Hi Bri
Is it possible to have a sponsor that is different from the adress in my DS 260?
June 15, 2019 at 23:26
Yes
June 16, 2019 at 01:20
Hey Bri
I won this year but my case number is very high is euro52××× which I know my luck to get the interview is equal 0
And the problem is I’m planning to go to work in sua with a company and I need to request a working temporary visa
… and if I complete the ds260 and send it and i dont get the interview
then when I apply for the temporary working visa to leave with the company they will see my ds260 in the system
do you think my working visa if I apply could be denied because of ds260 because they see it in the system .and they might think I want to stay there ?
I know you are not a lawer but any info will help and thank you for the wonderful job that you’re doing here ..
June 16, 2019 at 01:55
Easy solution. Dont submit your ds260 until we know your chances.
June 16, 2019 at 09:42
Hi brit, my interview is scheduled on July 8. My sponsor is my own sister. She is a US citizen. We just came to realize that she has submitted visa petition for greencard of our parents (mom and dad) on September, 2018 where she will be the sponsor. Do I need to change the sponsor?
Now, our parents interview will probably be on September 2019 or october 2019. Also, in I 134 form, there is the question where my sister needs to mention she is also sponsoring ourparents.
Could you please help me. If I meed to change the sponsor, I will do it right away.
June 16, 2019 at 15:32
The safest idea is to change.
June 16, 2019 at 10:25

June 16, 2019 at 11:42
Hi Simon
I’m one of the winners Dv2020 and my CN is about 6k , i have filled and sent my Ds260 two weeks ago , should i send the documents now or should i wait the first mail from them ? , Im worried that if i sent them before there would be some changes in the documents required! What do you suggest ?
June 16, 2019 at 15:41
Wait to be asked.
June 16, 2019 at 16:43
But so many people in the DV2019 sent their documents before they get that email and there was no probleme after they checked it out from KCC !
June 16, 2019 at 18:38
“So many”, no. But you can do what you want…
June 16, 2019 at 12:25
Hi Brit, i am a sponsor of a dv 2019 winner and i live with my relatives who owns the house. My income was 25K for last year and I have a 35K on my checking account. When i try to fill i 134 it asks about any houses i own but i have none. Is it better if my relative fill I 134 bz he can do it too ? Thanks in advance
June 16, 2019 at 15:43
It is about income. Check the formula here:

June 16, 2019 at 14:35
Thanks Brit
I am not getting the exact answer brit .The main question is Can a single sponsor file I-134 (for dv lottery winner) and I-130 for his spouse (Marriage based) at the same time? My sponsor is my brother in law and he is sponsoring his wife (My sister) and I’m dv lottery winner
Thanks in advance brit
June 16, 2019 at 15:44
There isn’t an “exact answer”. But to reduce risk, get another sponsor.
June 16, 2019 at 15:06
Hello, Brit
Thank you for your answer to my question (didn’t find an information in FAQ about passport. Validity of passport is ending. I have sent all documents to the KCC by their request(photocopy of this passport too). They cheked all the documents and everything is okay. So my question is: can I change a passport before an interview?) You said, that I should take old and new passport to an interview.
But there is a small problem, because when I would get a new passport, passport office would’t give me my old passport back, there is no chance to get it back. So I would have an opportunity to go to the interview only with new passport and photocopy of an old passport.
What should I do? Maybe I should call KCC to get more information?
June 16, 2019 at 15:45
You have repeated this several times. Ask once, then wait. I sleep sometimes.
Use the Photocopies.
June 16, 2019 at 15:50
Thanks for supporting us brit. I will add next sponsor as accordance to you .for this do I unlock ds260 or later on after 2NL ? and lots of people in my countries are under pending due to public charge .Thanks for proper guidance Brit !!!
June 16, 2019 at 16:20
No need to unlock, you just present the I-134 at the interview.
June 16, 2019 at 17:01
Hello Brit I just have one Question about the dc winner how long does take to get an interview after sending all your documents they kcc asked for they receive it on 30 mai thanks u and let me know please
June 16, 2019 at 18:41
It varies. Wait and see.
June 16, 2019 at 17:07
Hello sir I am 2019 dv lottery winner with case number 2019AS12***.I received my ready to be scheduled mail on 24th of may but since then I did not receive any mails for interview which is making me worried.Could you kindly advise me further.
June 16, 2019 at 18:41
That is normal. Be patient.
June 16, 2019 at 17:53
Hello Simon … I am a winner in dv2020.. I want to know if Is there a problem if I changed my educational degree from high school to a faculty degree in ds260 Although I filled by mistake the first application with high school and i was a faculty graduate
June 16, 2019 at 18:41
No problem.
June 16, 2019 at 22:03
Thanks Brit! But,
1: After he submitted or! As in can’t that lead to disqualification at the interview? If at all he submitted and he needs to unlock and rectify that mistake.
2: please give me a link to the requirements of immunization coverage.
3: The documents which the CO requires there certified copies
Thank you.
June 16, 2019 at 22:10
1. I said no problem – RELAX!
2. That will be taken care of at the medical and varies depending on the specific scenario.
3. Read the country specific instructions.
June 16, 2019 at 23:14
Okay bro!
Sorry cause I was worried that won’t they consider it as fraud.
1: So the Kcc don’t remain with a copy of the unedited ds260 and can’t they send it to the CO?
2: Please I have a question after the selection. I have read your articles and something left me hanging. should I wait for the 2NL in order to submit the supporting documents or submission will be emailed from KCCDV? I am Af000193**
June 17, 2019 at 00:03
1. The CO can see changes you make.
2. After you submit, at some point you will be asked to send documents. Wait.
June 17, 2019 at 21:10
Hello Brit!
Hope you’re doing well today.
My question is,
1: My sponsor is self employed. What does she necessarily need to send me apart from 1040??
2: I am not traveling with my spouse. Do I have to take my spouse on my interview?
3: when will I have to take her? Is it after I receive my green card or I can anytime when there?
4: Does my sponsor have to still show the income capabilities of securing me and her still? since she’s coming on a later date.
5: why is Social media links required. What’s needed to be proved by the CO?
Finally;
6: Doesn’t the social media profile and posts affect my visa approval?
Thank you in advance.
June 17, 2019 at 23:08
Do me a favor. Spend some time reading the FAQ, and some of the other articles and then ask what *remains* as questions.
June 20, 2019 at 21:12
Hello Brit.
Thanks for your time that you give to us. May God enable you pursue your dreams as well.
I have a simple word, I have read where so ever you told me read for my last questions but I didn’t get what I’m looking for. Please just help me and give me a few minutes of your time bro and give me the answers of my most recent post here. I will be grateful. It gives me confidence please. I just request.
June 20, 2019 at 23:50
Honestly, it feels like you are being lazy. You cannot seriously be telling me that you read the FAQ etc and could not find answers for ANY of the 6 questions on your latest post – or that ALL of them are still necessary. I am very busy. I expect you to put in some effort.
June 21, 2019 at 06:38

Extra Help here: And I have realized now that I made a mistake in the ds260 at the place of marriage I had put the place where our traditional marriage was and the certificate indicates where the Islam Nikahi marriage was. If I rectify before I re-submit won’t it cause me a problem?
June 21, 2019 at 13:43
2. No
4. No
6. Possibly
Really – some of this is just using a little logic. Keep reading, and keep thinking.
June 17, 2019 at 07:50
I mean that i didn’t open the ds260 yet… but when i applied to the lottery I made a mistake to choose high school degree although i was a university graduate… Now i will open my ds260 but i will fill it with my university degree is it a problem?
can they consider it fraud?
June 17, 2019 at 13:56
Again. No problem.
June 17, 2019 at 15:53
thank you Mr Britsimon
June 17, 2019 at 07:54

June 16, 2019 at 19:18
Hello Simon, first of all thank you for all the support.I am a winner in dv 2020. I have friend in USA (US citizen) that can offer me a job. He has a logistics company. What kind of documents he can or should send me so that I can prove that I have a job offer.Thank you again
June 16, 2019 at 21:54
A formal job offer, along with information of the company (website, business address and so on).
BUT – a word of warning – don’t do that if the job offer or the company is not genuine.
June 16, 2019 at 20:59

June 16, 2019 at 21:48
You need to explain which answer you are referring to….
June 16, 2019 at 21:46
Hi, is there an advantage to pay the green card fee before travelling to the states? I intend to pay immediately i get there but just wondering if there are any advantages to pay earlier
June 16, 2019 at 21:49
Not really, perhaps slightly faster arrival of the Green Card.
June 16, 2019 at 22:54
Hi Brit,
Regarding first entry to the US, I know that after the first entry the green card will be mailed to the provided address and it usually take 2 to 3 months. My questions are,
1. Will it be mailed even if I left before I receive it? I know I can leave immediately after first entry and the visa after endorsement is good for a year, but does issuing the card requires being in the US?
2. Do I need to fill any forms for the GC (I-551)?
Thanks & Regards,
O.A
June 17, 2019 at 00:04
1. Yes
2. No
June 17, 2019 at 19:41
Hi Brit,
Regarding your answer for number 1. Sorry I asked the same question in two different ways, so was your answer “Yes” for the card will be mailed even if I left the US or was it for 8ssuing the card requires being in the US.
Sorry again but just to make sure I got you correctly.
Regards,
OA
June 17, 2019 at 20:33
Will it be mailed even if I left before I receive it?
Yes
June 16, 2019 at 23:22

Can I sent these document before KCC request for them? Please, what can I do as time is running out?
June 17, 2019 at 00:05
Hopefully they will ask you to send documents in the next few days. Be ready.
June 17, 2019 at 00:26

June 17, 2019 at 04:45
dear brit

June 17, 2019 at 04:52
hi brit
could deaf person can take interpreter at dv interview?
June 17, 2019 at 13:52
Yes
June 17, 2019 at 06:46
Hi Britt I sent the package and I got a mail back that received my check for fingerprints but I haven’t got another mail to schedule to fingerprints yet. Been 16days already after I got received mail.
Is it usual for 16days ? I look up at timeline, it’s around 3-14days normally you will get schedule for fingerprints. And all friends who won lottery I know they got schedule after got 1st first mail 4days in Manhattan, NY
What do you think? Is any problem in my case?
Thank you
June 17, 2019 at 13:54
Problem? Yep. Lack of patience.
June 17, 2019 at 07:44
Hi Simon and everyone else,
I am glad to announce that I have an interview in a few weeks, but as I come to think of it I may have omitted one of my addresses on my DS-260 form!
Is it best that I address this mistake during the interview or can I try and fix it beforehand?
Also I am not certain I did or did not leave out the address…
I have all the criminal records and proper translations of those criminal records from all the countries I lived in though…
Thanks for your time.
June 17, 2019 at 13:55
Once scheduled you cannot unlock.change the DS260, but you can review it.
June 17, 2019 at 09:13
Dear Mr. Simon,
I’m glad you have been of help to so many of us.
I wanted to ask if it okay for someone who has not received 2NLs and case is current whether they can go ahead and submit documents without it. since the duration remaining is short and may be bared by time due to this.
June 17, 2019 at 14:02
That is an option that has worked for some – yes.
June 17, 2019 at 10:42
Hello sir
This my friend problem , he is living lawful in USA as a student [f1] visa so he is selected in DV program 2020 and he has submitted DS260 form . Now problem is this he’s visa is going to expiry sep 2019 SO THAT HE HAS SUBMITTED DS260 FORM HURRY.
He has validity document like i-20,EAD card ,SSN and TPS , GIVE US ADVICE , NOW HE IS GOING TO PLAN NEXT AOS .He case no . is AS96xx.
CAN WE SUBMIT TWO FORM DS260 AND AOS?
He wants to do interview in USA .
Give him good suggestion like me .
Thanks
June 17, 2019 at 14:11
DV2020 interviews don;t start until October at the earliest, and your friend might be much later than that depending on his case number, so he should probably plan to process outside the USA.
June 17, 2019 at 10:59
Hi Simon,
I have submitted my application for the DS-260 on 19th May 2019 (Case No. 2020EU13xxx)
So far I have not heard back from the KCC. Do you know how long it usually takes for them to request the documents? Or do these times vary? Should I be worried if I have not heard back after a month?
Many thanks,
Nina
June 17, 2019 at 14:12
Normal. You won;t hear for several months.
June 17, 2019 at 11:09
Can a green card holder who have recently received greencard (in June, 2019) could sponsor the DV winner? My interview is in July 1st week.
My own brother in law has recently received greencard. My sister don’t have green card yet and has not done any process as well. And their son is a citizen of US; he is just 1 year old. Both my, sister and brother in law are working as a medical doctor in usa.
June 17, 2019 at 14:13
Yes, if he has been paying taxes in the USA for some years.
June 17, 2019 at 11:18
Dear Brit, I truly appreciate your selfless efforts in guiding us through this process. I have been following your posts closely and it has been so educative thank you so much. Sir, my concern is this I am a 2020 DV selectee AF 243xx. While applying for the DV last yeare, I also filled in for the Canadian federal skill worker scheme and has been nominated as well. Can I pursue the two at once? I have to respond with 90days for the Canadian entry which is certain that by then I guess my case will not be current yet for the DV. And if finally I’m given the Canadian visa does it mean automatically I’ve turned down my green card which I prefer? Please sir your insightful contribution will help me make a smarter decision. Thank you very much in advance
June 17, 2019 at 14:15
There is no connection between the two things. Two different countries.
June 17, 2019 at 13:22
Hello Mr. Simon,
My case number is 2019AS11xxx . I sent docs to kcc end of May. They satisfied all the docs & have confirmed on 4th of June.
questions:
1) What is your prediction about my Interview date?
2) I have already got my bank statement. Do I really have to prepare I-134 form?
June 17, 2019 at 14:23
1. September probably.
2. Do you want to reduce risk?
June 17, 2019 at 15:30
Mr. Simon,
further add to that question,I wanted to tell you that if I can show enough money (as you explain 10K in US$ for each adult) ther is no need to show the I-134 form. Isn’t it ?
June 17, 2019 at 15:39
AGAIN. An I-134 reduces the risk. No need to keep asking – that is my answer.
June 17, 2019 at 13:44
Hello Brit.
Allow me to disturb once more. I have not submitted my DS-260 form because I have been following your advice. You have repeated time and again that there is no advantage in submitting SD-260 early.
You promised to give highlight in one month time based on which case numbers considered high and low case number as far as this year is concern. case number is 2020AF33xxx. .
Would like to submit my form. What can I do?. Is it a safe number or should still wait .
Thank you sir. You’re a resource to us
June 17, 2019 at 14:25
I hate being told I “promised” to do something that I did not. I SAID we would know more in a “month or two” or something similar. Selectee numbers will be released in about a month. Your number is OK, but no need to rush, unless you want to.
June 17, 2019 at 13:50
Hi Brit, Just wanted to let you know that I just got my 2NL for August. CN 2019EU29xxx, embassy in Germany, submitted my DS260 on April 27, my documents on May 5 and got the ready to be scheduled email on May 9. Thank you for all your advice until now!!!
June 17, 2019 at 17:12
Hello Mr.Simon ,
I’m 2009 lottery winner with 8xxx case number. I submitted the DS260 form end of May and submitted my documents at the beginning of June. I got approval email again on 9th of June. When do you think i’d be interviewed? Should i do something to increase my chance? Thanks a lot
June 17, 2019 at 19:06
September most likely. Nothing to do except wait.
June 17, 2019 at 18:11
Hi Brit; I was a winner of 2019. At the announcement’s time I was out of the US. So I selected an embassy to interview [CP (Consular Processing)] and I’ve received second letter and the appointment and that is current from that time. At that time due to some family reasons, I couldn’t go to the interview and I cancelled that appointment before the time of appointment and informed them via email. But I am now in the US and want to follow my process here. 1- How can I transfer my documents or appointment into the US and get a new appointment’s interview there? 2- How long does it take to transfer documents (DS) and appointment?
Regards; And Thank you for your help!
June 17, 2019 at 19:29
Oh wow – you are making a simple process into a complex one, and at the same time creating risk. You can read about the AOS process at the link below, but in my opinion you should contact the embassy to get rescheduled and process CP.
https://forums.immigration.com/threads/dv-2019-aos-only.337772/
June 22, 2019 at 01:56
Dear Brit; Thank you for you time and response. I appreciate that. But I am now in the US with F1 visa. If I contact the embassy to a reschedule an appointment and go out the US and go to the embassy for a immigration propose (DV), my F1 maybe canceled there by officer. What do think about this risk? If you were instead of me, which process you select? CP or AOS in this situation.
June 22, 2019 at 14:15
I already told you and now you have wasted another 5 days. You are running out of time. Unless you hurry up you will lose your chance.
June 17, 2019 at 19:49
Hi I was mistake in D-S 260 can I rectify that now??
June 17, 2019 at 20:34
Smh. It would help if you told me something about your status. If scheduled you cannot change it. Otherwise, yes.
June 17, 2019 at 20:32
Hello everyone,
hello my box Number is AF44XXX, I have to write to ask them the interview.
I am a little confused with the new procedure.
June 17, 2019 at 20:35
Year?
June 17, 2019 at 21:14
2019 year
June 17, 2019 at 22:58
Please can you answer
June 17, 2019 at 21:03
Hello Sir,
I have a question about “CURRENT” meaning in Visa Bulletin. So as I understood, if my case number is for example EU505** and they publish that Visa Bulletin number is “CURRENT”, does that mean there is a chance for me to be called for the interview? Even if the Visa Bulletin number in the previous month was for example 25000 for Europe. Thank you.
June 17, 2019 at 23:13
That is what happened in DV2019, but it does not affect your DV2020 case.
June 17, 2019 at 21:39
I’m a dv winner and I got my visa.my problem is I’m a student so how can I enroll to college with in state payment?is there any way college accepts me like in state student
June 17, 2019 at 22:50
There are residency requirements in most states – you need to research that yourself.
June 17, 2019 at 23:42
Dear Brit, I write to appreciate all that I have come to learn from you by following your posts. Thank you so much for the insight’s and guidance you give on this platform.
I will be very grateful if you could please give me your priceless advice. I am a 2020 dv selectee, case number AF243xx. Before the results cameout I was filling in for the express entry into Canada which has also turned out to be positive and I have to respond within 90days which by then I knowmy case will not be current for the DV. My worry is this; should I continue with the Canadian programme does it mean automatic turn down of the green card? Or I can pursue the two at once? If no which one would you advice me to take?
Thank so much in advance

My friend is schedule for Dv interview on July 12, her uncle has refused to send the affidavit, can she get a affidavit from another person? How can the correction be made? What must she do? Thanks
June 18, 2019 at 00:20
Yes she can get another sponsor – she simply shows that at the interview.
June 18, 2019 at 01:11

Hi Brit,
Thank God I have received 2nl yesterday. My interview will be held on early of August. I tried to follow the instructions on travel.state.gov for next steps and it asks me to follow the instruction on the website for the embassy where I will have the interview. Then I ended up on a page where the first step is to register online, after clicked that link it redirected me to http://www.ustraveldocs.com, is it legit? And when choose the immigrant link to register, again, I was redirected to another website https://cgifederal.secure.force.com.
I have created account on the website and login successfully. But since my dashboard still empty and not yet linked to my dv case, then I click the ‘New application/Schedule appointment’. On that page I asked to select the visa class and none mentions diversity visa. It made me wonder whether I am on the correct page/instruction.
Another question, where I can put the document delivery information?

I dont know the various courier web pages. So, take your time and use your judgement.

Hi Ben,
I’m in a similar situation. I’m following the indicated proceed after receiving 2NL and I ended up to the same page: https://cgifederal.secure.force.com/
However when I try to finish the appointment I get the message: “The Case ID that you have entered cannot be found”
I’m actually unable to find such “Case ID” . Surely I have a “Case Number” which is OC2021000xxx but apparently it doesn’t work as “Case Id”, so I’m assuming this “Case Id” is referring to something else that I’m unable to find.
At this point I’m very confused and unable to finish the appointment for an Interview that as per 2NL is already scheduled.
Thank you,
Heredia

Hi Heredia, I’m in OC too (Australia) would you mind telling me what country you are from please? I have been ready for scheduling for months, and current since the first visa bulletin of the year, and havent gotten a 2NL yet.

Hi Simon like to check with you we had DV visa interview today and unfortunately it got refused at consulate in Auckland with even asking single question by CO except country of birth. As my partner is holding Nepal passport and she is New Zealand PR KCC placed chargebility as Auckland and case officer said as she is main applicant we should be having interview only in Nepal not in Auckland. I am so depressed. Just to check Can I appeal the decision or request KCC to schedule new interviews in Nepal as I think fairly if it is a fault it’s KCC”s fault they shouldn’t even scheduled the interview at first place in Auckland they should have emailed and informed us about interview scheduling location. Please guide

It is NOT about where you were interviewed! That is idiotic, and i think you misunderstood.
Some questions. Answer all, accurately.
1. Case number range (with region).
2. Country of birth of the winner?
3. Were you married prior to entry?
4. Your country of birth?

Hi Britt. Thanks for prompt reply.
Our case no 2019OC1038
Region- Oceanina
Married prior in 2013
My country of birth is Nepal
These are the details of winner
Rejection category is 5A , the CO mentioned area of chargebility.
Please advice

So you are BOTH born in Nepal? OK – so it has nothing to do with where you interview. It is because you were supposed to enter according to country of birth, and therefore should have an AS number, not OC. The denial was certain, and there is nothing you can do.
June 18, 2019 at 07:38
OMG they haven’t realize yet that they should have applied their country as Nepal instead of New Zealand!
This means it doesn’t matter if you are a PR holder or not, you should enter your birth country, not the country where you are taking the permanent resident!
Am I right brit?

Relax and go back in to your form. Save often. Try with or without leading zeros.

Hey Simon, how are ? During my interview I received a paper containing a piece of information indicating my visa will be pending until the Embassy receives my medical report. This time the medical report has already been sent to the Embassy. So, 1. How long will my visa wait wait to be sent to DHL? 2. IS there a chance of running out of visas from the embassy side? I am from Ethiopia, Africa. Thanks

Brit hi, I ve only added my facebook account to DS260. But still I have instagram and youtube which I almost do not use. And there is no photo in these profiles. Do I still need to add these profiles? If yes I will need to reopen the DS for as I have already submitted it.

Yes – unlock, and do it properly!
While you have it unlocked, make sure you answered the other questions correctly too.

Hello Simon,
I have a question regarding the green card.
After the interview, if you get aproved, you pay $220/person for the green card. As of the rules, it takes about 90 days to be mailed in the given address (the one given when applied at DS260).
May I please know, if you have some informations, will the 90 days waiting time will start when I enter the US, or it starts from the time I pay $220?
Because I would like to pay immediately $220 after the interview and I would like to go 2 months after the interview in the US.
June 18, 2019 at 19:05
They only start producing the card once you have paid the fee AND entered the USA.

Hello Brit thanks so much for your time and quick response. I have a question to ask. I collected my bachelors degree certificate in 2017 and found out there was a mistake on my date and month of birth, so I wrote a complain and resubmitted the certificate for corrections. I have been checking with the school but they say it’s not ready yet. My interview is next month, so I want to ask if it will be ok for me to go there with my transcripts and a certified attestation of results(I certified the attestation because it was issued since 2013 after our graduation)?. Because I really don’t know what to do at this point. Please I will welcome your wise suggestions.
