Hello Brit,
Please can I use my USCIS Elis account to change our address ( family of 3) used on the DS 260 to a new one or I have to do that at the POE ?
We’re still in our home country.
Thanks for your guidance all these months
November 27, 2018 at 17:48
At the POE

Hello
I want ask you about administration process is it possible to that person who are muslim or wear hejab in ap go more time because of this reason
November 27, 2018 at 17:51
There are more security concerns with people from certain (Muslim majority) countries. Some of those countries also have poor record keeping or simply won’t co-operate with the USA. So – that adds time to AP.

Good day Simon,
I’ve some query regarding required police records for interview.
I’m a regular traveler for short business assignments outside my country, normally for 2 weeks up to 3 months duration.
For any single trip, I didn’t spend more than 4 months in any country while I spent more than 6 months in one or two countries as a total duration of combined few trips.
1- Do they require police clearance certificates for such countries?
2- Do they require any further documentation related to my travel history or so?
3- Could those travels trigger some concerns?
4- I will get my previous passports with me plus some HR letters, any other ideas?
November 27, 2018 at 17:53
1. Probably not, but you could obtain the police certs as a proactive precaution.
2. I can’t predict all they might ask for.
3. Possibly – depending on the countries concerned.
4. No – you can use your own judgement.

Good afternoon,
Hi, I am a DV-2019 winner and my case number is 2019AF0009xxx my interview is next week.
My question is when my sponsor filled the affidavit of support, on question number 38a is it ok if she checked the i do not Intend? She’s my sister in law and me and my husband are staying in her house until we get a job.
November 27, 2018 at 17:54
“Do not intend” makes the form useless.
November 27, 2018 at 12:07
Hi Brit,
Kindly help me sort out the following:
Iam Dv 2019 winner Case no AF 197***.
I have been married traditionally for 12years.The only document I have is a letter from my local chief to a certain govt institution as prove of marriage.
Meantime my spouse have declined processing marriage cert from the attorneys and her passport from the immigration simply because she is not interested in leaving our current land.
We have three kids who are also derivatives of this case number.
Her being the primary caregiver of our three kids,it means they would only join later at some age or after some legal consent to have them join me in the USA.
I wish to know whether her stand would affect my visa issuance and do i need to process their passports and marriage certificate for now or is there a way out .I have stopped filling Ds 260 because of a clause which States that I would only get a visa once their documents are presented.
For the kids I have their birth certificates while for the spouse I have her national ID and a birth certificate as well could this be enough at least for now.
Kindly advice.
November 27, 2018 at 17:58
You will not be able to take the children for some years of course, so you do not need DS260 and documents for them. Just complete and submit the DS260 for yourself.
November 27, 2018 at 12:25

The reciprocity page for Saudi Arabia says police certs are not available for third party nationals not residing in SA. So – why are you waiting for that????

November 28, 2018 at 04:48
LOL Yes, UAE, but the same story though. “Available: Only if applicant is physically present in the UAE.”
November 27, 2018 at 13:35
I have received a questionnaire DS 5535 under 221(g) and no documents were asked. Interview attended on 14th Nov, How long will the process takes.
November 27, 2018 at 18:15
I cannot predict that.
November 27, 2018 at 16:34
Hi brit i am here in usa and i applied my parents for visit visa and they are in nepal. Yesterday was their interview and got rejected. I am soo stressed cz i am pregnant and i wants my parents to visit here. They asked my father about his occupation he just say farmer. But actully he is retired goverment employee. And he saw other people were getting visa cz they were pension holder like my father. And he also said may be they need something strong that actually bind him with his country? So he wanted to fill ds160 form again and correct his job information on second interview. So can he do that or they gonna think him as fraud can u please please reply ur advice.
November 27, 2018 at 20:00
So he lied to them??? That was foolish. Anyway, I only answer DV lottery questions.
November 27, 2018 at 17:36
when I was small I was baptized, gave me a name but I didnt use it in documents. I should have stated it in the ds form. If yes, should i need to unlock the form and changed?
Thnx 🙂
November 27, 2018 at 21:15
No need to unlock.
November 27, 2018 at 17:57
Hi Simon. How would I delegate a relative to collect my GC since my first entry to the US would be for 2 weeks and most likely wouldn’t receive the GC by then ? Can I have them sign the PS 3801 Form for this ?
November 27, 2018 at 23:31
I don’t know, but you have obviously started figuring this out for yourself, so follow the USPS instructions.
November 27, 2018 at 21:00
Dear Bri.I sent my documents on the 6th and I did not receive an automatic reply to confirm then I wrote to KCC some days later to find out if they did receive my documents. They replied by saying that they recently made an update to their system to send automatic reply. I am confused I don’t know if I have to send back the documents.
Thank you in adavance for your response
November 27, 2018 at 23:29
You could ask them this question, but I suspect they will say that there is no problem. What I mean is, they probably got your documents but did NOT send the confirmation. That is not a problem.
November 27, 2018 at 21:48
Hi Simon and once more thanks for your great efforts regarding this website. I am a selectee for a country affected by Tavel ban. I got a question concerning the waiver process and particularly the job offer. Actually I am in contact with some company and trying to persuade them that they can offer me a job, which is totally different by work permit sponsorship. They believe that such an offer will be so complicated with lots of bureaucracy and paper work including considerable commitments. As I see and have understood the offer that we may use to obtain the waiver process for our DV application is simpler, yet I could not find any clear information or whatsoever to justify them accordingly.
Have you got any idea, link or explanation that may satisfy them?!
Thanks.
November 27, 2018 at 22:28
Having a job offer will probably not get you a waiver.
November 28, 2018 at 20:29
You might be right, nevertheless I am trying to grab anything to increase my chance. These always turn around probabilities and I have to consider them. You may be aware that for few selectees of DV 2018, job offer worked and they got VISA. Anyway, do you think I can title myself as a potential resident in USA?
November 28, 2018 at 20:45
You can title yourself as an astronaut if you want….
November 27, 2018 at 21:52
Dear Simon, I received mail from KCC for supported documents and when i issued my child birth certificate ,i found it issued his mother name with first and middle name only without last name as i mentioned in ds260
Thank you in adavance for your response
November 27, 2018 at 22:27
So – what is the question?
November 27, 2018 at 22:37
my question is this will effect on my chance to issue visa as my wife is the applicant
November 28, 2018 at 00:27
I don’t think so.
November 27, 2018 at 22:01
good evening mr brit
my case number is 2019AF10xxx
1- I would like to know why kcc has not yet sent an appointment for January, knowing that I am among the 800 first of 3300 cases of the visa bulletin of January 2019. And that I sent the requested documents and I received the automatic answer from kcc on November 9
2- Is there anyone who has received the appointment for January?
3- is that at the time of the appointment I will ask questions about the history of my work knowing that I have my baccalaureate my wife and my daughter too
thank you so much.
November 27, 2018 at 22:26
1. You just need to remain patient.
2. No
3. Possibly
November 30, 2018 at 06:23
From which country are you it seems like africa has not received the letter ? We are really confused with the new procedure
November 30, 2018 at 15:04
I wish everyone would stop this nonsense that no one in AF has got their 2NL.
November 28, 2018 at 00:14
Simon, can’t get AoS appointment scheduled at USCIS in San Francisco. Extremely confusing process… Any advice/tips/sites you could recommend.
November 28, 2018 at 01:16
You don’t schedule the appointment. They do once your case is ready. All you can do is schedule infopass appointments to try and move things along. AOS questions should be handled on the immigration forum thread.
November 28, 2018 at 01:46
Dear sir,
Is there any case gone to Ap almost for year?
Thnx
November 28, 2018 at 04:49
Yes
November 28, 2018 at 06:40
Dear Simon,
I got the interview appointment for January. I hold a Master’s degree and in the educational institutions section of DS-260 form, I provided information on the two universities I studied at for BA and MA degrees. At that time I thought there was no need to mention the high school where I got my diploma. Is there a need and are there any risks in asking KCC to unlock the form for this issue knowing that I have once unlocked the form for another reason. Indeed, I have all the three certificates and can take them to the interview.
Thank you for your time and attention.
November 28, 2018 at 15:17
Now you have been scheduled you cannot unlock. So – take the certs to the interview.
November 28, 2018 at 09:36
Greetings, My appointment is 5 day away and the first time i did the exam two weeks ago the doctor told me that he need to make another x-ray to make sure. I received the second result today. He said the result came out the same and we need to make a complete examination for TB and it’ll take 6 more weeks! I don’t really know what to do now. He also said it’ll probably came out negative but they need a proof. Should i go to the interview without the medical exam result or should I contact KCC?
November 28, 2018 at 15:20
It’s your choice. Attend the interview and be on AP until the results come through or contact the embassy and delay the interview. The former option is most likely faster.
November 29, 2018 at 16:47
It will depend on the Embassy. Some Embassies wont allow you to attend the interview without medical report, and re-scheduling will be the only option of which some actually re-schedule you after they get your medical report. Its not always easy to re-schedule yourself after you miss the initial interview date.
November 29, 2018 at 17:25
Please leave the answering to me (especially when I have already answered).
November 28, 2018 at 09:54
Hi Brit, I am EU17XXX DV-2019 winner, but I would like to do an internship in the states starting in January. Am I able to apply for a J-1 visa? and then come back to France for the interview? or do adjustment of status?
thanks!!!
November 28, 2018 at 15:22
This is the THIRD time you have asked this. Don’t waste my time!

November 28, 2018 at 11:38
Hello Brite
To submit the documents via Email to KCC does should be attested until Ministry of foreign or its not needed in this step and will be upon interview????
BR
November 28, 2018 at 15:23
KCC won’t care.
November 28, 2018 at 14:52
Hi Simon, just wanted to tell you that yesterday we recived the appointment confirmation for January. The subject was ‘Required Entry Status Check for DV Submission’ instead of 2NL.
Regards and thanks for everything
November 28, 2018 at 15:25
LOL – yes – we call it the 2NL – they don’t.
November 28, 2018 at 15:26
Hi Flor please are you from Africa?
November 28, 2018 at 15:31
South America.
November 28, 2018 at 18:21
please; whats your number?
November 28, 2018 at 18:58
Please – there is no reason to ask this. If someone is scheduled, it is because their number is current. As simple as that. Once cases are current, the order within that group is no longer important.
November 29, 2018 at 16:11
Hello Flor! Congrats!
I just wanted to ask you something regarding the official documents. Do they have to be “apostillados” All of them? I am asking about birth certificate, Police certificate, and secondary school and universities degrees. I can´t find clear instructions in Argentina´s web embassy.
Thank you so much FLOR!!!
Yours,
Marianela
November 29, 2018 at 17:12
Hi Marianela, you may want to get your university degree apostillado when looking for a job in the US, some companies/universities require it. Other than that, for the DV process, this validation is not specified anywhere.
Regards.
November 29, 2018 at 17:27
“this validation is not specified anywhere.”
That is not correct! People should follow instructions specific to their embassy.
December 5, 2018 at 01:48
Thanks Brit !
November 30, 2018 at 00:19
Hi Marianella,
In my experience, they didn’t need any document ‘apostillado’. Only the university degree title traduced to English and oficially legaliced.
Regards!
December 5, 2018 at 01:45
Hi again sorry I just realize you had already answerd me before thank you so much !
Marianela
December 5, 2018 at 01:39
Hi Flor , how are you ? Congrats en the 2NL! I would like to ask you if in Buenos Aires Embassy the official documents are required to be “apostillados” for the interview? Birth certificate, Police certificate, etc . I can’t find the information online. Thank you so much Flor . Marianela
November 28, 2018 at 16:53
Hi Bri,
Thank you very much for your support now I have settled in US. Today I have got a job with international organization in USA but the activities are conducted in developing countries. With my permanent resident card , am I authorized to work outside of US even if I will be paying Taxes?
Please help me if you have more information
Best
November 28, 2018 at 17:04
You can work wherever you like.
November 28, 2018 at 17:17
But, what what happens if is it outside USA? Obviously you are not going to live in US for a long period and that means you are not going to be a US „resident“. Am i wrong? Thanks for your time!
November 28, 2018 at 18:03
Dear Patti,
I was asking this question to know if you are a green card holder and working outside of USA it has an negative effect to your status.
November 28, 2018 at 18:05
It is important to remain a US resident. Read the FAQ about the rules about that. However, if you work in some other country you still report that income on your US tax return.
November 28, 2018 at 19:41
Hello Brit Good afternoon. I am a Dv winner of last year and i have been in the US for about 9months today. I am planning to go get married and come fight for my wife please tell me is that possible to get married her and bring her here?
November 28, 2018 at 19:56
It is possible, yes. I don’t advise on that process.
November 28, 2018 at 21:54
Hello Simon.
My question is somewhat different and maybe someone from your audience knows the answer:
We will be arriving shortly in the US by plane on our DV visas for the first time since their issue. My question is which queue do we take? The queue for green card holders or the queue for all Visa holders?
Best regards, Tom
November 28, 2018 at 22:06
Foreigners/Visitors. Once you have been processed (and become an LPR) any subsequent trips you can use the legal US residents line.
November 29, 2018 at 06:06
Hello, Brit I have been selected for dv 2019 and my question is that Do I have to inform my sponser to fill the affidavit of support form( I 134) ? or they will be asked to do so through telephone by US Citzenship and Immigration Services?
Thank you.

November 29, 2018 at 06:24
Dear Simon,
I am a winner of 2019 DV lottery.
I did my bachelor’s in TRNC (Turkish Republic of North Cyprus) and already submitted all suporting documents except one, because accidentelly I was misled and I sent PPC from Turkey, not from TRNC. Now I must fly there to get my PPC.
So, my question is:
Do you think will I have any problems if I send the document from Cyprus additionally, and what is the likelihood that this may cause my visa to be denied?
Also 9 days have passed since I sent all suported documents, do you have any idea how long it takes to get back letter from them? Or KCC not answering because I send wrong document and my process is stopped?
TY in advise for ur help.
Regards,
November 29, 2018 at 14:22
I don’t know whether the document will cause problems.
As for when you will hear – I don’t know.
November 29, 2018 at 06:47
Thank you for your help, Simon! Have a great day.
November 29, 2018 at 07:44
Dear Brit,
One of my neighbours has recently won dv lottery 2019(he is 20 years old), and he wonders to get married to his girlfriend who will get her diploma in May 2019.
He worries about being disqualified for getting married to a girl who does not have a succesfull completion of vocational school.
What should they do? Is it legal to get married in this case and to fill out the ds-260 form for their further procedure?
Yours sincerely,
Ibrokhim
November 29, 2018 at 14:23
Her education is unimportant. Only the principal has to prove education.
November 29, 2018 at 14:31
Hi BritSimon, my case number is current in the visa bulletin, I sent all the documents required by KCC but I still do not get the 2nl, I have to worry or wait without stressing.
Thank you
November 29, 2018 at 14:55
Worrying won’t help, so just wait.
November 29, 2018 at 16:05

Hi
I am making a GAS account to deliver my passport and everything …so at the end of the page it say ds 160 confirmation no#…so my question is …were we suppose to fill a ds 160 form ….I only filled a ds 260 form

November 30, 2018 at 02:45
Hello Brit Simon
Good day to you !!
I am the derivatives applicant of 2019
Edv from Nepal and my wife is principal. We filled up ds260 three month before
There is no mistake to my wife’s side but in my side , by mistake I did not mention that previously I was in Qatar for few year for employment.
1- Will that caused not to get second letter or problem in the time of visa interview
2-Is it ok even not mention on ds260 I will make ready Qatar police clearance certificate to the visa interview time as it is on the processing
3- should I unlock ds260 for the correction for this particular issue.
November 30, 2018 at 03:25
1. No impact to scheduling. Maybe a minor problem at the interview.
2/3. You should unlock and correct.
November 30, 2018 at 05:56
Hi. I’m one of the winner Case No. 2019AF00007**** was supposed to go for interview December 10 2018. I have never had any problem before with my chest. Please advice.
November 30, 2018 at 06:02

November 30, 2018 at 06:15
Greetinx brit, AS14XX , i got email from kcc to summit some certain document, my question is the PCC with me will expire May2019, 1. should i attach that to kcc or i should get a new PCC
thanks
November 30, 2018 at 15:01
A new one is better, unless it is for a country you have not revisited.
November 30, 2018 at 06:23
Hello Mr. Simion,
I have CN 2019EU10XXX and i did not yet recived email from KCC with the instruction of sending documents. Other applicants , with CN 12XXX recived it.
So, i belive that accinentally deleted that email( or maby our kids playing with the phone did it).
I sent them a email where i asked them nicely to resend the email with the instruction to send the documents(believing that I had deleted it), but they sent me only the last part of the email ,that in witch they tell us what documents we need ( only that)….and not the part where they write:
“Dear applicant …..,
The Kentucky Consular Center (KCC) has completed processing of your DS-260 Diversity Visa application form and the DS-260s of all accompanying family members.
In order to continue processing your case, you must submit electronic copies of the documents below in .jpeg or.pdf format to [email protected]. Use your case number as the subject of the email. The maximum email size is 30MB. If the total size of your attachments is larger than 30MB…”
What do you think I should do?
To call them or wait?
What happend if they sent me that email with the instructions and I did not respond in time?
Can i lose my chance?
Why other with CN bigger than mine recived the email and me not?
Thank you in advance. Have a nice day!
November 30, 2018 at 15:03
There is no need to stress out over this!
Just send the documents.
November 30, 2018 at 15:11
Thank you !
November 30, 2018 at 07:31

Hello Britt,
my case number is 2019 AF25 *****; I have not yet received the email from KCC asking to send documents by mail
1- must I always wait or I can send them an email to tell them that I have not received an email yet?
2- do I have to translate my police certificate?
Thank you
December 1, 2018 at 03:23
1. There is no need to be impatient. You have some months to wait.
2. Read the instructions.
November 30, 2018 at 19:41

December 1, 2018 at 03:29
No it is a really bad idea. It has a high likelyhood to mess up your case. Interview with him.
November 30, 2018 at 20:06
I don’t have any question, I just wanted to post a reply I got from KCC once KCC has processed our documents.
Case Number: 2019AS00003XXX

Hi Sid,
I am dv 2019, AS5xxx. I have received an email from KCC to submit documents as well. Can I know if you submitted just the required documents for all applicants or did you also submit other documents including education certificate, bank statements, etc?
November 30, 2018 at 20:45
Hi BritSimon,
Trust all is well with you and you.
Many thanks for your great noble work to help, inform and educate DV applicants and winners.
I kindly request your honest advice and guidance on this.
I am 2019 DV selectee, completed and submitted DS 260 on July 2018, went on interview on November 7th 2018, given yellow letter and instructed to send passport, affidavit support and Tax return of sponsor, and confidential confirmation of High school Certificate from Examination board office.
I send the requested additional documents plus the passport by DHL and already delivered to the U.S consulate 5 days ago.
I checked by DV visa status online but still showing SEND DOCUMENTS and haven’t heard from the Embassy!!
Is it possible my application is on Administrative processing? if not, how long do you think i should wait to get information on my DV Visa application from the embassy?
Thanks in advance for any advice and information.
Regards
Mohamed

Yes you are in AP. The time for AP varies. You just have to wait.

Dear Brit,
I unlocked my DS260 and made some changes. But then I saw that when I completed my DS260 in may, i checked for “adjustment of status, send my case to USCIS” but in the end I decided to do it from my native place!!! would this be a problem :’/

Yes, you have to contact KCC and make sure they know to process your case as Consular Processing, not AOS.

Hi Brit. In the FAQ you mention that the SSN is sent to the address in the DS260 – is there a way to update this before arrival other than unlocking? I’m expecting to be current in the next bulletin but don’t have a safe address I can use at this point (the only people I know will be moving flats before I arrive).

You can change at the interview and finally at the POE.

Hi dear;
I am Egyptian but i born in Kuwait and still living in kuwait
My spouse and children living in Egypt so I have selected the interview location in Ds260 at Cairo for all of us
1-Do you think my interview will be scheduled in Cairo or Kuwait ?
2-If it came in kuwait can I make my interview in Kuwait and they make it in Cairo ?
3-Is there any risk for them if they attended the interview separately?
December 1, 2018 at 03:35
1. Kuwait (based on your current address)
2. Bad idea.
3. Yes. Get them to attend the interview with you.

Thanks a lot for you reply. My case no. Is current but i didn’t receive 2NL yet.
What can I do to get my interview in Cairo?
I am living between kuwait and Egypt but I spend the most time in kuwait.

KCC will schedule the interview based on the current “home” address of the principal. Contact them and either change the address to Cairo, or ask them if you can arrange the interview there to be interviewed with the family.

Good day Simon, I sent KCC an email requesting to unlock my DS260 as I wanted to make some changes and their reply was:
We are unable to assist you with your request regarding case number 2019××××××. The Kentucky Consular Center can see that your DS-260 has been submitted and you will have an opportunity to view and make any necessary changes to your DS-260 after your initial Diversity Visa interview at a United States Embassy or Consulate.
My question is, 1.reopening the DS260 is not possible?
2.If so and I had to make changes to my passport(which will be different from the one in the DS260), will it create any issues because of the difference during the interview?

1. That is what they are saying.
2. No

Hi Brit,
how are u. I had my interview on the 28th novermber at dakar and I ask to come collect my visa on the 4th december but i just saw a message on my email from donotreply which was 25th novermber stating that
Dear U.S. Immigrant Visa Applicant,
The Immigrant Visa Unit at the Consular Section in Dakar encourages all immigrant visa applicants to register their appointment before attending the scheduled visa interview.
You are receiving this email message because our records show that you have not completed the registration process. To complete registration, please click on the following link ……………………
Do not create multiple accounts using the same case number when registering your appointment. Visa dependents should be added to the principal applicant account.
If you do not complete this process prior to your interview, it may cause delays in the processing of your application.
Sincerely,
CSRA Visa Information Services
will this affect my pickup date given by the consular or will it delay me ?
Thanks for your endless support.

But my registration process being incomplete was not mentioned by the consular.

Hi Brit AF23K seems the supporting documents submission has caused delay of release of January 2nls. Is it in order if I send my documents now or I wait for KCC to send the email to me first. Be blessed
December 1, 2018 at 16:39
That is up to you, but since your number won’t be current for a while I would say it is too early.

Hi Brit, my husband is the principal applicant, 2 questions:
1. My husband informed, the doctor who did the medical exam, that he has type 2 diabetes the doctor then said he will have to send my husband’s results directly to the embassy and gave us the results for me and the kids, should we be worried? will we need to have a I-134 ready just in case?
2. I leaved in Tunisia for almost 2 years, I have made a request for police record via the Tunisian Embassy in my country of residence. It’s now over a month and they keep on telling me “it’s in process” our interview is on Dec. 5…. will this affect our interview negatively.
December 1, 2018 at 20:29
1. The I-134 has nothing to do with the medical, but yes you should decide how you will meet the public charge requirements.
2. It will cause delay.
