Hello, Today myself and family received our DV VISA and we will be travelling to the US next week.
My question is after arriving in the US how soon can I travel back to my home country? I have some personal commitments that that I would like to address before I move to the US Permanently
Regards,
Harry
April 10, 2019 at 20:18
You can leave as soon as you go through immigration at the airport.
April 13, 2019 at 07:12
Hi! How are you? I played dv lottery for 2019 , I played previous year too 2018, do you think they can check previous entry? Because 2018 i entered as a married because we were planning but not happened, for 2019 lottery I entered as a single which is true, do you think they will check previous entries? Thank you!
April 13, 2019 at 14:43
Yes probably. Lying is idiotic.
April 11, 2019 at 00:31
Good evening Simon, hope you’re doing well.
Here’s the thing. Im a DV2018 Visa holder.
Got my Visa in July 2018. paid for the fee on the USCIS site BEFORE entering the US in September 2018 and at that same time I updated the GC delivery address.
Entered the US to activate my status in October 2018 and came back to my country after 8 days (Argentina) to fix my stuff before heading back to the US.
Got a tracking number from USPS that showed the GC was delivered in December 8th BUT to the address that was originally provided in my DS 260… so I claimed that the GC was not received (over the phone and through email as well) they opened a case wich they closed stating that the card was successfully delivered to the address they had on file. …. they are supposed to get someone’s signature if they deliver it, right? in that address there no one I know currently as that friend moved.
I even sent the the screenshots to prove them that the address was updated and still got no answer neither from them nor the Embassy.
At this stage (already resigned to pay again), im still in Argentina and Im not sure on how to proceed to get a new card… do you recommend me to fill a I-90 form from here (planning to move in June- July), or should I travel back to the US without doing it and do everything in person once I’m there instead?
basically I don’t want to have any issues while entering the US as well as in getting a job.
Looking forward to your reply, and THANK YOU for the time you spend on this.
Sincerely,
Natalia
April 11, 2019 at 01:50
Updating while paying would not have worked – but you can continue to argue that you informed them. It might work.
No they don’t need a signature.
Fix it when you are in the US.

During updating new sponser and new address at the port of entry , what documents are required…
April 12, 2019 at 14:13
Just the documents from the embassy, nothing more.
April 11, 2019 at 08:07
Hi Brit how you doing ? I want to ask you a question about my 2NL My case is current in may My case number is 2019 AF 24*** KCC sent me document received with out sending ma document and as per your Advise i send ma document and i received again Document received email @ March 27 2019 So My question is i have a chance to receive a call for interview in the coming June ? Or what is your advise ? Thank you for Your time ??
April 11, 2019 at 16:12
My advice is to exercise some patience. Really.
April 11, 2019 at 17:23
Dear Brit,
I sent all require documents to KCC few days ago to response the request email from KCC. Usually how long we get a confirmation email from KCC to notify our documents is completed or valid ? ( I received only automatic reply)
April 11, 2019 at 17:27
I always see the same questions asked over and over again. Do many of you now read others their questions and the answers.
HAVE SOME PATIENCE.The KCC probably gets billions of mails. You can`t expect your stuff to be in order so soon.
April 11, 2019 at 18:57
Quite.
April 11, 2019 at 18:56
I don’t know – it could vary. Show some patience.
April 11, 2019 at 19:03
Thanks Brit for your promptly reply. I have another question. My case is 2019AS11xxx , and sent documents to KCC as their request. Is it time for me to ask my relative to process I 134 ?
Thanks again for your time
April 11, 2019 at 19:04
You can use your own judgement, knowing how long it will take to obtain the I-134.
April 11, 2019 at 19:16
Sorry , usually how long it will take to obtain the I -134? I really blank with it . Could it be expired?
April 11, 2019 at 19:48
Oh my. This really should not be a question.
Your relative will download the form from the net. Complete it, and send it to you (along with supporting documents – read the FAQ). You will need that at the interview.
So – how long will that take? I don’t know – ask your relative.
April 11, 2019 at 18:39
hello bri send my ds and those of my family, but they are not going to emigrate with me, my question is when sending the documents I have to fill yours or only mine
April 11, 2019 at 18:57
Only yours with an explanation that only you will be applying.
April 11, 2019 at 19:25

April 11, 2019 at 19:53

April 11, 2019 at 22:24
Dear Birt,
I was reviewing my DS-260, and I saw a carless mistake. I wrote my mother’s date of birthday 1056 instead of 1956. Should I reopen the DS-260, or leave it ?
April 11, 2019 at 22:27
Either way is OK.
April 12, 2019 at 14:17
Carfull about being careless, then you will arrive alive AA 🙂
April 11, 2019 at 23:15
Hi Brit! Thanks for all
I have a question: I won the DV and already in US since two months almost, and I got already my green card. I got married before coming to US and I need your help to know when can I start filling for my wife? And as living in Pittsburgh where can I go and get information needed?
Thank you in advance
April 11, 2019 at 23:20
I only answer DV lottery questions. You will need to start an I-130 process (about 2 years).
April 11, 2019 at 23:26
Thank you for replying Brit.
Concerning the DV, can my wife apply for the next October process at the same time filling the I-130?
April 11, 2019 at 23:58
Yes
April 12, 2019 at 01:06
Ok, thanks..
Will she need to add my information when registering in October 2019 despite i have my green card and already living in US?
April 12, 2019 at 14:12
She will follow the instructions.
April 12, 2019 at 03:31

we get seated and less than an hour we are called for interview , consular raise hand to swear and yes we do… 1 question : when did you finish your higher education ,, i answered , 2 which yr did you came to AS region , i answered 3, what are you doing after your high school completion , i answered .. consular said ok u re good to go you ll get ur visa on ur passport 2-3 days … no single question throw to my wife . interview lasted for 2 minute.. when we got home i check the ceac its AP for all family and next day all visa issued .. later in the day i got text msg courier picked up my passport for delivery 3 day passport with visa all delivered to us…. wooo sound unbelievable but its just real real and real…………. brit u ve done such a wonderful job .. i saw ur donation page i ll feed you back .. thank and God Bless all
April 12, 2019 at 14:16

April 12, 2019 at 11:38
Monday I send to kcc my documents but that not resived me any mail about my documents is fine or there’s need mor anything. Is it normal? There resived me “ your document currently processing” and decid.
April 12, 2019 at 14:18
You keep asking me about this. Stop asking. Patience.
April 12, 2019 at 12:23
I’m currently living in the US and employed under a H1B visa. My country (Sri Lanka) has consular specific requirements whereby they need an Affidavit of Support (Form I-130), I do not have a US sponsor and as such, can evidence of my employment and income suffice to meet this requirement? During my interview, can I just not provide an Affidavit of Support and provide documents that prove that I have sufficient income and will not become a public charge?
April 12, 2019 at 14:19
Yes
April 12, 2019 at 16:08
Sir got DV visa from Nepal.
Status: Visa Approved
Traveling: mid of May 019
Query
My sponser is at VA but I have my brother at New York forcing me to visit directly over there and stay for few days and go to with sponser. Can I travel to New York but I don’t want to change the address on immigration since I will collect my related doc from sponser address. Is this possible.
Questions
1) Do immigration officer ask me why iam not going VA directly.
2) Do they ask me to change address on such case.
3) Do they create some problem if I go New York instead of going VA
Your valuable suggestions required. Your suggestions is really unmeasurable to me.
Regards
Manoj

April 12, 2019 at 16:39
Hello brit…out of curiosity..i want to know if before you travel to activate your visa and it get missing in your home country, can you do another passport and go to the embassy for another visa telling them that your passport is missing or you have lost your chance to migrate forever
April 12, 2019 at 16:43
You would contact the embassy to discuss replacement.
April 12, 2019 at 16:51
Hi Brit, thank you for your invaluable advice. I had a question. The Police certificates from my country and other 2 countries are taking forever in the process. All other required documents are ready and waiting (birth cert..marriage…high school…). Is it wise to email KCC with the documents that are ready, and then complete with police certificates whenever I receive them? My CN# AF34XXX. Thanks
April 12, 2019 at 17:29
No. They specifically say they want all docs or none.
April 12, 2019 at 17:31
Thank you.
April 12, 2019 at 17:20
In 2-3 months i hope to have my dv interview, wife is principal. May I apply for a tourist visa at the same time, i mean to have the interview to get a tourist viza after to have the second one with my wife, the main reason is to enter first in us after that my wife will enter during 5 months as a dv winer?!
April 12, 2019 at 17:30
That will complicate matters. I don’t advise it.
April 12, 2019 at 20:37
Hello Mr brit first let me say thank you for efforts I’m from Chad my CN 2019AF25xxx I sent all required documents since 8 February I received mail from kcc on 22 February told me that Records indicate you have submitted a complete and valid DS-260 application for each family member, and you have provided all required documentation to the Kentucky Consular Center according to that can scheduled interview for me on juin
Thanks
April 12, 2019 at 20:44
Maybe.
April 12, 2019 at 21:10
Hi Brit! Yesterday we had our interview and our dv lottery visa application was denied (my father was the applicant), because 14 years ago he had a conviction (misuse of power).
They say that to apply for a waiver the conviction must have happened 15 years ago. Do you think we should apply for one/ do you think they will take that into consideration ?
April 12, 2019 at 22:48
I don’t know.
April 13, 2019 at 01:22
EU for June is 26800. If anybody’s interesting.
April 13, 2019 at 03:10
Hi Simon
It appears that my no would go current on the next visa bulletin “AS10xxx” . Am I able to pay for biometrics now in order to get the appointment early or do I have to wait til my no becomes current and submit payment with AOS package? (I have already paid DoS)
Thanks
April 13, 2019 at 03:17
What biometric fee????
You need to learn what you are doing.

April 13, 2019 at 15:26
You repeat the questions AND since you are reading other people asking the same question use some common sense and don’t waste my time please.
April 13, 2019 at 18:00
I am Donyen Yao Sosu, my DS-260 has an error with my last name being misspelled, how can I correct my name.
April 13, 2019 at 20:17
If you are not scheduled, ask KCC to unlock the DS260. If you are scheduled, ask the embassy. Read the FAQ.
April 13, 2019 at 18:05
Hi,
I won the DV2019 with a 29xxx case number for Europe. I am currently in the US on F1 and haven’t submitted my DS260 yet because I didn’t want to risk anything with my F1 visa – I wasn’t sure if my case would even become current and wanted to avoid problems with reentering the US on F1 after being home for Christmas. I applied for OPT about a month and a half ago and am still waiting on my Employment Authorization Document, so I’m still holding back on submitting the DS260 until that has gone through because submitting it now would probably lead to my OPT application being denied. I should get the EAD within the next month hopefully. Since you seem to have a good overview of this whole process, I have a few questions regarding my particular case:
1. Do you think it’ll be too late to submit the DS260 in May? What do you think should be the latest for me to submit it?
2. Once I’ve submitted the DS260, will I be able to leave the country and reenter on F1 or would they deny me at the POE because the DS260 shows dual intent?
3. With the backlog issue going on right now, do you think it’s likely that I won’t get an interview at all even if my number becomes current, because all the interview slots will be filled with lower case numbers?
Thank you,
Felicia
April 13, 2019 at 20:19
You haven’t said whether you plan to interview in your home country or adjust status in the USA.
April 13, 2019 at 21:33
Sorry about that. In my home country.
April 13, 2019 at 22:47
1. Well it is almost May now. I guess I would wait until the VB is released next month, and then decide. That should still be OK.
2. You are creating some risk for FUTURE NIV applications (if those are needed).
3. It’s a gamble. I cannot give you certainties…
April 13, 2019 at 23:53
Thank you for your opinion on this! So you don’t think I’ll have trouble traveling on F1 in case I submit the DS260 but won’t get an interview?
April 14, 2019 at 03:24
I answered.
April 13, 2019 at 18:10
today i had my physical visa on passport
never lost the hope
thank Brit Simon
i will donate as soon as arrived US
April 13, 2019 at 20:19
Patience pays, huh.
April 13, 2019 at 20:37
hhh, i cannot do it now in my country for security reason.
April 13, 2019 at 22:39
Huh – I mean well done for being patient in the process!
April 13, 2019 at 20:40
Sir,
I have made USCIS account and I paid the 220$ fees for all of our family members (3 members), shall I have to make an independent account for each of family members for future purpose?
April 13, 2019 at 22:39
I think one account is all you need.
April 14, 2019 at 03:20
Hi brit
I sent supporting documents on 03rd appril to the kcc but i havent get any respond from them except the auto reply. Is it the normal procedure or are they sending a reply saying required documents are okay or somthing. Im a bit worried here please please reply me brit.
April 14, 2019 at 03:26
You can ask them if they are satisfied.
April 14, 2019 at 08:28
Simon, hello!
I`ve sent photocopies to KCC, and could you please tell me – is it crucial if I dont have signature on my passport bio-data page photocopy? The point is that I put the signature after my documents were sent to KCC.
Can it cause problems or even denial on my DV interview?
Thanks in advance, any help would be really appreciated.
April 14, 2019 at 14:19
No problem.
April 14, 2019 at 12:55
Hello Simon,
My case number is 26xxx, still now my case is not a current, and i didnot send the supporting documents yet. So, can we say the delay for the documents caused that my case couldn’t avoid to be a current, or the released numbers will be a current for the coming days?
Thank you.
April 14, 2019 at 14:25
I don’t understand your question.
Just send your documents.
April 14, 2019 at 16:34
I mean my case still is not current, it is NVC and i include the interviewers for June, so when my case number can be a current?
Thank you.
April 14, 2019 at 17:50
Wait and see.
April 14, 2019 at 14:47
Dear Brit
Good Morning.
Kindly request you to clarify my following queries regarding I-134.
My interview is on first week of May.
On Part3, 26.a. “I have submitted a visa petition(s) to U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services on behalf of the following persons. (If none, write :None: in the space for name below.)
26.a.Family name (Last Name)……
My Sponsor(sister in law) had applied for Family Sponsored F4 visa (two siblings) three years back. One of her brother is my husband (derivative). His case is not current, it may still take about 8-9 years based on Visa Bulletin.
My question is:
1. Do she need to mention, the name of her siblings in 26.a, 26.b…29…..
Thank you.
Regards
SNO
April 14, 2019 at 15:13
Yes.
But – that mighten weaken the I-134, so a different sponsor would be better.
April 14, 2019 at 16:01
hello
my friend did his interview in December still he is in administrative processing it’s normal in Afghanistan every one go this process but he did not medical examination now can he do his medical directly without email of Embassy
April 14, 2019 at 16:02
He can, but it would be wise to discuss with the embassy.
April 14, 2019 at 16:03
Dear Sir, if someone relies on his savings to fullfill the public charge requirement, does he still need any document to show and prove where and whom he is going to live with, like passport or any ID from his relatives or friends in US. Thanks
April 14, 2019 at 16:15
No
April 14, 2019 at 18:31
Good day BritSimon and all readers.
Can a pregnant woman refuse the chest xray (to do it after pregnancy) and get the visa ?
Pls Brit redirect me if this question was previously answered, many thanks.
April 14, 2019 at 19:59
The medical cannot be competed without the Xray. The visa will not be issued without a completed & satisfactory medical. So – the woman can refuse – because application for the visa is a choice. The best idea is to use a shield for the baby (which is very common all over the world).
April 14, 2019 at 18:40
Good day, i am in the US right now. While entering US I forgot to hand my X ray CD to the officer he only took my envelope and didn’t mention the Xray. Should I inform thim or it’s fine.
Regards
April 14, 2019 at 20:01
Normal.
April 14, 2019 at 19:13
Good Evening Simon,
I am filling out an I-134 to sponsor a relative who won the DV lottery. He is married and has 2 children, all of them included are in the application.
The I-134 instructions state: “If you are sponsoring more than one foreign national, you must submit a separate Form I-134 for each foreign national”.
Do I have to fill out a separate form for each family member (4 in total)? or is one for the applicant, including his family members, sufficient?
Thank you
April 14, 2019 at 20:04
No – you are only sponsoring one applicant who has 3 derivatives. So – one I-134.
April 14, 2019 at 20:40
Hi Brit
When we enter “Visa Status Check”,we need incert “Immigrant Visa Case Number “.Where can we find it ?Thank you.
April 15, 2019 at 00:35
Your case number – given to you in your selected letter.
April 15, 2019 at 01:10
Thank you.Brit.
April 14, 2019 at 20:45

Hello Mr Brit , I’d like to know if someone s status must be at nvc , in transit then ready or is it possible to be at nvc then ready directly ?. ( I talk here when we check our visa status. )

In transit is a short period of time after the 2NL is sent and before the case is marked as received by the embassy. Sometimes that length of time can be so short that people do not notice the in transit.

Dear Simon:
I’m a permanent resident since June 2018. Now, I have a girlfriend with a legal status here in the US, but her visa will expire next year. My question is:
if we get married, can I give her a legal status?
Can she be able to work legally during the process?

I only answer DV lottery questions – but I urge you not to commit immigration fraud. Marry if you want – but DO NOT marry purely to give someone legal status.

Hello,
I received the email about sending my documents to KCC. I have all the documents ready except for a police certificate for Saudi Arabia. I used to live there but I no longer have the residency to go back there after I left for education in another country. The KCC said to send a scanned explanation as to I cannot send some documents. What do they mean by a scanned document? Do they mean an official explanation from that country? or can I explain it in a Word PDF file?
This was written in US reciprocity website about Saudi Arabia’s police clearance:
“Exceptions: Police clearances are unavailable for third country nationals who no longer reside in the Kingdom.”

Take a screenshot of the reciprocity page and add some explanation. Don’t overthink it.

Thank you. That’s what I did. just wanted to be sure from someone with expertise. Instead of taking a screenshot, I added the link to the whole page in the pdf.

Hi Brit, is it normal for KCC to take over 20 days for documents processing? I see everyone that posts here got confirmation after maximum 7 days, but my case still after 23 days, did not receive an email that confirms my documents have been processed.

The email you are fretting about is not required. If you want, email KCC to ask if your docs are satisfactory.
