February 13, 2018 at 17:56
I am a international student in USA. I am still here. If my number becomes current i should go to nepal for interview. And will i need a police report from here. if yes how do i get it
February 13, 2018 at 18:09
You do not need a police cert from the USA
February 13, 2018 at 18:14
I emailed them and they said lyk they would need one from USA and asked me to talk to Nepal Embassy in USA. But they knw nothing. the mail was like:
Dear Safal Chalise,
Please contact the Nepal Police regarding your inquiry:
https://nepalpolice.gov.np/
If you are in the U.S., you may also want to reach out to your Embassy for assistance.
Sincerely,
Consular Section
U.S. Embassy
Kathmandu, Nepal
February 13, 2018 at 18:26
Again, (and as explained in the instructions you obviously haven’t read), you DO NOT need a police cert from the USA. You WILL need one from Nepal, which is why they referred you to the NEPAL police.
Take some time to read the instructions properly.

Hi Simon, hope u are fine? please sir I wish to know if a citizen from a bilingual country like Cameroon can be permitted to speak in French at the interview. Thanks
February 13, 2018 at 18:23
Yes, but English is always better (as it demonstrates better ability to communicate in the USA).
February 13, 2018 at 18:30
Hello Mr Brit
I went for my interview on the 6th of this month but I was put on AP
The CO ask me to do DNA test of my self and my son and also additional evidence to prove our marriage
1. the CO said I should provide any thing that the two of us is owing like property ownership or joint accounts which we don’t do it in our country.
2. I have my child weighing card, birth certificate my wife pregnancy weighing card and marriage certificate from the national chief Imman all bear my name and my wife name
3. The property we own together is our child which I believe the DNA will prove to them.
I will come back and give my interview experience after the decide on my case, Mr Simon
In fact your advices really help me a lot
February 13, 2018 at 18:49
Put some effort into providing proof of the marriage. It will show that you are willing to comply with their request.
February 13, 2018 at 20:13
Did you apply with your wife before or after the 1NL came? That could be the reason
February 14, 2018 at 07:55
I apply as single but got married before selection
February 13, 2018 at 18:52

February 13, 2018 at 19:10
Hello Simon!
My mother had the interview last Thursday and she got denied under the Section 212 (a)(5)(A) Neither educational background nor work experience meet the DV program minimum required.
She doesn’t have high school diploma, but she is working as a line supervisor at a textile factory for 4 years already. They told her that according to the O*NET website she has to reach for 7 points and higher, but with the paperwork she presented she is in between 6<7.
We think that the evaluation they did on her is not correct.
My question is if in this case we can do something, maybe write an email and present additional paperwork to show that she meets all the criteria for 7 and higher.
Thanks in advance for your time.
February 13, 2018 at 19:27
I think that denial was predictable – I would not have recommended taking the interview.. A line supervisor in a factory would NOT meet the standard needed. The standard is termed as “Considerable Preparation Needed”. Meaning the job needs **extensive** training or experience (2 years) to perform the job. Do you really think that is the case to supervise a production line?
However, there is no appeal process – the chance to prove her case was at the interview.
February 13, 2018 at 19:19
Hey brit my no is current i submitted my ds260 15th july and never unlocked do u think its late submission or early
February 13, 2018 at 19:21

February 13, 2018 at 21:17
Hi,
I would like to know, by your opinion, when I can expect to get letter for interview? My case number is 26500 and I am from Europe. Will it be current by the end of lottery 2018? Thanks a lot!
February 13, 2018 at 21:29
I have written several recent articles about this – please read them.

February 13, 2018 at 22:21
Hi Simon, I’m doing AOS for DV18 and I was wondering if having a different address on the I-485 adjustment of status form from my DS-160 matters? Does the letter for the biometrics appt/interview time/green card get sent to the I-485 form address or the DS-160 address? Thanks so much!
February 13, 2018 at 22:29
All AOS questions should go to the expert – Mom. https://forums.immigration.com/threads/dv-2018-aos-only.336256/

February 13, 2018 at 23:23
That depends on whether you can get the medical report in time.
February 13, 2018 at 23:56
Speaking of “Medical results” ; Dear Mr Simon, I saw many “interview experience” denial visas due to different reasons(fraud, lies etc…) but I didn’t see “denial due to medical results”. I understand that “medical issues ” are “private” issues BUT I think we should break that silence and talk about the “reasons of medicals visa denial and how to overcome them”
Mr Simon will correct me if I am wrong, but I saw that “the communicable deceases” which can cause a visa denial “ALL OF THEM ARE CURABLE IN LESS THAN A 9 MONTHS”
So why people do not prepare themselves in advance?
Please Mr Simon(if you have a time); I know that this issue of “communicable decease” has been stated in “FAQS” or ” other different post” BUT I think that this is a core issue people should not ignore; therefore I beg Mr Simon to elaborate it.
Thank you for your time and consideration.
February 14, 2018 at 00:01
Medical refusals are not rare because they are private, they are rare because they are rare. There are only 4 diseases that can cause denial and even those can be treated. So – the only issue is when someone has one of the rare disease and cannot be treated in time.
So – I have documented this as much as it needs already.
February 14, 2018 at 00:21
Care to link me up with those articles please(The ones you documented on”medical denials”).
Thanks
February 14, 2018 at 00:32
Did you try the search or the FAQ or google?
February 13, 2018 at 23:37
Only that ?i can get it in time, because it takes 3to4 days to come out in my countery .
February 13, 2018 at 23:44
OK – so that’s fine then.
February 14, 2018 at 03:11

Hi Brit,
in DS-260 section (Present Work/Education/Training Information)
i answered this Q(In which occupation do you intend to work in the U.S.?) that i intend to be student,
but recently i read that i need to put some job not to chose student due to the DV is prompt to get migrant labor which might be a cause to decline my case.
1.do i need to unlock my DS and change “student” to any job?”make a note that i intent to work and try to enroll to college/university”.
2.if you told me to keep the DS do they will ask me to prove that i can effort education fees?
3.how true this statement ” DV is prompt to get migrant labor”?
Thank you
February 14, 2018 at 17:17
What you heard is NONSENSE.
1. You need to tell the truth. That’s all.
2. No
3. Idiotic.
February 14, 2018 at 11:54
Hi S, My wife and I went for interview early today in Malaysia, she is local and Am foreign, the officer then asked why we are going to us, we said touring, then ask how you to are related, we said we are husband and wife, She then asked my wife she were banker before why she resign and become a journo, also asked how do you two met? we said in 2013 when I came for visit, then asked when do you get married? we answered. So this lady asked me to go away and ask my wife how many people attend our wedding, she gave answer. Then she called me and asked the same question and I gave some answer.
So she took our finger print and gave us a pink slip with our passport back where it asked to give travel history for 15 years, previous passport, sibling and all e-mail address last 5 years. So now come my question what does this pink slip mean and do we have a chance for an approval, how long will this hole mess take.
February 14, 2018 at 15:14
They want to perform these additional checks. Now you just have to wait. I can’t predict how long.
February 14, 2018 at 12:30
I attended the interview on 06-February-2017 in Chennai. I got 221g Administrative processing slip. when i enquired about my case i got a reply from US Consulate chennai i.e “Consular records show that your application has been denied under Section 221(g) of the Immigration and Nationality Act for mandatory administrative processing. Unfortunately, we cannot expedite or give an estimated timeframe. U.S. immigration law requires that additional steps be completed in some cases before a file can be advanced for adjudicative review. Please continue to look at https://ceac.state.gov/ceac/ for the most up to date information regarding your case. “. Please let me know is there any chances to get VISA? I dont know why this application has denied?
February 14, 2018 at 15:11
221g is AP. THat means there are additional checks needed – and in time they will make a decision. You just have to wait.
February 14, 2018 at 14:34
Hi
in my ds260 form i mentioned that i was still in the university but presently i have dropped do you think it might be an issue at the interview if i say i am actually not attending school anymore? thanks
February 14, 2018 at 15:05
No problem.
February 14, 2018 at 15:21
Dear Brit,
Thank you for your support in responding to all questions asked here. Today mine is concerning the scheduling of my interview appointment. I was the course of doing my online registration and got blocked on scheduling because the calendar was inactive and couldn’t move forward.after one day I received the following email”The U.S. Department of State Consulate in X has requested that you send additional documents for your application. Please gather the documents listed below and generate a “Courier-In Authorization Certificate” by clicking the “View Courier-in receipt” button below. Include a copy of these instructions in the list of documents you send to the consulate”.
My question is :the “View Courier-in receipt” button is not there.Did anyone on this blog face the same issue. How can I overcome this issue.
Best regards

Is this a DV lottery case?
February 15, 2018 at 08:35
Dear Brit,
This is the DV case . I am asking if I can send the document to embassy before the interview appointment.
Please help me as you are experienced to deal with DV issues.
Best regards
February 15, 2018 at 15:09
I don’t know anything about that document.
February 14, 2018 at 15:47
Hello Brit,
Thanks and thanks for your great articles and motivate us about VB progress. My question is we know that VB progress goes really slowly and it does not seem like previous years. So, at which pace or at which VB case numbers at any month, we can consider that it might be current for rest of case numbers ? I mean that it is possible that it might be current if pace goes slow. I started to think well that last two or three months will be current . According to your experience, what do you think about going current ? my CN : EU 34XXX
Thanks
February 14, 2018 at 18:52
I have written many recent articles, explaining EU in particular. Please read those.
February 14, 2018 at 16:55

February 14, 2018 at 18:52
Hello Simon.am concerned by Bill which is being discussed by congress which grant dreamers citizenship but stop dv lottery.will this affect 2018 dv lottery winners? When the bill passes how long will it take to become law?
February 14, 2018 at 18:55

February 14, 2018 at 22:33
Hi brit…. When we try to pay the us immigration fees it says “ERROR: We could not find the A-Number and/or DOS Case ID you entered. If your immigrant visa was approved recently, please wait five days before attempting to pay. If the problem continues after five days, please contact the Customer Contact Center for assistance” what should we do we go as instruction says
February 14, 2018 at 22:50
So wait for a week.
February 15, 2018 at 14:37
our visa approved before around three month ,the massage is for recently approved cases …..
February 15, 2018 at 15:50
Then check the instructions – you must be doing something wrong.
February 14, 2018 at 23:27
Dear Mr. Britsimon,
I am a selectee from Iran and my number is supposed to be current soon.
I do not know whether to enter the interview (if invited) or to save my money as my chances of receiving visa is very very low due to travel ban.
Meanwhile, we Iranians are not different from other parts of the world
that they ban us due to the risk of terrorism.
The Iranian minorities in USA already had many success specially in the State of California that I witness some of my bona fides have resided there for years so far without making any issues. Instead, they have educated, worked, paid taxes and have been small part of advance in that society.
The Iranian and USA governments and were against each other for decades so far but this does not mean that the people of these two nations are also against each other.
Also, we are the people, not the government and we’ve been selected through KCC, not through advise of Iranian government.
An American ill-minded resident usess the fire-arm and murders and injures some innocent people in USA and for protecting these people, Mr. Trump bans Iranians and some other Moslem nations!!!!
Isn’t that rediculous? By this travel ban how can he guarantee that such tragedy will not happen in USA again.
I have already lived and travelled to some countries before such as UK (Wales), UAE, etc.. but have never been in USA before and not getting DV visa of course makes me sad for a while but I can forget it easily.
I just feel a bit sorry about About American residents that are being mischieved by their own selected president and in this case how can you see any difference between USA and a third world country?
In the end, I highly thank you very much as I used your site and your honest information to fill my Ds260 and other document preparation even though it may not lead to my obtaining DV visa.
Best regards
Iranian selectee
February 14, 2018 at 23:31
If you do not have another citizenship, it probably doesn’t make sense to attend the interview while the ban is in place. Even if the ban were lifted tomorrow, there would still be risk because Iranians often get AP lasting 5 or 6 months. So – the reality is, not many Iranians will be approved this year.
February 14, 2018 at 23:51
Salam M.G. Jan,
I am also a selectee from Iran, and I agree with you. The travel ban is ill minded, it spreads hatred and fear, it is disapointing, sadning and it makes me angry and mad. Iraniens in the USA and in Europe are among the highest educated immigrants and not a single terror attac had been commited by an iranian citizen. We are no fanatics. We are doctors, ingenieurs, poets. We did not chose to select our infantil government, however, the American people had that choice- they choose Trump. That said- we are better of moving to the EU or Canada. I decided to not follow through with the process, but I also already got a visa for Canada.
February 15, 2018 at 07:27
Hi Brit, i am looking at the historical visa bulletin table, and it is very strange that DV-2018 cutoff in october was only 2600 cases compared to 2015 with cutoff of 8500. Historically slow year from the beginning. With such slow progress and even denisity slows, it does not look good for Europe..Once you explained the story about the bucket (how quick you fill it), but I don’t think that there will be no time to fill it to the end, because it is dribbeling to long and there is not enough time to fill the bucket. Or the bucket became much smaller than we assumed? Thanks!
February 15, 2018 at 14:59
There was a fundamental change to DS260 processing this year that meant the starting numbers were lower. That in itself is not an indicator that the bucket is smaller. However, I have also posted numerous articles explaining that density of cases is MUCH higher this year, particularly in EU. So – the numbers this year will be lower than I originally expected. Read some more recent articles for more info.
February 15, 2018 at 15:08
I’m going to cry. (really)
February 15, 2018 at 15:13
So, as the numbers this year will be lower than I originally expected, what would be your new “safe line” for EU ?
February 15, 2018 at 17:29
I have already discussed that.
February 15, 2018 at 17:58
Can you please please send us the link? Thank you very much!
February 15, 2018 at 18:55
Please read the recent articles.
February 15, 2018 at 07:29
Uups, wanted to say: bucket bigger…and needs more time to be filled 🙂
February 15, 2018 at 15:00
The size of the bucket is set by law. They don’t have to fill it, but they can’t increase the size.
February 15, 2018 at 09:47
Hi Brit . i appreciate your work..i would like to ask , yesterday i read there is only 5300 visa left for Europe ..is that true ?
February 15, 2018 at 15:12
No.
February 15, 2018 at 10:28
Hi Brit, What do you think any cut of numbers will be for EU region countries or?(Like AF region)
February 15, 2018 at 10:34
cut off*
February 15, 2018 at 15:15
Wait and see.
February 15, 2018 at 13:25
Dear Sir,
Sorry to bother you. As you may know, I was selected for DV18 and added my husband to my case after the results. After the wedding, we asked KCC to open my case so I could add him, which we did : changed my marital status, we created a DS260 for him and got a confirmation for our DS260 (page with bar code) in July 2017.
Our interview at the embassy is next week but this morning, I received a voicemail message from a lady at the embassy saying that she did not receive my husband’s DS260 and that we had to complete it absolutely today, if not, my husband would not be able to attend the interview with me.
When I check my page on the CEAC website, I can see my DS260 wich is completed, his DS260 completed too but a third one appeared for his name with a click button “Start now” (It wasn’t there a few weeks ago).
I tried to call the embassy but it is mission impossible to get somebody on the line, an automatic record says we have to contacte them by email, which I did but got an autoreply saying they will process our demand with 3-4 business days.
So I just called the KCC to asked them if maybe they forgot to send my husband’s DS260 to the embassy. The lady told me there was a problem because when I added my husband to my case (in July 2017), my DS260 was already processed, which could have caused the issue. The lady told me to fill the third DS260 which is available on my ceac.state account. What do you think? I am afraid my husband having 2 DS260 completed could cause a problem at the embassy apointment next week.
I am very very nervous. How would you handle this?
Thanks a lot.
February 15, 2018 at 14:46
Plus, when checking at the CSV file from 2 days ago from Xarthisius data website, my case included only 1 person, but now, its shows 2 persons both ready, the embassy must have done something to my case yesterday or today.
February 15, 2018 at 15:43
I would follow the clear sensible instruction you already had.
February 15, 2018 at 15:58
Thanks for the answer.
That’s what we will do tonight after work.
Should we be nervous about all that?
Sorry to bother, we are so worried because this is our future we are talking about 🙁
February 15, 2018 at 17:23
Relax.
February 15, 2018 at 15:13
hi Simon,
After doing my first entry, the address for the GC stayed the same as the DS260, now I have a new address in a new city but same state, and I have done my final biometrics. Now on my UCIS profile online I found a new option to change both my mailing and physical address, do you know if I changed to my new address would that cause confusion for my GC delivery? also do I need to apply for the SSN since I checked the box on DS260 to send me a new one?
Thanks
February 15, 2018 at 17:30
Don’t change the address at this time.
Apply for the SSN once approved.
February 15, 2018 at 16:32
Hi Simon, today we collected our visa and other sealed documents. Along with it, they give us guideline. From it, I read that “anyone who want to change his address before the arrival of green card and social security number, he must notify the department of homeland security within 10 days.” In our case, our sponsor lives in Rosedale, Maryland but we want to temporarily live in Columbus, Ohio with our brother who have no permanent address because of his asylum case. Is there any problem, if we didn’t give new Columbus address in PoE and keep our original address.
February 15, 2018 at 17:22
As long as the address on your form has someone who can accept the GC for you, that is fine. However, once you are established in the USA, notify USCIS of the change of address.
February 16, 2018 at 13:08
Hi Girmachew
hope you are from Ethiopia can you please write your email address here to share info because I am going to interviewed after 2 months.
thanks
.
February 15, 2018 at 17:58
Hi Simon,
What are the possibilities for changing the US mail address (green card) ? I know I can change the mailing address at the port of entry. Im gonna be living in my firends appartment for a week and than I want to rent my own appartment. So can I change the address via USCIS website while in the US ? What will happen if the green card would be already on the way and I just change the address?
Thank you
February 15, 2018 at 18:55
You must update your address once in the USA, but the GC will normally be sent to the address they had at the POE.
February 15, 2018 at 18:21
Hi Brit again ..can you tell probably how many visas left ? and second question if the limit of visas are over ..what happen then ? I mean let think visas over at 20000..they will continue call peaople for interwiew as formally and refused or what ?
February 15, 2018 at 18:54
There are around 35k visas left.
The system is that KCC releases numbers on the VB to be within the visas they have left. So – that is why some years have a cutoff on the VB at the end of the year.
February 15, 2018 at 19:04
Hi.. you have one of the most thorough and informative sites I have ever seen. Thanks for what you do.
When filing the DS-260 there is a section asking about your travel to the United States-last five trips.
My MIL is the applicant and only has definitive info on her last 3 trips. I am not clear on whether an old passport is lost, but we can’t be certain of dates prior to her last 3 trips.
Not certain how to get her travel info, or if putting 3 trips will do.
February 15, 2018 at 19:12
Estimate the dates for the earlier trips.
You might be able to get some trip info here –
https://i94.cbp.dhs.gov/I94/#/home
February 15, 2018 at 22:14
Thanks for the prompt response.
The dates are so far apart for someone who travels fairly frequently and it would be too far back for her to remember.
Travel dates we have so far are
trip#1-2013
trip#2-2009
trip#3-2006
Then we have a passport showing 1994 and earlier.
I went to that website yesterday but seems like they give travel history for last 5 years. May have to speak with someone there directly.
Am wondering if we should hold up submitting the Application to inquire further.
February 15, 2018 at 22:18
No need to hold it up. Approximate!
February 15, 2018 at 22:19
Hi Brit! 1- My host the one that I put in my ds260 is not the person that will send me the affidavit of support is that a problem?
2- when I filled out the ds260 I was at university but I hadn’t my degree so I put my highest educational level “high school diploma” should I unlock my ds260 and correct ?
February 15, 2018 at 22:25
1. No
2. You can if you are waiting anyway.
February 15, 2018 at 22:38
I am af27xxx but I don’t want to unlock the form is it necessary or I can go to the interview with my university bulletins without put them in the form
February 15, 2018 at 22:54
Unlocking for that won’t cause delay – but you can leave it unchanged if you want.

Hi Brit, by your able guide we made it to the states. I went ahead but returned to my home country in Africa and my hubby went later whilst I was still in Africa. I followed your advice and it has all helped. Most grateful to you.
My question this time is, I am handling some cases of documentation that I have not finished with. I am concerned about the way the US immigration is wild at those DV immigrants who don’t stay in the US to work but keep going and coming. Frankly, that is not what I intend to do. I plan to go and stay for good once I deal with some issues that are pressing in my country and I have to handle them in person.
How long can I stay in my home country before returning to USA? Please note that this is the first time I went. I spent only 3 months there and I have spent 5 months in my home country already since my return to Africa. All I have is my DV visa please.
When should be the latest time to move back to the USA to avoid refusal of entry?
Counting on your usual accurate responses Sir

HI Brit i am a DV 2018 selectee from Ethiopia with case number 207XX. Brit i sent an unlock request to kcc yesterday to correct mistakes. will this delay my interview time? i am asking this because my case number will be current next month
February 16, 2018 at 14:58
No delay.
February 16, 2018 at 13:53
Thank you for your response. Please, how many months precisely? Because, I have heard people mention up to 6 months only so that of I left in August 2017, I should be returning not later than February 2018. I rely rather on your answers regarding DV issues that is why I come to you please.
How many months precisely should I be away?
February 16, 2018 at 15:08
I already said! Up to 12 months.
There is a FAQ about this. Read it!

Hi again! My case is current for April (yay!). I went to ceac to check the status of my DS260 and when I logged in, I got a pop up saying that I need to follow instructions I got from the NVC that list 6 steps I must take before NVC can schedule my interview. I didn’t get this pop up when I used to log in months ago when submitting my DS260’s so i thought it was new instructions, but when I followed the link with instruction, it seems most of the steps are either not applicable or already completed. Do I basically just need to wait to hear from NVC now?
February 16, 2018 at 15:00
Ignore everything about NVC.

Could you also help me with some questions after acquiring the visa? Do I have to stay in the US when I apply for the green card after arriving in the US or can I leave after applying until it arrives.

Hi Simon,
Is it enough if only one sponsor sponsors a DV lottery receipant who has two other derivatives with him? Also, is there any income based criteria for the sponsor(s) to sponsor 3 such people? Many thanks!

Hi Simon – I am in the 2018 lottery on my NZ passport, number coming up in April, been on an E2 visa in the US for 11 years, so am adjusting status. I’m/we’re finalizing the i485 and the other forms and injections etc in advance of sending all the stuff off to Chicago.
My (first!) question is about my wife – she’s British, on an entirely separate E2 visa (we met in the USA) and she actually does not really want the green card… for various reasons.
We’ve been told that if she drops out of/doesn’t enter the process, it may present problems in 2 years when her E2 is next up for renewal (apparently in a ‘you had a chance for a green card and didn’t take it? How dare you’ kind of way!). Do you know or have any opinion on whether this is true? If she’s on a separate E2 visa, would my status even be ‘known’ or relevant?
Many thanks for any thoughts,
Tom

I don’t know.
February 16, 2018 at 19:17
Re my E2 question – no worries, thanks anyway. Prob a pretty specific immigration lawyer kind of question.
One final query and then I shall leave you in peace!
I have tried to find the answer to the following in the forums but unsuccessfully, and apologies if it’s out there, but approximately how long typically is it (currently) between filing all the forms at the start of the month when one is ‘current’ to the actual interview (talking AoS)?
I know it really depends on many things – am just trying to get a feel for whether it’s anything like 6 weeks or 6 months…
Many thanks,
T

There isn’t a “typical” timeline. Cases starting earlier in the year tend to take longer – cases filed later in the year generally move fast.
Best advice is to make sure you take advantage of the early filing policy, then learn what you have to do to chase the FO.

Dear sir..I m from Nepal ..I have couple of questions..
1.I m the principal applicant..my wife”s father has expired 7 years ago…and I mentioned it in DS 260..do I have to submit death certificate?
2.she was born in India ..and lived there until she was 23…she holds citizenship of Nepal …do I have to show police report from India ?
and thanks a lot for your hard work and guidance for all of us..
February 16, 2018 at 18:00
1. No
2. Read the instructions (reciprocity page for India)
February 16, 2018 at 18:03
Hi Brit
Thanks for your great support, I have two questions as following
1- I filed the DS260 for me as principal and for my family and I mentioned they will travel with me but now we changed our mind and decided they will not proceed for the visa so should I unlock the DS260 to update it, or just let them missed the interview and I explain to the co .
2-I mentioned in my educations the high school and university degree and I didn’t mentioned the primary school which is 8 years in my country and I didn’t have the certificate for it, should I unlock the DS260 and mentioned it or it is not necessary as no one can apply for high school without passing the primary school.
February 16, 2018 at 18:45
1. The latter.
2. Not needed.
February 16, 2018 at 20:01
Hi Simon,
My number is current for April (status: in Transit – region: EU) so the 2nd NL should come very soon. 🙂
I’m preparing the package for the interview, and I’m little bit confused about the police cert. I have been in the U.S. since 2012 (F1 visa) and according to the embassy instructions I should proved police cert from every country where I lived more than 6 months. I searched on the Internet, but I couldn’t find any information if I need a police cert from the U.S.. I contacted a police dep. and they said there is no police cert available. Could you please help me if I need to provide police cert. from the U.S. where can I get it?
Also, regarding the affidavit support form… The company where I work under my OPT wants to hire me once I have my green card. Is it okay if they write a letter that they have job offer for me? Or I will still need a sponsor (one of my friends – I don’t have ny Family members located in the U.S.)
Thank you so so much!
February 16, 2018 at 20:27
No police certs needed for USA.
You can use the job offer at the interview.

February 16, 2018 at 20:36
1. Depends on the embassy. https://britsimonsays.com/all-about-public-charge-affidavit-of-support-i-134/
2. Only if they instruct you to do so.

Hi brit,
Thank you very much for everything you post in this website.
I have a high case number SA200X and I have to wait a while to find out if I would get an interview. But i was checking my ds-260 (that I completed last year, July) and find out two things:
1.- I mentioned in my educations the university career degree and I didn’t mentioned the high school (for some reason I thought to put what I complete in my application form), should I unlock the DS260 to add my high school or I can bring to the interview my high school diploma in case they ask for it?
2.- My birth certificate show my address like, the county/ municipality, state and country (it doesn’t show the city) and my passport shows the city, state and country. I completed my ds260 with my passport information, should I unlock my ds260?
Thank you very much,
Kindly regards.
February 16, 2018 at 21:35
No need to unlock.

hi sir, me and my husband from IRAN won dv2018, we are preparing our doc to our interview on march, and now we read on the importance announcement on the 8 nationality from the site “travel.state.gov”(Court Order on Presidential Proclamation on Visas (November 13, 2017)),
do we have a chance to meet our interview and get approval visa?? any idea? Appreciated.
February 16, 2018 at 21:57
Unless you have dual nationality, you will probably not get the visa at this time.
Your best solution is to wait and hope the travel ban is removed, and if it is – reschedule the interview.
