July 12, 2018 at 14:23
Hi Sir,
I have a rented house from almost one year ago and there I deposited close to 50,000$ and have some amount of money in the bank account. can I show them this deposited agreement document and is it valuable for the interview ? because without having visa I cant cancel it now.
July 12, 2018 at 14:53
Maybe, if you will get that money back.

Police Record
Unavailable for applicants inside and outside Indonesia. Indonesian police certificates require initial processing at a local or village level, which is nonstandard in nature, can be subject to capricious decisions by officials and may require nonofficial payments to proceed further.”
Does it mean Indonesian dont need to take police record to interview?
July 12, 2018 at 14:52
For Indonesia, yes.
July 12, 2018 at 17:04
But Actually We CAn get the police record in Indonesia. But since I’m living in China, i only need to get Police record in China, right? what do you suggest? I get both or just China? Thank you.
July 12, 2018 at 18:32
Read and follow the instructions.
July 12, 2018 at 15:09
Logically speaking ,As long as AF region is current and cases around 52000 are ready therefore Sept visa bulletin will still be current for Africa or at least stops at 54000 .your thought?
July 12, 2018 at 15:17
I think the final VB will be released today or tomorrow – so relax.
July 12, 2018 at 15:21
Any chance to be pushed on Monday so they can have more time to process?
July 12, 2018 at 16:41
It’s not impossible.
July 12, 2018 at 19:33
Hi,
I am from Nepal,
1. Do every one gets the 2nd letter who have low case number.
2. does unlocking and again resubmitting cause denial of getting 2nd letter.
July 12, 2018 at 19:58
1. Normally, yes
2. No
July 12, 2018 at 22:02
Hey Brit. My case number is AF40956.is it possible for my case to be scheduled??
July 12, 2018 at 22:24
Wait and see.
July 15, 2018 at 23:46
You just posted the latest number of 2019 selectees for AF – 38,247 – if the case number is AF39XXX(Algeria), does that mean that the 39000 case number will not be considered for a visa (since the number of selectees for AF is only 38,247? That’s how I read this. Appreciate a reply.
July 16, 2018 at 00:53
No. You are very confused between case numbers and selectees. There is LOTS of info available to explain this – read some of the FAQ.
July 14, 2018 at 20:14
Hi Britsimon

Hey Brit. Is it possible for cases in the AF above 38300 to have their cases scheduled for interview
July 12, 2018 at 22:23
Yes – some already have.
July 12, 2018 at 22:53
Hi simon u helped me a year ago and i want to say thank you , a friend of mine his wif won the dv lottery but he wants to come to the usa first and she will follow him 3 months later is that possible , or the applicant should go first , thank you

The principal must enter the USA before or with the derivatives.
July 13, 2018 at 02:32
Ms. Brett Simon
I want to ask you please about a problem with my ds260 account and I received the second message. This problem is a mistake in the street address of the high school I studied in. I wrote the name of my city in the street address where the secondary is located and now is there a solution to this problem
July 13, 2018 at 05:30
It is a trivial mistake. No need to correct it.
July 13, 2018 at 08:50
Thank you so much ,Mr simon im so afraid because my interview is in the following days and all my information it’s true but in the place of street address of high school I wrote the name of city. and If I correct it in the day of interview ,Will I be in trouble or what because I figure out it yesterday whene I Reviewed my information
Thank you Mr simon for your information
July 13, 2018 at 10:31
He just told u NO NEED TO CORRECT IT you interview will pass fine, all the best
July 13, 2018 at 14:45
Stop being silly.
July 13, 2018 at 02:43
Hi Brit,
Is it true that you still have to visit the Social security office for your social security number even if you requested for it on the DS-260 form?
July 13, 2018 at 05:31
Some people find that happens.
July 13, 2018 at 06:10
HI BRIT!!
I WAS SELECTED FOR THE DV2019 AND MY CASE NO IS AF7515 FROM KENYA. I ALREADY FILLED MY DS260.
1 HOW WILL I BE NOTIFIED FOR THE INTERVIEW?
2 IS IT A MUST TO SHOW AN AFFIDAVIT OF SUPPORT OR EVEN A WELCOME LETTER CAN DO?
3 DO U THINK I WILL BE SELECTED AS ITS ALREADY JULY AND I FILLED THE FORM ON 6TH JUNE 2018?
July 13, 2018 at 14:43

Hey Brit,
The visa bulletin got released: https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/legal/visa-law0/visa-bulletin/2018/visa-bulletin-for-august-2018.html
July 13, 2018 at 13:33
Visa bulletin released brit but how can they push it from current to 39500 for September in Africa
July 13, 2018 at 15:00
https://britsimonsays.com/vb-for-september-2018-interviews-released/
July 13, 2018 at 13:40
DV2019 total selectee: 87,610 —> relatively low compared to 2018 and somewhere in between 2016 and 2017.
I wonder how this selection figure will affect the process from Oct. 2018 (i.e. interview months, cut off cn, etc.)
I’m DV2019 AS42xx so should be safe according to past stats, but the implication on the interview month, if any, would be interesting.
As our master Simon says, “wait and see”!
July 13, 2018 at 13:56
I think interviews given out randomly, cases above 40000 in Africa have been scheduled for July . can cases whose cases are pending further embassy review be scheduled ?

July 13, 2018 at 14:54
Hello SIR!! it seems that the final VB is out ….. can you tell me if this case number will or won’t get an interview please : 2018AF00040106
July 13, 2018 at 15:08
No interview.
July 13, 2018 at 15:24
My case number is 2019AF6***, can i have my interview before 2019?
July 13, 2018 at 15:44
Maybe.
July 13, 2018 at 15:53
Have a chance to get more number in august for september? Eu268**
July 13, 2018 at 16:02
No
July 13, 2018 at 16:16
I think there is some ambiguity behind this cuttoff for Africa . it is a conservative approach to some fluctuations on projected visa demands, embassy capacity and per country visa limit , per region visa limit.
I have consulted somebody who has been handling DV cases for the last 10 Years to be patient regardless the Final cutoff numbers.
Lets Hope
July 13, 2018 at 16:38
Please don’t give people false hope based on something an agent says….
July 13, 2018 at 16:55
Actually he is not an agent . but he is someone on the actual ground . it is not a very bad to give people hope. You can also see why retrogression applies . we can see some surprise with the 2nl.
July 13, 2018 at 16:57
Well don’t continue to suggest that – at least not here.
July 15, 2018 at 10:23
False hope
July 13, 2018 at 17:10
Hope is a little something we all need especially at such a confusing and shocking turn of events in AF…thanks for sharing…hopeful until the end…#its not over til its over!
July 13, 2018 at 17:51
…. and this is exactly why I don’t want this false hope being spread. The result is clear – why continue the uncertainty for people. That is cruel.
July 14, 2018 at 11:42
Hi ximon
Do you mean regardless of
Final cutoff numbers some higher case numbers have chance of receiving 2nl.
Thanks
POLY
July 14, 2018 at 14:54
That is what he means – and it is NOT true.
July 13, 2018 at 16:58
When would i get 2nl? EU2528×
July 13, 2018 at 17:00

July 13, 2018 at 20:17
Thanks Brit. Good work.Surprises today. I counted vbs. They are 12 for 12 months. But if this is for September how comes by the other day it was showing vb for july and today for august after the update. I feel there could the last vb for september. If am wrong elaborate it to us.
July 13, 2018 at 20:52
You are wrong – and the VB is normal.
July 14, 2018 at 05:23
Hi Brit, I have a question regarding our upcoming interview schedule at Montral, Canada, my wife is a principal applicant, she done her education from Pakistan, been working in Canada for last 11 years, i have got her educational credentials attested by our lawyer, would that be okay for US embassy, or do we need to attest it by some other authoriti ? Thanks in advance Sam
July 14, 2018 at 14:31
What you have should be OK
July 13, 2018 at 22:22
Mr simon, for the AF region, what are the AF region numbers that were adversely affected? can AF 2018AF43531 hope for september 018 interview?
July 14, 2018 at 00:31
Numbers of 39500 and over are not going to be sent 2NLs.
July 14, 2018 at 05:22

July 14, 2018 at 14:33
Not yet scheduled. When did you submit your DS260?
July 14, 2018 at 15:55
15 Jun 2018
July 14, 2018 at 16:16
OK – so very late. You will have to hope they can complete processing in time.
July 14, 2018 at 10:22
Hi Simon.
We have recently been accepted for the green card and we are wondering if we still need to apply for an esta form. (we believe not) Thank you so much for your site and input. We would never have got so long without you!!!
Many thanks..
Anita and Family
July 14, 2018 at 14:21
You have your temporary visas stamped in your passports now so you don’t need a Visa waiver to enter the US anymore (ESTA). You won a Diversity Visa aka Green card so all you need to do is to have it endorsed at POE by a CBP officer now. Good luck.
July 14, 2018 at 14:50
ESTA is a visa waiver. You have a visa – so NO
July 14, 2018 at 10:40
Am deeply saddened by this news. All hope gone. Oh
July 14, 2018 at 11:07
I have read your article september interviews my bad english. I didn’t get it all, i dont get interview?EU2528×
July 14, 2018 at 14:51

July 14, 2018 at 21:11
Hi Britsimon
Does case number AF00000423 have stand a chance for an interview?
July 15, 2018 at 00:09
Year?
July 14, 2018 at 13:25
Hello Brit! I am in doubt about something of DS260. The section of “Highest Level of Education Completed”, I don’t know which one to choose between “High school diploma” and “University no degree”. I am a student at second year of university, so I have finished my high school before. I don’t know the meaning of University no degree either, but I think that it is for those who haven’t finished their university yet, but I am not sure.
July 14, 2018 at 15:01
Key word – “completed”.
July 14, 2018 at 13:33
Hello. May be Bulletin for September current?
July 14, 2018 at 15:02
This was the final bulletin for DV2018
July 14, 2018 at 14:07
Hi Mr. Brit,
Is I need to choose air ticket that contains long transit in the first US airport? by other words, to deliver the yellow file that i received from the embassy, is it takes long time? what should i do after getting the visa? thanks in advance.
July 14, 2018 at 15:04
You hand over the yellow file at the first USA airport you land at – they know what to do.
July 14, 2018 at 16:09
Hello britsimon!
What can I do if I do not have a sponsor in the US? Can I show my personal bank information to the interviewer? Is there any way out for being able to prove them that I am not going to be a public charge to them?
July 14, 2018 at 16:12
https://britsimonsays.com/all-about-public-charge-affidavit-of-support-i-134/
July 14, 2018 at 16:29
Thanks a lot!
One more query!!
This is an extract from your post on public charge -“If you intend to show the above you will need to show around $10,000 for each adult, and a bit less for children (for example $25,000 for a family of four, $10,000 for a single person). This can be from a combination of the above.”
Q. Does this mean…I have to show $10,000 in my bank account, me being single, for being eligible for visa…
Thanks again, in advance!!
July 14, 2018 at 17:16
Yes – but this can vary – it isn’t a hard number.
July 14, 2018 at 16:20
Hi Simon
I made everything to adjust status last year and got to the interview and was accepted … On sep 28 they sent me a denial letter as the visas has ram out … I read all the denial conditions and never found this reason at all … U think i could get a lawyer and file a case on us dep of state or will be no good
Thanks
July 14, 2018 at 16:21
That would just be a waste of more money.
July 15, 2018 at 00:43
Greetings Brit, what should ve cause sherif denial of visa when its already accepted @ interview as approved ? what is really going on under after CO approved someone visa …
July 15, 2018 at 05:41
There is a review by a supervisor – and that might cause some issue to be raised that wasn’t noticed in the interview.
July 14, 2018 at 17:21
Dear Mr. Simon, I am DV2018 winner, case no. EU254** When I submitted the DS260 last year I was just graduated. This month I won a job. My question is: Do i have to open the DS260 to update it? Thank you in advance.
July 15, 2018 at 00:00
No.
July 15, 2018 at 01:10
Dear Sir,
I have been selected at DV2019, But i was born at kuwait and type city of born “Kuwait”, and
country of born “Kuait”, by mistake i put the country of chargeability Egypt, my parents are Egyptian and my wife is Egyption in this way i will be disqualified at interview for country of chargeability
July 15, 2018 at 05:45
OK – you have some risk. Normally this would be certain disqualification, because you have an AF case number, not a AS region. However, since your wife is Egyptian, you can say you were using the rules of cross chargeabilty. I suggest you read and STUDY my link below and print out the official documentation when you go to the interview. You do have a small risk as you should have given the reason when you chose Egypt – but they may forgive that.
https://britsimonsays.com/country-of-chargeability-for-dv-lottery/
July 15, 2018 at 03:43
Hi Simon
Just out of curiosity May I ask now the cases above final cutoff
How will kCC handle their processed DS 260. Some months ago they replied to me saying Your forms have been received and pending further review for continuous of your visa processing.
Mine is OC15xx. Very sad after final
VB.
Thanks
POLY.
July 15, 2018 at 04:23
The final VB is exactly that: final so case numbers above the final cut off numbers won’t get either a 2NL or a Visa as their number won’t become current during the remaining time of the current fiscal year. DV2018 selectees who don’t have their visas by September 30th, 2018 will unfortunately lose their chance forever to get a DV2018 green card as clearly stated in the Visa bulletin.
“Entitlement to immigrant status in the DV category lasts only through the end of the fiscal (visa) year for which the applicant is selected in the lottery. The year of entitlement for all applicants registered for the DV-2018 program ends as of September 30, 2018. DV visas may not be issued to DV-2018 applicants after that date. Similarly, spouses and children accompanying or following to join DV-2018 principals are only entitled to derivative DV status until September 30, 2018. DV visa availability through the very end of FY-2018 cannot be taken for granted. Numbers could be exhausted prior to September 30.
For September, immigrant numbers in the DV category are available to qualified DV-2018 applicants chargeable to all regions/eligible countries as follows. When an allocation cut-off number is shown, visas are available only for applicants with DV regional lottery rank numbers BELOW the specified allocation cut-off number.”
July 15, 2018 at 05:47
They are just left in the system.
July 15, 2018 at 09:12
2018EU28xxx, me and my wife submitted our ds260 forms.
1)will this affect in any way my future travelling to US with my current Btype visa?
2) next time me or my wife , when we apply for a US visa, there is a question “have you ever applied for immigration to US”. Do we need to answer YES because we have already submitted our DV ds260 form, even if our case number never came current?
July 15, 2018 at 17:05
1. It might come up as an issue in FUTURE APPLICATIONS for non immigrant visas. It is not a disqualification, just a factor.
2. Yes.
July 15, 2018 at 09:58
Hi Simon, I am Abu. I got a DV lottory chance in this year with a case number of 2019AF20XXXX. But, in the mean time I got some mistakes in the DS 260 form that I have already submitted before a month. By now I want to unlock it and make some correction.. My mistakes were
1. In the work/education/training information field. I filled my previous job as of my primary occupation including its full address then after I read the question following it “Does this job requires two years training or work experience i answered “yes” then i wrote my current job title and duties. Since my primary occupation is my current job. Right?
2. For the question “Do you know a language other than your mother toung?” I replied no in the anticipation that always translators will be there at your interview time.
Dear Simon, what do you advice me then? Does unlocking could cause delay or even denial at interview depending upon my changes that i will make after unlocking
With regards
Abu
July 15, 2018 at 17:06
Unlocking doesn’t cause delay. The FAQ explains that – read the FAQ!

July 15, 2018 at 17:10

Hi BritSimon,
My name was drawn out for the 2018 DV, but with a high case number for Oceania. Therefore, I have missed out on an interview. Just wondering if I can still enter the lottery again for 2020 or have completely missed an opportunity as my name has been drawn previously?
Thanks,
Clare
July 16, 2018 at 14:42
The draw is random – you can enter again.
July 16, 2018 at 07:17
Hello Simon,
i am a DV lottery winner of 2018 and i recently did my activation trip on the 3rd of May 2018.
However due to work contractual obligations at home i had to go back. my question is, for the activation trip, what is the most acceptable timeline for re-entry? considering this is my first trip, can i re-enter in April 2019 for good? (my contract expires in June 2019 but i can leave in April) or do i need to apply for a re-entry permit?
appreciate your input on this. thanks.

1. THat is not a question.
2. Some embassies will ask you to send them, but typically not.
