Hi Simon!
My number, 2020OC000009XX is current, but I haven’t received my 2NL. I send the KCC my supporting documents in August and I checked my status on CEAC and I’m still at NVC. Is this unusual? Should I email the KCC?
Thank you so much for this blog! It’s been a life saver
January 23, 2020 at 00:45
You should contact KCC and ask if they are satisfied with your documents.
January 26, 2020 at 17:18
Mr. Simon we are Kurds from Iraq and we are the winners of 2020 visa lottery. As you may know the problems of Iraq and thr US embassy is closed now. some of us wants to transffer our case to another country. Is it a good idea? does it make our interview date later than it should be?.
But some of us wants to wait until the embassy will open again. If they do that is there any possibility to lose their chance for a visa or what will happen? THANK YOU FOR YOUR HELP
BEST REGARDS
January 26, 2020 at 19:28
As Iraqis you are likely to face increased background checks after the interview. So – delaying the interview waiting for the embassy to reopen is a bad idea.
Contact KCC and ask them to schedule in another country. Make certain that you choose a country that will not be a problem for visas or travel plans.
January 23, 2020 at 03:04
my case number 2020AS74XX, my case was current on Feb VB, I have not submitted asked documents, I m planning to send asked documents (with marriage registration certificate) after getting married to include my husband in interview. Our marriage date is fixed for Apr 26,2020 and I can submit all documents within April.
1. could we get interview in time? when do we expect interview if documents are sent on last of Apr?
2. does my husband get chance to go for interview with me?
3. Is there any good suggestion for me to not to miss my DV opportunity?
January 23, 2020 at 04:42
I M FROM NEPAL
January 23, 2020 at 20:28
Hmmm. So your delay will create risk that the country is limited before you get scheduled. Again. Earlier marriage would be smart.
January 23, 2020 at 20:26
1. Yes – but it could be August or September.
2. Yes
3. Marrying earlier would have reduced the risk.
January 24, 2020 at 02:33
Thanks Brit..regarding 2019 DV only about 1800 visa were granted among allocated numbers(rest denied) in Nepal(according to Newspaper).
1. now for 2020 DV, how do i get information/statistics such as total numbers of visa allocated, number of respondents to the dv case, number of visa issued/rejected till now on the context of Nepal.
January 24, 2020 at 16:37
The newspaper is incorrect. Nepal received 2700+ visas in DV2019
You can see DV2020 data here:
https://dvcharts.xarthisius.xyz/ceacFY20.html
January 23, 2020 at 03:17
Hi Brit, I would like to know that in-case there is a change in our current address is it necessary to change on DV form, given our forms have already been processed. Our number is still not current though. Is it possible to present the relevant documents at the interview stating change in our address.
January 23, 2020 at 20:26
You can change the address at the interview.
January 24, 2020 at 15:18
Much appreciated!
January 23, 2020 at 10:07
Dear Mr.
I am a DV2020 winner with CN EU184 ** and I have not yet received an email from KCC that the documents are OK. should I wait or contact them for the delay?
Best Regards,
January 23, 2020 at 20:46
When did you send the documents?
January 23, 2020 at 10:13
Hi Mr Brit
I had my interview since 2 weeks and last week they asked to fill out form DS5535 and I fill it out and send it but since this time my status on CAEC is Administrative Processing and no update since then so
1) I’m worried it will take long time and that the 50000 visas will finish before they finish Administrative Processing and give me approve on my Visa , could this happened ?
2) Also I need my passport to travel for my work so what shall I do ?
3) what should I do for the next step ?
January 23, 2020 at 20:47
1. Technically, yes – but it is not likely.
2. You would have to ask the embassy for your passport – but that could create additional delay.
3. Wait.
January 24, 2020 at 09:13
If I request my passport
1) How long for them to give to me ?
2) How much delay it will make even if I send it to them back within 1 or 2 weeks?
January 24, 2020 at 16:56
I don’t know.
January 23, 2020 at 12:18
When I was recently traveling I found out that my electronic chip is damaged. This didn’t really cause issues, though I can’t use the electronic machines in Europe any more. The officer told me that it normally wouldn’t cause any issues since they have another way to let me enter.
I was thinking though that for the future, it might be good to have a well-functioning passport so I would like to apply for a new one.
Do you think that is possible right now, since I filled out the application for the Greencard Lottery with this one. What should I do for the upcoming interview?
January 23, 2020 at 20:49
Are you a robot? Humans don’t generally have chips.
Regarding your passport, you can renew it and take both old and new to the interview.
January 23, 2020 at 12:24
Hello sir
I have received 2NL….and interview hasbeen schduled for 24th of February 2020…1)what will be best time to make a medical appointment.
2)i was born in india but i have a citizenship of nepal…could it be a problem during interview cause my interview is in kathmandu nepal.what should be my response towards the interviewer…thank you..
January 23, 2020 at 20:51
1. Contact the physician now. They will guide you.
2. I assume you charged to Nepal. You must have a valid reason for that otherwise you must be denied – so what is your reason to charge to Nepal??
January 24, 2020 at 07:39
My parents are from nepal…in this way i officially become citizen of nepal. They asked me to submit police report of india as well…so i did.i am in india right now…do you have any advice for me
January 24, 2020 at 16:53
So you will be expected to prove that your parents were only in India for a temporary stay. If you do not satisfy the CO about that, you will be disqualified.
https://britsimonsays.com/eligibility-to-enter-the-dv-lottery-country-of-eligibilitychargeability/
January 25, 2020 at 06:13
Hello sir
I am confused now….i have no clue what will be my answer to the CO…how would i suppose to prove that we live in india on temporary basis….honestly sir i have tell you all the truth…and i belong to poor family background….and this is the only chance to put my life in right track….my parents have lot of expectations from me..please i need you expert advice sir…help me…
January 25, 2020 at 15:21
I don’t know you or your circumstances. So – I have no idea what proof you do or don’t have. But let me make this clear. Unless you can prove your parents were in India temporarily, you will be treated as Indian by birth, and disqualified. That is certain. So – if you want to proceed, you must have some proof, otherwise you will be wasting your time and money.
January 23, 2020 at 15:14
hello simon my cn: 2020AF00030 *** I submitted my ds 260 on December 11, 2019 and I submitted my documents on January 18, 2020 my case is in progress
-Is my interview at the embassy to be done in March
-when do you think that someone can schedule me at the embassy for my interview
January 23, 2020 at 20:54
You certainly will NOT be scheduled in March because of your late submission of the DS260 and documents. Probably April or May.
January 23, 2020 at 15:55
hello again simon i scanned my documents with my phone by sending my documents i found that .pdf appeared 2 times example: 2020AF00030 *** _ edouard_eric_passeport.pdf.pdf should i worry ?? i will send my documents again ??
January 23, 2020 at 15:57
Hi Brit,
My doubt is about the required police certificate:
i travelled many times to Dominican Republic, but each visit was less than 6 months as it was supposed to be. But i stayed 3 years at total. What do they mean exactly with `6 months` for the police certificate ?
Should i get a police certificate also from Dominican Republic ?
January 23, 2020 at 20:59
To avoid delay – get the certificate.
January 23, 2020 at 16:57
Hello Simon,
I am from Myanmar ( Burma) and my case number is AS2020 17xxx. I have already received “ Document received” email from KCC since 13 Jan. Now , waiting for interview.Last few days, I saw one new regarding travel ban that “ Trump administration plans to expand seven counties for travel ban to USA”. Myanmar is one of the seven countries. If this plan is approved, will it affect on our DV visa process??Hope, my interview will be on May..
Thanks,
Chu

I cannot answer about details for something that has not been published!
January 23, 2020 at 19:59
Hey Brit,
Hope everything is well.
CASE #2020EU00024309
I have submitted all the documents on November 8th but never heard back since.
I have emailed them and called, to see if they were satisfied but they said my DS wasn’t processed yet, so I resubmitted all the documents as they suggested.
1) Any chances I’m gonna get the 2NL in February even if I don’t get that confirmation email?
2) Anything else I could do other that yoga and meditation?
Thank you so much for your time,
Leo
January 23, 2020 at 21:10
1. Technically yes. You actually *receiving* an email is not part of their process.
2. Golf? (although you could ask them again, there is no way to speed them up).
January 23, 2020 at 21:22
Hello? If I get two guarantees, one from NEW YEARS and the other from Michigan is a problem if I send two guarantees despite one of them achieving 125% ?? But I want to get two guarantees to be sure
January 23, 2020 at 21:28
I assume you are talking about the I-134???
They want one. You can take 876 to the interview if you want – they only want 1. No prizes for extra forms.
January 23, 2020 at 21:36
yes I’m talking about I-134. I’m asking you a problem or not? not asking you how much I can get 1 or 10,000
January 23, 2020 at 21:49
I answered.
January 23, 2020 at 23:48

i have one more and last question..?

January 24, 2020 at 00:15
Normally it arrives within 2 to 3 weeks. If it takes longer than that, so to the SSA office.
January 24, 2020 at 02:35

January 24, 2020 at 16:39
Do what you can do.
1. Apply or a replacement.
2. Keep looking.
3. Attend the interview with the printout.
January 24, 2020 at 07:21
Hello Brit,
My CN is AF48*** and I submit my ds on August after I add the social media question and submit my documents on November 4, but recently I read on one of the forums about the newly added questions on ds260. So should I unlock and add them or leave it us it is?
January 24, 2020 at 16:51
Since you are waiting for your case number anyway, yes unlock.
January 24, 2020 at 17:10
Pls what’s the question abt ? Help someone of us who are not aware
January 24, 2020 at 08:05
22/10/2019 they sent an email that they need further document.
10/11/2019 we sent a document
18/12/2019 They sent an email that explain they have received the documents and ready to be scheduled.
My brothers case no is : AF22***
He hasn’t received 2NL yet even if his VB was in February. My question is, what if they not send 2NL for march too? Should we contact kcc?
January 24, 2020 at 16:54
No – just wait.
January 24, 2020 at 09:18
Greetings mr Brit, please am worry about this few questions
1) can I summit document at the early February and get ready and schedule for interview, at the same month my case number is AF35*** will soon me current HV not summited yet.
2) can it be possible that people getting a late interview can visa get finished maybe two months to the end of the program August and September
3) is it risk to HV an interview in August and September.
January 24, 2020 at 16:59
1. It won’t be in the same month. Submitting documents in February will mean a May interview at best, perhaps June.
2. Some people will miss out because they don’t pay attention.
3. Somewhat increased risk over earlier months, yes.
January 24, 2020 at 09:25
Please i did post a question here why i don’t get replies?
January 24, 2020 at 17:00
Because I sleep sometimes. Learn to use some patience!
January 24, 2020 at 11:22
When will the statistics for dv 2021 be published?
January 24, 2020 at 17:06
Statistics?
People will be able to check their entry status in May.
January 24, 2020 at 12:07
Hey Brit
I reopened my DS260 to answer the questions but I am experiencing difficulties in signing and submitting. The sign and submit icon is inactive. Please help. CN: AF52K.
January 24, 2020 at 17:07
Is it unlocked? If it says “completed” it is not unlocked. Be more clear.
January 24, 2020 at 12:35
Dear Sir Simon! Hope you are well!
I have a question regarding 1040 form which is not accepted at my country embassy. I wanted to know which is the other form for tax transcript. Beacause at the instructions it is only stated that 1040 form is not accepted.
Many thanks for your support!
God bless you sir !

Dear Brit
Good day , I am one of thousands people who benefit from your blog until i got my visa and landed in the US -MA state and received my GC for my and my family after 4 weeks then travelled again to complete my settlements abroad and come back for final and enroll in the community, i went of US last Sep 2019 and now planning to move back in 15 days which in total I will be less than 180 days outside US my questions as following please :
1/ My origin from the countries which Trump will announce to add new bans for it . So as Green Card holder will effect my return ?
2/ upon return I believe i will face questions at airport such where you went and what the purpose which i will name the countries i visited as well I will mention as vacation so is there any risk of not allowing me or my family to enter the country ? As far as I know less than sx month no law to reject my entry or affect my GC please can you advise ,????
January 24, 2020 at 17:10
1. No
2. You are worrying for nothing. Relax.
January 24, 2020 at 12:56
Hi Simon,
Just one more question. We forgot to add my spouse’s one job which lasted only few days (she had to sign a contract which was valid longer than she actually worked). Is it important to add this job ASAP or it’s rather not necessary? We didn’t get 2nl yet.
Thank you in advance,
Damian
January 24, 2020 at 17:10
No need to add that.
January 24, 2020 at 14:53
Dear Simon,
Happy New Year!
In my DS-260 which I sent to KCC some time ago, I asked for my Green Card to be mailed at a friend’s address in NYC. Now it looks like I won’t be moving to NYC but to Hawaii, and I am planning to fly there directly from Japan (with no stopover in NYC).
1/ Can I ask KCC to change the mailing address for my Green Card and have them send it to Hawaii where I also have friends during my final interview?
2/ Or should I ask them to reopen my DS-260 to change the mailing address?
3/ Can I leave it as it is and simply ask my NYC friend to mail my Green Card to Hawaii?
Many thanks.
Best wishes,
Claire

Hi Simon!
I have a question regarding public charge. My name is hesham and i am from bahrain (gulf country ), i am 25 years old (Not married) and am a civil engineering graduate as i have been working in civil engineering in the past three and a half years. I have good savings and my father is a doctor who is willing to support me financially at any time needed. I can provide a bank statement with 20,000 to 25,000 $ includes my savings and some financial support from my father. My question is do i still need to bring I-134 affidavit of support with me to the interview ? Or the bank statement is enough accompanied by a letter signed from my father stating he is ready to support me financially whenever needed? I have an interview after ten days.
Looking forward to hearing from you
Thanks,
Hesham

Dear Brit Simon,
Thank you for all your support.
I have a question regarding sending of req. documents to KCC after they ask.
So i have received from KCC mail to submit all documents.
I have sent all documents in October and mentioned the Case number, but not from the E-mail where i receive the mail from KCC, i have sent from another Email which is mentioned in my DS260.
My Case is not current yet 2020EU40*** , do i need to contact KCC, or its ok?
Is it obligatory to send scans from the Mail to which the request from KCC came?
Thank you~!
January 24, 2020 at 19:48
Dear Mr. Brit,
I am a 2020 DV winner case number 2020AS16xxx.
I sent the documents to “[email protected]” on Oct 8, 2019, and I received the autoreply email that everything is alright. However, I called KCC two weeks ago to make sure that the email was received and they informed me that they did not receive the documents email. Therefore, I sent the documents twice on Jan 15, 2020, and Jan 16, 2020, to make sure that they were received and I received the autoreply email for both.
I tried to contacted them via email and in their reply they mentioned that “Documents are processed in numerical order”. I know some friend with higher case number and they received the confirmation email.
How can I confirm that they received the email and the previous problem was solved?
Best regards
January 24, 2020 at 23:44
Best ay is to phone them.
January 25, 2020 at 05:03
I called them no use, they said ” we cant help you until your case is current.”
January 25, 2020 at 05:24
That makes no sense. You are clearly not communicating correctly with them.
January 24, 2020 at 21:29
Hello ,
Mr; when vb is current, kcc randomly selects the case numbers or by ordres
January 24, 2020 at 23:43
The order is not known.
January 24, 2020 at 22:57
Hi Brit,
I have a question about l-134 form.
Has the sponsor to complete the form only for the principal applicant or for both ? We are married.
January 24, 2020 at 23:42
One form covers the applicant and all derivatives.
January 25, 2020 at 04:08
Dear Brit,
What if i have sent all of my documents to the KCC and everything is ok, but i have missed my interview day, i know it is a big mistake but can i apply again or there is some way to retake that interview, another question what if i got my visa stamp but i did not travel within 6 months, as i have another B1/B2 visa can i travel later to get my GC or i should travel within the 6 months period only.
January 25, 2020 at 05:26
You can contact the embassy to re-arrange. If successful you will have a set time for entry which cannot be extended. If these things are too unimportant to you to take seriously, perhaps you should not proceed.
January 25, 2020 at 12:46
Hi.
My Case number is 2020AFxxx51 i sent my all the documents last year november and still waiting to be scheduled for an interview but i know my case is way no soon my question is what is the estimate month for my reply email from the KCC
January 25, 2020 at 15:47
Is your number 51XXX range? That won’t be current for 2 or 3 more months – but you want to check with KCC that they are satisfied with your documents.
January 25, 2020 at 17:58
Thank you BritSimon
January 25, 2020 at 13:34
Hi Brit,
When sending documents to KCC,I sent my translated birth certificate but not the original birth certificate and I’ve already been scheduled. Is this going to be a problem at the interview???Thanks in advance
January 25, 2020 at 13:53
And KCC didn’t tell me anything about it being satisfied with my documents.
January 25, 2020 at 15:49
But you have an interview date – right?
January 25, 2020 at 23:25
Yes it’s 4th of February next week.
January 25, 2020 at 15:48
I don’t think so.
January 25, 2020 at 16:15
Thank you sir
January 25, 2020 at 15:11
2020AS23×××
DS260 submitted 2019/07/11(as a single )
KCC sent to me documents submission email 2019/10/16
I sent a mail to unlock my DS 2020/01/24
( I want to add my spause ,because I married 2020/01/17)
KCC sent to me to submit my new DS260.
Can I make some revisions about two things .My questions are …
1) (My sponsor’s address’s number) .It wrote there “2019” I want to put “201 J” can I do that ?
2) (My job starting date) It there “5th “. I want to put “6th”.Can I do revisions ?
3) again will I need to still wait from KCC for documents submission email ?
Thank you Brits ..
January 25, 2020 at 15:52
1. Yes
2. Yes
3. No
January 25, 2020 at 17:33
Brit FYI, processing the docs are in a new KCC unit. it is still KCC but we have no way to contact them. if you call KCC and your number is not current you will not get any information about the docs. Also, the email that the docs are fine is from that unit and you will have to contact KCC and remind them that you are current and ask them to confirm that all the docs are fine.
January 25, 2020 at 17:53
Yes, I have posted about that previously.
January 25, 2020 at 23:23
Hi Dorg,
Actually I’ve already been scheduled and KCC confirmed that my documents are okay but I had a double as I only submitted the English translated BIRTH CERTIFICATE NOT THE ORIGINAL BIRTH CERTIFICATE and that’s why I wanted to know if there’s any problem with my documents.
January 25, 2020 at 23:37
Hi Sebastián how are you? Where are you from? What is your cn SA o Eu?
January 26, 2020 at 11:13
Hi Rafael,
I’m doing well and hope you’re fine too.Am from Srilanka(AS65##)
January 25, 2020 at 21:28
Hi Simon!
Another question, can a green card holder sponsor me?
January 25, 2020 at 22:03
Yes
January 25, 2020 at 23:32
Hi Brit,
I am the principal applicant and I’ve unlocked and added my spouse’s ds260 after I got married (a representative did all the procedures).
After checking on CEAC my DS260 appears as single although my spouse’s ds260 is added there and it’s noted as “SPOUSE”.
My question is, should my ds260 read as married and with my changed surname or should it look like I had originally submitted it?
January 25, 2020 at 23:36
It should be married, with your new name.
January 25, 2020 at 23:48
KCC has already sent me the supporting documents email which I’ve sent. I’m eu55K so I don’t think there is any problems, right? Do I have to resend the supporting documents (marriage certificates, birth cert. etc?)
January 25, 2020 at 23:55
If they have a complete set of documents for both you and your spouse, that’s all they need.
January 25, 2020 at 23:58
So considering they have all the documents I submitted for me and my husband (submitted both my old and new surname documents), do I still need to change the DS260 too? Sorry to ask these repeating questions, just wasn’t clear if I had to re-unlock ds260 after I’ve already sent my marriage documents
January 26, 2020 at 00:11
I already answered that.
January 26, 2020 at 01:31
Hi Brit, good day!
Thanks for the support given out to all the DV applicants!
Checking with you, if you have heard of anyone needing to provide more documents regarding social media info to the embassy after the interview simply because they had submitted the DS 260 before they added the social media questions?
I submitted my DS 260 before they implemented the social media question. Then got confirmation by KCC that DS260 and docs all in order in early December. Now expecting to be interviewed in march. So I am thinking if they are going to ask this question, I can prepare them and take it to the interview. I know I sound paranoid haha, but I am trying not to leave any loose ends :).
Thanks again!
January 26, 2020 at 01:58
Yes, I have heard that happened in some cases.
January 26, 2020 at 02:38
Ok thank you for this info.
Do you know which form number I need to prepare for this? I am guessing each person who submitted DS-260 needs to have it if they ask for it.
January 26, 2020 at 03:00
is it DS-5535?
January 26, 2020 at 06:11
DS-5535
January 26, 2020 at 02:56

Hello!
My case number is AF00040***. I filled ds 260 on may and send documents on october. But when sending documents KCC informed that it will reply with in 6 weeks. But still does not reply. What shall I do? The passport I send has the validity up to august 2020 shall I renew my passport and adjust ds 260?
Thanks

Contact KCC and ask them if they are satisfied with your documents. Renew your passport and take both old and new to the interview.

Hi Brit, I have a checking account with 6k$ and another (husband) with 16k$. I also have a sum (9k$) in the company, indicated on the pay slip. It’s okay to show the paycheck or better request it and put it in the checking account? We are two adults and one child, with about 40k$. it’ll be fine?thanks! EU29xxx

You should only have one husband.
The money should be OK, and I-134 is safer.
January 26, 2020 at 19:36
Thanks Brit. But if I don’t have a sponsor to present the I-134, am I comfortable with the money? when my husband and I leave work (after interview), we will have another $ 20k. In total we will have $ 60k and another $ 15k for car sales (after interview).we will explain it to the interview, I hope it’s okay! is it a good strategy? Thanks Brit

My wife is a DV2020 selectee (she is the primary applicant). I predict that we will be current in May or June, which means that we will realistically not be ready to relocate before September or even later.
I am planning to travel to the US without my wife in July for a conference (and potentially some job interviews) on a B1/B2 visa that I already have.
I know that I won’t be able to enter as a LPR without my wife because she is the primary applicant. But will I be able to enter on my B1/B2 visa as a tourist?
January 26, 2020 at 17:15
No – once you have the visa your next entry is to activate your status. You must be with your wife for the first entry as she is the principal selectee. Rethink your plan.

Hello dear Brit, I love your site and I am finding it very useful.
I finished college one week ago, and 4 days ago I have been informed that my Interview is scheduled for March. Obviously, my highest level of education in DS260 is still a high school.
So, my question is:
What do you recommend, should I contact embassy to inform them I finished my college, or it is enough to prove that with diploma at the day of my interview?
THANK YOU SIR, GOD BLESS YOU and your family!

On the day is OK.

Hmmm, as student visa holder, you should study how to write an email or asking question, different between lower and upper case, and the impact to the reader, just saying though
