Updating like 8 times this month .the last update was 31 . Two days ago . Also when i called the embassy the say they don’t know…and visas almost runing out+++ Do u think we have a chance to get issued next coming days ? Thank you
September 2, 2018 at 21:22
I don’t know.

September 2, 2018 at 20:18
Hi Simon,
Regarding i134, should my sponsor add his spouse as dependant although she has her own income and that is much above the minimum required for one person?
Thank you.
September 2, 2018 at 21:25
That is up to the sponsor.
September 2, 2018 at 21:38
Thanks Simon.
But the sponsor (and I) do not clearly understand what is to be listed under Dependent section. Normally all family members of my sponsor have their own incomes and financially they can cover themselves.
1. So should my sponsor list his family members as dependent if they have their own incomes enough for themselves?
2. Basically what is to be considered a Dependant?
Thank you again.
September 2, 2018 at 21:50
The form is very clear. The sponsor just needs to answer all the questions.
September 3, 2018 at 08:23
Hello Brit , my interview Is Sept 11,next week. Please hope there will not be public holiday in America Embassy as a remembrance day of the attack made on Americans 2006. I heard they went for Holiday today for Labor Day. So I’m just afraid, next week Tuesday might be another public holiday and the American Embassy will not operate.
September 3, 2018 at 14:42
Sept 11 is not a holiday.
September 2, 2018 at 21:52
From google
Definition of dependant – a person who relies on another, especially a family member, for financial support.
September 2, 2018 at 21:59
Thank you.
So in that case, my sponsor should not list them (including spouse) as they are finsncially autosufficient, right?
September 2, 2018 at 22:20
For goodness sake.
Umwimukira. I know you are trying to help – but please don’t add to the confusion.
Tiune. The *SPONSOR* should be able to do this! You don’t need to be asking these questions, as YOU are not to be involved completing the form!
The form asks for dependents, and even asks whether that person is partially or fully dependent – but rather than trying to overthink it, the sponsor should list all the family (the spouse and any child living at home). It really is that simple when you read the form.
September 2, 2018 at 23:09
Hi Brit. Am still waiting reply about my quiz .it I worn green card through dv lottery and my spouse is USA citizen if i divorce her will my citizenship be affected or deported?
September 3, 2018 at 00:05
You should read the THREE replies I have already given to you.
September 2, 2018 at 23:11
Thank you Simon. I am trying to help my sponsor as he simply asked me this question when filling the form and I didn’t know the answer.
You are of great help especially to all of us who tend to overthink.
Thank you a lot and sorry for any bothering.
September 2, 2018 at 23:56
Simon,please;
What can stoped a LPR from obtaining citizenship as I came here through the dv lottery.Residing in US over 2 years now with my family.
Am getting some douhtful information from a relative here in the US and belief he wants to mislead me
Please and hints? I trust your dv knowledge and wisdom 24/7.
Thank you Mr Brit!!
September 3, 2018 at 00:07
I am not a citizenship expert – google it.
September 3, 2018 at 03:24
Hi Simon, We have received our interview time and date. Its in October and my son’s passport expires in March. Should I replace it now before our interview or just have it done when its due and carry the old passport with the USA visa in (if we are approved at interview). Thanks so much, I’ve tried finding this on previous threads and through searching but didn’t find anything.
September 3, 2018 at 04:36
Better to replace it now.
September 3, 2018 at 08:42
Hi dear
my case number is AF26 and I had the interview on july 10. Do you think i still have a chance to get the visa thoigh i am still under AP. I am from Morocco. thank you sir.
September 3, 2018 at 14:43
Until September 30 there is a chance.
September 4, 2018 at 04:16
Thank you. How do you explain that most applicant who are under AP in Morocco have not got the visa yet? 2 why do not the condulate or kcc reallocate visas for AP cases after they are cleard. It is crazy that in casablanca consultate no AP case has been called after being clear and the visas are running out. I feel that is being done on purpose to fail applicants. I mean since the beginning of interviews of DV 2018 winnerw a lot were given AP especially for those who live in Fez and Tangier and nobody has been called. We check the update and it read AP but when we call the consulate the ap is finished. The problem is that nobody was reallocated a visa as if Ap means hour case is refused. We are waiting and this is really crazy. Other applicants got their visas despite having jigh case numbers but they do not live or were not porn in fes or Tangier. It seems that some citiew in Morocco are considered dangerous. Yhanks for your help. I just want to share with people here domeone might help.
September 4, 2018 at 05:13
I don’t have an explanation – I don’t know case specifics.
September 3, 2018 at 11:37
hi Simon,

I don’t know. You can decide.
September 3, 2018 at 12:41
Hi Britt
Plz help me answer
My speaking English is not good, almost poor. I am facing my interview in other country than my own. Can I still use my mother language in interview? Or if I can’t use English well in the interview, will it affect my visa?
cheers,
September 3, 2018 at 14:47
They are unlikely to have interpreters available for every language on earth. So – English is best.
September 4, 2018 at 15:17
Hi, if I can’t speak well, will it affect my visa?
September 4, 2018 at 16:33
No
September 3, 2018 at 12:57
Hello Simon,
Thank you for all your help.
I am a 2018 DV applicant, I gave my interview about a month ago. However, I have received the below interview follow up email from the Embassy. Is this worrisome? Kindly share your thoughts.
“This email confirms you have been scheduled for a follow-up interview on…..
September 3, 2018 at 14:48
I don’t know anything about your case.
September 3, 2018 at 12:57
Hello Mr. Brit,
While checking the https://ceac.state.gov website, I’ve seen that my visa status went from “ready” to “administrative processing” on the 29th of august, and then from “administrative processing” to “issued” on the 30th of august.
Since then, I haven’t received a message on my phone. I called Aramex and my passport was not to be found.
I tried to check my visa status once again today, but to my surprise I found out that it went back to “administrative processing”.
I am confused, what does this mean ? Is there a possibility that I won’t get my visa?
Thank you for your time.
September 3, 2018 at 14:49
Exercise some patience.
September 5, 2018 at 21:04
I just want to know if it’s normal or common that my status went from “issued” Back to “administrative processing”.
Thank you.
September 5, 2018 at 21:21
Not normal or common, no.
September 3, 2018 at 13:30
Hi,
can i know please how many quota is give to Africa? When i see the data 7571 cases is ready and 3279. Do you thinks all this 10850 cases can be treate before September 30? Thanks you for your disponibility
September 3, 2018 at 14:50
Many of those cases are from previous months (people don’t show up for the interview, AP cases etc), so no they will not all get visas.
September 3, 2018 at 14:57
Thanks you so much Mr Brit. But do you know how many quota is for africa for DV2018 please?
September 3, 2018 at 18:11
43% – so about 21500 at 50k.
September 5, 2018 at 09:30
Thanks you so much Brit. May God bless you for all

Hi,
I have won dv lottery 2019. Im a doctor and in order to be eligible to practise medicine in USA I need to pass the USMLE and that’s ok cause I’ve already passed the first part, while filling in form ds 260 in section about the job i’ll have there what shold be the answer as I still have not cmpleted the exams.
thank you in advance.
September 3, 2018 at 14:52
It doesn’t matter – just answer what you expect to do.
September 3, 2018 at 16:44
Hi Brit. I have arguemebt with one person.
She claimed that her acquaintance went an interview( the interview place is in another country) so he has wrong paper, and counselor said him ok, bring it for 27th of August ( interview was held in 22th ) is that possible? And he went there again in 27th and they denied because he put wrong city name on his application while applied.
So why i gave this question to you:
Normally, an interview date if you have a lack on your papers they gave you time to go baxk country and sent them with post. Actually before i have never heard that they make 2nd appointment. So other thing is if he did wrong in his application and counselor already knew it, why still they sent him back for high school certificate?
September 3, 2018 at 18:12
Yes it is possible and has happened.
September 3, 2018 at 17:04
Hello BritSimon
helpme with the following concern, when I registered to participate in the DV-2019 lottery in the children’s section, we said that we should place the unmarried children and children under 21 as I have 1 daughter but married and older than 21 years old. I did not have any children, when I filled out form DS-260 in the question section, if I had children, I asked if and what year I was born, so it is clear that she is over 21 years old. I entered the form to participate that I did not have any children because he is over 21 years old and on form DS-260 I stated that he had 1 indicating date of birth.
September 3, 2018 at 18:12
No problem.
September 3, 2018 at 17:25
Hi Brit,
What should I answer for the question
1.Do you want the Social Security Administration to issue a Social Security number and a card?
provided that the applicant is in F2 status and will apply for AOS.
September 3, 2018 at 18:13
The DS260 is worth filing for AOS cases, but the answers are not important.
September 3, 2018 at 18:38
Hi Brit, God bless you for what you been doing to help us here ! Please help me clear things for my Friend now :
** My high school Certificate year of birth changed but all other necessary documents line up with my real year of birth . I will go and swear “Afidafit” and Change it Lawfully to my REAL year of Birth by adding the Affidavit form ; I wanna know if it will affect my interview??
NB: I play the Lottery with my real Age also.
DV lottery 2019 winner, Ghana .
September 3, 2018 at 19:13
Ghana is a risky consulate because there are many people with documents that have discrepancies. So – it is VERY important to show honesty, and genuine documents. That is the best you can do.
September 3, 2018 at 19:53
Thank you Sir Brit, then I hope I will be safe with the “Affidavit” in Ghana as you said its a risky consulate but I’m ready to prove its genuine ?! God bless sir
September 3, 2018 at 20:04
Hi Brit.If in my interview I show to the CO that I have afidavit soport I134 and my bank acount ,its wiil be better for mi or I need one of them?thanks

September 4, 2018 at 16:24
I don’t have an expectation of a particular date.
September 4, 2018 at 09:04

We are unable to process your request to unlock the DS-260 for 2019EU00005xxx. You will have an opportunity to make any necessary changes to your DS-260 after your initial Diversity Visa interview at a United States Embassy or Consulate. If you need to submit a new DS-260 for a new spouse or child, please contact the Embassy or Consulate where your interview will take place after you receive a scheduling confirmation letter through the Diversity Visa Entrant Status Check system. For changes to an existing DS-260, it is not necessary to contact the Embassy or Consulate in advance.
In order for the Kentucky Consular Center to assist with inquiries regarding a specific Diversity Visa (DV) case, you must provide the Principal Applicant’s full name, complete case number, and date of birth in the following format (MMDDYYYY) as entered on the original entry. Please remember that the Kentucky Consular Center does not have the authority to tell you whether or not your specific case will be disqualified. Only a consular officer can do that at the time of your visa interview. Do not send any paper documents to the Kentucky Consular Center.

Hi Brit,
Thank you for your helpful information. I am 2019 dv winner. My case no. is AS47xx. I have been waiting for 2NL.
1. I am from Nepal. Do I need I34? Or just Welcome letter from my relative (Sister in law) is ok.
2. Do I need to show my bank balance?
3. Kindly let me know when shall I receive 2NL.
4. I guess dv 2020 is coming soon. Can I again apply for it.
Thank you
Sno
September 4, 2018 at 16:34
1. In the past most Nepal selectees used a welcome letter, but an I-134 is also useful. Get both.
2. Possibly. Overprepare.
3. Early to mid 2019
4. Yes.

September 5, 2018 at 05:19
Hi Simon,
Thank you for your informative blog. I was successful as the primary applicant in the diversity visa this year. My husband and I entered the USA and received our green cards. All in my maiden name. We have just returned to Australia as my husband and I got pregnant weeks after we arrived in the USA. If all goes well, we aim to return to the USA within 12 months. I read on your website, the baby will automatically get PR if he/she enters with us within 12 months.
My question for you is, I would now like to change my last name to my married name, to have the same name as my child. I would like to start this process now in Australia, which would mean getting a new passport, ID etc etc. Will this complicate returning to the USA with a green card in my maiden name – which I would change after we return.
Thank you again,
Sarah
September 5, 2018 at 06:22
Hi Sarah,
Congratulations on your GC and baby.
Tell me please, have you been interviewed in Sydney?
Could you please share your interview experience here https://britsimonsays.com/interview-experience-stories/
I am a DV2019 winner and I will be interviewed in Sydney.
Thank you.
Petr
September 5, 2018 at 06:25
Hi Petr, I believe everyone in Australia is required to attend the Sydney consulate for the DV interviews. I am from Melbourne but was required to go to Sydney.
September 5, 2018 at 07:39
Hi Sarah, please what is your dv case number? is it for dv2019 ? meanwhile that was so quick ,,please kindly share your experience with the CO and hw long does it take to get your visa issued, also how long it takes you to get your green card posted to you, regard

Obviously it is a DV2018 case as no one has been interviewed for DV2019 yet… The rules and procedures are pretty clear. FY2019 hasn’t even started yet so be a bit logical. You might need to be more patient as this is a very long process for every DV selectee every selected year. Also if you’re looking for people sharing their experiences, there is an entire thread already on this topic. That would be useful and wise to read.

You would show evidence of the name change at the POE. It should be OK – travel with old and new passports.

Hi Brit,
First, thank you so much for all your help throughout this process and answering my questions before. I m a 2018 DV winner and doing AOS. My case was approved last month and i just received the green card. However, my file was never requested from KCC. I called multiple times before and after my case was approved and I even called after receiving the green card. I am just worried that this is an essential step and needs to be done to avoid technical issues in the future. Is that something I need to worry about??
