Hello sir! Thank you for a great website filled with impressive amount of information. 2020 winner, my case number is 2020EU25*** (don’t know if it is high).
I would be grateful to you if you answer following question:
There was a mistake in first entrance (dv2020) my flat number is mentioned as 17. But as I found later when I won it is 19. Is it a big deal? Thank you in advance.
June 1, 2019 at 18:34
Not a problem. The number is quite high – you will wait around 1 year.
June 2, 2019 at 06:55
Thank you!
I’m okay to wait since my papers are done already.
June 1, 2019 at 17:20
Dear Brit! Thank you for your work!
The qustion is: my ex-wife won the lottery. She referred to me as a spouse in her application. We live together, we have common child, but we are legally divorced. It is strange, i know. But still
Do we have a chance to move? Does she and our child have a chance to move to the US?
June 1, 2019 at 18:35
She lied on the original entry then. That isn’t good, and could cause disqualification.
June 1, 2019 at 18:14
Hello Brit,
Want to know if on the DV application was using the middle name and the middle name is not appear on any of my documents due to in my country we don’t use middle name.is it a problem? or once i full fill the DS-260 i can change and use first and the surname only as it is on my documents .
June 1, 2019 at 18:38
On the DS260 you list the full legal name as shown in the passport and birth cert. Just do that.
June 2, 2019 at 00:33
Hi Brit.
I want to understand weather hepitatis B, in short(HB virus) can lead to denial of Dv applicant.
June 2, 2019 at 01:36
You should read the FAQ then.
June 2, 2019 at 00:36
What happens when a LPR couple divorce before naturalization? With two children under 18 yrs of age. Both parents with same citizenship.
June 2, 2019 at 01:37
I only answer DV lottery questions.
June 2, 2019 at 03:02
No problem, thank you for your reply. I do follow your blog, you are a source of knowledge.
June 2, 2019 at 02:12
my brother-in-law was pre-selected in DV 2020, but applied with a photo of January 2018, the same one he used for the tourist visa, can this be a problem?
June 2, 2019 at 02:28
Probably not.
June 2, 2019 at 07:36
Sir,
I read the comment about registering online for appointment in the embassy. What does it mean if you are current we need to register online for the embassy??
June 2, 2019 at 14:37
Turan, come on. How many times have you seen me write “read the instructions”? Have you read the instructions including instructions specific to your embassy???
June 2, 2019 at 11:59
Hello once again! Two questions more:
1) already submitted DS-260 form, today they added social media info, which steps should I take next?
2) I have a high school diploma, which one should be mentioned? Academic or vocational? As I putted academic.
Thank you.
June 2, 2019 at 14:57
1. Nothing. If you unlock in the future you will then answer the questions.
2. The accurate one.
June 2, 2019 at 12:29
Hello Brit,
Once again here to ask you more questions:
1) I already submitted DS-260 form they added social media info what should I do now?
2) At DS-260 form for present address I wrote xxx(same country where i was born but not city) and from which date i added December 2015( bcz my agent suggested that we should write after 16 of age) but i completed my academics in April 2016 from xxx can they ask me how u complete your academic within four months?
3) Was it necessary to write after 16 if then why?
4) Can i get in trouble?
June 2, 2019 at 15:00
1. Nothing. If you unlock in the future you will then answer the questions.
2. If you unlock the form at some point correct that.
3. No it wasn’t necessary. You are taking advice from an idiot.
4. Not for that.
June 2, 2019 at 16:46
Hi Brit,
I’m a 2019 winner and going to submit my AOS application within this week. I got huge help from the forum. Just wanted to ask you do you think I’ll have enough time to get this done before end of September? Looking at the timeline for 2018 I feel like I might have enough time. What do you think ?
June 2, 2019 at 17:01
Probably. Get on with it – you could have submitted from May 14 at the latest, so stop procrastinating.
June 2, 2019 at 17:06
Honesty I was afraid about early filing rejection. Anyway I will do it within this week may be on Tuesday
June 2, 2019 at 17:52
Well you cost yourself 3 weeks for no good reason.
June 2, 2019 at 17:10
Brit one more thing. I saw your post on July interviews are settled. Is this true for AOS as well ?
June 2, 2019 at 17:51

June 4, 2019 at 11:16
Some of you really don’t take the time and read the entire FAQ huh? i mean, when i first discovered this site, that’s literally the first thing i did before asking questions.
June 4, 2019 at 11:18
where new to this
June 2, 2019 at 19:36
Hello Brit,
first of all thank you for your amazing work, I found lots of useful information here ??.
My visa has been approved and I will activate it in July. So far I used the address of a friend of mine. The problem that I have is that it is a UPS store mailbox address and I couldn’t find out if it will work with the new procedure and the USPS form.
Do you have any idea?
Thank you
Melanie
June 2, 2019 at 21:02
It needs to be a real address.
June 2, 2019 at 19:44
Hi britsimom I like to ask you one question,
In my Ds260 form I filled yes, under is your
Spouse immigrant with you.
But now I changed my mind.i want her to come later.what should I do.can I summit
Only my supporting documents.10ks
June 2, 2019 at 21:04
Do you understand that you will spend two years and more money on the later process?
If you want to do that, contact KCC so that they realize yours are the only documents to be sent.
June 2, 2019 at 22:37
dear Britt,
We are happy to announce that our visas have been granted (Interview done in Amsterdam).
Thank you so much for all your assistance.
We have two quick questions:
1. the entrance limit day is 6 months from the day the medical test was conducted correct?
2. In order to pay for the green card fees to the government. We can use any credit card?
It says only US credit cards, but this does not mean is has to be issued in the US but a “Visa” for example issued from anywhere in the world will be OK? thank you!
June 3, 2019 at 01:12
1. The exiry date is on the visa when you get that.
2. Nu. A US billing address.
June 3, 2019 at 02:38
Hi Brit,
I am a 2019 Dv winner and am now in The US but my fiance is still back home in Africa and our plan is for him to come after completing his university degree which should be in 2years time. my question is how best could we work for him to have his green card ready so he could join me?
Is it through marriage?
And if is through marriage when should be the best time for us to get married so he could easily get his papers?
Also he wants to sit an exam in the US next year is there anything i could do to increase his chance of having a visa?
June 3, 2019 at 03:13
Marry asap, then file an I-130 process – which takes about 2 years.
June 4, 2019 at 01:16
Thanks Brit

June 3, 2019 at 07:11
Hi Brit,
Is September too late to submit DS 260 if the case number is 2020AS000063XX?
June 3, 2019 at 13:56
No.
June 3, 2019 at 07:28
Do you think that unlocking DS260 (completed on the 15th of May) and adding social media info is a good idea? I think it might help to process the documents faster…
June 3, 2019 at 13:57
Up to you.
June 3, 2019 at 13:57
Overprepare.

June 3, 2019 at 15:59
Hi Simon – do I include my admission to the New York bar and NSW AU bar in the section regarding education or does this just apply to universities? And if so, how would I input that info? Thanks!!
June 3, 2019 at 18:28
Not in the education section, perhaps professional memberships.
July 19, 2019 at 14:49
Hi Simon – very delayed response – where would the Professional Memberships section be? I can’t seem to locate (!). Thanks!
July 19, 2019 at 20:02
It’s in the additional work/education/training section, a question that asks about professional/charitable/social organizations.
June 3, 2019 at 16:42
Mr.Brit
In Transit”
This status is shown for a brief period when KCC has scheduled the interview, and transferred the case to the embassy. However, the embassy has not yet updated CEAC to acknowledge they have received the case.
2019AS105**
30th may email from KCC about documents received.
So my question is can we get the status update in transit 2nl before 16th( 2nls)? whenever the KCC has scheduled the interview. because logic is if i got 2nl then ofc i ve been scheduled interview, but maybe they will update website days before and then 2nl will come from 16th.you understood right?
June 3, 2019 at 20:09
No – it only shows after 2NLs are sent.
June 3, 2019 at 19:24
Hi brit,
I just wanted to know wen can we see an update in da ceac data…I cuecoes but it has not been updated yet..
Thank u
June 3, 2019 at 20:01

FOR DV2020 Asia Region Selectees
=================================
Heard CS number ranges – 2xxx to 30xxx
According to conclusion of the analysis we can come up with few predictions about no. of selectees for AS region.
01. compared to other FY’s this year might be a over selected year. (maybe due to the affected travel ban or the new procedure they following)
OR
02. compared to other FY’s this year might be have more holes.
This is just a prediction, however let’s “wait and see – ©Brit” what happen in this year. 🙂
June 3, 2019 at 21:50
You cannot predict anything without know the selectee counts. Let’s say you know there are case numbers from AS1 to AS31000. How many cases are in that range? The answer is NOT 31000, there are holes. How many holes – we don’t know. We will only know more when we see the selectee count, and even that will not be the whole story.
June 4, 2019 at 00:41
You are correct brit.
June 3, 2019 at 20:29
Hi Brit,
I’m facing a big problem
Please help me. I’m a 2018 DV lottery winner and came to USA last January 2019. My son was born in my country after I received my visa. So he came to USA without a visa and he received a visa for one year when we were arrived to JFK airport. After we realised There is no Alien number in his visa stamp and now he can’t apply for health insurance,SSC card, all are rejected. So I called USCIS a lot of times to ask about his A number and went to USCIS New York field Office three times. Two times they said my son will receive his green card as soon. I asked do I need to pay for his green card they said no. So I was waiting 5 months. Last time I went to ask USCIS and they said this a mistake done by JFK airport and they said go and ask from JFK. So I went there. JFK immigration officers said they can’t do anything go back to USCIS. I called again USCIS but they didn’t give me a good answer. My son can’t do anything without Alien number. Please Brit help me. What should I do now? Where do I go to solve this problem?
Thank you.
June 3, 2019 at 21:51
Only USCIS can solve this. Make an appointment to go and see them in person.
June 4, 2019 at 20:43
Hi Brit,
I went USCIS New York Office 3 times. They said me to wait until September and come back time to time look about green card. I called them again last week. So they said me to fill I-130 form to get an Alien number. Is it correct information Brit? Please give me an advice. Thank you.
June 4, 2019 at 21:55
No I don’t think so, but maybe you should get a lawyer to sort this out because you are not making any progress.
June 5, 2019 at 12:50
Ok Thank you Brit for your kind help.
June 3, 2019 at 20:33
Hello brit
I’m from country that’s included in the travel ban. I’m selected in the 2020 dv lottery and my uncle had us passport and i’ a doctor. Does this give me any chance of success and get visa according to your experience
Thank you
June 3, 2019 at 21:52
No. neither your profession nor relatives make any difference.
June 3, 2019 at 20:53
Hi… Recently it became a suffer to scrap numbers cause along the way you’re facing many scheduled CNs higher than you, that said, i analysed the july2lns.cvs & found 0 algerians scheduled (eve though <12 were scheduled), i i d the same for the june2ls.cvs & found 160 scheduled Algerians (for Sundays and Mondays of june when before dvCases were taken Monday only), so, do you think this high june scheduling is the cause for lowering it for July ? Also i noticed algerians are the only ones that received a 2nd confirmation at the same time. {Big thanks}
June 3, 2019 at 21:55
I don’t think there is a question in there that I can answer.
June 4, 2019 at 00:38
Hi Brit,
will KCC get a chance to process your DS260 if you have submitted in May?
June 4, 2019 at 01:43
Probably.
June 4, 2019 at 03:31
Mr.Brit
I need an answer to relieve myself.
so Documents received email 30th may, AS105**
Do you think i will get 2nls this june?
is not too late right?
Please don’t answer probably lol
June 4, 2019 at 03:58
You should relieve yourself, it’s not good to have a full bladder.
As for the other question. Patience.
June 4, 2019 at 05:25
Hi brit, i was born in Indonesia but currently residing in canada with a student visa. If my interview was to be in Canada, would it be fine if my bank statement is from an Indonesian bank and in Indonesian rupiah?
June 4, 2019 at 05:27
Well that makes it a little less easy to understand/value. Why would you introduce a risk you don’t need?
June 4, 2019 at 09:44
So the bank statement that i show to the CO should be from a canadian bank and in canadian dollars?
June 4, 2019 at 18:40
Use your judgement on what would appear best.
June 4, 2019 at 05:36
Hi Brit,
I am living in indonesia. What currency account prefer to show to the embassy in interview, is it better to show in usd account or local account is okay?
Thank you so much.

June 4, 2019 at 07:19
Hi I’m trying to figure out when and if the dv application I have will work. The cn is 2020AF63XXX. I’m wondering if this is too high and if it will disqualify my application due to the high number. If I was to get it though when should I expect An interview. I sent my ds-260 on May 9 the same day I found out I got the DV. Please respond back for any info.
June 4, 2019 at 18:19
That number may be too high. It is too early to know for sure, so I suggest you be patient until we know the number of selectees (within a month or two). In any case it is certain that you would not be interviewed before summer 2020 – so there is no need to rush.
June 4, 2019 at 07:59
City A – Where i am lives in Weekends (My Home)
City B – Where i am lives in Weekdays (Temporary Lives from 4 years – rented place)
Hi Brit,
Currently i’m working in City B and due to the transportation issues in a rented house from 4 years now.
But my actual home was located in City A. (permanent address). do i need to enter both the addresses in Present and past addresses when filling DS260? because in City B it has no bond to me just only renting out.
When entering what would be the present and previous address? because i’m living both the locations in week.
Thanks.
June 4, 2019 at 18:21
City A is your address.
June 4, 2019 at 08:25
Hello Simon,
Can you please help me find all last CEAC data sheets for all years from 2013-onwards.
I need it for my statistic on highest CN, derivative rate, density etc. Just EU region.

June 4, 2019 at 11:25

June 4, 2019 at 18:39
Your interview is scheduled. They probably won’t unlock your form now, so any changes should be made at the interview.

my new sponsor send me welcome letter on may 20 and all supporting documents were on may 10 will be any problem date of documents cuz my interview has been scheduled for June 19.

It is too soon to know when your number will get a chance (I assume it is 2020AS95XX).
If you plan to process via adjustment of status, the DS260 is helpful but I recommend you do not submit it yet. Wait until we know more.
June 5, 2019 at 05:49
Hello sir ,
Thanking you for giving me your advice .

June 4, 2019 at 10:27
Hi Brit,
I need your advice.
I am selected for dv 2019.
Case EU27xxx.
I sent ds260 06.08.2018.(after wedding like you advised).
I sent documents 14.05.2019. Like you advised.
I recieved mail that my ds260 is completed processing and to send my documents on 23.05. And i resend it just in case of procedure.
But noticed in my ds260 that when they asked did i used another name (religious ,maritial and etc) i said no but what they ment is name before marriage which i did change. I changed last name. In ds 260 I wrote new last name as they asked so only mistake is my answer no.
I expect confirmation that my documents are ok (havent recieved it yet).
Should I wait when they schedule interview and than ask to unlock ds260 and than change it or i can do that on interview?
Or should i do it know?
Or do nothing?
Thank you for everything that you do here!
June 4, 2019 at 18:54
Change the name at interview. It is too late to change it now, and you would not want to cause a delay in this “oddball” year.
June 4, 2019 at 11:06
Hlo Brit, been scrapping and i hav a qtn…
NRB has alot of ready cases and im hoping i will be scheduled thr too
1
Do u think i stand a chance fr an interview, CN 2019AF39***

NB I got the ready fr schedule mail 7th may.
June 4, 2019 at 18:55
I can’t guess the chance for yours or any particular case.
June 4, 2019 at 11:16
Hello simon am from Kenya.. is affidavit of support needed when someone is single? how will i know if it required during interview? thanks for the help
June 4, 2019 at 18:56
Not for only married couples. Success depends on you being prepared, even being overprepared.
June 4, 2019 at 11:24
Hi Aravindh so it’s ok to change sponsor at interview can that cause worries because I did changed sponsor on may 2 ??
June 4, 2019 at 15:47
Hi nickchettri,
If they unlocked and submitted seems that is okay. you can change your US living location and GC delivery location at your interview (what you submitted on DS260). however, you should take I-134 affidavit of support filled by your US permanent resident/citizen and all required documents to your interview.
Some embassies have their prerequisites prior to the interview. refer your consular office website for more informations.
Mr. Symon was wrote a series of articles about sponsorship (affidavit of support) and DS-260 related FAQs go read and follow the instructions. that’s all.
June 5, 2019 at 06:49
Hi Aravindh
Actually I did change my sponsor on may 2 but after that I need to again change new sponsor because he need to go for transfer to another city by his profession so that I did collect i-134 affidavit of support
And all supporting documents from my sponsor but in ds260 form my former sponsor details is still there.so will they going to change new sponsor in interview as per Mr. Britsimon sir I’m going to change new sponsor at interview. So hope everything will be fine
June 5, 2019 at 07:38
Great! GOOD LUCK for your interview. hope you shares your experience with all of us after the interview.
June 5, 2019 at 10:22
Sure and thank you so much ?
June 4, 2019 at 11:32
Hi Brit!! I am 2019 winner and I am scheduled for interview in june. Actually, its been a year my sponsor is married and he is trying to take his wife. My question is that “Can he still sponsor me?”
June 4, 2019 at 18:57
If he has submitted an I-864 for his wife, I suggest you get a different sponsor.
June 5, 2019 at 09:43

That could vary by embassy. Read the instructions, including specific instructions for your embassy.

Hi brit, my sister has won the dv lottery 2020. Concerning the educational requirement, she has a high school certificate where the results for Science subject was cancelled and she also failed in Mathematics. I want to know if she can still submit the certificate and succeed in the interview?

That doesn’t sound too good. Ultimately the educational requirement varies by embassy, but it sounds like she would not meet the requirement in most embassies.

Hello Brit, We got our DV visa last week. Iam the main applicant, husband and two kids under 9. My questions are:
1)May I enter the US together with my husband without kids for now and then get back alone to my country a week after?
2) Then travel back to US with my kids before their visa gets expired?

1. Yes
2. Yes

Dear Brit,
My case number is 2020AS00006XXX
I will be moving to a new country for studies in August. Not confirmed yet. Waiting for visa. Do you think it will be too late if I submit DS 260 in August? Because I don’t have the new address still. If student visa is approved I can put the new country as Interview location and if not I can fil my current country for interview. All this will confirmed by end of July.

Dear Simon, thank you for all your help.
I just wish I knew about your site prior to filing my ds260 form. Its only now that I realized I might have made a huge mistake as stupid as it might sound, in the “work/experience” category.
I went for Grad school in the US and was on OPT, I interned at a small firm (i interned there the previous summer as well) as a buffer to find a job and a sponsor. I did mention I interned there in 2016 but have not mentioned i interned there before my last job in the US. Also, I do not remember the exact dates of starting the internship in 2017(that should not be a problem i can contact the firm and double check). Should I contact the KCC and request an unlock or an internship isnt considered a threat to my file? Since i had not received any pay stubs the second time i interned there, i didnt mention it. However i did mention the previous one since i did in fact receive a paycheck and filed for taxes. I am lost, I dont know what to do. When i first checked the status I was super ecstatic and thought I had to file it ASAP!
My case number is high in the AS region so i am guessing I still have time to change if URGENT, fingers crossed.
Thanks a million!

I doubt that will be a problem.

Laika Miracle
Records indicate you have submitted a complete and valid DS-260 application for each family member, and you have provided all required documentation to the Kentucky Consular Center.
Is this one scheduling mail ? can you tell any other post relevant to this.

That just confirms your documents are processed, so you can be scheduled.
