.
September 12, 2017 at 16:31
Well noted dear , thanks a lot 🙂
September 12, 2017 at 16:33
2017 dv is over right
September 12, 2017 at 16:36
It ends September 30th.
September 12, 2017 at 16:48
I mean to say 7501 case number is ended now their is no chance to reopen right
September 12, 2017 at 16:59
No, none.
September 12, 2017 at 16:22
Hi Simon. I submitted my ds260 at the end of July and current for November interview. But it is at kcc while I have checked the status. Sir what do you think, will I get 2nd notification letter for November. I want to know that, help me pls. Many thanks sir, I ‘m from Ethiopia.
September 12, 2017 at 16:28
Wait and see.
September 12, 2017 at 16:44
Hi Simon,
Do you have a special access to information at KCC. The reason I ask is that you are asertering that the slow movement in the VB numbers is due to implementing a new logical system of processing 1000 applications at a time. That definitely shd be more than a guess?
September 12, 2017 at 17:04
That part is not new. It’s an explanation of how the process has worked for years. The new bit is how they process DS260s – giving priority (to an extent) to lower case numbers to reduce the backlog waiting times.
September 12, 2017 at 16:54
Hi Simon
1. What do you think will be the highest number for 2018AF by july?
September 12, 2017 at 16:57
I don’t know.
September 12, 2017 at 16:57
Hello,
I am a selectee from EU000011XXX.
I currently live in the UK but plan to move to Dubai for a couple of months (up to 12 months)
1. Could this delay the process of my application?
2. How do I update my move in order to get to be interviewed in Dubai’s US embassy?
Thanks a lot in advance.
September 12, 2017 at 17:05
1. Possibly a little
2. Unlock and update your DS260 as soon as you know the AD address.
September 12, 2017 at 16:58
Good day brit please I have questions if I play as a citizen of a country then the country devides into two and the other part gains it’s independence and now in a new name and flag does that affect me from being eligible if I find myself in the new just created country e.g say I am in spain and won as a spain national then catalonia gers it’s independence and I become now a catalonian, does it affect my quest for a visa which I won like a spain national? ??
September 12, 2017 at 17:09
No.
September 12, 2017 at 17:23
Thanks very much brit,I was beginning to fear that if seperation comes I lose my chance
September 12, 2017 at 17:34
Hello, Brit
What should I answer to the question “Have you lived anywhere other than this address since the age of sixteen?”. I’ve been to summer schools couple of times and lived there for 3 weeks at a time. Do those count?
The help note that accompanies the question says this: “Previous addresses should only include those addresses at which you established a residence (for example on campus housing where you lived for an academic term at your college or university) and should not include places at which you were temporarily present (for example a hotel at which you stayed for vacation)”.
September 12, 2017 at 17:35
3 weeks is like a vacation stay.
September 12, 2017 at 17:39
Thank you 🙂
September 12, 2017 at 17:37
Also,
should I update the application in case I change my workplace, graduate from the university or my current workplace changes it’s office address?
Thank you very much in advance!
September 12, 2017 at 18:15
Hi Brit
I apologize for the inconvenience but I have a question, I made a mistake when filling out my eDV, since at my level of education, I am studying higher education (diplomaed in Marketing), which can be interpreted as Post-graduate, but my academic level is Engineer with diplomaed in Marketing, however when I fill my DS-260, I put my level of education with university degree, you think that incongruence can affect me.
September 12, 2017 at 18:20
No
September 12, 2017 at 18:21

September 13, 2017 at 00:05
Hello Brit,
Are you happier living in the US than in the UK ? I’m European and thinking if move to America is going to be real upgrade to quality of my live. I think only people who believe in American dream are new immigrants and it can be very tricky. DV2018 ‘winner’.
September 13, 2017 at 00:47
That’s a tough question. I was “doing well” in the UK.the USA has meant a step backwards to go forward. Ultimately, I did it for my wife and daughter.
September 13, 2017 at 01:20
Hey britis
I am winner from nepal and recently current my case in these visa bulletin . When I login in ceac but my name shows two applicant .
1= Dipendra iv application ( status )= completed
2= Dipendra (status)= start now
But I filled just one in my ds 260 form .
Is this create problem ?
If yes then how to remove 2nd applicant name ???
September 13, 2017 at 01:51
Ignore the second case. It’s something that happens when cases are scheduled.
September 13, 2017 at 01:46
I am in the last year of high school. Can I apply in the next lottery, if i can what to write in the field of education
September 13, 2017 at 01:52
Yes, just enter the truth. It makes no difference what you enter.
September 13, 2017 at 03:32
Hiii Brit, I’m asking which form should I fill when applying for the Greencard, am yet to move to the State.is it the Form I-90? or some other form, am having difficulties deciding, since the site say you should fill the 1-90 form when you are either replacing or renewing a permanent resident card…and I am applying for one
September 13, 2017 at 03:55
It depends on the nature of your case. It is not something I advise on.
September 13, 2017 at 04:04
Hello Simon,
Do you have any information regarding the capacity of US embassy in Kathmandu Nepal how many DV winners can be interviewed in one month ? Generally, How many days in a week are allocated (separated) for DV winners interview ?
September 13, 2017 at 04:36
About 200 cases per month
September 13, 2017 at 04:09
Hello Simon,
I just entered the US for my activation trip. Is it still possible to get my greencard sent to a different address than the one provided at the airport of entry?
September 13, 2017 at 04:35
Almost certainly not.
September 13, 2017 at 05:04
Hi Simon;
I was DV 2017 winner and I already entered to USA since July 8,2017 However,I applied green card fee $220 since may 13,2017 but yet I didn’t got my green card.why? How can I get it?

Hello Brit,
Should I update the application in case I change my workplace, graduate from the university or my current workplace changes it’s office address? Also, how meticulously should one specify the addresses of the educational institutions, workplaces, etc.. Does it even matter?
Thank you very much in advance!
September 13, 2017 at 13:35
Update significant changes.
100% accuracy is not essential on old addresses etc
September 13, 2017 at 08:55
Halo brit.
Since i am qualifying through high school education,
1.will this affect my visa qualification criteria if in my DS260 i still enter about my current employment which does not require 2years of training?
2. Since i want to be honest in my application, in the DS260 employment section should i fill my employment status as ’employed’ yet i am qualifying through high school education or they CO will ask me during the interview which method am qualifying through? Thanks in advance, God bless!

Dear Simon,
Thank you for this blog and useful information regarding Dv process.
I am Dv 2018 selectee, EU33xxx.
I have a question about address into Ds260 form.
Before one year I moved to another city (same country) for work, so according our legal requirements I needed to change the address in my identity card, but not in the passport. So I have different addresses in my passport and identity card. In Ds260 form I’ve add passport address as present address, and identity card address as Optional Address (line 2). What is your opinion, should I unlock ds260 form and change it, i.e. put the identity card address as present, and passport address as other address where I lived before, or leave it as it is?
Thank you very much in advance.

Present address should be where you live now. Just that…
