Hello Brit,
I am GC holder for 1.5 Years but have not moved to US yet. I am visiting US every 6 month to keep my GC alive.
But as I just married I want to apply GC for my wife and once she gets it in ~2 years (for Armenians) then we will can move to US finally together.
I am wandering if chances are high that they will reject GC for my wife with taking into account I do not live at US yet.
I appreciate your valuable feedback!!
Regards,
Emil

I don’t know.
December 12, 2019 at 23:47
hi Brit can a dv applicant be denied a interview or visa because their CN is so high the kcc couldn’t find them a time to schedule an interview for them
Or that the visas ran out before their CN became current.
December 13, 2019 at 00:56
Yes of course.
December 13, 2019 at 04:27
Hello Brit, kindly assist me on below questions.
My sponsor’s last income report is 2017 which reports $45,000 annual income. He is gonna file his latest report in Jan which will record $100,000 income bdw I can’t wait till that. In both of our families it’s 4 members.
1. Is $45,000 would be enough for me and my spouse
2. Can I go with 2017 income report?
TIA

Hi Britsimon,
Firstly thank you for all that you do!
My wife and I were very fortunate to have won the DV17 lottery. We entered into the United States to activate the Green Card in October 2019 and spent two weeks there before returning back to Australia. I have since received the physical card. We are currently in Australia planning the timeframe for our permanent move to the US. Do you know by when we will have to move by? On the Guide to New Immigrants it states that the green card is valid for return within 12 months. However, I have heard that there could be issues at the Boarder if you are outside of the US for more than 6 months. Do we have 12 or 6 months to move to the US?
Thank you!
Mike

12. You may be questioned about the long absence, but it shouldn’t be a problem.
December 13, 2019 at 06:47
Hello Brit,
After signing my DS 260 when verifying again my informations this week I saw that 2 or 3 no/yes questions weren’t answered and I can remember that I answered them because I triple checked and my sister checked it as well. Is it necessary for me to contact KCC to unlock my DS 260 ? My interview will be on Jan from the visa bulletin (I haven’t received the email already)
December 13, 2019 at 07:29
You will NOT be interviewed in January. Questions have been added to the DS260 – you do not need to unlock to answer them. Make sure you have sent your documents.
December 14, 2019 at 16:10
I sent them on October and I have already received the ready to interview email
December 13, 2019 at 08:49
Dear Britt,
I have a question regarding the interview.
if my case number becomes current in the next visa bulletin, does it mean that my interview will be in February?
I know ppl whose case nr was EU6000 and they didn t get interviewed in November but in December.
Can u explain a bit about this ore plz send a link from your website if you have already talked about this topic.
Thank you in advance!
December 13, 2019 at 22:22
I have said this many times in many articles and videos.
You cannot be scheduled until all three of these things have happened.
1. Your DS260 is submitted and completed.
2. Your documents are submitted and processed.
3. Your number is current.
1 and 2 above need to be completed BEFORE the beginning of the month when 2NLs are sent. So – February interviews will ONLY go to cases current after the next VB, and steps 1 and 2 were completed by the end of November.

December 13, 2019 at 12:59
Hi brit..
1- When i go to the U.S.A do i have to go directly to the address that i have entered in my ds-260 ? Can i go to some other address before?
2- Do i have to be present at the same address that i gave to receive the green card?
Thank you
December 13, 2019 at 22:24
1. Yes, you can live Anywhere
2. No – but you have to trust the person at that address to receive your GC and keep it safe for you.
December 13, 2019 at 15:28
Dear Sir,
Compared to previous DV year, this year visa bulletin’s are published after 15th of the month. any reasons for that?
Thanks
December 13, 2019 at 22:26
I don’t know.
December 13, 2019 at 16:31
Hi britsimon. I hav read FAQ about AP. From nepal. Interview on 4 dec 2019. Visa not issued yet. Is it second type of AP where they need additional check on case. But again i have subbitmited all the required documents. (Nothing less, nothing more.) What normally is likely to happen in this situation. Your advice and comment is needed please.
December 13, 2019 at 22:27
I can’t predict how long your case will be in AP. You just need to be patient.
December 13, 2019 at 16:48
Hi Brit
My number is AS10xxx, so I am expecting the interview in Feb , my passport will be expire by July 2020, so shall I renew my passport now or it is fine ?
I Read that in case of approval the passport has to have min 6 months before the expiry date To stamp th visa
December 13, 2019 at 18:05
Where are you from saleh?
Have you been reviewing documents from Kentucky ?
December 14, 2019 at 08:34
I am from jordan
Yes , it’s been reviewed
December 13, 2019 at 22:28

December 13, 2019 at 18:16
Hi brit , how are u? Cn 62*** , do u think that this case is safe??
December 13, 2019 at 22:30
No, I cannot say that is safe. Wait and see.
December 14, 2019 at 06:27
Hi brit,
One of my friend had an interview yesterday and he was unlucky he get denied.
The reason he was denied is that he didnt complete his highschool but he had diploma from another college and currently he is a student for his degree and now he is a biology teacher for several years.
So my question is
1. Based on the job zone rate his profession is above rate of 8.0. What will be the major reason to denie the visa
2. If had completed his degree was it enough to get visa?
Thanks for quick reply
December 14, 2019 at 06:51
1. Not being properly prepared.
2. Maybe.
December 14, 2019 at 15:57
Hi Simon,
Sorry that I bother you again, but I didn’t even receive an automatic reply, so it might mean that they didn’t receive my email with the documents. Would it be ok if I just sent the documents again without containing any message ? I know that our CN is not current yet, but the automatic reply should always come in few days I guess.
I’m looking forward to hearing from you.
Damian
December 14, 2019 at 16:06
There is no harm in trying again.
December 14, 2019 at 18:20

December 15, 2019 at 01:42
Hello mr Brit
thank you for answering me.
my question is:
when I feel my Ds 260 I put my work experiance from “october 2014 to may
2019”
but my work expeiance at hand is from “october 2014 to october 2019”.Means
I have a 4 year expieriance with only months difference to which I apply on Ds-260.
will that be a problem??
December 15, 2019 at 02:37
No
December 15, 2019 at 15:40
Hi ,
My question would be if someone provides I 134 along with 1040 and a photo I D would that be sufficient ? Is it mandatory to submit 1099 as well ? please explain. ..
Thanks.
December 15, 2019 at 20:23
1099 is usually not needed.
December 15, 2019 at 21:10
Hi brit how are you . My sister lives in usa for about 2 years , and she got green card because she won dv lottery thanks to God and you . But now her passport expired my question is ,
How can she updated or valid her passport ?
December 15, 2019 at 22:33
Probably through the embassy of her country.
December 16, 2019 at 10:22
Hi Brit,
Are there any green card lotteries other than US green card
December 16, 2019 at 15:18
I don’t know.
December 16, 2019 at 12:33
Hi Brit,
I am DV 2020 applicant all my and family documents required by KCC are in order except 2 police certificates for my Spouse, he couldn’t have them from Saudi Arabia and State of Qatar .
My Spouse applied for these police certificates right after we receive the KC email about documents submission 27/10/2019.
it is almost 2 months since we apply and no respond from state of Qatar ministry of interior except an application receipt, for Saudi Arabia embassy they verbally says that they can’t issue a police certificate for my spouse as he was as Student and on his father sponsorship.
Knowing that i mailed KCCDV @state.gov about our situation and phone them . Their respond via email was an Auto reply and through phone they advise me to upload a copy of the application receipt and hope for the best!!!!
Should i Upload our documents without these 2 police certificates?
Thanks
Alaa
December 16, 2019 at 15:20
Follow their instructions.
December 16, 2019 at 15:46
For Saudi police record it is unavailable and it’s not required as mentioned in State.gov , so don’t worry.
December 16, 2019 at 16:09
HI Britsimon ,How you? I have a great admiration for your consistent advice and suggestion related to DV for DV winners. I am DV_2020 winner from Africa whose CN is AF48k. My question is: Is this CN (AF48***) is Safe? Based on Current Visa Process Do you think that I have an opportunity to be interviewed before visa run?
December 16, 2019 at 17:04
Yeah safe.
December 16, 2019 at 18:06
Hi I got dv 2020 chance but I dont have any information about the interview pls can u give as little bet information
December 16, 2019 at 20:28
It’s impossible for me to answer such a vague question.
December 16, 2019 at 19:18
Hi Mr. Simon, I have a question, my husband and I are a green card holders and our child (2years Also a green card holder) is living in our country with my mom due to some reasons , so We want our child back to us so can my mom get a visa to accompany the child, is that possible? What do We need to do then? Thanks for your help.
December 16, 2019 at 20:31
No. Your Mom could apply for a tourist visa, but providing childcare to your child is NOT valid reason to get a visa – and your Mom cannot perform childcare work whether she is paid or not.
December 16, 2019 at 21:23
Oky sorry Sir may be my question was not well asked, she is not intended to do childcare work but my point was is this reason valid for her to get a tourism visa just for transporting the kid or traveling with the kid? Because she works and has her own business she can travel may be for 1 week only and also my husband and I can’t travel to take our child because of the work. can she request a tourist visa and add this purpose also as a reason is she requesting the visa?thanks for your help
December 16, 2019 at 21:35
Again. Having the child is NOT a reason to ask for the tourist visa.
December 16, 2019 at 22:59
Oky thank you Sir
December 16, 2019 at 22:48
Hello brit i hope you are doing great. So im a dv2020 winner from algeria and my interview will take place in january. But i didnt find a sponsor yet. And ive been told that algeria is the only country in which you will need a sponsor. So my question since i dont have a sponsor is if i open a bank account and fill it up with money do i still have to look for sponsor ? Knowing that im just 21yo (still studying) and my parents are the ones who gonna provide me with money. And thank you sir.
December 17, 2019 at 02:12
Algeria is NOT the only country where you need a sponsor. Read the article below to understand your options.
https://britsimonsays.com/all-about-public-charge-affidavit-of-support-i-134/
December 17, 2019 at 07:49
Hi houssine I’m also from algeria…how can i contact you ??
December 17, 2019 at 00:14
Hi
The documents which we send to KCC should hold apostille stamp when translated or only the translation by a competent translator who is sworn before a Notary Public ?
December 17, 2019 at 02:14
A Notarized document is not normally needed.
December 17, 2019 at 16:19
Simon thnx for the reply,
I didnt mean notarized document, as I will translate the original documents take by each institution. What I mean is, after that I obtain the documents from institution, do I need to take Apostille Stamp for each document ?
December 17, 2019 at 17:01
I understood. Same answer.
December 17, 2019 at 05:10
Hi Brit,
My case number is: AS 14XXX
Sorry if somebody else asked the same question, but I have completed DS 260, and submitted the documents already, but seems that there are some question added on DS 260 such as “Have you traveled to any countries/regions within the last five years?” which I think I didn’t see when I completed DS 260 last July or August which I don’t really remember, but I can’t review the item. However, when I review my completed DS 260, it says “completed”.
1. Would that be a problem if I didn’t fill in the question?
2. Should I unlock DS 260 and add the information?
3. Is there a chance for me not to be interviewed because of this?
You help is always really appreciated.
Thank you.
Regards,
Aurora
December 17, 2019 at 16:42
You don’t need to answer the questions unless you unlock for some other reason.
December 17, 2019 at 05:38
Dear Brit
I got my Police Certificate and they misspelled my father name, like my father name in other document is ABDUL AHMAD but they stated in my Police Certificate, ABDUL AHMED.
Will it be an issue/problem or not?
thanks
December 17, 2019 at 16:43
No problem.
December 17, 2019 at 06:20
Good morning Mr Brit, this is a follow up sir, u recall I reported my interview appointment cancellation by my embassy in Ghana on the 5th November, 2019 in Ghana and they promised to reschedule another appointment but all to no avail.
I then decided to write to them having waited for all this while.
In one of their responses, they asked me to attack my previously scheduled appointment letter for confirmation and for further assistance which I respectively obliged.
Please be informed that, only yesterday on the 16/12/2019, they emailed me by telling me to create an account and register a profile to schedule an appointment .
My issue now is , I didn’t cancel the interview appointment and secondly am really finding it difficult to create that profile account to schedule my appointment.
Would appreciate your assistance in this regard Sir.
Have a pleasant day !!!
December 17, 2019 at 16:49
I can’t really assist. You simply need to create a profile and book an appointment. It should be very straightforward – so just get on with it.
December 19, 2019 at 02:43
Hi Charles, sorry about that i think you should take your documents(as evidence) and go back to the embassy and let any of their workers assit u in creating the profile ok…n lets see how it goes..had my interview last week..though it was tough i sailed through by Gods grace.
December 17, 2019 at 08:08
Hi Brit
At the end of my DS260 form , I filled it that. ” yes” I have bn assisted in filling it . They went further to ask about my relationship to him and i told them .Being just an “acquaintance “.
1) could it post a problem ? And if yes can I unlock and adjust pls?
December 17, 2019 at 16:50
No problem.
December 18, 2019 at 01:31
Thank u . I was really worried.
December 17, 2019 at 10:29

December 17, 2019 at 12:17
Hello,
I am collecting all the required documents. My case number is EU48XXX so I don’t expect an interview soon.
The documents should be in english or “or in the official language of the country in which the application for a visa is being made”
So, If I understand correctly, since I am doing the interview in Italy I can submit some of the documents in Italian without being translated.
Is that Correct?
I know it has been asked already and I read about the “holes” but do you think I have chances to be called for the interview with my high number in EU?
Thanks!
Mat
December 17, 2019 at 16:54
Yes on Italian.
As for your chances – yours in not the highest number, but pretty high – so wait and see.
December 17, 2019 at 14:07
Dear Simon,
1/ As a French national, I was able to request a multilingual version of my Birth Certificate from the French authorities. It’s a double-sided one page document with the front in French and the back with all entries translated in multiple languages including English enabling a very easy and straightforward read of the front side. Will this be received well by KCC or do I still need a certified translation of the document?
2/ When documents to be submitted are more than one page, is it acceptable to name them as follow:
2020AF00938653_John_Doe_Police Certificate_1.pdf
2020AF00938653_John_Doe_Police Certificate_2.pdf
2020AF00938653_John_Doe_Police Certificate_3.pdf
Many thanks.
Warm wishes,
Claire
December 17, 2019 at 16:55
1. Doesn’t need a translation.
2. That would be OK – although I have written a detailed article about document submission.
December 17, 2019 at 17:31
Thank you!
December 17, 2019 at 15:20

December 17, 2019 at 17:13
Prove or certificate citozenship is not required to be send to KCC and later at interview?
Is it needed?
December 17, 2019 at 21:17
KCC don’t ask for that, but it may be required at the interview.
December 17, 2019 at 20:47

December 17, 2019 at 22:49
When and where do you get instructions regarding medical clearance for DV2020. Does it come on the 2NL?
December 17, 2019 at 23:37
The 2NL points you to embassy specific instructions (which you can actually access at any time if you read the instructions carefully). The embassy specific instructions tell you how to schedule your medical.
December 18, 2019 at 02:19
Hi Brit,
My case no is AS17***. I have already submitted the documents. I got the automatic reply that stated mail has been received. Should I contact dvlottery dept.

Hi Brit I have two questions. 1 why are there so big numbers this year and how many do you think will be passing to get visas. And what happens to those who get dv lottery but not an interview can they reapply do they get better chance or are they put in a redraw system. Thanks
December 18, 2019 at 15:15
I wrote full explanations of the high numbers in July. Read those articles.
Each draw is random – no special chance to previous winners.
December 18, 2019 at 09:26
Good day Mr Brit
I am dv 2020 winner, I recently discovered from my girlfriend that when playing her dv last year she say we are married(because we were planning to do so) but me I play single before her . Now we are not married and she was not selected . My question
Will this affect my case ? Thanks
December 18, 2019 at 15:14
Possibly.
December 18, 2019 at 13:13
Hello Brit,
based on your prediction my interview will be scheduled June or July/2020. I am worried about the expire date of my current passport which will be October 20/2020. As the passport must be valid for six months, thinking to renew my passport and unlock the DS 260 to change the passport number. what do you recommend ?
Thanks

You can get the links from the DV lottery instructions. You have the link on your 1NL.
Take all documents to the interview.

At the interview you answer any question you are asked, and you answer truthfully. But you don’t answer questions they don’t ask you.

They published the vb of February but they made a mistake writing January * thus they removed it, the vb for Africa they reached 27500 would they remain the same number?

I have no evidence that the VB was published earlier then withdrawn. But you can no see the published numbers.
