HI Brit, AF 33K, while filing the I-134, my sponsor did not type the people he had previously sponsored although he had sponsored and hosted 2 immigrants between 2017-2019. can this be risky? secondly, the sponsor has a wife and kids that he supports back at home but who do not live in the USA. He did not either indicate that he supports people in section 10 (a) dependants information of the I-134. can it also be a problem for me during the interview ?and which dependants are being talked about, the ones he supports back at home? Thanks.
February 6, 2020 at 14:43
Excuse me, but are you talking about dvlottery l-134. Is it necessary?
February 6, 2020 at 17:58
yea, dv lottery affidavit of support. Thanks for the concern though.
February 9, 2020 at 08:13
I wasnt asked about the I-134 at my interview.
February 6, 2020 at 20:19
It can be risky, yes.
February 6, 2020 at 14:46
Dear Brit,
I am from Sri Lanka and I need to know the required documents for public charge. I have gone through your videos and blogs. Below is the required documents by USA Embassy, Colombo, Sri Lanka.
01.Form I-134 from the US sponsor. You must provide one of the following documents to accompany the Affidavit of Support.
– Internal Revenue Service(IRS) transcripts for the most recent tax year.
Question 01. I need to know whether the sponsor is aware about this document, I meant is there such a document for an employee in USA. Also let me know whether the most recent year is 2019.
-Fedaral Individual Income Tax returns with a copy of each and every form W-2 and form 1099 that relates to the petitioner’s /U. S sponsor’s return.
What do you suggest is the best supportive document from the above 2.
Thanks in advance!

Hi. I am a winner dv2020 AF50xx
I get married after winning the lottery.
I don’t know if I should add my husband or not. Because in country there too many denial of Visa for fake wedding. But, I am in a true relationship. Thanks
February 7, 2020 at 22:51
The fact that you even think it is an option is a clue why there are many denials in your country. TELL THE TRUTH. It’s not optional.
February 6, 2020 at 20:26
I don’t know. You can also pay after arrival.
February 6, 2020 at 17:40
Hello Mr. Simons,
My CN is 2020AS92XX is nearly to get scheduled, hopefully in next VB. And, I need to change the sponsor. Since there are less than two weeks time for the next bulletin, is it wise to ask KCC to unlock my DS 260? Will it delay my case? I have read many of your answers regarding the fact that we can notify the consular about the change of sponsor during interview. Will it make the case weaker? Please suggest me.
Thanks.
February 6, 2020 at 20:31
No need to change now. You can do that at the interview.
February 7, 2020 at 01:37
Thank you very much.
February 6, 2020 at 17:52
Mr. Simons,
Sorry I forgot to mention that I am from Nepal.

Hi Brit,
We’r case# 2020AS000044xx interview scheduled for 10 March 2020 in Riyadh. Following are my questions:
1- How long does the interview of the secondary applicant usually last and how comprehensive is it?
2- My spouse who is the secondary applicant has lived in 2 countries besides his native country. He has lived in Saudi Arabia and Qatar. He has provided all Police Clearances from home country of Pakistan and current country of residence i.e Saudi Arabia. We tried to get Qatar’s Police Clearance a lot but to no avail. My spouse lived there 17 years ago and there was a police case against him under an islamic law charge of “seclusion with a member of the opposite gender”. He completed his sentence / punishment and was deported in 2003.
Are you able to tell us if this could be something we could better prepare for and how?
Regards…
A.S
February 6, 2020 at 20:51
1. All applicants are interviewed together – often lsting only 5 minutes.
2. I don’t think any US CO will care about such idiotic charges.
February 7, 2020 at 01:53
Hello Brit,
I am a dv 2020 winner from AF region and I have one question? On all of my Dv required documents l use my grandfather’s name us NIGUSIE but on my high school diploma it was incorrect, and it has one spelling error; it is NIGUSSIE. So does this lead to rejection? Should I have to correct the document?
Thank you
February 7, 2020 at 02:45
No, that would not normally cause denial.
February 7, 2020 at 03:51
Hi Simon,
I requested to change the interview location because my residency has changed but kcc keeps sending me the same email again and again though I have done everything I was asked.
Thank you for your inquiry.
Once the DS-260 for the Principal Applicant has been submitted, the Interview Location can only be updated by the Kentucky Consular Center (KCC). Please send your request to [email protected]. You will need to include information that explains why you need the interview location changed. Unless they are in the U.S. and adjusting status, all applicants on the case will be scheduled for interview with the Principal Applicant. You should contact the U.S. Embassy or Consulate directly to arrange separate interviews, if needed.
If you need to change your interview location because your residency has changed, you will need to include the new address in your email along with your case number, Principal Applicant’s name, and complete date of birth in the following format (MMDDYYYY). You will also need to request that KCC unlock your DS-260, so that you can update your application with your new address. (Please note that Post Office Boxes and mailing addresses in care of another person do not justify a change of interview location.)
If your interview has already been scheduled, you must contact the embassy at which you have been scheduled to determine if your case can be transferred to a different location.
February 7, 2020 at 05:38
Their email is very clear. Do exactly as the email says.
February 7, 2020 at 04:05
Good evening Britsimon.
I’m with the CN EU32xxx. My wife’s passport will be expired on Jan 2021. Would you recommend to go to the interview with the current passport or apply for a new one and go with that one?
In case of going to the interview with the new one;
-Should we apply for a new one now (which may take at least a month to get) then unlock the ds and make the revisions?
-Or apply for it without rushing and take it with us to the interview? Do we need to make any changes or inform embassy or KCC about it before going there if we follow this path?
Thank you very much for your time.
February 7, 2020 at 05:39
You can decide.

Hello Simon,
Am from Ghana and i took part in 2021 dv lottery and my educational requirement have a birth date of my that is different from that on my passport and birth certificate, in case i win can this be a factors of my visa denial?…..if so, can i swore affidavit on the the change on my birth date on my educational certificate and will it be accepted by the embassy that way?
February 7, 2020 at 21:18
Really, unless you are selected, there is no point in thinking about this. The chance of selection is very low.
February 7, 2020 at 10:14
Hi Britsimon
Iam dv2020 seleften. My case number is pretty high EU49***. I got a pasaport which is going to expire Next month so ıam going to renew it. My question is should I open my ds-260 form to change my passport information or is it ok to take my new passport with me. They already asked for my documents just waiting to be current.
I got a 2nd question. If you have time to answer. My daughter is US citizen. She was born in USA on 2017. Will it be a problem or question during the interview. Iam not gonna take her with me but they will see her in my form. Thank you for your precious time and all your help.
February 7, 2020 at 22:44
1. You have time to wait anyway – so it would be best to renew your passport and update your DS260.
2. No problem, although COs will often ask you for proof that you paid all the expenses of the birth.
February 7, 2020 at 10:29
Hello brit, don’t have my certificate buy have my highcertificate school Result slipof and My HND.what is was my fate concerning Ds 260
February 7, 2020 at 22:45
I don’t know whether you meet the education requirements of not (which vary by country).
February 7, 2020 at 10:38
Hi Brit. I am Eritrean and if I use my Ethiopian travel document will I be safe from the travel ban.
February 7, 2020 at 22:46
I don’t know what you mean by travel document. Do you mean you are a holder of an Ethiopian passport? If so – yes you should be safe.
February 7, 2020 at 11:44
Hi Brit
1. We know that sending required documents we normally get an email after several weeks from KCC that documents are fine. Do we get an email after submitting DS260 if everything is fine?
1. My wife was previously married. Do I have to send her divorce certificate while sending documents? It only states if “you” were previously married then send the termination papers.
3. Does this also means I have to send police certificate for both of us.
CN:OC2000
February 7, 2020 at 22:48
1. Sometimes. But after DS260 and documents are sent and processed you can ask if KCC are satisfied, and their reply covers DS260 aAND documents.
1B. Send them.
3. Yes.
February 7, 2020 at 12:35
Dear Britsmon, If i get employment letter promise from USA, can improve my chance as not being public charge?
February 7, 2020 at 22:48
Yes – as long as it is a genuine offer.
February 7, 2020 at 13:14
Hi Brit,
Am from Ghana and am about to go for my interview, and am asking, my birth date on my educational documents is different from that on my passport and original birth certificate(which is the same on both)..i have sworn an affidavit on the one on my educational documents, will it have some bearing of granting me the visa?
February 7, 2020 at 22:49
Possibly. Accra embassy are nervous of small differences, often assuming fraud.
February 7, 2020 at 17:19
Hi Simon, can I send my child back to my home country for more than one year, after geting green card? And after one or two year I’ll bring my child back to US. Will we get in trouble?
February 7, 2020 at 22:52
You would need to apply for a re-entry permit while in the USA.
February 7, 2020 at 20:21
I’m on an E3 Visa at the moment but my DV lottery number is coming up! Trying to work out if I should apply outside of the country or AoS. My main concern is that I have an apartment, etc. here that I would need to come and give up/move my stuff if my Green Card isn’t approved. Do you know if they’ll let me back in if it’s not? Couldn’t find in the FAQs, sorry if it’s been asked before!
February 7, 2020 at 23:01
It’s not wise to make an assumption about that. In my experience, people in similar positions have NOT lot their original status – but be cautious. AOS may be a better path if that is a concern.
February 7, 2020 at 23:11
At this point, I either want a green card or I’ll go home. So what I really need to know is that I can come back in the country at all.. even just on a tourist visa, to get my stuff/say goodbye!
February 7, 2020 at 23:15
Again. I cannot answer that with certainty – so I won’t try.
February 7, 2020 at 22:48
Hi sir simon my CN is 2020af69k from Egypt.mathmaticly, do yo think that high case number will have a chance for schudle an interview after presdant trump banned 6 countries ? Or am still at risk? thank you
February 7, 2020 at 23:02
Obviously there is some risk.
February 8, 2020 at 02:33
Thank you Sir simon for your efforts. I have more question. Even after President Trump banned 6 more countries and 4 of them belong to Africa. Is it helps the Af region to be current even egypt? Sorry because I’m worry
February 8, 2020 at 04:10
AF might get a boost, but Egypt has a different problem – the 7% cap – and for that reason there is a possibility that Egypt high numbers will miss out. All you can do is wait and see.
February 9, 2020 at 03:17
Thank you so much sir simon. God bless you and your life
February 10, 2020 at 11:30
Hi sir Simon, I have one more question. I heard you in a vedio said ” Egypt isn’t capped this year” what is that mean?
Thank you
February 10, 2020 at 19:08
Capped in the draw process. Read my “holes theory” article if you are interested in knowing more.
February 8, 2020 at 02:32
Hi Simon,
My family and I got our passports stamped in mid November last year with the 1-551 stamp after winning the diversity lottery. Now we have received request for payment to get our green cards. We are still trying to organise our affairs before we move to the US and really need until this November to get it all sorted. if I pay the USCIS Immigrant Fee now, will it mean we have to move over earlier? Say within six months of the payment?
Thanks
February 8, 2020 at 04:09
Your visas have an expiry date on them which is 6 months after the date of your medical. You cannot extend that period in any way. If you do not enter the USA by that expiry date, your visa will be worthless.
February 8, 2020 at 04:29
Hi Brit,
We have the interview on 20th Feb 2020 at Colombo. My brother in law is the US sponsor and he sent the signed Form I-134 scanned copy via email. Further, I requested original copy with IRS. He has already posted that documents but still we have not received. If we have not received the originals prior to interview, will it be ok to submit the scanned copies.
February 8, 2020 at 05:17
Yes
February 9, 2020 at 06:18
Hi Saman, Im from SL. What is your CN? All the best for your interview
February 9, 2020 at 09:18
I too..
February 8, 2020 at 05:37
Hello Brit,
We are a family of five and interviewed in Accra on the 4th of February and we received our passports with visas yesterday.
I’m very grateful for your support. The information you give has been really helpful in guiding us to prepare for the interview. You are right that it is good to over prepare. It helped. I wish to share our story. Any link?
Thanks once again.

February 8, 2020 at 12:21
Dear brit thanks for your continuous support and assistance i have one more question in my mind and the question is :
1) I was quite worried about my sponsor so i asked two different people of my contact living in U.S.A to sponsor me. And now the problem is both of them had filled i-34 forms for me. does filling two i-34 forms can cause me any trouble during interview?
2) Can it be the cause for A.P or background check or any refusal.
please help me out i am really very worried as i am in the final stage.
February 8, 2020 at 16:12
1. You only submit one. That’s all.
2. See 1.
February 8, 2020 at 15:04
Hello Mr. Britsimon
Many greetings u n your family.
Hope you are doing great.
I am Dv 2020 winner and my case number is AF252xx w/c is current now,
I have 4 questions.
1. For social media question there are accounts i used previously but some of them i dont remember the username or password. Forexample if i dont knw the password do i hve to mention that account.
2.I-134 affidavit form, when my sponsor has to fill it before or after i submit the ds-260,
3.how do they send I-134 affidavit form. Do they email the form directly to the KCC, and also to me
Or they can just send it to me so i can add it to the other documents.
4.after signing in and completing the ds-260 form if i want to make some changes do i have to send request to KCC or i will able to update without sending request.
Thanks for ur kindly and constant support and guidance for us in this long journey.
May Almighty God bless u and ur family .
Hve a good time
February 8, 2020 at 16:17
1. Yes (they don’t ask for the password)
2. After. You need it for the interview.
3. email to you.
4. You have to contact KCC.
It is clear you have invested NO TIME in understanding the procedures. Read the instructions, read my FAQ. Take responsibility for your case.
February 8, 2020 at 15:12
Hello Simon,
I sent my DS260 this summer, since then,I visited USA once again. I’m EU27xxx do you thing I should ask KCC to unlock it and update it or should I be fine?!
Thank you
February 8, 2020 at 15:16

February 8, 2020 at 15:56
Hello Brit,
first I would like to thank you for all the support you give to us.
I’m a DV-lottery winner from Switzerland.
In 2015 I lived for 5 month in France and in 2018 for another 10 month. Do you think I need to send a French police certificate even if I did not live 12 continuous month in France?
Thank a lot for your answer!
Best,
Martin
February 8, 2020 at 16:18
If in doubt, get the police cert.
February 8, 2020 at 20:11
Hi, Simon
So I sent my documents about 2 weeks ago. Now, I understand that sometimes it takes more than 6 six weeks to process the documents, but should I contact them now to make sure everything is fine? Also, if you have some idea, does processing documents from Egypt usually take long time?
Thanks!
February 9, 2020 at 00:19
Best thing is to wait a few weeks. I don’t know the “typical” processing time for Egypt – I don’t think there is a “typical”.
February 8, 2020 at 23:53
Good morning Simon!
My CN is EU118xx, and I already have my interview scheduled for mid March. But, because of work I need to delay it some weeks (early april or so). How can I change the date of interview? Just calling to the Embassy? Can I choose aproximately the date of the new one, or they offer a closed new interview appointment? How much can be delay the new one?
And it can affect my possibilities of getting the Visa (only one month later)? Can I just call to know when can they rescheduled the interview and accept it or not in consecuense?
Sorry for all the questions, but I’m very worried about lose the Visa!
Thank you so much!
February 9, 2020 at 00:23
To change the date, you contact the embassy. How they handle changes varies by embassy. In general I advise people not to change, because the embassy won’t always do it right.
February 9, 2020 at 03:11
hello Brit ,
There is a column in DS260 education section “Degree, Diploma or Certificate Received ” what should we have to write in that for high school and degree ?
February 9, 2020 at 16:38
Use some common sense.
February 9, 2020 at 21:55
You write…use some common sense ?
February 9, 2020 at 06:44
Dear Sir,
I am from Sri Lanka, My Case no. is 17XXX
My wife is the Principal Applicant and she is having B.Sc Business Administration Degree and working as a auditor for 5 years. I am Chartered Accountant(professional qualification) and also having a B.Sc Accounting Degree. Currently, I am working as an Accountant in a multinational Company for 5 years. 2. I134 document request comes along with the 2NL or after the interview?
Thank You..
February 9, 2020 at 16:42
1. Possibly.
2. At or after the interview. That is why I advise people to go to the interview with an I-134.
February 9, 2020 at 06:45
Hi, i am applied dv2021 and my cauntry of citizenship is somalia, if i become one of the winners, and get other non-banned citizenship after application period, is there a chance to get green card visa?

February 9, 2020 at 13:24

1.Is there any possibilities to receive the 2NL this month?
2.Moreover regarding the Police Certificate in my country it is sent directly to the Embassy. (sent the coupon with the dox in Nov), but as i know it is valid only for 3 Month. Should we apply again at the post office for a new one?

1. Yes
2. Your choice.
February 9, 2020 at 13:38
I was using Hotmail but I’ve forgotten the user name and password. How do I list it or add it to my social media information?
February 9, 2020 at 16:46
You need the username.
February 11, 2020 at 14:03
If I can’t remember the user name and don’t mention it, will it cause any trouble?
February 11, 2020 at 19:20
I don’t know.
February 9, 2020 at 14:27
Good morning Simon!
I am Dv 2020 winner and my case number is AF35xxx , I have 2 questions.
1- Do you think départment of state will adopt the same rule as public charge for DHS ?
2- My wife is pregnant, will this affect the day of the interview if the public charge rule is applied?
February 9, 2020 at 16:48
1. What difference does that make?
2. Not if you are properly prepared.
February 9, 2020 at 16:26
Dear Mr. Brit
Thanks a lot for your usual support and your precious time.
My inquiry is about documents.
I`ve sent my documents two months ago, each document (front and back) and translation in separate pdf file yet a friend of mine in whatsapp gp with current small CN noted to me that he sent his doc like wise and latter on he received an email to combine doc and translation in one pdf file to have it reviewed.
1- My CN is 63xxx egypt, do i have to combine DOC and resend it?
2- Does it make any confusion to send DOC twice?
February 9, 2020 at 16:51
1. https://britsimonsays.com/document-procedure-modification/
2. No
February 9, 2020 at 16:47
Hi brit in what circumstances will a person qualify successfully for a immigration waiver. Does showing familial ties greatly increase your chance of getting a waiver. Or that you are a college educated person. Thank you
February 9, 2020 at 16:57
Education, no.
Family ties might help if they are very close family.
February 9, 2020 at 17:38
Hi Brit Simon
Just a question here
My CN is 2020EU18XXX
I received the confirmation for the processed documents on January 20th, which was too late for March interview.
On February 4th I received a second time the same email that my documents were processed, Does that mean that I’m not going to have interview in April too?
I’m confused please help me.
Thank you
February 9, 2020 at 19:00
Well, it depends on whether they really had finished in January, but then you prompted the 2nd email by asking again. Basically – you’ll know when you get the 2NL.
February 9, 2020 at 23:17
I didn’t ask them again.
When they sent the email on January 20th, I did not do anything, then on February 4th they sent me the email again.
February 9, 2020 at 23:52
Well that’s odd then – but nothing to worry about.
February 10, 2020 at 00:08
Probably it’s because I unlocked my ds260 at the end of January to answer the new questions of country visited.
February 9, 2020 at 18:49
Hi!
My case number is 27xxx in Eu.
I sent my documents on first days of November and I received only an authomatic reply.
Do you think I have to contact KCC to ask if my documents are okay or have been processed?
‘Cause I am reading of so many delay about reprocessing documents.

Yes contact them.

Hi!
I contact them .
Their reply :
Thank you for your inquiry.
After sending documents to [email protected], you will receive an automatic reply to your email. If there are no attachments, the auto reply explains there are no documents attached to the email. If there are attachments, the auto reply explains we received your email and are currently processing your documents. Please allow time for processing of your documents. Documents are processed in numerical order, based on lottery rank number. Once KCC has processed your documents, we will let you know if anything is missing or if we have received everything needed.
(And this is okay, but there is an other part that I Don’t understand and is):
Your DS-260 has been processed. You should have received, or will soon receive, an email from the Kentucky Consular Center giving you instructions to complete in order for your case to continue processing. Please follow the instructions in the email. Interviews are scheduled numerically based on case numbers that have completed processing. Interviews for the DV 2020 program will begin in October 2019 and conclude on September 30, 2020. Please refer to the visa bulletin at https://www.travel.state.gov to locate the current numbers being processed. This bulletin is updated after the 15th day of each month. Once an interview date has been scheduled, you will receive notification via email to check https://www.dvlottery.state.gov.
What’s mean that my DS-260 has been processed and I have to wait an other email “to complete in order for your case to continue processing”?
I thought that I have to wait only the processed documents email, isn’t it ?
What do you think they mean with this sentence?
Thank u for your time!

This email suggests they don’t have your documents. That means you may not have sent a complete set of documents, or not referenced them well.
Look very carefully at what they ask for and what you sent.
February 10, 2020 at 20:12
but this email does not say there is no attachment. It also If there are attachments, the auto reply explains we received your email and are currently processing your documents. Please allow time for processing of your documents. Documents are processed in numerical order, based on lottery rank number.
Once I submitted my in November I received an automated reply the auto reply we received your email and are currently processing your documents. Please allow time for processing of your documents.
February 10, 2020 at 20:44
I know what it says. Feel free to follow or ignore my advice.
February 10, 2020 at 21:12
Hi Simon, but I have sent our documents in November in the right order as requested 2020AF00938653_John_Doe_Birth_Certificate.pdf
PDF format. Was under 30mb
I received automated reply saying thank you for submitting your documents we are process them if something is missing we will let you know.
February 10, 2020 at 21:24
In my experience they DO NOT let people know if something is missing.
February 10, 2020 at 21:32
My case number is EU32xxx
February 10, 2020 at 21:35
My case number is eu32xxx, maybe I should wait
February 10, 2020 at 22:02
But I received the automatic confirm reply that they have received documents when I sent them on 11 November, in the same day.
However, I just called them and the girl who responded said that in this Time she’s unable to see my documents ’cause my case is still processing and to know more about that I have to wait a month and recall them, in that time they’ll be able to see my documents.
At the end of the call, when I said what I should do about documents, she said to me that if I have doubts I can resend them another time.
I am sure that I have sent all documents, I checked my email and there is the email of 11 November that I have sent , with complete set documents.
1)Do you think that I have to resend them? Or should I wait the email mentioned in the email received?
2)If I resend documents , this could cause a delay of my case?
3) Could be the problem DS-260 ? Or documents how we said?
4)Could be this an automatic reply that they send to whom that are in the “middle”, I mean whom have DS-260 processed and documents still processing?
Thank you so much!!!

“she said to me that if I have doubts I can resend them another time.”
So do that.

hello Mr.Brit ,
Im confuse in ds260 mailing address it says “This is the address where we will send correspondence regarding your application.” … i put my friend name in permanent address who i want to recieved the green card but what should be mention in mailing address ?
February 9, 2020 at 21:56
The mailing address is where you live now.
In another field there is a place for the USA address (a friend that can receive your GC).
February 9, 2020 at 21:56
GOOD Day sir!
I want to ask when you are invited for the interview, how do you take your papers? like do they need specific stamps? for instance my high school diploma was made in the USA by US school but I do live in Asia. I got my certificate shipped to me. Do I have to get a stamp from the US consulate or some institute to get it approved. Shall I not open the package? For translated documents are there requirements? I hope you understood my question
February 9, 2020 at 22:55
Stamps etc are not normally required unless YOUR local embassy expects them.
February 9, 2020 at 22:21
Hi Brit, I need your help please. I have 2 questions regarding the Form I-134. I appreciate all of your support!
1-Question #11 in I-134 is asking if the sponsor got the Citizenship through Naturalization (11-a) or through parents or marriage (11-b). The sponsor here was married and got divorced after 2 years of living in US then got the Citizenship after 5 years. So what is the answer to this question (11-a) or (11-b)?
2-Question#5 in I-134: Value of other personal property, I know that will include the value of owned car and does it include the household items such as furniture or appliance or jewelry?
Thank you in advance!

1. 11a.
2. No. No need to get too detailed. Just income. If that is sufficient that is all that is needed.
February 10, 2020 at 03:58
Thank you so much for our prompt reply!!!
God bless you!

Hi Simon,
My wife and kids don’t want to go to the US but I have filled out the from DS-260 under their names. I have 4 sons. 3 of them would like to say with their mom and one of them want to go with me. 1) Can I have the interview without them. My case is current and I think I’ll have an interview soon. 2) Should I contact to KCC to unlock their form DS-260?
February 10, 2020 at 18:45
1. Yes
2. You could inform KCC if you are certain. That way the embassy won’t be expecting them.
February 10, 2020 at 05:52
