Hi Brit
My CN DV2020 EU47XXX . Do you think i have any chances for an interview?
Thanx a lot
May 9, 2019 at 11:31
It is too early to know for sure. In a few weeks and months we will know more, but this is a LONG process – so no need to know everything today. Please look at the lottery guide linked above, read the FAQ, and hold off submitting your DS260 for now until you understand more.

Hello
I attended interview last year November, my status is reading AP up to now. So I want to ask that can I go to the embassy for enquiries what is happening? If yes what I should go with. Thanks.
May 9, 2019 at 11:32
You can ask but they probably won’t give much info.
May 9, 2019 at 20:29
Dear Brit. Just came across to this website and I’ve read a lot of things I didn’t know before.I appreciate your help. I know you must be tired of this kind of questions but I hope you will answer. I have applied for dv lottery on 6th October, thinking it’s just beginning of the lottery. I have been selected but my case number is really high- EU48xxx. Should I fill out DS-260 or not? To obtain and submit scanned documents such as police record will take at least 6weeks where I live. I’m really anxious now because I’m afraid to loose a chance to enter US in future if I will not be called. Thanks.

No need to fill it out yet. Wait a few months.
May 10, 2019 at 18:25
Hi brit
I plan on entering the lottery this october. However, i will graduate high school at june 2020. Am i eligible to enter?
May 10, 2019 at 22:53
Yes
May 11, 2019 at 00:40
I notice that in the entry form it says “highest level of education, as of today”
Does this mean I should select high school no degree? Or should i select high school degree as I will graduate well before any interviews start?
May 11, 2019 at 05:34
“as of today”
May 9, 2019 at 08:32
Is there any way of “withdrawing” the ds260? we are in the middle of a J-1/J-2 visa process and we just submitted the ds260 without realizing that this may disqualify us from the J-1/J-2 visa due to evidence of “immigration intent”. Our case number is high 3XXXX for 2020EU, so we have plenty of time to submit the ds260 again later but we just want to make sure so that J-1/J-2 visas get processed without a suspicion that we want to immigrate to the US…
May 9, 2019 at 11:41
I just answered, but no. The suspicion would be correct wouldn’t it.
May 9, 2019 at 09:30
I have my DV Lottery visa interview at a US embassy in a major European city for Africa region (my chargability) in early June 2019
Am I being stupid if I want to reschedule interview to July? My children have exams and I have work commitments (overseas meetings and deadlines).
I have been told that visa issuance almost guaranteed (subject to them being happy) on the interview date arranged as there is a visa number “waiting for you”
They can’t guarantee there will be a visa number if I reschedule by even 2-3 weeks – but what are the chances and history of that?
The exact words are as follows:-
“Visas are issued to qualified applicants on first-come, first-served basis until the full quota for each country or the deadline has been met, whichever comes first
Please also note that a visa number is required for a visa to be issued. If you choose to reschedule your appointment, we cannot guarantee if a visa number will be available for your use by the time you are ready to apply.”
QUESTIONS….
What are the chances by rescheduling by a 2-3 weeks the full quota for each country will be met? – By Country I assume they mean region AF region?
SIMON,WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A QUOTA AND A VISA NUMBER – IS THIS DIFFERENT – as above they are 2 separate paragraphs saying different things – are they different?
Isn’t the visa number the same as individual visa’s within a quota? or are they different?
Is there historical evidence when the full quota’s are reached ? I’m sure they should be availability in July if the program closes on 30 September 2019
Do they always “run out” well before 30 September every year –
AM I BEING STUPID BY DELAYING 2-3 WEEKS TO JULY
WOULD YOU TAKE THE RISK?
May 9, 2019 at 11:47
“WOULD YOU TAKE THE RISK?”
No.
Read the FAQ to know more, but my answer is complete.
May 9, 2019 at 14:50
Thanks for your complete answer
But when rescheduled interviews occur, do they lead to success
I read somewhere on your own site that Africa didnt reach its quota – https://britsimonsays.com/dv2019-ceac-analysis/
Is there any evidence, historical data where we know when they “run out” on the quota or the 30th September deadline hits
May 9, 2019 at 17:56
Yes they can run out, but that is not the point, and not even a concern this year. If you change your interview you are not guaranteed a date for the new interview and if you go past the original month you no longer have an allocated visa. So then you are at the mercy of an overwhelmed team at KCC and the embassy to try and re-allocate a visa to you later.
My advice is clear.
May 9, 2019 at 17:48
what mikki said
what is the difference between quota and visa number in two “quoted paragraphs”
even i wondered the same when i read it
i have seen same paragraphs on official site somewhere and i wondered at that time what they meant
mikki makes a good point but remained unanswered
May 9, 2019 at 18:16
Mikki asked about the difference between a visa number and quota in quoted paragraphs in his question
Also is a country different to a region as they are denoted by AF, AS etc.
Does the country or is the region quota that matters??? as the quoted paragraph mentions country not region
it’s confusing to say the least
i’ve read the same quoted paragraphs Mikki mentioned on the official site somewhere – what are the differences as I have wondered this myself at that time
May 9, 2019 at 19:58
I have written so muych anbout this – you can check the FAQ.
Quota is by region, but no single country can take more than 7% of the global quota.
May 9, 2019 at 11:23
Hi brit hope well i want to check dv lottery 2020 result but when I entered the system say invalid in formation but i believed to i enter it correct
May 9, 2019 at 11:31
Hi Mr. Brit
I get such an error.
The case information you entered does not match our records. Please try again or contact the Kentucky Consular Center (KCC) by email ([email protected]) or by phone (Public Inquiry Phone Number 606-526-7500 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. EDT Monday – Friday) for further assistance.
How can I solve?
Thank you from now.

May 9, 2019 at 14:36
hi brit;
i guess there is a problem in turkey consular center, not even 17 18 thousends get their 2nl’s and almost nobody get june interviews (based on whatsapp groups and forums). so my question is: if i don’t get 2nl in this month too, can i change the consular center to any european country to get scheduled? or is it too late? if i can should i do this?
May 9, 2019 at 17:54
You could try.
May 9, 2019 at 18:51
thank you, then i am looking for the most suitable country. by the way i don’t want to take your time but i just can’t figure it out, do you have any idea what’s so special about turkey? other countries working double to accomplish the process but turkey consulate not even give the appointments for june for the people that should have been scheduled for the may(their documents and all is completed).
May 9, 2019 at 20:36
You can’t just pick whereever you want to be interviewed. Your interview is based on where you live.
May 9, 2019 at 15:25
Hi Brit. Thanks for the great work you are doing. I applied for the 2020 lottery but unfortunately forgot to print my confirmation page. I have been trying to retrieve my confirmation number but the reply i get is “PLEASE VERIFY PRIMARY ENTRANTS`INFORMATION. I am lost. my spouse is also getting the same response.
May 9, 2019 at 19:41
Seems like you need to read the instructions more carefully. Try that.
May 9, 2019 at 15:30
Hi Birt,
I’m from Asia region. My husband won the lottery. Case number is 2020AS000063**
While waiting for looters results he applied for a master’s in Sweden and paid the first semester fee too. Right now we’re in the Sweden resident visa application stage. We will land in Sweden by 1st week of August 2019. He will complete his studies in 2021 June.
We decided, we’ll continue with the Sweden process as we are not guaranteed a USA visa just bcz we won the lottery. But we will continue the USA visa process and hopefully enter USA after master’s. My question is, will there be any negative impact on the USA visa process if we move to Sweden? Any special steps?
May 9, 2019 at 15:31
I’m so sorry Brit . I’ve typed your name wrong…
May 9, 2019 at 19:45
You appear to think this lottery opportunity will wait forever. It won’t. You have until September 30 2020 to complete your process and must enter 6 months after approval/. Please read the FAQ and guide and make sure you understand.
May 10, 2019 at 01:51
Thank you for the reply Brit. I understand that it won’t stay till we want. What I meant to ask was, if I meet the deadlines of the USA visa and do everything necessary while being in Sweden, will the change of our location (from my country to Sweden) have a negative impact on the process.?
May 10, 2019 at 02:34
Not really.
May 10, 2019 at 12:38
Thank you ?
May 9, 2019 at 16:16
Hi.
Number: 2020EU25XX
Do you know chances?
Does early submission of the initial form grants you priority or only the number?
Thanks.
May 9, 2019 at 19:48
Too early to talk chances.
Case number drives it – no need to rush.
May 9, 2019 at 16:30
Hi brits nice to be here in this moment
May 9, 2019 at 16:33
Hi,
My question is about Present and Previous Address Information on the form.
I moved to another countries many times for work sometimes less than 6 month, but last time i stayed 1 year and 3 months but i went out in every 6 month to be sure about not having problems with legal.
should i write down all the address info on the form for every travel?
these travels were for my company projects but not legal business travels – i was like a tourist.in legal.
and also i m in mexico right now – for work for 3 months but i m gonna continue here for more than a year.
these addresses are neccessary to write down? even mexico?
May 9, 2019 at 19:49
You need to tell the accurate truth. And for the country where you stayed over a year you will need a police certificate.
May 9, 2019 at 18:06
Dear brit
I have a strange question
I am mind-blowing about somethings happens to me..
I won the gc2020 and ingenually I gave the confirmation paper to a guy?
Can something happens? He do not have my documents.. Or my details
Thank you
May 9, 2019 at 19:56
I don’t predict the future. Use some common sense.
May 9, 2019 at 20:18
Ok.. For sure but I mean can this guy doing somethings wrong for my application??
May 9, 2019 at 21:18
I know. I answered.
May 9, 2019 at 23:14
That’s mean someone without my documents or some specific information but just with case number is able to use the details in the confirmation format… So I have to take back the details and hope I didn’t use
May 9, 2019 at 19:15
Hello Simon
I would like to ask you about the police certificate. My interview will be held in the UK and I am here since September, so I wanted to know if I need to bring a UK police certificate at my interview?
May 9, 2019 at 21:13
If in doubt, get it.
May 9, 2019 at 20:45
Hallo sir,
Due to the checking of the 2020 selectees result as from this week, will this affected the 2019 case remainind to go current? at least when will we expect case No. 37201 and above to be current? Thanks
May 9, 2019 at 22:12
We have to wait and see.
May 9, 2019 at 20:52
Your site is excellent and provides a lot of information – in fact it is amazing so thank you – it seems quite time consuming for you and you take such a great interest and have such vast knowledge of the DV program – which is REALLY great for us, thank you.
I am so surprised with the quality of some questions asked and how you put up with such poor questions – it must annoy you when you see some of these questions
But what I want to know is what’s in it for you? Why do you take such a great interest and how do you know so much about and it, and why take so much time – over what seems like years and years – WHY? Surely you are not even paid for this?
I am very, very, VERY grateful of course, but I scratch my head thinking –
– what’s your (genuine) interest and gain?
– how you can get such silly questions and still respond – I’m embarrassed reading some myself thinking “oh my days, how can someone even ask this”
Sorry to ask – but for you to run something like this that is so great, how comes, and for what?
May 9, 2019 at 23:13
Thanks for asking. I’ve been through the process myself – so I know it can be stressful and there is little good quality info out there. So – I decided to fill that gap and there was/is no profit motive. I normally get around 7k hits per day in the “quite” season with spikes from May to October. Over the last two days my site has had 250k hits (obviously the DV2020 spike). So – there is demand and confusion out there – and I don’t mind helping people that need help, although some people are just not prepared to use some common sense.
May 9, 2019 at 21:10
Do any dv winners need a sponsor from the US as in the DS 260 asks us to provide an address in the US of a friend or family member to send the Green card??I’ve no one in the US.Please answer
May 9, 2019 at 23:16
You need to read the FAQ and various guides.
May 9, 2019 at 21:10
Hi,
I wanna ask if you have any new information about people being disqualified for submitting the same photo as last year’s DV lottery, or any older photo for that matter? I also made a terrible mistake of submitting the same photo in my initial application last year and have now been selected and have already submitted the DS 260 and am now worried that I will wait (possibly) until next year only to be disqualified on the basis of that single stupid mistake.
Thank you
May 9, 2019 at 23:19
They introduced a re-clarification/restatement of the rule around a year ago. Since then I have not heard of a single case disqualified for that reason. However, they are entitled to disqualify for that reason any time they like and could easily implement that at any time.
May 9, 2019 at 22:14
What is the longest I can drag it out – or do you know people who have dragged it out for as long as they can – before finally moving to the US after being granted the DV Immigrant Visa / Green Card
I have read your FAQ’s and all that about an IO refering you to a Judge etc. and having it revoking or volunteering it at a POE
But I want to drag it it out as long as I can before I make the jump.
The reason is, I live in the UK and my kids want to finish their education here (and it is cheaper too). The UK is as good a place to live, if not better, but I want as much time to think about it before I make the “final” leap. Even 12-18 months etc. Its too soon
I think you are from the UK so you know, this can be an incerdibly hard choice – both nations are great – which really is the better (not sure) – I can argue the UK is better with one hand, then I can argue the US is better with the other – do you see?
Is there a methodology this can be dragged out for as long as possible before the alarm bells start ringing and I finally have to choose?
Do you know people who have made it several years successfully after the initial grant/ lottery win without having made the leap?
What was their secret?
May 9, 2019 at 23:40
There is a FAQ entry that describes all that – please read it.
Yes UK to USA is almost a wash. Typically people take a temporary backward step when they emigrate. It’s expensive and stressful. If you are not sure why you would do that, you probably shouldn’t.
May 9, 2019 at 22:24
Hi Mr Simon my friend won the DV lottery 2020, on his letter it says state foreign cheargeability Congo Kinshasa, i think it should say state foreign of cheargeability Rwanda, because while filling his e DV entry he said country of birth Rwanda and current nationality Congo Kinshasa as he olds a Congolese passport and his parent’s are Congolese, is it going to be an issue with the CO at the interview?
May 9, 2019 at 23:42
Probably not as both countries are in the same region.
May 9, 2019 at 22:55
Hi,
I clicked on yes to AoS as I am on a L1 visa and my employer has just started also the skilled worker application and said this will be great back up because of the back up of Multi Managerial visas have run out.
I have my form filled out and just reviewing so have not gone to the final submit.
I have a visa run in July for my last year with a L1 visa here so good for over a year still.
1. Do I have to do anything, get anything started for the Aos?
2. for addresses it asks for street address do you have to put in apt #?
3. I have worked in the same company for 13 years in different roles , do I say yes to different occupations and add in the info even if the roles for the most part been the same , just different divisions?
4. Last time I entered into the Usa to when? I remain here in the Usa so what should I add for days/weeks there?
5. Can I travel after I have submitted this form?
May 9, 2019 at 23:50
If you are a DV winner you should make that clear and give year/region/case number range.
If your case is DV2020 you have MONTHS to wait and you should not submit the DS260 just yet. You can learn everything you need to know from the AOS specific thread below.
https://forums.immigration.com/threads/dv-2020-aos-only.340762/
May 9, 2019 at 23:26

May 9, 2019 at 23:55
Wait a few days.
May 9, 2019 at 23:37
Hello Brit,
Frist I thank you for all the good work!
I told my sponsor to fill I-134 form and he did. I have printed and came to know he put N/A on Income and Asset Information. My interview is on Monday, Nairobi. Do you think this form will help me? I have $13000 USD in my account. Any suggestion!
May 9, 2019 at 23:59
The form is pointless without his income and proof of that income.
Your savings may be enough so take proof of that.
May 10, 2019 at 03:26
All the best with the interview on monday.
May 10, 2019 at 00:09
Hi Brit
My case number for dv 2020 is AS14xxx.
Any good chances? Based on last year for example.
Also when should vb for dv 2020 start releasing?

It is too early to know for sure. In a few weeks and months we will know more, but this is a LONG process – so no need to know everything today. Please look at the lottery guide linked above, read the FAQ, and hold off submitting your DS260 for now until you understand more.

The first DV2020 VB will be in August for October interviews.
May 10, 2019 at 00:28
Hello Brit, thanks for your support.please a question;I just received an email from the embassy asking me to confirm my appointment.I tried doing so but they are also asking for my DS260 number.the problem is I can’t lay hands on my DS260 confirmation page. But I have that of my beneficiary(my son).Should I go ahead and use it ie is it same?if not how can I retrieve mine?
Thanks,best regards,
May 10, 2019 at 00:37
Log in to your DS260 and navigate to the confirmation page. It is there.
May 10, 2019 at 06:55
I was selected in 2020 lottery for further process but my wife don’t want to accompany me to US. Do I need to submit her DS260 or her documents even if she is not interested to be in the process?
May 10, 2019 at 22:02
You need to list her on YOUR ds260, but you do not create a DS260 for her (and no documents sent).
May 10, 2019 at 22:18
Thanks. I started the DS260 for her but i didn’t complete (incomplete status) it or submit it. Is that OK?
May 10, 2019 at 23:19
Yes
May 10, 2019 at 07:17
Hi, my case number is 2020AS00029xxx. I think it’s VERY high, and I don’t even understand how it’s possible, considering that they only select about 15000 people from Asia. Do you think there is any chance with this number?
May 10, 2019 at 21:21

May 11, 2019 at 03:10
Excuse me! Are you from Iran?
May 10, 2019 at 07:24
Hi Brit… During submission or handling the Police Criminal record report to the Embassy or Consular officer does it need to be confidential? meaning that it should be sealed in the envelope like Medical report?
May 10, 2019 at 21:22
That varies by country, you can read the country specific instructions and the reciprocity page.
May 10, 2019 at 07:42
Hello,
I am a DV2019 entrant and am now trying to submit my ds260. Every time I try and submit my addresses it times out or simply freezes and then shuts me out with an error screen. Is there any way around this? I can submit 12 addresses with no problems but after that it just wont work. And I can just submit some of them and hope to go back because it tells me that there are gaps of more than 1 month and it wont allow me to save and come back. I have 32 address since I was 16. I am worried that I wont even be able to submit the form!
I hope someone has some answers as I am getting desperate. I have tried to submit this for more than 40 times now.
thanks
Shelby
May 10, 2019 at 11:25
I had a similar issue and I had only half at many addresses. So I can understand your frustrations. What I did was I put the date of the last address before saving to the year I was 16. This tricks the system and it allows you to save your work. I did this after every 6 addresses until I was done. Try it. And good luck!
May 13, 2019 at 15:11
Hi Anna, THANK YOU! It worked!!! 🙂 What a relief!!!!
May 10, 2019 at 21:28
How old are you that you need to submit 32 addresses????
They don’t need every address where you spent a vacation. Slim down the list, save often.
May 12, 2019 at 15:15
I am only putting the residential addresses. I moved a lot. I can’t save at all because every time I do it comes up with an error message that I have more than a month between dates and must fill all of that before it will save. Thanks Anna…I will definitely give that a go!
May 10, 2019 at 08:09
dear sir
in my case i have got the reply like below…
when iam sing in to DS-260 iam getting a error message that ””'”the case number not match with your records “””
“Your case will not be scheduled for an interview appointment until a visa number is available, you have submitted a complete and valid DS-260 application for each family member, and you have provided copies of all required documentation to the Kentucky Consular Center (KCC). You will receive document submission instructions by e-mail after KCC processes and accepts the DS-260 application forms for you and any accompanying family members. If you are scheduled for an interview, you will receive an e-mail notification message. These important e-mails will be sent to the email address you provided on your initial application. Notify KCC at [email protected] if your e-mail address changes to ensure you receive all notifications regarding your Diversity Visa case.”
May 10, 2019 at 21:38
OK – so correct the number. Read this.

May 10, 2019 at 08:26
Hi Britsimons
Actually , I would like to ask , I have applied as legaly seperated at the time of application I haven t the picture and data of my husband , I have got selescted and filled DS as married and included my husband , I have an interview scheduled at the embassy , should I carry on or I will be rejected .
Many Thanks
May 10, 2019 at 21:39
Do you have documentation from a court about the legal separation? If not, you will be disqualified.
May 10, 2019 at 08:35
Hey Brit,
thank you so much for all these info.
I’m here on a O1 visa that expires in July 2020 and just got selected for the lottery. I really need to go back to Italy for the summer but I keep finding different opinions about CP and AOS.
Can I list my US address as a present adress, wait for the interview, and fly back in Europe for a month to do everything and have the eventual CG shipped directly here in the US?
Or AOS is the only/best way to go for me?
Best,
Leo
May 10, 2019 at 21:41
Best idea would be DO NOT file a DS260 yet, take your summer. Come back after the summer and file later (IF that makes sense). AOS or CP, NOTHING can happen until October at the earliest anyway.
May 10, 2019 at 22:02
Thank you so much for your reply.
Reading other posts where they suggest to apply fast, could that be risky and make me lose my position?
What if I travel with my visa while I sent the application?
Best,
Leo
May 10, 2019 at 22:04
What is your region/case number?
May 10, 2019 at 23:57
EU24###
Thank you,
Leo
May 11, 2019 at 00:12
Right, so your number is not going to be current until well into 2020, so why on earth are you so keen to rush? You have nothing to gain by rushing and nothing to lose by doing what I said.
May 11, 2019 at 01:49
Even if my case won’t be current before 2020, I was wandering if traveling back to Europe in September without having completed the application was not a smart choice, as Is really close to the deadline.
Thanks again,
Leo
May 11, 2019 at 05:25
You just aren’t listening. I can’t keep saying the same thing.

Dear sir,
I am selected in edv 2020. I have fill edv form from consultant. During fill up they do a great mistake. They fill bachelor instead of +2. I have 10 years of working experience and 12 year of education but not bachelor. What will happen if I correct it in Ds 260 form?? Needs your help.
May 10, 2019 at 21:50
That means certain disqualification. There is no fix.
May 11, 2019 at 14:25
Dear Brit
Thank you for your help. My case no is 2020AS000007xx. If I do correction in Ds form then I will disqualify or not? I am worries about it. Please provide me right suggestion.
May 11, 2019 at 14:42
if u have entered bachelor degree in initial entry then you must have bachelor certificate else forgot about it. you will waste time and money if you proceed further. you must pass till september 2019 if you want to proceed.
May 11, 2019 at 16:42
@Sol, that is not accurate. I had already misunderstood the first badly written post. Please don’t add to the confusion.
May 11, 2019 at 14:45
you have other option is to pass until may or june 2019 and submit document then which will cause delay and you can have interview in later month.
May 11, 2019 at 15:48
Hang on – I now see you are talking about education level, not marital status and derivatives. For goodness sake be CLEAR!!
Enter it correctly in the DS260 and it will be fine.
May 13, 2019 at 15:19
Hello Brit That means I can write higher secondary School in ds260 form. They will not disqualify me for the mistake done during entry form which I have written bachelor.

Hey brit, I am a 2019 DV winner. I have just interviewed before two weeks. The consular officer approved my visa. But the visa is not yet given me. It has been 15 days after the interview. Is there any problem my visa? or can it wait a longer time?
May 10, 2019 at 22:11
Patience…
May 10, 2019 at 12:14
Dear BritSimon
I saw your articles at April 17, but I still have no idea about the word “Current” in the Historical Visa Bulletin.
The word “current” means all interviews are completed and the case numbers bigger than this is no chance to interview,
or it means that any case number can be interviewed before September. this year.
Sorry, my English is no good.
For example, in the Visa Bulletin Asia 2018, it showed “10500” on July and “Current” on August. If my case number is 2018AS10600, do I have any chance to interview after August or not?
In fact I got the DV 2020AS25xxx, but I real don’t know if any chance for the interview.
Thank you for your time.
Best Regard
Ryan Chang (From Taiwan Asia)

Your number is very high. It is too early to know if you will have a chance or not. Read this.
https://britsimonsays.com/dv2020-basic-questions/
May 10, 2019 at 22:37
I concur with Ryan Chang – there is a confusion about this word “Current”. I was in the middle of reading the blog looking for a simple explanation to the same topic, when his email question about the same thing popped up. A lot of people are confused about it despite the given explanation. Simply answered if I am correct, you could say – “Once a country goes Current – this means that no more interviews will be held beyond the number shown prior to Current”. (I never saw a simple explanation like this anywhere in the blog). OR..if interviews can STILL be held beyond the last Visa Bulletin number when “Current” is shown, how does that happen?
(it seems the explanation is that when the word Current is shown it means that there are enough visas to fulfill the last number before Current …but the words “Remaining Likely Demand” are confusing ….remaining from what number? Numbers beyond the last number shown – or up to it???
May 10, 2019 at 23:25
It is actually simple. You are just making it seem more complicated. Current means ALL NUMBERS CAN BE INTERVIEWED. Just that. The likely demand relates to how KCC decide whether or not to go current. Current is the decision.
May 11, 2019 at 00:44
Thank you for taking the time to explain that! (I did think however that when each number appears on the VB every month, that THAT meant all those numbers appearing each successive month could be interviewed). Apparently not – its only when Current is used. Thank you for clarifying that. One learns something every day!

Dear Brit,
If when i was apply for the DV visa and my country of born was giving me the eligibility but i used my nationality country which is my spouse country as well and i have been selected is it ok to proceed with DS260 or i will be refused by the consular in the embassy interview , appreciate your kind response
Regards,
Mody
May 10, 2019 at 22:19
You can proceed using your spouse’s chargeability
May 11, 2019 at 04:37
Thanks a lot
May 11, 2019 at 05:23
Regarding to below section and if my wife do not meet it should i proceed as i have reviewed the law they mention some how that both of us will be considered as principal applicants and we should enter the US together but nothing about the requirements
—————
Now- there are a couple of downsides. First, if the winner is charging to a spouses’ country, both selectees must meet the other eligibility criteria (education/work experience) and both must enter the USA together.
—————
May 11, 2019 at 05:46
Principals must meet the requirements. BOTH if both are principals.
May 11, 2019 at 05:56
Dear Mr Brit,
Sorry for rebounding
But As of below section should i proceed if my wife doesn’t meet the education part or i can proceed as i am the principal applicant and i met all other section a part from the chargeability ad i have just used chargeability from my spouse (wife)
A principal registrant born in a country that is among those for which DVs are available may derive a more favorable foreign state of chargeability from an accompanying alien spouse. For example, a principal applicant from a DV eligible country from a high-admission region may claim a more favorable chargeability from a spouse, who is from a DV eligible country from a low-admission region, provided the relationship was established prior to submitting the DV entry. In such instances, however, both applicants are considered principal applicants for the purpose of cross-chargeability and must be issued visas and apply for admission to the United States simultaneously.
Warm regards
May 11, 2019 at 06:03
I already answered. BOTH need to meet the requirements.

Hello Dear Britt,
First of all thank you for your precious work on this DV domain. This is very narrow topic and finding valuable information is a struggle. My question is regarding the high Case Numbers in the DV2020 lottery. I have made small statistical analysis and I see that at least in EU numbers are going high as 55XXX (and mine is unfortunently 54xxx). Do you think anything can cause this.
One bonus question. Are there identical Case Numbers in different regions i.e EU1234 and AF1234 or are they uniquely distributed around the globe. Once again I understand it’s too soon to talk about any guesses but if you have anything in your mind it will be appreciated.

Hello Bret,
Is any dv visa has been issued for Iran in years 2018 and 2019?
If so, under what circumstances Iranian can get the dv visa?
May 10, 2019 at 22:23
Other than Iranians in the USA there are almost no exceptions to the ban.

Make sure you have one ONLY browser window and try again.

Hi Brit,
I won the DV and I am thinking of getting married to my long-term girlfriend who is not from a country where DV is offered as an option (i.e. Bangladesh, South Korea etc)… Can she still apply for DV-2?
May 10, 2019 at 22:38
She can be your derivative, yes.
May 10, 2019 at 16:21
HI!
I have read your posts on how to check your dv lottery status. However, i am one of those cases where i still get an error even though i entered everything exactly. Is there any chance i can send you a pic of submission conformation and you can check it for me? thank you so much and i will really appreciate your help
May 10, 2019 at 22:39
You are almost certainly doing something wrong. EVERY single case I check is like that.
But if you are certain you are paying attention, send it to britsimon3 at gmail
May 10, 2019 at 16:29
Bret,
Does any lottery visa has been issued for countries in travel ban for 2018 and 2019 fiscal year?
I am from Iran and I want to know if I fill out the forms or do not waste my time on this.
May 10, 2019 at 17:32
Also, Bret, could you please provide me with a table showing the amount of issued visa for each country for 2018, and 2019 so far. I checked State Department and it just shows up to 2017.

Unless you already live in the USA, until the ban is removed you are probably wasting your time.

Good afternoon I hope you are well, I left selected on dv2020 and I have some doubts about the form ds260:
1.- I have traveled several times to the United States but I do not have a visa but the permit is because I have nationality from Venezuela and Spain but there is a part that asks me if I have a visa, does the ESTA count as a visa?
2.-I am also asked this question: Are you issued an Alien Registration Number by the Department of Homeland Security? but I do not know much about it
heartfelt thanks your help I remain attentive to your answers
May 10, 2019 at 22:47
1. No
2. If you don’t have one the answer is no.
May 10, 2019 at 18:46
Hi Sir, We have our interview today, we approved our visa, but in the CEAC sale AP is normal?
May 10, 2019 at 23:06
Did you read the FAQ?
May 10, 2019 at 22:33
Dear Simon
I got a message for KCC requesting me my documents on May 02. Untill now i did not send, i am worring about a little mistake from the birth certificate of my fathers name. They wrote my birth certifcate “Abdirahaman” instead of “Abdirahman” so, can additional “A” for the father’s name in birth certificate, can cause a problem, while all of my other documents matched each other?
Thank you.
May 10, 2019 at 23:20
I don’t know for sure. But you need to decide and get on with it.
May 10, 2019 at 23:30
Hi Brit:
I used a different photo in the first entry with the last year. But the beneficiaries use the same photos. Will that be a problem in the interview?
Thanks.
May 10, 2019 at 23:35
Probably not.
May 11, 2019 at 00:00
Thank you.

Hi
I won the 2020 d v lottery. My case no is2020EU00001XXX. I am going to fill ds260 but confuse on qualification option. I have fill higher level or bachelor level because at that time I’m going to pass out. I wanna ask if you have any new information about people being disqualified for mistake done in qualification last year’s DV lottery?
May 11, 2019 at 00:14
You fill out all your education history accurately back to cover secondary schooling (age around 11 or 12. I have no idea what you are asking about mistake in last year.
May 11, 2019 at 01:41
Hello Brit Simon,
I won my visa last year and relocated to the US in February. However soon after arrival I found out I was pregnant and sadly my boyfriend was left in my home country as when we were applying we were not married. Do you have any ideas on how I can bring him to join me soon for our baby’s sake?
Any advice will be greatly appreciated.
May 11, 2019 at 05:30
You would have to get married, then sponsor him. That would take around 2 years.
