02. do they process the ds260 in order they receives or visa bulletin order?
02. if i unlock the form can it cause delay of processing?
03. did i receives a new barcode (on DS260 submission confirmation) if i resubmit the form?

Hi Brit,
I am dv2019 and waiting for 2nl. Regarding the new rule for informing social media info, does this will affect to dv2019 also and where I can put the social media info/download the form? Does the form need to submit to KCC or just bring it for the interview?
Thanks brit.

June 13, 2019 at 21:31
Tell them at the interview.
June 13, 2019 at 15:42
Hi Brit, I know that DS260 should be as accurate as possible. The thing is that in my spouse’s application (already submitted and reopened twice) the military specialty is incorrect, it doesn’t match with the mikimili book. Is it OK to ask to reopen the third time or this is not a big issue and can be corrected during the interview? Thanks
June 13, 2019 at 15:43
Sorry, military book 🙂
June 13, 2019 at 21:32
Correct at the interview.
June 13, 2019 at 16:30
hi brit,
good day!!
I have a question that which one is most important for I-134 form, U.S social security number or Alien registration number. As I saw on youtube U.S social security number is the main for I-134 .
June 13, 2019 at 21:34
Your question makes no sense. Please try again.

Hi Britt Thanks for the good job
Kindly is there a possibility that someone can get a notification for valid documents and still don’t get 2nl.

June 13, 2019 at 16:45
Hello
First of all I appreciate your help on the subject, I was selected for the DV 2020, with the case number 2020SA000012XX, please tell me according to your experience:
1. If it is a good position number
2. When you suggest that I should fill out the DS-260
3. At the moment I am in the United States as a tourist, you believe that there is some possibility of changing the status and doing the process from here, since I am from Venezuela and the embassy in my country is currently closed
June 13, 2019 at 21:35
1. It’s OK – but you will wait many months.
2. You can fill it out anytime.
3. No. That could go badly wrong.
June 13, 2019 at 17:44
Hi there,
Thanks for the amazing website. I’m a 2020 selectee and haven’t yet sent in my DS260 because you advised to wait. I am in Oceania with a number around 800. You mentioned something about upcoming visa bulletins giving an indication of holes in the numbers and so on – is that likely to be in the next couple of months? And are you going to post about that when it happens? I’m just trying to get a sense of how long I should wait before acting. Thanks again!
June 13, 2019 at 21:45
Your number is not that high, you can submit in the next month or two.
June 13, 2019 at 18:30
Hey Brit
2019AF winner
I received the email that says
‘Records indicate youhave submitted a complete DS260 and so on..
1. Do I have a chance for August or the interviews for August have already been arranged that’s if there is space at the Embassy I will be interviewed in?
June 13, 2019 at 21:46
Wait and see.
June 13, 2019 at 18:39
I received the ready for scheduling mail today that’s 13th of June
Do I have a chance for August
June 13, 2019 at 21:47
Probably not. September.
June 13, 2019 at 18:51
Hello Sir, I have a serious question and I need your help. My country of Birth is Kuwait which is Elligiable for DV Lottery, but Kuwait as much as most Arab countries DON’T grant nationality based on birth right. I spent 35 years of my life having a REFUGEE STATUS carrying a travel document from Lebanon (Grant No Citizen Rights). in 2016 I was granted Nationality from Ukraine based on my Spouse and Son Nationality. I have been randomly selected for DV2020 and my application stated clearly that I was Born in Kuwait and my Nationality is Ukrainian (The only Nationality I have currently). I got unfortunate news from an immigration agent who told me that my application to KCC WILL BE REJECTED since my country of birth is different from country of Elligibility that I chose! (I STILL DID NOT SEND MY DV260 APPLICCATION TO KCC) I need your advice on this kindly.
June 13, 2019 at 21:48
What is the case number range with year and region?
June 13, 2019 at 21:52
Actually, I just found your earlier question (below), that shows your CN. Your number is an EU number, which shows you incorrectly selected Ukraine. Assuming you are not married to a Ukrainian born spouse, your agent is correct, you will be disqualified, and there is no fix.
https://britsimonsays.com/dv2019-report-case-numbers-here/comment-page-15/#comment-185333
June 15, 2019 at 09:50
Hi BritSimon, Actually I am married to a Ukrainian Spouse and she was born in Ukraine. So her Country of eligibility is Ukraine accordingly. She and my Son are both included in the DV application I lunched when I got endomly selected. Is my case still valid? Note I have a visit visa for 10 years to US , me and my family, and I don’t want to lose it all if I don’t have chance to apply to DV lottery.
Kindly advise
June 15, 2019 at 13:37
OK – then you can proceed using her country of birth as your country of eligibility. If I were you I would print the rule regarding that here – because the CO might not understand it well.
https://britsimonsays.com/country-of-chargeability-for-dv-lottery/
Now – lastly – your case number for EU is not that high, but I suggest you hold back on submission of the DS260 for a couple of months at least. Ukraine does not normally have case numbers as high as yours. We don’t know what that means yet (something has changed in DV2020 with the draw process), but there is some risk that you would not become current – and therefore your DS260 would create problems for future non immigrant visas renewals/applications.
June 18, 2019 at 18:25
Hello Sir, I have some questions that came up based on my foriegn country of chargeability choice.
1- Will the Country/Region Demand statistics differences affect the COs decision to accept or reject my choice of choosing my spouse Country of Chargeability? (ex: demand in Middles East/Kuwait lower than EU/Ukraine meanwhile I opted for EU/Ukraine)
2- If my elective country of Chargeability is Ukrraine, meanwhile I was born in Kuwait (as discussed based on my spouse). Will my interview be scheduled in Kuwait as the country of birth or in Ukraine as the country of chargeability?
3- How much is it possible to reschedule my interview to other country and what are the consequences of doing so? (ex: change from Kuwait to Ukraine)
4- Will it be possible to get your recommendation for immigration attorney to hire for my case?
I am sorry I am coming up with all these questions, but I really need the help.
June 18, 2019 at 19:21
1. No. The choice you made actually lessened your chances of selection.
2. The country where you live.
3. No need.
4. You don’t need an attorney, you just need to pay attention to what I have explained and print out some of the documents I have pointed you to.
June 13, 2019 at 21:47
Hello Simon – first thank you for the time you spend answering all these many questions.
I have a question regarding my DV Selectee.
1) If he chooses to go forward independently without using me as a Sponsor, how much is the minimum required $amount he will need to qualify for coming to DC.
2) Am I allowed to send him money to supplement his savings account so that he can qualify? (he will still come and live with me).
3) Can I provide the I-34 without W-2 and 1040 because it was an incomplete year last year since my boss retired in March and I think I am too close to the poverty line LAST year to qualify for him. But I can show all other monies I have.
Appreciate your time in answering.
June 13, 2019 at 21:55
I’m sorry, but you have asked similar questions so many times and I have asked you to read my FAQ and articles about the I-134. You clearly don’t do that and then ask questions that you should not need to ask. Please stop. READ THE ARTICLE.

June 13, 2019 at 22:06
OK my apologies – I see you said $10K per adult! Its because sometimes when u give replies to people here you have quoted differently on occasion.
(but I still don’t see if I’m
allowed to transfer money to his account to help him qualify?)
(I just don’t want to do anything illegal!
June 14, 2019 at 01:09
Again, use some of your own judgement.
June 14, 2019 at 03:20
thanks for your reply. I just don’t know if its legal and they accept this. I tend to think it should be no problem. I do plan to boost his savings so he can qualify ..but …what do I know if this will be an issue or not.
I do appreciate your input!
June 13, 2019 at 22:02
The link does NOT address whether a person can transfer money to their Selectees account to help their case. This is a very specific question I have not asked previously.
Nor does it specify how much a Selectee has to have to qualify independently.
I have seen you tell some people $25 K MAY be enough – and I have seen you answer $15K may be enough. That’s a big difference.
If I could find the answer on Google I would surely not bother you as I hate asking you questions because you get irritated very easily. But I cannot find answers to these questions.

Hi Brit,
Hope you are well.
We already received our visa packet and everything. However, my passport will be less than 6 months before our travel date so we have decided to renew my passport (my husband is the winner). The dv immigrant visa was stamped in my old passport so I’ll be using my valid passport and bring with me the old one.
Question: renewing the passport will not be problem right after the issuance of dv visa?
I know it’s kinda a silly question but I just want to clear my head before the travel date.
Thank you in advance Brit and May Allah continue to bless you.

June 14, 2019 at 01:26
You must complete the ds260 accurately, and generally that will be ok, if there are no fraud concerns.
June 14, 2019 at 01:16
Hi brit… should the sponsor must have 10k dollar saving at his account inorder to sponsor single person?
June 14, 2019 at 01:23
You have misunderstood something. Please Google britsimon 134.
June 14, 2019 at 01:53

Pretty bad consultancy…

June 14, 2019 at 02:50
1. Wait – because you have months to wait and will probably realize you need to change other things.
2. Number order.
3. I don’t know.
June 14, 2019 at 02:56
Hi BritSimon, I have a buddy who won the DV lottery 2019, but he’s still struggling to submit his DS-260 since he doesn’t have the passport yet. Do you know whether he can submit the DS-260 without the passport number ?? his winning number seems to be within the first 50K #s. Thanks for your time.
June 14, 2019 at 03:15
I assume you mean DV2020, because DV2019 is almost over and there is no time to be submitting a DS260 at this point. A Passport is not required to submit the form, but will be before long. But depending on his number, there may be a long wait anyway, so I suggest he obtains the passport frst, then submits the DS260
June 14, 2019 at 21:25
yeah-I meant DV2020 and his # case is somewhere around 2020AF00032XXX. Thanks BritSimon for your time.
June 14, 2019 at 22:23
So – he has many months to wait anyway – no need to rush.

June 14, 2019 at 05:02
Have you asked KCC if they are satisfied with your documents?? If yes – WHEN?
June 14, 2019 at 07:41
Hi Brit
My husbang won the 2019DV and our case is 2019AF20xxx. Very strange we have never been contacted but we are following up with KCC by email and over the phone (all our required documents have been already submitted since May) and when we check our visa status it indicated “at NVC” but till today no interview scheduled – this is very strange.Could you please advise?
June 14, 2019 at 16:05
NVC is the normal status until an interview is scheduled.
The question is not whether you sent documents, it’s whether KCC received AND ARE SATISFIED with the documents. That is what you should ask KCC.
June 14, 2019 at 16:57
Yes – KCC received and are satisfied with the documents but I am wondering about our interview which is not yet scheduled…
June 14, 2019 at 17:32
OK – well maybe you will be in the next batch of 2NLs in the second half of this month.
June 14, 2019 at 08:19
Hello Brit blessed day,
I’m a 2019dv winner and case 2019AF29XXX
On May 7 KCC sent me a mail saying I’ve submitted complete documents.
But it’s been 1 month 1 week now and I’ve not yet received any mail for interview.
Please what do you advise I do?
June 14, 2019 at 16:34
Wait. You were too late for July interviews, and 2NLs for August interviews go out over the remainder of June.
June 14, 2019 at 17:13
Ok Brit. Thank you. I’ll just wait for the mail to be sent then. Hoping to see you some day

1. Can he be our Sponsor?
2. In i134 which years income is mentioned 2019 or 2018?

June 14, 2019 at 16:47
Yes you can do that. But make sure her work experience meets the requirement, otherwise her interview will just be a waste of your time and money.

execus me! i had 10 plus 3 whith 5 years work experince but the visa did’t given tom to me what is wronge here?
June 14, 2019 at 16:53
How can I answer this? I have no idea of your case.
June 14, 2019 at 14:52
I’m by no means an expert, but I have a little understanding and I read your VB for August 2019 and read with interest that everything is “current” and that there is a lots of availability for visas for DV2019 and they have whittled down qualifying entries to well below availability for those that won – i.e. there is PLENTY to go around for successful applicants going through.
Is that right?
On the basis the above is right, is there any harm in postponing a scheduled interview THIS MONTH to next month? even early July, mid July will be fine if that is fine
The reason is – I haven’t managed to get myself organised for the interview date (document preparedness etc.) and there is lots happening in other aspects of life (work, kids’ school etc)- even a week or two postponement will clear my diary / desk as things tend to completely quiet down in July /August as it is the “summer break”
Only asking based on your assessment of the VB for August 2019……if there is plenty availability across all regions, should be OK?
June 14, 2019 at 16:58
That is still a risk. Your embassy are allocated visas for each case sent to them by KCC. At the end of the month, unused visas are sent back, so your visas would be returned. Then wehen you interview later (IF the embassy reschedules), the embassy would have to communicate with KCC, get new visas allocated and so on. Sometimes those processes get delayed, and before you know it you miss the deadline. So – no chance of visas running out doesn’t mean no risk to rescheduling.
June 14, 2019 at 15:05
This is personal question to you which I hope you don’t mind, but I need your insight to your won experience – I was reading your background on your site (thank you) and I believe you were from the UK, now in California as a result of the DV program
I am a winner from the UK, and a British Citizen but still qualified for the DV program and won
I am so used to life in the UK, and without doubt it is one of the best countries in the world, if not the best. There is a hard toss up between the UK and the US – the only thing with the US is the weather in say Florida or Arizona – other than that, I can’t see again
As you’ve been through it and you are / were British, is it worth all the upheaval to the US – I nearly 50 and very “settled” – I was only thinking for the kids?
I have 2 kids all in early teens?
The only thing I hate about the UK is the weather – it can get awful / depressing – but other than that it is a dandy place to be !!!
Is it worth the upheaval, really, from your experience (having been where I am)?
June 14, 2019 at 17:17
That is pretty much my story. I had worked in the USA for much of the 20 years before emigrating here in 2014 (at age 49). I was leading a successful/comfortable life in the UK, my contracting career going very well, wife a VP for a large international bank, weekend house in Spain blah blah. Nice life. But, my wife is originally from Spain, and was miserable with the UK winters (and even the lousy UK “summers”). My daughter was 5, so more easily uprooted than teenagers.
Because I had worked for several US companies (as a contractor), I knew I could get a job with a previous client, or find work in my (fairly niche, fairly well paid) skillset. I owned rental properties in the States anyway, so I knew we could live in the USA with no problems. I could have chose anywhere but my preferred client had major operations in the SF Bay area and just outside of Tampa, FL – so we could easily pick either of those places and slide right in to a well paid job with good benefits and so on.
So – we chose the SF Bay area, and we are happy with that decision.
Like the USA, the UK is a great place to live, especially if you have money. The downsides of the USA are the education (expensive at Uni level), health system (ridiculous), guns (idiotic), and politics (idiots electing idiots). When people ask why USA over UK my answer is usually “the weather”. It was also early enough for my daughter that she would not have a problem assimilating – and that turned out to be true. We chose to live in a horrendously expensive area so I have a mortgage that I would prefer not to have at my age, and will probably have to help out with college costs or send my daughter to a UK Uni. So I am still working where I would be retired in the UK (or Florida), but that’s OK.
Is it worth it – yeah it is. Mostly upsides, a few downsides.
June 14, 2019 at 19:28

Hey Brit,
thank you so much for everything as your blog saved me already from several mistakes.
Case number: 2020EU24XXX
I’ve been living here in California for over 2 years on a O1 Visa that will expire July 2020.
In a previous post you mentioned that you would consider AOS, but even If I carefully read your posts multiples times about the differences, I am still very confused about what would be the best way.
I am OK with traveling back for a month or so, and other than the fact that my Visa could expire before the Interview date and I would have to wait in EU or renew the O1, I was wandering if there are any other factors I should consider before choosing that.
Also the documentation and supporting evidence requested for CP seems to be less and much easier for me to put together than for the AOS.
Thanks again for your time,
Leo

Actually, I would suggest you dont choose or do anything for a couple of months until we know more about selected numbers this year. AOS is a good method with one main drawback, that being that a Visa is not preallocated, as it is for CP. How big a problem that is depends on demand – selectee counts.
So, for now, do nothing. There is no downside to that.

Hi sir,
I’ve a question regarding my new address and here it’s,
I started living @ the new address on 01/04/2019 but the the document given out by municipality mentions that I’ve been registered at the new address on 15/04/2019 so this is my question,
1)Which date shoud I choose??The date I actually started living(01/04/2019) OR the date I’ve been registered mentioned in the document by municipality(15/04/2019)??
Thanks you in advance!

It’s a small matter, you choose.

Thank you for the great service you provide . I have a quick question at least I think
It is. It’s a tax question . I did check previous details on site but couldn’t locate
Activated green card in jan 2019 stayed a couple of weeks returned to Melbourne to get organised for the move which will be nov/dec this year,
I understand i May have to put a return in for the states even though I haven’t worked in the states. Do you just log on to the IRS and lodge my group certificate from Australia and if so when is tax time for the states
Thanks for your assistance

If you activated in January, no return is due until April 2020.

Hello, didn’t find an information in FAQ about passport. Validity of passport is ending. I have sent all documents to the KCC by their request(photocopy of this passport too). They cheked all the documents and everything is okay. So my question is: can I change a passport before an interview?
June 15, 2019 at 13:41
Yes. Take old and new passports to the interview.
June 16, 2019 at 05:37
But they would took my old passport and I would have only photocopy’s.
June 16, 2019 at 15:25
So that is what you will have then – the photocopies.
June 16, 2019 at 14:19
There is a small problem, if I would change it, I wouldn’t have an old passport in my hands. Because we can’t have old and new passport at one moment.

Hi Simon
In my Ds260 i didn’t put that i have worked before because i only worked once and that was 3 months with no documents or anything that proves that i worked before, is it okey ?
June 15, 2019 at 15:53
Yes
June 15, 2019 at 18:24
Hey BritSimon
When are you expected to received an email that states that you should send electronic copies of all your documents to the KCC email. Is it before you fill and send the DS260 form or after filling and sending the form already.
2. If my husband cannot join me now but later how is that done. What do i need to do to let them know that my husband will be joining me later to the states.
Thanks.
June 15, 2019 at 18:48
1. After the DS260. This is a very basic question – please put some effort in to a little reading of my articles.
2. That is in the DS260. But – if you do not take your husband via the DV process, you will be using family based immigration – read the downsides here: https://britsimonsays.com/faq/dv-process-versus-family-based-immigration/

I live in a major industrialised western country although I am a native of a poorly third world country – the reason why I was selected
Have you seen CO’s exercise discretion if an applicant for the DV may fall short on something (minor)
Lets say they may like you
you do well
you carry yourself well
you are professional and intelligent, articulate
one or two small quirks that they want to overlook – do they have discretionary power? Have you see that ?
June 15, 2019 at 22:15
It would depend what it is. If you don’t meet the requirements on education/work experience for example, they have no discretion.
June 15, 2019 at 21:56
Hi Brit,
I have a question, as I said last time CO requested a waiver for my case. About 40 days after interview, our status was still “Ready” in CEAC. Then it turned to A P for my family and Refused for me as principal applicant and a week later for me also it turned to A P. Now, I see for myself and my wife latest update is recorded date XX, while for kids is recorded the previous one which was let’s say XX – 2 days. My question is whether A P could be included the waiver evaluation as well or is only the visa application administrative processing?! Moreover, is there any reason that our last update is applied only for my wife and myself, while for kids the previous update is remained unchanged?!
Thanks a lot,
June 15, 2019 at 22:14
I recommend you don’t spend a lot of time trying to figure out what the updates mean. I have no idea.
