Hi Brit
If I wrote wrong country of chargeability but they are in the sane region I will bee delay o no??
June 12, 2018 at 21:50
It depends on the two countries involved. What countries are they?
June 12, 2018 at 21:53
I have citizenship of Spain sine 2011 and wrot Spain but I was born in Armenia
June 12, 2018 at 22:06
Then that should be OK. Both countries had similar selection chance, so you received no benefit from the mistake and they can approve you. It should not cause a problem or delay.
June 12, 2018 at 22:23
Thank you very much

Hello
I know I ask a few questions, just obviously a huge deal, I have an uncle that could potentially be an i-134 sponsor, however he lives in Milwaukee and I intend to stay in New York, is that an issue? and if thats an issue, could I get an affidavit from a relative here stating that should I get a green card they will provide me with the roughly 10 000 thats required with public charge
Kind regards
June 12, 2018 at 21:55
The location isn’t an issue, BUT read about what qualifies a person to be a sponsor.

Thank you, one more question then I think I am set, does it need to be 6 months of bank statements, because I can get the required money in my account now however it will only reflect for one month
June 13, 2018 at 21:17
2 or 3 months is normal, take more if you think you need to…
June 12, 2018 at 20:23
Hello Brit ,on my submitted ds260 form,I have my dads name as xyz but on my birth cert the y doesn’t appear as that was the mistake of the issuing authority. Will it raise suspicion on my form most respectfully?
June 12, 2018 at 21:56
No
June 12, 2018 at 20:44
I have been selected for DV 2019. My marriage cert and passport has Ivy Akua Amoako Kyei with Amoako Kyei the surname. However my name on my BA DEGREE certificate issued 2016 is Ivy Akua Kyei Amoako. My SHS and HNDcert has my maiden name, Aisha Ahmed
which I have document to support the change of name.
Will this pose a problem? Will court affidavit help in this case?
Also my My husband last name is not listed on the marriage certificate which is was issued in 2009 when we married. Is that a problem, we have joint accounts since 2009.
Please advise
June 12, 2018 at 22:00
1. No problem.
2. The marriage cert is about your wedding to him. How could his name not be on there?
June 13, 2018 at 20:54
I guess it was omission on the part of the court registrar

Hello Brit,
I have read that you must submit a national background check if you have lived in another country for over one year, my question is does this mean consecutively or in total? I’ve had two stints in the US one for 6 months and a seperate one for 10 months, other than that have been based in Australia my entire life, will I require both an Australian and US background check?
Thanks heaps!
June 12, 2018 at 23:37
There are no police certs needed for USA
June 12, 2018 at 23:48
Awesome, thanks.

Hey Brit, sorry for typing here but, I try to comment many times, it is always deleted or hidden.
How can I a post a valid question?

Hello Brit, thank you for this very helpful service that you render. I am a DV 2019 winner, i have filled my DS-260 already however for my 2 kids(7&6 years) on their DS-260 the question that says do you require a GC i answered no for them thinking that children don’t require a GC. Should i unlock the form and correct this or it does not really matter?
June 13, 2018 at 14:33
Yes you need to unlock – and they both need DS260s
June 14, 2018 at 05:09
Hi Brit, i filled D-260 for each of them but on the question do you require Green cards i indicated No for each of the kids. Should i request for their DS-260’s to be unlocked or no need to and i can clarify at the interview?
June 14, 2018 at 13:51
Unlock!
June 13, 2018 at 07:29
Hello Mr. Simon
With full thanks from your hard working . I was typed my middle name in the form Registration Dv lottery 2018,then I am selected. But in my passport & Identify Card does not mentioned my middle name.what do you think does I Receive my visa USA? And What is NVC letter interview ?
THANK YOU, BLESSING
June 13, 2018 at 14:36
Normally no problem. Write the legal name on the DS260 – and use the other names field.
June 13, 2018 at 08:07
hi dear,
my son got the number 2018AS6021 but he deferred the documents submission until May 4, 2018. His current status is “at NVC” ( i known it doesn’t mean anything). Will he still have a chance for haveing an interview for DV2018 which will be ended on Sep 2018?
thank you for your kind attention & Comments..
Best regards
Shirley Chan
June 13, 2018 at 14:37
It’s possible.
June 14, 2018 at 06:44
Hi Brit,
Appreciated for your prompt reply.
For my understanding, 32,xxx visa has issued for AS. According to your experience, will the quota be all used very soon. For my son’s case, the interview order will depends on the case number or he will be the latest due to the late submission.
Thank you for your time for replying
Shirley Chan
June 14, 2018 at 13:58
His number is already eligible for interview, but he can only be scheduled once the DS260 is processed. So – that is what he is waiting for. Now wait and see.
June 20, 2018 at 07:13
Hi Brit
DS260 submitted almost 7 weeks.
Anything we can do if the status still “At NVC” at early July? Or
Can we ask for help at KCC or region Embassy? Or just keep waiting.
Hope to have your reply.

Dear Brit,
Thank you for your Prompt Responses!!!
I have Read your blog about the Publich charge …What I am Worried about is .. Does the Bond Between The Applicant and the Sponsor May Impact Visa Issuance as long as the Sponsor is Willing and Provide the Neccessary Requirements to fill Affidiavit of Support ?
June 13, 2018 at 14:41
The relationship matters in terms of credibility – yes.
June 13, 2018 at 10:35
Hi Brit,
One question about ds260. In the end of the form there is a question “Did anyone assist you on filling this application”. My daughter is 3 years old and of course I filled the form for her. Should I put Yes as the answer of this question?
Thank you a lot.
June 13, 2018 at 14:47
No need to ask me every question. Please use some common sense.
June 13, 2018 at 11:23
Hi.Brit.I send email yesterday to the embassy about my case status they told me to send my passport via DHL.have in APS for one month since I did interview. My question is .will they issue my visa?
June 13, 2018 at 14:50
Well they don’t need your passport to issue a refusal….
June 13, 2018 at 22:39
which embassy? i have been on AP for 4 months
June 13, 2018 at 12:48
Hi
What date will the new visa be announced?

Huh?
June 13, 2018 at 12:49
Hi
I wanted to know if I reschedule my interview wen will i get another interview date …like I assume my interview will be in early january 2019…so if I reschedule my interview….wat chances do i hve of getting a reschedule date????
June 13, 2018 at 14:53
Rescheduling is a bad idea. This isn’t an appoint for a haircut. Take it seriously..
June 13, 2018 at 13:23
Hi brit. I juste realized that I made a mistake on my ds260 concerning the employment date, i made 03 may 2014 instead of 03 june 2014. My interview is scheduled for July. Do you think that would cause any problem ?
June 13, 2018 at 14:55
No
June 13, 2018 at 20:12
Hi
I jst wanted to ask a question in regards to the well my high school result….I will finish my or rather get a full marked transcript after feb….. can i get like an exception thet i will get my transcript in feb nd i will submit it since I assume my interview around january ….
June 13, 2018 at 21:23
Better to delay your interview until you have it (by delaying submission of the DS260).
June 13, 2018 at 20:56
Hi Britsimon,
Just confirming, can I put high school diploma only, or do I also have to include name and details of primary school (7 years from ages 7 to 14)?
June 13, 2018 at 21:27
HS only
June 13, 2018 at 21:54
Hello, Mr.simon
I’m dv lottery winner 2018I applied for adjustment of status, how long will be take to process my case for finger print and schedule for interview ? Thanks a lot
June 13, 2018 at 22:26
I can’t predict that. It varies by case, office and so on.
You can see timelines for others here:

June 14, 2018 at 08:42
Dear Sir, really appreciate your endless support.
Im a 2018 winner who is applying with job experience. I have a long experience in a required field. Recently I resigned from the institution I worked for last four and half months.Five months back the management of the company was handed over to a new management company. But the production is done under the same name. I had entered 4 institutions as my previous employees. 1. from 1993-1996. 2. from 2006 to 2013. 3. 2009 to date. (a part time) 4. 2013 to June 2018.
1. The new management (as mentioned above) didn’t issue me a service certificate yet. I can get a certificate from previous management for the period I worked with them. Will it be a problem if they will not issue me a certificate?
2. As I found it is not necessary to mention about the institution I worked from 1993-1996, I unlocked and removed it. Unfortunately, since our internet connections are very slow, I had mistakenly deleted the institution I worked from 2006-2013. So in my d260 there only two institutions that cover only 9 years. Not ten. Will it be a problem if I won’t be able to unlock and add it again?
3. In the d260 I couldn’t delete last institution I worked at last. Im about to join with a new institution within next couple of weeks and for that Im really an unemployed now. How can I correct this? Will I unlock and leave the current employee empty? Or correct it at the interview? Hope I will have my interview in August or September?
Thanks in advance!
June 14, 2018 at 14:10
1. Your whole proof should not depend on a certificate.
2. Don’t unlock now.
3. Wait for the interview and inform the CO of changes then.
June 14, 2018 at 15:48
Thank you Sir.
June 15, 2018 at 13:16
Sir, having known my mistake, my elder son have sent an email to kcc to unlock, without my knowledge. I corrected the mistake and submited ASAP. Would it be a problem Sir?
June 15, 2018 at 14:19
I don’t think so.
June 15, 2018 at 15:40
Sir, one more question, do we need to take birth certificates of our children to the interview? I couldn’t find it at FAQ. Thanks again and again for your support. God bless you.
June 15, 2018 at 15:57
The instructions you were given were very clear. YES.
READ THE INSTRUCTIONS!
June 16, 2018 at 01:06
Thank you Sir, Really appreciate your great help. I have another question regarding my children’s BCs. Im a writer and use a nick name since my school age and still well known in the country with this name. Even my in-laws don’t know my real name. After the birth of my first child, my father in law has mentioned my nick name as fathers name. So for the second also used the same. I have put my nick name as other names in d260. I will forward an affidavit at the interview. Will this make any problem sir?
June 16, 2018 at 01:38
I don’t have a crystal ball. You know what proof you have – so it will be up to the CO and your guess is as good as mine.
June 16, 2018 at 12:35
Thank you Sir. I have many printed matters since 1993 as proops and even media ID provided by the Govt. Hope those are enough with a notarized affidavit.
June 14, 2018 at 09:19
Hello Simon
I think I found a peculiarity in the data. Case 2018AF25587, current only after June, has a refused status with status date 31st of May. How can that be ? Can a case be refused before an interview is scheduled (with the assumption an interview is scheduled only after June 1st)?
June 14, 2018 at 14:21
I don’t know.
June 14, 2018 at 09:37
Hi Brit,
My hubby is winner of DV20183XXX and gave an interview on March but listed in AP. Embassy emailed him still waiting and waiting. Why do they making delay? Is it possible for visa? I just need your help.
June 14, 2018 at 14:22
There is nothing I can say. You just need to wait.
June 14, 2018 at 09:51
“Odd” is a common word in this year dv. Anything is possible. Anyway I leave your question to our boss Simon.
Good lucky to everyone out there.
June 14, 2018 at 10:52

My sister did her interview in April 2018 she was given a denial letter but her status says ready. What does this means?
June 14, 2018 at 12:08
If you dont mind sharing , why did she get denial?
June 14, 2018 at 14:25
That they have not updated CEAC. That’s all.
June 15, 2018 at 02:38
IM Sorry its kinda Stupid what is CEAC? …. It is her fault not update CEAC or ??
June 15, 2018 at 03:18
It’s a status system for each case.
June 14, 2018 at 12:33
I was supposed to go USA by DV lottery but out of ignorant the agent made me do a contract married so i can come with the guy but unfortunately they caught us but the embassy said nothing .
Please do i still have the change to come there because I have a very big dream out there.
June 14, 2018 at 14:29
You are an adult, so you are responsible for your own actions. I don’t know any details about your case, so cannot answer your question.
June 14, 2018 at 17:34
Hi Simon,
Just wanted to send you a biggest thank you for all you do. We’ve just got our passports back and couldn’t be happier. It was extremely long and stressful wait and you made it so much more bearable. Thank you for your advice and patience. I’m sure you realise how many people feel total gratitude for you. Best wishes for you and your family and thank you again!
June 14, 2018 at 19:58
Thanks for the kind words and congratulations.
June 14, 2018 at 18:59
Hi Brit
I have received the Visa.
Earlier during interview, I had given a friend’s details as my sponsor.
But now I have got an offer letter in a company in another state.
Do I need to travel to my sponsor’s place or can I directly travel to the place where I will be working?
Please direct me.
Thanks,
Paudel

Pls am from Ghana and am a winner of DV 2018..,my birth certificat and DV 260aswell as passport much but on my certificate that’s high school intrad of 5 march 1992 ,it changed to 6 march 1992..pls will that b a problem.on the day of interview
June 14, 2018 at 20:02
It is always hard to be sure with Accra. They see so many fraudulent cases that they are more suspicious of small inconsistencies in documents. The only way to know for sure is at the interview.
June 14, 2018 at 21:39
Pls help me out …Brit my date of birth on my passport and birth certificate correspond that’s 5 /03/1992but on my certificate that high school certificate..instead of 5/03/1992 it wrongly typed as 6 /03/1992…pls will that course a problem at the day of interview…and I have supporting documents..

June 14, 2018 at 22:33
good evening I would like to know for people who are already current since April not yet received the 2nd letter so far….
June 15, 2018 at 00:16
What would you like to know?
June 14, 2018 at 23:50
Hi Brit,
I submitted the ds260. I noticed one thing which I don’t know if it’s normal. In the “Review” part of the ds260 I saw appearing a question “is your mother address the same as your father?” and beside it there was nothing (neither yes or no). The same was also for my daughter. But in the “Complete” part (where you fill the form) there was no such question to answer at all. In both cases it asked directly the current address of the mother.
While for my spouse, whom father passed away last year, this question was appearing in the “Complete” part and dissappearing in the “Review” part (!).
Do you have any idea why does this happen?
Do you think this can cause any problem to my application?
Is there the need to do anything?
Thank you.
June 15, 2018 at 00:19
It’s not a problem. The DS260 is used for other types of application where the parents details might be more important. For DV, it is not important.
June 15, 2018 at 00:33
Thank you Simon.
My fear is mostly that KCC may see an empty field/answer for a question that does not appear at all when filling the ds260 form but appears only in the “REVIEW” at the end (with an empty answer/without answer) and consider the form uncompleted. While as I said the question does not appear at all when filing the form. Do you think this can be penalizing for my application?
Thank you a lot for your patience.
June 15, 2018 at 01:21
I really don’t think you need to worry about this….
June 15, 2018 at 01:46
Same here with me. Also appears in reveiw section out of nowhere. So as Simon said, no need to worry. We have other things to stress about bro 🙂
June 15, 2018 at 10:35
Thanks man.
June 15, 2018 at 10:42
Just for curiosity, at what stage are you with the application? Are dv2019 or 2018?
Thanks
June 15, 2018 at 02:49
Hi simon
I am a selectee of dv 2018, and am scheduled for my visa interview in two weeks, my sponsor how ever doesn’t meet the federal poverty level, as a result I had to add co-sponsor to meet the requirement, so my question is does both my sponsors fill the form I-134 separately or there’s another form that includes ajoint sponsor
June 15, 2018 at 03:18
You can’t have co-sponsors. You have a sponsor that meets the requirement – otherwise it’s no good.
June 15, 2018 at 03:12
Hey mr ,one of my friends is in USA by last year do program he is married and have 3 children but he was applied as a single and gone alone after he gotten green Card he is started processing the family’s case . My Q is 1.is it possible?2.how long does the process will takes ?
June 15, 2018 at 03:20

VB July just released! Oceania cut off is now 1400. What’s your prediction for final cut off? I’m 15xx.??
June 15, 2018 at 13:34
That was a good jump – so if you are low 15XX range there might be a chance…
June 15, 2018 at 20:02
Thank you! Am early 1500’s and will need to do Status Adjustment. What is your experience with timing / processing for the final month? R
June 15, 2018 at 20:19
Well you will have to take advantage of early filing and then push the case as fast as possible. People have succeeded before, but in DV2017 we saw a sudden shutdown of visa availability in early September that ruined the AOS cases in that month.
June 15, 2018 at 11:22
Hi Brit
Eagerly awaiting for your views on Aug VB.what is your prediction for OC now.Do you think it can hit current in final VB 2018.

Hi Brit
1) for AS62XX, i have submitted a DS 260, besides getting a confirmation on the website, do they email a confirmation a few weeks later/months after the submission in acknowledgement or is it only before the interview.
2) according to your stats, My interview is next year May, when should i expect to get an email that i should start preparing for the interview?
Thank you for your help
June 15, 2018 at 13:41

Hello Brit, i won dv 2019 but my photo is old and is not good.
can i get the visa or will be rejected due to the photo?
thank u..
June 15, 2018 at 13:13
desalegn from Addis Ababa
Hi Brit
You are doing great by helping people.God bless you.
I am a winner of DV 2018. My interview will be on July
almost three weeks to go.
But when i rechecked my DS 260 i found out a mistake.
the mistake occurred due to date conversion from Ethiopian
calendar to Gregorian calendar. The mistake is the date that i came to Ethiopia.
will this create a problem? could i unlock ds 260 and correct it?
or should i wait till the interview date and explain the case?
if i correct the form, would the Embassy be suspicious of anything
fraudulent. i have a paper that shows the last time i worked out
of Ethiopia.
thanks a lot
desalegn
June 15, 2018 at 14:18
It shouldn’t cause a problem. Relax.
June 15, 2018 at 14:14
The photo has to be really bad to get disqualified.
June 15, 2018 at 12:20
HI, I READ your faq, and from what I understand that I will.be scheduled an interview for August with case number greater then38000 from Africa based on vb status at “current”.
June 15, 2018 at 12:39

Hi Brit,
What are the chances that 2018EU will go current or at least 2018EU355**.
June 15, 2018 at 14:42
None to almost none.

I have thought there is a hope after seeing that 2018AF38000 went to CURRENT(it is around AF60*** I guess) in one month

Hello mr.Brit
What is happening with vb in Eu?? Why is it going with this rhythm? There are people with nc 39000 They’ve passed this entire year dreaming and planning their life in the US. That’s unfair!
Do you think there is a chance to get current in Eu too?
Thank you in advance

People with high case numbers won’t get a chance. Why has this happened – well – people with lower case numbers go first – and they have already taken over 14000 visas. There is NO chance for EU to go current.

Mr Simon. Thanks for being responsive to the DV public many questions! According to your most recent vb update africa is current. My case CN # is AF43,5XX but while I tried to check my IV visa status it still shows at nvc. I thought it should show current status instead of at nvc ?
June 15, 2018 at 14:50
Nope. Once your interview is scheduled it will show in transit and then ready – but that won’t happen overnight so relax.

Dear BritSimon thank for your great and admirable job. I’m a DV 2019 selected.
I have some question before I submit my ds-260.
1- As a principal, my work/education page is different than my wife one. I wanted to add my high school diploma and also I did a master without a degree. so I choose university degree and put my bachelor, and it is impossible to make another choice like high school and university without a degree. So my question is can I keep only my bachelor?
2. About the question in the part of yes/no “Do you have documentation to establish that you have received vaccinations in accordance with U.S. law?”. My situation is that I have done most of those vaccines but there some few which I did not. So can I put yes? what advice for me?
THANK YOU
