Hello brit, I’m married and I won the lottery 2020 and my husband doesn’t have money to process for 2 of us and if he processes my documents alone, how long will it take him to join me in USA?
August 30, 2019 at 13:54
It could take 2 years, and it would be a lot more expensive and complex.
August 30, 2019 at 11:55
Hi Simon, my wife and I just submitted our DS-260 to be processed in Frankfurt. Our case number is 2020EU00042XXX, so that is quite high. First, do you think we should be worried about not getting interviewed before the fiscal deadline with such a number? Second, based on your experience, what would be your rough estimation in which month we can hope for an interview? Thank you again for your tremendous help, I hope the donation reached you! Best, Philip
August 30, 2019 at 14:06
I think you’ll get current, but it will not be until mid 2020. I wrote some predictions and explanations here: https://britsimonsays.com/dv2020-further-analysis-and-predictions/
And in fact you should read all of my posts from July.

Hi Sir, do we know when on the website we are going to see the open and closing dates for DV Lottery 2021?
August 30, 2019 at 20:03
It will be announced around the end of September.
August 31, 2019 at 01:24
Hello Simon!! Thank you for everything. Many people with a big CN (like 2020EU40*** and more) are sending their documents scans to KCC without an any requests (I mean requests letters).. They have a regular answer as others. What is your opinion about it? And should I will follow their example (my number is 2020EU37***)?
August 31, 2019 at 04:13
It’s silly. It means your documents are old and makes absolutely no difference to the speed of scheduling.
August 31, 2019 at 02:03
Any chances for 14k from AS region
August 31, 2019 at 04:14

August 31, 2019 at 04:39

This mistake gone by the local registrar and I was also inform in kcc about this mistake date of married certificate .What genuine way i will bring in my interview ? Is this case have risk for me?
August 31, 2019 at 04:47
So now you have asked me about mistakes on the address and marriage date and education. It seems like you make a lot of mistakes – and that represents a risk because they may not trust anything you write or say.
August 31, 2019 at 05:20

August 31, 2019 at 16:23
What is the question?
August 31, 2019 at 16:51
Hello Brit,
I’m qualifying with my Education. When the DS260 form is submitted Work Experience information is required, so does it mean even though I’m qualifying with Education, proof of work experience is required? Do i have to have my work experience on hand?
Thank You!
August 31, 2019 at 20:17
In that case, Proof is not required, but you list it on your DS260. But you also won’t be disqualified for having documents “just in case” you need them.
August 31, 2019 at 18:05

Hello Brit and everyone in the forum. Please I really need your help on this one because am really worried and confused. Am 2019af46xxx and scheduled for mid September and please I dont if cameroonians are in this forum to help me with their experience. My question relates to the translation of birth certificate. I wish to ask Mr. Brit and anyone who can help me on this i will be very greatful. Please Brit do yoi have any idea on the competent authority who can help me translate my birth certificate in english in Cameroon?? Thanks and waiting for your reply
September 1, 2019 at 04:43
ANYONE can do that as long as they can sign saying they are competent to do so.
September 1, 2019 at 18:59
Except your birth certificate is in another language other than French, you are OK. You don’t need to translate your birth certificate into English if it is in French. Cameroon has two official languages – English and French. If your birth certificate is in French, no need to worry. I am speaking from experience.
September 1, 2019 at 01:50

September 1, 2019 at 13:06
I only answer DV questions
September 1, 2019 at 12:42
Hi Simon & everyone.
I saw the other thread that KCC sends an email like this one, asking for the scanned documents below.
Documents Required for All Applicants:
• Copy of passport biodata page (no translation required)
• Birth certificate
• Military records for any applicant who has previously served in the military
• Police certificates for applicants 16 years of age or older from all required countries
• If you have been convicted of a crime, a certified copy of each court record and any prison record
In my country the courts issue certificates for ” PERSON HAS NOT BEEN CONVICTED OF A CRIME” which is used also with competences for a prison records.
But the email of KCC says “if you have”… so i have not been convicted of a crime , should i send a certificate issued by our courts in my country that I “have not been convicted of a crime” ?
September 1, 2019 at 13:09
Read the reciprocity page for your country
September 1, 2019 at 12:44
Hi Simon! I’m not sure if you’ll know the answer for that question but I’ll try as embassy is really hard to contact to.
Do you think every embassy will accept a payment for the interview in dollars? I have interview in London embassy and I know it will be quite a loss if I’ll pay with my british card. I want to exchange money for dollars but then I won’t have anything on my account available to eventually pay if I couldn’t use dollars. Can you please give me an advice?
September 1, 2019 at 13:10
They accept dollars.
September 1, 2019 at 12:48
Hello,
I have 2 other questions.
1. As posted in the other thread by Simon, the video for Public Charge, I believe until my interview date I will have the sufficient money for me and my family on an annual bank statement and at the same time Im seeing to find a job. (both me and my wife are working here, and I have a MSc degree while my wife a BSc degree from universities)
Combining these two, is it a strong/good prove that I wont be a public charge in US?
2. I heard at embassies they ask for notarized letter of employment. How does it look like a notarized letter of employment in the US ? Does Simon or anybody have a sample ? Should this letter be sent to some institution in the US or just be send to me and I would present it to embassy at the inerview day?
Thanks in advance
September 1, 2019 at 13:13
1. Maybe. You have defined it as ‘sufficient’.
2. Any US employer will know what to produce.
September 1, 2019 at 13:33
Simon i meant sufficient reading the poverty guidelines.
I meant, more specifically $25000 and a job offer for my wife as principal and a job offer for me as derivative, do you think would be fine ? Whats your view on this.
September 1, 2019 at 14:37
Should be.
September 1, 2019 at 15:01
Dear Brit while reviewing my application I noticed couple of things and need your advice,
1. There was a question whether I worked for any social, professional or charitable organizations, previously I worked for 2 different NGOs, and I mentioned them in my form, but ticked NO to the question, what should I do Dear Brit?
2. In one of the NGOs I was paid cash, is that a problem?
Thanks in advance.
September 1, 2019 at 16:24
1. You should correct the form.
2. I doubt it will come up.
September 1, 2019 at 16:45
In my country there are a lot of people who were paid cash during that years. And would like to mention that I am qualified with education, so it could be a reason for denial?
September 2, 2019 at 17:26
No need to overthink this. It’s simply important to have an accurate form.
September 2, 2019 at 17:55
Thank you Dear Brit, so I am overthinking as it will be the 5th time . Hope not to get denial because of this. Thanks again
September 1, 2019 at 17:17
Thanks for your reply,
Do you think better to unlock the form for correction or at the interview, I have asked them to unlock the form couple of time 2 months ago. My CN is 2020EU7***
September 1, 2019 at 15:17
hi brit, is the choice of a job that requires diplomas to be able to cause a refusal of visa by consule. (question of ds260:un which occupation do you intend to workin the usa), the second question: is the document I 134 + a statement of bank account can guarantee not to be considered as a public office knowing that I am a single student in master (age 29 ,with no work History)
September 1, 2019 at 16:26
1. No.
2. No. There is not a guarantee.
September 1, 2019 at 17:42
Hi mr simon
What about second draw?
Yes or no
September 2, 2019 at 17:27
Still maybe.
September 1, 2019 at 19:14

D260 form having gajurel and birth certicate having dahal as my mother surname. She got gajurel by birth and dahal after marriage
September 2, 2019 at 17:33
No problem.
September 1, 2019 at 22:43
Hi dear Simon
My question today is about the Documents , if KCC asked to submit the documents , should i translate them to English ?
Thanks for all the great work you are doing
September 2, 2019 at 17:36
The request from KCC says exactly what to do.

September 2, 2019 at 00:43
Hi Brit i would like to know if there is a New instruction for the prevent dv 2021. In the form it askS the number of the passport
September 2, 2019 at 17:39
The instructions have not been published yet, but yes there is a good chance they will now ask for a passport number.
September 2, 2019 at 09:34
Hey Brit,
Hope everything is going well.
Case # 2020EU24XXX
I’m finishing up my DS 260 and have a couple more questions:
1) In 2015/2016 I have attended some private music courses in California, at a school called Dubspot (that is permanently closed now), and I’ve never received a diploma. Should I list them in the education section as well? Even if I was on a b1/b2 visa that was revoked before my O1 the following year? (I remember at the 01 interview the CO saying that I should have been on a student visa while attending these classes)
2) While attending these courses, I lived in the US for more than 6 months that year. Should I then count the beginning of that as the date when I started living in the US even if I technically was just a “tourist”?
Thank you so much for your time,
Leo
September 2, 2019 at 17:43
1. That’s not really considered education.
2. Be accurate.
September 2, 2019 at 10:15
Hello Brit, I am writing from Freetown, a friend had told me the next DV Lottery registration (October 2019), we must provide the passport number necessarily?
He told me if i have not Passport i will not register ?
September 2, 2019 at 17:47
That is probably true, since there has been a law change, although we have NOT seen the official instructions for DV2021 yet.
September 2, 2019 at 11:06
Military records for any applicant who has previously served in the military. Pls Brit do i need this if am still serving? Thanks
September 2, 2019 at 17:48
Yes. And if you are serving you will have to clarify how you will leave the military.
September 2, 2019 at 13:00
Hey Brit,
Hope everything is going well.
i have try several times to fill my DS-260 but it is on and off please is there any problem with the website?
Thanks
September 2, 2019 at 17:51
There have been outages, yes. Be patient.
September 2, 2019 at 14:38
please am a 2019 dv winner and have my processes my application and my interview date has been given which is on 10th of this month and i applied with my senior high certificate on which i had d7 in one of my core subjects which is not a fail but a pass can i be given a visa and also after the submission i realized that had other certificate i should have added but failed to add. i want to know if the one i submitted would be accepted or can i go to the interview along with the one did not submit . Thank you .
September 2, 2019 at 17:51
Take everything to the interview.
September 2, 2019 at 14:52
I want to know why much emphasis wasn’t made about grates but just the certificate mean why most applicants are being denied visa due to. one or two fails on their certificate.
Thank you.
September 2, 2019 at 17:53
They apply a standard to be roughly the same as a US High school education. THat could be specified to grades in some countries.
September 2, 2019 at 15:10
Hi Brit,
First of all, thanks a lot for your nice advice!
Eventually and despite travel ban, we got our visa for my family and myself (DV2019). Though in the beginning, it looked almost impossible, then in my opinion they gave some relaxations.
As per, presidential proclamation having brother in the USA, is not considered as a waiver, but in the end they approved our waiver. In fact, we had some other points, yet I do not know whether they had any weight for our case or not, being away from Iran for 6-7 years and having kid at school here who cannot study in our native language etc.
Anyway, once more thank you and I hope soon I will find the time to write some words about interview as well.
September 2, 2019 at 17:54
Interesting case – and congratulations. It must have been more a combination of some of the factors you mention.
September 2, 2019 at 15:33
Dear Britsimon,
Thank you all for your informative advices for all of us, i still have one question for you as follows
I filled in DS260 form my cousin address as my intended sponsor, but he used to already sponsor another person in the previous year so he can not sponsor me this year. But I have another friend living in another state who will do the sponsorship for me. My question is: Can i change the sponsor in the interview by my close close friend instead of my cousin, because I used to unlock my DS260 form 1 time already and I really do not want to unlock another time to change the name and address of my sponsor in my DS260 form. in another hand, my case number is now close to visa bulletin also.
I am looking forwards to hearing from you soon,
I really feel grateful to you for all your help for all of us.
September 2, 2019 at 17:55
Yes you can change at the interview. The sponsor is not necessarily the same person whose address you gave in the DS260, so in fact you have NOT told them who your sponsor is.
September 2, 2019 at 15:34
Hello Brit,
i live in the country which i mentioned in the Ds-260 form. But now i got a job offer to work in another country and i’m about to accept it. So, is there any need to contact KCC to unlock the form and add these updates?
Thanks in advance ❤️
September 2, 2019 at 17:58
Once there you can add the new address, and you will therefore interview in that country.
September 2, 2019 at 18:46
What if i want to interview in my country of origin?
September 2, 2019 at 19:32
They choose the country of interview based on your current address.
September 2, 2019 at 19:49
Hi Simon,
What do you mean by “They choose the country of interview based on your current address.”? Currently, I’m in the US on F1 Visa, but want to be interviewed in my country of origin, as I don’t know if I am able to extend my Visa in summer 2020 (suppose my interview to be somewhere in summer).
September 3, 2019 at 03:15
In your case you have to tell KCC you want to have your interview in your home country. That is peculiar to people living in the USA.
September 2, 2019 at 16:30
Hi Brit,I’m DV2020 selectee and I submitted my DS260 application as the principal applicant. At the E- sign step it asks PP number and the case number. I provided them. But my question is It asks the PP number and the case number when I try to submit my wife’s DS260(derivative). At that time do I need to provide my PP number or wife’s PP number?
September 2, 2019 at 18:10
Whoever is signing…
September 2, 2019 at 17:03
No your case number and your wife’s passport number thanks
