Hello Mr Simon
I have chosen in my ds260 to not be issued a social security card automatically, so I can go to their office myself and make sure to receive it as soon as possible.
However plans have changed and now I will only enter the US through a different city to validate my 1st entry, then go back for a while before settling for good, and I wanted to change back the social security option so that it is automatically sent to the adress I gave.
I am already scheduled for august, so can I ask the consulate to make the change on the interview day or is there some risk of delay that I can’t afford ?
Thanks
July 6, 2018 at 16:09
By delay I meant causin AP
July 6, 2018 at 16:14
No problem, no delay.

Hi Simon
My wife is winner 2019
Just to know that if can go to Usa alone after getting my visa then I will bring my wife and kid
I have heard that without your wife you can not go to Usa first
What do you think?

You already asked – I already answered.

Hi Brit
First of all i would like to say thank you for all the information you provided us with during the all process. My case number 2018AF34$$$. Our interview was today in Dublin.
1. we arrived at the USA embassy Dublin at 8h00 as per the appointment
2. we checked at the security at the gate
3. they took us in a waiting area.
4. they called us to pay $330 per person, family of 5
5. they asked us to take a seat
6. after about 30 min, they called our name so that we can give our doc (very strange that they asked us for an affidavit of support or our bank statements) fortunately we had an affidavit of support from a family friends who is salary is about 130.000$
7. after giving all doc, then they ask us to take a seat again
8. after 2 hours then they called our name for the interview.
9. The interviewer was very kind in fact he became like our friends he started telling about his kids. lol.
10.he asked us to take an oath put your hand up, say this after me….
11. then he asked are you married? where did u meet your wife? who proposed who between the 2 of u. lol
12. then his focus went to our 13 year old child the first born: he asked him, are these your parents? are you good with your siblings? what are their names? what class are you doing?
13. finally he said, all is ok, your visa has been approved. it will be issued within about 10 days.
Brint can you answer these questions:
1. do you think the interviewer can change his mind after he already said that the visa is approved?
2. i checked on ceac its says our case is on admin processing.
July 7, 2018 at 00:10
Hi serge mugalu, please share on here if you and your family received your passport with visa after 10 days
July 7, 2018 at 09:18
OK. Are you in Dublin also?
July 7, 2018 at 15:04
1. It’s possible.
2. Read the FAQ.
July 7, 2018 at 07:04
Hi BritSimon, my case status is AP. I was not able to provide PCC from a country that i was working in before. Note i was not holding resident card only a work visa that i had to renew once expired ( in reality i was commuter mean i work 5 weeks and go home 5 weeks i never been there for more than 35 days at any given time. Do you think i can send waiver or email letter explaining the fact i can not get the pCC as my ex company is no longer there. The operation was shutt down since 2016.
Thx to advise
July 7, 2018 at 15:40
I don’t know. You MUST follow the instructions on the reciprocity page for that country and document the steps you take.

July 9, 2018 at 20:13
Hi Simon, from the bottom of my heart accept my thank you. You’re website successfully helped my husband complete his dv2016 win from beginning to end more than our lawyer did, i was lawyering our lawyer using ur guidelines. ANWAYS, i have a million dollar worth question for you to answer and , this is the case. MY SON who is already out of age when we submitted our application and thus wasnt included wanted to try submitting application now pulling his dad’s country of nativity. HE WAS born in a country which is NOT eligible to participate where his mother is a native of that country. His dad is currently now an immigrant of US but remains an Iraqi yet. IS our son eligible to join?
I have read and asked , got answers but your opinion is what would matter to us.
Thank you !
July 12, 2018 at 00:56
Your son cannot participate in the lottery as his country was ineligible. Family based sponsorship will be possible once you are citizens, BUT it will be a very slow process.
July 7, 2018 at 12:20
Hi again Mr. Brit and thank your for your efforts,
I’m the winner, got married almost two months ago, added my spouse on DS260 and then got scheduled by a letter holding my name only.
Couple of weeks ago, I contacted KCC to check about my spouse’s name and profile and they assure me that they already got her data. They also advise me to contact the embassy which I did. Couple of days later the embassy called me asking me to send them my wife’s documents (Marriage/birth certificates and DS confirmation page) which I did directly and thats it. – Of-course my full documents will be sent 10 days before the interview in August along with medicals.
I noted before on the Visa Status Check that the case holding one number (01) – which is mine obviously; however today I’ve just noticed that the case “has returned multiple results” (01 & 02) with the READY status as it is.
1. My concern now, do you think it’s done this way and the embassy finally include my wife in my case application?
2.A. For future purpose, hopefully, I understand that the embassy will give me a closed envelope to hand it at the POE. In case I traveled alone first, is there anything that my wife will do/hand at the POE if she follows me later after 2-3 months? Or her name will be already in the system from the time I reached to the US and handed the envelope and she does not need anything (at POE) other than her visa ?
2.B. Do I need to tell the embassy that we will enter on two separate times (within the allowed 6 months) so they give us two envelops or something?
July 7, 2018 at 16:08
1. So KCC told, you, the embassy told you, CEAC shows 2 and you are still asking me??? Really?
2a. It will be fine. Relax.
2b. Mention it at the interview.
July 8, 2018 at 04:45
Thank you.
July 7, 2018 at 13:28
Hi Brit, can you tell me how many real cases are from current number to 38xxx for eu aprox
Thank you ?
July 7, 2018 at 15:01
Hello Brit when you say 4000 people are expecting interviews do you include the ban countries?
July 7, 2018 at 16:42
Yes – but in AF there are only about 1000 banned selected across the whole number range – so that is a very small part of the 4000 (which was a LOW END estimate).
July 9, 2018 at 13:06
Hey
Am from Africa. Let me ask you this…

2)for education…if you are in a university but you are yet done do you include it in the ds 260 form even if you do not know when the graduation date is or when you will finish,(am in the last academic year of the university)
Thank you.
July 9, 2018 at 13:08
Correction up there…..am not yet done with the university

July 8, 2018 at 08:02
Dear Simon.
How are you ?
I just have one question.
i just took medical checkup around mid March/2018 for the DV interview.
My visa expiry date as it is written in my visa is at the end of Oct/2018 which is almost around seven and half months away from my medical check up time.
My question is that, shall i count the six months starting from the time when the medical report is made (Mid March) or shall I follow the time that is printed in my Visa?
Best Regards,
Soomon! .

July 8, 2018 at 14:43
Hi Simon, I appreciate all the efforts and info you are providing .
I have been working as an accountant , admin officer as well as sponsorship coordinator. What is the best occupation to fill in the primary occupation field in the DS 260 . Since the options shown are limited. Thanks
July 8, 2018 at 15:07
Just give an honest accurate answer, and move on.
July 8, 2018 at 15:05
Hey Sir how you been? i have two question my first question is during ma interview is that necessary to have my original degree? I asked this question because in Ethiopia you can’t to have your original degree until you pay your cost sharing? I have temporary certificate but my question is it mandatory to be with my original degree during an interview? My second question is when i was grade 8 i was 13 nearly 14 years of age so i just said 14 years old during ministry exam so that may affect my interview? tank you for your advice
July 8, 2018 at 15:10
I don’t know much about the Ethiopian education system or how the embassies treat paperwork.
July 8, 2018 at 15:30
Hi Dear Simon,
I’m from Morocco and my interview is scheduled for August, I heard that a lot of poeple got a DS 5535 form after been interviewed, is that true ? Who is concerned with ? Islamic countries or just it depends of persons ?

Hi Aïcha.
I did my interview in June. It was so easy and didn’t ask me lot of questions only few. And they didn’t ask for any form. I think it depends on some situation. I was on AP for few days but I got my visa less then two weeks. Even tho the CO told me I will get my visa in two weeks.
Don’t worry. The interview is very easy.
Best of luck
Kindly
Douniya

my best regards sis
July 8, 2018 at 15:33
Dear Mickel Tom.
U can take authenticated copy of your temporary degree.
Furthermore u don’t need to take ur grade 8 document to your interview. The information regarding ur birth date on your passport and birth certificate must be the same.
July 8, 2018 at 15:42
It is best that people take MORE documents than they think are needed.
July 8, 2018 at 15:47
hey guys, any prediction about last biutetin for Eu in dv2018 ??
July 8, 2018 at 16:45
Nope.
July 8, 2018 at 16:13
Hi Mr. Brit,
again I have few questions. I am going to show my bank account at the time of interview.
1) How do I show account details to them? passbook or account statement?
2) I have three accounts and should I show them three accounts or transfer the money in to a one account and show them? what is your suggestion for the best results?
July 8, 2018 at 16:49
1. Take both.
2. You can decide.
July 9, 2018 at 03:38
Thank you Sir,
I have another question. when I register for the interview what is My visa class? there are lots of visa classes and is it DV 1 or another? thank you
July 9, 2018 at 04:16
DV1 – Diversity lottery…
July 8, 2018 at 16:57
Hi Aicha Benhaddou what is your case number thanks ?the doc u asked is easy once asked to fill no worries.
July 9, 2018 at 00:06
Hi mimi, My case number is 31xxx, I m scheduled for August. Not worry about the document but think that it was mondatory in morocco, just question of time.
July 8, 2018 at 21:59
yes mr Brit
i won DVD 2019, as my case is 20XXX,
1- at what time my interview will be?
2- if i delay my interview schedule for months for any reason can my case be canceled ? because i am other document seeker as i am from banned countries
3-can i demand un-lock to fill the DS 260 with my new passport after months of my interview schedule?
waiting helpful respond
July 8, 2018 at 23:24
1. You don’t give the region – so I have no idea.
2. Well if you are from a banned country you should not attempt the interview unless you have dual citizenship.
3. Delay submission of your DS260!
July 8, 2018 at 22:13
my wife will be traveling, I can attend the interview alone
July 8, 2018 at 22:56
Hi im a dv wwinner i spent my interview on 19mars my case wase approved pending administrative processing my question is all the ap will finish be for 09/30/2018 or no think is sur
July 8, 2018 at 23:24
I don’t know.
July 9, 2018 at 00:15
HI DOUNIYA ,what were the interview questions?did you need a sponsor or just a us address ?Thank you and Good luck .
July 9, 2018 at 00:55
Hello.
The questions were very basic. For me because I was living in China and I’ve spent months traveling around Southeast Asia and Australia. So most of the question were about the countries I’ve visted and how long I stayed there . And very basic questions if I’m married or single. If I can speak Chinese. And about my degrees that’s all. And they asked if I want to keep the address in DS260 or change it. They didn’t ask me about the sponsor.
Very easy. Don’t worry
Best of luck

Hello Brit, is it advisable to open the DS260 for Africa region @ AF50*** to update the status? I am expecting a baby in few days, please advice the proper way to handle this.
July 9, 2018 at 05:41
Read the FAQ on adding a child.
July 9, 2018 at 06:35
Please sir is medical fee the same for every one—-babies and adults pay the same—even though babies don’t get some tests that adults get?
July 9, 2018 at 14:10
Yes
July 9, 2018 at 07:05
I understand that the sponsor filling up the affidavit of support needs to show proof of citizenship. Does this need to be his/her actual passport or birth certificate or can I bring a copy of his/her passport of birth certificate to the interview together with I-134 and the other documents required such as tax returns etc? Thank you so much!
July 9, 2018 at 14:14
Copies.
July 10, 2018 at 04:26
Thank you very much! Another question. I have read different things from different sources online about what is needed for the interview. One source states that we need notarized copies of the birth certificate and marriage cert as well as a certified copy of evidence of education while other sources didn’t state that but just that we needed copies of the original. Do you by any chance know if I need to get the copies of the above-mentioned documents notarized/certified? I’m so sorry for the trouble.
July 10, 2018 at 04:43
You need to read the instructions, including embassy specific documents.
July 10, 2018 at 04:55
reading from embassy site.. original copies or certifies copies as mentioned.. but from look of things
embassy tends to go for original copies .. meanwhile if you are able to have the both no hassle, but brit you help and but more light to this issue
July 10, 2018 at 05:10
I can answer as well as anyone, but I tell people to read the instructions for their benefit. Leave the answering to me please.
July 9, 2018 at 07:53
Hi Brit,
I am from Nepal. In the present address section i have written the address information where i am living now since the age of 12, for the study different than the city of birth. but in the mailing address section “is the mailing address same as present address” i ticked NO and entered the birth place address. Is it ok . I am bit confused in writing the birth place address in present address or is it ok writing it in mailing address.
July 9, 2018 at 14:16
You should have ticked yes.
July 9, 2018 at 21:42
But the address what i wrote in mailing address is permanent address. As per your reply should i unlock and tick yes or it is ok.
July 9, 2018 at 22:06
It’s up to you.
July 9, 2018 at 22:14
Thankyou.
July 9, 2018 at 22:13
My birthplace address is the permanent address. and the present address is the temporary address. so i ticked no and entered the permanent address as mailing address. so can you suggest me for this or should i unlock and ticked yes. or is it ok
July 9, 2018 at 08:02
yes mr Brit
i have to put to questions to other way
i won DVD 2019, as my case is AF0002XXXX,
1- at what time my interview will be?
2- if i get missed of my interview schedule for four or five months for any reason can my case be canceled ? because i am other document seeker as i am from banned countries(somalia)
3-can i demand un-lock after i have fill DS 260 form, to make a change it with my new passport after months of my interview schedule left
waiting helpful respond
July 9, 2018 at 14:19
1. 2:15pm.
2. As I told you – you WILL BE refused if you don’t have duial citizenship – so you are BETTER OFF delaying your interview until you will have your other citizenship. I can’t be more clear than that – don’t keep asking this.
3. Yes – but that is not your best approach (see 2)
July 9, 2018 at 10:05
Hi Simon, hope all is ok with you. I have read that for some people the 2NL reported the interview date one month later then the “correct month” (i.e., people current in June having interview in September rather then in August). I am asking you if this will not be possible for the numbers becoming current in July? I mean, ALL the current numbers in July will have their 2NL reporting interview date in September, as this is the last month of the fiscal year? Thank very much! Kind regards, Fausto
July 9, 2018 at 14:22
I don’t know what will happen.
July 9, 2018 at 11:07
Hi Mr Brit
Thanks for your kindness and helpful every one. .
my question is about the expire of passports of my children is(11months).but the letter from the embassy. mentioned that the expire must be (12months)…my interview on August…
what is your advice…thank you very much.
July 9, 2018 at 12:33
if you can renew it before the interview it will be best but send an e-mail to the embassy first and they will advice you batter
July 9, 2018 at 14:24
11 months is OK – but renewing the passports would be better.
July 9, 2018 at 14:05
I got told wrong information by an IO and only just figured this out. In your experience, is it too late (considering the September 31st cut-off) to submit my i-485 for AoS. I don’t want to gamble the $1200 filing fee if 2.5 months isn’t adequate time to get through the process. Any insight is appreciated!
July 9, 2018 at 14:08
There is enough time.
July 9, 2018 at 14:35
By the way, it sounds like you have not done the correct research. Everything you need to know is available in the spreadsheet linked from post 1 of the thread below. Make sure you are following that guidance.

No
July 9, 2018 at 15:13
Brit, how is the Principle of getting case number current?
Thanks you
July 9, 2018 at 16:15
What are you asking?
July 9, 2018 at 15:24
We notice on the xarthisius’s graphs that most of cases end up refused at the Abu Dhabi (UAE) US Embassy. A lot of cases , if not most , are from Africa region last when I checked.
I’m just curious, is there any explanation or theory regarding this?
July 9, 2018 at 16:16
No.
July 9, 2018 at 23:07
I think there is sthg funny with the embassy charts on the dvcharts wrbsite. I have noticed inconsistent data (compared to the raw data in the latest csv file) in several embassies not just UAE
July 11, 2018 at 00:54
I’m afraid you’re wrong. There’s just a handful of cases from AF, and only 4 of them were refused.
July 9, 2018 at 15:36
Hallo brit, does it mean dv winners from the banned country will not get 2nls?
July 9, 2018 at 16:14
They will get 2NLs.
July 9, 2018 at 17:34
Hi Brit.the sponsor that everybody ask,is for DV lottery visasor for other visas?thanks

July 9, 2018 at 17:36
How critical is including high school certificate and university degree in AoS package. Mine are abroad and will take time to acquire. Could they hypothetically be left out of the packet but brought to the interview. Or are they critical.
Love your work! Fantastic resource!
July 9, 2018 at 18:28
Use the link I gave you and ask AOS questions there. Sm1smom is the expert on DV AOS cases.
July 9, 2018 at 17:47
hi brit
1. how often does ceac website get updated? our case is still on ap and it shows it was last updated on the day of the interview
2. how much do we need to pay at the airport in usa for the green card? for my kids too?
3.can we pay for the green card before we travel to activate?
4. is it true that our green card visa from the embassy would have our A number?
5. my degree of law from dublin would be valid in usa?

1. Whenever the embassy updates it – there is no set schedule.
2. At the airport – nothing. You pay online, $220 per person.
3. Yes, or after.
4. Yes
5. The degree would be valid – but that doesn’t mean you could practice law.

Hi, my brother submitted my information for the DV lottery and I was selected. However he can’t remember if he included my child or not. Is there anyway I can get the information that was entered ??
Thanks for your help!

The DS260 will show the child without needing to add an aplicant. Also once the 2NL is sent it will list the derivatives as originally entered.
July 9, 2018 at 18:53
It has been confirmed that people whose cases are pending further embassy review will surely and 100% receive 2NL after 15th July ,is that correct ?many have received such as reply and they confirmed that is true.

No that is not “confirmed”.

Since it’s the last time for this DV I’m giving some situational data and how I see scenarios this time in reference to the file that xarthisius released today.
1. Europe has 20,915 real cases where on average 65% continue the procedure, so there will be 13,570 net applicants. Of these applicants, 78% receive visas (others are in AP status, ready or refused), so there will be 10,518 such. These applicants have 2.28 derivatives, so total visas for Europe would be max 23.987.
2. Africa has 32,541 real cases where on average 57% continue the procedure, so they will be 18,413. Of these applicants, 58% receive visas (others are in AP status, ready or refused), so there will be 10,724 of them. These applicants have 1.78 derivatives so the total visas for Africa would be max 18,236.
3.Asia has 8,488 real cases where on average 65% continue the procedure, so there will be 5,481. Of these applicants 47% receive visas (others are in AP status, ready or refused) so there will be 2,567 such. These applicants have 1.91 derivatives so the total visas for Azine would be max 4,911.
The three continents in total are 47,134, while the rest have not received more than 2,000 visas. The visa issue is no longer a problem, but what is somewhat problematic is the processing of the remaining real case.
Europe has remained 5,930 real with 65% falling 3,854 potential applicants to continue the process. Considering that 12% remain ready, 3,391 applicants will go for an interview. The best month we have data is September 2015 where 2,046 applicants were interviewed.
The scenarios I think would be logical:
1. If the current issue is to be discussed, it will be processing the 3,391 applicants and whether they are the capacity of embassies. One variant would be given to whom to succeed and depending on the capacity of the embassies will set or not an interim date for each.
2. While the other in this line would be that the August VB would change where it would increase by 1,500 (net 1,000 applicants) so the cut-off would be for 27,000 or even the current. August has 432 applicants so it would not be a problem to add a cut-off.
3. If we follow the logic that processing will not exceed the maximum number for a month between 2,100-2,500 VB applicants would be between 30,700-32,000.
4. A possibility would be current with restrictions on individual states.
5. The worst scenario would be VB 28,000 where the number of visas would be around 19,500. I do not believe this scenario, but I include it because many people in the comments believe this is a limit for Europe.

It is difficult to interpret what you are saying – but I think your “worst scenario” of VB EU28000 (if I understand you correctly) is highly optimistic.
In any case, the final VB will be released in a few days – and then we will know for sure.
