Hi Brit
I won dv 2018 visa lottery as a couple. However we had done the customary marriage prior to the entry period for dv 2018 lottery but registered our marriage after we won the lottery.
While filling the ds260 form, we used our initial date of marriage which is the customary marriage date as our date of marriage. Do you think there could be a problem with this during the interview? Thanks!
November 30, 2017 at 15:04
No problem.
November 30, 2017 at 14:20
Hi Simon, I know it’s a silly question but I read here that KCC will not be sending out any email confirming the date of the interview: how can I then check about it when my number will be current? Which link and/or website…..
Many thanks in advance and kind regards

With a minor changes,
Hi Simon,
Trust this note finds you well. I am the winner for DV 2018 from South Asia and waiting for interview date. My question is do I have to ask someone as a sponcer now and fill any form?or when I received the mail for interview I get preparation. I mentioned in DV 260 form the name of someone he is in USA since one year and I have the option to change it to a relative that living in USA since 20 years. Is it really important? Please advise.
Thanks and Regards,
Abdul HADI Noorzad

Dear Brit
Greetings
I would like to ask about a situation . I am a DV2018 winner and I think my interview date is going to coincide with with the expected dates of delivery of my wife .
1- what if she couldn’t attend the interview?
2- what if the baby was born earlier before the interview , i mean how to add the baby at such time ?

US employer send me Job offer letter hand signed, photocopied via email. Is that Ok ? or is better to present original letter at the embassy ? in that case he would need to send the letter as physical letter. Thanks Simon
November 30, 2017 at 18:19
and same question for Affidavit of support. Sponsor hand signed it and send me copy via email. Is that ok ? Thank you so much.
November 30, 2017 at 20:18
The rules about emailed documents have changed recently, so the I-134 should (theoretically) be OK if emailed. However, it is up to the CO – so a CO might request the original.
For the job offer, email should be OK.

Hello Brit,
My wife is the primary beneficiary of DV 2017. We got the visa and we are planning to travel soon. But I was thinking about staying with my brother for a while. My brother lives in an other State and I’ve been thinking to give my brother’s address so that I will get the green card if it is sent while am still there.
Is it possible for us (me and my wife) to give different addresses at the immigration?
Thanks

November 30, 2017 at 19:18
Hi Simon, a quick question about the DV lottery. We applied for the 2019 lottery and since applying we have had a baby. Do we need to add the baby to our application now? Or do we only need to add a family member in the event that we get selected? Thank you in advance for your advice, I have tried to find this information out online but it seems impossible to find a definitive answer!
November 30, 2017 at 20:11
If you are selected you will add the baby later. Nothing to do now.
November 30, 2017 at 21:13
Great, thank you very much for the info

Can I get an address that I can use to track the status of my social security cos I went there to register for one and was told it’s pendind;meaning I have started the registration already.meanwhile I just paid for my green card online but didn’t do anything about my social security
December 2, 2017 at 05:00
There was an option in the DS260 about having the SSN automatically granted. You obviously selected that. So – just wait.
December 2, 2017 at 08:00

December 2, 2017 at 11:16
Hi Brit!
I tried to find visa bulletins from the past, but can not find any on the site: https://travel.state.gov/content/visas/en/law-and-policy/bulletin/2015/visa-bulletin-for-may-2015.html
Do you know the reason?
Thank you in advance!
December 2, 2017 at 16:08
The reason is they changed the location of the VBs. Use google.
December 2, 2017 at 12:00
Hey Brit. I asked this question, in a diffrent section, but I dont now how to get back there… I will most likely start a new job and move to a diffrent city in feburary. My Casenr. is EU 33XXX. From looking at the process from previous years, we have been told that unlocking the forms can cause delay in processing the documents. Especially for people with high case numbers, we have been advised to only unlock the documents if it is really really necessary.
Now, I have read that this years process somewhat changed. Does that mean, that my case will only be treated according to my casenumber and that the (late) date of submitting does not cause a later processing of my documents?
I would be starting this new job in feb. and have the following questions:
1.) Do you recommend unlocking the forms at all? Or is it okay if the information entered are correct until the day of submision? Especially for high casenumbers, a lot of change can happen within a year (kids, marriage, finishing school, moving, starting a new job etc.). It feels a little
“strange” (in lack of a better word) to me if any of these changes would require to unlock the forms again.
2.) If forms need to be unlocked for that, do you recommend doing it now? Or in feb., when I started the job?
3.) Since my casenumber is safe according to your calculations, however quite high, if I was to unlock my documents now, will I be at risk of not getting scheduled, since processing my documents will be delayed? (if it will be delayed?)
So many questions… Thank you a lot in advance!
December 2, 2017 at 16:05
1. Unlocking doesn’t cause delays. What you had been advised is incorrect. Accuracy is important.
2. To change now would not be accurate.
3. See 1.
December 2, 2017 at 19:54
Okay. So just to make it 200% sure. Unlocking a DS260 form with a number EU 333XX in feb. will not increse my risk or put me at risk of not getting scheduled?
Sorry for being such a pain, but this GC thing is very important for me, I want to make sure, I check everything rather one time too often then one time too little.
December 2, 2017 at 21:04
My previous answer was clear.
December 2, 2017 at 15:34
Hi Brit!
I am a DV18 winner with the case number EU11XXX. I am originally from Turkey, but I have been living in Germany for the last 11 months. The results came in when I was here and on my DS260 form I chose here to have my interview, I contacted to KCC and the Consulate here and they said I could.
My question is I have already filled and once unlocked my form. I have recently moved to a new address which is not necessarily far from my previous one, I mean its not like a complete different city or a state. Should I still unlock and change my address information?
Thank you.
December 2, 2017 at 15:50
No need.
December 2, 2017 at 16:33

Hi Brits,I want to find out that if you smoke marijuana for recreational, will that affect your DV visa issuance and would it be part of the medical examination? If you are asked whether you smoke marijuana and you answer occasional for recreation will that affect your chances of visa issuance
December 3, 2017 at 15:16
That does not disqualify you. Lying does.
December 3, 2017 at 06:21
Dear Simon,
I have interview tomorrow in Nepal and i forgot to generate a police verification certificate. Would that hamper my chances of getting a visa? So worried 🙁
December 3, 2017 at 15:15
It will mean they put you on AP until you get the police cert.
December 3, 2017 at 07:13

December 3, 2017 at 07:22
Hello Brit!
I recently have changed my job position, but in the same company. From a SALESMAN to HEAD OF HUMAN RESOURCES.
Do I need to unlock my DS260 for that?
Thanks a lot! Wish you the best!

No.
December 3, 2017 at 07:23
Hello Brit,
My girlfriend won 2018 dvlottery, EU29XXX (France).
We are going to mary in May 2018. After the mariage we will have to reopen the DS260 to mention our mariage. Do you think that getting married this late could be risky? Is it going to postpone our interview?!
Thank you.
December 3, 2017 at 15:11
It is idiotic to leave the marriage that late. It’s like you are trying to actually cause yourself a headache.

You can re-enter with the endorsed visa in your passport.

Q1:is this normal that the embassy in egypt take some people AP?
Q2: may this people refuse after that ?
Q3:why embassy do that despite their document is true and right?
December 3, 2017 at 15:04
1. Yes
2. That is possible
3. Checking documents provides, additional background checks and so on.

helo mr simon
I had a random migration interview at the American Embassy in Egypt today and I entered administrative procedures with my family (wife and 3 daughters) without any reasons. All the official papers are correct and identical to the ds260 paper. Consul asked me Are you from El Arish? Yes, I have said that there are exceptional incidents of war on terror and Instability and asked for the reason he said only increase procedures
He told us the reasons why he said, ‘Okay, leave Passports and fill in these papers and send it to the embassy’s e-mail.’ He was with an employee who said: ‘Try to get out of sending the papers quickly, even if can finish them today
We said well and left the embassy leaving the Passports and we sent it to the embassy, ??which is additional data such as personal data and family, children and work and housing and was my data and data for my wife and we had written before in the ds260 What is the meaning of this?
1 Will the answer be rejected and we are not granted visas for immigration?
2 Is it a normal procedure in particular and that the place of residence is witnessing some unstable events?
3 What is the duration of the proceedings?
4 Do you have Master Simon any other explanation
Thank you so much
December 4, 2017 at 14:20
1. AP has two possible outcomes, approval or denial. I can’t guess your outcome.
2. Yes it is normal/common.
3. Varies.
4. No.
December 3, 2017 at 18:38
Hello BritSimon, thank you in advance for your valuable answers.
My sister is a 2018 Dv lottery winner, she had interview on October 11, 2017, but she was asked to bring more documents. Her passport was sent back to her in Her DHL bag. She will submit her documents and passport tomorrow ( December 4)with a new DHL bag and a New Address on the bag. My question is:
1-Will it be a problem that she has a different address on the DHL bag? Do you think they might get confused, or do I need to email them for that?
2- Her medical exam will be expired on February 23, 2018. She is worried if her medical exam will be expired before she gets her visa, or before entering US. In case if this happen, what should she do?
3.After entering USA, does she have to stay for 3 months. After how long can she go back to her country?
December 4, 2017 at 14:17
1. I don’t know.
2. The visa expiry date will be based on that medical expiry date. If that means too short a visa validity, you can discuss getting a new medical with the embassy.
3, 5 minutes.
December 3, 2017 at 19:36

HI Simon
Is it possible to have interview in different country than one i live in now?
I’d rather have an interview in Poland , but i’ve lived in UK for last 10 yrs.
If i will write my current address as Poland, in order to have an interview scheduled in that country, then it’ll be false statement . Are there any other ways to request such change ?

December 4, 2017 at 14:29
It doesn’t matter as you were a child.
