Hello BritSimon!
EU17***, Russia, the documents were checked by KCC, waiting for interview date.
Two questions:
1) I got married after the release of results, got DS260 unlocked and changed.
Do I need to send a photo of my spouse to KCC as well?
2) I am going to get relocated due to work to another country some time in February/March, do I need to notify KCC about the change of current address and ask DS-260 to unlock? Or I can just mention that on the interview?
Thank you!

Regards,
Almaz
February 1, 2020 at 19:45
1. No.
2. If you do not change your address, KCC will base your interview location on your current country.

February 1, 2020 at 20:07
Need some clarification ,your help is highly appreciated ,,my question is once somebody won the DV lottery and got visa,,should the other one also face the interview with immediate effect and migrate at the same time? Is there any possibility to delay the immigration of the spouse for about one year? Thank you….
February 2, 2020 at 01:02
What other one??? A spouse would normally interview with the main selectee.
February 2, 2020 at 02:42
Yes her interview has been called in 3 weeks time.but she wants to delay the migration for about one year due to some personal issues,,but what she is told by others is once the interview is over she will also get the visa and should migrate with the husband at the same time within 6 months period before his medical is expired and if she doesn’t do so she will not be able or will be very difficult to get to him after about one or two years…your kind reply is highly appreciated at this controversial time…thank you .?? ? ?
February 2, 2020 at 04:54
Sponsoring her later will take around 2 years and is a more complex and expensive process.

February 2, 2020 at 00:59
You are a USA refugee?
February 2, 2020 at 06:08
I thought citizens of those banned countries staying in other countries are safe..!… isn’t it like that dear brit..?
February 2, 2020 at 16:12
No. If the person has a second citizenship/passport (from a non banned country) then they are OK.
February 1, 2020 at 21:54
Hi Brit,

February 2, 2020 at 01:00
Yes, that is one of the ways to be exempted from the ban.
February 1, 2020 at 22:18

Very Thankful For your kind Response, waiting for it
February 1, 2020 at 23:22
Hello Brit please apart from all our documents is der a need to take other documents from our sponsor in the USA like his Tax information or Bank statement for them to go through it during the interview
February 2, 2020 at 00:51
Please read the FAQ.
February 2, 2020 at 00:52
Hello sir greetings.. When shall i expect 2nl for case no. AS135**
February 2, 2020 at 01:08
When do you think?
February 5, 2020 at 15:26
May be in april/may
February 2, 2020 at 03:38
Hi there,
In case of newly added banned countries, would their visas be re-allocated to the same region or at all?
February 2, 2020 at 04:50
Same region first of all, unless there is no further demand in that region. However, that assumes there would be time to re-allocate visas, which is unlikely given the pace to date.
February 2, 2020 at 06:25
Hi BritSimon
I’m the case number 2020AF10xxx.
I and 6 family members were interviewed in January and the CO ask me to schedule an additional consulate appointment to bring family photos. Do the new requirements of public charges should be applied on me because my appointment in on March?
February 2, 2020 at 16:14
No.
February 2, 2020 at 06:47
Hi Simon,
My case number is 2020OC17XX. I’m currently located in Australia, and have submitted my Dv-260 but not my documents. In May 2020, I’m relocating to London on a working visa, but I would still like to pursue the green card. Can you please let me know if the below steps are correct?
– unlock DV-260 in May once I’ve moved to London and update current address to London address.
– email KCC and ask for interview location to be changed from Sydney to London.
– submit documents and have interview in Aug/Sep.
– fly to USA within 6 months of visa issuance to activate.
– then return to London and I’ll have 12 months from that activation trip to move to the USA permanently?
If all of the above is correct and legitimate to your knowledge, can you please advise whether I need to stay in the USA on my activation trip until the green card gets physically posted to me?
Thanks In advance for reading my long winded post!
February 2, 2020 at 16:16
That is all OK, BUT you will be leaving the document processing until quite late. Do everything as soon as you have moved.
You don’t need to stay in the USA for the GC delivery.
February 2, 2020 at 07:47
Hi simon
I’m dv 2020AS120**, I was born in UAE but I’m from Sudan with Sudanese passports, I don’t have a citizenship of UAE , dose the travel ban effect me ??!!
Thanks
February 2, 2020 at 16:18
You should be unaffected to my understanding
February 2, 2020 at 09:03
Hello mr brit… regarding the travel ban by Trump
I saw an article that says
‘ ‘ ‘ ‘ ‘ ‘ ‘ ‘ ‘ ‘ ‘ ‘ ‘ ‘ ‘ ‘ ‘ ‘ ‘ ‘ ‘ ‘ ‘ ‘ ‘ ‘ ‘ ‘ ‘ ‘ ‘ ‘ ‘ ‘ ‘ ‘ ‘ ‘ ‘ ‘ ‘ ‘ ‘ ‘ ‘
“Starting February 22, immigrants from Kyrgyzstan, Myanmar, Eritrea, and Nigeria will no longer be able to obtain visas allowing them to immigrate to the US permanently, according to a senior administration official. But they will be able to come to the US on temporary visas, such as those for foreign workers, tourists, and students.
The proclamation also bars citizens of those countries, as well as Sudan and Tanzania, from participating in the diversity visa lottery under which 55,000 citizens of countries with low levels of immigration can come to the US annually. Refugees and existing visas holders will not be affected.”
‘ ‘ ‘ ‘ ‘ ‘ ‘ ‘ ‘ ‘ ‘ ‘ ‘ ‘ ‘ ‘ ‘ ‘ ‘ ‘ ‘ ‘ ‘ ‘ ‘ ‘ ‘ ‘ ‘ ‘ ‘ ‘ ‘ ‘ ‘ ‘ ‘ ‘ ‘ ‘ ‘ ‘ ‘ ‘ ‘
does this mean refugees who are citizens of the banned countries but living in different countries(asylum given)are still on the DV lottery…??
My friend (Eritrean) is in Ethiopia, he sent all thw documents, and is waiting for interview…his case num is 36***…??
February 2, 2020 at 16:18
I just posted about that yesterday.
February 2, 2020 at 17:01
With respect dear brit..thru the past years, most Eritreans were escaping to Ethiopian refugee camp after the announcement of DV lottery, if they found out to b selected. The reason is bc it’s not possible to get Eritrean passport even if u r citizen. So the option is to get a travel document from refugee camps around…so he is Eritrean refugee in Ethiopia..not Eritrean with Eritrean passport!!!..so does this affect him..?
February 2, 2020 at 17:18
Being a refugee in country XXXX does not mean that the USA has accepted the person as a refugee to enter the USA – right?
February 2, 2020 at 19:29
But this guy is DV lottery winner and Refugee…i mean he got a VISA allocated for him, bc his CN# is fine…as long as he perform well at the interview and being a refugee, don’t u think he will win the VISA..?
February 2, 2020 at 19:39
I can’t say for certain. You seem to be combining things in your mind, and I am trying to point out the difference. Think about this. If getting round the ban is as simple as declaring oneself a refugee, it wouldn’t be much of a ban would it?
February 2, 2020 at 09:27
Hi,Simon! How are you?
I’m 16 at that time and from Bulgaria.I would like to ask you if there is any chance that I could move to the USA.I want to graduate in high school and then apply for University .My parents support me, so they will sign whatever is needed. We have a family friends that have been approved for green card and should send documents .Can we do something so I can go and live with them?
Thank you in advance and wish you a lovely week!
February 2, 2020 at 16:30
I’m sorry – I only answer DV lottery questions.
February 2, 2020 at 09:57
Dear brit… regarding bans..
Shudnt citizens of the banned countries continue DV process if they are at camp of different countries as a refugee??..and having travel document given by UNHCR office.
February 2, 2020 at 16:32
They can try. I’m not clear on your refugee process, but the USA only accepts a small number of refugees each year.
February 2, 2020 at 19:37
I think being DV winner and Refugee has a privilege..!! Coz they got one visa from the 50000 visas, not from few visas allocated for refugees..!… what do u think about that ??
February 2, 2020 at 19:46
I’m failing to see your point. You seem to want to mold the answer to what suits you.
February 2, 2020 at 11:14
Dear brit… regarding

The idea of making the data public is so people can use it themselves. Take a look!
February 2, 2020 at 11:28
Hi Simon, first of all, thank you for all your work helping people with the DV Lottery. Do you have any insight on how much savings the London consulate expects applicants to have? I work full-time and I have a BA (Hons) degree, but I don’t have relatives in the US. My savings are 150% of the current FPL for single person. Do you think I might need my friend in the US to pledge her financial support?
February 2, 2020 at 16:36
Savings are subjective, an I-134 would be better.
February 2, 2020 at 11:49
Dear Britsmon, You told me that as if I have another Sponsor since my former Sponsor sponsoring another additional guy . But that guy has already issued or granted Visa. Besides, I have already submitted the required documents . Now I’m waiting Validity of my documents and 2NL for interview. So that how I can have another sponsor since have already filed my former sponsor on DS260 form ? please help me!
February 2, 2020 at 16:38
The address you gave for the USA could be different to the person who sponsors you.
February 2, 2020 at 12:44
Dear Brit,
first of all thank you and xarthisius for all the effort. For EU, I looked at the data and found out that:
Response rate: %52.8 -> %55.7
AP and Refused Rate: %17.7 -> %15.6
Derivative Rate: 2.185 -> 2.226
(Comparison between “Current 8600 – January data” and “Current 10300 – February data”)
In the past years comparison, I didn’t see this much of growth in just one month. What do you think about this? Furthermore, do you think that there will be even more growth?
Sincerely.
Z.
February 2, 2020 at 16:42
It’s not worth comparing month to month like that – not this early.
February 2, 2020 at 13:08
1-Does the new travel ban on specific countries would increase the number of visas to the other countries in the same region? (especially for Africa as it is expected to face cutoff numbers) .
2-If not in which side it will effect DV 2020 in general?
3-could you please update your prediction according to the current situation with all the changes that happened till now.
4-how can you describe Egypt condition in (Africa region )
5- for now 58000 AF Egypt is in safe or not
February 2, 2020 at 16:43
1. Yes
2. NA
3. No. Wait and see.
4. See 3.
5. See 3.
February 2, 2020 at 13:57
Hello Brit.
I’m from one of the banned countries but my immigrant visa interview is on the 24th of February. Do you have any idea if I can still be granted or possibilities of what might happen?
My mum is a lawful resident and She filed for me in 2017.
February 2, 2020 at 16:45
The ban will be applied, BUT the CO might consider a waiver application.
February 2, 2020 at 17:07
Thank you for your response. I have few clarifications to make on the waiver application.
1. How long does the waiver application take?
2. What are the chances of this application being granted?
2. Also are you saying I have no chances of being granted even with the fact that my mum filed for my petition in 2017?
3. Is it only the Consulate officer that can apply for a waiver on my behalf?
February 2, 2020 at 17:15
1. Weeks/Months
2a. I don’t have any data to support an answer.
2b. No
3. Yes
February 2, 2020 at 17:28
Okay back to 2b, Since your response is No, does that mean that I might be granted at the interview if I’m found eligible?
Also, if the ban is applied but I’m found eligible with all my necessary documents presented, is it compulsory for the CO to submit a waiver application?
February 2, 2020 at 18:24
Oh my. Round and round.
Your first question is pointless if you think about the answer.
No it is not compulsory for the CO to apply for a waiver.
February 2, 2020 at 14:34
hi brit,
Thanks for your great help I got my dv visa for me and my family including my daughter infant and husband in january2020. And I donate amount to support britsimsonsays.com although your great work is priceless.
I booked tickets and paid for my green card preparation and hoping to travel to usa in end of next april 2020
my question is will that new public charge rule effect us in anyway. I mean in the Port of Entry. do they deport people if they found anyone likely to become public charge in future.or after we land to usa .
February 2, 2020 at 16:46
No, it won’t affect you. But do make a plan to not use any public assistance programs.
February 2, 2020 at 16:59
Hello Brit! My case number is 2020EU20*** . I think I am current for March but there is still no NL2. Should I be worry about that ? It’s already February and my status is still ”at NVC”.
February 2, 2020 at 17:19
Have you sent documents? When? Have they confirmed they are satisfied with your documents?
February 2, 2020 at 17:28
Yes. I send all the documents, and on 16.01.20 I received an email that they are satisfied with my documents and that I have to wait for an interview but still nothing. I texted to KCC to ask but I received some automatic email with no answer for my question.
February 3, 2020 at 07:41
Should I call them ? It’s alredy 3th of February and I still don’t have 2NL
February 3, 2020 at 17:25
When did you send documents? Have you checked if they are satisfied with the documents? When did they reply?
February 3, 2020 at 18:27
I send my DS-260 on 11.07.19. On 05.11.19 I send all the other documents that they wanted. On 16.01.20 they send me an email that they received all my documents and that I have to wait for a date for an interview. But as I understood they should send the 2NL till the end of January. Am I right ?
February 3, 2020 at 19:05
You were too late for January – so now you will get a 2NL in February (for April interview)
February 3, 2020 at 19:36
I am in the same boat here. You still need to verify that your documents are all good with KCC. the email you got is from kccdv “Documents Received”.
February 3, 2020 at 20:00
The poster says they received that email – hence why I answered as I did.
February 2, 2020 at 17:36
Hello, I am the winner of the 2020 lottery, I have listed in the application the passport I lost even though it did not expire. I took out a new one with a new number, is it a problem if I enter a new one in ds260 that I have’t filled in yet
February 2, 2020 at 18:25
This makes no sense. If you have not submitted your DS260 they know nothing about your passport yet.
February 2, 2020 at 17:39
Hi Brit..my case number is AF32***..i received an email from kcc requesting for further documents but I sent all the documents in November last year..i however lived in a foreign country for less than a year, seven months to be precise..do you think the police certificate from the foreign country is what they are requesting for? What should I do? Should I resend the documents?
February 2, 2020 at 18:27
You need to check the documents you sent. Most likely they were not complete, or properly referenced and that is why they are saying they don’t have them.
As for the other country – please read the instructions to see whether a police cert is needed or not.
February 3, 2020 at 02:17
I have reviewed the documents i sent and they seem okay. i have also read the insructions and a police cert is not required from the other country because i stayed there for less than 12 months…i am honestly confused…
February 3, 2020 at 17:14
You are confused because you are not paying attention to my previous answer.
February 3, 2020 at 18:44
Yeah..i called them and I was told that I was missing the police certificate from the other country so I will work on getting it and send it right away..thanks for your response

Dear Sir,
2020AS15XXX
I have a bit annoying problem. currently, I’m working in B City and my home was in A City and residing from A city since age of 16. but when I’m trying to add my other residence (rented annex with few of my friends) I couldn’t add it in DS260 or police clearance certificate due to the time overlap it gives me validation error from both web sites. what should I do? is it can be a problem not include the annex address?
Because i can change B as my current residence by considering the days i spent on a week. but still i’m residing in A City. for weekends and its my home. all the my driving license, identity card indicates my residence as A city.
I hope to current in next month. but if i have to unlock, do i need to get back clearance certificate by indicating the new order of residencies or just bring it to the interview is sufficient?
Thank You.
February 2, 2020 at 19:42
Think about where you live. That is not temporary addresses for short periods of work etc.
February 2, 2020 at 20:05
I have added only my home address where i considering as my residence and all my mails are sent. I couldn’t add other address (lived for campus terms and work from 4-5 years now) due to the time overlapping with each other, because i’m living two places at a week. however, i added other all the things correctly. is this address issue can be a negatively effect to my case?
Thanks
February 2, 2020 at 20:37
Relax. Not a problem.
February 2, 2020 at 19:09
Dear brit ,
In the kcc documents email it is mentioned that if u stay in more national country for six months than need to get police certificate . But i just went there for 3 times 1 month each visit so as per instructions I dont have to get it right ? I already got saudi police certificate .
2: can u give me idea when my number will be current ? , i will submit my ds and documents in this week . Do u think its late submission and its a risk now ?
February 2, 2020 at 19:42
1. You can do the math as well as I can.
2. Am I supposed to guess your number???
February 2, 2020 at 21:22
My CN is AS24xxx when u think it will be current and i will submit ds in this week do u think its a late submission and a risk
February 2, 2020 at 22:29
That number will get current – and this week is not too late.
February 2, 2020 at 19:31
I’m dv 2020AS28xxx winner, I was born in Saudi Arabia but I’m from Yemen with a Yemeni passport, I don’t have a Saudi citizenship.
1- Does the travel ban affect me?
2- I’ve submitted my ds-260 and submitted all the required documents on 22 October 2019 but still waiting for the satisfaction email from KCC. Do you think that my interview can be between May and June?

February 2, 2020 at 22:30
No.
February 2, 2020 at 22:45
OK .so in this case could i present to the embassy a bank reveal of $ 40,000 for a family of 5 ??? no affidavit
I think I would not find a sponsor who has such an income

Hi Simon,
My wife has been selected for the dv 2020. Our case number is AF26xxx and it’s current in March. I’m planning to immigrate with my wife to the US. I have two questions:
1) I submitted the ds 260 and the required documents to the KCC on January 2nd. But we didn’t receive a date for the interview yet (our case number becomes current in March). Should I worry about that and call the KCC? If not, when should I contact the KCC if they don’t schedule an interview for us?
2) I am fluent in English Since I lived in the US for many years but my wife doesn’t speak English (she is the applicant). Should I worry about that?
Thanks

1. No – you need to be patient. They may not have finished processing yet – so the earliest you could be scheduled is April, but more likely it will be May. So. Relax.
2. No

Hi Simon.
Based on the movement in the ceac data fron Jan to Feb for asia it seems that there will be a huge jump by around 5k i expect. What do you think?
February 3, 2020 at 00:42
If not more than 5k
February 3, 2020 at 03:52
How do you track that data? What’s your source?

For a family of 4 (parents, two kinds), how much savings do we need to have to demonstrate that we will not be a public charge?
If the money is currently in a term deposit, is it good enough? Or does it have to be liquid at the time of the interview?

Greetings Brit, I’ve got two questions.
1. My case number is current for March (AF00026***_Ethiopia) yet, I haven’t got 2NL thought my documents are processed and set to be scheduled for an interview. So, should I be patient till they send me the 2NL?
2. After all necessary things are filled and signed, can my sponsor send me the I-864 by email (scanned) and are valid to take them to the embassy?
I really appreciate for your reply in advance!
February 3, 2020 at 17:24
1. Do you have any other choice? Did you get an email confirming your documents are processed? If so, when?
2. You CANNOT use the I-864. Use the I-134, and yes it can be scanned/emailed.

Hi Dear
The office presenting my papers wants to send my papers by the old way of sending the papers
1-Can I send the papers from my mail?
Note that my mail is not registered in the ds260 form
2- Can I request to change the mail in ds260 from my mail?
3- In the event that the above is possible
Can he hurt me in any way
4 – I did not serve in the army
Is it necessary to send an army certificate?
February 3, 2020 at 17:27
You are being very unclear. WHAT PAPERS?

Hi Simon,
Thanks for your support man, you are the only one who gives all this support,
I am a DV winner AS, regarding the new public charge rules I don’t have cash but I own a flat worth almost 100k usd but it is under mortgage, remaining balance to the bank 20k, My family consistent of me my wife and 5 years old Son, but my wife is the principal not me
1- do you think showing that ownership of the flat is enough
2- the flat under my name and as I mentioned my wife is the principal so is it okay
Thanks
February 3, 2020 at 17:29
1. No – that is not “liquid”.
Doesn’t matter whether it is yours or hers.

February 3, 2020 at 18:05
But you mentioned in the paragraph point no 2. Property/ assets
February 3, 2020 at 19:04
Yes, they consider it but they give much more important to “liquid assets”. Property is difficult because it often cannot be sold easily, cannot be valued simply and often has debt against it. The average interview lasts 5 minutes – they don’t have the time nor inclination to go into valuing apartments/cars and so on.

Thanks for your clarification

Hi Simon,
I am looking into entering the green card lottery DV2022. Will application be available in September 2020 this year?
Also, where do I go to look at the green card lottery as the website I have looked at ask for payment for entry.
February 3, 2020 at 17:29
October. DO NOT enter through any other website.

Hlo sir, I am from Nepal my case no. is 2020AS00000XXX my interview my was on 23rd October 2019 and at that time my case was on pending and I have submitted many documents as embassy ask and I got visa aswell as my family too on 27th December 2019. But on 21 November 2019 I gave birth to new baby and I applied for my new born baby and embassy replied to overcome section (4) (a) that how you will support family in USA explain and submitted document or you have to change sponsor who have high income and fill DS-260 form for newly born baby. And the visas which I and my family have receive will get again if I do not want to take my new born baby
Or what is the process now sir?
Or I can withdraw my process for new born baby sir
February 3, 2020 at 18:48
My advice would be to get another sponsor, and include the baby. It is shortsighted to do otherwise (as sponsoring the baby later will cost more money and take more time).

Hi Brit,my interview is on 15 the Feb,I have my i134 from sponser filled and signed.what other preparation do I need to handle the public charge new rule?
February 3, 2020 at 18:48
Nothing – as long as you have a suitable I-134 (and supporting documents) you should be fine.
February 3, 2020 at 14:03
My case number is AF39XXX. I have filled DS260. Also I have submitted the required documents.
1. Can I unlock my DS260 FORM to change my sponsor?
2. does it affect my case if i make revision?
February 3, 2020 at 18:53
1. Yes (but strictly speaking the address given in the DS260 is not necessarily your sponsor).
2. No
February 3, 2020 at 14:39
