Hello Sir,
I was asked to submit further documents after my interview which i did and my case status on the CEAC page now shows ISSUED. I don’t know when the embassy will call for me to come up the visa and i traveled to another city already.
my worry is if i miss the day and time they ask me to pick it up can it pose any problems getting my passport with visa?
June 7, 2019 at 21:12
No.
June 9, 2019 at 21:20

Dear brit tnx fr ur replys
I resend my documents as u said and told me its valid and accepted month ago and my case is AF28xxx and case number higher than mine has been scheduled for interview so my question is
1- am i being passed for my delayed submiting of documents?

3-what do u recommend my next move should be
Tnx for all ur supports. It does help me a lot
June 7, 2019 at 23:40
So presumably you were too late to be schedule last month, so now you would expect to get scheduled in the next batch (August interviews). Sooooo… wait.
June 8, 2019 at 01:00

June 11, 2019 at 02:06
Please contact me 0912473082, I have the same case
June 8, 2019 at 11:06
Hello Brit. In DS260 has the following question: Work / Education / Training Information: “Have you attendant any educational institutions?”. I answered YES and added information only about medical degree at University (I really thought that the question was about higher education.)
Do I have to unlock the d’s 260 to add information about upper secondary education?
June 8, 2019 at 13:46
Yes unlock. Add all schools from 12 years old.
June 8, 2019 at 13:42
Pls sir am impressed with the help you are offering to the public. I received a mail to submit documents in march but I submitted on 4th may. Two days after I received a ready for schedule email but I have not been scheduled. Pls sir when do you think my interview can be scheduled.am AF21XXX .
June 8, 2019 at 13:52
You might get a 2NL later this month for August interview.
June 8, 2019 at 14:12
Hi Sir, A friend had his interview on June 6, the CEAC status appears on ready should there be a problem with that?
June 8, 2019 at 14:49
Patience.
June 8, 2019 at 14:40
Good morning we had the interview in Montevideo on June 4th. All right, the co said that the visas are approved. However, in
CEAC status says ready since then. On Friday the 7th I updated the date of the last case udpdated. still in ready. Do you think there is a problem with that?
June 8, 2019 at 14:51
Be patient.
June 8, 2019 at 14:57
thanks for answering … from which day I have to worry that it is still ready? if the interview was on June 4
June 8, 2019 at 14:52
Thanks for answer. May I ask. My documents were checked on May 22nd. And I am waiting my interview for August. After unlocking the d’s 260
1. Will my interview be in August
2. I will have to send scan documents again.
This is considered a big mistake.
Is it possible to make these changes during the interview
June 8, 2019 at 15:00
You have left this very late to sort out then!!!
You need to decide what to do. Either unlock and correct or prove everything at the interview. Your choice.
June 8, 2019 at 15:44
What is the minimum annual salary with tax paid sponser

June 8, 2019 at 15:53
Thank you. In ds, I wrote employment for the last 3 years. I indecated 11 years of study and practice in a medical university.
Come to think of it, I could not go to university without a high school diploma.Of course in the interview I will take this certificate and I hope that everything will be fine
June 8, 2019 at 16:15
You can attend university without their definition of HS completion (formal course of study). So, go prepared to prove everything, just in case your CO is picky.
June 8, 2019 at 15:54
Hello Brit yesterday was our interview the officer told us that he was going to approve it but it is still in ceac that is in administrative process. It is normal. Thank you Brit
June 8, 2019 at 16:16
Did you read the FAQ about that?
June 8, 2019 at 16:53
Dear Simon
What happen if we lost confirmation page of DS260?
Thanks in advance
June 8, 2019 at 17:43
You can print another copy. You should be able to get to the confirmation page of your DS without unlocking.
June 8, 2019 at 19:39
You can go back in to review the DS260 and reprint it.
June 8, 2019 at 17:45
Hi Brit, a friend of mine also won the dv 2019, she traveled to an Arab country before and was deported without being in prison or taken to a court but she can’t seem to get a proof of deportation from the country. Will she be refused visa? Please will be waiting for your reply. Thanks
June 8, 2019 at 19:41
I don’t know.
June 8, 2019 at 18:18
I made a mistake with my date of birth in this initial process. Can I further send KCC an affidavit to support my date of birth even though they havent requested for it or should I wait to carry it along when scheduled for an interview
June 8, 2019 at 19:45
If you entered the correct info in the DS260 you can continue the process. If that is the ONLY problem and there are no fraud concerns, you should be OK.
June 8, 2019 at 18:49
Hi Brit, Thanks for all your kind helps.
I am selected for dv 2019. I wrote my surname Samusia with an extra letter “i” (Samusa is in my pasport) at initial registration of dv program. Later on, I wrote correct surname – Samusa at DS-260 form.
1) How can I fix this problem?
2) Do I need to contact KCC and ask for re-correct my surname from Samuisa to Samusa?
What do you suggest, let me know please. My case is EU8***, DS-260 submitted, documents are not submitted yet.
Thanks
June 8, 2019 at 19:49
1. You did. The DS260 was the important bit.
2. No.
June 8, 2019 at 21:18
Hi Brit, thanks again our visas have been issued. Now that’s time to make our schedule. We plan to move in mid-October. Our oldest daughter is 5 and would miss a few months of school.
-when can she starts school? Immediately after activating her LPR status?
-is it a big issue if she misses 2 months? I mean would it invalidate her K-5?
I have not seen any FAQ regarding schools, sorry if I missed it.
June 8, 2019 at 21:25
She can start immediately, even if it’s a partial year.
June 8, 2019 at 22:24
Hi Simon
Not sure if came across the following link before – its very useful showing the DV visa issued from 2009-2018 and interesting data for example in Iran visa from 2017 to 2018
https://travel.state.gov/content/dam/visas/Statistics/AnnualReports/FY2018AnnualReport/FY18AnnualReport%20-%20TableVII.pdf
June 8, 2019 at 22:56
Yep – I use the annual reports.
June 9, 2019 at 19:23
Hi Simon
1-So do these number represent actual case numbers issued rather than total selectees?
2-Is this is how we get derivative rate? by dividing total selectees per region (from VB) / case number issues (from annual report)
June 9, 2019 at 20:04
1. Visas issued means one per person (be it a selectee or derivative).
2. No. We get the derivative rate in a number of others ways. Read this for better understanding: https://britsimonsays.com/2016-analysis-derivative-growth-rate/

Dear Brit
My Mother won the lottery a month ago in her case just my father is included not me. I am 20 years old now, can my mother add me in her case now? can she add me in filling of DS-260??
please let me know, we have not submitted the DS-260 form yet.
June 9, 2019 at 15:02
Your mother should have included all derivatives she had at the time of entry on the entry form. If she didn’t she will be disqualified.

Yes your visa has been sent back to KCC. So when they are finished with AP there will be a further delay while they ask KCC to reallocate a visa.

June 9, 2019 at 18:25
Sir,
For instance while entering DV for a person who has a child but does not know where he is and knowing to list him during entering is compulsory if you do not have his picture what should you do?
June 9, 2019 at 20:00
Simple solution. Don’t enter the lottery.

long does it take?

June 9, 2019 at 20:46
Hi sir there are more new visas for As region in dv 2019
June 9, 2019 at 21:41
There are enough visas.
June 9, 2019 at 22:49
Hello Mr Simon, I have one quick question. Today we had our interview in Cairo Embassy and the consular approved our visas and gave us a white paper with congratulations and some instructions and useful links. I just now remembered that there should have been also a sealed envelope for the US custom service, which we didn’t receive. Does this usually happen, is it being sent with passports via delivery services or shall i call the embassy? what are the consequences of not having that envelope? Thanks in advance
June 9, 2019 at 22:58
That will come later along with your passports. Relax.
June 10, 2019 at 08:34
Such a relief! Thank you for all your guidance and support!
June 9, 2019 at 23:28

Hello Brit,
I’m a winner from Af DV2020 I’ve some questions about sponsoring:
1/Must the sponsor be one of the family or the friends? or it’s okay to be anyone?
2/What will the sponsor do with form I-864? to whom will submit it?
3/ Is there any taxes or tariffs to pay to the US government for the immigrant?
4/ Must the immigrant go to the sponsor or not?
5/ Is there any other option if someone does not find a sponsor?
Thank you for everything you did to us,
June 10, 2019 at 00:12
The FAQ covers this.

June 10, 2019 at 07:07
Hi brit
I have go through your D260 as per the guidelines you mention to wait for these case number (my case number 2020AS20XXX) can I submit the DS 260 now.
Thank you
June 10, 2019 at 17:07
You can submit whenever you want, but clearly there is no need to submit your DS260 within the next few months as you will, in any case, be waiting until 2020 because of your case number. I would advise you to wait for a few months.
https://britsimonsays.com/dv2020-dont-submit-ds260-until-you-read-this/
June 10, 2019 at 07:55
Hey simons !
Regards!
I am sorry if you have already answered this question somewhere, but I couldn’t find any so I am going to ask you here!
It is known that every year lottery winner especially in Nepal and Egypt are more than the 7% barrier or around that 7% barrier i.e. 3500! But I have seen in many cases people who win lottery nowadays, have 1 or more than 1 derivatives.
For now let us consider that 500 among them get disqualified and 30% of total remaining lottery winner i.e. 3000 have 1 derivative (people have 1 wife and 2 child, let’s take wife only for example). Which is equal to 900 extra people.
So if Nepal and Egypt goes on current the total visas that should be issued is =3000+900=3900
Which is very unlikely to happen! But Nepal has gone on current many times, and taking two months in hand there is a probably of going current this year too!!
HOW CAN BE POSSIBLE?
Don’t you think they already count derivatives too when they count the winner and publish the result?
June 10, 2019 at 17:09
Yes. Selectee numbers published include derivatives. If you had read any of my FAQ or various articles you would already know that.
June 10, 2019 at 10:10
Dear Sir! I have a question. I won a DV2019 and I’ve already submitted my initial application. A worried question is that I have a problem with an email I provided during my initial application and I cannot access it anymore, so is there a solution for problem?
June 10, 2019 at 17:19
You don’t need anything from that email account.
June 10, 2019 at 10:11
Mr. simon,
My sister is a 2019 dvllottery winner . Her number is AS201911xxx . she was the Principal applcant.
She already sent docs on end of MAY and got feed back confirmation from KCC and waiting for 2NL
In 6 yrs ago, her husband overstayed in US . He was studeid there. After OPT ,some reasons he unable to find a job . At last, he was overstayed two and half months (nearly 65 days) ,now they lived in home country.
Question is , would it be a problem to them at the interview ? They nerver fall into three to ten bar anymore. Isn’t it”?
best rgds,
prad
June 10, 2019 at 17:23
If the overstay was less than 6 months there is no bar.
June 10, 2019 at 11:44
Sir
Kcc will be these enough visas redistrubed or waste
June 10, 2019 at 18:43
Wasted if there are no more cases that need visas.
June 10, 2019 at 14:15
Hello Brit thanks in advance
as i know that all the selectees after submitting ds260 get automatic reply from kcc .I have submitted Ds260 as i already told you somewhere in this blog, Im not getting auto reply after the form submitted .What to do Brit?
June 10, 2019 at 18:45
If the DS260 shows completed then there is no problem.
June 10, 2019 at 15:58
Dear Mr simon,
I have Two questions:
1- My sponsor sent the form I-134 to me, but he send the W2 OF 2017, my interview is in July, and he may not have enough time to send me the new one, because the embassy requires to send the documents ahead of the interview, can I attach the one I have(2017), and take the new one in the interview ?
2-My second question is about DS-5535. I have prefilled it as you suggested in your post. My question is should I send it with the documents ahead of the interview, or just take it with me at the day of the interview?
Thank you.
June 10, 2019 at 20:20
1. Do you have a choice?
2. Either way. It’s not certain they will want it, but I don’t think it harms to send it or have it ready.
June 10, 2019 at 16:01
Hello Brit my case no is 2019AS13XXX. I send my documents to kcc on 17th april and got confirmation on 4th of may. Can i be scheduled for an August interview?
June 10, 2019 at 20:21

June 11, 2019 at 01:45

June 11, 2019 at 02:23
Wait and see.
June 11, 2019 at 05:02
Hi BritSimon:
1) do u know whether it is the GROSS Income or the ADJUSTED Gross Income which is what the Embassy considers (Algerian)..
2) My GROSS for 2018 was $32,500 but my ADJUSTED Gross $17,749. Poverty Guideline in DC is $16,910. (but my house equity is $350,000 and no other bills and a lot in Savings. Will this still work?
3) My W-2 and 1040 last year for 2017 were twice the earnings because my boss retired in 2018. This year I am developing my own business. Would it help to have the Selectee take my 2017 W-2 and 1040 as well or will the 2018 be good enough?
Thanks for a reply
June 11, 2019 at 12:46
You asked these questions and got answers a few months ago. Please be respectful of my time.
June 11, 2019 at 05:05
Oh – and also would it help for him to take my Credit Reports which are 8 – very high? Does that make any difference?
June 11, 2019 at 06:26
1) Also – he has $16,000 in his account – will this help to have both the I-34 from me – plus his own saving? (just in case I am considered too close to the poverty income (although over it, but not by much if they consider ADJUSTED Gross Income).
2) (I don’t know what the $ requirements are for him? If $16K is enough for one person to qualify along with my I-34?
June 10, 2019 at 17:15
Hello Brit thanks for this amazing blog,
I am a dv2019 winner with CN 4XXXX, my question is If I am jobless for long time (3 years) could create problems in the interview ?
June 10, 2019 at 20:26
Maybe. They may wonder how you will survive in America.
June 10, 2019 at 23:54
Thanks for the reply Brit, I don’t gave you all data. I was previously a policeman for 9 years and I had a master degree. In fact, I still seeking for a new job but in vain, even that I found jobs with very low income that I refused. Please do you advise me to:
1/ bring with me copies of the last job interview convocation emails that I assisted ?
2/ start to work with low income in order ton obtain work certificate ?
Thank you so much.
June 11, 2019 at 00:00
You can use your own judgement on how you want to handle it. I don’t have a magic solution.
June 13, 2019 at 11:55
Thank you Brit. I find a new job, please do I need to unlock ds260 in order to update the work experience, or just take the work certificate with me to the interview.
I have already received the ready for scheduling message on may,21.
Thank you Sir.
