Hello BritSimon! In 2016 my wife been selected for the 2017 DV Lottery and our number was 1265 which is so good. The problem and after we submit the DS 260 we discovered that when my wife applied she wrote that she is single, and that is why in the interview at the embassy we been told that we are disqualified and we been rejected the dream became a nightmare. I have two question:
1- Is it true that cause of what happened in 2017 we will not be selected again? or we still can apply and have a chance to be selected?
2-I am Swedish citizen but i was born in Egypt and i have both nationalities, when i applied for the DV Lottery 2020 i wrote that i was born in Egypt, but as a Swedish citizen i have bigger chance to be selected when we consider the small number of applications which are submitted from Sweden in comparison with the huge number from Egypt. In this case would my internet IP and my address and my Swedish citizenship play any role to increase my chance to win?
April 30, 2019 at 20:29
1. They would normally NOT deal with that as fraud, but they could do if they felt it was deliberate. Fraud would make her permanently ineligible.
2. The place you apply from has no impact on your chances of selection. Same answer for citizenship. It’s about place of birth.

Dear Simon
Part of the medical examination required to be taken, is a chest x-ray.
What would be the scenario if my wife cant have it done due to pregnancy?
Thanks as always for your feedback.
April 29, 2019 at 18:14
Pregnant women are typically offered an abdomen shield to protect the fetus.
If the woman is unwilling to accept that Xray with the shield, they cannot get the visa until a medical can be completed, and that might mean the case runs out of time.

Hi Simon,
Not sure if it varies by embassy, but do you know if I can pay DV fees at the embassy by credit card or needs to be cash? local currency or dollars ?
Instructions are not clear on the Brussels embassy website. In one section they say card or cash and in another they say cash.
Thanks a lot,
Kassem
April 27, 2019 at 16:03
Normally cash, but may vary by embassy.
April 27, 2019 at 16:05
Hi sir.
My full name on my passport and other documents I took to the interview some years back is now different from my high school certification name. My First name is now my middle name. But my surname is the same. Is it going to cause any problem during my interview??
Regard.
Andras.
April 27, 2019 at 16:16
Possibly. You will need to show that the education cert is actually yours. That will be easier if you filled out the DS260 properly using the “other names used” field.

Hi
I know people ask you this question a lot, but please don’t be angry with me!
It’s been 20 days since I emailed the required documents to KCC. I received the automatic response saying my documents had been received.
I want to ask you if you know what was the longest time for receiving the second email? is this delay normal and it’s because KCC is busy or should I start getting worried?
Thank you.
(I emailed KCC 10 days ago and they said give it time, but because some people with case numbers higher than me have received the second email in just 3-4 days, its beginning to seem unusual to me.)
April 28, 2019 at 14:07
Patience.
April 28, 2019 at 15:12
Thank you for all your great help BritSimon. Your page has really informed many of us

Thank you
April 28, 2019 at 15:22

I lost my confirmation number for green card lottery 2019. When I went to the page where you can take it back. It said that the information wasn’t correct. I dont know what to do. Can you please help me ?
April 29, 2019 at 12:32
If you are trying to check the results from entering last October – wait another few weeks for the system to be open. I have no way to check other than the ESC page.
April 29, 2019 at 10:43
Hi Brit ,
im making a subjective question and i need also a subjective answer if you have time on this
Last year i was a DV winner with case number EU 29128 and i didnt make it
This year i enrolled again in the DV lottery programme
do you think there is a chance to be again randomly selected ?
or do you know such a case before ? thank you for the time and the answer
April 29, 2019 at 12:33
RANDOM. That means your chance is the same as anyone else.
April 29, 2019 at 17:19
I applied for EDV2020 here I again forget to check Photo Validatior. After applying suddenly it came in my mind to check photo validator. While checking head is little big 71% then eligible size 69%. So I am just worried, will it disqualify me if I have been selected?
April 29, 2019 at 17:59
No.
April 29, 2019 at 18:13
Dear Simon
I was writing this question before, but didnt see it posted,so apologize if it posted more than once.
My wife is pregnant. What will be the medical examination protocol with her, as obviously she cant undergo any x-ray which is part of the medical examp protocol in preparation to the interview.
Thank you
April 30, 2019 at 10:45
Dear Simon

April 30, 2019 at 15:45

April 29, 2019 at 18:32
hello, how gan a dv winner file for her kids please…what are the procedures?
April 29, 2019 at 18:46
It is an I-130 process. I don’t advise on that, other than saying it takes around 2 years (for unmarried children under 21)
April 29, 2019 at 18:33
i meant how can * thank you
April 29, 2019 at 19:06

Hi BriSimon
First i am very lucky and happy in the same time to have found your blog , because i’m very confused and i really need your help.
My name is AbdRRaouf ,i’m from algeria and i was selected in the DV 2019 program , my case number is 2019AF36××× .The first time i submitted my DS-260 form was in august 2018 ,After that it turned out that i made a mistake concerning my personel information ,therefore i have sent a request to kcc asking them to unlock my DS-260 APRIL 14TH 2019 they unlocked it 2 day after ,anyway then i corrected the mistakes and when i tried to submit it 2day ago , i click on botton submit on the website but nothing ,it doesn’t work . And just after that when i was looking for the problem in internet i found your blog ,now i won’t do anything until i hear from you . So my DS is still unlocked althought i wil be current in the monthe of june (under visa bulttein of may ) .well that’s a part of the problem ………..1
2- I don’t have the baccaleureat yet , i pass it this year the exams will be on june 16th ,and the results will be released on juli 16th ,in addition normally i will be current on june .
Remarque : i didn’t send the required dokuments yet by KCC too .
So i really don’t want to miss this opportunity , i look forward for your advices
For exemple : what do you suggest to deley the appointement (late july-august ) , when will be supposed to get my second letter and so on ..
Kind Regards
God bless you my friend 🙂
April 29, 2019 at 20:16
1. You are probably not reading the selective service info on the final page. A male under 26 must click and read. Once you do that, the form will submit. The FAQ covers that – please read it.
2. You should submit your DS260 now and submit documents soon. There is NO chance of a June interview now, and probably no, or almost no chance of a July interview either if you wait a few more days.
May 1, 2019 at 01:56
Thank’s Bri , i have submited my Ds .
But now unfortunately, i have to wait until thursday to send the documents because the are being translated , yeah its clear that my situation is very bad , what do you think anew ?
And really thank you thank you thank you for your help Bri :)))
May 1, 2019 at 02:52
It is what it is. What more can I say?
April 30, 2019 at 02:12
hello brit please help me . I have a question. I won the visa lottery. I traveled to the United States and got my green card. I was in the United States for 4 months and returned to Venezuela that is my country of origin to fix personal situations. I have been in Venezuela for 10 months because the situation here is difficult and my mother is sick. My question is: can I enter to the United States again. I left in July 2018
Thank you in advanced.
April 30, 2019 at 02:44
Yes, but you should be there before 12 months away.
May 1, 2019 at 04:35
Thank you so much
April 30, 2019 at 09:39
Hi.
I’m a little worried about the Green Card being delivered as I don’t have any family in the USA or an address there. I do have a few contacts there however but the address would be a business address. Do you know if it is fine to change at the POE to a business and have the GC sent there or does it have to be a residential address? I won’t be in the USA when it arrives so not sure if that should all work out.
Thanks,
April 30, 2019 at 15:42
It should be a residential address.
April 30, 2019 at 10:29
I’m living and working in the US, but I had my interview for the Green Card, in my country at the American Embassy, and the consular officer said that our GC was approved.
It’s been a week since then, and our status still says “Ready” in the CEAC website, although there have been a few updates on the date. We haven’t received any other information from the shipping system either. I’ve also visited the website where I had registered the interview and I found this information:
Request history:
This applicant has not made any requests.
Follow-up Action History:
This applicant has no 221g history.
Q1: The statement about the 221g history means that we are clear on this?
Q2: They said they would return the passport within 10 days. Today it makes 7. Would you ask the Embassy if you don’t have the passport after those 10 days even though in their website they say you should just check the status on the CEAC website?
April 30, 2019 at 15:44
1. Doesn’t signify anything.
2. Ask the embassy.
April 30, 2019 at 15:50
The status changed to Administrative Processing. And this is the text below the new status:
Your visa case is currently undergoing necessary administrative processing. This processing can take several weeks. Please follow any instructions provided by the Consular Officer at the time of your interview. If further information is needed, you will be contacted. If your visa application is approved, it will be processed and mailed/available within two business days. Under the U.S. Immigration and Nationality Act, Immigrant Visas for “Diversity Visas” cannot be issued after September 30th of the year in which you were selected to apply for a Diversity Visa. For example, entrants into the Diversity Visa Program in Fall of 2011 were selected for Diversity Visa 2012 Program, and selectees MUST apply and receive their visa prior to September 30, 2012 otherwise they lose eligibility to receive a Diversity Immigrant Visa, regardless of additional administrative processing. In addition, please note that some immigrant visas may not be able to be issued if the annual numerical limit for that category has been reached.
For more information, please visit travel.state.gov
Q1: I haven’t received anything from the embassy or the consular officer. The officer actually said that everything was perfect and the green card approved. So, is it posible that this is a temporary status until it turns to “issued” in a few days?
April 30, 2019 at 15:57
1. Yes. The FAQ actually describes that if you read it.
April 30, 2019 at 16:02
Ok, thank you and sorry and I didn’t read it. Sometimes I read so many things that I forget where and what. You mean FAQ in your website?
Thanks
April 30, 2019 at 16:05
Yes
April 30, 2019 at 16:22
I understand what you say in FAQ
“Administrative Processing”
This is when someone did not have all the documents at the interview OR some additional checks are needed before the case can be adjudicated. AP can last a few days or several months. The status updates during that time are meaningless.
But, can it be the case, that everything is just fine, and the system shows this status between Ready and Issued for maybe 2 or 3 days?
Thanks
April 30, 2019 at 16:33
Again – that is IN the FAQ
April 30, 2019 at 16:56
Ok, I finally saw it. I think I’m freaking out.. sorry and thanks for your help
April 30, 2019 at 13:28
Brit good morning if it is morning when you leave, I am so sorry if I take your time but I am voried about 2 nd letters. KCC not contact me about my interview because not resived my 2nd letter. April 30, 2019 at 15:08
I can’t believe you are asking this AGAIN.
April 30, 2019 at 13:28
Hello Brit, thanks for all your guidance.
I got my Visa as a single but I have just got married and not that my spouse is willing to travel now .
So, am I supposed to adjust my status at POE from single to married?
Thanks ..
April 30, 2019 at 15:49
You should do so, yes.
April 30, 2019 at 13:37
I’m EU24xxx, so current. I received yesterday for the 3rd time “documents received” mail from KCC. I sent the documents in March. I telephoned KCC and they said I’d be scheduled for interview July. We’ll see!
April 30, 2019 at 13:40
Is there anyone of you who received the 2nl today or yesterday and from which country ? Thanks in advance
April 30, 2019 at 13:56
Hi simon please help me. My sponcers annual income is $21000 he is willing to sponcer me and my husband but he is telling me his lawyer said that its not enough. Im so worried mr.simon please help me is it true $21000 is not enough to sponcer a husband and wife.
April 30, 2019 at 14:39
Are you been asked to show sponsor income when you win the DV Lottery? Not sure. Unless your embassy particularly ask for it
April 30, 2019 at 15:52
If the sponsor is married or has children, then it is not enough.
https://britsimonsays.com/all-about-public-charge-affidavit-of-support-i-134/
April 30, 2019 at 16:05
Yes he has two children one is married and live separately. He is a citizen and has a apartment of his own.most of the people doesn’t like to give the affidavit of support simon,so sad after selecting and having every qualification but at thethe end it depends on sponsorship :-[
April 30, 2019 at 16:41
Well 21k for his own family is barely enough.
The need to meet the financial requirement is pointed out in the original entry instructions. It is clear on my website. It should not be a surprise.
April 30, 2019 at 14:20
Hi Semon
Greetings ,,,,
My Case Number is 2019AS13XXX
I have a problem during submission of my DV lottery DS260. I get a message that says “The Case Number entered is currently unavailable. Please try again later or contact the Kentucky Consular Center (KCC)”,
According to this events:
– June 2018, I submitted my DS260 for me and my family.
– Our DS260 reviewed by KCC after two weeks.
– I started get this message in July 2018 till now.
– I called KCC but they said that they can’t make it available.
– My documents requested from KCC in Dec 2018.
– My documents reviewed by KCC in Jan 2019.
– Now I waiting 2NL and still receiving this message.
So is this normal for all applicants.
Note:
I remove the leading zeros when I enter my case number.

April 30, 2019 at 15:54
“I called KCC but they said that they can’t make it available.”
That’s all you need to know – right?
May 1, 2019 at 06:41

Hello Brits,
My attorney has filed an immigrant petition on my behalf early in 2019 and it is yet to be approved by USCIS. I want to pay a visit to the US in two months time. Am i qualified to apply for a non-immigrant visa?
April 30, 2019 at 15:56
Ask your attorney.
April 30, 2019 at 16:10

April 30, 2019 at 16:12
Hi simon,
1) A person who won the green card in 2015 can sponsor?
2) but he lives in a rent place is it okay?
April 30, 2019 at 16:33
Yes.
April 30, 2019 at 18:58
Hello Sir, thank you in advance for your answer. I would like to know if my wife benefits from social housing may make it difficult to apply for citizenship in the future.
April 30, 2019 at 19:00
Possibly. It really depends on the nature of the assistance she received.
April 30, 2019 at 17:00
I ask you egein and egein because you never answer me nice always you are anheppy when I asking enything you are friendly for another people but not to me I don’t now why. I am sorry if I take your time. For you is nothing answering normally. For me this is all life. One mor time sorry and by.
April 30, 2019 at 17:14
A couple of weeks ago I gave you a link which if you had bothered to read it would have explained you need to wait until the end of the month. You lazily asked me various versions of the same question 5 more times since then, and I answered you. That is disrespectful of my time.
https://britsimonsays.com/ask-questions/comment-page-320/#comment-175392
The month is not over. The 2NLs for June will be sent within a few hours. You may be in that group otherwise you will wait until the end of next month for a July interview. Either way – you need to show some patience. And if you repeat these questions again I will simply ignore or delete those questions.
April 30, 2019 at 17:12
Can You answer me just for last question can my mam call in kcc ask about my case because she lives in US. For me is uncomfortable call to them because time between Kentucky and Tbilisi is wery difference. If you don’t want me answering no problem.
April 30, 2019 at 18:04
Sir,
Thanks for all for the first part and I follow your advice to exercice patience in your comments with impatient winners. I just received the 2NL for the 27 June.
I hope to get visa and inchallah I will let you know.
Once again thanks

Hello .
I received the message “Record ……” since April 8 and my box is af29xxx, the appointments of June are out and I have not been programmed ie I do not have my 2NL.
What is the basis of that in your opinion.
Thank you
May 1, 2019 at 14:24
April 8 was too late to be scheduled in April. The VB was published on the 8th, and that is based on the cases they have for interview.
May 1, 2019 at 16:31
Hi Brit,
Hope you are well.
We already received our visa package today.
But upon checking the visa they have entered wrong birthdate for my husband.
Please advise what we should do?
And, if they are going to correct this details do u think it will take time again?
We had our interview 7th April
AP on 28th April
Issued on (29th April

Dear Brit
I am from Nepal.
My sister in law has filed siblings petition ( 3 years back) for my husband. Now, I am the DV winner and my husband is beneficiary.
1) Does it affects my current interview process?
2) My sister in law is the sponsor for us. Since, sibling petition takes still 9-10 years. Does it make any affect on my current sponsor. I could not find the new sponsor because my interview is too close.
Waiting for your kind suggestion.
Thanks & regards
SNO

1. No
2. You can use her as your sponsor since the sibling petition will become unnecessary.

Hi Brit,
Thanks for all your guidance, finally the 2NL came through, but has I was perusing through my DS260 I noticed that the birth date for my kid was captured wrongly. However, on his DS260, it was captured correctly. Kindly advise if this could be a serious ground for visa denial and how I can get it corrected given that I can no longer unlock my DS260. Thanks again.
