Hi Brit

Hi, I won the DV-2020 and I assume I have a very low case number 4.XXX for Europe (EU). However, I want to make sure that I get a late interview appointment because it fits better to my schedule. Can someone please tell me if it would be clever in order to get a late interview appointment to send the DS-260 late and if so is there a limit date when I have to send it to the KCC?
June 30, 2019 at 16:18
Yes you can do that. You can send the DS260 as late as April/May.
June 30, 2019 at 17:27
Thank you very much for answering Simon. Does a late sending of the DS-260 mean a high risk of not getting a Green Card when you have a low case number? I viewed your chart and in case nothing has changed normally my interview would be in December 2019. So if I send the DS-260 in April 2020 is there still a chance to get an interview appointment or am I refused cause I am too late? And second question is, do I get any information about the medical test once the DS-260 is send or do I have to research myself what I need to be granted a Green Card in terms of medical treatment? When I have to send documents in German language and my consulate is in Germany, do I have to translate die German documents or is it ok to send the documents in German language?
June 30, 2019 at 19:13
1. No problem.
2. You should read the instructions about what physician to use. Don’t do that until you get the 2NL
3. You REALLY should read the instructions!!

Hi Simon,
CN: 2019AS00012***
Embassy: Brussels
Country of chargeability: Lebanon
Upcoming Interview date: 08 August 2019
1- When they ask during the interview about the host in the US, who are they referring to exactly? is it the person in the DS-260 application at the permanent address section?
2- Is it useful to ask my host (who is my cousin) to send me a host/invitation letter ? where she mentions that I will stay at her place when i land in the US and that she will receive docs on my behalf ?
Note: She is not my sponsor (she is not a US citizen). So, I won’t be completing I-34 document, I will rely on my funds (around 30K) + my diploma and work experience.
Thank you so much, your website keeps me sane 🙂
June 30, 2019 at 19:00
1. For some people that address represents someone who will “host” them
2. That is what the I-134 is for…
June 30, 2019 at 12:40
Hello,
1. I filled the DS260, and I’m worried, I think i made a mistake, please tell me is it a problem.
When I filled the form for my 9 months old daughter, because she is too small, in the section where I should give the phone number and email address, I normally gave my email address and phone number, because its known that a 9 months old cant fill by herself, plus at the end I selected there that the Father has assisted her in filling the documents.
My issue is, that I didnt get a CEAC confirmation on my email address for my daughter, though on the website, it says for all 3 of us me, wife and daughter “COMPLETED”.
Please can you explain, is that a problem, should i call KCC ?
2. And another question, when they ask for the scanned documents to be sent on email, does the email come to all 3 of us, or only to the principal applicant and he/she should sent for him/her and derivatives?
June 30, 2019 at 19:02
1. I don’t see that as a problem.
2. Principal only.
July 1, 2019 at 10:54
Hello brit, I am a winner of the 2019, I received confirmation of receipt of documents and validation of my DS260. I’m waiting for the 2nl. my question is: I just got engaged and plan to get married next month and I do not know if it’s possible to join my husband’s immigration case. is not it too late? if no, how? . Thank you.
July 1, 2019 at 22:49
Wow – you have left it very late. You should contact the embassy when you get married (assuming you are scheduled by then). They may allow you to add your husband BUT maybe not.
July 1, 2019 at 09:33
Toni if you want that email you will go on website at the bottom corn in your right you click on sign then you will see email my confirmation then follow instructions.
thank you
June 30, 2019 at 13:48
Hello Brit ,
Please when feeling the previous employee field, we are asked to enter a contact number .
should it be that of the employee in general or we can put in the supervisor number , since the the supervisors’ name was also asked .
Kindly advise .
Thank you .
June 30, 2019 at 19:03
Your choice.
June 30, 2019 at 15:30
Hi Brit. I am a dv selectee 2020 and not married as well. I have been told that from 2019 KCC not only wants a sponsor letter but income statement of the sponsor as well. Could you please tell me how much yearly income is needed for the sponsorship.( yearly income statement of the sponsor)

Hi Brit,
I have submitted my DS 260 application, but in my work experience i forgot to submit my one part time work expeirence (though i have submitted my previous and current work ) ,should I edit DS260 application and mention it ? or it will not creat any problem.
June 30, 2019 at 19:09
No problem.
July 1, 2019 at 09:41
Hi Brit
My Case Number Is Soo Far like 1012
Can I get Visa
July 1, 2019 at 20:05
I have no idea of your year, or region, so how can I answer you???
July 1, 2019 at 02:13
Hi Brit, I have a question. I’m a DV Lottery winner case number 2019SA10**. Three weeks ago I had my appointment and, this question has come up. Just got approved and my visa is already issued. Right now I’m single and haven’t yet entered the US. Can I get married before enter the US? Is there a way an hipotetical wife can get to the US with me? She doesn’t have any US visa. I know the question it’s kind of tricky but just want to know if there’s a chance. Thanks for your attention.
July 1, 2019 at 18:39
Hypothetical wife???
Either you are in a genuine relationship or not. Don’t risk your Green Card because you are trying to add someone at this point unless it is 100% genuine!
July 1, 2019 at 07:55
Brit,
Would you advice one to querry his AP case status with the embassy before the 60 days lapses. I’ve been in AP for almost a month having filled form ds5535.
July 1, 2019 at 19:46
Some cases can take months in AP. All you can do is wait.
July 1, 2019 at 09:09
Hi Britsimon.
Thank you for your Updates.
I won DV 2019 with Case Number 2019AF41XXX and Submitted my DS-260 way back in January.
I have been making follow ups through the ESC website and CEAC site but mostly there is no feedback on either. I also have not been asked to submit any of my documents and rather received any mail for the same. I have severally written to KCC who have only relied that they are reviewing my Case and that the Cases are number based. I have written to the Embassy here in Nairobi but no response as yet.
Kindly can you advice me on what I can do next since looking at the DV 2019 timeline, I am seeing that my chances are fast diminishing.
Kindly advice. Thank you
July 1, 2019 at 20:03
Contact KCC and ask when they will ask for your documents. Get the documents ready as you may need to act fast!
July 3, 2019 at 03:36
Hi Britsimon,
I have contacted them all they say is to wait. Is it wrong if I send in my documents without receiving the 2nl case number 201941xxx or to just wait.
July 3, 2019 at 03:56
It does not harm to send the documents…
July 11, 2019 at 09:36
Hi Britsimon,
At last they sent me an email requesting for documents. I have two questions for you about. First whatis the likehood of getting the 2nl as documents have already been submitted and secondly do I need the form I-134 filled before then, and who fills it?
July 12, 2019 at 05:37
Wait and see if you get an interview.
The I-134 is taken by you to the interview. Read the FAQ.
July 1, 2019 at 10:49
Hi,
Thanks for the website, very useful.
A question regarding the sequence of events. How soon after your interview (assuming you’re approved) are you required to complete the medical? My understanding is that the 6 month clock for your first entry begins once the medical is completed. Therefore if you’re wanting to extend the process as much as possible it would be in your best interest to delay the medical as long as possible. Any insight or link to an existing article (I wasn’t able to find one) will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks again
July 1, 2019 at 22:47
You have the medical BEFORE the interview.
July 2, 2019 at 09:01
Brit, I think NZDV2020 is asking, once the medical is done…(medicals can be after the interview in some regions – I’m sure):-
The 6 month clock starts ticking on WHICH start point:-
The visa issuance
or
The medical examination date
I would like to know the answer too so good question NZD2020 I think you just made a mistake in explanation
July 2, 2019 at 09:08
I was under the impression if you cross 6 months of the medical it can be invalid after 1 day after the 6th month period or…. “half-versarry”
So the visa may still be valid for a few days extra, for example, but if you cross the 6 month medical “half-verssary” you won’t be admitted as medicals are invalid?
Is that right Brit?
I think that is what NZDV2020 is eluding to and she wants to drag it out as long as possible – is that right NZDV2020?
July 2, 2019 at 13:59
Again, NO.
July 2, 2019 at 13:58
No. Medicals are supposed to be done BEFORE the interview in ALL regions.
The visa expiry date is medical plus 6 months.
July 1, 2019 at 13:17

July 1, 2019 at 13:46
Hi Brits
I have an appointment on the 7th in the Paris embassy.
But i am working in NYC until the 8rh of August. It will be very difficult for me to be in Paris at this date.
Is there a way to schedule the interview?
Thanks
July 1, 2019 at 23:37
You can ask the embassy to reschedule, but there is some risk in that. Your choice.
July 1, 2019 at 15:25
Hello Brit,
Do men has to wear smart casual or business casual for the interview?
This question may seems silly but every little thing bothers me. please help me.

Hi Brits please I wish to know if the bank statement for a selectee who is 18 years should be in the parents name or the name of the selectee
July 1, 2019 at 19:57
HI BRITS! I HAVE A QUESTION ABOUT MY CASE, I HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR ALMOST 4 MONTHS, THE PASSPORT OF MY SON, BUT IT IS VERY DELAYED, AND THE TIME TO GET AN APPOINTMENT IT IS ALMOST OVER, SO I THINKING ABOUT TO TAKE OFF THE DS260 OF MY SON, AND KEEP THE DS260 FORMS ONLY OF MY WIFE AND THE MINE, TO GET THE APPOINTMENT TO THE INTERVIEW, AND THAT MOMENT (HOPING NEXT SEPTEMBER) TO CONSIGN THE PASSPORT OF MY SON AND HIS DS260. IT THAT POSSIBLE?
July 2, 2019 at 20:21
You could try that, OR submit your son’s DS260 using your passport number. They *might* accept the documents without the passport for your son, and that would get you some extra time. I suggest you ask KCC if the latter option is possible, if not – do as you plan.
July 1, 2019 at 20:14
Hi Britt , please can you kindly advice me on what document or form I need to get completed as my affidavit of support . And what supporting documents my sponsor needs to provide?
Many thanks
Cheers
Nady

July 2, 2019 at 05:34
I have no idea what you are talking about. What bioform?
July 2, 2019 at 05:45
Hi Brits please I am 18 years should the bank statement be in my name or that of my parents
July 2, 2019 at 13:45
Yours
July 2, 2019 at 06:39
Hi Simon
How long do you think KCC takes to review the document. Because my case no is current which is 2019AS61## and I submitted my document really late which end of June.
July 2, 2019 at 13:49
You just have to wait to see what happens in your case.
July 2, 2019 at 07:32

July 2, 2019 at 13:51
Education from about age 12
July 2, 2019 at 10:01
Hello Brit,
I have one question. I was selected for DV 2020, and I already submitted my DS. I have girlfriend and we are planing to get married in December. I didn’t mention her as my spouse, because we are not married yet. What should I do when we get married in December? Should I ask to change my DS? Should I mention that on the interview? What should I do?
Thanks.
July 2, 2019 at 14:01
It will depend on your case number (timing of your interview). But yes you would unlock and add her after the wedding.
July 2, 2019 at 11:43
Hi Simon,
Currently i have worked for 3 work places but unfortunately i have misplaced my first job (2007-2011) placement letter and there is no way to prove i have worked for them. so my questions are,
01. did i need to add that first job into DS260 or add rest of the two job i have worked? but my linkedin profile have all the work experience history.
02. should i remove my first job from linkedin? will it be a problem when they reviewing social media?
Thanks.
July 2, 2019 at 14:02
1. Add all employment info.
2. No!
July 2, 2019 at 11:43
Dear brit
if one derivative health problem issues denial all visa ?
my and child interview is scheduled in last july (i am principal applicant) and my wife reschudled after cleared medical report estimated time early August?
July 2, 2019 at 14:03
No, you can discuss this with the CO. You could choose to have the visas issued for all others apart from your wife and then hers could be issued later.
July 2, 2019 at 11:44
Hello,
I have questions regarding the documents that need to be emailed to KCC. The email of the documents required includes this msg:
“Documents Required for All Applicants:
Copy of passport biodata page (no translation required)
Birth certificate
Military records for any applicant who has previously served in the military
Police certificates for applicants 16 years of age or older from all required countries
If you have been convicted of a crime, a certified copy of each court record and any prison record”
1. I havent served in the military as the military is voluntary in my country. Do I have to send some certificate that I haven’t served, or only if I served in the military I should send such document?
July 2, 2019 at 14:04
1. No.
July 2, 2019 at 15:59
Hiya Simon. Thanks for the answer.
With “No” ….You mean I dont need to send such certificate if I havent served in military?
July 2, 2019 at 17:55
Correct.
July 2, 2019 at 11:53
Hi Brit,
Currently i have living in two places. from 5 years weekdays (in a rented house for working purposes) and from more than 15 years weekdays (in my home). so what would be my present address? should i need to give my present address as my home and NO for “Have you lived anywhere other than this address since the age of sixteen?”
July 2, 2019 at 14:04
“In my home”. There.
July 2, 2019 at 13:19
Hello Sir
Sorry for writing to you again i was watching the video you posted on your site regarding the last interview dates they will give out for September i already submitted all the documents they require Sir on Friday 28th of June and today i called them to ask if everything is good as you told us to check in the video but they told me they do not know because another department is taking care of that and they cannot know anything i am really scared that they might not schedule my interview is there anything else i need to do or all i can do now is wait? Also my DS-260 is complete and up until now i have done all you told us and all they asked from me let me know please.
Thanks a lot
July 2, 2019 at 14:46
Just wait a few days and ask again.
July 2, 2019 at 13:29
Hi brit. I have a ready for schedule mail from kcc and now I have a new born baby in the family. Do I have to unlock my ds260 at this point to include the child or wait and inform the embassy if schedule? Thank you.
July 2, 2019 at 14:47
You probably can’t unlock at this point – contact KCC and explain.
July 2, 2019 at 13:33
Hi Brit I have some querries… I submite my Ds 260 last yaer june my case is 2019AF39XXX Up to this moment no any response or any email requesting me to attach documents. But arlaedy attached my documents twice since when I amde a call they said they didnt received them yet. QN 2 Today I have found out that on my spouse birth certicate there is the tradional name and I he answered No any other names assigned. Do you think it is the right time to ask them to unlock the form DS 260 and we correct it? Thanks
July 2, 2019 at 14:48
No. Deal with that in the interview. You do need to check if they are satisfied with the documents you sent however.
July 2, 2019 at 14:04
update….Now I have received my email to send them my doccuments. Can I go ahead and ask them to unlock DS 260 for writing an additional names? because that name is a tradional name doesn’t appear in any of my document. it is arther on my birth certicate
July 2, 2019 at 17:42
I already told you not to unlock.
July 2, 2019 at 15:33
hi brit….my ds 260 was being filled i was in boarding school and so my father asked the cyber man to fill the form because my father was not familiar with such knowledge..the cyber man filled my date of birth as 1999 instead of 2000..is there any problem if i tell the co that i was detained in school and i did not get a chance to fill the form.I have already been scheduled for the interview on august 8th
July 2, 2019 at 17:52
It would not normally be a problem IF you corrected it on the DS260.
July 2, 2019 at 23:01
Hi, I apologise Mr. Brit for this reply. As he told you it’s not problem if you did correction on ds260. But if the mistake still until now, and the Co consider the cyber guy as the (disapproved) agent, then that may create problems as is explained by MR BRIT in the DV Lottery guide.
Mr BRIT Please correct me if I am wrong.
July 3, 2019 at 00:04
They don’t refuse a case *simply* because an agent completed the form. BUT if the agent made mistakes, the applicant is responsible for those mistakes.
July 5, 2019 at 07:59
I emailed the embassy and the mistake was corrected but in my ds 260 i answered ‘No’ when i was asked if i involved a second party. Now i dont know what excuse ill give at the embassy.Any advice you can give me mr Brit
July 5, 2019 at 17:15
Advice: Stop telling lies. Really.
July 6, 2019 at 08:48
can i still update my ds 260 before the interview date
July 6, 2019 at 11:33
If scheduled, no.
July 2, 2019 at 15:53
Hi I miswrite my wife date of birth in d260 form and put February 02 instate of February 10 which show correct in all her document such as birth certificate, pasport, and merriage certificate. I already have my interview scheduled on August 20
What I should do?
July 2, 2019 at 17:54
Not much else to do apart from attend the interview.
You could email the embassy in advance explaining the mistake. If she is the derivative, it should not be a problem.
July 2, 2019 at 16:04
Hello Brit, I was selected for the DV 2019, My case number is 9xx, I just found out on may, I sent the DS260, then the KCC sent me an email explaining the next step to follow that is to send the documents. The situacion is that weeks ago I sent the documents required and on june 21 I received the response on an email that I sent, saying that all the documents were received and are correct.
But I have not receive any news about the date of the interview or the next step to follow. I am worried beacause my case is from 2019, and what I have read is that the interviews ends on september 2019, so just tree months ahead.
My wife and I are currently living in Barcelona, so we need to make arrangements to travel to Madrid for the doctor and the interview appointment. I am worried that we wouldnt have enough time and lost this opportunity.
What would you recommend me to do?
July 2, 2019 at 17:57
Relax. You could not have been interviewed before no. The final interviews (for September) will be sent in the second half of this month.
July 2, 2019 at 17:09
Hello Simon. My mum is permanent resident in the US (she lives in maryland) and she has applied for me to have a green card as her son( Am in Cameroon currently) and we are waiting on the judge. The problem is now we want to change my Surname on the form she applied with, before the green card is been issued. So i can have my father surname instead of my step father’s. To avoid doing the complicated process in the future. Please is that possible? . And if yes how can she go about it please.
July 2, 2019 at 18:00
I only answer DV lottery questions.
July 2, 2019 at 18:09

July 2, 2019 at 21:31

Dear Sir /Madam,
I am writing to inform you that in my second notification letter that I received some days ago, you included my three children from my ex wife from whom I divorced in 2015.
I made it clear in my ds260 form that I have children from my first marriage but I will not be able to take them with me to the USA. This is because I don’t have the right of custody over them. It’s their mother ( my ex-wife spouse) who have the whole right of children custody which means that I cannot take them with me anywhere. That is why I included just my and my spouse’s information in my ds260 form. I also sent our documents the two of us to the Kentucky consular center.
Therefore, I would like you to correct this misunderstanding in my 2NL if it is possible. I would be very thankful if you can find a solution to my problem. From my part. I will provide all the necessary documents which prove my divorce 1nd and the right of children custody of my ex-spouse the day of my interview.
I am looking forward to hearing from you soon.
Best Regards.

Why do you keep asking me as if I am making the appointments??
Just attend the interview without the children. Simple as that.

Hello Mr.Brit my interview is coming up in a month and I’m currently in a different country from my interview place. My question is, is it possible to do my medical check up here, or does it have to be in the same country? Thank you!

Must be the same country.

Hello BritSimon… DV2020 OC4__) question…
We have been selected for further processing and believe we might get an interview this time. We weren’t so lucky in a previous year (DV2018 OC 14__ and missed out by 41 case numbers! )
Anyway, my questions for you…
1. Our daughter was born in the USA and has a US passport. She is still one of our derivatives and listed under our name as joining us in the USA. When we fill in her information on the DS260, do we use her USA passport or her Australian one. Clearly, she is entitled to enter without too much hassle. I remember last time we completed the DS260, the system seemed to baulk at the idea of her being a US citizen so I think I listed her Australian passport first and THEN her US one. Do you think this is ok? I’m sure there have been other situations like this, but I would just like clarification if that’s ok.
2. Does she need to get a medical when our number becomes current and we (hopefully) get our 2NL? We are assuming no but would like to make sure we have everything covered.
Thanks for all you do – your help has been such an assistance both THIS time and last time. I also very much like the YouTube channel you are using as well.
Thanks,
Ched from Down-under

1. You do NOT complete a DS260 for her. You just list her as your child not emigrating with you.
2. No

Hi Mr Brit accept my humble greetings, good morning sir, 2019AF39*** lately I discovered that my passport is having an error at the level of my sex, they put my sex as female instead of male. It was discovered by the medical doctor when I went for my medical examination.my case has been scheduled for interview . please help me. 1 can I apply for correction of my sex, so that I can take both passport for interview? 2 will it not affect my visa chances if I take two passport for interview with different sex and the same date of issue but different passport numbers?
