Dear Brit sir
My interview was on Feb 2018. CO just ask one question which country went and why ? i just answer ” i went Qatar for worked Accountant” then CO gave me AP paper with his signature. He told me that they will inform me later.
I wait for 60 days and i send email inquiring my case details and reason of delay. They reply me ” Our record shows that this case is under legally mandated administrative processing in order to verify the qualifications for this visa”
Then i sent all of my education certificate scan pdf saying in subject “I have attached herewith the qualifications certificate for your consideration. I hope that it will support and help to verify the qualifications of my case”
Now it five month finished. I used to check my status twice of day , they checked 4 times but status is same “AP”
Sir, i am planning to send all of my worked experience certificate, Visa, job offer latter, tax clearance letter by scanning in pdf so please advice me .
Thank you a lot

Hi Simon,
First of all I’d like to thank you for your work that is really very helpful. I’ll have an interview in September. I have the the translation of certain documents (marriage certificate, military document) required during interview. But, they were prepared last year (June, 2017). Is the date of the translation important? Should I prepare new ones?
July 21, 2018 at 21:09
Not important.

Dear Simon, Your work is appreciated by all. I am a DV 2018 winner. I went to the US in 2014 as a tourist. I was given a ten year tourist visa. I had DV lottery interview on July 10 and consulate chief canceled my ten year touristic visa. He stamped it in black. I was surprised also to be given an administrative processing. My question is what does canceling my tourist visa mean? Does it mean that they will give me another? Thank you.
July 21, 2018 at 21:20
I don’t know.
July 21, 2018 at 20:47

July 21, 2018 at 22:19
I was trying to find out what method you pay – I’ve found lots of information about paying – where – but not how ??? cashiers check, credit card, personal check. I read three articles today about the fees but no-one said by what method ? I must be missing something. Perhaps if u have a link that would be helpful?
July 21, 2018 at 22:20

Hello,
Family of four. What happens if only one dependent fails the medical examination ? Can the rest of family get GCard or whole family is denied ? Thanks in advance
July 22, 2018 at 16:02
The rest could be approved – but check the FAQ about diseases that cause denial – only 4.
July 22, 2018 at 10:35
Dear Brit, is it better (I-134 form) to be filled only by my friend or is it better for both of them (husband and wife) to fill it, of course because of greater income when they fill both.Is it right acorrding to dv lottery rule, or only one of them can be the sponsor for my family?
July 22, 2018 at 16:04
A couple can combine their income on the form (as they do for tax).
July 22, 2018 at 12:04
Hi, Brit. Can you first check your DV result not selected and check after a month and win.
July 22, 2018 at 16:06
There is sometimes a second draw, so additional winner are added in September.
July 22, 2018 at 12:36
greeted / Brit, a 2018EU question I have a very high number 353 ## and ask if there is a chance to make a change with my friend who is the winner of 2018EU with numb 201## can i change the numb, where my friend agrees for this action, my friend did not have the opportunity to continue that did not work the conditions and did not continue with the Dsl 260..and whether this change is allowed, can I ask the emigration center o this change, thanks
July 22, 2018 at 14:02
Every case number being allocated to a specific person, it is impossible to transfer one’s CN to another person. If your number isn’t on the VB, unfortunately you won’t be called for an interview and you can’t use the CN of a friend even if his number is current. Both cases are lost
July 22, 2018 at 16:11
No.
July 22, 2018 at 13:57
Hi Brit,
Quick question for you:
My passport expires on Apr 8th 2019, I thought I would be called for an interview in July but with the low increase pace for EU I have my interview on Sept 12th. I read that I must bring a passport valid for 6 months beyond my intended date of entry in the US. Once I complete the interview and I receive my passport back I will go back in the US (I already live there), so I am anticipating a return date end of Sept (if passport goes back to me in, let’s say, 10 days).
My question is : if for some reason my passport goes back to me or if I go back to the US after Oct 8th (so less than 6 months validity for my passport) does it matter a lot?
I wanted to make a new passport (takes 6 weeks so I am a bit short now) but in this case the consulate writes “VOID” on the previous passport and I used this passport for the entire application.
What do you suggest me to do?
THanks a lot, as always !
July 22, 2018 at 16:13
You can travel with a new passport and the old voided one (with a current visa)
July 22, 2018 at 16:26
Thanks ! So it doesn’t matter if the passport I used to fill out the DS-260 is voided when I go to the embassy for my interview (I will bring the new one too of course) right?
July 22, 2018 at 17:19
Take them both. If you have them both they will only use the new one for the visa.
July 22, 2018 at 17:51
Thanks !!
July 22, 2018 at 14:00
Hi Brit.hope you doing well..in the site ceac ds section is not working..is it formal technical checking or they are checking informations in ds ?
July 22, 2018 at 16:14
They don’t keep me informed. Strange, they should, but they don’t.
July 22, 2018 at 14:05
The Consular Electronic Application Center – Immigrant/Diversity Visa portal is currently undergoing maintenance.does this mean there will be some change for dv winners 2018 ?
July 22, 2018 at 16:14
No
July 22, 2018 at 14:30
hlo brit there was a mistake in ds 260 form in which the year of completion of higher secondary (10+2) it happened to be 2010 instead of 2008. and i have completed my masters at present and doing a job. the bachelor date and higher secondary school (10+2) date are same as i started bachelor on 2008. will that create a problem??my interview is on august 2018 and my case is ready. any suggestions?
July 22, 2018 at 17:07
You cannot change the DS260 now – so go to the interview as is. I don’t think there is a big problem.
July 22, 2018 at 15:10
when will he ds260 site open?
July 22, 2018 at 17:07
After the period of maintenance is over.
July 22, 2018 at 18:36

Hey Guys, just a quick question:
My mother in law won 2018 DV lottery and her case number is EU 25,3XX; is there a chance that they will schedule an interview for her somewhere in August or September?
July 22, 2018 at 21:13
In September – yes.

Hi Brit , we are very upsets, we still under AP from April , if we try to inform them , the standard reply is the case under administrative process & can’t expect the time to end , so what we can do , we lose our patience
July 22, 2018 at 22:52
There is nothing you can except wait.
July 22, 2018 at 23:11
Hello Mr simon,
M’y wife and i used our old passports before wedding to fill the DS 260. Now my wife plan to change the passport and make a new one with my name mention. Do you think it’s necessary that she change the passport to go for the interview ? If yes you should make a new one too ? Thanks
July 22, 2018 at 23:24
Use your own judgement.
July 23, 2018 at 18:54

Do you think there is any chance that more visas would open up to Oceania if they are under filled in terms of area? I only ask as it seems that the no response rate is rather low for the 1200-1400 CN and they only had a 1450 maximum for the final VB. Actually the non response has been pretty high for OC all of DV2018.
All the penultimate interviews appeared to take place in early July for that range (1200-1400 CN as well – VB July) 2018. Thus, leaving August for the current VB and September for ‘leftovers’?
Have you ever seen that take place?
July 23, 2018 at 06:13
No, that won’t happen.
July 23, 2018 at 06:13
Hi Sir;
Is there any hope for being refused under Act 221(g)?
Thanks.
July 23, 2018 at 15:11
221(g) is AP. People can be approved or refused after AP.
July 23, 2018 at 08:35
Hi Brit
the VB for Aug was current for Africa then there is 34k for September.
Numbers above 34k won t have 2NLs right?
July 23, 2018 at 08:38
Dear Simon
Sorry i meant 39.5K is the cut off for September for Africa.
is it normal to go from Current in Aug to in Sept 39.5 K
numbers above 39.5K won t get 2NL right ?
thank you
July 23, 2018 at 15:15
Correct. No it’s not “normal”, but it is possible, and has happened.
July 23, 2018 at 15:14
39500 is the final number.
July 23, 2018 at 10:02
Brit what would be reason why i woudnot get 2nl
July 23, 2018 at 13:53
I am below the cutt off number
July 23, 2018 at 15:16
Again, as I have told you before, patience!
July 23, 2018 at 10:22
Hello simon , hope you are doing well.I have a small issue and would like you to enlighten me: Am having my interview on september and am planing to get my medical check at the end of august so by then will get 6 months ( will leave on february to usa) this would be ideal because my husband (who is travelling with me , have to sit for an important exam) anyway the problem is that my passport expires on july and when i checked the “pre-interview check list specific to my home embassy it says “Unexpired passport valid for six (6) months beyond your intended date of entry”.
Question: 1-should i renew my passport before interview? if so, does it complicate things in interview or make my case go AP.
2- Or tell them in the interview that probably will renew my passport
3-Or Just renew it after the interview (if i got accepted)
Thank you for taking your time to answer me
July 23, 2018 at 15:19
1. Yes. Take old and new to the interview.
July 23, 2018 at 19:30
I know am being insistent but we are really afraid of getting AP so advice us to :
1- renew the passport before interview (am worried that they modify the ds260 to change the passport number so then will go AP)
2- taking the question 1 into consideration ,would it be better to change the passport after the interview so i can avoid any risk of AP (will use ol voided passport with current visa with new one when traveling)
Ps:i got married after the results.we field the ds-260 with my husband and we got his name in the appointment letter. In the new passport my surname will change ,will this affect the whole situation.PLEASE REPLY IN DETAILS. Thanks
July 23, 2018 at 19:35
I answered with the best advice. RELAX!
July 23, 2018 at 12:50
Hi,
Do CEAC send any status updates about processing DS260? Or if there is no issues with data I’ve provided, they will just send 2NL?
So no statuses like – “In process” or something?
July 23, 2018 at 15:21
No status updates. Just wait for the 2NL (based on your case number).
July 23, 2018 at 13:50
Hi Brit,
Fist , i want to thank you for helping us…
When i filled ds-260 – i said that i was vaccinated but now i could not find vaccination records ! Is it a problem for refusal !!!
July 23, 2018 at 17:04
No. The doctor at the medical will administer needed vaccinations.
July 23, 2018 at 14:06
Hi Simon, it’s Max again with the number 2018EU36xx. We applied for DV visas in December and then after more that 200 days of AP got email saying sorry put we ran out of free visas for you and etc.
So the question is: we don’t know whether AP has been completed, right or even passed? So having police certificate and medicals expired what are the chances to get visas allocated if some of them will be available in August or September? zero? You advised to wait and hope. Does it make sense to re-do medicals and police certificates in the big hope or not?
Many thanks for your opinion.
Thanks, Max
July 23, 2018 at 15:09
I can’t guess your chance – there is no way to know. If the embassy wants you to renew the medical, they will tell you to do so. If you do it without their instruction, you might just be wasting more money. Your police certs don’t need renewing.
July 23, 2018 at 17:23
Hi. Great site . I checked the FAQ but can’t seem to find it there. Our interview appointment has been scheduled but we are not able to make that date as we are expecting a baby very close to that hence travel not possible. How do we change the appointment? The site for changing the appointment doesn’t seem to actually facilitate it. Thanks in advance
July 23, 2018 at 17:51
People that miss or change their appointments are in real danger of not getting a visa. You can contact the embassy to see if they will do it – but even if they do – I would NOT recommend it. Find a way to make the journey.
July 23, 2018 at 17:24
hi simon
ithank god we have received our visas, but our names do not appear complete in the visa
for example it appears
as rody sameer mou instead of rody sameer moustafa hany
1.is this normal?
2. my 2 daughter;s Iv category appear to be DV3 , is this normal? since me is DV1 my husband’s DV2 so is this normal that my 2 daughters have the same category DV3 or is it a mistake?
July 23, 2018 at 17:52
1. No – speak to the embassy.
2. Yes
July 23, 2018 at 18:28
IS THERE a limit for the number of characters in the visa ?
since i counted my characters and found that it exceeds 20
also my name is written complete at the bottom of the visa
but the given name is the one that is cut off
so is this still a mistake?
July 23, 2018 at 18:38
surname is written complete but the given name is truncated
given name: Rody sameer mou
July 23, 2018 at 19:02
Yeah – it is probably no problem – but contact the embassy to be sure.
July 23, 2018 at 18:55
It might be – but I still suggest calling the embassy to confirm. There *is* a limitation on the name length – but what is important is to confirm their system has the whole name.
July 24, 2018 at 07:06
Hi Simon I contacted the embassy and they said it’s normal because my name is too long
Thank you simon
July 24, 2018 at 13:51
Great.
July 23, 2018 at 18:09
Hi, Mr. Brit.
I changed my sponsor. I will have the medical test next week. But yet I didn’t have the sponsor letter. at the medical test day I should bring the Address that I am going to stay in U.S. Should I give them the new address or the one I filled at the time I did 260 form?
July 23, 2018 at 18:15
What if i don’t have sponsor but have money on bank(5000$)
July 23, 2018 at 18:17
Please read the FAQ.
July 23, 2018 at 20:06

There is nothing else she can do. She can only wait.
July 23, 2018 at 21:36
Thanks Brit !
Her number is 3636 ! I count from your website that there about 160 pleople from my country are placed on AP since October last year .
Do you think they will have a chance or not ?
July 23, 2018 at 21:39
I don’t know.
July 23, 2018 at 21:41
Ok thanks anyways
This thing is really frustrating! I give up bro
July 23, 2018 at 22:23
Hi simon, My case Number 2018EU1XXX
i am waiting from October 2017 for AP (over 9 months) Turkey
should i give up, or have to do something?
July 23, 2018 at 22:35
You should wait – but if not approved by October 1 then you have no more chance.
July 24, 2018 at 00:48
Woow ,i received today 2NL but my case is AF 48xxx i got surprised ,i phoned KCC to confirm ,they said i must not receive so ,there must be something in the system after 10 min checking my case she said i have to wait until embassy call me is the visas still available ,i did not understand so ,would like to explain so please?i am so scared .Thank you brother.
July 24, 2018 at 01:00
You should not have received that – so I think it will be retracted somehow. That is very unfortunate. Almost cruel.
July 24, 2018 at 04:23
Hi Mr.Brit,
i came to the usa in 10 april 2018,and i didn’t recieve my green card yet ,i got a letter in june 1 for taking my biometric fingerprint again , and my status in the website says this (As of June 1, 2018, we are actively reviewing your Form OS155A, Immigrant Visa and Alien Registration, Receipt Number ……..
