Hello. When filling my Ds 260 I was half married and divorced. So I have a certicate of divorce that is with my ex. However I made a mistake on the date of our wedding in the ds. Will it cause me a problem during the day of the interview when I report it to the embassy?
September 6, 2019 at 13:53
You cannot be half married or divorced. You are either married OR divorced. Not telling the accurate truth can cause problems.

Hello sir, My Husband is DV Winner and in my school to degree’s certificate’s surname is Dangol but my citizenship, passport, birth proof certificate and marriage certificate as my surname is (Dangol Maharjan) it is a same cast and my parents citizenship is only Dangol and my husband surname is Shrestha so it is any problem sir what should i need to do please i need genuine suggestions. Thankyou.
September 3, 2019 at 03:21
Make sure the DS260 name is accurate. Then for the school certificates, think about what additional proof you can provide to show the documents are yours.

Hello, if I receive one time use visa, can I work in America?
Or when I receive greecard, can I work in America?
September 3, 2019 at 16:08
The one time use visa admits you as a Lawful Permanent Resident (LPR). An LPR can work straight away. The Green Card will follow later, but you can work in the meantime.

Hello Britsimon
My CN is 2020AF37*** , I played as single without child , my fiancee gave birth after the entry on February 2019. Because I play single without child and I don’t want to travel now with my kid and his mum I answer *no* in my ds260 to the question * do you have any children ? * I have unlocked once my ds260 and I have sent my documents and have received the email of satisfaction of kcc. … By reading your blog, I later understand that I have to answer *yes* even if I don’t want to travel with my child now but later. My question is…
Do I need to unlock again my ds260 to correct my answer to *yes* or wait to go to the interview with my kid’s birth certificate and notify to the consular officer that I have child after the entry ??
Thank you
September 4, 2019 at 04:30
Unlock and correct.
September 3, 2019 at 04:06

September 3, 2019 at 16:07
Is that a question? Please be more clear.
September 5, 2019 at 14:03
I thinkyour husband surname is added to your name after marriage isn’t it?
September 3, 2019 at 05:41
Hi Simon!
Had my interview . 2019AF40404. But really worried.
Here is the thing.. the interview was held in Manila ( Philippines ) . This country is ineligible to participate to DV lottery so the embassy has almost no case like mine.
The CO mentioned it’s the first time she handles this type of case.
She asked for all my originals documents except my financials proof and I-134.
I have a master in IT and some certificates in networking .
She said everything looks good and she would print my visa today but since they don’t have that type of visa here , they will request for a visa number from my country of origin . She kept all my documents and passport and said as soon as they have the visa they will print and send my docs back to me. I asked for a timeframe but she said she doesn’t know but she is scared since we got few weeks before September 30.
1. Did you encounter this type of scenario ?
2. Is the communication between embassies fast ?
3. Is it not a way to delay the approval?
What are your thoughts?
Thanks for your response .
September 3, 2019 at 16:11
You are worrying for no reason. Relax.
September 3, 2019 at 07:23
Simon I was born in Uae my case number AF because iam Sudanese and I live in Sudan the question of country of Eligibilty I do it Sudan because my dad and Mum ween I was born in Uae they are in a holiday only with tourists visa ,, my approve of this in my birth certificate,, dad and Mum live and stay in Sudan ?????
Is this a good approve that my country of Eligibilty is Sudan
September 3, 2019 at 07:52
Because I read in instruction for the 2020 diversity immigrant visa program (dv2020) in page 8. if there Mum and dad come with torrist visa u can take there Eligibilty country
September 3, 2019 at 16:36
No. UAE is eligible, so therefore you should have used UAE as your country of chargeability. Given that your parents were only there temporarily, you could try to claim the “missionary exception”, which is eligibility to your parents country. However, in my experience that is almost never approved where the birth country is eligible. So – unless you can afford to gamble the fees, I would recommend you stop processing your case.

Sir, I am DV winner. I just want to know few things. My wife is currently in Australia studying her bachelor, she wants to continue her study there. She doesn’t want to go US right now after finishing her study she wants to join me. Day before yesterday I got mail and I was asked to make police report of me n my wife. Currently I’m in Nepal, I have police report of my wife n mine both made in Nepal. Do I need to make my wife’s police report of Australia too? Thing is that she went to Australia in February this year and she came in April and we got married on April. What should I do?Im confused
September 3, 2019 at 16:43
Have you read the instructions? It will depend how long she has lived in Australia when you interview. If in doubt, get the police cert.

Well first, you can’t pay it at your bank – it is paid online.
Up to you whether you pay before or after arrival.
September 3, 2019 at 10:14
Hello Brit Simon,
Hope you are well.
Am 2020AF000015**
Am hoping for a November interview hence waiting for my 2NL this month….
Have been leaving together with my husband for the last 6 years together and have sired 2 lovely kids, but we officiated our marriage this year in July. I had applied EDV as single but added him in DS 260.
1. What date should i have put of when we got married? I put the July one. Is it correct?
2. If may be not correct, could it be too late to unlock and change?
NOTE; i had included our children in EDV and the reason why i entered as single is coz we were not legally married and hence just lived as gal/boy friend
September 3, 2019 at 20:08
1. The truth is always correct.
2. There is plenty of time.
September 4, 2019 at 05:31
Thanks Brit for your reply.
But i did’nt really get your first answer… We were leaving together thats true, but we officiated our marriage July which is also true. Which truth do i go with in my case?
September 4, 2019 at 20:35
When you got married. Living together is not a marriage date.
September 5, 2019 at 07:36
Thank you Simon. Bless
September 3, 2019 at 10:41
Hi Brit, I’m AS18XX for DV2020. I have submitted DS260 for me and my wife. I know I have long waiting time. But Is there any documents to prepare during the mean time? and next step is receiving a mail from KCC asking the documents?
September 3, 2019 at 20:08
Yes you could be preparing some documents. First, read the official instructions.
September 4, 2019 at 04:17
Official Instructions means this site. https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/immigrate/diversity-visa-program-entry.html. right?
September 4, 2019 at 04:24
Yes
September 3, 2019 at 11:09
hellp, brit.
how i can unblock my ds 260 form.
It still has an erorr on the site, when I want to open.
I lost my date of birth on ds 260 form i tried to open it.
now it is blocked.\
Can you help
September 3, 2019 at 20:10
I’m not clear whether you are saying there is a problem with the DS260 or your data. But either way, I can’t unblock your form.
September 3, 2019 at 11:20
Dear Brit,
I am a DV Lottery selectee and have some questions about work experience and education filling DS-260 form. 1. Work experience: I have worked as an Accountant and now I am working as a Technical Writer. I checked whether I was qualifying with work experience on https://www.onetonline.org/ and both were Jobe Zone 4. So should I answer ‘YES’ to “Does this job require at least 2 years of training or experience?” question in my DS-260?
2. I am going to take some credits in Data Science Program in my country State University. I will not get a diploma, as I will not take all the course credits. Instead, if I pass the respective exams, I will get a Certificate from the University. When I get the certificate, does it worth to fill about it in DS-260 form /when of course I have time to unlock the form/?.
September 3, 2019 at 20:11
1. Yes
It’s up to you. I don’t think it will be important.
September 7, 2019 at 06:25
Thank you for your time and reply.
September 3, 2019 at 11:32
Hi Brit
I passed my interview one month ago and submitted all documents that the consulate asked. Til now I am on AP and they dont call me. And the time is going.
What will happen to us if they dont call us til 30 septembet.
September 3, 2019 at 14:43
Hi Brit. I have spent my interview in a week with my husband but my husband will not have time to go for the interview because he has an urgent program in his business. can I go alone to do the interview?
September 4, 2019 at 00:47
So your husband is going to prioritize his work, that he will be quitting anyway, over a life changing opportunity to get a Green Card. That is crazy. Yes you can go alone, but it’s a very silly idea.
September 3, 2019 at 20:12
If your case is not resolved by 9/30 you will lose your chance.
September 4, 2019 at 13:10
Hamid,
I guess you carry only Iranian passport and unfortunately that entitles you to the travel ban that is why there is no progress on your file
September 3, 2019 at 13:05
Someone please help me. From Kenya, how long is the police certificate of good conduct valid for?
September 4, 2019 at 00:42
Technically either 6 months or a year depending on where you live now. The instructions make that clear. BUT it is better to get a refreshed copy if possible.
September 4, 2019 at 12:59
Valid for one-year..if you apply it this month it means it will expire same month next year..
September 6, 2019 at 19:08
1 year
September 3, 2019 at 15:12
Hi Simon,
After receiving my DV1 visa I entered the US in May but stayed only for a weekend before returning to my home country to complete arrangements towards my planned move early next year.
I did not receive since May my social security card to the US address I provided.
When calling the SSA hotline they could not provide any useful information. I also went to the SSA office at the US embassy here and they said they need my actual green card in order to issue a social security card, and said that my visa is expired which is obviously not true since I entered the US on time and have the stamp in my passport.
I have another meeting with them tomorrow morning. Is there a any advice on how to convince them to at least provide me my SSN if not an actual card before I travel again to the US in a few months?
Thanks,
Avner
September 4, 2019 at 00:49
It is easier to do that while you are in the country. They are masters at encouraging people to go away, so you kust have to call them out when they say silly things like you mention above.
September 3, 2019 at 16:31
Hi Brits..
Done with my interview on 22nd August ..all seems good..pcc from country of birth came late, so went in to AP, now submitted that too…on 30th August…any suggestions when will AP change…
September 4, 2019 at 00:51
No. Just a matter of patience.
September 3, 2019 at 18:56
Hello Brits, I had my interview today and I have been put on AP but I wasn’t told why I was put there. The consular Officer told me everything should be fine but if they need anything they’ll reach me. I want to know from you if I still have a chance or very slim chance now? AF8*** for DV2019
September 4, 2019 at 00:53
How can I guess?
September 3, 2019 at 19:37
Hello Britsimon
Thank you
September 4, 2019 at 00:56
Correct it now – because you did not tell the truth.
September 4, 2019 at 11:34
Hey Brit! I’m 2020Af193*** According to Diny’s question, I and my wife have accepted that I should travel first and she’ll come later on as she’s still winding up with her exams which is November next year.. So on the question of are you travelling with your wife I answered *no* but she’ll travel on the later date.
1. Is there any problem with that?
2. When should I expect my 2nl
3. After receiving the 2nl should I still process her docs or I leave them.
4. Is she needed to attend medical.
I unlocked the Ds260 and made all necessary changes to me.
5. Shall they question me about these changes I made?
You said there will be another draw.
6. Is it possible that our 2NLs will come earlier than expected?
Thanks to you in Advance.
September 4, 2019 at 21:31
1. It’s daft. If you don’t process her through DV it means you will have to sponsor her under an I130 case – which will be expensive and take a long time. A beter plan would be to both attend the DV interview around July/August of 2020 then she can join you in the USA when her exams finish.
2. Only after you submit the DS260, submit documents and get current. But as I mentioned – I suggest you cause a delay by delaying your DS260 or documents.
3. See 1
4. Yes if you go with my suggested plan.
5. No
6. Depends on what you expect. But again – see 1.
September 5, 2019 at 02:15
Thank you for your suggestion Brit. I really appreciate though I submitted the ds-260 today depending on your analysis of the less numbers this year SO I thought of the earlier the better.
So I now need your guidance in the new path I’ve taken already, if it’s a mistake, we made, please stand with us and help us go through it still.
So please,
1. Will I still need to carry my wedding Album, and other proof of marriage with me to the interview?
2. I have already made a daft decision but it’s the time I need you most again. I need to know what it will now require me to travel her after the 2years because I can’t unlock it for the second time.
3. Which challenges do you think I may face ahead so that I can prepare for them?
May God bless you and your family.
September 5, 2019 at 02:54
All you need to do is delay submission of your documents. Then unlock. There is no problem with that.
1. Maybe.
2. Again. Follow my suggestion.
3. One challenge you might face is not following my suggestions.
September 5, 2019 at 06:13
I’m very happy about your sincere consideration for my questions.
But now, for example, I’ve failed to unlock because she has a lot of things to do here in uganda for about 2 years inclusive of her graduation.
1. What do I need to have for my approval.
2. Apart from the complex process of taking her on a later date, what other challenges will I face for myself?
Thank you.
September 5, 2019 at 12:55
1. I can’t answer such vague questions.
2. Again – too vague.
September 5, 2019 at 10:04
Lubanga
Is your number in the 19 thousands or 193 thousand.
September 5, 2019 at 19:45
Hey F2020Af30XXX.
I’m 19 thousands. I’m from Ug. You can email me on [email protected] to keep ourselves posted.
September 6, 2019 at 06:24
That’s great and a good number. So its 193XX not 193XXX
I will be in touch shortly
September 3, 2019 at 20:13
Hi brit this year i applied for f1 visa but got rejected so i want to apply for dv lottery is there any risk to be denied too
September 4, 2019 at 00:59
Maybe. It depends why uyou were denied. But look – the lottery is just a lottery. Not a plan.
September 3, 2019 at 20:40
Hello Brit, after our interview the consular put us on AP because he said he wanted to verify my husband’s Al’s, the next day our status was updated to issued. My question now is do we go to the embassy to pickup our visas and other documents or do we wait to receive a call or mail from them? Thanks
September 4, 2019 at 01:00
Wait for them to contact you.
September 3, 2019 at 22:27
Hi Simon , I am a DV winner and I have gone through my ducument, I should go for my first medical tomorrow, the problem is that I only have four credit when I sat my wassce exams

Dv 2019 waiting for interview
Should my sponsor include my son who is a U.S citizen already living in the U.S in the form I_134?
September 4, 2019 at 04:29
If you are in doubt, include the child.
September 4, 2019 at 01:53
Hello Brit. I need a clarification here. Let’s suppose about DV-2020. The FY starts Oct 1, 2019, and ends Sept 30, 2020. Suppose you got a VERY high number and were given your DV visa in the FY’s very last months, let’s say August/September 2020.
1) Is it mandatory to enter the USA BEFORE the fiscal year of you DV ends?
2) Provided you don’t have medical expiration issues, Do they issue the visa for up to 6 months always? Even in the last months of the FY?
3) If so, You would be able to enter up to six months from the date of issuance , for instance theorically this could be untill the frist months of 2021. Am I right?
I am Thankkful for your help always. You. Thank you for everything you do here. You rock!
Gustavo.
September 4, 2019 at 04:28
1. No. By the expiry date on the visa which is medical date PLUS 6 months.
2. See 1.
3. Yes
September 4, 2019 at 07:03
Hi Brit,
I had my interview yesterday for the 2019 lottery at the Sydney consulate and was confirmed by the consulate officer that I was ‘good to go’ and approved for the diversity visa. They have my passport and everything. I checked today on CEAC and they said my case was going through administrative processing. Should I be concerned about this or am I panicking for no reason?
September 4, 2019 at 20:36
Panicking for no reason probably. Read the FAQ.
September 4, 2019 at 07:05
Hello britsimon,

2)can u give me the official link for greencard application this yera?
3)what is the deadline date for 2021 dv lottery apply?
4) Are there any big changes in 2021 compared to 2020 dvlotter application ?
September 4, 2019 at 20:38
1. No
2. https://dvlottery.state.gov
3. It opens in October for about a month.
4. Yes. You will need a passport to enter. https://britsimonsays.com/big-changes-coming-to-the-dv-lottery/
September 4, 2019 at 07:43
Dear Brits How are U?
– I entered to U.S with my former address of my sponsor ..now I got her changed her address . I payed for GC today,, I fill an Address while filling for GC but it says Billing Address ..Where do u think my GC mailed to??
2.. How can I change my Address ??
September 4, 2019 at 20:40
1. The address on the DS260
2. Change at the POE.
September 4, 2019 at 23:19
Dear Brit I already entered to U.S …… But found her changed her Address……
September 5, 2019 at 01:54
So it will get sent to the old address…
September 4, 2019 at 08:16
Hi Simon!
We have been scheduled for october.
We double or even triple check our ds-260, we have translated our docs, everything is ready. We have been researching all the possible info and chats on dvlottery. I even asked you couple of questions, thank you very much for the answer.
But still we are worried sick. This is my lifetime dream to go to the U.S. My head is not in the clouds, that the first years will not be pretty. I’m ready whatever it takes to go through. But i don’t know what would happen with me, if we get refused… This is just to much for me to bear.
September 4, 2019 at 20:43
Read some of the first hand accounts at the link below. You will read how easy the interviews are – you are probably worrying for nothing.
https://britsimonsays.com/interview-experience-stories/
September 5, 2019 at 11:15
I’m checking your every post and video. It’s just you know, this sinking feeling you get whenever you think about visa or refusal. The ground moves from your feet. I’m trying to handle myself, to keep it strong. But sometimes, it is just devastating.
Just my crazy thoughts, thank you for your support. Keep up, you are doing a great job!
September 5, 2019 at 13:04
Be more positive.
September 4, 2019 at 09:52
Hello Brit, thank you for all the information. 2020 Selectee here and wanted to ask you some questions.
1- What are the yearly response rates. If you didn’t do the calculations for these response rates then how can I calculate them?
2- Why 2018 dv lottery had a response rate of %65 which is way more higher than the previous years?
regards
September 4, 2019 at 20:46
1. It will all change for 2020 because so many more people were disqualified prior to the draw.
2. I assume you are talking about EU. That wasn’t “way higher” – but I did explain the shift in winners toward Eastern EU. Read my archived articles to better understand that.
September 4, 2019 at 10:38
Hello Brit,
i am a 2020 DV winner and my wife newly got TB(tuberculous). and i did not yet submit DS260 will this be an issue for me and my wife, will TB (tuberculous) will cause our visa rejection. could you please help me how should i proceed.
September 4, 2019 at 20:48
Delay DS260 submission for a while and get treatment for her.
September 5, 2019 at 15:44
Thanks Brit for answering my Question.
Her treatment started a month ago and she will treat 5 months more means her treatment will finish in January 2020 can i submit DS260 in Feb 2020 will it not be late. my case number is 2020AS304xx.
Thank you.
September 6, 2019 at 13:55
That will be fine.
September 4, 2019 at 11:37
Hello sir .If I select High school no degree do I have a chance to win.I will get my high school diploma next summer(June 2020).I am confused about whether writing Degree or no degree? In which it is okay? In official insturictions it says you should qualify by the end of the fiscal year.Help me out man
September 4, 2019 at 22:27
The selection is random. What you select on the entry regarding education makes no difference to whgether you are selected or not. However, if you are selected, you must meet the criteria either by education OR work experience.
September 4, 2019 at 11:57
Hi Simon,
In your opinion when i can be interview if the case no is 94** from AS Region. i have completed my DS260 on August and i still did not receive any email for document requirement.
September 4, 2019 at 22:29
I’m not sure – wait and see.
September 4, 2019 at 13:44
Dear Mr Simon
I have a question regarding DS260 for DV2020.
I am already qualified by my Education, so in the section of work experience I was asked if my Job requires minimum 2 years experience and I have answered yes.
People told me that this answer could lead you to more questions in the Interview and they may require more documents as experience letter from my previous employers with specific criteria and so on,
Is this right? and if they are right does it mean I have to unlock my DS to correct it knowing that my case no. Is 19K.
Thanks in advance
Osama
September 4, 2019 at 22:36
The people you spoke to are idiots. Ignore them.
September 5, 2019 at 01:48

Brit I commented now cant find my comment. In official site it says you should get your education diploma by the end of the fiscal year.I am getting my diploma in June 2020 .Now Do i qualify? Which should I select during submit? High school degree or no degree?I talk about DV 2021
September 5, 2019 at 01:39
It doesn’t matter. Just pick what you think is most accurate. It does not affect your chance of selection.

can we apply for green card after expired visa in usa
September 5, 2019 at 01:40
Are you asking about adjustment of status?
If so, no you must be in status.
September 4, 2019 at 16:25
Hello Brit,
In your Opinion when I can be interview if the case no is 94** in AS2020 Region. I have submitted my DS260 on August but I did not receive any email from KCC for documenting.
September 5, 2019 at 01:42
Early 2020.
September 4, 2019 at 17:06
Hi Brit,
Once someone becomes a US citizen and would then like to sponsor a family member like a sibling to immigrate to the US, how long does that process take in general?
Many Thanks,
Matt
September 5, 2019 at 01:43
A sibling – around 10+ years.
You can check the timelines on the visa bulletin for each category.
September 4, 2019 at 18:56
Hi Simon, hope you’re going well;
An algerian (born in Algeria) got an EU-Starting Case Number.
what does it mean ?
Thanks & Have a Great day!
September 4, 2019 at 19:00
He Resides in France
September 5, 2019 at 01:45
Ahh – and that would be why he chose France. But unfortunately – that is a serious mistake and will result in disqualification.
September 5, 2019 at 01:44
It means that person entered the country of chargeability of an EU country. If there was no justification for that, disqualification is certain.

Dear Simon, thank you for your information so far. My family and I have gotten our GC. We were from DV2019 we consumed lots of decisive information from your blog. Thank you for that once again. We also are planning to contribute something within our capacity to your blog once we fully function. Saying this I have these questions:
1. Can you share us some employment agencies’ website/address if you have one?
2. Can I apply for student loan right now to continue my education while I am searching for jobs? How that works for me?
Thank you!
September 5, 2019 at 01:47
1. That is very location specific and also a matter of what sort of work you are looking for. Technical software jobs tend to go on sites like Monster.com and Glassdoor – but again – it depends on the role desired.
2. I think so – I am not sure of the specifics about student loans. Best bet would be to talk to a college.
September 5, 2019 at 01:58
Okay thanks for your response. I am an accountant I want to know those agencies for accounting and finance jobs. For now I am at Jacksonville Florida ( dogged Dorian?).
For the loan ok I will ask. But for the jobs sites I am sure you are better than me on how to search.
I know I am consuming your precious time and yet I hope you will find me one.
Thank you again.
September 5, 2019 at 02:07
I think you should find some sites via google. Just enter “accounting jobs florida” – and let the internet do it’s thing…
September 5, 2019 at 11:33
Thank you that I obviously do.

Good evening Mr. Brit. My case number is 2019AF45xxx, I am in Ivory Coast. The visa was refused to me, since I did not come with my Baccalaureat 2019, which stayed at home on the day of the interview scheduled for 03/09/2019. I prefer to come with my BAC Technique. What procedure for showing my BACCALAUREAT 2019 at the Embassy again. Thank you for answering me
September 5, 2019 at 01:50
I don’t know. You will have to contact the embassy and ask them.
September 4, 2019 at 22:45
Is it possible for a 2019 DV winner to enter states after September 30, 2019
September 5, 2019 at 01:52
Yes. The expiry date on the visa is the deadline.
September 5, 2019 at 01:04
Hi Brit, thanks for all you are doing, as formal expertise in the matter is very scarce outside of USCIS (sometimes it seams that even inside one the one as well).
Given that I would appreciate your opinion on my case.
I am on f-1 visa, OPT, now and plan to extend that to STEM OPT early January 2020, while my current employer is committed to apply for H1-B at about the same time.
Meanwhile my wife, F-2 visa holder, has been selected in DV2020 with a CN EU51XXX.
We have not filed DS216 yet as I am afraid that that would form an immigration intent and may affect OPT extension procedure. However we plan to do so as early as extension is granted to follow the AOS path.
My question is, in your opinion, how risky it is to gamble with AOS (given the case number, timeline) and potentially jeopardize H1-B, and currnet F1 status, as I would have to bounce back in either of those in case AOS fails or denied?
Based on your experience in this situation what are the risks and downsides of the following sequence of actions:
1) Apply for OPT extension (October 2019),
2) Get extension (January, 2020),
3) Apply for H1-B (April 2020),
4) Submit DS216 (April 2020),
5) Apply for AOS (as number becomes current, but not later than end of May 2020, since 4 month review)
Thank you very much in advance.
Regards

September 5, 2019 at 04:00
You have to be more clear.
September 5, 2019 at 04:33
Does unlocking and changing sponsor address even after receiving 2NL affects?
September 5, 2019 at 04:53
You cannot unlock after the 2NL
September 5, 2019 at 13:38
Upon detail study, in DS260 we need to fill up the place we intend to live upon arriving US. So can the sponsor/petitioner address be different to the address provided in DS260? Because it will be the place I will live and the address where they will mail my LPR card but my sponsor can be from seperate location, right ?
September 5, 2019 at 13:58
Correct.

Hi Brit,
My ceac status shows “Ready” since 29th Aug, and there have been couple of case updates. I had my interview in mid July and my status was AP till 29th Aug. My case number is 2019AS56**.
Is this normal? Excercising more patience is the better way?
September 5, 2019 at 12:54
Exercising patience is the only option you have.
September 6, 2019 at 13:23
Thanks Brit,
I have a problem and seek your advice. I am a lecturer who visits foreign colleges. Every other week, I fly to one of the three countries I work in.
For the last two months I rescheduled all my lectures. But now I have to take a two day lecture in a foreign country. (my case number is 2019AS56xx)
All my documents including the passport and my wife’s passport are with them.
1. My question is, can I request only for my passport for two days from the embassy? ( if I can get it on next Wednesday, and the following Monday I can handover it again.)
2. The context is, my CEAC status changed from AP to “Ready” since 29th Aug. So, given my case situation, what you could suggest?
3. If I am requesting, what should be my approach?
4. Will it cause any problems for me to obtain the immigrant Visa?
Thank you so much
September 7, 2019 at 04:53
1, You would have to ask the embassy.
2. See 1.
3, Common sense.
4. It depends on what you agree.
September 5, 2019 at 10:13
Hey Brit,
Hope everything is going well.
Case #EU24XXX
I went to request my birth certificates in Italy today, and noticed that on the one showing my parents name, it also shows that I had 2 additional names. Because they were added with a comma after my name, they do not appear on my passport or any other document, and I did not add them on the DS 260. Could that be a problem?
They also offered me to delete them, and request a new one without them appearing, I was wandering if you might suggest that way?
Thank you so much for your help,
Leo
September 5, 2019 at 13:03
These were parents names I assume. You’ll need to decide how to handle it. It is important that the DS260 has your legal name and any other versions of names you may have used. Those names are used in the background checks – so you don’t want to add something by surprise. So – if the extra names have NEVER been used elsewhere (such as passport), you can treat them as not part of your legal name, but should list them on your DS260 other names section.
As for whether to delete them – you have to decide that for yourself. It seems odd that possibility even exists as the birth cert is typically an extract from an original record, from a point in time.

Hello britsimon,
DV2020 selectee Case No 2020AF21***

(2)Dose my husband need to get police good conduct certificate from his country and Where he is now in my Country?

Best regard,
Grace
September 5, 2019 at 13:06
1. As long as the marriage is for genuine reasons and you can demonstrate the relationship is real, no problem.
2. You need to read the instructions. If you had, that question would not be necessary.
3. Early 2020.
4. I don’t know procedures in your country.
September 5, 2019 at 23:33
Thank for the respond Brit..
(1)I haven’t see any information in the instruction that is why I ask if a foreigner who live in another country win the DV 2020 will need police clearance from his/her Country and where his/her won the DV?
(2)If successful DV applicant obtain his/her visa the Green Card fee will be paid before traveling to the United States or you can paid as you arrive in the United States?
Thank sir,awaiting your respond,
Grace
September 6, 2019 at 18:33
1. It has nothing to do with being a foreigner or not. Don’t be lazy. Read the instructions.
2. Either.
September 5, 2019 at 13:49
Hi, Brit.
How much time do we have to fill out our Ds 260 form.
Because of a problem. You did not answer it.
It were Blocked by KCC. I asked them they said you tried from many Computer IPs to open it.
Is there any chance to Unblocked.
Thanks
September 5, 2019 at 13:58
You have until about May of 2020. You can ask KCC if the problem continues.

Hi Simon
Thanks again for your efforts responding to too many inquiries.
I am Egyptian pharmacist working as Medical Sales Representative in pharmaceutical industry.
I am planning to equalize my Pharmacy Degree to have the license to work as pharmacy manager back there in Texas, but the process of equalization takes a long time almost a year and a half.
In my DS260 I answered the question of ” In what occupation you intend to work in the US?” With Medical/Health.
Is that Ok? Or do I have to choose other and write any legal work till getting my License as a pharmacist?
Thanks in advance
September 6, 2019 at 13:50
It’s OK. This is not an important questio for DV cases. You simply say the logical truth.
