Mr. Brit,
Kudos for all the wonderful inputs.
Sir, want to know if it’s okay to have more than one sponsor.
Thanks.
May 21, 2019 at 17:49
There should be no need. Your sponsor either meets the income requirement or doesn’t. If they don’t, they are useless to your case.

Hello Britson I have visit this website https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/Visa-Reciprocity-and-Civil-Documents-by-Country/Pakistan.html for pcc because I was living in pakistan as a refugee for decades now im in my country Afghanistan the website says : Police Certificates
Unavailable
Comments: Pakistan does not have a nationwide system to track criminal activities. Police Character Certificates are available for a fee from District Coordinating Offices. However, they are not an accurate reflection of an individual’s criminal record. An applicant who has committed a crime in one district may be able to obtain a clean Character Certificate from that district or another. Given the inaccuracy of these certificates, they are not required for consular processing.
Should I Go to pakistan for my pcc ?
May 21, 2019 at 17:53
No. Unavailable means you are not expected to provide it.

Hi Brit,
Hope you are well.
Brit, we are 2019 DV winner and finally received the visa package. However, I will be traveling with less than 6 months passport validity. Is it require for me to renew the passport? If I renew my passport, Is there any effect in immigration if I will be traveling with the old and new passport?
Please advise.
Thank you in advance.
May 21, 2019 at 17:54
No problem, travel with old and new passports.
May 21, 2019 at 18:46

May 21, 2019 at 19:29
Delay submission of your DS260 or documents until later. January interviews are set in November, so you should delay until October/November/December.

Hi Britsimon,
Thank you for your continuous help. I am a green card holder since almost one year ago and i will marry from my home country, Egypt, by next month. I need to accompany my wife with me to US, which visa should I apply for her? and how many months it will take? Appreciating your help.
May 21, 2019 at 19:23
please let me know the fastest method. Thank you.
May 21, 2019 at 19:30
You will marry abroad, and once you return the USA you canstart an I-130 process which takes around 2 years.
May 21, 2019 at 20:08
Is there is any possibility for non immigrant visa?
May 21, 2019 at 20:20
You should discuss that with a lawyer.
May 21, 2019 at 20:40
Thank you so much
May 21, 2019 at 20:53
Hi Sir, the day of our interview we changed our address of arrival, now, a job offer was presented in Atlanta, at the airport can I change the address for the third time? Is there a problem that the person responsible for the new address is in the process of political asylum?
May 21, 2019 at 21:04
Yes you can change at the airport. The asylum case does not matter, but make CERTAIN the address used is someone that will be there and will be trustworthy with your GC. If you lose them, they cost about $500 each to replace.
May 21, 2019 at 21:17
yes, she is my wife’s friend since childhood, and we want to take advantage of the job offer, sir thank you very much for your support once we are in the USA we will make our donation for your great support.
May 24, 2019 at 01:03
I am 70 years old and am selected for the first phase of 2020 diversity visa. Does my age reduce the chances to get an interview and then the visa?
May 24, 2019 at 03:32
It makes no difference to the chance of interview, but you are bound to be asked about your plan to support yourself.
May 24, 2019 at 03:38
Thank you. I already have a tourist visa and plan on visiting US in June and return in August. I have a very low number (400*). Is it ok if I submit DS260 and other documents around August 20th?
May 24, 2019 at 03:47
Yes, but again – how will you answer the public charge requirement?
May 24, 2019 at 03:51
Is it ok if I say that I want to work as a teacher and my son makes enough money so he will support me financially?
May 24, 2019 at 03:56
If your son lives in the USA, he can complete an i134. There is probably some risk.
May 21, 2019 at 21:50
Dear BritSimon,
Thanks for your full time support
Case number 2019AF XX DS260 supporting documents submitted on May 21, 2019 will get The first 2NLs (the interview notification) email after how many days?
Thanks for you usual support
May 21, 2019 at 22:04
Wait and see.
May 21, 2019 at 22:03
Sir Brit,
Thanks for the guidance.
Can I please find out from u whether it is obligatory to be hosted in the house of the person who offers his Affidavit of support document.
May 21, 2019 at 23:04
Not obligatory, no.
May 22, 2019 at 06:23
Thanks Sir Brit.
Address on DS-260 form where GC would be sent differs from that of Sponsor.
That is:
DS260 address differs from sponsor’s, and where we will be residing also differs from GC sending address and the sponsor’s.
1. I hope this will not be an issue.
2. At the interview, which of them should we insist on?
Reason for all this is: We’re a family of 4
1. At the time of completing the DS260, a friend who could only accommodate 1 on of us offered her address.
2. The Sponsor even though has the capacity to host all 4 of us, can only do for only 2 for the start.
3. The last address is ready to take all 4 of us at a go.
Thank u.
May 22, 2019 at 15:40
1. No problem.
2. I don’t understand the question.
May 21, 2019 at 23:05
Hello Brit
modification of the DS 260.
My concern is to know if I am going to change it, have to win a couple but declare a child who is the little brother of my fiancee.
I can modify by removing the child, and say that we are only a couple we had no child?
May 21, 2019 at 23:44
You are not being clear. You mention your fiancee. Derivatives spouses must be legally married, not just engaged. Then you cannot include a brother, as I think you have realized, but it is not clear who won, and whether the entry included the fiancee or the brother of the fiancee. Be more clear.
May 22, 2019 at 05:52
Hello Brit … we were playing the lottery dv 2020, me and my fiancée and the little brother of my fiancee who are 6 years old. like a family. we had to declare this child as ours. and we will be getting married next month, but we want to exclude the child in the procedure. because it will ask us the proof of adoption. is it possible to modify the DS260 in this way? No to included the child but excluded . To put him out . From ours process in that from DS 260. It possible ?
May 22, 2019 at 15:38
I asked who won. Was it you or your fiancee?
Whoever won, did that entry include the spouse (you or your fiancee) and the child?
May 22, 2019 at 20:42
this ma fiancée who has won, but when have had played we had declare a child: 1) we want to remove this child in the form DS 260 because it a little brother of my fiancee …. Maybe they will ask the prof of adoption it will be long for us 2) during the interview they do not go to ask this child? Si I exclude him from the DS 260 3) We are getting married next month will not be a problem?
May 22, 2019 at 21:34
Again, you have failed to answer my question properly and therefore you are WASTING my time.
Last chance. 1 simple question.
DID YOUR FIANCEE INCLUDE YOU AS HER SPOUSE ON THE ENTRY?
May 23, 2019 at 05:26
yes, my fiancée declared me as husband, yes yes. and we will get married in July 2019. but playing we had to declare his little brother of 6 years, like our son. Now I wanted to know if this possible to dismiss him in the DS 260 because his presence may require us to show proof of adoption. 2) if we have dismissed it, in the DS 260, during the interview at the embassy they are not going to ask us this child? why have we didn’t declare him anymore ? 3) as we are getting married in july it will not be bad interpret at the embassy? Thank you Brit
May 23, 2019 at 16:37
OK – the reason I have been asking about whether you are included or not is this.
The rules state that adding a derivative to the application that should not have been listed MAY result in disqualification. So – your fiancee was wrong to list her brother as you now realize but she was ALSO wrong to list you. So – even if you now get married and do not proceed with her brother on the application, there is risk of denial.
If you want to continue (understanding the risk):
You should marry BEFORE you submit the DS260,
Do not continue the application for the brother.
May 23, 2019 at 16:49
if I understand correctly we must get married before submitting the DS260. And in the DS260 if when we going submit this time, without putting the name of his brother, its will not be a problem?
May 23, 2019 at 18:24
PLEASE re-read what I said. What I am suggesting is your best chance, but I am NOT saying it is “not a problem”.
May 23, 2019 at 17:07
Thank you for your response . But I have not submitted the DS 260 application yet. we will get married next month and after the marriage we will submit the DS260. we had been playing entry 2019 like a couple married because we were getting ready to get married this year. we had not yet submitted the DS260. the number box starts with 27 *** it will be when the interview? And for the child could we no longer put him in the form DS260 it will not be a problem?
Thank you
May 23, 2019 at 18:26
About timing – read my recent articles and guide please.

I answered this already. Please stop repeating the question.
May 22, 2019 at 02:03
Hi brit thank u for all the information ..I’m a DV 2020 selectee and I need to know whether it’s ok to submit DS260 form after a month from the date which I got the letter from KCC telling me that I have selected..am I too late or too early????..my case number is 2020As2xxxx.
May 22, 2019 at 02:07
Your case number is unclear – 2000 range or 20000 range?
May 22, 2019 at 12:09
20000 range
May 22, 2019 at 15:29
Is it too high ??will I not get an interview??
May 22, 2019 at 15:55
So you have a long time to wait anyway, and can safely delay sending the DS260 until early 2020.
May 25, 2019 at 17:15
Probably, Are case numbers high in Asia region In this year? because my case number is 2020As14xxx.
May 25, 2019 at 17:16
We have to wait until we know more in a month or two.
May 27, 2019 at 02:03
Thank u for the advice ?
May 22, 2019 at 02:48
Hello Brit.
I am happy about your blog and mailing you.
I’m a 22 aged muslim married a 23 old christian woman who changed to islam. We have no kid and we are still continuing students at same university. I am now doing diploma in business administration and she’s doing a Bachelors in Business Administration.
I listed Makerere University my college.
My few questions are;
1. How much of investigation is done by the Embassy.
2. Shall we be disqualified because of our age or inter religion marriage?
3. Supporting documents are sent after a period of time from the time of ds260 submission?
4. What documents do I have to collect from my sponsor?
5. Incase her financial standings isn’t fine, can I back her up with 10k on my bank account?
6. Is my case number 2020Afxx19XXX very high for this year?
Thank you in advance.
May 22, 2019 at 15:15
1. I won’t be giving you those details. It sounds like a question a dishonest person would ask.
2. No
3. Yes – read the basic questions and FAQ
4. FAQ
5. FAQ
6. No
May 22, 2019 at 02:58
Hi Brit;
Is it possible to start process Dv2018 entrance currently. I checked my status before and it says you are selected
May 22, 2019 at 15:15
DV2018 is over -you cannot process a DV2018 case now.
May 22, 2019 at 04:40
Hello Britt,
I was going through AOS spread sheet. It’s suggested to fill DS260 with intention with AOS. Similarly, I went through cases for AOS 2019 linked in Spreadsheet, I found getting second letter and further GC with out filing DS260. I am trying to understand, if I donot fill DS 260 can I still get second letter considering my CN 2020AS5xxx.
We are currently in nonimmigrant visa, if it is possible for getting 2nd letter without DS 260. I think that would be best since I don’t know the CN is going to be current or not??
Thanks,
May 22, 2019 at 15:22
1. That number will go current (no doubt).
2. The DS260 can be delayed, so that you file the DS260 about the same time as the I-485
3. Filing the DS260 is not 100% necessary for AOS cases, but I believe it reduces delays.
May 22, 2019 at 07:33
Hello Sir.
I am chanaka , I am selected for DV lottery for 2020. My Case number is 2020AS00014xxx,

3. I hope get marriage January of 2020. Is it OK fill ds260 after January of 2020?
May 22, 2019 at 15:42
1. Probably, Yes
2. Too soon to know.
3. Yes
May 25, 2019 at 17:22
1.How many case numbers in this year for Asian region ? how can i know it ?
2. By how can i know it (any website? or something? )
Thank you sir for your time and advises.
May 25, 2019 at 18:10
That has not been published yet – wait.
May 22, 2019 at 11:40
Hi my Date of birth is wrong at the first form at make a problem?
May 22, 2019 at 15:54
Normally no. Correct it in the DS260.
May 22, 2019 at 12:44
I am a Dv selctee of 2020 from Asia. I had stayed for 8 months in Bahrain on the year 2017 and I did not make a Police report during that time.I contacted the concerned authority to produce the police report few days but I am ineligble to apply for Police report as the new rule states that I should have stayed for atleast 2 years. Can you please advise me what I should.
May 22, 2019 at 15:56
What should you do? Read the DV instructions.
May 28, 2019 at 09:23
I read the instructions as u suggested.According to the instruction I do not fall under the criteria to provide Police Certificate as I did not stay there for more than 1 year. But people around me are telling that I will need it.Can you please clear my dilema as whether or not I should prepare the police report.Waiting for your expert advice.
May 28, 2019 at 14:03
You can trust the instructions.
May 22, 2019 at 13:38
The embassy themselves have telephoned me to re-schedule an appointment that was originally booked on 10th June
They are offering a couple of dates which are the earliest, each date a week later i.e. 17th or 24th June (so 24th if not 17th)
I told them I need to check and decide with my spouse and derivatives (mid teens), and they said they themselves will call again.
Checking quickly the two dates they offered clash with exams for the children – both dates they offered
1. What do I do?
2. If I ask for a 3rd date it may well be early July?
Should I under no circumstances go into July – is there a risk / rule with Visa Bulletins /allocations etc. – not sure ?
ITS THE EMBASSY THEMSELVES HAVING TO RE-SCHEDULE, THE ORIGINAL DATE WAS FINE
May 22, 2019 at 16:00
You have visas allocated to your case for the month of June. If you interview in a later month you will introduce a delay and risk. You can discuss it with the embassy and make your decision.
May 22, 2019 at 13:56
Hi Brit.
I am a DV 2020 lottery winner, I dont know how to answer Ds260 for the question- have you ever been arrested or convicted for any offense or crime even thought subject of a pardon amnesty or other action, because 3 years ago i was in a penal case.
I underline that I am never been arrested.
In the low court I was declared Innocent.
After that the prossecutor took my file in the Appeals Court.
In the Appeals Court I was declared Innocent, AGAIN.
My questions after
-Never been arrested and
-Never been convicted
are:
1.Should I write YES to the question or NO ?
2.Do I have to worry about this in the interview ?
Also my Police Certificate is clear.
Thank you.
May 22, 2019 at 16:03
I don’t know the details of your case, so you must answer for yourself. The question I advise you to think about is “arrested”.
May 22, 2019 at 16:58
Hello,
I am student here in United States. I am selected for DV lottery 2020 program. My case number is 2020AS0009***. What do you think about this case number? do you think I have a chance for interview? I am planning to submit DS260 late but what is the last date to apply for DS 260? Also if I fill the DS260 then does it effect my f1 status when I go back to my home country and return back to United States? Also will I still be eligible for OPT after submitting DS260?
Sorry for the many questions..
May 22, 2019 at 17:33
The number is fine. You can look at the lottery guide to understand the process. You must decide whether to process here or via adjustment of status. Don’t submit the DS260 until you are clear on the process. There is no need to rush.
May 22, 2019 at 18:39
Sorry Brit I miss one zero. My Case number is 2020AS00009***. Do you have any idea possible problems on the OPT programs if I fill DS260? I am planning to file DS 260 at January 2020.
May 22, 2019 at 19:17
I don’t know about the impact to OPT, and it would presumably depend on timing plus the method of processing.
May 22, 2019 at 19:30
What do you think about the case number 2020AS00009***, any chances for interview?
Sorry Brit, It can be annoying for you? I am asking because if it is high case number i will not file DS260 instead take OPT in October 2019, if i have to file DS 260 then I need to extend my degree.
May 22, 2019 at 19:38
Again? The number is fine. Take a look at historical numbers. But in any case there is no need or advantage to filing the DS260 before October 2019.
May 22, 2019 at 19:41
Thank you for your precious time.
May 22, 2019 at 18:43
I have been called for an interview with my family
For various reasons which I would rather not go into, or is not relevant here, I am genuinely 50/50 on chances of success
That is how I feel and I won’t know UNTIL I go and attend and they are satisfied.
I do have all the money to pay the Visa Fee and Medicals for the whole family (the medicals are exceptionally exorbitant – about US$ 500 per applicant)
The embassy has already sent a circular email that if medicals are not done, don’t postpone the interview – have the interview, pending medicals and advise the date these are scheduled
The medicals are sent straight to embassy with a minimum 5 day turnaround
As I’m 50/50 about success at interview, I want to” take my chances” and just go to the interview, pay the fee and “pre-book” the medical after – If I succeed at interview but “pending satisfactory medical” than I’ll just proceed with the pre-booking
If I stumble or fail the interview, I will cancel the medical examination (fees which amount to almost US$2500)
US$2,500 is a lot of money to lose to Doctors if the process ‘were’ to fail at interview.
Whilst I have all the money, I don’t want to throw it all away, if the interview doesn’t succeed ?
This way I know
– I passed the interview and paid the fee
– Having passed the interview, I am happy to pay and very likely to pass medical
I’m just trying to mitigate “potential” losses as it is a lot of money to lose if I feel 50/50
May 22, 2019 at 19:26
It sounds like you have decided your plan. So I don’t see a question.
May 22, 2019 at 20:23
Sorry I omitted the question in my explanation which was:-
Q1 – If I am literally 50/50 about interview success (for whatever reasons I may have), isn’t this a wise way to play it,…. with the least financial impact?
Q2 – Is my interpretation of what they say below correct if I do it the way I planned to mitigate the potential financial loss?
It seems they can process the case, and have the interview, even without the medical results (obviously in a pending/ holding position)
I’ve looked up the exact wording from the embassy circular for DV applicants only being processed, which says :-
“You need not be concerned if it is not be possible to obtain a medical appointment before the visa interview appointment date. Attend as scheduled and book the earliest available medical examination date. On the interview date, tell the consular officer the date that your medical examination will take place.”
This way at least I know how the interview has gone, and they may say “all good / accepted…., pending medical examination results”
The least desirable alternative would be to pay US $ 2,500 for the medicals BEFORE appointment and US $1,650 for visas – only to be potentially refused
That would be a very expensive, non refundable US $ 4,150 for a potential refusal
May 22, 2019 at 20:40
1. Possibly. It can also add to the risk depending on timing of the interview and the medical.
2. That varies by embassy. Some will accept the medical later, some will end the interview and tell you to reschedule when you have the medical.
Regarding them saying “all good / accepted…., pending medical examination results” – that may not happen either.
You keep saying refusal is 50/50. Perhaps if you explain what is the concern, I may be able to narrow those odds.
May 22, 2019 at 19:00
Hey Mr Brit, greetings from sunny Dublin. Over the last 3 months I, we have been on a crazy, at times painful applications process. Thanks to your website and of course God, who I happen to believe is Mormon, I have prevailed and been granted a visa. I will write my odd experiences on your website very soon but I have another question for you.
If you had of stayed in the U.K, would you have voted for Brexit? ..(joke….that’s not a real question)
Q1
I need to change the address to which the greencards and social security details are sent, which I will try to change at POE. Should I take the advice of the immigrant pack and pay the immigrant fee before I travel to the U.S in three weeks or wait until I have changed the address at the POE?
Thanks Mr.Brit….ten thousand blessings on you. 😉
May 22, 2019 at 19:29
It doesn’t really matter whether you pay before or after initial entry, although paying before might mean slightly faster delivery of the GC. Just make sure you change the address at the POE, that is your last chance.

Hi there
can you post your experience in Dublin please
Thanks
May 23, 2019 at 00:15
Hi There! I filed my DS 260 when I was selected for further processing and not when my number came up. Is this an issue? I also was living in the US at the time but I have moved back home as my last visa finished. My number will come up for the month of June so should I file my DS260 again or have I completely messed things up?
May 23, 2019 at 01:37
No problem, but you must check that KCC are clear that you need an interview in your home country and that you give them the documents. Contact KCC to check.

Hi Brit,
Thank for all your answers it’s extremely helpful, I have some questions regarding Ds-260:
1- in personal information I’ve mentioned that my father passed away, but in the mother section I got a new question saying your mother has the same address as your father’s ? What should reply yes or no? my father passed away many years ago I was young and we changed city since his death.
2- we just get married me and my fiancé before to fill up the ds 260 so should I select in her address the same as present address or mention other address (her family address )?
3- master degree is considered as university degree or advanced degree ?
4- my wife is a dentist and she doesn’t know which degree she has to choose university or advance degree ?
5- in work experience should I mentioned my internship and my jobs as freelancer ?
Thank you in advance for your help.
May 23, 2019 at 14:07
1. Use some common sense.
2. Married people usually live together.
3. Advanced.
4. Again common sense.
5. You can decide.
May 23, 2019 at 20:30
Thank you for your answer, could you please clarify me another point. I went to two different high school and I got two masters from two different university, so should I write 2 in number of educational institutions or 4 ? I didn’t understand if the ds-260 ask about how many university I attended or how many educational institutions I attended including high school?
Thank you Brit.
May 23, 2019 at 20:52
You have 2 masters degrees and you cannot decide how to count the number of educational institutions you attended??? Can you see the irony?
May 23, 2019 at 20:59
Yeah maybe my question is kind of weird but please could you confirm me the number ?
May 23, 2019 at 21:29
You can count, I’m sure. Educational institutions since secondary school (age around 12).

Hi brit,
My friend has his interview in the same day as ber baccalaureate exam.
Can she reschedule her interview date?
If yes should her contact the KCC or the embassy
?
Thanks.
May 23, 2019 at 16:22
Contact the embassy.
June 6, 2019 at 16:13
Hi Brit, I hope you’re doing well?
So she went to the embassy and they said that they can’t schedule a new interview date for her.
is that normal?
What she can do otherwise? any other solution please?
PS: her interview it’s in Jun 16.
Thanks
June 6, 2019 at 18:16
You must have seen me say 1000 times that rescheduling is a risk. It is. One such risk is the embassy not cooperating. So now, if she misses the DV interview she will need to ask them to rearrange later. Again – that is a risk, but it’s all she can do.

Fervent greetings Brit. I’m Clovis, 2020Af26xxx, is there any chance for me. Secondly, I’m currently living in China and I was told I need a certain certificate and don’t know if it’s a certificate of non conviction or non criminal record or police certificate. I was told,I’ve to do it in China before traveling to my country so that I’ll use it to submit my documents. If you can help to clarify which document is needed among those three ,I’ll be so grateful thanks
May 23, 2019 at 16:38
Your number is fine.
You need to read the instructions, and in particular pay attention to the police certs needed. That is different by country. Read it all.
May 23, 2019 at 10:44
Hi Brit,J
My partner, myself and our baby daughter have our interview scheduled for June.
I read that the medical certificate expires first within 6 months. Whilst the Greencard expires within 12 months once stamped at the airport on arrival. So in theory could you visit the US for a couple of weeks within six months, then return home and not make a permanent move until just under twelve months before the greencard expires. Someone on another forum did this from Australia and this site being the most informative on all things dvlottery related I wanted to double check.
I’m asking as we have a baby daughter so to make this move requires far more planning that if it just were the two of us and we would have a lot of loose ends here back home in Australia to tie up.
May 23, 2019 at 18:03
Your question is a bit unclear. Here are the points.
Your will get a one time immigrant visa after the interview. That visa must be used before the expiry date, which is set as being 6 months after the date of the medical.
Upon entry the visa is endorsed to show as proof of your status, and that endorsement covers up to 1 year after the first entry. However, the actual GC is normally in your hand before the 12 months expire.

May 23, 2019 at 22:10
Thank you Brit for your response.
May 23, 2019 at 10:51
Hi Brit,
My partner, myself and baby daughter are having our interview in June so pending that success a move is looking likely from Australia. That said moving with a baby daughter is not easy and requires a lot of loose ends to be tied up that take time.
I read on another forum someone from Australia too who went over after being selected, stayed for two weeks then came back to Australia and didn’t make their permanent move over until just under 12 months later. Is this possible? I read somewhere it’s the medical that expires after 6 months and the greencard 12 months.
For us it would be ideal as a young family we would need time to really sort things out back here in Australia before making the permanent move.
Thanks again Brit.

Hello!
I have a question for you 🙂 Thank you for this amazing website. I used it alot for information regarding my VISA process.
So – I won the lottery. Had my interview, and got the 6 month visa in my passport. I travelled to the US and got my stamp providing me with permenant residence for 1 year. I paid the greencard fee online, but still only recived my Social Security with the mail, but not the acutal greencard. I payed the fee about 2 months ago. When will I recieve the green card?
As I understand it, i know only have 1 year residence, but no green card? And when and if I recieve that on my US adress, how long is it valid for?
I hope you can help me.
Simon
May 23, 2019 at 18:08
You are a permanent resident. The endorsed visa is a simple proof of that. USCIS can also issue a stamp to further prove it later if needed. However, typically you would get the GC within 3 or 4 months of entry at most.
May 23, 2019 at 12:45
What if my parents name(only spelling) doesnt matches with my birth certificates that i have provided in DS-260 form. can i get visa disqualification with this cause? but my name matches with all documents that i have.
May 23, 2019 at 18:09
No problem.
May 23, 2019 at 13:12
I understand that you say I might have made a mistake. I have redone the form 25times . Its to simple to make a mistake. However it still says invalid info. Is there a link to varify this?
I have checked my wife, daughter and mine and we are all unsuccessful. Its my son inlaws that is the issue. He has very basic names exactly like on the form I printed when I submitted it. Please could you advise?
.
May 23, 2019 at 18:10
What can I advise? Stop making the mistake.
May 23, 2019 at 13:15
Hello Brit:
1.- What is the Alien Registration Number by the Department of Homeland Security?
2.- I came out in the DV2020 lottery but at that time I applied as a single girl, I married on June 11th. Is there a problem if I enter my form after that date as a married woman and add my husband?
3 .- the other thing that is happening to me is that I have two professional titles but in one I am missing the papers where the exact date when I enter but if I have the exit date, what can I do in that case?
May 23, 2019 at 18:12
1. Unless you were living in the USA before you won’t have one.
2. Once you marry, add your husband to your case, creating a DS260 for him also. Read the FAQ.
3. That seems unimportant.
May 23, 2019 at 13:35
Hi Brit,
1. My Case No is 2020AS000097** is it to high number to getting chance of interview.
2. What are the chances of getting 2NL with Work Experience.
3. can I submit DS260 online from on July.
May 23, 2019 at 18:13
1. Wait and see.
2. Education is easier. Read the FAQ about both methods of wualifying.
3. Yes
May 23, 2019 at 18:41
Hi BritSimon,
I am a German citizen currently living in the UK and I have a question regarding the interview location: the location was originally set to London and after contacting KCC and asking them whether I could have the interview in my home country, Germany, they replied that they have changed the location to Frankfurt. They wrote that I should update my new address and they also wrote: “Please note that Post Office Boxes and mailing addresses in care of another person do not justify a change of interview location”.
My questions now is: can I have my interview in Germany even though I do not live there?
And would they accept an address of a family member?
The reason why I would like my interview to take place is in Germany is 1. that I have family there and 2. because I would feel more comfortable there and would not need to get my school degree translated.
I have contacted KCC about this already but they do not really provide me with any helpful answers and just seem to be copy pasting what they already wrote to me in the original email.
Thank you, your help and this whole website is much appreciated.
Kind regards,
Nina
May 23, 2019 at 18:58
You would normally have an interview in the residence country. Your reasons are not really compelling in any way, so it is simply based on what you prefer. KCC are not concerned with what you prefer, which is why they are asking you to justify the change.
May 23, 2019 at 19:41
You will need your documents translated anyways
May 23, 2019 at 20:48
@Yo. That is incorrect.
May 23, 2019 at 22:21
Wow, why? in my case we won in SA (Venezuela) but the interview will be in London, so if I had the interview in Venezuela we would not need to translate the documents? But since it is going to be in UK I will need to be translated…?
May 23, 2019 at 22:41
If you read the original question properly you would see that the motivation of changing the interview to Germany was to avoid the need to translate. You do not need to translate German documents in a German speaking country. Or Spanish documents in a Spanish speaking country…
May 27, 2019 at 01:18
I was in the same situation with different countries and I got the same reply from kcc
My Interview scheduled in my home country as requested from kcc
I am didn’t open my ds260 to change my current address to my home country
So I think you will have the Same scenario
May 23, 2019 at 19:06
Hey Brit
A friend of mine won 2020 but she’s a single mother( she doesn’t know the where about a of the guy). Will she be required the consent from the baby daddy? And what can her do?
May 23, 2019 at 20:46
It depends on laws in her country. If the father is on the birth certificate, he may have parental rights and the US embassy might want assurance that she has the right to take the child out of the country.
May 23, 2019 at 19:30
Hello Brit, I’m glad to have come in contact with ur page. It has been very helpful I must say. I’m a 2020 winner with CN AF10xxx. I have started filling the form DS260 and on the place for address I have written down my present address. However, I will be moving to a different location in the same town by August. Should I simply write the address of my future location or leave it as it is? I intend submitting the form in June.
May 23, 2019 at 20:48
It doesn’t really mater – you can update once you have moved.
May 24, 2019 at 01:14
Hello Brit first thank you for your effort. My case number is (2020AF41***) and i have 4 questions:
1- When i registred for the DV 2020, i putted that I have a university degree knowing that i will have that degree in end of june 2019, do you think that it will be a problem knowing that i will hold the DS260 till i get this degre then submit ?
2- When i registred i putted that i am single but now i plan to get married in the end of june 2019, do you think that i will cause refusal ?
3- Basic on my case number do you think that the end of june is a good time to submit the DS260 ?
4- what about my case number, if there any chance to get interview ?
Thanks very much for your time
May 24, 2019 at 03:34
1. Wait to submit.
2. No problem if the marriage is real.
3. Too early.
4.wait and see.
May 24, 2019 at 02:23
My case number is 2020AS48** is my number safe to be interview?

May 24, 2019 at 03:12
where should I put my confimation number
May 24, 2019 at 03:45
How can I answer such a vague question.
May 24, 2019 at 03:21
and birth certificate with translation will take about one week
May 24, 2019 at 04:14
Hey Brit,
thank you so much again for all this.
Case Number: EU24XXX
1) I was filling the DS260 and I was wandering if I should enter both (education and work experience) requirements or just one, specifically in the question about my primary occupation, can I consider my bachelor degree as a 2 years of training and experience? on the O NET website says “SVP Range (7.0 to < 8.0)" for a very similar occupation.
2) My O1 visa is expiring in July 2020 and my lawyer suggested to extend it, as you probably know is a pretty expensive process, do you suggest to just go back to Italy if my number is not current by June and wait there for the interview or would you consider a renewal?
Best,
Leo
May 24, 2019 at 04:35
Stop completing the ds260. You shouldn’t do that yet. Take some time to learn more and decide how to process. Aos is probably an option and you may become current in time to adjust status. No need to use the lawyer.
May 24, 2019 at 06:27
Hello brit, “trump signs memorandum requiring immigrant sponsors to pay for social services.”
What is the impact our DV process ?
May 24, 2019 at 14:07
Nothing.
May 24, 2019 at 08:53
Dear at submission I didn’t understand the question well I born in Saudi Arabia and I’m living there
But I put my eligibility country Somalia.. I’m AF 40xxx.. Is it safe to go interview in Saudi Arabia AS.?
Other questions I’m from the banned countries is it OK to submit or no use to go forward.?
May 24, 2019 at 14:18
If you were born in SA, why did you say you were chargeable to Somalia? Unless you were married at the time of entry to someone from Somalia, that answer was wrong, and you are certain to be disqualified, wherever you interview.
May 24, 2019 at 09:36
Hello
We will be attending the US Consulate in Sydney next week for interview, but we are wondering if we should pay the fees in cash or it is possible to pay by credit card at the Consulate. Please answer me if you have any information in this regards. Thanks
May 24, 2019 at 14:19
I don’t know. Ask here:
https://forums.immigration.com/threads/dv-2019-oceania-selectees.337771
May 25, 2019 at 01:45
I paid in cash but you can also pay by credit card but there was some side note something about signature and pin so I chose cash even I had my credit card with me. EFTPOS (debit card) is not accepted.
