Hello Brit!
I’m the principal applicant and I have completed my DS form since June, and I filled the information about my work since then. Now I’ve been offered a different position in the same company (same workplace, same address, same employer).
Should I unlock and update the change of position even though it’s within the company, and it’s basically a “promotion”?
September 25, 2017 at 20:43
No need.
September 25, 2017 at 20:47
Hi Dear brother, have question for you . I’m from Ethiopia.my case no.is 2018AF00009***
My birth date passport and brithday certificate are the same but my brith date on education documents are date and month not the same with passport and birthday certificate . what can I do please? , Second when expire date of DV 2018 to fill out dv260
September 25, 2017 at 21:11
The most important thing is that the birth cert, passport and DS260 all have the same date. You may not be able to to match with the education cert – but then the task for you is to prove that YOU are the person who earned the education.
September 25, 2017 at 21:59
When does ds 260 DV lottery 2017 and 2018 form online is close?
September 25, 2017 at 22:12
DV2017 is almost over. DV2018 is just about to start, and DV2019 will have the entry period starting next week.
September 25, 2017 at 22:27
Does foriengn state chargeable means the country u applied from or the country you where born
September 25, 2017 at 22:33
Born.
September 25, 2017 at 22:47
So assuming you where in England and you now live in Ghana … Which place will be chargeble to your dv lottery
September 25, 2017 at 22:50
If you were ** BORN IN ** England you would be ineligible to participate in the lottery – unless you had married someone from an eligible country (such as Ghana).
September 27, 2017 at 20:53
What if I am from an eligible country such as Cameroon, but I decided to play DV as an Argentinian (because I became a citizen and my wife is from Argentina). I was selected as AS*****. Can that disqualify me? Since my country of birth was eligible to participate but chose to participate with my new nationality? (note that my country of birth does not accept double nationality hence the reason I chose Argentina.)
September 27, 2017 at 20:57
Correction! I was selected as SA***** not AS as mention in my previous mail.
September 27, 2017 at 21:14
I already answered you about this same question 9 days ago. Although then you claimed to be Chilean.

I was just citing an example.. but assuming lemme say I was born in Burkina and now live in Ghana which country will be chargeble

Hello
I am from Libya
I have won the Cardinal Card 2018
Digital 21000
Does Trump’s new decision prevent me from traveling?
September 25, 2017 at 23:10
Yes probably. Unless things change, you will not be able to be approved.
September 26, 2017 at 00:41
Hello
I am from Libya but I stay in USA since 2015 and I won the lottery 2018. I want to know if the Trump’s decision includes us or just mean prevent the diversity visa to the people who stay outside of the country?
September 26, 2017 at 00:58
The order applies to entries of people outside the USA. If you are already here, the order does not apply to you.
September 26, 2017 at 03:07
Thank you
September 26, 2017 at 01:20
I won rhe dc 2018 and I am in USA now so I need to adjust status . Am I affected?
September 26, 2017 at 01:30
* the dv 2018
September 26, 2017 at 02:46
No. Not as long as you are eligible to adjust status (which means being in status on a temporary visa)
September 26, 2017 at 02:08
Dear Simon,
Can I enter USA (landing) through land port of entry (Canadian-US land borders) not through airport?

September 26, 2017 at 02:45

September 26, 2017 at 11:13
HI,
I’m living in China with my family (my husband and son). Our interview is scheduled to october 10, 2017 at U.S. Consulate General Guangzh.
The problem is, My husband’s visa to stay in China has expired, he filed his passport to renew his visa to Chinese immigration but the date to retrieve his passport to the police is October 20, 2017. Is it possible for him to pass the interview without his passport?
September 26, 2017 at 11:50
Yes. They will put his case (or the whole family) on hold until he produces his passport.
September 26, 2017 at 11:49
Hi Brit,
I hope your doing great so far.
I am one of the DV winners for this year 2018 and I am holding a Yemeni passport, although I have ever been there and my place of birth is Saudi Arabia.
However, I am wondering now with the new procliamation made by president Donald Trump if it would affect the DV winners as the suspension is impacting Tourist (B1) and Business (B2) and immigrants.
Thank you very much
September 26, 2017 at 12:30
DV cases are impacted by the new ban as described in the article below. Your case is not affected since you are charging to SA.
https://britsimonsays.com/old-travel-ban-expires-new-travel-ban-implemented/
September 27, 2017 at 05:36
Thanks Brit for your clarification.
but just to note that despite I am born in SA, I don’t have Saudi passport (only Yemeni passport).
September 26, 2017 at 14:00

September 26, 2017 at 14:16
Yes you can attend the interview in a country that is not your country of birth.
You can also attend the interview in a country that is not your country of residence – but there needs to be some reason for that.
September 26, 2017 at 14:08

September 26, 2017 at 14:51
Hi brit thanks for always attempting an answer to all our worries of the dv lottery,I just want to ask if the trump ban that involves some African countries would be able to boost the chances of others say with the high CNs if the ban is not removed, say does CN Af465** now stand a greater chance of an interview with this bans
September 26, 2017 at 16:02
I discussed that in this article.
https://britsimonsays.com/old-travel-ban-expires-new-travel-ban-implemented/
September 26, 2017 at 15:07
Dear Simon,
DV2018 winner EU, DS260:
Schools (institution) names should be in my native language or translated to English ? For instance my university also has official english name but high school does not. Should I translate the name of my high school to english language than ? What would be more correct ?
Thank you so much
September 26, 2017 at 16:03
Don’t overthink this. Just decide.
September 26, 2017 at 15:25

September 26, 2017 at 16:07
I don’t know. No one knows. And since you can’t be bothered to read anything about it, you will understand that less than most people.
September 26, 2017 at 15:34
SORRY simon i am back to u ,may i confused u, what i mean is separately me in other country and my family also in other country .
THANKS.
September 26, 2017 at 16:14
You need to attend the interview together as a family.
September 26, 2017 at 16:04
Hi Simon,
Thank you for your help.
I am one of the dv lottery winners for 2018
My nationality is syrian but i was born in saudi arabia (country of chargeability). Will the new restrictions affect my case?
For the record, my husband holds a lebanese nationality, but i am the main applicant. Would that be of any help for me?
September 26, 2017 at 17:11
You are not affected.
September 26, 2017 at 18:13
According to what i am not ?
September 26, 2017 at 19:14
“i was born in saudi arabia”
September 26, 2017 at 19:23
-Okay i was born in saudi arabia but i don’t have a saudi passport.
-So they look at the country of chargeability not the nationality ?
September 28, 2017 at 09:02
I am wondering the same as my case as yours but with different nationality :S
Thanks Simon for your help
September 28, 2017 at 22:30
We should not be affected since we are chargeable to another country.
Mr simon can you clarify for us please?
Thank you for your help
September 28, 2017 at 22:51
I emailed KCC – their reply was not helpful.
DV is “based on” country of chargeability and normally place of birth. But the new ban talks of “nationals of” the affected countries. Frankly – it is not clear for those cases whether they will use country of birth, country of citizenship or chargeability. I will keep trying to clarify that.
October 3, 2017 at 10:55
I am reading your comments and checking this thread daily as if you are the decision maker for our strange case 😀
I hope everything turn out well
September 26, 2017 at 16:07
hallo brit , ope u are doing well there is this question consular normally ask about (what you intend to do in the US? ) does one answer as what one indicated in the ds 260?
because my cousin won 2015 dv she was asked what she intended to do, she said she was going to study accounts the consular said there are good institutions teaching accounts, waiting for ur feedback
September 26, 2017 at 16:14
hallo brit above questions about my cousin was denied a visa because she was told here in Kenya there are good institutions that teaches accounts. Help me understand
September 26, 2017 at 16:16
I don’t understand it myself – so I can’t help you understand it.
September 26, 2017 at 16:20
I think the photograph issue is not so critical since some people used the old pictures to apply and they won.In my view, what matters is that your identity should not be lost should in case you win. Some people find it difficult to get partners from far to send photographs and that why they send previous DV photos and they win.
September 26, 2017 at 16:27
Hello Brit! I am the winner of dv2018 with the case number EU102 **. I completed the form at the beginning of May. For my reasons, in the beginning of February I am out of my country, do you think that with this number I have I can have before the month of interview? Thank you very much to Brite for the feeling that gives us.
September 26, 2017 at 17:00
In two months they got to 4500. Until density lessens (after about 15XXX) the pace will remain about the same. So – you can work out roughly when your number will be current from that…
September 26, 2017 at 16:54
Dear Brit Simon,
I want to enter the US with my Immigration packet and pay the fees etc. and leave soon after to finish up business in my home country. I know my green card will arrive during my period away from the US. How would I be allowed back into the US without the green card if the temporary stamp in my passport is expired?
September 26, 2017 at 17:01
When you enter the first time your visa is endorsed and is then good for up to one year.
September 26, 2017 at 17:22
Hi Britsimons,
I won DV 2018 and already completed my DS 260, but i made a mistake on the issuance date of my diploma high school degree. i filled 07/06/2002 instead of 07/07/2002. So, should i unlock to do correct the mistake or is it possible to make the correction at my interview. My CN is AF39XXX.
September 26, 2017 at 19:28
It is not a problem. Just mention it at the interview.
September 27, 2017 at 09:42
Hi Britsimons. Thank you for your reply and have a good day.
September 26, 2017 at 17:30
Hi Simon,
My case number is 9498, when the interview will be? Thanks
September 26, 2017 at 19:28
I have no idea. I don’t even know which region you are in!
September 26, 2017 at 19:38
I’m citizen of Tajikistan but living in Ukraine
September 26, 2017 at 20:04
OK – well EU has taken 2 months to get to 4500. Expect the pace to remain about the same for a while.
September 26, 2017 at 21:46
When it wil be Approximately? On December or on February?
Thaks
September 27, 2017 at 00:06
You can guess as well as I can.
September 26, 2017 at 17:37
Hello Brit !!
I’m the winner of 2018 from Uzbekistan 2018EU4 ***!
I have a question, please help if you know.
I study at the third year of college, I will finish my studies on May 25, 2018 and receive a diploma.
Q1. Can I send the ds-260 form in April 2018 without waiting for the college to finish?
Q2. If yes, then how do you think how to tell me the Date of Attendance study on May 25, 2018.?
Q3. Will the visa officer consider this as sending incorrect data?
Thus, according to my calculations, I can get to the interview in July 2018 at that time I will already have a diploma.
September 26, 2017 at 19:27
1. Yes
2. It will be your CURRENT occupation.
3. No – see 2.
September 26, 2017 at 18:11
Good afternoon brit we were drawn in DV2018, our appointment is on November 1 at the embassy of Mexico Ciudad Juárez and we participate as children of parents Nicaragua, my question and concern is: if the appointment is on November 6, how many days do I have to stay in Ciudad Juarez since I live 36 hours from where I want to go to the appointment and I want to know by traveling in Airplane from Cancun that is where we live and I have to know the date of return to my city after the interview !! thanks brit
September 26, 2017 at 19:22
The passport is normally available within a week or two – but most embassies will arrange a courier to mail it to your in country home address.
About your chargeability – I think I should ask you some questions to make sure you are eligible. Reading between the lines you say “we” participated as children of Nicaraguan parents. That is possible OK – IF neither of your parents were born in Mexico, and were only in Mexico temporarily (usually because an employer sent them there for a temporary work reason. If you were born in Mexico and lived there all your life, it is harder to prove the temporary nature of their stay.
September 26, 2017 at 18:34
Hi,
I have a question I hope you can help me with.
My husband is the lottery winner. I went to the USA when I was a teenager two times. The first one as a tourist, for two months, and the second one, the year after, with a student visa, for ten months. I have asked my parents for my passport, but as it usually happens, they have no idea where it is. Well I have one ……. trash can. This happened almost 30 years ago.
I have to show that passport in the interview because it has the records of my entries and departures of those two years, but I don’t have it.
I have requested the FOIA a copy of my records of those two years but they have answered me saying they don’t exit. I wonder if I have asked for them to the wrong place.
At that time I was in highschool, so I can prove I didn’t stay longer because I have the official grades saying I completed the previous and after school years in my country. Could you please advise me what can I do?
September 26, 2017 at 19:14
Stop overthinking the whole thing. Just give the dates from your best estimate/recollection. It occurred 30 years ago – so they don’t really care.
September 26, 2017 at 19:21
You’re right. Thank you. It’s just that when we try to think about having everything ready, many doubts come to our mind.
September 26, 2017 at 20:39
Hello Brit,
I am F1 student from Nepal and I got selected for the Diversity Visa 2017. My case number is 73xx while the cut off for Nepal was 7450. I had my interview a week ago and the officer told me there are no visas available at that moment and Department of State would not issue visa after September 30. So, I just have like 4 days until 30th September. Have you ever had any cases like this that got denied after interview because of visa unavailability? I would appreciate your help. Thank you in advance.
September 26, 2017 at 21:26
Of course there are cases like that. Once the deadline is passed, it’s over.
September 26, 2017 at 21:52

I am on a pending asylum case, still I waiting for the USCIS asylum interview. i win the dv lottery 2018. can i adjust my status? I was f1 visa ,but it is not valid now , and I have only pending asylum.
September 27, 2017 at 00:43
If you were not out of status at any time – yes
September 27, 2017 at 01:01
But asylum pending is not a status I think .. correct me if I am wrong
September 27, 2017 at 01:19
Consult your attorney if you are unsure.
September 27, 2017 at 01:33
Hey brit!
First of all I qant to thank you for your help in few parts of my dv process. We have booked tickets for november 17. We already had a room booked but due to some problems the room isn’t available. Can you suggest me how can I find a room in irving, texas. Is there any way you can help in this part?
September 27, 2017 at 01:38
I don’t have any way to help. THe best thing to do is book an affordable hotel for the first week or two – then look for longer term accomodation while you are there.
September 27, 2017 at 03:05
Hi Simon! I won DV 2018. I applied for DV lottery October 2016 as a single for DV 2018 because I am single at that time. I married this year April 2017.
Q1. Can I fill or apply ds 260 form with my wife?
Q2. If can I apply how? I need your advice.
Thanks!
September 27, 2017 at 03:33
1. Yes
2. Yes
September 27, 2017 at 05:09
Hi, I’m already in the US through the visa lottery. However, I entered as single and without children, though i was married with 3 children. At the time of entry my family where not present with me and it was the last day so i entered as single without knowing that if married and you don’t declare it’s tantamount to disqualification. And because i did not want to miss the opportunity, I went through the process as single and got my visa.
Now the question is, do I have any window of opportunity to get my family in when I become a citizen?
September 27, 2017 at 05:12
Of course not. You obtained your Green Card through fraud. So – as soon as you reveal the fraud they can deport you.
September 27, 2017 at 05:28
I v a case number 2018Af000014899 but I vnt fill d forms yet but v opened it.. waiting for ma passport b4 I proceed will it cause any harm since I opened it without fill any gab… Cos was thinking it will show on dier system
September 27, 2017 at 05:32
No problem.
September 27, 2017 at 06:43

September 27, 2017 at 12:17

September 27, 2017 at 07:26

September 27, 2017 at 08:45
Dear simon. I have a friend who is a DV2017 winner. His interview date has passed last time. He did not attend his interview because he could not make to Addis Ababa embassy on time. last week he went to the embassy to arrange another interview for him but they told him they dont have anymore visa. so can he change the interview to Nairobi so that he can make it before sept 30.
Kind regards
September 27, 2017 at 11:40
No. He has thrown his life changing opportunity away. Amazing.
September 27, 2017 at 09:21
Hello Britt … Pls will they require all ma educational certificate
September 27, 2017 at 11:37
Yes. Obviously. Please use some judgement and common sense, please read the instructions, and please read the FAQs before you continue to ask such simple, obviously questions.
September 27, 2017 at 11:43
Hi Brits according to how l have read on your article are spouse academic certificate needed on interview?
September 27, 2017 at 12:22
Only the principal selectee needs to show academic documents.
September 27, 2017 at 12:50
Hi brit
I was interviewed for DV lottery on January 11 in 2017 in Abu Dhabi . The officer told me that the administrative process need three months. Unfortunately I have not received any e-mail update after 9 months .I sent several an email to the Abu Dhabi embassy and they answered that my immigration visa application is still undergoing administrative review.also I sent an e-mail to kcc and they told I should call with the United States Consulate/ Embassy of Abu Dhabi.
Anyone does not give me a clear answer. I am worried.
Therefore would you please help me. regarding to this matter that unfortunately the DV lottery deadline will be finished next 3 days. could you please guide me how can I take some information about my case?
Thank you,
Best
September 27, 2017 at 12:57
There is unlikely to be a good result for you.
Your case may still be in AP, but even if AP completes in the next few days, there are no visas left to assign to your case.
September 27, 2017 at 13:18
Unfortunately, the Embassy and kcc do not answer my email?
could you please guide me how can I take some information about my case?
Thanks
September 27, 2017 at 13:57
There is nothing that can be done. You just have to wait for the embassy to contact you.
