Greetings sir
I wish to know whether only the principal applicants will submit his documents to the kcc or it include all the Derivatives for further processing

Middle name is Mohammad ali
Family name is Shaikh
But in my passport the family name has been left blank and in the name column my entire name is written-Samir mohammad Ali Shaikh. How do I proceed while filling up the forum?

November 6, 2018 at 12:32
Dear Britsimon,
My number is 2019EU00024XXX. Husband wife and 3 derivatives.
If I have over 100 000 euros in the bank and a house in France of rentable value 5000 euros /month and an up and down career as an actor (more up than down at the moment), do I need need a sponsor to fill out forms I-864 or I-134, (assuming I get to the interview stage!).
November 6, 2018 at 14:43
That is safer and simpler. It would be the I-134.
November 6, 2018 at 15:01
Dear Brit,
Thank you for the enormous support and guidance.
Case # 2019 AF89xx
Interview: Dec 2018
Question: My high school leaving certificate, transcript ( grade 9-12) and Diploma read as Elyas, Eliyas & Elyas respectively. However, all the remaining documents ( Degree, Masters, passports, work experiences, etc) read as: Elias.
Will this have a negative consequence on the spellings’ variation during interview and after?
Many thanks in advance
November 6, 2018 at 15:10
I don’t think so – but I cannot be certain.
November 6, 2018 at 15:09
Hi, I am filling an application for Visitor B2 Visa to US. I have epilepsy and am on treatment. For the following question in the DS 160 form, what should be my answer?
Do you have a mental or physical disorder that poses or is likely to pose a threat to the safety or welfare of yourself or others?
November 6, 2018 at 15:09
I only answer DV lottery questions.
November 6, 2018 at 15:34

Anyone (if your embassy accepts welcome letters).
November 6, 2018 at 16:08
Hello Brit,
I have my interview next week.
My question: i had already a plan to get married on next march 2019 but since i won the DV I am struggling with questions in my head. I am a black african and my fiancée is an arab and currently we are not living in the same country and i did not add her in my DS-260 because we are not married yet.
Some friends advice me to get married before going to US and others suggest me to wait until there I send her as a fiancé and get married in US. However, some say it’ll be considered as a fake marriage for document purposes because she is an arab and I am an African and we have almost never lived in the same country.
I am struggling with what is my best option to live with her in US as soon as possible.?
Do you think it is a good idea to notice her name or our case during my interview?
Need advice from you Brit.
Thanks for all
November 6, 2018 at 17:37
Getting married before the interview was scheduled would have been better. But you left that too late. So – you will now have to sponsor her once you are in the USA which will take around 2 years.
November 7, 2018 at 04:00
Thanks for replying
However, 2 years if I sponsor her as my fiancee, my wife or both?
What could possibly take less time?
November 8, 2018 at 18:16
Same bro. 2 years too
November 11, 2018 at 16:58
Thanks so much.
However when starts the chrono? Is it from the day I got the visa or when I touch the US ground?
Thanks once again
November 11, 2018 at 17:14
Neither. You have to move to the USA, settle (get a job etc), and then apply. *Around* 2 years from then. It’s not a “chrono”. It’s a process.
November 6, 2018 at 16:17

November 6, 2018 at 17:53
Good morning,
I accidentally entered the wrong mailing address on the DVlottery entry form. I have filled one out for several years now, and when the list of prior addresses popped up I accidentally selected an address from two years ago instead of my current address. I submitted it before correcting the issue.
Is there anyway to amend the situation? Is it likely to cause a big issue if I am selected? I feel as if it isn’t the worst mistake you can make since I did actually live there at one time (and the DVlottery seems to communicate mostly via email); however, I feel anxious about it and would love to hear your thoughts on the issue
Thank you
November 6, 2018 at 18:43
You can’t amend it, but it’s trivial.
November 6, 2018 at 21:55

November 6, 2018 at 22:11
Hello 🙂
I submitted an entry for the DV-2020 and accidentally inverted Last Name and First Name (ex, I put Jane/White instead of White/Jane). I have two questions in regards. 1) Does this error jeopardize my chances of being “randomly selected”? and 2) If by any chance I should get selected, can this error be corrected on the following stages? Or is it something intolerable?
November 6, 2018 at 22:17
1. No
2. Yes possibly.

Dear Simon,
Thank you so much for consistance help and support.
Lately I have noticed a good number of DV cases has been rejected at the US embassy in Khartoum the mean reasons and cause of visa denied is (No clear plan in the US) therfore I’m seeking your help inform of suggestion on how to answer the Question ( what’s your plan in the US) as it’s become one of the critical question and causes visa denial eventually.
November 7, 2018 at 17:31
It isn’t my answer that is important. It should be YOUR answer.
November 7, 2018 at 16:47
Hi,
My Nephew had an interview yesterday, they didn’t interview him and were told that in his application brith location was entered USA. I did fill application for him and it is no way that I can make a mistake and instead Iran, write USA. What can I do? Should I hire a lawyer, if yes, do you know any lawyer? Thank you very much
November 7, 2018 at 17:40
They have the data entered. Why do you think they are wrong and you didn’t make a mistake?
Additionally, there is no appeal process, so I think hiring a lawyer would be a waste of time and money.
November 7, 2018 at 16:48

You can submit the documents if you have them.
November 7, 2018 at 22:06
Hi Brit.I’m winner of 2019 and while submitting my entry I have made a mistake instead of writing Armenia as my birthplace I wrote Spain where now I am living and have nationality.
1.Is this a grave error??
2.how can it affect of getting visa?
November 7, 2018 at 23:30
Choosing the wrong country can technically cause denial. However, in this case the countries are in the same region and you gained no benefit – so they can choose to ignore the error. It will be up to the CO.
November 8, 2018 at 17:59
Thankss a lot for your answer
November 7, 2018 at 22:40
Hello Mr Brit
Is there any problem if the two DV winners fill the same address in state,? One is from the family member and the other is not. But the person in the state have the capacity for both of us.
November 7, 2018 at 23:31
Not normally.
November 7, 2018 at 23:44
Hi Simon, as this is my first comment, I wanted to take a moment first to thank you for all your work with this site, I’ve found the information invaluable so far with my DV application and entry.
My case number is 2019EU1XXX, I had an interview scheduled in October which I attended. I was asked to resubmit my school certificates and university degree after being first authenticated (I’m British and had submitted originals but had not had them notarised or legalised in any way as I was hoping it was clear they are genuine and my work experience was sufficient; and as I was using my wife’a nationality for chargability I had focused on her eligibility through education as her job would not qualify). I was given our passports back and told by CO once I submit again the documents and passports at same time we would have the visa approved. I received no letter or any paperwork and the CEAC does not recognise my case number. I am a little confused, am I now in AP? I received no official confirmation of such and am a little worried about what is going on. When I asked about timelines I was told about 2 weeks to issue the visa once everything submitted with passports. I was given no deadlines to submit the authenticated documents. I double checked if my work experience could not be used instead to prove eligibility and I was told they need the school stuff. It is taking longer than I expected to have my school certificates verified as there is no simple system in the UK to do this and it may take 4-6 weeks to do so (numerous exam boards) the degree verification however is very straightforward.
1. Have you ever come across a similar situation before at interview where nothing is issued in writing and should we be optimistic or is it still too early to feel positive?
2. Do you have any idea if a UK degree alone can be accepted as education eligibility or should I wait and gather my school certificates also and submit everything together?
November 8, 2018 at 00:27
1. Yes I have seen such cases, you cannot assume anything from what you have said.
2. Strictly speaking they should ask you for secondary school education up to about age 18 (GCSEs and A levels in the UK). I would gather them if I were you.
In general it sounds like you are experiencing delays because your education documents are not “local” to the embassy (either yours or your wife’s). That means they might need to check with embassies in the countries concerned.
November 8, 2018 at 08:06
Thanks Simon. I am getting my GCSE and A-Level certificates verified by the relevant exam boards (3 of which) and then getting a notary public to notarise as authentic and send for apostile at legalisation office. It’s true the embassy was not used to UK documents so I believe this is part of the issue. Fingers crossed once I gather everything and resubmit per the request.
Would you say therefore my case is likely classed as in AP?
November 8, 2018 at 18:14
Yes
November 8, 2018 at 01:19
I know I didn’t make a mistake because I have a screen shot of what I entered. Do you think I can do any thing about it?
November 8, 2018 at 18:08
No.
November 8, 2018 at 03:53
Hi Simon,
My wife has was selected during the DV 2019 in Africa.
Her handbag containing her secondary school certificates was snatched by thieves recently. Can she send a sealed certified copy from the authorized institution responsible for issuing the secondary certificates together with her academic transcript from her secondary school she attended? Does it pose any risk? In our case the authorised body responsible for issuing secondary school certificates is the West African Examination council(WAEC)
More Over, she is a registered nurse with her nursing certificates intact.
Thanks
November 8, 2018 at 18:10
I cannot say whether that will cause a risk or not – it is up to the CO.
November 8, 2018 at 08:54
Hi Brit,
Is Edexcel A level Certificate enough to prove My high school diploma or does it have to go for certification anywhere?(to convert it to the American education level)
and is there any minimum grade they see to issue a visa?
November 8, 2018 at 17:13
U need it to be ur countries high school certificate…diploma’s similar to GED are not accepted
November 9, 2018 at 05:34
Thanks Sasha!
and what about the minimum grade?
November 9, 2018 at 09:36
You jst need to pass all the subject and u must have an overall pass….
November 8, 2018 at 09:13
hi simon.hope you are well.I recieved mail form kcc that requires me to send docs to them for further processing.Yes i have read the mail,i need abit of clarification. My question,do they need the original docs or i can send the copies that i have this is due to the fact that my originals are home and i am away at the moment.kindly advice.case no. 2019AF17***
November 8, 2018 at 18:16
They are asking for scans of the documents – so whether you scan a copy or the original – doesn’t matter!
November 8, 2018 at 09:25
Mr.Brit , I think i will Have to change my interview location, i read FAQ
*If you are not yet current, the process to change your interview location is a 2 step process.
1.You unlock the DS260 to change your current address to the new address (new country) and resubmit the form.
2.Email KCC and ask them to change the interview location.
so 1st
if I’m not mistaken , i filled DS260 with my own choice of interview location, it didnt choose automatically based on my current address, because I’m indonesian who living in China, i chose China but i would like to change to get an interview in Indonesia, cause i think its safer and i can gather documents perfectly.
2nd What should i write to KCC to change my interview location?
* Dear KCC,
i would like to change my interview location from Guangzhou ( China ) to Jakarta ( Indonesia ) i resubmit my form DS260 with correct location.
this would work? lol
November 8, 2018 at 18:18
It is based on your address, so your address should be in Indonesia in order to interview there.
November 8, 2018 at 12:38
Hi Brit, i wont to know if there was a second draw for dv 2019
November 8, 2018 at 18:19
No
November 8, 2018 at 14:00
Hi Brit,
I am winner DV2019. I got a letter requesting to e mail several documents to KCC. When I was applying for the DS260 I didn’t enter my children’s passport details as they did not hold passports(accordig to our law, citezens usually hold passport at the age of 16, my chldren are 2 years and 7 month old). We applied for a passport and got recently.
my question: should we unlock the ds260 to change kids information according to the passport details or is it ok if we show the kids’ passport at the time of visa interview.
in case of unblocking and changing the ds260, does it cause to delay the ds260 processing?
thanks in advance
November 8, 2018 at 18:21
Unlocking doesn’t usually cause delay (discussed in the FAQ!), but for kids passports you can simply take them to the interview.
November 8, 2018 at 18:34
I have written a wrong address which I usually use for posting and receiving letters in my country, but is a different one from the formal address. Is this a reason to disqaulify me? I submitted DS260 with the same address. I live in this home for 3 years rent free, but I dont have a contract to show it. Will it cause me problems?
November 8, 2018 at 20:23
No problem.
November 8, 2018 at 21:55
Please when is DV 2020 lottery registration ending ??
November 8, 2018 at 23:09
It ended.
November 9, 2018 at 00:20
Hello brit.
I have a problem with an answer I gave in the DS260 that may be false.
Have you ever been arrested or convicted for any offense or crime, even though subject of a pardon, amnesty, or other similar action? I answered ‘no’. At the time I completely forgot about a situation that happened to me.
I was in a car accident and I was responsible for it since my car has run out of control, I wasn’t arrested or anything but the procedure in my country is a case like this is handled by the justice department since there were injuries (minor injuries). The trial has begun long after the accident, at the time I was studying abroad so I didn’t show up to the trial and I have been sentenced to two months of prison (this was for not showing up), when I heard of that I hired a lawyer and made an appeal and then I had nothing, I only paid a sum of money. I don’t have the justice record so I don’t really know if this means that I am convicted for involuntary injury.
What I should’ve answered? If I didn’t already get an interview for December I would have changed it.
I don’t know if I am making a big deal out of it since this doesn’t appear on my police clearance, but I really like to know what should I do now?
thank you for reading and answering me.
November 9, 2018 at 14:26
The incident itself wouldn’t be disqualifying, but the lack of truthful DS260 could be. If asked about it, answer truthfully. *If asked*
November 9, 2018 at 14:35
Thank you very much.
November 10, 2018 at 17:56
Hi Brit,
I got the justice record,so I am going to give it to the CO and ask for changing the answer in my DS260. Do you think it’s a good Idea ? or maybe I should email the embassy to ask to change it ?
November 10, 2018 at 18:53
You can email KCC/the embassy iof you want. You cannot change the DS260 at this point, until the interview, so if you do want to change that, do it now by email or at the embassy.
November 9, 2018 at 14:34
What do you think Brit ?
November 9, 2018 at 01:49

Hi, When submitting my DS-260 form in Aug; My brother who’s in USA helped me by checking the information i entered in the form(i had 17years old) ; the only thing he changed was my phone number, he wrote it correctly by adding the (+213) for Algeria, so when i submitted the form(me) a page appeared where they asked me if someone helped me; obviously i said yes and entered my brother’s infos; 1- would that be a visa refusal cause ? 2nd – my caseNum is 19AF43XXX and i didn’t received the email- you told us that is concerning all cases(ranges), should i get worried about, and send them anyway ?

I saw the list of diseases inadmissible to US, If I tested positive to one of them, will I lose my Dv lottory chance for good or Will I have a chance to miss the interview and rescheduled after treatment?
Thank you in advance for your response.

If the disease is treatable you can be rescheduled, or interview and be on AP until you get a clear medical.

Hello Simon,
How are you? I hope you are all doing fine.
I am 2019 SA 6XX from Buenos Aires Arg
I want to ask about Police Certificate from USA
I have 1 criminal record in USA.
In the instructions says that you don’t have to present it (PC) if you where a former resident or resident from the USA with 1 record .
I was a tourist when it happened
I am not a resident.
1-Besides the final disposition and information regarding the case from 1993 do I need to present a police certificate from USA ?
Thank you so much BRIT !
Saludos,
MA

hi simon
1. In the ds260 form I wrote “Self Employee” in the main occupation box, is this answer correct?
Note that I do not have a major profession.
2. I am the main winner and my wife is added to the form. Do I have to fill the form for my wife and click submit?
Note that she does not want visa and I will travel alone.
3 – My mother’s name in my birth certificate “Alia Ahmed Ali” and in her passport”Alia Ahmed Ali Qasim,” how to write her name in the form ds260?

1. Use your own judgement.
2. You include her details on your DS260, but only create a DS260 for her if she wants the GC.
2. Her full legal name.

Hi Brit,
Can I get an affidavit of support from a different person if the person whose address on my Ds 260 is unwilling to send them to me. My case number is current and I will be interviewing in Accra embassy next month.
Am sorry if this question has been asked and answered.
Thanks

hi BRIT sorry if my question has been asked ’cause i searched through the comments in vain before posting mine i live in senegal (offic lang: french) .
my question is: given that i will be interviewed in senegal should the documents to be sent to KCC only be translated in english not the ones to be taken to the embassy or both should be translated?
thx SIR …
November 10, 2018 at 18:51

Dear Simon
Regarding the new procedures of kcc, i know that it is not good idea to prepare the police certification till getting the email.
What about the birth day certificate? There will be any problems if I prepared that one? As in my country it is long process till you have it. So I’m thinking to prepare that one in advance.
November 10, 2018 at 18:51
Use your judgement for procedures in your country.
November 10, 2018 at 19:32
Thanks i will do my judgement. But for birth certificate, is there any limitations for the period of obtaining it, or expires date?
November 10, 2018 at 19:44
Again – your country.
November 10, 2018 at 20:28
Sorry for unconvinced, but it seems you didn’t got my point, let explain in another way:
In our country birth certificate for a specific case works even Its date of issue is one year.
But for KCC, is an old Issued (not more than 6 month old) certificate acceptable?
November 10, 2018 at 20:31
Again. It is not about KCC. It is about procedures in *your country*. Think about what I am saying.
