Hi Brit, thanks for your good work, am case number 2020AF35*** summited my documents on January 28 received congratulations confirming the the document I sent on 7 February , pleaded base on your prediction can I received my 2nl for may interview. Thanks alot
March 14, 2020 at 21:31
Yes, probably.
March 14, 2020 at 21:51
Hi Brit,
Thanks for your incredibly useful website.
By way of background, I am currently in the U.S. on an F-1 visa and have recently submitted an OPT application (as my F-1 visa will expire this May). My Oceania CN is current for the month of April. I have not yet submitted my DS-260 or my documents to KCC, as I have been both deciding whether to apply for a green card and, if so, whether to AOS or CP. I had decided to AOS, but now with COVOID-19, I will be returning to New Zealand for a few weeks.
Given that I am returning, I am now thinking it may be easiest to pursue CP. However, I understand that this could delay my return home much longer than I would hope (subject to how long the U.S. takes to deal with the virus). My questions are:
1. If I submitted my DS-260 and emailed my documents to KCC promptly on your reply, would you be able to guess when I would receive a 2NL and when the interview would be? (E.g. April; early May; late May; June).
2. If I took the above steps but received a 2NL for an interview that is too late for my studies, and decided to abandon the green card application (I am not 100% set on taking it up if it will prejudice my studies here); would this likely have any effect on my ability to obtain an ESTA? (I understand that if I am outside of the U.S. on my F-1 for longer than 30 days, my F-1 would be considered abandoned).
Thank you in advance for your generous help!
March 14, 2020 at 22:18
1. There is NO chance for May, and June is also unlikely. So, if you submitted now, you are probably looking at July or August. AOS would probably be faster. And there is no way to predict what travel restrictions could be in place by then.
2. You would have declared immigrant intent. That doesn’t normally impact ESTA applications, but might affect any future non immigrant visas.
March 14, 2020 at 22:44
Hey Brit
I would like to ask if is it possible to enter the USA with an expired diversity visa ? And if is it possible to renew it or not ?
March 15, 2020 at 00:10
No it cannot be expired. It MIGHT be possible to extend it if the delay was UNAVOIDABLE.
This was all discussed in the video posted here – https://britsimonsays.com/coronavirus-covid-19-european-travel-ban/
March 15, 2020 at 02:28
Hi Brit.
1.Can the sponsor send form I 134 to the
embassy or KCC if he doesn’t want to
disclose his income? If so pls give the
procedure.
2. Can this affect the interview with the Co?
March 15, 2020 at 05:28
1. No. You take the I-134 to the interview.
March 15, 2020 at 05:28
Does this decision also affects me even though i’m not from europe ? Because my country due to precautions from the corona virus, it took a decision to ban travel in and out of the country until further notice and my visa expires at april 10th next month
March 15, 2020 at 15:40
Which decision?
March 15, 2020 at 16:04
Extend or delay my visa expiration date
March 15, 2020 at 16:16
That is not a certainty – and only the embassy can decide.
March 15, 2020 at 06:36
Greetings Mr.Brit! Hope you are doing well with all this critical situation about Covid-19 in the world. Stay safe!
EU25XXX case number, I have received a message that my documents have been reviewed and processed. CEAC website is still showing Completed on DS-260 form. Should I just be patient to get a 2nl? There is no any other notifications at this point?
Thank you for your advices. You are the real Guru)
March 15, 2020 at 16:07
Now you just remain patient. You may have been too late for scheduling for May interview, in which case you will have a June interview (2NL in April)
March 15, 2020 at 09:49
Hey Simon, have you any ideas how the further processing could like look? At the moment the consulates are limiting their operations in Germany and maybe in other country’s. I’m still waiting for the interview but now it seems unthinkable to get one until the DV2020 progress. I’ve seen your last video about the travel ban but maybe you could deliver any updates in this case.
Many thanks to your efforts in this, dear Simon.
Kind regards
Patrick
March 15, 2020 at 16:09
I have no idea how things will progress.
March 15, 2020 at 12:43
Hi Brit,
Does this email mean that
1. The DS-260 forms are processed and documents received?
2. If so, should I just wait for the 2NL now?
“Case Number: 2020AS00016xxx

March 15, 2020 at 15:37
Hello Brit
Wanted to ask what should figure on an employement offer because after that I read the FAQ I saw that you told someone that his employement offer is useless
So what should figure on it ?
God bless you and your family
March 15, 2020 at 16:17
“what should figure on it”
What does that mean?
March 15, 2020 at 18:14
Like what need to be written in the job offer to make it beneficial to our case
March 15, 2020 at 18:46
It needs to be a REAL offer from a REAL USA company.
March 15, 2020 at 18:20
Who will sponsor my affidavit of support is no person in the USA
March 15, 2020 at 18:22
I have no person in the USA?? to sponsor my affidavit of support, so do I support my self alone?

Dear Mr. Brit,
I am a DV 2020 winner and my confirmation number is not current yet.
I was checking my DS260 and I found mistake between the initial DV application and the DS260. The mistake was in my middle name “Mohammad” instead “Mohmmad” (knowing that the initial application name was wrong and the DS260 is right). What should I do?
March 15, 2020 at 19:01
Nothing to do. You corrected it in the DS260.
March 15, 2020 at 19:10
Hello, Simon,
Hope you and everyone else is fine with this spreading virus.
On my question, what is your opinion on using a Digital Mailbox Service(Virtual Business Address on LLC) for eventually receiving the green card?
March 15, 2020 at 20:29
That is not possible. The USPS will not deliver certain types of mail to a mailbox.
March 15, 2020 at 19:25
Hello Brits,
How r u n ur family? My case number is AF25xxxx. I m current and scheduled for interview in April. Already booked an appointment for our medical examination but their is a concern. My husband is currently not with us in the country, his on a business trip an got held up in the country He went to cos of the CONVID19. Now my question is can he do the medical test in the country he is currently in whiles myself and the kids do ours in our country. Would it be a problem if we do our medical test in different countries. Please let me know as soon as possible so we can know what to do. Thanks
March 15, 2020 at 20:30
No, he must take the medical in the country of the interviewing embassy.
March 17, 2020 at 16:24
Hey Brits.
Case number AF25xxxx.
Still on the matter of medical examination. In our case their are designated hospitals both in The Gambia and Senegal despite the fact that the interview is done in Senegal. So now that my Husband is currently in Senegal and cannot travel back to The Gambia due to the Convid19.
Can he now do his test in one of the designated hospitals in Senegal whiles we do ours in the designated hospital in The Gambia. Our interview is schedule for April hopefully by then this virus will have a cure and we would be able to travel to Senegal for our interview.
Thanks
March 17, 2020 at 19:36
I think my earlier answer covers that. The whole family must interview together and medicals must be conducted in the physician that each embassy requires.
March 15, 2020 at 21:22
Hi Brit Does Trump’s ban affect the winner of the lottery from countries where the ban is issued. Thanks
March 16, 2020 at 01:30
Yes
March 15, 2020 at 21:47
Hi Simin, ad my case is now current for May. I would like you to recommend the health insurance companies that I can research and learn more, so that I can be ready to apply I’d get through. Please, also list the insurance that you deal and recommend the best one that I can choose from the lists. Thanks

Hi Brit.
Few days ago I called KCC and the operator said me that I have to wait until mid of April for my 2nl for June interview . I am current in Eu VB.
I am In Italy, and how you surely know, the situation here is not good. If , and I say if, everything will go well in next days, embassy should reopen 3 of April, (but I am not sure of that).
So in the case they will be closed beyond 3 april, They will be forced to delete April and March’s interviews, (I hope not, but that could be a possibility), in this scenario, I am wondering, if next interviews, like mine, will still have the interview in June meanwhile March and April interview will go , I don’t know, In July for example? Or will the April and March interviews have priority over others ?
Sorry, but thanks to your experience, You surely will know more about that.
Thanks for your time, it is really appreciate.
I hope you and your wife are well.
March 16, 2020 at 01:34
I can’t predict what will happen, the best advice is wait and see.
March 16, 2020 at 02:39
when did you get the confirmation email?
March 16, 2020 at 00:13
Hi simon
We are family of 5, my Wife is the winner, we did my interview on February 5th, everything goes nice and easy except when the CO asked me about my education and work experience, I am a computer engineer and have 18+ experience at couple of international and local companies , specialized mainly on high end computing
The questions was about my skills, job description, countries I travelled to, and at the end she said to me I will give you the passport but first I will cancel r B1/B2 visa for all of you , send me your cv, and I will do some administrative processing then after three weeks you may get your visa ready
Till now the only update in ceac for the case is refused
Shall I worry, or it will be issued
BTW we interviewed in kuwait
March 16, 2020 at 00:28
Correction
we did my interview on March 5th,
March 16, 2020 at 01:34
I cannot predict the outcome, but be patient.

March 16, 2020 at 06:47
Hello BritSimon
I trust you are well. I need your assistance with regard to the Europe travel ban that came into place last week to slow the spread of COVID-19. I read your post on the ban and watched the video. I need a clarification on a matter that was not addressed by your post. I am Kenyan living in Nairobi and I got my DV on February 19. I had done my medical examinations on February 11 and my visa expires on August 11. I would like to travel from Nairobi to Washington for an activation trip in the US and then come back the same day. A lot of the flights I’m getting go through Schengen area. Are passengers like me, using a Schengen airport, for transit purposes banned? I’ve so far gotten a Nairobi – Schipol – Washington itinerary by KLM.
March 16, 2020 at 16:00
No – transiting through Shengen does not activate the ban at this time. However, things could change.
March 16, 2020 at 17:18
Thank you so much. Stay safe.
March 16, 2020 at 16:00
No – transiting through Schengen does not activate the ban at this time. However, things could change.
March 16, 2020 at 06:51
Dear sir
I first wanted to thank you for this outstanding source and tool for information , it really helped me during my DV 2019 process, which i now finally got my green card.
May i ask your opinion, as a 2019 new immigrant i did the first entry in late 2019, but return to my home country in order to start planning the move to the US and was planning to go back to the US next month for further planning.unfortunately the COVID19 cause delays and issues for a smooth transition.
I was wondering if you have any info or suggestion, how the US officials will react to that force majour situation, maybe they will give some more extension times to complete the transition, or any other extensions before they will ask questions/make trouble?
Thank you
March 16, 2020 at 16:01
You have a full year since you left – so there is no point in worrying about this at the moment.
March 16, 2020 at 23:27
Hey Simon- Ive also got my green card but back in Australia to organise the ‘big move’ which is July – leaving only 1 month left of that 1 year window. Should I be requesting an extension and where do I go for that?
March 16, 2020 at 23:31
That’s not clear at this time. Best to wait for a few weeks so that we know more.
March 17, 2020 at 00:38
Thanks, Simon 🙂
March 16, 2020 at 07:36
Hello. I have one question my highest education level grade 10 but i’m learning my result try am grade 11 i have 2year and more months
March 16, 2020 at 16:02
I don’t understand your message, and don’t see a question.
March 16, 2020 at 12:39
Hello Sir,
Due to corona pandemic, embassy has issued a notice that says all visa appointments are postponed until April 30. I have my interview scheduled for april 1st. I have got no notification in my mails of esc page. Does this mean interview is cancelled as well?
March 16, 2020 at 13:19
Excuse me but for which Embassy are you talking about, which country?
March 16, 2020 at 16:16
Probably. The embassy will contact you.
March 16, 2020 at 15:37
My Interview is schedule for 22 of April but today I say the notice in US Embassy Website (Nepal) stating that, “as of March 17, 2020, the United States Embassy in Kathmandu, Nepal is cancelling routine Diversity Visa and nonimmigrant visa appointments. We will resume routine visa services as soon as possible but are unable to provide a specific date at this time. https://np.usembassy.gov/information-for-visa-applicants-regarding-covid-19/
My question is since its uncertain when the embassy will resume its service so should I cancel my medical appointment which is scheduled for 31st March and wait for the embassy to resume their service ?
March 16, 2020 at 16:18
Yes.
March 16, 2020 at 15:50
Hell dear brit. Im from afriAf with my case number current. I contacted KCC bc i didn’t receive congratulations from them.
In the middle it said.
“Your DS-260 has been processed. You should have received, or will soon receive, an email from the Kentucky Consular Center giving you instructions to complete in order for your case to continue processing. Please follow the instructions in the email. Interviews are scheduled numerically based on case numbers that have completed processing”.
What actions mist i take here brother?
March 16, 2020 at 16:18
Send documents.
https://britsimonsays.com/document-procedure-modification/
March 16, 2020 at 20:11
Dear Brit with respect. I sent the documents back in January and i received an auto reply saying i submitted my documents. So i will do that again? Im curious if it can bring some problems send the docs again. Thx dear.
March 16, 2020 at 23:34
For now, just wait.
March 16, 2020 at 19:42
Hey Brit,
Hope all is good.
Case #EU24XXX
Here in California on a O1 that expires in July.
I have received the docs confirmation email and just got current.
I am hoping to get my 2NL by the end of this or next month for May/June, however if that doesn’t happen and this COVID situation doesn’t get better in Italy, when do you think would be the latest to safely switch to AOS?
Thank you so much,
Leo
March 16, 2020 at 23:36
Leo, I think you could delay that decision for a few more weeks, but I personally would only wait until later this month. You can call KCC to see if you are going to get an appointment scheduled this month. If you are going to be scheduled they say you are “current for scheduling”. So call or email them. If that is a no – I suggest AOS.
March 18, 2020 at 03:27
Hey Brit,
thanks for your reply.
I called this morning and they said that I am not current for scheduling yet and I will probably be next month.
That being said, things are not looking good out here and I hope that the situation with the Italian embassy will get better by June, so I was still considering sticking to CP and hop on a plane when that is possible..
Would you say they will still try to schedule as many numbers as possible by September over there?
Thanks again,
Leo
March 18, 2020 at 03:48
They will, yes. But obviously there will be a lot of confusion and delays. I’m really unsure how things will develop from here. Perhaps you could reevaluate in a couple of weeks.
March 18, 2020 at 02:49
USCIS field offices are closed till April 1st.
March 18, 2020 at 03:12
They are closed to the public for the time being, but still processing case work. Obviously there could be an extension of that time, but If we look 6 to 8 weeks out from here perhaps we would be through the worst of the impacts.

March 16, 2020 at 20:17
Good Afternoon Mr.Simon. When entering the Lottery, does one have to include former step-children, even when one is already divorced?
March 16, 2020 at 23:34
Yes
March 17, 2020 at 05:51
Hello Simon,
Due to the Corona Virus (COVID-19) US Embassy is cancelling routine Diversity Visa and immigrant visa appointments. And my visa appointment is schedule for April 06, 2020 also i have completed my medical screening. Now my question is 1. Will US embassy will notify applicant for the new date of interview. 2. Do we need to change the new interview date if yes what is the procedure for appointment change.
March 17, 2020 at 15:33
1. They will give you instructions. Either they will do it, or they will tell you to use their online booking system.
2. See 1.
March 17, 2020 at 17:13
US embassy will update new ESC (2nl) for the Interview or they will contact via Email ?
March 17, 2020 at 19:36
Email. The 2NL will not get updated.
March 19, 2020 at 08:59
Hello Brit if you did not get the email also what should you do? Should you go on the date of your interview that was giving to you? Thanks
March 19, 2020 at 15:09
Yes, or contact the embassy.
March 17, 2020 at 05:53
Hi Brit, Greetings !!
My case is current in latest VB and most probably I should get 2NLS at the end of this month which may be interview in may. But just yesterday Embassy from Kathmandu, Nepal released a notice to cancel all the diversity and other visas until the next notice. Does this means, visa appointment are cancelled or postponed ??
If not postponed, is this considered as the deletion or loss of chance??
In this condition what could be done? Can we attend interview in any other Embassy by changing the interview location?
March 17, 2020 at 17:47
You are placing too much significance on the words, cancelled or postponed. Either way – the process is the same. When the embassy is able to reopen, they will reschedule interviews or ask selectees to reschedule. No – you cannot move to another embassy.
March 17, 2020 at 05:58
Hi Brit. Does this message means that kcc have received my documents and as such I don’t need to email them again?
The Kentucky Consular Center (KCC) has received your email and is currently processing your documents. This email address, [email protected], is only used for applicants to provide the Kentucky Consular Center (KCC) with documents required to continue processing Diversity Visa applications. [email protected] does not respond to inquiries. If you have any Diversity Visa related questions, please email [email protected] with your case number, complete name, and date of birth, as entered on your original entry.
You should expect an email from KCC in the next 3-6 weeks. If you do not hear from KCC after 6 weeks, please contact [email protected] to confirm all of your documents have been received, and you are ready to be scheduled for an interview. need to write them again????.
March 17, 2020 at 17:48
Yes – they have your documents.
March 17, 2020 at 07:22
Hi Brit,
Just received an e-mail form the Embassy informing that our interview scheduled for tomorrow is now postponed until travel restrictions are lifted, I would appreciate if you can advise on the following:
1- Is this happening in all US Embassies around the world or it is limited to some countries, i.e. complete stoppage to DV-2020 process ?
2- If this is limited to certain Embassies, do we still have a chance if we tried to change interview location to another Embassy in a country where we have valid legal residency?
Thanks and regards
March 17, 2020 at 17:49
1. Many embassies, not all thus far.
2. You cannot change embassies at this point.
March 17, 2020 at 19:00
Thanks Brit.
If this is happening in many embassies, should we expect a slowdown in the rate of visa issuance ?
Would we still have a good chance get through the process if the interview is re-scheduled to July or August 2020 ?
March 17, 2020 at 20:39
Yes there will be an impact to visa issuance’s. It makes it more likely that people will lose their chance. As for rescheduling – wait and see.
March 17, 2020 at 20:44
will they lose the chance due to cut of numbers in visa bulletin ,or numbers could be ok but there would be problems for rechedulling what do you think brit ?
March 17, 2020 at 20:52
Who knows.
March 17, 2020 at 08:03
Hey Simon, USCIS has posted a sudden alert on their .gov stating “ALERT: Rescheduling Appointments Due to the Coronavirus (COVID-19).If you become ill for any reason, regardless of exposure to COVID-19, please do not come to an appointment with any USCIS office. If you are pregnant, over 60, immunocompromised or have a chronic health condition, and would like to request a reschedule, please follow the above instructions. We will help you reschedule your appointment without penalty when you are healthy. ”
So does that mean interviews for dv selectees currently scheduled for March/April can be rescheduled for any next available slot for without any risk of losing out on the visa allocation because of the reschedule?
March 17, 2020 at 17:50
Interviews will need to be changed. As to your “next available slot” etc – no, it is not a guarantee.
March 18, 2020 at 14:02
Thanks for the reply. Do you know if new dates are provided immediately upon calling in to reschedule or do they email few days/weeks/month later?
It currently shows USCIS offices are now closed until Ap 1 and our 2020AF interview is in Montreal on the 3rd. We don’t want to risk rescheduling and then not receive an alternative appointment from USCIS before Sept when all visas me be used up.
March 18, 2020 at 23:21
I don’t know.
March 18, 2020 at 23:22
It is CERTAIN that visas will not be used up by September. That is not the point!!
March 17, 2020 at 13:36
Dear Brit, how have you been?
I will have an interview in April and here are my questions.
1. I’m a family of four. And the co may ask me for affidavit support and I have got I-864 from a joint sponsor to be cautious of the public charge. Because here in Ethiopia the COs don’t ask for I-134 as they search from the sponsor by themselves. My question is do I still need DS-5540?
2. When I filled the DS-260, I said four of the family members would go to US together. But now can I (the principal applicant) go first and my wife and my two children join me after two months?
3. My sponsor changed his address to other state and he sent me the new one. Should I tell the CO about the address at the end of the interview or just at the beginning?
Thank you for your response in advance.
March 17, 2020 at 18:21
1. DV cases cannot use the I-864. Yes you may be asked for the DS5540, and possibly an I-134.
2. Yes
3. Anytime.
March 17, 2020 at 16:24
Hi Brit!
Do you know if KCC start sending 2NL this month?
March 17, 2020 at 18:22
Not that I am aware of.

Hi Brit,,if interviews could not be accomplished and rescheduled,do you think by any chance that there might be a second draw for applicants living in the US so they can benefit from the remaining visa numbers as AOS might be easier?
March 17, 2020 at 20:51
No.
March 17, 2020 at 21:22
brit ,someone from Eu region got their confirmation email today with cn EU312xx above the current numbers of this month vb,we know that they kcc dont send confirmation email before they go current, so is this a good sign that they are working full capacity or maybe they changed the way of proccesing documents ?
March 17, 2020 at 22:08
“we know that they kcc dont send confirmation email before they go current,”
That is not correct.
“so is this a good sign that they are working full capacity or maybe they changed the way of proccesing documents”
Neither. It is simply your misunderstanding of the first point.
March 17, 2020 at 22:19
I meant they cant see documents before that number becomes current, that is what you informed in previous posts ,because when somebody sent email to know if kcc is satisfied with documents ,kcc replied that they cannot see documents before cn becomes current know suddenly they sent conf to higher nr than current vb ,4 days after vb released do you think something changed in proccesing? thanks
March 17, 2020 at 23:01
One department not being able to “see” the status is NOT the same as the processing being marked as complete and sending the documents complete message. So again, NO – that did not change.
March 18, 2020 at 00:09
Is this the “documents complete message”?
March 18, 2020 at 01:21
That is what is meant – yes.

Hi Brit, i came in with my family September 2019 , i stayed back in usa but my family went back after 2weeks to put things in other before coming back but due to the virus issue will there be problem if they stayed over 1 year .. i already posted there green card to them.. but worries about the virus to book a fight for them at this moment.. pls advise
March 17, 2020 at 22:10
Generally speaking they should not stay away longer than a year. BUT there *might* be a chance this requirement would be relaxed during this time. However, don’t rely on a “might”.
March 19, 2020 at 15:04
but most countries now closed borders and flight flying in… how to address this ?
March 19, 2020 at 15:20
This won’t be a problem for you until September. WAIT and see how things progress.
March 17, 2020 at 23:13
Dear Mr. Simon. Thank you very much for your truly irreplaceable resource. I have a question about the CEAC website. I watched your video about 2NL. This is very useful information. And perhaps you are so aware of whether there have been any changes to his work regarding the status of the case before the interview. I checked the status of my case on the CEAC website and found the status is REFUSED. I called the embassy, and they told me there that the interview will take place and my case is under consideration. My question is: do you have information why many applicants now have this status and what does it mean? Thanks.
March 18, 2020 at 01:17
Are you at Moscow embassy by any chance? I’m guessing so because they sometimes marked cases as AP prior to the interview – because they do additional screening. Since AP is not a valid status anymore – it now reads refused. So – for Moscow – that is common – and nothing to worry about.
March 18, 2020 at 09:07
Thank you for the answer. And, yes, my interview should take place in Moscow. I correctly understood that now the status of Administrative Processing is canceled and the status Refused is displayed instead? Sincerely, Irina.
March 18, 2020 at 23:15
Yes – AP is now shown as refused.

Hi Brit,
Thanks plenty for all the work on the site.
Info:
I’m an NZ citizen living in the UK with my application being OC03XX.
Submitted DS-260 end of Jan, documents early Feb and confirmation email from KCC that all documents submitted correctly 12-Feb.
I had originally scheduled my interview to be in London (where I live), however I’ve been in NZ for the last 2 weeks on holiday and with the Coronavirus restrictions and family circumstances, I may not be able leave NZ/go back to the UK for some time.
I am yet to receive confirmation of the interview date, however considering when I received confirmation of correct document submission and the latest release of data; I expect this to be sometime in the March grouping.
I have tried to contact the US Consulates in London and Auckland for guidance or location change information, however I have not been able to get a prompt response.
Questions:
1. In normal circumstances, is someone able to change the country location of the interview once the 2NL has been received?
2. Are you aware of any backlogs or delays in processing/interviewing for the London or Auckland consulates or the medical offices?
3. A voicemail prompt on the Auckland Consulate line for immigrant visas said that interviews are to be held in “the jurisdiction you have been a resident of for the preceding 6 months”. Is this in line with your understanding or do you know if this is applicable for DV visas?
4. Do you have any recommendations for how to manage the expected travel restrictions and interview? I don’t want to miss this and am trying to get the most up to date information to make a decision my own immediate travel.
Thanks again for all the help this site provides
March 18, 2020 at 01:21
1. With some difficulty. It is actually better to contact KCC BEFORE the 2NL is received. You can try that now and explain.
2. With COVID-19 there will obviously be some delays and difficulties.
3. That is normal, but KCC will vary that if there is good reason.
4. See 1 – do that.
March 18, 2020 at 02:52
Hi Simon, will there be any impact on the DV2021 results that are scheduled for May this year.
March 18, 2020 at 03:08
The results? No. And probably not the process itself given that no interviews will happen until October.
March 18, 2020 at 05:51
Hello Simon greetings please I wish to inquire about the Affidavit of support filled by the person receiving me in the US. I found out that the Affidavit of support cannot be filled by the person who is to receive me there in the US and it’s one of the requirements listed to be brought at the interview. Is there any possibility that I change my address and then the person fills the form and sent or what would you advice me to do in this case.
March 18, 2020 at 23:07
The person completing the I-134 can be a different to the person hosting you.
March 19, 2020 at 18:07
Thanks very much
March 18, 2020 at 07:12
Hi Simon,
Thank you for your hard work on helping everyone here. I know you must be getting many questions at the moment given this highly unusual event and I understand you don’t have any answers as to what will happen. In regards to that I would like to ask for your insight to possible outcomes.
I am current in Australia and have received my email from KCC with the congratulations about submitting documents so I expect that I should be receiving a 2NL this month.
Sadly I just saw that Sydney has reduced operations including not processing some visas. They haven’t stated if it’s DV visas.
What do you think could occur here? If I haven’t received my 2NL does that mean they will stop
sending them this month until the embassy returns to normal operation? If this lasts 6 months or over is that dream finished?
Thanks, Elliot
March 18, 2020 at 23:09
As you correctly say – I don’t have answers. I really have no idea what will happen. The deadline cannot change, so yes, it is possible that some will lose out because of the current situation.
March 19, 2020 at 00:59
Thank you for your reply. I guess the concern is about the lack of information coming out of the KCC. If the Embassy is closed yet KCC has scheduled interviews for May will the 2NLs still be sent. I know you wouldn’t know this but do you think it would be best to contact the KCC or just wait until the end of the month and hope the 2NL comes?
March 19, 2020 at 03:28
Just wait. Really.
March 19, 2020 at 21:24
Hi Simon! You really are a wonderful support for so many of us. The 2NL came through.
March 20, 2020 at 01:16
Great.
March 18, 2020 at 08:57

March 18, 2020 at 23:15
I have no idea.
March 18, 2020 at 10:56
Thank you for everything sir. The U.S embassy decided to cancel every emigrant visa for now on. They will be rescheduled later.
Do you think me with EU41*** will not get a chance for a visa this year?
P.s: This is about the corona virus problem.
March 18, 2020 at 23:18
I don’t know what will happen.
March 18, 2020 at 11:56
Dear Mr. Simon,
I am an Iraqi citizen and my case transffered to Qatar US embassy but because of coronavirus the embassy says all interviews are canceled and they said we reschedule it when the situation changed. my questions are
1- If this situation remain like that till the last of September, it means our cases will be expired or we still can interview ? because we are not the reason of the situation.
2- my interview date was 19/APRIL, howmuch time should I wait to be rescheduled after the situation controlled??
thank you
March 18, 2020 at 23:19
1. 30th September is a hard stop – it cannot be extended.
2. I have no idea.
March 18, 2020 at 16:26
Hi Brit,
It appears the embassy in Montreal is still on the plan for immigration visa interview, however the clinics to conduct the medical test are cancelling their appointments.
My interview date in on April 3rd. Do you think if there is an option to attend the interview without medical exam?
I already contacted the embassy by email and received no feedback.
March 18, 2020 at 17:55
Same here. You should get cancelation email soon.
My email is [email protected] . Let’s wait for the reschedules and keep ourselves posted?
March 18, 2020 at 23:26
You might attend the interview without the medical, but you cannot be approved until you provide the medical.
March 19, 2020 at 01:11
I just received the appointment cancellation email. Such a relief in this situation
March 18, 2020 at 17:17
Greetings Simon,
Please i wish to inquire about the Affidavit of support and My receivers address in the United State
The address of my receiver that i filled on my DS260 has a problem in that the person is ineligible to fill the Form. My question now is how can i change the address to another so that i get the form filled by the new person.
March 18, 2020 at 23:26
Change at the interview.
March 18, 2020 at 17:34
Hey Brit, A question. For how long are the medical valid before the interview? I did mine last week but my interview got canceled.
March 18, 2020 at 23:28
The visa validity will be based on the date of the medical, so they will accept an old medical (up to 6 months in theory), but that means the validity period will be short – so in practice you will probably want to repeat the medical.
March 18, 2020 at 18:40
Greetings Simon,
Thanks for all the great work you are doing, can’t express the joy. You are a great man. Remain blessed
March 18, 2020 at 20:12
Hi Brit,
Thanks for your great blog!
I have a question and I appreciate if you have solutions.
Background:
– My husband is from Taiwan and I’m from mainland China.
– He is the principal applicant.
– We are in USA now and he is in F-1 visa and I’m F-2.
– Our case number is 183**, and both of us already submitted DS260 and my husband submitted all supporting documents to KCC.
Question:
Since the coronavirus issue, Taiwan government stop to give entry permit for Taiwan. So I can’t go to Taiwan do the interview with my husband together.
– Is that will be a problem if my husband do the interview by himself? (I suppose to be there but not) Is this will be a reason that Immigration officer reject our case?
– What should we do now? Do I need to withdrawal my application? If do, how to?
I really appreciate if you can help us! Thanks a lot!
March 18, 2020 at 23:32
You might need to adjust status later if your husband does his interview alone. You would then adjust from F-2 in the USA once he returns. You might be able to do that by September 30, if not it will be outside DV, but you would switch to an I-130 family based case.
March 19, 2020 at 00:24
Thank you for your reply!
So, do you mean it will NOT affect my husband’s case since I can’t be present in the interview?
Does my husband need to change the answer in DS260 “Is your spouse immigrating to the US with you” from YES to NO? Anything else we should do before interview?
Thanks again!
March 19, 2020 at 03:29
Let KCC/the embassy know that you cannot attend.
