Just a question about the meaning of “Middle Name”.
Here an example:
“Anthony Lewis Jackson Hanks”
In my DV entry put:
GIVEN NAMES: Anthony
MIDDLE NAMES: Lewis
SURNAMES: Jackson Hanks
Was this the correct order?
If not, can I change it when filling for firts time my DS260 form? Could be a problem?
Not yet selected, but just in case….
Thank you!
December 18, 2019 at 20:28
Well, in the DS260 does not appear “Middle name” field, so I would suppose that in the “given names” fields I should put also the Middle name, that’s right? No problems?

Hi there Mr. Simon,
How often should I check the status ? I’ve done this three times and obviously so far I have had no success. I usually check if I have won once when it opens………. I’ve also made entry last year, can I or should I check status again ?
December 20, 2019 at 19:41
Check once in May, once in October. That’s all that’s needed.
December 21, 2019 at 19:26
Thanks for the quick reply Mr Simons
December 18, 2019 at 19:55
Hiya Brit,
Here is to quick question in regard of your expertise. What do you think about the EU progress for case number wise. Once I checked your well prepared documents (which we all clearly compare the previous years) also my case number is 34xxx does EU can see those number before at the end of the fiscal year?
Once again I do appreciate your effort and time.
December 18, 2019 at 21:11
EU34XXX is safe.

Hello, my friend who would be supplying the Affidavit of support has just informed me that his passport has been “red flagged” at one point because of him being suspected of having his first marriage as an arranged marriage just for the purpose of getting a green card.
He has remarried since and has been living and working in the USA for almost 10 years as a legal resident without any problems and has travelled in and out of the USA numerous times, but he said that he is always asked to step aside for further checks because of that flagging issue. He is, however, allowed to enter/leave every time without exception(more than 30 times in those years).
But he has raised this concern with me, in terms of this “flagging” potentially hurting my application if he would become my sponsor.
Would you happen to have any information regarding this? Thank you very much
December 18, 2019 at 21:14
I have never heard of such a case from a sponsor point of view.
December 21, 2019 at 08:01
Your friend clearly does not want to sponsor you. Try someone else.

Hi Brit,
New VB shows Nepal at 7,575. only 1,025 more than last month.
If this sequence continues what do you think are the chances for AS11XXX (Nepal).
Thanks in advance.
Regards.
December 18, 2019 at 21:13
You can work that out yourself….
December 18, 2019 at 21:17
Thanks for your reply. But are AS11XXX and more safe ?
Getting bit anxious. Need your expert view please.
Regards.
December 19, 2019 at 00:28
OBVIOUSLY AS11XXX is safe.
December 19, 2019 at 17:37
Only FIVE VBs have been released out of TWELVE. Think about that.
December 22, 2019 at 05:27
Simon, are the fees below correct for green card costs?
How much does a Green Card cost?

The family application (I-130) is $535 (about R7,737)
The marriage application (I–129F) is $535 (about R7,737)
The employment application (I–140) is $700 (about R10,123)
USCIS Immigrant Fee is $220 (about R3,181)
Biometric Services Fee is $85 (about R1,229)
The Green Card lottery fee is $330 (about R4,772)

December 18, 2019 at 21:19
Hey Brit.
Happy getting back to you after a while.
Good enough I succeeded and KCC was able to understand that I wont travel with my spouse in this DV. But they only understood it through a phone call you advised me to.
Now my question is. I am now current, Af193**.
When do I expect my
1. Medical.
2. 2nL
3. Interview.
With Gusto ❤
December 19, 2019 at 00:28
1. You book that once you get your 2NL
2. It depends when they had the DS260 and documents.
3. Same as 2.
December 19, 2019 at 04:51
2. They confirmed my documents already. When should I expect?
By the way, where will I find the 2NL?
December 19, 2019 at 18:02
I did not say if, I said when.
December 18, 2019 at 22:45
Hello Simon,
This may be a futile question given the number of variables involved, but here goes.
When entering the US for the first time with our DV visa and sealed document pack, do you know how long a layover at the first Point of Entry we should be aiming for in order to have enough time to go through customs/border security and have all of our documentation processed before catching our connecting flight?
Secondly, do you know if we can use the Green Card holders line at border security as these are usually much faster than the standard non immigrant / non US resident ones.
Thank you Simon!
All the best.
BG
December 18, 2019 at 23:53
Allow 3 to 4 hours layover before a connecting flight. Less than that would be stressful.
December 19, 2019 at 02:29
Thank you!

Hello Mate,
This is just an example and would appreciate your input.
So, February VB for SA region is currently 1,150. But if March VB states CURRENT, then what does it means. Does it mean only selectees BELOW 1,150 continues for an interview. Or everyone gets an interview (after all doc send) even with higher case number then 1,150.

Hello everyone out there please kindly make donations to support this website especially those who were successful with their interview. Imagine how much a lawyer who doesn’t have even much insight in dv lottery visas would have charged you.
Mr Brit,am hoping i will be successful and make some donations when i reach the USA successfully.
I sent my documents to Kcc on 4th December,2019. My case number 2020AF260xxx. It is possible to get a march interview? Thank you.

Dear Mr. Simon,
My case number is 2020EU40+++ , and i have read very carefully all topics , just wanted to check and ask you:
Do you really think it is safe to have 40+++ , near 41 case?
Or possibility from 1 to 10 🙂 .
Thank you.
December 19, 2019 at 20:18
Wait and see.
December 19, 2019 at 10:27
Hi Brit,My case number is AF00063XXX.I just wish to know if my number is safe and I’ll likely be scheduled for an interview because I don’t want to invest in vain.
Thanks.
December 19, 2019 at 11:25
Hi brit , I really appreciate the ease of your blog , I have a quick one that has bother me of late 🙁 . I had gone to get a new photo taken from the photo studio for the dv lottery , however after submitting the new photo , I was checking more on my image and realized that the date taken origin in the metadata from the photo studio which I paid was outdated at 2009 . Will this impact the image being disqualified ? Your feed back will be highly appreciated 🙂
December 19, 2019 at 20:19
It is possible that they will use metadata to disqualify cases. There is no way to be sure until the results are announced – and only then if you are selected.
December 19, 2019 at 20:20
No one is asking you to invest in anything. All you have to do is submit the DS260 and some documents. That doesn’t need to cost anything. So – be patient and see what happens.
December 19, 2019 at 13:24

Really – wait and see.
December 19, 2019 at 16:25
Dear Britt,
On 11 of December i received and email from kcc saying that i have submitted my documents and im ready to be scheduled for an interview.
February VB for Europe is 14k and my cn nr is 134**.
Should i already ask my sponsor to send me I-134 and all the docs needed from him?\
Thank you in advance!
December 19, 2019 at 21:05
You probably missed the December 2NLs and will instead get a January 2NL (March interview). So – it’s too early to ask for the I-134.
December 19, 2019 at 16:57
Hello Sir,
I would like to know when this case number will be interviewed (2020AS7871 – Asia)?
Thank You
December 19, 2019 at 21:06

December 20, 2019 at 06:27

December 20, 2019 at 00:05
Dear Mr. Simon;
First of all, I would like to thank you for the efforts you put in your website and YouTube channel about diversity visa program (DV), it is by far the most valuable and accurate information available on this program.
I have question and I hope you can help me answering it, I won the DV2020, and my case number is 2020AS16xxx. According to your knowledge, what is my chance to be interviewed and getting a visa?
Another question is that I had filled the DS-260 but I have some documents missing so I did not send the documents yet. How much do you think I have time to send the documents according to visa bulletin?
December 20, 2019 at 00:13
Your number is fine.
You cannot be scheduled until you have given them documents, but you can delay some more months if you want to.
December 20, 2019 at 04:10
Hello, Brit. I need to help. I won in dv 2020, when I wrote down all the information in moment entry last year I pointed university degree, later I understand that I have only 2 courses at university. In ds 260 I wrote accurate and I pointed my level. Now I doubt about it. How do you think may it big problem? I have minimum requirements for interview
December 20, 2019 at 17:30
No problem.
December 20, 2019 at 14:45
Hey Simon,
Man, you have tons of patience. God bless you!
With my huge number (EU54xxx) I know I am in a deep ‘danger’ zone. Looking at previous years (EU region) I do not see any number exceeding 30xxx. Do you think they picked too many ‘winners’ for DV2020 from Eurasian continent?
December 20, 2019 at 17:37
The numbering is different this year because there are a lot more holes. So, yes your number is one of the highest, but you may get a chance. Read some of my articles from July to understand better.
December 20, 2019 at 19:56
Hellow brit Regards from. First of all lots of appreciation for a great job you are doing here.
I have three questions in a row to ask and my questions are
1)My case numer will be current on coming February so when i am supposed to get my 2Nl?
2) Recently after realease of this month’s visa bulletin i got a weird mail from KCC@noreply which says( ********:You have received this email notification to inform you that you have updates available at https://www.dvlottery.state.gov/ESC . Please log in using your confirmation number from your original application to complete further processing.)
but when i open the link, the same page appears which we use to check dv results and when i try to enter my first confirmation number it says its invalid. Is this thing a problem or did they mistakely sent this email.
3)As if i got interview i am planing to migrate alone so what are the criteria for sponsor in us set by kkc?
Sorry for making it lengthy hope you will patiently answer my questions and give me a relaxing solutions and answers.

Hi Simon,
My interview was fine and the interviewer just ask us to bring the high school diploma but we just realized that my last name on the diploma has an error they put WANYAKU instead of WANIAKU.
Am I going to decline a visa because of that?
Thank you
December 20, 2019 at 21:57
Not normally unless your CO suspects some sort of fraud – so take additional evidence that the diploma is yours.
December 20, 2019 at 21:20
Dear Simon,
My case number is EU32xxx is there a chance to be interviewed. We have sent all the documents to KCC. We have received automated email that we will get response between 3-6 weeks, but now it has been 6 and half weeks and no any reply. Should I call them or email them to see what is going on?
Thank you Simon.
Kind Regards, Ged
December 20, 2019 at 21:58
Just wait. You are not current yet so you have some months to wait.
December 21, 2019 at 03:25
Hi Simon, thank you for reply. Is there a big chance to get a card Eu32xxx?
Kind Regards, Ged
December 21, 2019 at 17:17
It’s fine.
December 20, 2019 at 22:44
Hi Brit I followed the link given to me in the 2nl letter to confirm my interview appointment but could not find any instructions there. Can you pls help me out thanks
December 20, 2019 at 22:56
Already answered you.
December 20, 2019 at 23:08
Hello Brit!
you don’t think it’s time to tell the truth that the winners over 50K EU just never get to the interview I think you have to be honest and not be naive by saying wait and see. visa progress bulletin means a lot … so next time you have to say things as they really are I’m sorry that a gentleman like you is falling to this level!
December 20, 2019 at 23:30
On what do you base your assumption? Please explain in detail about how you decided that was “the truth”.
December 21, 2019 at 01:35
And a couple of hours later and you haven’t even answered.
Judging by what you believed about Chicago changing its name, it is clear you are not the most logical person, so it is doubtful that you will come back with anything sensible. But please, be careful what you say to people. You have ABSOLUTELY NO IDEA what you are talking about, and certainly are not in a position to question my honesty or integrity. I am quite certain you would not say these foolish things to my face, so don’t pretend to be bold behind your keyboard.
Your number from previous posts is EU52XXX. Feel free to give up – someone behind you would gladly take your place.
And for others to understand your powers of logic – they should read this piece of genius.

December 21, 2019 at 23:39
I don’t understand why all this hatred with me after all I am a Woman so use some respect ..i’m just using a simple logic and i’m right in what i’m telling you!
in my case when you all got an email about document dosing that email never came to me, as i sent the documents without this email i just received an automatic email from kcc and now it has been almost 6 weeks and still no reply from kcc if my documents are OK or not!
So i have a right to think i’m hoping in vain because i’m already disqualified from this process because i didn’t get anything from them i just dreamed normally i should have received some emails from them like everyone else, dont you think i have right to think like this? Did you understand now?
December 22, 2019 at 01:20
You have the right to *think* whatever you want – but you do not have the right to tell me I am lying to people!
As for your assumption to think you are hoping in vain because you didn’t get anything in 6 weeks – maybe you should learn some simple patience.
The next words you should type better sound like an apology – if you can’t do that – don’t bother replying at all.
December 20, 2019 at 23:30
Hello Brit,
I completed DS-260 in june sent documents to KCC on the 11th of October and received ready to interview email on 21st November…my CN is current for January but up to now I haven’t received the 2NL. Please is this normal?
December 20, 2019 at 23:36
Stop repeating this question! I already answered you.
https://britsimonsays.com/visa-bulletin-for-january-2020-interviews-released/comment-page-3/#comment-213103
December 20, 2019 at 23:41
Ok thanks … Can I know why?
December 20, 2019 at 23:45
Because your documents were submitted late/took longer to process. But quite simply, January interviews are scheduled in November. Not December. In December they are arranging Feb interviews.
December 21, 2019 at 05:38
Hi, I had an interview on 12/19/19, we were denied due to an error in the initial application in the year of birth of the applicant in places 1984-1983. What should we do ? thanks
December 21, 2019 at 17:20
THere is no appeal process, so there is nothing you can do.
December 21, 2019 at 08:06
Hi Simon. What’s the VB for South Africa? Do you have an idea how many people registered last year for the lottery and the entries this year for DV 2021?
December 21, 2019 at 17:26
https://britsimonsays.com/visa-bulletin-for-february-2020-interviews-released
Why do you care about the entries?
December 21, 2019 at 10:20
If I wrote in my ds260 that I don’t speak or read any language except my native language (Arabic) and I am English instructor…. Should I open it and change it… there was a problem in my number and I couldn’t submit it without kcc help… my number is 2020Af15000
December 21, 2019 at 11:46
Hellow brit thanks for the reply earlier. As you said that weird mail from kcc is my 2NL but whenever i try to login from my confirmation it says invalid confirmation. It has already been 24hrs as you said retry after 4-5 hrs. i am really worried whats happening?
December 21, 2019 at 21:51
So it is likely you are completing the details incorrectly. Enter your confirmation code, not case number.
December 21, 2019 at 12:30
Hi Brit I have waited for several hours now as you said but still when I follow the link it reads dv selectee estate in the search log. Pls what should i put there thanks

Dear mr.BritSimon, the numbers of visas issued for last October & November are too low, I am Egyptian & they issued 82 visas only for Egypt. What’s the reason ,to what does it refer & do you think it’s good.
Thank you for your time ?
December 21, 2019 at 21:55
The very slow VB start led to very low visas issued.

Just twice. Once in May, once in October.

Hello Britsimon, I think I have a very unique case, probably the only case like this, so I was in the us with F1 visa, I overstayed for over four years but when I decided to leave my passport was not stamped at the exit of us border may be because I was going to Canada first then to my home country, so I never got the 10year bar, I checked online too I never got inadmissible, as a dv winner now, I’m thinking my case is weird and may be I will get the 10year bar now and I feel like my case is hopeless

And 10 years have not passed since I left US, is only 6years ago

Hi Brit, My case number is AF00051XXX. I just want to know if my number is safe and I’ll probably be scheduled for an interview because I’ve aged ds260 since June… I’m waiting for their email for me to send my documents.
Thanks

That number should be fine – contact them in a month or two about the documents.

Dear sir,
I’m a dv2020 selectee for asia region and submitted ds260 and all supportive documents. But i have a doubt regarding my present and previous addresses because i’m currently doing my bachelors and for that i have Living in a personal annex with my friend from several years now.
For every weekend i’m going to my permanent home where i’ve been from more than 15 years. I have tried to add both my addresses but ds260 throws a validation error which due to the overlap in time.
So my question is,
As per your knowledge not adding my annex address can be a cause?
December 22, 2019 at 17:50
Overlapping addresses is the cause. Decide which address was your actual address.

2NL is the interview schedule, so I think you are referring to the document email. All case number ranges have received that. Contact KCC to ask if you should send documents.

Hi Brit
Birth certificate name _ Hendrick John Smith (smith is the surname)
Passport name _ Smith Hendrick John
High school education certificate name _ Smith Hendrick
Question
1) Could this might amount to fraud (disqualification) during the interview?
2) and if so, can an affidavit certificate of oath from an advocate save the situation?
December 22, 2019 at 19:51
No problem. Some systems show names in a format of “lastname, firstname”.
