Hi Brit. For a financial proof I’m thinking to find affidavit support but I’m curious about how much salary my sponsor should make in a year to be sufficient one for me. The sponsor has a wife and son.

Hello Simon,
I was born in Cameroon. In mid 2016, I acquired Chilean Citizenship (Cameroon does not allow double nationality, so I technically lost my Cameroonian citizenship). I do understand that we have to apply the DV with our country of birth. But since I had the new nationality, I did apply with the new citizenship and got selected.
My question: could I be disqualified during interview because I applied with my adopted Nationality and not my origina nationality?
thank you
September 18, 2017 at 03:56
If you were born in Cameroon, you should have an AF region number. If you actually have an SA region number, you will be disqualified, UNLESS you were married to a Chilean before the eDV entry.

Dear Brit,
My wife got selected in the dv 2018 program. We got married after the result was announced. While filling my form I forgot to include a address where I lived for about 6 months. Do I need to unlock the DS260 form to include my address? Thanks
September 18, 2017 at 04:37
Your call. Accuracy is better, but as a derivative, it isn’t too important.
September 18, 2017 at 06:03
Hello brat
how I can know that the kcc has received my ds 260
Thanks
September 18, 2017 at 16:48
If it says completed, they have it.
September 18, 2017 at 08:03
Dear Brit,
Do I normally get an automated response from KCC on Saturdays & Sundays? I emailed them regarding a change to my DS 260 on Saturday but haven’t got an automated response.
Thanks
September 18, 2017 at 16:42
The automated response is automated. Therefore works 7 days a week.
September 18, 2017 at 10:07
Hi BritSimon,
Q1: My case is at KCC and I am a derivative. When I filled in the home address, I missed out the house number in it. Should I unlock my case?
Q2: Up to now, I lived in a different country for about 6 months for a training, should I unlock to add one more address? Do I need a police certificate for it since I will never go to that country again?
Best regards.
Pisey.
September 18, 2017 at 16:39
1. Yes
2. Yes unlock. No police cert needed
September 18, 2017 at 12:00

Hello Brit, I was selected in DV 2018 my family and I and our interview is now in November, one of our children is an American citizen but I added it in the format of 260, my question is: Will you pay for all the paperwork? same as laboratory studies? carry the same process as us? thanks for your help!!!.
September 18, 2017 at 16:37
The citizen child does not need to go through any of the visa process or medicals.
September 18, 2017 at 14:35
Hello Simon, I am a DV2018 winner. I applied in September last year and my son (which I included as derivate together with my husband) got his 21th birthday two months later, in November. Now, when I will get my interview at the consolate and assuming all is ok, I got different point of views about the legibility of my son to come with me and my husband to the States, questions:
1. will he get the interview together with us?
2. most important, will he be eligible to get the green card cause his date of Birth?
Thanks very much,
Maria
September 18, 2017 at 16:35
It sounds like he has aged out already, in which case he will not get the Green Card. It is a very lengthy process to sponsor a child over the age of 21.

Hi Brit, please assist with 2 questions. 1. Can we use photos taken in October 2017 and used for DV2018 entry for DS260 filled in May 2018?; 2. There’re 4 clear unused pages left in principal passport, is there any regulations on this regard?
September 18, 2017 at 19:45
1. Yes
2. None that I am aware of.
September 18, 2017 at 20:47
Hello Brit!
First of all let me thank you so much for this detailed information you offer! It was that eye opening and getting really informed for me! Thanks a lot for your great support!
Have some questions on getting a permanent Visa – but not willing to wait for DV 2019.
I met my US-husband (we are not married yet – due to just starting process of getting divorced from my German husband – which will be finished not before 08sep18) and we are planning to settle to stay rest of our life together. Due to the separation time in Germany to get divorced K1 and K3 are not working for me. As well a employee-send visa or business invest will not work.
I know that directly open tell the wish to settle in US is more or less undesired from GOV. Could you please advise what would be the best possibility to be able to settle asap? Also not regarding which visa -. but on the interview may I kindly ask you to what tell on the interview when being asked about? Because all other than telling open-hearted that I want to settle – would be a lie… Also do I have to directly bring documents like certificate of conduct and so on to the interview?
Like mentioned – the only wish is to be able to settle asap. But really unsure what kind of visa should be selected… And also – is nevertheless – it is much too long timeframe – would joining the DV2019 have some bad influence of other kind of visa?
Please be so kind to think over for me and try to help out. I’m really in need to have an real expert looking forward.
Appreciate your help and effort!
Kind regards from Germany
Regina Braunecker
September 18, 2017 at 20:54
I only focus on DV lottery. Entering the lottery will not be a problem to any other visa application.
September 18, 2017 at 22:18
Hello brit

thank you
September 18, 2017 at 23:23
1. No problem.
September 18, 2017 at 23:24
Hi Simon,
1) Our DS-260 was submitted listing our visits to the USA accurately to date of submission. However, we live in Canada, right at the border, so we’ve popped over for dinner/shopping a couple of times since submission. I didn’t really think about it until now. Is there any need to unlock and update now, and then each time we cross for short trips, or do they factor in the DS-260 submission date when performing their background/accuracy checks?
2) Along the same lines, if we do a trip for 1-2 weeks over Christmas, should we unlock and update even though the timing will very likely be encroaching upon our expected 2NL call (using your past data as a guide)? I absolutely do not want to delay our case. I would sooner avoid the trip this year.
Thanks!
September 18, 2017 at 23:39
1. No need to update.
2. No need to update.
September 19, 2017 at 05:54
I am winner DV2018. But I am not sure if my case number will be open for interview (EU39000). Can I apply for DV2019 ? I do not want to duplicate anything and risk my DV2018 process
September 19, 2017 at 16:52
No problem.

Hello Simon,
I am DV EU winner and my ESTA visa is expired, will this be a problem if I renew it to travel to united states on vacation even though I am selectee ?
regards,
Daril
September 19, 2017 at 16:44
Normally no. Just be very careful to answer all questions carefully.
September 19, 2017 at 13:42
Dear Simon,
I am a DV 2018 lottery winner. I have completed my online DS260 form but not yet submitted because I dont know whether I should fill and submit my wife’s DS260 form too though she is not immigrating with me at this time.
Give me an advice please.
September 19, 2017 at 16:43
The DS260 is a immigration application. If your spouse is not going with you, there is no need to have a DS260 for her. However, you should be aware that sponsoring her later will take around 2 years.
September 20, 2017 at 09:10
Thanks Simon. What about If I fill the DS-260 for her so that she could attend the interview with me, but later she didn’t make it on time, will that create a problem?
Kind regards
September 20, 2017 at 13:24
She won’t get the visa.

Hi britsimon when do you think I can be expecting an interview. My case number is 2018AF31267. Thank you
September 19, 2017 at 16:41
I don’t have a prediction. Wait and see.
September 19, 2017 at 15:27
Hi, Brit:
I wrote KCC about my status change, but this was their respond to me.
Thank you for your inquiry.
Please forward a completed G-28 for case number 2018AF000xxxxx
along with your request. After KCC receives a completed G-28 along with the Principal Applicant’s required information, we will be able to assist you with your inquiry.
My question is: what KCC means by G-28.
September 19, 2017 at 16:41
The G-28 is to do with being represented by a lawyer. Something about your request made them think you were not the principal selectee.
September 19, 2017 at 15:55
Hi,
I’m a DV2 green card holder. I would like to know if I can apply to citizenship or my legal status is affected if I get divorced of my husband DV1, or how long do we need to be married after we enter the US? We’ve lived in the US for 6 months now.
Thanks in advance.
September 19, 2017 at 16:39
Your Green Card is not conditional on marriage. The only issue you might run into is if there were to be a suspicion of the marriage being a sham to get a GC. During citizenship process, they have the right to re-examine that aspect of your GC status.
September 19, 2017 at 16:36
Hi, Thank you for giving approximate case numbers of 2018 for each continent. I would be thankful if you could help me to find out approximately biggest case number of 2018 for Uzbekistan only.
September 19, 2017 at 18:43
I have no way to know that.
September 19, 2017 at 17:23
ooo… yes ,I am helping someone to fill their Ds 260 form, but I do not have the G 28 KCC is asking for so what can I do?
September 19, 2017 at 17:33
Get the G-28 or tell them to help themselves.
September 19, 2017 at 19:05
Dear Brit,
I am a derivative of my wife. I wanted to change some details on my DS 260 form so my wife emailed KCC to unlock the form. But they just unlocked my wife’s form. My form is not unlocked. Is that normal?
September 19, 2017 at 20:13
It’s normal if you don’t CLEARLY explain which forms you want unlocked.
September 19, 2017 at 19:51
Hi Brit!
A few days ago, I wrote to KCC to ask if our forms have completed processing and they said yes. They said it has completed processing and is pending interview scheduling. They also said it cannot be unlocked. We filled our ds260 form without our passports and now we have the passports. We submitted our ds260 forms on June 5th with case number. 2018AF6xxx.

September 20, 2017 at 01:28
HI,i am dv 2018 visa applicante, my educatinal document shows that i graduate 12 years high school when i was 14 years old, according to my birth certificate, and it is true, my question is that does CO may not trust my age, ? may be wrong on birth year, on birth certificate
September 20, 2017 at 01:40
Well someone who had graduated year 12 at 14 would probably have gone on to extensive further education, and some sort of career using that intelligence. So – if that is the case, the “story” would be corroborated by those other circumstances.
September 20, 2017 at 01:48
Hi Brit can getting or applying for public benefits like cash affect my status as a greencard holder
September 20, 2017 at 01:52
THey can affect a later citizenship application.
September 20, 2017 at 13:58
I get it for my child who is a citizen because she was born here, will it be counted on me during citizenship application??
September 20, 2017 at 15:28
I don’t know.
September 20, 2017 at 06:16
Hi Brit,
my passport has my birthplace mentioned as ‘A’ city of Nepal. But I have birth certificate of ‘B’ city of Nepal.
I have a query. Does that affect or should I make another birth certificate mentioning ‘A’ city?
Thank u so much for all your help till now, Brit
September 20, 2017 at 13:29
Doesn’t matter. Both are in Nepal.
September 20, 2017 at 08:44
HI , according to my birth certificate and passport my educational document shows that i graduated from high school(12 years) when i was 14 years old, in 1991 at the end of the civil war the government ordered high school students to military cumps, at that time my parents registered my birth date like 4 years minus and they managed to take me out of the cump using the birth certificate.so still now i use this birth certificate which has 4 years minus than my actual birth date i never register before . my question is that do i need affidavit of birth from my parents? do you think that the affidavit helps. i am dv 2018 visa applicant from ethiopia
September 20, 2017 at 13:25
I don’t know what will help. You must just be honest at the interview.
September 20, 2017 at 09:31
We have the case number 20XXX for the DV2018 in Europe, when possibly could our case number be scheduled for the interview? Are there chances to be “out of range” due to slower case number current during the first months?
September 20, 2017 at 12:59
You will get interviewed. I don’t have a prediction for when. Patience.
September 20, 2017 at 09:55
Brits sir am back again kindly dont get tired of helping me.you reffered me to read on reprocity page for saudi arabia. To be sincere sir have read more than 3times but l cant understand anything..kindly l beg you to help me on that case of my husband.he has worked for 4 yrs with almarai company but he has been coming for vacation after every year.kindly tell me if he needs the police certificate.am from kenya.thanks
September 20, 2017 at 10:01
if your husband still holds a valid residency visa or Iqama then he must get a police certificate and it takes 4-8 weeks to process. If he cancelled from there and he no longer lives in KSA then he is NOT required to obtain a police certificate.
September 20, 2017 at 10:27
wen do u think is ma interview schedule? i submitted my ds260 on 30th aug 2017
September 20, 2017 at 12:55
I don’t know.
September 20, 2017 at 10:34
Hello brit sir i am planning to travel 2 week prior to my expiry of DV visa (jan 2018 1st week). Can i pay green card fee after entering US or it should be paid before entering US?
if i paid now may be green card will be sent to given address with in 2 month but i will be travelling after 3-4 months, will it cause any problem?
AND one hypothetical question if suppose war breaks out between north korea and US ,Can US forbid me (valid visa holder)to travel us…sorry to ask this silly question
I want to travel after completion of my bachelor degree in late december 2017 but my friends and relative are suggesting me to travel early because of ongoing tension between US and north korea b
September 20, 2017 at 12:54
You can pay before or after arrival.
The GC will be sent to the address you gave. Someone will hold it for you, I assume.
Are you North Korean?
September 20, 2017 at 13:03
Haha. Surely from Nepal.
September 20, 2017 at 11:56
i win DV lottery 2018, my interview in early October, my country is affected by supreme court ban, however i have bona fide relationship with IMA (institute of management accountants – USA firm), i registered as student since May,16,2016, even before i apply for DV lottery, the travel ban exempts people with bona fide relationship with US entity, please guide me what kind of letters/documents that i can ask IMA to provide so i can present to the USA embassy consular to prove the bona fide relationship as i want to peruse my study and exams in USA
September 20, 2017 at 12:48
Ar the moment the travel ban is due to end before FV2018 starts. So – no need to think about this for now.
September 20, 2017 at 13:31
Good morning sir! I am DV-2017 winner (doing AOS), already got my approval notice( I was approved on 08/31/2017), but still waiting for GC. I wrote to the TSC an email and got this response –
” Based on your inquiry, we have reviewed the status of your case and found that it remains under active examination. This office acknowledges the completion of your case being outside of the normal processing time and realizes the inconvenience it may cause. The delay has been necessary in order to ensure thorough processing of your case.
Unfortunately, we are unable to provide you with a definitive timeframe at this point. USCIS will notify you if any further information is needed from you or when a decision has been made.
We hope this information is helpful. We appreciate your patience.”
I really do not get what they are examining if I have been approved and my visa was requested on 31 of August.
Should I request case assistance from Senator or Obmundsman , or I have to wait and be patient?
Thanks in advance!

Hi Brit,
my case is in AP now more than 5 months and no answer.
by the end of the septembre what will happen to my case?
and do I have any chance to get a visa?
Im a Dv winner 2017 forn Iran.
September 20, 2017 at 15:29
I’m sorry to say you are unlikely to get the visa as places have run out.
September 20, 2017 at 14:06
Amjad
Dear Simon,
A friend who is a winner of DV 2017 passed the interview and his visa is approved but the administrarive processing is still going on. he is so worried because after september there will be no visas. I wan,t to contact them give me the emaile pleaaaaaaaaase. they may speed the process if i send an email. Will they send a visa after september or not? thank you.
September 20, 2017 at 14:12
He cannot do anything but wait. There is significant risk because visas have run out. A case completing AP will only get a visa IF the embassy has refused another case and has a visa available from that case.
September 20, 2017 at 16:52
Thank you very much. Can he get it after september if a visa is refused to someone and given to him?
September 20, 2017 at 17:04
No
September 20, 2017 at 14:09
Good morning Brit
Thank you for all the good you do. Providing your time and expertise for all this people you have relation to but simply for the goodness of your heart.
I have a question. My brother is 2017 DV winner and he went through all the process and his case was on AP for about six months. They issued him a VS on August 25th and we got him a ticket for September 26 but then we realized the visa expiration date was August 21st. He returned to get it fixed they requested medical and he returned that to them but now they said visa is limited and they have stopped issuing visas. What can we do. Please. thank you very much.
September 20, 2017 at 14:13
I don’t think there is anything he can do.
September 20, 2017 at 14:36
Hello BritSimon i was denial lottery visa, based on secondary education but i was having it with me . The woman who took my documents said i should keep it when he ask of it then present it to him. But the man did not ask of it but said am not qualify for the Visa. So please what should i do to get the Visa? since am having the secondary school certificate
September 20, 2017 at 15:38
THere is no appeal process. I don’t know why you were refused, but the refusal is final.
September 20, 2017 at 16:07
what actually did he say….what was the actual cause of the denail?
September 20, 2017 at 15:34

September 20, 2017 at 17:00
I don’t understand the problem.
September 20, 2017 at 16:28
Hi Brit Simon.
I am a DV2018 winner. I just received 2NL with interview details for November 2018. I noticed that they excluded my wife’s name on the 2NL. We were married on August 2017 so I unlocked the DS260 form I submitted in May 2017 and included her as my derivative. What should I do?
September 20, 2017 at 17:03
That is normal when you add a derivative later. After a few days contact the embassy to see if they are expecting both of you.
September 20, 2017 at 16:34
I wanted to say for the diploma is not the bac is my university license
