November 8, 2017 at 13:52
Hi Brit,
I won dv 2018 with my wife, we fill the ds-260 and sent in september, my wife is pregnant but in the form ds-260 do not exist a question about that. Our baby will be born in February, we believe before the interview (based on the visa bulletin). We would have some problem with that please help us.
November 8, 2017 at 14:34
The pregnancy has no impact on the interview. Assuming you are approved before the birth, the baby will be processed for a Green Card on your first entry to the USA.
November 9, 2017 at 13:55
Thank you Brit, but if our baby is born before the interview, what should we do?
November 9, 2017 at 14:27
If that happens you simply contact the embassy to add the baby. You would need a birth cert and passport for the child. It isn’t a problem, so relax.
November 9, 2017 at 15:37
Alejandro. I am in the same case of you. Please contact me [email protected] or Here with your whatsapp
November 8, 2017 at 14:35
So what shall we do Brit?name, address&photos are the same but birth date, year,&month are similar from the first entry
November 8, 2017 at 14:37
I suggest you do not waste the money on the interview.
November 8, 2017 at 14:52
I saw a question for other person. But if I write dont have a children in the entry, later i won the lottery, and in one month is going to born my baby. Is that not a problem. Right?
November 8, 2017 at 14:58
No problem.

It might slow down approval.

Do u mean my case will go under AP for long time
November 8, 2017 at 21:05
I can’t predict that with any certainty.
November 8, 2017 at 21:16
Pls just tell me from ur opnion will it cause possible refusal

November 8, 2017 at 17:02
Hello Dear Britsimon! I am selected for the dv 2018. But when registering me, the cyberman had filmed me with a cell phone not very clear and the background not really white. Just to know if it could be a problem during the interview?
November 8, 2017 at 19:18
Probably no problem.
November 8, 2017 at 17:02
hello simon, 1 month ago my 6 year old daughter had a sickness, so she should not be vaccinated for 2 years, baby
all of the period vaccinations have been made, so we can not be vaccinated and rejected?
November 8, 2017 at 19:16
The doctor will decide what is medically appropriate in the circumstances.
November 8, 2017 at 17:05
Hi Simon, I wanna to thank you again for your restless supporting, god bless u with all your family.just I have 2 questions
1.I am from Africa as my case number is high my interview will be probably at the last summer of 2018 as u told me before. So,if I will pass the interview at that time can I have a chance to complete the process after interview, after sep-30-2018 or it should be completed before this time
2.when I was filled the Ds260 form I filled my current address Eritrea and place of birth Eritrea,But I choose Sudan for the interview embassy can I have interview in Sudan. or can they schedule in Eritrea which is not my choose
thanks in advance sir
November 8, 2017 at 19:18
1. Interviews and approvals must happen prior to October 1 2018, but if approved you can travel after that date (within the expiry date of the visa).
2. They will choose the embassy based on your current address.
November 8, 2017 at 22:05
Thank u Simon
but I was in eritrea and the current address filled eritrea, just I am in Sudan which is my choose of interview So,just I have to change the current address is sudan to schedule my interview in sudan. You mean they schedule according current address not only the choice is enough to have interview in sudan.
thanks in advance sir
November 9, 2017 at 00:29
Yes – current address.
November 8, 2017 at 17:17
Dear Mr.Simon,
today i was filling the DV 2019 form and instead of getting the confirmation number i get the same page where the infos are displayed with the text
“SUBMISSION IN PROGRESS” – “Your submission is currently in the process of being submitted. To retrieve your confirmation page, please click the “Check Submission” button below.”
If i click on “Check Submission”, nothing happens and it gives me always the same page with my infos.
do you think I should submit again or will it be counted as a second time and I will be disqualified if i do?? although I didn’t get a conformation number 🙁
on that page it also says “Please do not leave this page until you receive a confirmation number. Your confirmation number is proof that your entry has been successfully submitted. You must retain your confirmation number in order to check your status in May ”
but I kept waiting and nothing happened! no conformation number!
Please Help! Thanks in advance
November 8, 2017 at 19:09
I have no special understanding of their system. You must decide whether you think your entry was made or not.
November 8, 2017 at 19:21
Did the system accept your photo? Since I was filling the form last week and same happened to me and I didnt get any confirmation number then I realized the problem was the photo size. So make sure the photo size is correct.
November 8, 2017 at 20:54
Submitted it again, your submission hasn’t been accepted
November 8, 2017 at 17:51
Hello sir, I have been selected for 2018 dv lottery. When I was filling ds260, I answered yes at the question on if I had lived another country after 16. Mistakenly I entered my country of birth address instead of that former country. I completed high school from that country with secondary diploma and police clearance and also police clearance for my country of birth. With that mistake, will my visa be approved?
November 8, 2017 at 19:14
I suggest you unlock your form and correct the mistakes.
November 8, 2017 at 19:59
Hi Simon
my interview for DVlottery was today at the embassy of Sudan, after the interview finished the consular officer didn’t approve or reject my visa application , but instead he provided me a paper that contains 7 question and told me that i have to answer these questions and send them by mail to the embassy email and then they can process my application noting that this process my take couple of months.
i need to know if this is a normal behavior or its indicator of refusal because i couldn’t figure out the reason behind the same since all my papers are correct, so i don’t know what to expect.
appreciate your help.
November 8, 2017 at 20:07
It happens in some cases. It doesn’t mean refusal or approval – it just means they want to gather more information. Follow the instructions.
November 12, 2017 at 08:53
Dear Simon,
thank you for your feedback, i have noticed that the consular officer stamped the papers with 221(g), any idea , what is it ?
Thank you.
November 12, 2017 at 10:54
Administrative processing (AP). They haven’t made a decision – they will take more time. If they haven’t asked for any additional document, then it means they are performing additional background checks. What country are you from?
November 13, 2017 at 08:39
From sudan.
November 8, 2017 at 20:43
Hello Brit,
when paying the USCIS fee, do we have to create an account for each family member or can we gather every family memeber into one USCIS account ?
November 8, 2017 at 21:05
One account
November 8, 2017 at 21:50
Hello sir, my case is scheduled for December for interview.
1. Should I unlock my ds260?
2. If yes how do I proceed to correct the mistakes?
3. If no what advice are you giving me to explain myself during my interview day?
Best Regard
November 9, 2017 at 00:30
1. As you are scheduled for interview – you cannot now unlock.
3. Tell the truth.
November 8, 2017 at 22:53
Hi Dear Brit. I am selected for the DV2018. But I wore eyeglasses in the photo I had used for the application in October 2016. Just to know if it could be a problem during the interview?
November 9, 2017 at 00:28
No
November 8, 2017 at 23:48
Hi Brit, I wrote to KCC and I just received an email from them that my request to unlock was approved.
My Question: where do I sign in to make changes in ds260? Cuz I tried CEAC again and it says invalid case number.
Your help will be appreciated big bro.
Thanks
November 9, 2017 at 00:28
You sign in the same way you did before.
November 9, 2017 at 01:05
mr simon

so i’am worry
November 9, 2017 at 04:23

Greeting from Nepal,
Do warts cause a medical report fail ?
Thank you so much for your tireless support.
November 9, 2017 at 04:23
No
November 9, 2017 at 04:47
Hi Brit, please I make an unlock on the 25 of last month which was first summited in June, and my number is (392xx). Does this mean that I still have to wait again for a long time before receiving the second letter?
November 9, 2017 at 06:26
You have to wait, but not because of unlocking, simply because of your case number.
November 9, 2017 at 06:40
Thanks Brit. And also please for how long would it takes to reach my number?
November 9, 2017 at 07:53
be patient .
November 9, 2017 at 14:17
Several months. Enough time for you to read the FAQ.
November 9, 2017 at 06:26

November 9, 2017 at 07:50
Dear Mr Brit Simon, I do appreciate your effort for all the answers, I am one of the winner, living in america is not easy as you think there are a lots of problems out there…
What do you suggest for all DV winners … getting a job, even having argument with sponsors and getting one..
you may not have this information please ,just from your experience kindly give us good response sometimes i observe you’re saying i don’t know ,don’t waste my time. that’s not professional i know you’re spending your time to help with out getting nothing ..Thank you in advance
November 9, 2017 at 14:14
Yes, moving to a new country and starting from the beginning is hard. However, it is difficult to offer advice that would help every winner. Everyone has a different case. I do think people need to research better about where they will live, there is little point in moving to an area that seems very cheap to live, if the reason for it being cheap is a lack of good jobs. Choose a place where jobs are plentiful and be prepared to work hard – take 2 jobs if needed. Be prepared to take a step back in your career, be prepared to work hard, be VERY careful to spend less than you earn.
By the way – when I answer I don’t know and don’t waste my time – that is my choice. I am not a professional blogger, I work for a living. So – when people waste my time by repeating questions I already answered, or ask questions that I cannot answer, you will continue to see those responses.
November 9, 2017 at 15:46
Indeed, and very well said Simon, if you can find http://www.brittsimonsays.com from the web, why can’t you do some research on where are you going to be, start from where your people mostly reside, find a job that you interested from many many, and I would say again, many job offering on the web
Please note, I am not trying to become smart *ss here, but if you asking people to help you, some time it work, mostly don’t be strong, and mature
November 9, 2017 at 08:29
Hi Brit. Thanks a Million for your relentless effort in assisting us. I did as you said and opened the ds260 form.
After making all the necessary changes, did not print the large page.
So I don’t know now if the confirmation number stays the same or changes.
I after resumitting the ds260 form, I was issued a different confirmation number, how do i get the page?
Thanks biggy
November 9, 2017 at 14:07
You can navigate to the last page of the DS260 and print that – but showing the old conformation doesn’t harm.
November 9, 2017 at 09:53

November 9, 2017 at 11:25
Hi Simon,
Last week I asked you the following question:
I’ m an Italian citizen born in Germany to an Italian mother and Ethiopian (now Italian) father. Neither of them has ever hold German citizenship/permanent residency. My entire family moved to Italy when I was 6 yrs old. I’m aware that both ITA and GER are elibigle countries but choosing Italy as country of eligibility/chargeability would be much more convenient for me, there are less applications filed, thus more chances, am I getting this right? . Can I use Italy as country of chargeability/eligibility?
Your answer was: pick Germany.
But I found this in the DV-2019-Instructions FAQs:
Because there is a numerical limitation on immigrants who enter from a country or geographic region, each individual is charged to a country. Your chargeability refers to the country towards which limitation you count.
Your country of eligibility will normally will be the same as your country of birth. However, you may choose your country of eligibility as the country of birth of your spouse, or the country of birth of either of your parents if you were born in a country in which neither parent was born, and in which your parents were not resident at the time of your birth
Do you confirm your previous answer?
Sorry for bothering you
November 9, 2017 at 13:55
Your whole concept is wrong – and the text you found is published and explained in detail on my site.
Entries from Italy and Germany have IDENTICAL chance of selection. You were born in Germany. There is ***NO*** advantage to picking Italy. Again, pick Germany.
November 9, 2017 at 17:41
Yes, I got it now. Also, I went back a few pages and found a reply to a similar question, should have checked that before asking again.
Thank you
November 9, 2017 at 12:24
Dear Sir,
Do you know how much times it approximately takes to receive the permanent green card once we’ve been to the US to validate the temporary visa?
Thanks a lot
November 9, 2017 at 13:49
It varies from a few weeks, to about 4 months.
November 9, 2017 at 14:06
This is Roshan, from Nepal
I heard that Donald Trump is trying to reject/cancel all the DV entry, is that true?
and in our country there is a latest news about the DV has stopped so what can u tell about that or can u do something about this.
November 9, 2017 at 14:25
Read my latest article about that.
November 9, 2017 at 15:33
Please sir may that mistake of misquoting my former country of residence address lead to my visa denial since I cannot unlock and tell the truth?
Thank you
November 9, 2017 at 15:47
Probably not.
November 9, 2017 at 15:50

November 12, 2017 at 08:43
Thank you Sir
November 9, 2017 at 20:12
Hello Simon,
I have a few questions:
1. When filling the DS-260 there is following statement right before submission step: “By clicking “Sign and Submit Application” you are electronically signing the application. You are required to electronically sign your application yourself, unless otherwise exempt by regulation, even if the application has been prepared by someone other than yourself…” – I assume that “Signing” means clicking on the submit button, right?
2. I noticed several empty signature places at the end of the “army draft” pdf and it got me confused. Should it be signed? If yes, how?
Thank you
November 9, 2017 at 21:26
Hello Simon
I’m putting together my docs before the interview. The job offer from US emploer should be hand signed letter physically sent to my home address in Europe ? or only email is ok ? I’m bit confused how such offer should look like. What is the proper form. My future employer is a small firm and they never did it before.
Thanks yor your answer
November 9, 2017 at 23:11
Really, an employer should know. If they are really too small to know, I would question how legitimate is the offer.
November 9, 2017 at 21:45
I need an explanation
I did an interview at the US Embassy last Tuesday and the consul did not grant me the visa. He asked me to answer seven questions and send them to the embassy by e-mail.
My question
Does this mean that the visa has been refused and the opportunity to get the card has been lost?
Thank you
November 9, 2017 at 23:09
No, it means you need to answer the questions and then they will decide the outcome
November 10, 2017 at 05:57
can you share us the questions ?please
November 10, 2017 at 05:47
Hallo brit after kcc has unlocked the ds 260,when submitting you have to print the confirmation page?tnx again simon
November 10, 2017 at 14:26
You can do so.
November 10, 2017 at 08:17
Hello! I would like to ask is it a problem that I have filled in green card applications with one email for several people? Thank you, have a nice day!
November 10, 2017 at 14:24
No
November 10, 2017 at 08:38
hi brit
am Dv 2018 winner am from Ethiopia my cn is 2018AF10xxx i filled DS 260 on OCt 10 unlock it agian on cot 20 and send it the same day when do you think my 2NL will be sent?
November 10, 2017 at 14:24
Wait and see.
November 10, 2017 at 09:22
how you can entry without a sponsor on US soil
November 10, 2017 at 14:22
DV lottery entry doesn’t need a sponsor. If selected, you can show your own savings, get a host, or an I-134.
November 10, 2017 at 10:39
An agent contacted me that I’ve won the dv lottery but only promised to give me the confirmation number only if I either agree to a sham marriage or pay a huge sum of money to him
Fortunately my browser recalls data so I was able to get access to the confirmation number and filled my ds260 forms behind his back.
I’ve been scheduled for an interview late December. My agent found out 2 days ago and have threatened to destroy the whole process by going to the embassy to contest my win if I don’t pay the money by a set period.
I want to know if really he can do something to affect my case or its just an empty threat?
November 10, 2017 at 11:48
Those are empty threats he can’t do anything there is no need to worry
November 10, 2017 at 14:20
It’s an empty threat. However, in cases where agents enter on your behalf, they often make errors in the entry that lead to denial. In your case you were involved with the entry, so I understand the details are accurate – so you should be safe to proceed. The lesson to be learned is not to trust people with your entry., The whole process is simple, and there are dishonest people (MANY of them in Ghana) that are ruining the process for everyone with their fraud. DON’T stand for it!
November 10, 2017 at 11:01
This is just an empty threat he can’t do any thing
I guess you are from Ghana
November 10, 2017 at 11:42
Are you sure the agent can’t do anything, bare in mind that he has access to all the info.
November 10, 2017 at 12:01
Agent has:
Your full CN
Your personal data
Your interview date
Not sure with the email address, I assume, he put his own email
My my, why did you gave your personal data, hoping to win the lottery, but deny to be consequent with your will?
November 10, 2017 at 12:49
You can report the situation to the USA Embassy in your area.
It is really a crime punishable by law!
Solomon Alemu
November 10, 2017 at 12:53
Since your interview has been scheduled I think he can’t do any thing even though he has your bio date but better still you can inform the embassy in which your interview has been scheduled in case of any attempt the should arrest him
November 10, 2017 at 14:11
Is dv Lottery Cancelled?
November 10, 2017 at 14:15
NO!
November 10, 2017 at 15:12
Hi brit how r u my friend thake a photo with color background after he edit his photo and after edit the background is in white color is this photo ok for dv lottery
November 10, 2017 at 17:02
It depends on how obvious the change is. Better to take a photo against a plain light colored background
November 10, 2017 at 16:50
Hi Mr Brit,
I wish to know if I have to email KCC after making changes in ds260. I submitted the form already.
Do I need to notify that I made the changes and submitted the form?’
Thanks
November 10, 2017 at 17:00
No
November 10, 2017 at 17:26
Hello,
I had entered for DVD 2019 in August 2017. On Nov 2, 2017 it was showing pending. When I inquired customer service, it started showing submitted and sent me a confirmation number. Now, I am able to log in with the same username as in August 2017. I Am wondering if my file is still valid or I need to submit another one?
November 10, 2017 at 17:37
You have unwisely used a third party to process your application. Now you are totally in their hands to determine whether they handled the application correctly or not. No one should use these services, they are a waste of money and increase your chances of errors and refusal.
November 20, 2017 at 14:52
Hello Brit,
Thank you for your reply. However, I had not applied through third party. I had applied on my own on the DL website..
Do I need to refill the application ? I am concerned if I refill, I will be disqualified as I will have 2 applications…
November 20, 2017 at 15:05
The official entry website wasn’t open in August, doesn’t give a username, doesn’t have customer service and doesn’t show pending statuses. So – I don’t know anything about the entry system you used other than being certain it was NOT the official site.
November 10, 2017 at 18:07
Hello brit your works are appreciated .I want to know whether kcc will notify all the selectees with ds260 submitted about VB of every month through email or not
November 10, 2017 at 23:04
No they only notify those that they schedule for interview.
