From your last info I think I will be scheduled for interview bicos my number is mor then 257**.
January 12, 2019 at 15:49
Hello Simon !
I am dv winner of 2019 and my Case is being scheduled this month in VB. I got married after DV result and I did not include in DS260. When KCC send email to me for sending Police Report,Birth Certificate and Passport, I send document of me only.My mentality is applying for single. Can I include my wife for applying ? After including or excluding my wife, is there any risk for visa ?
January 12, 2019 at 21:23
There was no risk, but you are leaving it very late and you are making it risky by “pretending” to be single. Unlock your forms, Change your form and add your spouse (adding a DS260 for her).
January 12, 2019 at 17:34
Hi brit,i just wanna know i got married after the interview was scheduled.then we rescheduled our appointment after our marriage.now they added another ds260 section as “spouse” and status was as “incomplete” in CEAC site.what i want to know is do we have to fill it or embassy will do the rest?what happen if i didnt complete my spouse ds260 ?
January 12, 2019 at 21:27
Why make it difficult. Just complete the DS260.
January 13, 2019 at 06:49
Thanx i will do it.but what happen if we dont complete it??asking just for my information.Thanx
January 13, 2019 at 16:26
Your spouse wouldn’t get a visa/GC

Hello simon .. my sponser in US is doing multi sponsership like sponsering other 2 ,3 guys and i am not sure weather the average income of a person in US allows multiple sponsorship or not. Should i cmchange the sponser or its ok
January 13, 2019 at 03:49
Change. Why have that additional risk.
January 13, 2019 at 02:00
The crimes that CAN cause disqualification are called “crimes of moral turpitude”.
Does that mean that there are chances that they can approve my visa in my dv lottery interview if I have committed a moral turpitude crime ? (Misuse of competencies)
January 13, 2019 at 03:50
It depends on the details of the crime. It will be up to the CO.

Hello Brit. I am a principal applicant. And I indicated that I want to take 2 derivatives with me in usa. But now I want 1 derivative to travel later to usa, not with me. My number is current. How can I indicate which derivative will travel later to usa? And how can I schedule separate interview for her? And also want to know. Should we all 3 take medical examinations niw? Because interview for all of us is scheduled on the same day
January 13, 2019 at 16:22
If you delay the derivative to not travel with you, you might find that you need to go through a 2 year process to bring that derivative later. It is more complicated and expensive to do that. So – I recommend you all attend the interview together and travel together.
January 14, 2019 at 12:18
Yes I know it is better to do so as you advised. But still I need to reschedule interview for 1 derivative. Can I do that during the interview process? Shoul that derivative still go to the interview with us?
January 14, 2019 at 15:36
You would have to ask the embassy. Chances are you will cause a problem, and then have to sponsor that derivative later.

Hello simon i am in korea right now in a working visa its been 2 years but i am actually from nepal i sended korea police report to kcc in a mail but not Nepal did i make a mistake should i have to send nepal police report too ?

January 13, 2019 at 22:47
While sending the missing document do i have to give any explanation? Should i send all the documents once again or only the remaing one what will be best option ?
January 14, 2019 at 00:18
Resend everything
January 13, 2019 at 15:23
Hi dear Brit ,
it is possible that the sponsor sends directly the I-134 and the supporting documents(1040,W2) to the ambassy ?
if so,how is the procedure ?
Thank you
January 13, 2019 at 16:33
No
January 13, 2019 at 16:55
Hi,
My sponsor sends directly to the embassy in Riyadh -KSA, he sent a soft copy by email and hard copy by courier. Then he send me a copy of the email( without the attachement) I print it out to my interview for their reference and they approve my visa.
So I believe they can do the same..
Regards
January 13, 2019 at 17:07
Sending it to the embassy is not the right way to do it, and will cause problems in some cases. You were lucky, no one should copy your process.
January 13, 2019 at 17:06
can I change my sponsor in the interview day ? as you said it is possible that he sends I-134 to the ambassy directly (He does not want me to know his salary)
January 13, 2019 at 16:30

January 13, 2019 at 18:46

January 14, 2019 at 00:44
Hi brit.! Thanks for your help dude.
I have a question.
Can I use another email to provide them my documents?
January 14, 2019 at 04:22
Yes
January 14, 2019 at 03:20
Hi Mate,
I am from AS region where my number went current for February. Also i got an email from KCC stating that all the requeired documents are received and i completed my DS260. However i havent got 2NL yet. This is bit frustrating as i am not too sure, what is causing this.
Any clues on this?
January 14, 2019 at 04:19
There was a new document procedure put in place that caused backlogs. So – it had a knock on effect. Be patient.
January 14, 2019 at 04:25
Sure, Thanks for the quick reply.
January 14, 2019 at 10:19
Hi,
Please call KCC ask them if they have received your documents
My friend has the same situation , he sent the required documents and he got the auto replay email but he didn’t received the confirmation email if he have submitted the required documents or not, according to that he didn’t get the 2nl for February interview
He called KCC and they informed him his documents not received, he told them he got the auto replay email!
they asked him to re-send the email and he did. After two days they have confirmed that the all documents are correct, he is waiting the 2nl now.
I know 4 persons have same scenario
January 14, 2019 at 07:50

January 14, 2019 at 15:01
DS260,
If you buy a lottery ticket, do you start asking an accountant about paying the taxes? Stop overthinking a LOTTERY unless you win.
January 14, 2019 at 09:55

January 14, 2019 at 15:40
Be patient!
January 14, 2019 at 16:11
Britt, is that possible people get scheduled without New document procedure?
or New document is certain and everyone will get it before they arrange the time
January 14, 2019 at 16:50
The clue is in the phrase “New document procedure”. It’s *NEW*, so I don’t know what will happen…
January 14, 2019 at 16:32
Dear BritSimon
I want to ask you a question whether you have any information about that.
in 2010 i had a police report (9 years ago it was an missunderstanding and fight and i was under age of 18 at the time)
The case is closed as it did not happen anything that can cause anyone’s health and safety but can the embassy make me any further question about that and ask any additional document for that.
Is there any chance that i might be refused for that ?
Thank you.
January 14, 2019 at 16:48
I doubt that will be a problem, but it is up to the CO.
January 14, 2019 at 16:54
As per my infos cases that happend under age of 18 or happend more than 5 year ago, they will be excluded from any further question.
Do you know anything about that ?
January 14, 2019 at 19:05
No. Get your police cert and see if it is listed.
January 14, 2019 at 19:58
Well i got my police cert and this case its not listed anywhere on my cert, it says that i’m clear and i can use that cert for any possible visa issuance.
So i think i’m clear about that but im afraid CO can ask me anything related to that report and i dont know what to answer.
January 14, 2019 at 16:35
Hi Brit,
I had my interview in December and my visa was approved, they told me at the embassy (Algiers), someone in the US should pay for my immigrant fee prior to my travel to the US and they insisted I couldn’t do it myself even though I have a VISA CARD, when entering to MYUSCIS I didn’t read such thing . what do you think ?
January 14, 2019 at 16:37
My question is, can I pay the immigrant fee myself, while being outside of the US ? thank you very much
January 14, 2019 at 16:47
Others have paid using a credit card. Try.

January 14, 2019 at 19:08
Wait. You will probably get your 2NL by the end of this month for a March interview.
January 14, 2019 at 18:03
Hi simón I had interview two months ago and was approved but I didn’t received any call or message from embassy to pick up my passport so please Simon tell me what to do I try to contact the embassy they never answered on phone and emails and when I checked my visa status is ready and last update was 14 November means 9 days after interview so please Simon what can I do in this case
January 14, 2019 at 19:09
I have no special trick to get the embassy to respond. You should try to contact them again, or just wait.
January 15, 2019 at 13:50
Maybe you’re using the wrong number or email ,US Embassy cal center always pick up and email center always replies to emails. It might take 2-5 working days but they’ll eventually send you a reply either saying it’s still under processing and ask you to wait or something ,they never go quiet. The point is either you don’t have the right phone number and Email or when you send an email to inquire about your case ,you don’t include your Name, date of birth, passport number and case number.
My thoughts.
January 15, 2019 at 14:36
I am pretty sure Saad is not using the wrong contact details. For some reasons some US consulates do not respond to phone calls or emails sent in by visa applicants awaiting their visas. I am sure by saying that they always respond, you are referring to ustraveldocs.com, that is an agency that processes visa applications online. They will always respond but with the same message that suggest that “THEY DO NOT KNOW WHEN YOU WILL HAVE YOUR VISA”. The reason is that, that agency does not sit with the consulate and cannot giev you any relevant information regarding your visa application beyond the interview, unless the visas have been issued and dispatched. The consulates themselves do not answer to any form of communication beyond the interview, so Saad is right.
So sad like me, there is nothing you can do than to wait. My case has been on READY since Dec 14, 2018. I was approved too with my family.
January 15, 2019 at 16:21
@ny, you’ll surely receive your visa and packet soon do not give up hope bro. Anyways have you registered with dhl? Cox the same day you attended your interview a close friend of mine also had his and was approved. He will be leaving this Thursday so please check if you have done the registration with dhl very well…good luck
January 15, 2019 at 17:15
@ God is Great, I did the registration. I have been to DHL and they told me its not ready and that they have my details registered in their system. My status at CEAC still shows READY.
January 16, 2019 at 01:33
Hi ny
I’ll like to indicate that I wasn’t saying that is the case, I was simply saying he “might” have gotten the wrong number or email,I didn’t talk about ustraveldoc website I know the difference and I have been through the whole process already.
I understand you’re going through the same issue and I know how it feels but try to read and understand before replying
He said they was no response
“I tried to call the embassy they never answered on phone or emails”
Which as I highlighted was practically impossible because they’ll always answer the call you’ll have to wait and press different digits to get across the immigrant visa section.
Talking about emails you’ll have to send an email through the online inquiry form and I said they’ll normally respond within 2-5 Working days either saying your case is still under processing bla bla or say something else, they’ll never ignore an email inquiry of which you confirm in your own words “they’ll always respond but with the message that ” . Though talking about something completely different which is the ustraveldoc website who as you’ve rightly said have no link with the visa unit.
In most cases the Embassy ask for you to fill up the online inquiry form under immigration visa unit, but ustraveldoc website gives you an email for customer support that’s the difference.
All in all try to get the right form of contact with the visa unit and no matter the generic answers it’s important you keep sending an inquiry from time to time be proactive .
Thank you.
January 16, 2019 at 13:49
Try to read and understand? I read, and understood you. You alluded to the fact that the gentleman was doing something wrong. You may have your consulate responding to you but that does not mean that every consulate responds and that is why in my article I used the phrase “some consulates”. Indeed some do not respond to emails and other forms of communication.
The “they will always respond” I alluded to was attributed to the ustraveldocs and NOT the consulate. Of course I have the right form of contact and I personally visit the consulate from time to time.
I do not know what your interpretation of “I understand you are going through the same situation” is but do not for a moment assume that you know anything because you don’t. My life does not in any way depend on this, but I respect and appreciate the opportunity, however I am absolutely solid and in a comfortable situation where I am without it. Thus, it’s not a do or die affair.
My only reservation is with the lack of feedback and
/or information which I find challenging, otherwise I am absolutely good. Do not for once think that people who come to this platform do not know anything, we are just here to seek expert opinion from someone who has gone through the mill studying and understanding the process to provide deeper insight into the process. Brit Simon deserves our toast and applause for all he does and I appreciate that.

Now
Advice Me Britsimon sir, in details how can i received my GC in California.? what what step should i need to do ? please please /?
January 14, 2019 at 19:56
Assuming you can’t get the GC from the person in Texas you would have to contact USCIS.
January 14, 2019 at 21:28
Hi Simon!
I wanted ask about a waiver.
I wanted to know if Waiver is a paper that embassy give it to the IRANIAN lottery winners, in order to write their reasons for their waivers, or is it something that we can just get it through a lawyer?
thanks for your time.
January 14, 2019 at 23:52
Hi Simon
I (including my wife and son) have been issued an immigrant visa, and we will be entering the country on the 16th of March to activate.
I read on your blogs that upon activation the Visa is “Endorsed” and we can leave the USA for a period up to one year (without having the physical green card)
I have just called the USCIS and they said you can not leave for up to 1 year until you have the physical green card.
Im confused, can we leave for up to 1 year with just the stamped visa?
Also can the USCIS payment for the green card only happen after you have entered the USA?
Thanks!
January 15, 2019 at 04:00
Yes you can. You spoke to an idiot.
No you can pay before or after the entry to the USA.
January 15, 2019 at 07:29
Hi brit thanks for your information. I am 2019 dv lottory winner i have submitted my ds-260 . Is there any documents that i have to submit to kcc before interview.
January 15, 2019 at 15:17
Yes
https://britsimonsays.com/new-document-submission-procedure-update/
January 15, 2019 at 16:24
Ok thanks. But sorry is it possible to send documents to kcc before kcc send email for docunents or i have to wait for email from kcc?
January 15, 2019 at 18:02
You can send them without be asked.
January 15, 2019 at 08:19
Hello Mr Simon,
Yesterday I contacted KCC asking to unlock my DS-260 to change the passport numbers for my and my husband’s passports as we both have updated them recently, as well as informing them that i can’t open my DS form to review it. But got a reply that really made me worry. “We are unable to assist you with your request regarding case number 2019EU00018***. The Kentucky Consular Center can see that your DS-260 has been submitted and you will have an opportunity to view and make any necessary changes to your DS-260 after your initial Diversity Visa interview at a United States Embassy or Consulate.” Are there other cases who were told their case numbers can’t be unlocked or I should assume there is a problem with my specific case?
January 15, 2019 at 10:13
Hi Lisa,
I had the same issue with my Ds-260, I had my interview in December, 2018. I requested for the changes to be effected at the consulate when I was prompted to submit my documents for inspection and it was corrected for me. I interviewed in Accra, Ghana. My visa was approved.
Up to date I have not been able to open my DS-260 page though. I do not think that you should be worried, you can make the changes at the consulate.
Cheers!
January 15, 2019 at 10:36
Hi ny,
Grateful if you could link up with me on [email protected]
January 15, 2019 at 12:16
Hi AYG, not very comfortable leaving my email address here as it bears my identity. Could you please ask your question here, it could benefit others and you may just get professional insight.
Thank you.
January 15, 2019 at 13:11
Hi ny,
thanks for sharing your experience, it calms me down a lot, but still there is a little worry since i asked for the interview in Egypt, not my home country as well as the fact that my husband is Egyptian and some of our documents originally issued in my country are reissued by the Egyptian authorities (such as marriage contract and my child’s birth cert). Hope all of this will not be problematic at the day of the interview or even before scheduling it.
January 15, 2019 at 14:28
Thanks for the response, I do not know about your specific consulate issues/challenges but I would believe that a situation like this would not be reasonably considered a risk to affect your case.
I suggest you keep all communication with KCC and print copies as proof of the effort you made in correcting your mistake with them. I am a 100% sure that the issue about making those corrections on your DS-260 would not be a problem. Any other issue, I would not be in the position to advise.
January 15, 2019 at 15:18
It’s not a problem. AS they mentioned, you can make those changes at the interview – and that is what they want you to do.
January 15, 2019 at 11:21
Hi Brit, I was granted a second citizenship through naturalization, I already unlocked my DS 260 to add the certificate of naturalization and then resubmitted it. Now I have to get my new passport for my new citizenship, however, my number is current so, when I get this second passport, can I just take it to the interview and let them know? Or should I email the embassy once I am scheduled?
January 15, 2019 at 15:22
You will just take it to the interview.
January 15, 2019 at 12:26

January 15, 2019 at 14:10
Did kcc asked you by mail to send the documents..or you just send it
January 15, 2019 at 15:25
You could email them to ask if your documents are in order, or just wait a couple of weeks to see if you get the 2NL this month.
January 15, 2019 at 14:40

January 16, 2019 at 20:35
If you want until your case is current it will cause delay – so don’t wait too long!
January 18, 2019 at 16:29
Emnet, my CN is 27*** but I received the email on Jan 17, 2019. So, you better send it. No need to wait until the end.

I want to ask something about the filling of DS260. When I filling my DS, I wrote all things in English even if adresses like xyz street or avenue something like that. Did I have to write these terms in my native language? Will it may occur a problem about processing ? Thanks for your reply

No problem.

HI Simon,
I received the email from KCC to submit my documents.
I submitted the following documents:
1) Copy of my passport
2) Copy of my birth certificate
3) Copy of a current federal police certificate
I have not been convicted of any crime and I have not served in the military which means I did not submit any documentation for these.
I received a generic response email from KCC stating that further documentation is required as some of the documents listed below were either missing or illegible.
I again submitted new copies of the documentation to the KCC but received the same response,
All documentation is high resolution and legible.
I have read required list of documentation and I feel I have submitted all the necessary information.
Do you have any advice on what extra documentation I need to supply for my case to progress?
Are you also aware of any process other that I can follow to find out more info on why the documents have been rejected?
I have also emaiedl KCC seeking further clarification and I am currently awaiting a response.

Hi Brit,
I just received a phone call from Representative of The US embassy in my country that said to me that I made a disqualification mistake and he suggest me to give up on my interview because probably i’m going to be disqualified.
My question is,
My mistake was that I set my Country/region of origin in DS-260 as my current country which I’m here since I’m 4y/o but my Birth country different one. For my defence I claim that my parents never had nationality at the country I born at, they been there as part of my father’s job. More to add, I’m married now to my current country local wife and we have a child, so I’m not sure why I need to state that my Origin is my Birth country and not the current.
Anyway, Do you think I can do something to change their minds? should I go anyway to the interview? At the interview there is any space to present my claim? or the consular cannot any logical decisions?
It’s a matter of urgent because our interview should occur at the beginning of February.
Thanks in advance!

I don’t think they call you telling to apply or not. In my opinion it’s probably a scammer.
January 16, 2019 at 14:30
@Justtoask
Nonsense.
January 16, 2019 at 14:21
What are the two countries concerned?
January 18, 2019 at 15:23
I’m born at Czech Republic, and live in Israel.
Thanks!
January 18, 2019 at 15:38
So then you probably have an AS number and you should have an EU number. If so, then yes, you will be disqualified. There is one possible exception.
The instructions asked for your country of birth. If that country of birth had been ineligible for the lottery, because your parents were there temporarily, then you could have used Israel, but as your country of birth is eligible, you probably cannot claim that exception.
The other exception is through marriage. If you were married to an Israeli at the time of the entry, you can claim her country of chargeability, but your original entry must be accurate (i.e. correct place of birth, but chargeability to Israel based on spouses’ place of birth). If you want to proceed under that exception (with some risk depending on your eDV entry AND whatever you said to the embassy), you should note that they “should” treat you AND your wife as principals, meaning BOTH would have to show you meet the education standard required.

January 19, 2019 at 10:51
OMG, so If I undertand it properly, as long as my wife fill the requirements we are able to use IL as a country of changeability?
What do you mean by depends on my eDV? I read the attached article,
I need to explain them what the 9 FAM means at the interview or they will know what i’m talking about?
HUGE TAHNKS!
January 19, 2019 at 15:24
You MIGHT be able to be approved. The risk is because you had to fill in your DV entry correctly. Country of birth would be yours, country of chargeability, your wife’s. That intention was supposed to have been declared – and depending on what you said to the embassy you might have weakened your case.
The embassy will know what the 9 FAM guide is (it is THEIR guide), but it would help to print the new update that clarifies elective cross charging.
January 20, 2019 at 07:53
Thanks Brit, (Cannot reply to the your latest comment)
If I’m get you right, per my check Asia is not favourable selection than Europe so it’s going to be hard to claim that I want to use 9 FAM based of favorable changeability, Am i right?
Thanks!
January 20, 2019 at 15:49
Stop overthinking.
January 20, 2019 at 15:27
Moreover,
Is it correct that in order to claim for cross chargeabillity like you’re offering,
Me and my wife should have 2 different DV entries?
Thanks!
January 20, 2019 at 15:41
That is not required.
January 16, 2019 at 19:38

Hi Sir,
what is the effect of following case on DV progress?
Operations During a Lapse in Appropriations
Emergency AlertDecember 22, 2018Operations During a Lapse in Appropriations
At this time, scheduled passport and visa services in the United States and at our U.S. Embassies and Consulates overseas will continue during the lapse in appropriations as the situation permits. We will not update this website until full operations resume, with the exception of urgent safety and security information. The National Visa Center, National Passport Information Center, and Kentucky Consular Center will still accept telephone calls and inquiries from the public. Please note we will be closed for scheduled federal holidays on December 24 and 25 and will reopen on December 26.
January 16, 2019 at 20:39
We will have to wait and see. Visa services are funded by fees, but some aspects of the service could be affected by the shutdown.

Hi Ammma,
In most cases in Egypt they never asking for a sponsor for a diversity visa.
Also, we have checked with the winners from previous years and they confirmed that
We have a group in Telegram including 300 winners and till the moment they didn’t asked any one. Around 30 persons I know till now passed without it.
