mr simon
we have a chat for lottery winner and i know case numbers
i calculated the number of people from egypt that have a CN between 16400 to 18300 is 25 persons who single and with family
so this number is big and the next VB can’t reach till 18300
March 16, 2018 at 19:28
How did you know that 25 cases from Egypt exist between 16400 and 18300? And if this is correct, why can’t they reach 18300 in the next bulletin? Cairo capacity is supposed to be about 100 cases monthly, correct?
March 17, 2018 at 22:45
this 25 not the accuracy number but this people that i know in the chat and sure many of them with his family not single
cairo capacity supposed 200+ as i know

Hi Simon,my wife and child are not immigrating with me now.I attended the medicals at (IOM) Kathmandu alone, Do I have to inform the embassy that my wife and child are not going to attend the interview?
March 16, 2018 at 17:21
You can do if you want. I hope you understand it will be expensive and slow (years) when you want to bring them later.
March 16, 2018 at 17:25
Thanks Sir for your prompt reply…I know…but no other choice 🙁
March 16, 2018 at 17:31

Hello BritSimon,
Thank you for all your help. I have two questions.
1. I have two kids and at the time of filling in the DS260 they did not have passports. I am in the process of applying for them. Once I get the passports must I request for DS260 to be unlocked to key in the passport numbers?
2. I have never met my mom, do not know her where abouts but her names appear on my birth certificate. My dad passed on sometime back. In the DS260 section on mothers names I indicated “Do not know” despite them being on my birth certificate. My reasoning simply was I do not know where she is or whether she is alive. The DS 260 has an option of either dead or alive, and if alive address is required. Is this an issue?
Sorry if you have already answered these in the past but couldn’t get anything in the FAQ.
Thanks, Peter AF36xxx
March 17, 2018 at 18:46
1. It’s not a must – but doing so would be better. and won’t cause a delay.
2. So you know your mothers name. I suggest you correct that – and in the address you can put unknown. That is more accurate.
March 18, 2018 at 03:35
Thank you for your response. 1. Passports, will do so as soon as I have them.
2. I only know her names coz they are in my birth certificate nothing further. Unfortunately, in the DS 260 there’s no option of unknown in the “dead/alive” section which would mean I indicate “alive ” (for a fact I do not know her whereabouts and whether she’s alive or not) in the section then input address unknown.

Brit, I have a general question that is for once not related with my disapointment of this year. I keep wondering why KCC overselects people, knowing that they must have figured out by now what could be the “about right numer”. Dor example just as many selectees as in DV17, first and second draw. A few were left without, but generally, if you werent put on AP, you were lucky. So, i wondered, dont you think that it IS actually the case that KCC each year draws the same amount of people, that just in some years, they have less deritatives to start with then in other years, resulting in either more, or less overall selectees? Since the computer just picks entries without looking at how many people are behind a case? That is the only explenation I have, because otherwise, I feel like correctly adjusting the lottery winners should not behard for KCC to do and there is no reason why they should massivly overselect.
March 16, 2018 at 18:11
I don’t really know. They seem to be on 2 year cycles of over and underselecting. Like we have discussed many times – the make up of the entries shifts. Politics shift, educational standards shift and so on. It may just be that they overselect to mitigate against the chance that they “waste” visas from one year to the next. But – I’ve never really understood the reason, and believe me – I, and many others, have spent countless hours trying to understand.
March 16, 2018 at 18:23
yes, but then again, they diside to “waste” visas when stopping progress like in DV15 in AF region were they just underfilled. Or maybe EU region this year if they continue moving slow. I feel that there must be a logic behind this. Overselecting to not “waste” any visas and then deciding to not give out all visas, like happened in AF region or maybe this year EU region is just against all logic. There must be a reasoning behind this. The only thing I can think of is that the computer selects- and KCC has no influence on deritatives. The 2 year circle also has no logic- why would they do that? It is obviously more stressful for everyone involved. Embassies deal with frustrated APlers, KCC gets calls from concerend high numbers, and overall, there are stressed out selectees. i dont think a “2 year circle” makes any sense, it would really be beyond all logic. It must be the computer selecting people with more deritives in overselected years, and their software cant conrol it.
March 16, 2018 at 18:32
OF COURSE their software can control it! We see the evidence of the software to stop at very precise points, to stop countries early, to handle country limits on countries with massively different derivative ratios being limited in ways that show they FULLY understand the derivative situation, and even evidence of the software cutting off at a specific family point to get as close as possible to rounded numbers. It’s very controlled. It’s a decision – clearly. But – we don’t know the reasoning for the decision.
March 16, 2018 at 18:02
Dear Sir,
Couıd you repost the link of the number of DV winners 2018 and the countries they belong to. The old link in your blog does not work

europe best place to live life i dont know way most people selected from EU wanna leave europe.
March 16, 2018 at 19:18
So – I assume you were not selected then?
March 17, 2018 at 21:06
welcome to Uzbekistan, Ukraine, Moldova, Belorussia and Russia…they are not Holland or Germany
March 18, 2018 at 11:25
Uzbekistan is located in Asia not Europe ?
March 18, 2018 at 11:57
Welcome to Albania then! ?
March 18, 2018 at 18:06
I know what you mean. There are several countries in EU that you would never leave to live in USA. But there are also many, which you would like to leave as soon as you have oportunity. And ofc some in the middle. What I wanted to point is that country with probably most issued visas for EU region is located in… Asia.
March 16, 2018 at 19:41

My case number 2018AS62XX according to visa bulletin my CN will be scheduled for May but I did not receive my 2NL yet.what should I do?
Best wished
March 16, 2018 at 20:54
Wait.
March 16, 2018 at 21:31
Hello Brit, can a principal applicant go for the interview alone if the derivative spouse falls ill and wants to migrate later after both ds 260 forms have been processed and their interview scheduled?
March 16, 2018 at 21:47
Yes – but the derivative won’t get the DV visa – and they will have to go through a slow and expensive process.
March 16, 2018 at 21:40
Hi,
My family case is under AP for already 40 days, but today, only for my son it is changed to “Ready”. Does it mean we should expect ours also will be solved soon? or it was only because my son is just 17 years old and no career for background check.
Any idea?
March 16, 2018 at 21:48
No – all I can suggest is that you remain patient and check again next week.
March 16, 2018 at 21:49
Hello brit.thanks for your enless help. Cameroon embassy does not need affidavit of support but someone advised that since I am going with my little girl, the co may want to know how I will be able to take , care of her so may asked for affidavit. Do u think if it is asked and I don’t have, will I be put on ap?
March 16, 2018 at 21:54
If they ask for additional proof and you don’t have it, yes they will put you on AP. As to whether they will ask for the I-134 – I don’t know – but if you can, get one!
March 16, 2018 at 22:37
Nams I’m in Cameroon too , and it’s preferable as Simon said to overprepare. Just have every document available. I’m traveling with a child too. God bless us.
March 18, 2018 at 18:57
Hello naMs am from cameroon will be interviewed by may wanted to knw if they can ask me my form i-134 and also to know some sample questions thanks
March 16, 2018 at 22:01
I have takled to five COs from five diffrent US embassies today and none of them was surprised about slow process. Independently their answer was the left hand doesnt know what the right does, conflicting guidlines, misunderstandings, poor management, no leadership, people leaving, tillerson fired. No one was suprised that less interviews are being scheduled. It is a constant roller coaster there these days.
March 17, 2018 at 04:29

Make sure you read the instructions and the country reciprocity pages. If you do that, you will know the answers.
March 17, 2018 at 11:16
Hello Simon, I’m a winner of the 2018 lottery. I have already done the interview at the consulate of Naples on March 7th, unfortunately they did not give me an answer on the release of the visa because they requested other documents. I did not graduate, so I brought documentation related to the job. I have submitted an official declaration from the employer that certifies how much I work for the company, the sector and the qualification, and I had prepared a report with the tasks I performed within the company. Consular officials have asked me for documentation that proves that I have paid the taxes and the continuity of the employment relationship for the last 5 years, the paycheck and the list of refresher courses, also wanted me to do a report of my own work path up to specialization. I sent all the documents on March 12th and until March 15th on my CEAC results in “administrative process”, on the 15th afternoon it was changed to “ready”. Can you tell me what this change of state means? What do you think of my case, in what time could it be resolved? Thank you in advance, and I wish you a good day.
March 17, 2018 at 14:34
Same answer as yesterday. https://britsimonsays.com/ask-questions/comment-page-209/#comment-106520

March 17, 2018 at 14:29
No updates.
March 17, 2018 at 11:36
Hi Simon,
Thank you for maintaining this blog and helping people like me navigate the DV process with ease. I have a question pertaining to my case and would greatly appreciate your guidance.
My case number is 2018OC8xx and am arranging all documents for the interview in May. In addition to my home country police certificate, I also need to apply one for Singapore (Certificate of Clearance).
The reciprocity page for SIngapore states that a form letter from the requesting/processing office (NVC, KCC, Embassy, employer etc.) is required to obtain a Certificate of Clearance (COC). It further states that non-Singapore citizens must also submit a copy of the letter along with the checklist letter from NVC.
While the form letter is available on the travel.state.gov website, I am stumped as to the checklist from NVC. Would you be able to advise what this checklist is?
Many thanks in advance!
March 17, 2018 at 14:28
There isn’t a checklist.
March 17, 2018 at 14:54
do we have spreadsheets like the data from dv18 also from dv15?
March 17, 2018 at 14:55
Yes. I have published many of them.
March 17, 2018 at 15:10
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1DU_iXj4WorqPJo0eF8q2Pc78zuUdvzhHdR7WMbee9K8/edit#gid=5810164
i found it here, but i cant find the information i am looking for…Also, I have difficulties understanding the density chart from dv15 compared to dv18. What I wanted to know is diffucult to describe. I try it anyways. DV18 will hit a new density level next months. After the given numbers of visas issued in dv18, at the same number of visas issued in dv15, was the remaining density in 15 higher or lower then in 18, or about the same? With that density, let it be lower, higher or about the same, how many cases have been scheduled?
We see big jumps in dv15. These jumps in dv18 from now until the end could see numbers around 34xxx. What I dont know is, if these jumps in dv15 were only possible because density in these number ranges were even lower then the decreased density in dv18 (After18xxx).
know what i mean?
March 17, 2018 at 15:13
basically: after the visas issued and cases scheduled as they are in dv18, is density for the remaining process still significantly higher then at the same point of visas issued in dv15?
March 17, 2018 at 15:23
You are welcome to go and check the previous data. But honestly while DV2015 and other years can inform us how things move (and I have used that data in my thought process), DV2018 is its own year.
March 17, 2018 at 15:26
i wanted to check but couldnt see it, or was a bit confused on how the data was presented. I know dv18 is its own year, but still, we can see that huge jumps are possible. however, if these huge jumps contained far less cases then they would this year, it is even more unlikely.
March 17, 2018 at 16:08
@Rxy I took a liberty of converting of Simon’s xlsx file for DV15 to a chart. Results are here: https://dvcharts.xarthisius.xyz/ceacFY15.html
March 17, 2018 at 18:58
That was very kind of you dude. Thanks!
March 17, 2018 at 19:39
thanks a lot! that doesnt look good…
March 17, 2018 at 20:04
What exactly doesn’t look good????
March 17, 2018 at 20:18
not good for high cns i mean. Well, even in high case numbers the density in dv15 was lower. I was hoping to see a few “big jumps” in the upcoming 4 months. DV15 had a few such “jumps” from 4-5k numbers. now, having the chart infront of me, the likelyhood of that happening, at least 4k jumps, kinda decrased. Also, it seems that the response rate is higher this year, from what we can see so far, but defenitly in the early numbers.
March 17, 2018 at 21:36
Nothing of what you mention is news – nothing changed. I have told you many times that the density is different this year than other years – and we have known this for months. The final cutoff in DV2015 for EU was 43050 (corrected from earlier comment) so *obviously* that needed some bigger jumps to get there. Again – this year is different. Regarding response rate – again – that is different based on the condensed numbers for Uzbekistan in particular (which also skewed the derivative rate in the early numbers). My point is – this is not about a simplistic comparison – and even if we knew everything (which we don’t), we would still have to W & S.
March 17, 2018 at 21:53
the final cut of in dv15 was over 40xxxx. Obviously there needed to be bigger jumps. If you were actually reading my message correctly instead of saying “ah, well, everyone who didnt study this as well as i did has no clue” you might had understood that I talked about a LIKELYHOOD of jumps, and not a certainty. And also, we knew that density is higher this year, but also we knew that density drops in higher numbers. I simply wanted to have a look at the density in high numbers this year, and in dv15. If that is no news for you- fine, but I dont care. For me, seing that there is still a significant difference is news, and that is all that counts on my side. As to the response rate- what counts at the end is that it was lower in 15, as far as we can see for now. Whether the reason is condensed numbers in Uzbekistan or a landing on the moon is actually not very relevant for me. I was pointing out an increased response rate earlier, but you called it “utter rubbish”. So I think that my initial statement that it doesnt look so good is fair enough, and, since we already knew this, you are welcome to then just leave it uncommented.
March 17, 2018 at 22:40
I think the best idea is for you to just sit back for a couple of months and see what happens. You are seeing what you want to see and usually picking the negative side out of the data without stopping to consider the differences. Really – at this point your frustration isn’t helping anyone.
March 17, 2018 at 15:35

Posh brit to check ceac status my case status is AP which meansAp? Please Dear Brit iam worrid brief the meaning of AP which date recived stamped passport & packed document.
March 17, 2018 at 18:52

Hi
who knows which of these two the US embassy Ankara prefers more ( I-134 form or Bank statement)???
Thanks
March 17, 2018 at 21:37
Hi Brit, I have submitted DS-260 and provided the address and name of person where I intend to go. But the person which will make the form I-134 affidavit support on behalf of me is not the one I have provided on Ds-260. He lives in another state of Us. Am I risking my case or it’s not a problem !!!
March 17, 2018 at 22:44
No problem.
March 18, 2018 at 03:18
Dear Brit,
My visa interview date is on 4th April.
As per the local consular instruction, I need to submit my passport and original civil documents with photo copy two weeks before interview date to embassy drop box.
My question is –
1) do I need to included the I-134 two weeks before interview date ?
Or
2) submit I-134 with W2 etc on date of interview ?
Thanks for your help.
March 18, 2018 at 04:22

March 18, 2018 at 04:36
Hi brit,
I’m also edv winner 2018 and my interview held on february 22 and my visa is refushed , undersection 212(a)4 becouse my sponsor´s income is not sufficient ( not meet 125% poverty guideline ) some mony he earn cash, so can I show his cash value? and how to possible get visa ? otherwise how can I get visa ? pls sir addvise me.
Thank you
March 18, 2018 at 05:10
What embassy was that? Did you use an I-134? They are applying the wrong standard on the amount of income.
March 18, 2018 at 05:26
I don’t use an I-134, embassy told me that proof your sponser income statement, and I informed my sponsor but he has not sufficient income (1200 per month) it is not meet to poverty guideline so can I join the co- sponsor or not ? and how can I get visa ??
March 18, 2018 at 15:21
1200 per month is FAR too low to meet poverty guidelines. It’s unfortunate you didn’t research that before the interview. Now you have been refused – and I don’t believe they will reconsider your case. Your opportunity is gone.
March 18, 2018 at 04:43
how many visa that give for egypt ??
March 18, 2018 at 07:35
2018 will be curnet
March 18, 2018 at 08:54
All regions?:)
March 18, 2018 at 15:24
Wrong.
March 18, 2018 at 10:12
Hello Brit,
I got married yesterday. The DS260 was unlocked since 1 month, like you advised us. This morning I have added me on it, so it’s up to date. Could you please confirm me:
– It never asked me to upload the wedding certificate, or any wedding certificate number. I suppose it’s normal. Can you confirm me that, if you know?
– I just had to “save” the DS260. Don’t I have to send en email to KCC, or to make something else?
Thanks 🙂
March 18, 2018 at 10:23
Lionel , even though I’m not supposed to answer for Mr.Simon ( forgive me sir) but you’ll need to upload a marriage certificate if you’re adding yourself as a spouse. That’s what I did. Once adding there’s a pop-up page for you to add proof of relationship.
March 18, 2018 at 10:55
What country are you from ? Maybe the popup appears on certain “risky” countries…?
March 18, 2018 at 11:04
Cameroon. It’s not a pop-up per se…It’s à page that opens when you have to add any family member that wasn’t on the initial entry.
By the way are there any Cameroonian s in this house?
March 18, 2018 at 11:08
It just asked my name, date of birth, address and working field, nothing else, nothing to upload.
March 18, 2018 at 12:40
yes am a cameroonian
March 18, 2018 at 13:40
Clovisky , how far with your stuff. I heard it’s so difficult to make passports now. Do you have any idea how I can get one?

No – did you add a spouse using add applicant or not???
March 18, 2018 at 15:46
She changed her statut from single to married. Then she had to fill my personal information (name, date of birth, employment, wedding date). They asked if I was going to come with her. And that’s it! Does she has has to do something else?
March 18, 2018 at 16:51
Yes, as you have been told at least twice. She needs to “add applicant” and create a DS260 for you. THEN you will be prompted for a wedding cert.
March 18, 2018 at 15:35
That’s a correct answer! Thanks
March 18, 2018 at 19:38
I’m so glad I could help! You’re too kind Mr. Simon. Thank you.
March 18, 2018 at 15:30
When you add the DS260 for the new spouse you should be prompted to add the wedding cert. Did you add a DS260 as well as make changes to your own???

Hi Simon
How are you doing?
Its been around 8 months that i am at home town after first activation of green card at September 2017. I am planning to enter USA again on coming July for 15 days. Due to some reason at home i will not able to stay at USA for couple of years may be 1 or 2 years.
1) Can i able to apply for absence of 1 or more years this time when i will go USA.?.
2) Now i am at my home town , Can i able to apply for absence from my home town?
Thank you for your response.
March 18, 2018 at 15:40
1. Apply for a re-entry permit – I-131
2. No.
March 19, 2018 at 01:28
Thank you for your response
As you said that
” first absence after initial entry it is quite common to return to the home country for a period of time to tie up loose ends. That period can be up to 12 months without a problem.
Normally absences should be under 6 months, but the first absence is treated as an exception. After that point absences of up to 6 months will be treated as normal, and absences between 6 and 12 months are possible but you can expect questioning at the POE for those longer absences.”
My first entry for activation of status was on September 2017. I stayed at USA for a month and return my home town. Now i am planning reenter USA again on June 2018 ( Nearly after 9 months).
Questions;
1) Do you need to apply for re-entry permit , I-131 from my home town or not?
2) If 1-131 not need at this time, Do i need to already to answer the cross questions at POE.
Thank you
March 19, 2018 at 02:40
1. No
2. Answer any questions truthfully.

Dear Simon, thank you once again for your support. We gave birth after we collected our visa. As per your direction, we first contacted all airlines here in ETHIOPIA whether they carry a baby without visa or travel authorization. They said no. Then, we mailed the embassy and they replied that we can come back from Monday to Thursday at 11 having all of our passports, visa package, birth certificate for child and 330 USD or equivalent. We moved and did interview for the child. Then, they confused whether we pay, process Ds230 and the like. Finally, the consular officer told us that the baby can travel with travel authorization only and no payment. For the movement, we have to conduct medical and 2 photographs for her and send via DHL. We did them successfully. Now, it passed 10 days
1) what is the purpose of holding our visa until they finalize TA for the child(is it normal?)
2) Do you think the process takes many more time like those put in AP?
3) What if our visa expires while in the hands of the embassy, will it be renewed?
4) Did u hear similar story out there and if so, what was the ending?
Thank you for devoting your time. I know some of my questions sound silly for you but emerge out of worry.
March 18, 2018 at 15:50
1. I don’t know.
2. Not normally
3. No
4. Other people just pick up a travel authorization. It sounds like your case was misunderstood.
March 18, 2018 at 16:13
Hi Mr. Simon,
Thank you for all that valuable effort and support. I’d like to ask you how can I change my destination for the first entry in the states “after the interview” ?
Thank you Sir
March 18, 2018 at 16:49
You don’t need to inform anyone – you just arrive. If you need to change the address where the GC will be sent – you can do that at the arrival airport (POE)
March 25, 2018 at 00:49
Thank you Sir
