Hi britsimon first i would like to say thanks for everything u r helping us . my question is my case is scheduled for 31,2018 so as i am from before how many days i have to be in kenanya? now long it takes for medical check up ,coz my visa to kenya is for one month only nd after the interview afor how many days i stay? my case number is AF000247d ** and i need u to tell me opportunity for visa ?thanx again.
April 26, 2018 at 14:24
Ask the physician how long before the interview they need. If a visa is issued immediately, that usually takes a week or two after the interview, but it could last longer.
April 26, 2018 at 08:24

Hi brit
Can a principal applicant appeal to a Consular Section in a case of refusal for a dv case ?
I want to use my lawyer to appeal .if I have the right to appeal what is the procedure to appeal
April 26, 2018 at 14:20
There is no right of appeal or procedure.
April 26, 2018 at 13:32
hi brit, my sponsor filled and send me an affidavit of support with all her financial pay, tax returns and wage..etc…..is that enough for the embassy or do I still need a confirmation of my personal bank account statement at the time of interview?
April 26, 2018 at 14:19
Take “more” than you need.
April 26, 2018 at 19:02
Hello Brit,
In case you have a CN that becomes current say for example EU 20000 which is current for June 2018 and you have submitted ds260 in time does it necessarily mean that you will be called for interview within June 2018?
Thanks
April 26, 2018 at 19:26
Usually.
April 26, 2018 at 21:33

April 26, 2018 at 21:46
Interviews are scheduled based on case numbers. So – what is your region/case number range?
April 28, 2018 at 14:48

April 27, 2018 at 02:22
Hello brit I’m in the f2b immigration category and i recently had a baby. My interview date is may 10 2018 but my baby wasn’t added as a derivative based on the fact he wasn’t born yet. What do i do?
April 27, 2018 at 02:58
I only answer DV lottery questions.
April 27, 2018 at 08:39
Dear simo
My first entry I was mention one chile, but during DS-260 I left his Application form and now it is status is not started because I don’t want to apply him for visa, so I got appointment letter and they mention his name on the appointment letter so are they ask me?
April 27, 2018 at 13:56
You married a Chile? Wow, that’s a spicy marriage.
You don’t have to get a visa for the pepper, the 2NL has the names from the original entry.
April 27, 2018 at 11:51
Hello , I asked a question few weeks ago but I didn’t write all the details
I had my interview almost 50 days ago and since then my application is under AP but at my interview (I was going with my wife ) my wife couldn’t continue her interview because her finger is injured so the consul interviewed me and then told okay everything is good but I can’t issue you a visa without finishing your wife’s interview as well but don’t worry , once your wife’s finger is healed contact us so we can interview her and you don’t even have to come you can leave your passport here or bring it with her it’s up to you. We contacted them after my wife was ready for interview but the employees who respond say that my application appear to be under AP so we have to wait till it’s over , but I think the consul put me under AP just until my wife finish her interview so he can give final decision then.
I explained this to the employees but they refuse to ask the consul if what I am saying is correct they also refuse to let me speak with anyone they keep telling me that I have to wait they see on the system I am under AP and that’s it.
It’s been 50 days and nothing new , also I had a US visa before I lived there for a yea I got a pilot license from the US and I got another pilot license from EU I have an EU resdince permit. I think they don’t need any background check on me because anyway they did give me a visa before and to get a pilot license they do a lot of background check they have all the information about me , I am sure the employees are wrong but I can’t contact or reach any american consul in the embassy to explain my situation to him.
So my question is what can I do ? Is there anything I can do to contact a consul ? I am afraid to contact the KCC then they might have a problem with the embassy and then I will get refused by the embassy
Please help me thank you very much for your time and for everything you do to help us
April 27, 2018 at 13:53
1. Causing this chaos because of an injured finger was a really silly decision on your part!
2. You pilots background check has nothing to do with the process.
3. Contact the embassy. Email, letter, phonecall, visit. Any or all of those. You can also contact KCC.
April 27, 2018 at 15:45
Thanks for replying , 1-I didn’t cause the chaos the consul decided it’s not possible to take my wife’s finger prints like that , my wife was with me there at my interview but he told me to let her come again after Her finger is ready .
2- I just meant that they have a lot of info about me I wouldn’t think they require more than 50 days doing background check they gave me a 1 year visa already before
3- I contacted the embassy via email and phone calls but it’s the same person who answer both and she refuse to let me talk with a consul or even she ask a consul.
So my left option is to contact the KCC but I will wait one more week before that maybe something will change.
Thank you again for taking the time to respond to me
April 27, 2018 at 16:18
1. OK so she HAD her interview – they just couldn’t complete biometrics! That is very different to what you have said. You are probably just on AP. Once AP is cleared, if they want to issue the visa, they will need her biometrics.
2. One thing has nothing to do with the other.
3. Actually I think you just need to be patient.
April 27, 2018 at 13:09

April 27, 2018 at 13:58
How far with Trump and his people on the talks of the future of DV lottery. Are they still talking or its been dropped?
April 27, 2018 at 13:59
Dropped for now.
April 27, 2018 at 16:30
I think it is really a good news.We pray it gets dropped forever for some of us who keep hoping that one day we will win the lottery.
April 27, 2018 at 16:36

April 27, 2018 at 19:34

2. 3 weeks is OK.
April 27, 2018 at 16:45
Hi Mr Brit when I went for my interview the consular ask to provide additional evidence of our marriage and DNA test.
I went for my DNA samples collection appointiment with the additional evidence of our marriage but no one ask of it, so I decided to show it to them and the one taking the sample said that the most important thing on my case is the DNA.
The DNA RESULTS is out with 99.99% probability index
Up to now I have not heard any thing from the embassy yet and it makes me little bit nervous because of the timing
April 27, 2018 at 16:51
Paternity index 99.99% rather, the alleged father cannot be excluded as the biological child of…….since the share genetic makers from the above analysis

Hi Simon
I have one question for you, my children have not had citizenship card due to the age under 18 years according to the rules to my country I will not able to get it for them. But the citizenship card included that documents should be brought at my interview, so what can I do?
Thanks
April 27, 2018 at 19:32
Take whatever documents they have.
April 27, 2018 at 20:47
Hello Brit
A question..
Do you think that a person who has written differently the mailing address and the level of education in the registration form of October and the DS260 is a reason for disqualification?
For example. in the October registration form
In the question of the postal address
Residential La Villa
Street 3 House 12
And in the DS260
Residential La Villa
3rd Street, Lot 12-13
And the question of the level of education reached until today.
in the October registration form
High School degree
And in the DS260
University degree
April 27, 2018 at 21:19
No problem.
April 28, 2018 at 07:08

Hi Mister Simon

April 28, 2018 at 10:31
Hi brit;
Thanks for the help, we finally entered the US via logan int airport. But here comes my question.
The CBP officer work on us & and remained with all our sealed documents but he stamped an “admitted stamp” into our passports, now we are waiting for out green cards. Do they send the green cards immediately or takes some time? We paid them on 23 march, will it take long to arrive at our address?
Secondly we were not given any thing to confirm that we are legally accepted to be in USA, only an admitted stamp, is that okay?
April 28, 2018 at 14:47
1. Varies, but can be 3 or 4 months.
2. Yes
April 28, 2018 at 12:19
Hi, BritSimon. Regarding SA region’s quota calculated for this year (around 1500 visas), does it include the AoS cases or are they apart?
April 28, 2018 at 14:45
They are counted toward the 1500
April 28, 2018 at 13:05
Dear Brit,
Hope you have a good day. I am a DV lottery winner and I have some questions for you:
1- After landing in the united states for the first time, how could I get my social security number?
A- Do they send it automatically to the mailing address I gave?
B- Or should I go somewhere and apply for it?
2- Should I wait inside the united states until I get my social security number or green card or can I lesve before that?
3- How long does it take approximately to get the social security numbr?
Thank you in advance for your kind reply.
April 28, 2018 at 14:44
1, Usually it is sent automatically, but if it doesn’t arrive within 3 weeks you go to the SSA office.
2. No need to wait.
3. See 1
April 28, 2018 at 15:11
Hi Simon, I am the winner of the green card and recently I received 2NL for a June interview. I myself, my wife and 19 years old daughter is planning to enter USA in August. My question is: My daughter has to return to our home country immediately without waiting for her Green Card to arrive our address in USA. Can we get her green card or does she have to wait and get her green card personally? Thanks again for this fantastic web site.
April 28, 2018 at 18:40
She doesn’t have to wait for the GC itself.
April 28, 2018 at 16:14
i have 3 questions:
1. Is it possible to be selected for DV2019 with old photo that is not different from my current appearance and I used the same photo for DV2018?
2. Is it possible for Iranian to get the Green card after winning or not?
3. When will the results of DV2019 be announced?
Thank you.
April 28, 2018 at 18:39
1. You meaning re-using an old photo. There is some risk. .
2. At this time, not unless the person has a second nationality.
3. May 15
April 29, 2018 at 09:19
Hi Britsimon,
Do you mean that Iranian who won the DV2018 are all refused in the interviews?
April 29, 2018 at 14:33
Well, they cannot be approved…
April 28, 2018 at 20:38
I have a question to ask
1. Is there some risk if at the embassy u change your host rather than the one u filled on ds260?
April 29, 2018 at 00:23
No
April 28, 2018 at 22:34
hi simon
i wonder if the address where you receive your green card and the address of the sponsor are not the same can cause a probleme the day of the interview . can the consol ask about that ? and how should i answer . thank’s
April 29, 2018 at 00:23
It is no problem. Answer whatever is real.
April 29, 2018 at 01:54
Hello,1–is there any way how they can identify whether the photo is old or new ?2—does the photo need to be at least 6 months when registering for DV lottery? Thanks
April 29, 2018 at 02:58
The photo should be recent. The instructions are clear. If your appearance has changed they might consider your photo is old.
April 29, 2018 at 05:04
Hi Simon, Thank you so much for your helpful!
Is it problem if i have diabetic? Should I bring to the medical tests some papers from my doctor?

Ok!!!
Thanks !!!
April 29, 2018 at 11:54
Hi Dear Brit
Tnx for the informations u’re sharing with us, when stydying data provided by xarthisius, i didn’t know the reason why there are still so many low case numbers (like AS392, AS505…) at NVC? are they going to get their 2NL in remaining months or they’re just not responsed to their 1NL?
April 29, 2018 at 14:31
They have not sent their DS260. Some might later, some won’t.
April 29, 2018 at 18:43
Hi brit i am from turkey and i have case number EU30xxx and i want to know that can i take a interwiev or not ? Cut off numbers are very low i am worried about that if you can give your idea i will be happy thanks u.
April 30, 2018 at 02:48
Your number has some risk – so wait and see.
April 29, 2018 at 20:28
Hello. Can the DV visa be extended if my child was sick and my wife stayed with him. I entered on time as the primary applicant.
April 30, 2018 at 02:39
No. If they miss the visa expiry date, they will lose the visa and it will take 2 years to apply again.
April 30, 2018 at 05:21
But I can apply them through me immediately?
April 30, 2018 at 05:25
Once you are in the USA, you can start – but you should expect it to take a long time.
April 30, 2018 at 16:59
Yeah, I saw the expected processing times in the state I will be in. If they apply for the lottery again, does that mean I cannot apply for them through alien relative petition simultaneously?
April 30, 2018 at 17:24
No.
April 30, 2018 at 06:44
I want to know about edv visa, Unfortunately my visa date was expired . now any way to renew that visa plz help.
April 30, 2018 at 13:48
There is no way that I know of. Speak to the embassy to be certain.
April 30, 2018 at 09:57
Hello BritSimon
One quick question please. What is the difference between “In Transit” status and “Transfer in Progress” in CEAC Data
and how come there are “In Transit” cases for early case numbers at this point of the process still. (I thought the In Transit was to signal the case was moving from KCC to the Embassy to be scheduled ?)
April 30, 2018 at 13:47
Transfer is when the case was scheduled and the selectee asks to move to another embassy.
If someone with a low number delays submitting their DS260, their interview will be late.
April 30, 2018 at 14:32
Thanks for the clarification. So is it correct to consider case numbers with status ready but a status update date prior to Feb 2018 (as of today) as people who forfeited their visas by not showing to their interviews ? Is there a way to reschedule an interview once the scheduled date has passed ?
April 30, 2018 at 15:57
They can reschedule, so although most will not reschedule, you cannot assume they have “forfeited” their visas.
April 30, 2018 at 11:03
hello BRIT ! i asked the question about not getting yet the interview date scheduled for a 2018 winner … and you clearly answered that….Interviews are scheduled based on case numbers. So – what is your region/case number range? … here is mine DKR2018AF00040106 (senegal dakar)
April 30, 2018 at 13:44
That number is not current yet.

April 30, 2018 at 16:55
mr simon
Q1:how many percent that family from egypt will have interview soon enter AP ?
Q2:IF a family enter AP,they can lose their visa after 30/9 or end of dv2018?
April 30, 2018 at 17:25
1. I don’t know the current numbers.
2. No visas for DV2018 can be approved after September 30, 2018
April 30, 2018 at 17:44
Hello Brit,
Please I have a couple of questions.
1. I have been put on AP since January. But I observed that my status was updated on 23rd March after I had submitted a document the embassy had requested. It was updated again on 29th March and lastly, 29th April. But in all of these updates status still remains AP. Please is it a bad sign or a good one?
2. Once AP is cleared, how long does it take to have a visa number allocated to you.
Thank you.
April 30, 2018 at 17:59
1. Neither good nor bad. You cannot guess what is happening because of the updates. \
2. It can take a few weeks.
April 30, 2018 at 18:52
Mu case number is AF 48000 ,i need to renew my passport so is it possible to unlock then my ds 260 and my new pass details?or it is a risk to delay my interview and may result not processing my form?Thank you sir.
April 30, 2018 at 19:00
Unlocking won’t cause delay.
April 30, 2018 at 19:32
Dear Simon,
I have one question. I have my interview soon. i was reading about the police record. I apply for DV Lottery as a Venezuelan citizen and I´m living here since I was born, but I have the Spanish nationality too. So, my question is:
1. ¿Do I need the 2 police records (Venezuela and Spain) or only with the Venezuelan one is enough?
April 30, 2018 at 22:04
Venezuelan one is enough
April 30, 2018 at 20:08
Hi britsam. Can i qualify throgh diploma instead of high school?
April 30, 2018 at 22:04
Diploma in basket weaving? Be clear.
April 30, 2018 at 22:17
Hi Simon, Thanks for this page. I have used it very successfully but right now I am stuck. I have received notification that our interview has been scheduled. I went to print out our you are a winner letter but have lost my confirmation number. I thought no problem and clicked on forgot number. It does not work. I have a simple name and there is really no room for error. Yet it just keeps coming back that my information is invalid. It seems insane that this could stop us getting a visa. Thanks
April 30, 2018 at 22:32
I have no special trick. Study the required information carefully.
May 1, 2018 at 01:19
Dear Brit
may God bless you in everything you do. My interview is on 05.03.2018
I just realize my sponsor didn’t send his certificate of naturalization alone with the AOS. I have contacted him but to no avail. All my documents are in tight. Can it cause Problems during my interview? Or delay my process?
May 1, 2018 at 03:35
Most likely no delay.
May 1, 2018 at 01:48
Hi Simon,
Thanks to all your help, a few weeks ago I received my green card in the mail (only six weeks since arriving at the POE)!
However, my wife hasn’t received hers yet.
It appears that both of our USCIS cases were sent for card production on the same date, but her card still hasn’t been sent (it’s been a month).
I couldn’t find any advice online if this is normal or not? Have you heard of similar cases?
May 1, 2018 at 03:35
Yes. Just be patient.
May 1, 2018 at 04:46
Hello Mr. Brit, is it a must to travel directly to my sponsor state on the first trip?; I am planing to stay in DC (which is the first PoE) for few days and go to my sponsor state after a week; am planing to show a ticket of my final destination but just wanted to make sure they don’t ask much questions at the PoE?; I am from Ethiopia and will post my interview experience pretty soon… For those Ethiopians who did their interview and waiting for their visas, the embassy is currently overwhelmed and they are taking a time while issuing visas; mine took more than three weeks so please be patient!!!
May 1, 2018 at 05:18
They don’t ask anything about that.
May 1, 2018 at 05:22
Thanks!
May 1, 2018 at 10:46
Hello Brit,
I was supposed to go for my dv lottery interview on the 4th of April but I had traveled to a remote place with no Internet connection so I couldn’t check . I returned from that place to Accra today and I saw my date has expired by more than a month.
1. Pls can my interview be rescheduled?
2. If yes how do I go about it.
3. Is there a link I can follow to help me rescheduled my date ?
Thanks
May 1, 2018 at 13:17
Ask the embassy.
