Hello Brit, hope your are doing great. Will need your opinion about this question. 1) I have lived in two different towns above 16 years but it was just for a year in both towns and I was there for studies. Do I have to mention that on my DS260? 2) If no, how much time can someone stay away from his honetown for us to mention on the DS260? 3) If yes, ahould is unlock or it can be handled during interview? Thank you.
November 23, 2017 at 15:51
Yes list them. Unlock and correct.

If the first time you cross the border after receiving a visa, the medical exam and xray photo are
checked? ( in theory yes but in practice how it looks ?? )

IN practice, no.
November 23, 2017 at 20:51

Hello Mr Brit am kind of confused about something. .i personally applied in the lottery draw but my spouse dint apply she has never participated in this program so once I get selected can I aplly for my spouse at that time when filling the forms or she can’t participate if she was not among the participants and i will have to move on as a single it seems simple but confusing because its just me in the draw?
November 24, 2017 at 05:42
So if you were married and you lied to say you were single you should be disqualified.
November 23, 2017 at 22:44

November 24, 2017 at 05:41
It is rare to be refused for that reason.
November 23, 2017 at 22:58
Because my spouse is in our home country and am working abroad so if I could be allowed to apply for her as my spouse at the time of select confirmation even though the system doesn’t know her at the time how will she access forms to play with me because she dint participate and yet am abroad she’s home i just need to know thanks sir. Is she already off the trend or she can join through my select confirmation and if so how and where thanks take care.
November 24, 2017 at 05:40
You xan complete the ds260 for her, but she will need to be at the interview with you.
November 23, 2017 at 22:59
Hi Brit,
1- I would like to know if paying the immigration fees online before my arrival in the US will make sure that I receive my card faster or we start counting the 3 or 4 months from the day I enter the US .
2- I had the visa with my wife and I am the main applicant. I would like to know if my wife can enter before me in the United States.
Have a good day
November 24, 2017 at 05:38
1. It can still take months.
2. No.
November 24, 2017 at 07:58
Hi Mr.Britsimon I am DV2018 winner and my country Is on the travel ban list I am going to recieve my second nationality and already Scheduled for Interview the second nationality is not written on the form so is there any risk of taking the Passport of 2nd nationality to the Interview Thanks Brit.
November 24, 2017 at 14:47
I would recommend you unlock and correct the DS260.
November 24, 2017 at 08:42
Hello Brit, I am selectee from Serbia, EUxxxx26xxx, still without interview date. In my DV-260 I mentioned my work experience (21 years in a foreign company) and my position, but wrote everything I am working, but in my job description it is not all mentioned, can I be disqualified? Thank you! BR
November 24, 2017 at 14:46
If you meet the requirement through education there is no concern about work experience.
November 24, 2017 at 09:39
Hello Brit,
I am a dv2017, I travelled to USA and I presented my envelop and passports with visa to border & customs protection officers. They opened the envelope and told me that my medical was expired. They took me to an interrogating room and held my passport and the documents from the envelop. They asked me if I had other documents apart from what I showed to them but I said NO..
Later after about one hour, they took my fingerprints and gave back my passports stamped ‘parolled’ reason ‘medical DE’ expiry date 26th Dec.
They gave me a note with an appointment with Customs and Border Protection December 26th.
They told me to do another Medical test.
My quiz is, is there a big trouble if I provide new medical examination?
And what’s the main reason for their appointment?
Your advise will be highly appreciated..
Thanks.
November 24, 2017 at 14:39
Well was the medical more than 6 months before the entry? It is possible that your medical had a short expiry date due to some medical condition. In any case – follow their instructions and provide the medical.
November 26, 2017 at 14:53
The medical was more than six months before entry. They paroled me and allowed me to enter USA with an extension of one month and asked me to do another Medical. Thanks so much for your reply..
November 26, 2017 at 15:07
So that makes perfect sense.
November 24, 2017 at 14:09
Hello Simon
I made a mistake in filling my birth city. Instead of Accra I filled in Ghana. Is this an automatic refusal or I can correct it when filling the DS 260
November 24, 2017 at 14:32
Yes, you can correct in the DS260.
November 24, 2017 at 14:56

Q2.what is the role of our sponser do they sent airplane ticket?

November 24, 2017 at 15:00
1. Normally not, unless there is suspicion about your education documents.
2. That is something for you to discuss with the sponsor.
November 24, 2017 at 15:25
Hi Mr.Simon, while completing DS-260 as DV-2018 winner my son was in school and completed in June when DS-260 has already been submitted. Now he’s university student, should I unlock the DS-260 and add this data or just bringing the letter from university at the time of interview is sufficient? Also, after submitting DS-260 we’ve visited USA as tourists, should I update this info in DS-260 as well?
November 24, 2017 at 22:16
If you are waiting anyway you can update the form, but neither update is that important.
November 25, 2017 at 03:44
Hello Brit!we were scheduled for an interview in December 4 by KCC.But we get a phone call from a cell phone number telling that he was from American embassy and our interview is postponed to December 18.we have not received any emails from embassy.what do you suggest to do at this time?-from Nepal
November 25, 2017 at 04:51
Contact the embassy to check.
November 25, 2017 at 05:46
Hello BritSimon,
You will excuse me if you have already explained/replied to the following questions regarding “DS 260”
1.Is it a must to have a police clearance for every country I visited or lived? (Cause here “live” is not clear defined as far i am concerned.
2. If yes, what if i can’t find it or unable to travel back to that country? Do I have to ommit it in my DS or state it, when asked in interview then give reasons why i can’t provide it.
3. The ommission of one place lived/travelled or other information will be a cause of disqualification?
Once again for your time, if you have a link or post explaining this mysterious DS 260 form will be helpful.
Regards,
November 25, 2017 at 15:00
1. It is all detailed and defined in the dvselectee instructions. Read that!
2. Again, covered in the instructions.
3. Possibly.

Hi Simon,
Thanks so much for your site. My question is regardin DS-260 and listing past educational institutions attended. If you attend, but do not finish course/certification, what should be put under “Degree/ diploma/ certificate received”?
November 25, 2017 at 14:58
“None”
November 25, 2017 at 06:12
Dear Britsimon.
I won DV 218. I completed ds 260 with old passport number. My passport was not working good at the airports then I changed for new passport in September. Do I need to unblock ds 260 and put there my new passport number?
Thanks for answer.
November 25, 2017 at 14:58
Yes
November 25, 2017 at 09:09
Hello Brit Please Tell Me last Case Number this time interview. program
November 25, 2017 at 14:57
I don’t understand your question.
November 25, 2017 at 09:24
Greetings Mr Britsimon, I am a winner of the Dv2018 and by the time I was playing with my family , my first son who is not of my wife was not yet with us, after which we followed the legal procedures to officially and legally have in and as part of our family. Now we are worried about living him behind if God bless us with the EV, please what can you advice us to do about this situation.
November 25, 2017 at 14:56
Is this child a biological child of yours?
Was the child on the original entry?
November 26, 2017 at 14:33
He is my child but he was not on the original entry because when we were doing the entry he was not living with us and only came later.
November 26, 2017 at 15:06
So you should be disqualified.
November 25, 2017 at 18:46
Hello Simon,
I’d like to ask, me and my spouse have 20k in our bank account. The money are basically put together by our parents as a kind of long therm loan. Do you think this can be a problem if the money isnt our own savings? Do we need to bring some additional document as proof from whom the money are coming ? Thank you
November 25, 2017 at 18:47
EU region, interview due in two weeks
November 26, 2017 at 14:46
The embassy may ask for a letter to say the money is a non repayable gift.
November 25, 2017 at 20:42
Urgent.
Three days ago, the White House and its 13 states filed a request to the Supreme Court demanding full application of the Trump decree for travel attendants, including those with first degree relatives.
The court granted the civil rights organizations and all the opposition parties to the decision on November 28 to respond to what was presented by the House of Elbez and the 13 state in favor of the Trump decree.
So we expect the case to be settled very soon.
Knowing that the Court allowed the application of the decision in part until the separation of legitimacy or not so as not to include everyone who has relatives in America.
It is also known that the entry into force of the decree of tramp for the travel attendant ends within 90 days of its adoption. He shall issue another decree thereafter.
Therefore, we recommend all the winners of the lucky winner of 2018, who met quickly to correspond with the embassies before the end of the three days to demand the issuance of visas before the issuance of a decision to attend another travel.
States in favor of the full implementation of the ban are
Texas, Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, Florida, Kansas, Louisiana, Missouri, Ohio, Oklahoma, South Carolina, and West Virginia.

November 26, 2017 at 15:32
Hello M.Kazom. What does it mean?
Where are u read this infomation?
November 25, 2017 at 21:49
Hi,
Was it necessary for my wife to include me and my son, her step son, to her initial lottery entry? We were not legally married at the time of the initial entry.
November 26, 2017 at 14:51
If you were not married at that time, no.
November 25, 2017 at 23:08
How does this affect the 2018 winners?
November 25, 2017 at 23:10
Hello mr.
by the time i submitted ds form i did not have passport so left it empty. Now i have it so should i unlock and fill it? Or is it enough to show them at interview time?
Thank you
November 26, 2017 at 14:52
Either way can work, unlocking is better (if you are not already scheduled).
November 28, 2017 at 00:26
Dear Simon,
Thank you! I am the winner cn AF 168.. ethiopoa so is it enough to unlock only mine not my husband’s and my daughter’s?

Hey Brit,
I’ve entered the US on October 14th and paid the immigrant fee on October 7th..now when I check USCIS I still says “immigrant visa fee received” but it has been almost 45 days since I’ve entered the US. Is this normal?

November 26, 2017 at 01:55
Hey Birt
My father is 2018 DV winner. We are from Nepal and our case number is 70xx. My concern is by the time we have our interview, I might turn 21. My birthday is 24th sept. So, if I have my visa interview before i turn 21 and we are granted for visa aswell and then I turn 21, will I still be eligible for my Green card application? I heard GC applications takes a while so if i apply for GC before 21 will I still be able to get it after 21?
November 26, 2017 at 14:53
No problem.
November 26, 2017 at 04:21
Simon, I have just returned from a trip from Canada, I was sent for immigration check, my return trip with my green card was more worrying than my first entry into the US. Now, I am leaving the US for 3 months in January, I am now worried that CBP officers will send me for secondary check every time
November 26, 2017 at 14:57
There is no question.
November 26, 2017 at 17:19
Do you think I will have a problem if i go back to my country?
November 27, 2017 at 23:07
I don’t know.
November 26, 2017 at 05:18

Hi Brit, I am a 2018 dv lottery winner, I am married and I have obviously filled the ds 260 form including my spouse. Now she is pregnant and will give birth to a new baby at the end of this month. Meanwhile I have just receaved my 2nL letter where my interview date is scheduled for january,9 of 2018. My question is this: what to do if the baby is born to have more chance for my interview? Thanks. I am from cote d’ivoire.
November 26, 2017 at 15:04
As soon as the baby is born, contact the embassy and ask them to add the child to the case. You will need the birth cert and passport for the child.
November 26, 2017 at 15:19
Brit, when you said “nonsense ” to what kazom posted, what were you exactly saying. Is his info wrong?

Hi Brit. I have an issue…i won greencard and i just figured out(i asked mom send me last photo i took, but she send me the old one) that used the same photo which i submitted in 2015 for dv lottery entry. Is that will be a reason for disqualification?
November 26, 2017 at 15:47
Probably not.
November 26, 2017 at 18:37
BritSimon, do you know if USCIS accepts payments (for the Green Card issuance) with an international credit card or does it have to be one from an American bank?
November 27, 2017 at 23:06
Try.
November 26, 2017 at 18:48
Hello Brit and Many Thanks for this website. My question is how can I add a ds260 form for my newborn baby?

November 27, 2017 at 03:00
Hi Brit,
Is it possible to withdraw DS-260 application? I haven’t been called for an interview yet.
I live in US and submitted I-485 as a beneficiary of my wife. I mentioned in my I-485 application that I submitted DS-260 form through diversity visa lottery. Thank you for your response and help.
November 27, 2017 at 22:57
No, you cannot withdraw the DS260. But, for AOS cases, it is not fully processed by KCC – so I don’t think there is any problem just not filing the DV based I-485 (if that is what you want to do).
November 28, 2017 at 02:21
thanks, now I have two applications – submitted DS-260 (through diversity visa) and I-485 (through my wife’s 140 approval). I am not going to continue DS-260 application anymore. Do I need to let KCC know about that? Thank you for your response
November 28, 2017 at 03:29
No, but you can if you want.
November 27, 2017 at 05:38

He can be your sponsor
November 27, 2017 at 06:27

Dear Simon,
It was my great fortune to reach your blog. Your articles and replies really helped me to reach destination and now we have received our visa. I feel your replies like ‘wait & see’; ‘patience’ extremely worth in DV cases.
Once again, Thank You very much for your endless efforts and supports to every individual.
