Hi brit, interview requires a passport that will not expire at least 6 months. But after June my passport won’t meet that requirement so I want to apply for a new passport. Should I open my ds form to put new passport number or make a surprise at the interview with my new passport?
October 15, 2019 at 16:13
You can open and correct the DS260 OR take old and new passports to the interview. Up to you.

Hello Brit,
I am a Romanian citizen and I would like to apply for this year lottery. I do not have any issues in the application process, but I have a situation and I do not find information regarding. My wife is Mexican and she still can apply under my country, but the issue is that she was living in USA for 4 or 5 years illegal – probably having the 10 years ban- and at the moment she is out of USA for 2 years, which means she will still have the ban at the moment of processing the winners. In the conditions mention above you thing we can still apply? and if eventually we win we will have a chance to finish the process? Maybe you can point me to some information about this issues.
Thank you!
October 15, 2019 at 16:25
She will not be able to process while banned. If she were selected it would be almost impossible. If you are selected and get approved, she might be able to get a waiver, but it is risky.
October 15, 2019 at 13:36
Dear Brit, can I still tourist travel to USA this or the inconming year if I applied for DV Lottery 2021?
October 15, 2019 at 16:25
Yes
October 16, 2019 at 00:02
Does entering the lottery could cause any problem in my tourist entrance to the country or perhabs the aplication for a non-inmigrant visa as B-1 or F-1?
October 16, 2019 at 03:57
No problem at all.
October 16, 2019 at 17:13
Thank you so much

Hi Simon, I have 2 questions:
1) I am divorced with my first wife who I had a son with her, currently I am living with my second wife but illegally and we have kids, I am planning to legalize my second marriage very soon. How can I apply for DV2021 should I say that I am married or I will say that I am single…then if I apply as a single dad and win the DV how will I include my current wife?
2) Can I use passport info of a service passport which I currently have and still valid for 5 years or I need to use a personal passport?
October 15, 2019 at 16:31
1. You would apply as divorced. If you are selected you can marry and add your new wife.
2. I don’t know anything about your service passport – so use your own judgement.
October 15, 2019 at 15:24
Hi Simon,
How long it takes approximately after submitting all the documents to be scheduled for the interview?
October 15, 2019 at 17:40
The timing of the interview is based on the case number.
October 15, 2019 at 16:23
Hi Brit-can’t seem to find an answer to a doubt I have. I will be applying for my family (hubby + 2 kids 14 & 20 at the time of filing). I know the 20 year old has to be included on our application. Can the 20 year old apply on his own independently or will that be viewed as duplicate filing and disqualify our applications? Thank you!
October 15, 2019 at 19:34
Yes he/she can apply independently in addition to your entries.
October 15, 2019 at 16:34
Please, if you mistaken by omitting one alphabetical letter out of your name and you send and confirmation comes before you realize it. What can I do to solve it?
October 15, 2019 at 19:33
If you are a DV selectee, you can unlock and correct that in the DS260.
October 15, 2019 at 17:27
Hello Brit,
I have submitted my DS260 last Mai and I have got married on last September. Thus, I ma sking if I shall update my DS260 if yes, could you please be that kind and advise how/where or share a link where i can find the correct procedure ?
Many thanks in advance for your time and reply
October 15, 2019 at 19:13
If you read the FAQ you will find an article specifically about getting married during the process. Please read the FAQ
October 15, 2019 at 17:31

October 15, 2019 at 17:49

October 15, 2019 at 17:53
Hi Brit I divorced legally with my wife to justice and I have the divorce certificate with me, I want to play this year, I want to know if it’s the divorced button or legal separation I have to choose?
October 15, 2019 at 19:12
If you are divorced – then you select “divorced”. Simple huh.
October 15, 2019 at 18:01
Is there a site or email address to denounce the fraud of those who register with their passports or create fictitious numbers or who choose the exception exception option then They are allowed to have the passport?
October 15, 2019 at 19:11
No.
October 15, 2019 at 18:28
Hello brit. I want to play and I have shot, but the shadow of my ear appears a little on the photo, is it a drawback?
October 15, 2019 at 19:07
No.
October 15, 2019 at 18:53
Hi Simon,
Passport number is now required in participating it the DV-2021 Lottery.
Do you think that filing for the DV Lottery will have any significant impact on any future visa applications?
For example, will I have any problem if I apply for a B1/B2 visa in the future? My concern is that my name and passport number will pop out in their system and they might believe that I have immigrant intent because I participated in DV Lottery. The true is that currently immigrate in the US is only a wish; only in the case of winning, I will carefully considered if leave everything behind to start a new life.
Thanks in advance for your reply.
Silvia
October 15, 2019 at 18:57
Hello Mr.Simon
Please should I send my supported documents accompanied with the translation? Because the email I received from Kentucky says :”All documents not in English, or in the official language of the country in which the application for a visa is being made, must be accompanied by certified translations. The translation must include a statement signed by the translator that states that the translation is accurate and the translator is competent to translate”.
Thank you.
October 15, 2019 at 19:42
The instructions are quite clear. Follow those directions.
October 15, 2019 at 19:05
Hi Brit, Thanks for taking time to answer our questions.
Regarding the new block on Trump’s Public charge, What is the effect of that for 2020 winners?, what changes it made to acceptance criteria?
Thank you
October 15, 2019 at 19:41
No change. The changes to public charge concern a very small number of people – and DV cases were ALREADY required to met certain requirements, including proving they would not become a public charge.
October 15, 2019 at 19:55
Hi again Brit,
I am Jordanian and as I heard from the people who had the interview in Jordan that the embassy never asked about sponsor or bank statement, do you have any idea?
If they ask for bank statement, is it fine if I deposit the amount one week before the interview date?
October 15, 2019 at 19:58
One more question, I lived in UAE between 2006-2010, I have police clearance certificate but the certificate is valid for 3 months which means till end of December 2019, do you think it would be acceptable if they send me the email required for documents by Jan 2020? As I left the country long time before
Thanks
October 16, 2019 at 03:52
Yes
October 16, 2019 at 03:51
You can try. But I personally wouldn’t try that. I would get an I-134 or show actual savings.
October 15, 2019 at 20:11
Hello Birth
It’s possible for all applicants to have their Passport before entry for DV-2021?
Or is the Principal Applicants should have his/her Passport.
October 15, 2019 at 20:57
Hi Simon
I made a mistake when applying for the this year dv lottery.
I didn’t put the county I was born in that is written on my passport on the dv form when I was filling in my information..
Will I be disqualify..
But my passport is not expired and it is valid.. that’s the first question
The second question is:
I have a son who is 1 year six months but I did not include him cuz he was outta town when I played, will I be disqualify also.. pls clarify my doubt
God bless you….
October 16, 2019 at 03:54
So you don’t think being accurate about your place of both or your children was too important. Well bad choice. If you are selected you will be disqualified.
October 15, 2019 at 21:47
ok so if it appears A shadow (my own shadow). and if the white fabric has creased it is not a problem, the person will not be disqualified?
October 16, 2019 at 01:05
Hi BRI is November vb out already
October 16, 2019 at 04:00
No
October 16, 2019 at 03:55
For goodness sake. Please use some common sense.
October 16, 2019 at 00:44
Hi,
I actually have couple of questions.
(1) If somebody has granted the green card through family sponsored avenue. But it will still take years to reach the visa approval. Can this person still apply for the DV Lottery (hoping for a faster avenue)? Would this negatively affect the family sponsored application?
(2) I have 2 citizenships, one of them is from the eligible countries to apply (native country). I don’t have a valid passort from my native country but I have a Canadian passport. Can I still apply with the valid Canadian passport and still put my native country on the application?
Thank you in advance for your reply.
October 16, 2019 at 03:58
1. No problem.
2. Yes
October 17, 2019 at 03:09
Is there any program like DV that can take people to Canada?
October 17, 2019 at 04:33
I don’t know.
October 16, 2019 at 11:51
Tony just was curious, why would you like to move to USA if you already have a Canadian passport ? From what point Canada outweighs USA ? Thanks in advance
October 17, 2019 at 00:03
Canada is a great country indeed. The point that I have family in the US, and I would like to live close to them.
October 16, 2019 at 00:55
Hi Simon
Our interview is scheduled for five weeks from now. My question is regarding police checks from other countries I have lived in.
From the Diversity Visa Program instruction page for ‘Submit Supporting Documents / Police Check’, police checks should be obtained from:
“any previous country or countries of residence if residing there for more than 12 months”
However, the US Consulate in Sydney has just sent a Document Cover Sheet they require the principal applicant to fill out (my wife is the principal applicant) which states:
Other Country police certificate(s) / Translation(s)
Country From (mmm-yyyy) To (mmm-yyyy)
List below all countries you have resided in for 6 months or more since
reaching the age of 16 (excluding Australia)
I was on a secondment in Germany from Ericsson Australia to Ericsson Germany for a period of 6 months and 5 days.
Do you think I need to obtain a police check from Germany to bring to the interview to be safe, or is this something I don’t need to worry about?
Thanks Simon!
October 16, 2019 at 03:59
You will not need a police cert if you can show you were only there for that 6 month time.
October 16, 2019 at 04:22
Thanks Simon!
October 16, 2019 at 01:35
Hello Simon, I am from Ecuador and the passaport number has 10 digits the DV form only allows 9 digits what should I do??? The only number that could fit the textbox is the passport book number listed in my passport. which one is the number i can put there?
October 16, 2019 at 04:01
I don’t know what a passport book number means. Surely your passport has a PASSPORT NUMBER.
October 16, 2019 at 02:31
So my question is that I live in The USA as a lawful permanent resident. Wanting to bring my fiancé to USA from Japan. So she is applying for the DV entry 2021. We are planning on getting married mid-late November. So by the dead line of this DV entry, she is still a single.
However, by 5/5/2020, she will be married.
Now, she is applying for DV entry, should she mark her self as a ‘single’ or married on the application? Because she is going to get married anyways.
October 16, 2019 at 04:03
I am going to be dead one day but I don’t fill in a form as “DECEASED” do I?????
October 16, 2019 at 04:08
Long time viewer, first time commenter. This is one of your best ever responses.
October 17, 2019 at 03:02

Thanks for appreciating the humor.
October 16, 2019 at 03:10
Hello Brit, is December VB up now?
October 16, 2019 at 04:05
Patience.
October 16, 2019 at 03:19
Good day Brit. Thanks for all the guide u gave me. Am grateful. Am in Us already. When I went in for dv 2019 I did as without a child. But I have a child who turns 21 before I played the dv 2019. So in all the process I stood as without a child. What can I do about my child’s case?
October 16, 2019 at 04:06
You can start an I-130 family sponsored process. I don’t advise on that process.
October 16, 2019 at 03:41
Hello Brit, I am trying to apply for the DV lottery 2021 on my smart phone, will it be possible since I don’t have a desktop. My concern is the how to do with the face photo thing. I will be greatly appreciate for your response.

Josie
October 16, 2019 at 04:07

October 16, 2019 at 04:38
Thanks for your quick response.
October 16, 2019 at 06:50
Do you have photo already in your phone?
October 16, 2019 at 04:17

October 16, 2019 at 05:49

October 16, 2019 at 06:06
Hi Simon,
I received email from KCC to submit Documents. I would like to make my Interview Schedule on January 2020. with your experiance when can i submit the requested documents to KCC for January Interview.
My Case No is 20200000AS93**
October 17, 2019 at 03:06
Now – BUT if your case is not current for January then you will wait anyway.
October 16, 2019 at 07:32
Hello Simon,
DV2020EU48*** KCC sent me the doc email today and it quotes that “send those to KCC to review as part of your application package, along with completing your DS-260”. I have submitted ds-260 since june and i have the confirmation page printed. So is this email generic or kcc has not received my ds-260 formular submitted ?
Thank you
October 17, 2019 at 03:07
I don’t recognize the snippet you pasted.
October 17, 2019 at 07:15
Well the essence of email is that kcc wants docs scaned and ds-260 completed in order to be scheduled. I have completed ds-260 and in the email it doesnt say that is has been procesed. This is why i am confused.
October 16, 2019 at 07:37
Hi
I have sent my documents to KCCDVdocuments on October 3, 2019 and I have not received answer. I don’t know what to do. Can I send it for second time.
Thank you in advance,
October 17, 2019 at 03:08
Ask KCC.
October 16, 2019 at 08:27
I was trying to enter the DV lottery this morning and right when I clicked the submit button, I got an error saying that my ‘connection information was reset’ so I refreshed the page and that brought me back to Captcha code screen. I never got a confirmation number or success message.
Did my entry got submitted or should I try again?
Also I was born in Saudi Arabia but hold a Pakistani passport, am I eligible to enter the lottery?
October 17, 2019 at 03:09
No confirmation code means no entry was made.
You are eligible through your birth country.
October 16, 2019 at 09:38
Hi Brit! I would like to ask you to clarify this to me, in you video you told us how you applied the DV using your wife’s country since yours was not eligible. does this means that when someone is selected as a DV winner is it necessary for him/her to use the documents (supporting documents for interview & traveling documents) from the native country or he/she may even use those from the country where he/she is living and holding its nationality? clarify using your case
October 17, 2019 at 03:11
You prove your case using the documents and education you have from whereever they came from.
October 16, 2019 at 09:49

thank you Brit.
October 17, 2019 at 03:12
The documents email does not mean anything about where the cutoff would be.
I don’t know procedures in your country.
October 16, 2019 at 09:53
Hello Brit , Iam a DV2020 winner from Africa , my Country is currently changing Passport and I already applied for a new One , my initial plan was to ask KCC to unlock my form for me to insert my new Passport number however , yesterday i got an Email from KCC asking me to submit my documents .now my question is Can I still ask KCC to unlock my form now that i have been asked to submit supporting document ???
October 16, 2019 at 12:49

October 17, 2019 at 03:12

October 16, 2019 at 10:56

No

Visas: Ineligibility Based on Public Charge Grounds
On October 11, 2019, the Department published an interim final rule that amends 22 CFR 40.41, Ineligibility Based on Public Charge Grounds, to add certain definitions, including definitions of public charge, public benefit, alien’s household, and receipt of public benefit.
Visa applicants are not requested to take any additional steps at this time and should attend their visa interviews as scheduled. The Department is seeking approval for use of a new form before it implements any changes to our processes. We will inform applicants of any changes to current visa application procedures.
Did you seen this Announcement on October 11, 2019?
What it means??
October 17, 2019 at 03:21
I am going to explain about that, but it doesn’t immediately impact any normal DV cases.
October 16, 2019 at 14:05
Hi Brit,

October 16, 2019 at 14:34

October 17, 2019 at 03:21
It depends whether that was done legally and more than 2 years ago.
