Hi Brit,
After submitting my DS-260 form, my old passport was due to expire in 5 months time. Now that I have renewed and had a new one, would it be necessary to request for unlock to update it or I can send the 2 during the interview.
October 16, 2017 at 12:00
@Augustine, if you ‘are not’ scheduled for interview at the moment, then I would advice u unlocked and fill in with the new Passport Number.
October 16, 2017 at 13:12
Unlocking and correcting is better.
October 16, 2017 at 12:26

Hi
Do all selectees need to have an affidavit form filled for the interview process even if they are financially secure?
If so which form is it and where can I find it?
Thank you
October 16, 2017 at 21:57
It varies case to case.

Dear Brit, I have got a son who was born on 16th of November 1996 and he isn’t married, can he be included in my application form for DV lottery 2019 as my child or he should fill out the form separately by himself.
October 16, 2017 at 13:39
He should be on yours as a derivative AND enter himself

Hi Simon ,
I’m Palestinian studying in Turkey and I will participate an exchange program next semester in Germany exactly in the end of Feb/2018 , according to my case number my interview will be in Feb. or Mart ( I don’t know exactly my case number start 2018AS43** ) , and the 2NL will be before that ,so when I will get the 2NL I have to start collecting my documents and my question is how I can be sure when exactly my interview will be so I can decide where I’m going to take the medical exam ? and what will happen If I choose Germany to get the interview and there is no time to get the medical exam there so i take it in Turkey !
October 16, 2017 at 13:38
As soon as you move, change the address. You’ll have to work this out and use your best judgement/common sense.
October 16, 2017 at 14:17
let’s say my interview in Germany in Mart.2018 so I will get the 2NL probably in Jan.2018 But I will be in Turkey that time and I can’t change the address after the 2NL and I don’t know where I will stay in Germany yet ! so
1. what I should do in this case ?
2. If I choose Germany to get the interview and there is no time to get the medical exam there so i take it in Turkey , will they accept it in Germany ?
October 16, 2017 at 15:27
1. Make your own plan using common sense.
2. No.
November 16, 2017 at 08:07
I reopened the DS260 to change the interview location , but it is not changeable and made some changes on the other fields and it was ok and I could save it but the interview location is not changeable ! how I supposed to change it ?
November 16, 2017 at 14:24
KCC change the embassy *if* you have a good reason (typically changing address).
October 16, 2017 at 13:29
Hello
My case number is 49.000 i want to know if i have chance to get interview or not? and the date of interview

October 16, 2017 at 13:36
You have to wait and see. It will be a long wait.
October 16, 2017 at 13:32
I AM A WINNER OF THE 2018 DIVERSITY VISA LOTTERY BUT CAN’T LOG IN THE DS260 FORM. IT SAY MY CASE NUMBER DO NOT MATCH ANY OF THE RECORD.
I REMOVED THE ZEROS AFTER THE AF IT NOT WORKING.
1. 2018AF000XXXXX = 2018AF000XXXXX NOT WORKING
2. 2018AF000XXXXX = 2018AFXXXXX NOT WORKING STAY
WHAT CAN I DO.
October 16, 2017 at 13:35
You probably have the wrong birthdate.
October 16, 2017 at 15:16
hi Brit,
can i submit an entry individually and being submitted as a child on my father’s entry i am under 21 but i meet the educational criteria
October 16, 2017 at 15:16
Yes
October 16, 2017 at 16:35
that will not count as a multiple entries and would be disqualified
October 16, 2017 at 16:20
Can I correct my DOB after receiving 2NL and before going for a visa interview, from the ceac website?
October 16, 2017 at 16:33
No. You should have entered the correct DOB on your DS260. Your only option after the 2NL is to contact the embassy prior to the interview OR discuss it in the interview.
October 16, 2017 at 16:21
Dear Britsimon
I will definitely donate after I get to usa but at the moment I have some many expenses. I wrote to my first entry single and no child however I have one child from divorced marriage. I was divorced when I did first entry of DV but I have child and I did not write to my first entry. I wrote my ex wife but I did not write my child to ds 260 form. Now because I did not write my child to ds 260 and I would like to update ds 260 and make it single and I don’t have any child. When us embassy call me for interview, they will see my divorce paper that I have child, that is why I want to update ds 260 for single. Can I do that? I want ds 260 and my first entry to be a same.
Thanks for answer. Did you understand my question?
I wish all the best to you and to your family for your kind job.
October 16, 2017 at 16:36
I understand your question. The problem is that you lied, and now you want to lie some more to cover up the first lie. This is immigration fraud, and is a very serious offence. My advice is to not proceed with your case.
October 16, 2017 at 16:38
Hi
I’m a 2018DV winner with case number Afxxx156 is this case number stand a better chance of sitting interview Nov or Dec???
October 16, 2017 at 16:44
It is 100% certain not to be in November or December. The VB for December interviews has been released and AF is current up to 10,000.
October 16, 2017 at 16:50
Meaning, hopefully it going to be next year
October 16, 2017 at 16:53
Saying it’s100 certain not to be in Dec or Nov what do u mean??I need understanding.
October 16, 2017 at 17:28
Your interview won’t be in November or December. As for when it will be – patience.
October 16, 2017 at 17:33
When will it be??will it be schedule this year?
October 16, 2017 at 17:36
I don’t know. Now – wait and see.
October 16, 2017 at 17:01

October 16, 2017 at 17:06
Hello brit, my sister is a dv2018 in iraq winner and she did her interview at yesterday 15 october, 2017 , the officer told her , he will put your case at AP . cuz she took national card instead of birth certificate , her education certificate need a stamped in baghdad , and she need a police certificate in baghdad (iam kurd ,just saying) . The officer took ds260 and 2 pic of her and her medical exam. He told my sister if you correct these mistak we will give you a visa . So do YOU think there is any hope for having visa or its just spending money for nothing . Pls answer im hopless
October 16, 2017 at 17:32
There is no reason you have told me that would stop a visa being issued. But – I don’t know the details of the case.
October 16, 2017 at 18:10
Thanks for the understanding
October 16, 2017 at 18:14

Hi Simon.i greatly salutes you for your committment on answering our questions tiressly thus making us understand the dv lottery processes and updates day by day.keep it up sir. Kindly I need your help on this question so that i can be mentally prepared.basing on the pace on which the interviews are availed to winners and Dec vb being around 10000 for AF, when do you think AF 34xxx can get an interview. With regards.
October 16, 2017 at 19:17
I don’t know. This is a test of patience – so now you must wait and see.
October 16, 2017 at 18:49
Dear Britt , I sent you an e-mail since couple days ago , me and my wife’s appointment was good and approved until i got an paper from the cargo and says need more information until they get the details our visas temporarily refused.. And when i checked the paper says “”Every family member who is involved in the visa application must make a passport receipt for himself / herself. Visit http://www.ais.usvisa-info.com for registration information.””
so my question is ,
I have created a single cargo account for myself and my wife. Is that the reason they need two cargo account for each of us and they cancel it for now when they got both?
Please help me i am totally confused… we can not handle what they need.
thanks
October 16, 2017 at 19:16
Ask the usvisa-info people to clarify.
October 16, 2017 at 20:15
One more question Dec vb being around 10000 for AF do this mean that only case numbers that are below 10000 that can be shedued for an interview as at Dec 2017?
October 16, 2017 at 23:10
Hi Britt how are you? Do you know something about this:
The United States Department of State (U.S.DOS) has announced that all registrations that were received for the lottery of visas between October 3 and 10 are canceled, the website had a problem.
The registration will be re-opened on October 18, 2017 and will run until noon on November 22, 2017.
ALL PREVIOUS REGISTERS ARE NULL!
It is recommended that those who have registered to destroy any confirmation numbers received to avoid confusion and re-register.
October 17, 2017 at 00:23
Hi – yes I was aware – I posted about that on Saturday. The main website was only updated today.
https://britsimonsays.com/dv2019-entry-period-restarted/
October 17, 2017 at 04:43
Hi Brit, hope you’re doing good!
My school certificates and college certificates have my name as Thivya K , but my office records are having my name as Thivya Kanagendran and am planning to apply for a passport with my complete last name/father’s name, thus am confused how to write my name in the dv lottery application either as in my certificates or as in office records and the way it is going to be written in the passport? Or should I also write Thivya K only in application as well as in passport?
Your inputs will be of great help.
Thanks.
October 17, 2017 at 04:47
Your correct legal name as shown on birth cert and passport.
October 17, 2017 at 05:00
My birth cert as Thivya K and am yet to get a passport, so should I use the same name as in school/col cert and as in birth cert and give the same name while applying for a passport and in dv lottery?
October 17, 2017 at 12:36
You need to take what I have said and make a decision for yourself. Again – FULL LEGAL NAME.
October 17, 2017 at 05:47
Hi Brit, thanks for answering all of our questions. My case number is AS12xxx. Does that mean I have a slim chance to get interviewed, seeing as how they might run out of visa numbers before they reach my rank number? I filed the DS260 in September. Do they consider the date when we submitted the DS260, or they will just go according to rank? Eg, if someone with a case number AS2xxx submits in November, will he still get processed first before mine, even if I had submitted my DS260 earlier than him? Thanks a lot for helping me clarify this… just wanted to see my chances.
October 17, 2017 at 12:29
Yes it is the rank that is most important. The AS2xxx person will be ahead of you even if they submit in May. Your number is risky. You just have to wait and see.
One hing I will say is that the travel ban may mean that Iran and Yemen selectees don’t take many of the Asia visas this year. They will be scheduled for interview, BUT mostly placed on AP – KCC could decide to use those allocated visas for high number Asia cases. But we cannot be certain. Hence – wait and see is the ONLY sensible answer.
October 17, 2017 at 06:49
If a DS260 form has to be updated with newer details, will this affect the position in the queue? would this count as having to re-wait all over again or will it have no effect on the future interview time I would get (in theory)? I submitted my DS260 at the end of June.
October 17, 2017 at 12:26
No delay
October 17, 2017 at 09:56
hello simon i made a mistake in the ds 260 in the year of university studies is what i have to unlock and modify or i correct the maintenance day knowing that my normal maintenance will have in january if i am wrong and thanks
October 17, 2017 at 12:16
If you are waiting anyway – correct it.

Hi Brit
I have two questions when i submitted the pic in dv entry my face was slim but now i am littil fat means the face is bigger than first image i am little afraid about that
And reagrding woman can she put littil makeup in her face during pic or should take pic whith out any makup b/c when we went to take the pic photographer told us makup. And lipstick not allwoed for usa visa but the problem she already put little makeup and lipstick in the pic of entry
Plsss ur advice
October 17, 2017 at 13:23
For your physical changes, it wouldn’t normally be a problem unless the weight change was extreme.
For “a little” makeup – that is normally ok
October 17, 2017 at 13:30
Thanks very much
October 17, 2017 at 13:27

Hi. I submitted DS 260 in site. But now i lost my job. Do i have to change my job information? and Is it safe to go an interview unemployed?
October 17, 2017 at 15:44

October 17, 2017 at 15:44

October 17, 2017 at 15:47
Hi Brit, I am a little concerned as I want to apply for the DV lottery, but I have recently been accepted into a University for a 5 year degree. Now I was wondering if it would be possible for me to first finish my degree and then permanently moving to the US. As Well as I would be making regular trips to the US (once a year) in that period of 5 years. Would this work ? Will I be provided re-entry into the US or will my green card be considered abandoned?
Sorry for the long question.
Thank you
October 17, 2017 at 16:32
There is no point being concerned about future plans when we are discussing a LOTTERY with a chance of winning of once in 200 years! Live your life, enter the lottery. IF you win, reconsider your plans.
October 17, 2017 at 21:16
Hi Brit

October 17, 2017 at 22:37
my son more than 21 years old is it eligible to be in my form or another form for him
October 17, 2017 at 22:50
If your son is already over 21 you can’t add him on your form. He may be able to enter himself.
October 18, 2017 at 01:49
Hey, Brit
My case is AF 49xxx what do you think about this number according to delays process
October 18, 2017 at 02:10

October 18, 2017 at 04:19
Hi
Simon
I’m from Myanmar.I’m the winner of DV 2018. I want to ask you about my problem.I applied dv from the dv agent. They filled my husband’s birth place wrong. But I didn’t know that wrong after I applied ds 260 form.
So I filled my husband’s birthplace that he was born . We have a proof birth certificate .And then his passport ‘s birth place was also wrong.I didn’t know that wrong i filled the passport number. but the lawyer saw that mistake so he told me. So I did my husband ‘ passport new and pressed observation old passport number on new passport book. Is it problem my interview and disqualified ? Please tell me my case.
I ‘ m worried about that.
Thanks.
October 18, 2017 at 04:54
No problem.
October 18, 2017 at 07:21
Hello, we are planning to make our first entrance this weekend. We are planning to enter again in July and get a re-entry permit. If we take a permit of 2 years, we will go in and out for 6 months and I will look for a job, even if I can not find a job at the end of 2 years we will move to USA
I would be glad if you can give us information on the following.
1. If we get a reentry permit, however enter USA every 6 months, will continuous residence be interrupted for naturalization?
2. I do not want to take my children with me before totally settling in USA. Do my children under 18 get citizenship directly in case I obtain citizenship?
Thank you
October 18, 2017 at 13:10
1. I don’t know the exact rules about naturalization. Your plan could be seen as an abuse of the rules. That could reset the naturalization clock AND cause problems with the Green Card. Be careful.
2. I don’t know the exact rules.
October 18, 2017 at 07:25
Hi Simon,
I am planning to apply for the Dv-2019 on my birth country passport, while i am currently a resident of another country. (Both countries are eligible for the DV). In case I am to be selected, would any required documents as police checks etc, be requested from the country of birth or the country i am currently residing in? Also, if my passport expires before the selection date, what should i do in case I am selected? Many thanks!
October 18, 2017 at 13:07
You have a 1 in 200 chance of being selected. So – *if* you win – ask processing questions then. Not before.
October 19, 2017 at 05:29
I understand. However, is it better to apply using the passport of the country i am currently residing in, or use my home country passport? And as i said both are eligible. Ty
October 19, 2017 at 12:44
It doesn’t make any difference.
October 18, 2017 at 07:39
Hi Brit,
When a selectee is refused a visa over child custody/ other parent’s consent and he is given a red sheet by the co
1. Does that mean permanent ban from entering the US?
2.will the previous denial cause problems at the interview if the person won again and both parents are immigrating and present at the interview?
October 18, 2017 at 13:06
1. No.
2. No
October 18, 2017 at 19:47
Thank you Brit.
You make my hopes high and Alive. God bless you.
October 18, 2017 at 07:51

October 18, 2017 at 12:58
1. You MUST.
2. Lying will cause a problem. So tell the truth.
October 18, 2017 at 11:56
Hello Brit! If our national langage is swahili, do i need to translate the document into english or since it is a national langage i can go with them without translation!
October 18, 2017 at 12:37
If the official language where the embassy is located is Swahili, then no need. Otherwise English translations are needed.
October 18, 2017 at 12:30
hi
did they start sending out the 2NLs for Dec. Interviews? I still did not get mine..
October 18, 2017 at 12:36
